Hey guys, what's up? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast.
Here is the Radcast News.
Friday, November 4th, 2022.
Christina Yossi.
Hello, hello.
Your final day.
I know, for now.
Final real day.
Truly.
I guess.
Yeah.
Whatever we want to call it.
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Only for a season.
Yes, yes. I can't believe we're in November. Only for a season. Yes. Yes.
I can't believe we're in November.
I know.
It's November.
Oh, you know how I know it's in November?
Christmas music?
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
The Alford family.
Two of five Christmas trees are already up.
Yes.
All Christmas decorations were out.
We had a Christmas tree.
Nicole is a queen.
We had a Christmas tree up in the front window.
It was just a white one.
It was not fully decorated yet, but it was up in the front window the day before Halloween.
Amazing.
Amazing.
I'm here for this.
Oh, my God.
I'm decorating my apartment this weekend.
That's my plan.
So I'll get too busy beforehand.
I'll have like rehearsals and shows.
I just walk in and I
go, it's beginning to look a lot like, shut up. Do you do all the outside decorations? Uh, you
know, we're back in the, you know, we moved out of our loft and now in a real house again. So I
might be on for that duty now. She's going to start guilting me. She does all the interior stuff.
Like all the boys had basketball practice and they were all with me last night.
So she was home after work in a rarity by herself for like two hours.
Oh,
I love it.
And I don't know how she did it,
but half the house was decorated.
17 boxes were already like empty.
Oh,
that's so good.
Oh God.
I love it.
Every pillow on the couch has changed out. Yep. So it's, uh, that's so good. Oh God. I love it. Every pillow on the couch
has changed out.
Yep.
So it's,
it's looking a lot like Christmas
already at the Allford's house.
It's time.
So if you want to get
into the Christmas spirit early,
just stop in
Allford Hotel.
With this 70 degree weather.
Yeah.
Nicholas Weaver.
What's up, man?
Nothing much.
Taking it easy.
Yep. Always. Always. Nicholas Weaver what's up ma'am nothing much taking it easy yep always
just flip flopping
it around
that's right
the Adidas flops
today
those slides
yeah recently
shine look how white
they are
hey
wow
do you wear Crocs
I used to
now I've switched
over to the slides
yeah
I got you
yeah
all the cool kids I don't I got you. Yeah. All the cool kids.
I don't,
I'm not into my,
my kids like the Crocs with socks thing.
And I'm just,
I wore Crocs when I was 11 and I can't bring myself to go back.
I had a moment of weakness for about one summer.
This was probably 10 years ago.
It was a while ago.
And I was like, Oh, I can get into this vibe. They're probably 10 years ago. It was a while ago.
And I was like,
Oh, I can get into this vibe.
They're comfortable or anything else.
And then I think I took a hard look in the mirror at him.
I'm like,
man,
these things are freaking ugly.
I got sunburned.
I had like little,
like the little holes from my Crocs.
It was unpleasant.
Well,
you know,
I don't have that issue,
but they were just fugly.
They're awful. They're so ugly. Yes. So ugly. you know, I don't have that issue, but they were just fugly. They're awful.
They're so ugly.
Yes.
So ugly.
I know.
But it is November and November 4th.
So it's coming quickly.
We've got Thanksgiving, though, coming up in a few weeks.
So we'll be ready for that.
And a lot of just wackiness going on in the news, huh?
Always.
They're always.
Yes.
Like, and I'm going to get on my soapbox for one minute.
So, and you probably see this on like my Instagram feed.
Like at the end of the day, I think people spend a lot of time on this stuff and get sideways and offended and all that when they don't have enough going on in
their life or something like focus on what you can control like how much energy are you expelling
on being offended by what someone says or what someone does versus just getting your shit done
that you can control and i just feel like we got a lot of that going on right now where I look,
I don't like there's some terrible shit going on there.
It's not that I condone it,
but like every ounce of energy I apply towards that gets,
has nothing to do with my advancement as a human being and,
or as a person.
And so that's my only thing in this is like,
you know,
we can all be offended.
You know, show your opinion with your voting and who you do. Oh, great. Wonderful.
But if you're just spending half your day being offended by this side or that side or what Elon does or what Kanye does,
no matter how despicable it is, you can certainly stand up for it. But just I don't know i think it's a a band-aid for
you not really getting your own shit done my opinion hot take yeah i'm just telling you like
if you're gonna spend half your day worried about things you can't control
then we know what the problem is in other radcast news uh matt alonzo award-winning filmmaker came
on this past tuesday the uh he's cool it's fun it was cool he's uh very laid back and very
easy to talk to and you know so i think you get this thing in your mind like oh okay filmmaker
he's worked with Bieber
and 2 Chainz
and all these rap guys
you're just expecting
like ego central
more of an edge
yeah yeah yeah
yeah
but he was great
really insightful
and he's been posting
some new content
you need to go check him
he's a good follow
on Instagram
Matt
at Matt Alonzo
he's got that
entertainment factor
yeah I think
he's got
he changed his handle like you still have Matt Alonzo but like his got that entertainment factor. Yeah. I think he's got it.
You changed his handles.
Like you still have Matt Alonzo,
but like his title or something was like content King.
I don't know.
His name is different.
I think he might have trademarked it.
Cause I like sent a note.
