Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. It's Friday, November 25th. The day after Thanksgiving, do, dun, dun, our weekly marketing news, business of the world,

Mr. Nick Weaver. What's up, brother? Hey, everybody, what's going on? Oh, you know. It's no secret. We do pre-record these. So we actually haven't officially had our turkey, but everyone listening by now, we will have had ours and you'll have had yours. So we hope everyone's had a good turkey day. Plenty of turkey. Yes, turkey, turkey, turkey, I had my first turkey meal last weekend.

And then we had the little office gathering. So I'll be into my fourth meal by the time this airs. Have you had enough turkey, Ryan? Yeah. You just want some more. Turkey Day. Turkey Day. The, it's a good holiday, though.

You know, like, I like to eat. I enjoy a little turkey and dressing. I like to eat too. Yeah. You, um, yeah, I like dressing. It's good. You know, my family actually makes the stuff called pink stuff. It's a special family recipe.

We put on the turkey and it just makes it so much better. You can put it on the dressing. You can put it on the turkey. You can put it on everything. A little pink stuff. Yeah, it's a mix between a thousand island dressing and a couple other things, but it just has a nice twang and, is this just like McDonald's secret sauce?

You can we get that Big Mac sauce and just put it in a jar? We're going to call it pink stuff for our holiday meal. Yeah, family recipe. It'll never, it won't be sold. It's a big Mac sauce mixed with Zaxby sauce. All the secret stuff. All the secret stuff. But I'll be into cooking my tenderloin at this point.

Have a little filet tenderloin. Not bad, not bad. Yeah, I'll be cooking that thing right on up for a little Sunday afternoon. Yeah. Depending on when you're listening to this. Get you getting hungry again. A little tenderloin on a Sunday. Yes.

It's up. Absolutely. So it's been a good week, it's been a short week, but a busy week. Got a lot of things happening and flying around. Like they've already done well. They're trying to take it to the next level. So a lot of good insights for how they got their learnings and where they're trying to go next. More details on that. Episode 300, excited for that. Coming down the train. Coming down the tracks quickly. So, yes. You know, a little small talk. We're going to make today a little fun, a little light, get into our weird Thanksgiving traditions list. I found this list online.

I'm going to go through those. So, you know, you think you're weird. Wait, do you hear this list? Check this out. Yeah, check this out. So I thought this was cool. A couple things we found. You know, I did see this.

I read this before. Our team put the articles together. The Indiana Jones. You know, the deep fix. all this stuff happening. And, you know, I didn't think, you know, they did this in one of the Star Wars movies, but they went back and showed him. They did a pretty good job.

It looked a little fake. I mean, too much. But they're going to make our whole Harrison Ford, you know, 40s. Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing how that's going to turn out. In the end of Jones, five. Yeah, he's 80 now. God.

He looks pretty damn good for 80. Seriously, that's what I want to look like. We're going to deage him. I'm going to need people to, you can start deaging me here on the podcast? Yeah, I don't think you need it. Okay, thank you. Thank you for that. But eventually I will.

So if this holds on long enough, we're going to start de-aging me. Or just make me old. Make me old, you know, now and early. It could be interesting. Go the other way. I saw this Twitter alternative hive hits one million users after surge of signups. I'm like, okay, one million. There's only got like 400 million to go.

Yeah. Yeah, only 400. I don't know if that's going to stick around and hive. What an original name. Yeah, interesting. Hive. B's a little bee mascot instead of a bird. Is it all the trolls?

They all going over there. That'd be nice. To me, it's like a master plan for Elon. He wants to just get all the trolls get gone anyway. Yeah, that was his plan. Yeah. He built his own platform, just wrecking Twitter. Yeah, exactly.

What do you make all of this? Yeah, I just want to see the data. I want to see a chart. to see the progression. Did it just hit one million? Has it been trending up for a while? Like what? I want to see the chart for this one. And I want to know who and what's the selection process for being number one on the app store. Yeah. I don't know about that. I think the algorithm gets jig depending on who they want to promote and things like that. I've had to guess. But I'm sure there's a lot of downloads, but there's a lot of attention on Twitter. So someone's picking up. So I

don't fault them for trying to take advantage of it. No, I don't. I don't know, man. It's, I'm not so sure. It looks a little disorganized, but I'm not. Maybe Elon's playing chess and everybody else is playing checkers. I don't know. We'll see once it plays out.

I don't, he's kind of, he's kind of creating quite the storm in the process. I don't know. Getting a lot of attention. Yeah. But I saw this Domino's Pizza, which makes sense. So you got delivery and, uh, You know, you've got this workforce. They're tough hiring people.

So hell, get some cars. You get the workforce. Get the workforce out there. They got driver's license, but they don't have a car. So you hook them up with a Chevy bolt, you know. Yeah, I think they got about 800 of them, too. Yeah. So it's going to be the largest pizza delivery fleet in the country.

Hey. See those bolts riding around, you know? Like, I hope they avoid the noid, though. that character that blows up all the Domino's pizza drivers. Anyway, if you remember that campaign, you know what I'm talking about. The Noi, that was the campaign for Domino's in the 80s where there's always somebody trying to get their, you know, there was a competitor pizza company always trying to blow up their drivers. Yeah, I better watch out.

That lithium battery might blow up. Yeah, I know. That Chevy Bolt. Right. The, I guess you can't deliver pizzas on scooters. So, I mean, electric scooters just wouldn't work. Yeah, it might be. in a metro area.

Pizza might be shook up. Maybe golf carts or something. Yeah. Inclimate weather, too. I guess a Chevy Bolt kind of is like a golf cart in a way. It looks like a golf cart. Yeah. It's just an upgraded battery.

You're getting wrecking that thing. You squash like a tin can. That and those smart cars? You're sitting in one of those? Yeah. That thing is like a mini go cart. Like, it's tiny. I'm surprised it doesn't just turn over.

I know. It's like a tiny little box. Going around to turn too fast. Oh. I know. But I'm going to see. what happens. See what happens.

See, they, uh, look, they can't get drivers or people with cars. So let's outfit them with a car. Yeah. Good play for, uh, Chevy there. See, they sold, you know, that's a nice order, 800 bolts right off the top. 800 branded cars. They got the wraps and everything. Yeah.

So we'll see. Be on the lookout for a domino's bolt near you. Uh, the, uh, I do want to get into our little. Let's keep, we'll keep a light here. Okay. Thanksgiving. Let's get into. I'm going to go down this.

list. This is from ranker. Ranker. Ranker.com. 14 strange Thanksgiving traditions that everyone pretends aren't weird. That's the best part, right? Oh, you know, we do this. And it's like, okay, that's a little strange.

We just think it's normal, though. Yeah. Number one, I'm going to start, number one. We're just going from the top. We don't have to go in reverse. Number one is Triple T. The turkey toss. In Indianapolis,

People have started an annual tradition of dressing their turkey in a baby onesie. What? Dowsy getting in lighter fluid, attaching it to a long change, lighting in a fire, and throwing it across the length of a football field. Turkey launch. This tradition was basically started by a bunch of dudes who wanted to see a funny turkey street driven at night sky. And now it's an annual thing. The turkey toss.

Sounds like fun. I want to try it. Triple Tos. Let's get one at the office. It's not Tower Town Tavern. It's the turkey toss. Is this bizarre? Yes or no? I'm going to go with yes.

We're going to give that one a bizarre. It's bizarre as hell. What's next? Yeah, number two, Thanksgiving masking. Masking. In the 19th century, masking was a Halloween-like tradition where adults and kids would dress up on Thanksgiving. Most people would wear masks, but others got a little more creative. Many young boys would cross-dress as their sisters.

And some even went as far as dress. dressing up like prominent political figures. These handmade costumes were a little scary to behold, and the tradition eventually devolved down to Ragamuffin Day. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if I'll be taking part in that one. Yeah. How about you, Ryan?

No. There you have it. That's pretty weird. That's like it's Thanksgiving cross with Halloween is what that sounds like. Yeah, kind of a weird hybrid there. Yeah. It's a no for me, dog. So number two on that list.

Number three, frozen turkey bowling. Whoa. Okay. Now we're talking. There we go. Now we're cooking. Yeah, now we're talking. At the University of Wisconsin, LaCross, the most popular Thanksgiving tradition is an event called frozen turkey bowling where people hurl frozen, oiled up turkeys down a grocery store aisle and a set of bowling pins.

The event raises money to combat smoking, which is an awesome. awesome reason to throw a turkey bird at a bunch of bowling pins. What the heck is this? That's the best, the most creative one right there. I like that one. Turkey bowling. Just don't throw your frozen turkey into the oil.

You know what happens when you do that. FTB, baby. Frozen turkey bowling. FTB. This is going to acronym this whole thing right up. We'll give that one. It's a little bizarre, but I can get down some frozen turkey bowling. Okay.

four is just Black Friday There you go Can we all admit that Black Friday is the worst holiday ever? It's basically just an excuse for people to wrestle in a Macy's parking lot Like Mother's Day And Valentine's Day Black Friday wasn't even a thing until we decided it was

Yeah, that's right Started camping out from the target to buy TVs And a minuscule discount So have you ever camped out for a product Or do you have any Black Friday stories? Ab's a fucking, Luke, not literally not. Never. Yeah. It's called sitting on the couch and watching TV.

Have I shopped on Black Friday? Yes. Late in the afternoon going, okay, I'll go out and I'm going to, I need to, I've never gotten in the line at 5-8. Yeah, no, I haven't either. Absolutely no dog. And that's a relaxing day for me. How about Cyber Monday, though? I do hit up Cyber Monday. Yes. Cyber Monday's all right.

Yeah, shopping online, my pajamas or whatever. You don't have to fight people. Or pajamas at work on Mondays anyway, so it works on. Number five, the Wild Turkey 81 eating world championship. Whoa. Is that number 81, I guess? Is there an odder tradition in this one created by a company forcing its way into the national, the wild turkey? Got it.

81. Now I get it. No way. Back in 2011, wild turkey, the makers of a delicious whiskey began a turkey. I don't know about that. That's the first statement of the century. That's a nice writing there. Yeah.

began a turkey eating competition that drew all manner of competitors, but was truly dominated by Sonia, the black widow Thomas. After her victory, she said, I left only bone. I'm so happy. Oh, dear. I don't need a way to go with that one. The Wild Turkey eating world championship. So it's just an eating competition, you know, on Thanksgiving,

sponsored by Walt Turkey. Now, I commend the, you know, bring this back to marketing and business. hey, if you want to make hay on social media, then create a fucking holiday for yourself, you know? And Wild Turkey Day, makes sense. It's freaking Thanksgiving. Yeah, goes right hand in hand with that, Wild Turkey, Turkey Day, yeah.

Speaking of which, Radcast just hit the top 100 in Turkey for business and marketing this week, anyone listening to's in Turkey, we appreciate you. And it's just very coincidental that it's Turkey Week here in the States. That's pretty funny right there. Yeah. Didn't we talk about that? Yeah, we did.

We talked about that a little earlier. All right, here we go. Pardoning a turkey. 1947, a weird tradition known as the national Thanksgiving turkey presentation was founded under the Truman administration. However, Ronald Reagan was actually the first president to formally pardon one of the turkeys given to him. Truman Eisenhower and several other presidents actually ate the turkeys presented to them. Sounds about right. Yes, yes.

In 1988, George H.W. Bush instituted the turkey pardon as a national tradition while he was in office. There you go. Makes sense. Pardoning to turkey so he doesn't get to eat. Oh, yeah. I don't know. I like I might eat that turkey. Fry them right up.

Pardon them right to my friar. You're not going to bowl him. You're not going to throw them. You're going to eat them. Yeah. Gonna eat that. Another triple T here, number eight. The turkey trot.

The turkey trot. Turkey trots, 5Ks happen all over the country. Thousands of full-grown adults each year. Don turkey costumes and go jogging before consuming. I've seen this in Greenville, actually. They jogging turkey costumes. Yeah, I accidentally ran over one with a car. You know, I thought it was a turkey.

And I was like, oh, free meal. Instead of being a person. I'm joking. Anyone out there? I'm joking. You didn't run over anyone. But I thought about it because a turkey outfit looks. stupid. Although it's probably just a ploy to get out of helping your mom make all those side dishes

before your uncle Larry shows up and falls asleep in the potato salad. Turkey trots are definitely a weird Thanksgiving tradition to behold. This is true. Uncle Larry does like to fall asleep in the potato salad. Everybody's got that uncle. Yeah. Is this bizarre? Yeah. So, so. Number nine, North Tech's pie throwing event. At the North Technical High School, Missouri, they host an annual event where they throw pies into the faces of their administrators. Is that really bizarre, though? Or have we been doing that one? I think we've been doing that.

I think we're getting less bizarre as we move down. I wish I had that one in school. I would have thrown a lot of pies. I'm just going to cherry pick a couple here as we close this one out. Thanksgiving Day pumpkin smash. The Thanksgiving tradition is both weird and adorable. And Thanksgiving, the Santa Barbara Zoo in California, people are encouraged to come out and watch different animals interact

with pumpkins. What is the interaction? Can't imagine. Read my lips. No. Yeah, not sure about that. Thanksgiving pie eating contest. And then finally,

cracking the wishbone. Bizarre Thanksgiving tradition actually stems from the ancient Romans. Believe that the person who broke off the larger piece of the wish bone would have a wish come true. Yeah. Knew it. It's not bizarre.

No, that's a good one. I've always believed in that one. Yeah. It's played out pretty much all life. Been breaking off that bigger part and wondering, you know, what's going on. There you go. Yep. Getting your bone on.

Mm-hmm. That's right. Sunday, November 27th, Small business Saturday. How does that possible? That's got to be the 26th, right? Typo on the show notes. Sunday is not small business.

Saturday. Sunday is small business Saturday. Everyone's already eating turkey here that made our show notes. Monday, November 28th is Cyber Monday. cyber it's always sounds so criminal I don't know cyber you can't be like internet Monday cyber Monday internet shopping Monday sounds good enough it has like a almost a sinister connotation buy online Monday I don't know digital Monday I got to come up with better cyber Monday yeah cyber cyber cyber no one uses the word cyber when just that word ever get

used other than security cyber security except for freaking shopping on Mondays in December Yeah. Things that make you go, hmm. We'll see. There's social holidays. You're pretty familiar with those. I'm thinking about getting down on the national cake day. Not that I need it after Thanksgiving.

But a few articles quickly. American Express is partnering with TikTok for the small business accelerator. They partnered to launch Shop Small Accelerator ahead of Small Business Saturday. The program yields a series of tools and resources. designed to help small businesses better understand how to market themselves on the TikTok platform. I mean, that's what makes up most of American business. I mean, I think there's something like 30 million small businesses in the U.S. We're one of them. Mm-hmm.

Yeah. Radical. You know, it always, it's always like this fine lines like small business, but you know that small businesses technically is like up to $100 million in revenue. Mm-hmm. So you can be a $75 million revenue company to be a small business. Yeah, it just shows you. I mean, that puts some perspective on it.

Think about the big business versus a small business. Yeah. Talk about hundreds of, you know. I almost think you need it multiple. you need more categories because the problem, the problem, yeah, but even, I'm not small or small, because think about the challenges that a small business that does $500,000 in revenue versus a company that does $75 million in revenue, those challenges are very different. Very, very different.

And so you almost need subcategories within the small business, small, medium, large, small businesses, sort of. Yeah, you need subcategories. There you go. Some further delineation there. Maybe we'll start creating those. But yes, makes a lot of sense. And TikTok's blowing up for all businesses,

especially if you're doing it right. Got to do it right. I saw the new avatar. Do you remember Avatar? Oh, yeah. I love that movie. $2 billion to break even. It was $2 billion amongst friends.

Is it been too long, though? Like between. It's been a while. You know, with sequels, it's like you want to ride the momentum wave. Yeah. What was the first movie, like 2008, nine? Yeah, that was a long time ago. It's like, think about the difference.

If you're a, you know, a 10-year-old, like when the first one came out, now you're like 24. Like, you know, a little gap there. And, you know. I think it's still going to be good, though. I mean, James Cameron is a great director. He's doing this one, too. I don't doubt that it's going to be crazy, you know. over the top stuff.

But he'll find a way to bring that on it's back in. I guess when you have this much gap, it's one way to sell more of the old one because people have to go watch it to remember. I have to go watch it to remember. I remember the broad plot, but not like some of the minutiaeatures and everything. Yeah. I have to go to remind myself.

Yeah, they were mining for aunditium. Yeah, but you're going to see that all over the place. And Mercedes is doing a big avatar ad as the hype begins. So you're going to see. I talk about this all the time, borrowed interest. And you're going to see this a lot with people playing off of the interest of the movie. Brands like Mercedes already doing it. That's where you leverage real-time happening things that are more in the moment.

And you tie them to your brand. McDonald's is with all kinds of movies. Mercedes does it. I talk about this a lot in some of my coaching classes for how you tie yourself to trends and things. So smart. Finishing off today. and this made me laugh. Samirnoff promotes safe holiday drinking with animated drops of advice.

Samirnoff, a vodka label owned by Diego. Today announced a new holiday campaign to promote smart and safe drinking. Drops of advice consists of six animated shorts, which demonstrates safe drinking habits, such as avoiding top-ups, knowing when to stop, and the portents of water breaks. Yes. There you go.

Still in prints from the animation will appear all around the world and, you know, drops of advice. Yeah. Words of the wise there. Yeah. I think I'll take some advice of that. Yeah. Water breaks for sure. Yeah. I try to avoid advice over the holidays, but especially non-drinking advice.

But sometimes you need it to get through, folks. Let's be honest. The, but it does make sense. I'm going to top off a little less. Some people might need it. Yeah. Some people do. Everything in moderation.

Right. Including moderation. Exactly. There you have it. There's your social holidays. There's your news. And I can't miss the weird turkey holidays. Go bowl some turkeys.