He's like,
yeah,
I got that shit trademarked like content King.
There you go.
Really?
I got to look that up.
Oh,
I don't know.
He's a screw with me or what,
but next week,
Michael dual real estate extraordinaire, a extraordinaire, talks about his whole life story.
And really, he's built almost a $100 million company in the construction business straight from doing new construction.
He talks about the need that there's a lot of data out there that's confusing.
But at the end of the day, there's still a gigantic need for housing in the U.S.
And he was really approachable.
He's from Florida.
Really good guy.
Family guy.
And enjoyed talking with Michael.
Gives some investment tips and ways.
And a lot of entrepreneurial tips.
He's down to earth, relatable, some actionable things.
I really enjoyed talking with him.
That comes out next Tuesday.
Then you'll be seeing a lot of the content from the Think Billions event coming.
You've teased a good bit of that on your Instagram stories.
Yes, yes, yes.
We've got quite a bit.
Mr. Weaver over there finished a pretty sick cut from the event that was next level.
You'll be seeing that out.
We're going to let our gracious hosts get some of that content out there,
but then we'll share more of it.
And then a lot of the episodes that we recorded out there,
we're going to be doing slicing and dicing in different ways.
So you'll see releases on that.
slicing and dicing in different ways.
So you'll see releases on that.
And again, I would classify all this at really actionable stuff
that real entrepreneurs have done
and tasks and growth and their journey.
So I think it'll be really impactful
for people to kind of hear
how these people have started
and built businesses from the ground up
in a lot of different ways and a lot of different categories.
Yeah.
So that'll be coming out in the weeks to come.
So be on the lookout for that.
Exciting stuff.
Always be on the lookout for our sponsor branded bills.
Get that Christmas shopping done early.
Yes.
Branded bills.com.
Use promo code Radcast 20.
Anytime you get 20% off your entire purchase.
And I say it every week,
but I keep putting on my sweatshirts in the morning that are all,
you know,
a little worn.
And I think I'm going to order myself a new sweatshirt,
but I know we've got new ones coming.
They're coming.
And I was hoping to be here this week,
but it's like Christmas day.
You know,
if it came in one day,
you wouldn't appreciate it.
Right.
Right.
Be disappointed. It'd be over too soon. And the quality probably wouldn't be as good either. It's like Christmas Day. You know, if it came in one day, you wouldn't appreciate it as much. Right, right. You'd be disappointed.
It'd be over too soon.
And the quality probably wouldn't be as good either.
Right.
That's also true.
So we've got our hoodies coming in for Radcast.
So you'll see those.
I'll be rocking that.
When it gets a little cooler around here, you'll see me like every week.
You won't wear it in this room.
Did Ryan leave the studio?
Because he's just wearing that hoodie every week.
So we'll see.
I'll have that fan going for you.
But yeah, give them a shout out.
You'll be thankful.
If you're a hat person, man, woman, otherwise, they've got the best selection and the best quality hats.
And they put together a holiday gift guide to make it super easy for your Christmas shopping.
And I'll tell you this right now.
So as being a dude that's hard to buy for,
I'll admit that I'm a hard to buy for dude.
You give me a hat from a flat bill,
like trucker cap from brandandbills.com
with one of their cool unique styles,
just kind of hip or whatever.
Happy camper.
That's a 20 to $30 gift.
Hey.
Nice and easy.
And most, if you're with a hat, you know, if your wife or your husband or hat people or whatever, I'm telling you, this is an easy like stocking stuffer.
Really great gifts and easy to please because who doesn't want a new, nice fitting hat?
I do because that's all I wear.
Except like today when I'm going to be shooting some videos.
There you go.
You know, you got to get the flow going.
But yeah, give them a shout out.
Tell them our good friends at the Radcast sent you.
And you know where you heard it.
You can always go to theradcast.com and click on sponsors.
Click on Brandon Bills and you will get immediately 20% off put in your cart.
So you can shop away.
Super easy.
And there you have it.
Got some social media holidays.
Yes.
Today,
Friday,
November 4th is national community service day.
Yes.
I mean,
you know,
Clayton's in on this,
like,
I don't know what it's called.
I'm forgetting beta club.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like he's an all smart kid.
Bullshit.
Yeah. I don't know if I was out there and made one of them. I don't know.
I wasn't, I was an okay student. I know my grades were good,
but I just don't know. He's like an overachiever. The, uh,
love to see it. Love to see it.
And, uh, he's been doing like all this community service stuff,
which is cool. Like I'm proud of him. I mean, I'm,
we should be doing more of it, you know? Um,
but it does make you stop and think like,
all right,
how can we,
what can I do?
Yeah,
I do,
you know,
and I mean,
the focus off,
let me have to fall for,
or,
uh,
what?
Something Greenville,
Greenville,
not fall for.
Oh,
um,
hands on Greenville.
Hands on Greenville.
Yes.
Thank you.
Hog day,
hog day.
But I mean,
what is there something universal for national community Service Day that you're supposed to do?
Or just like awareness that you should do more?
Recycle.
That's what I did.
Okay.
I'll like keep it in my car.
And my car looks like a trash heap.
It's just like all of my cardboard and cans.
And I drive to my recycling place.
I don't know if that's community service, but it's like the most I'm capable of.
Okay.
You got like a shopping cart full of cans that you picked up out of your car.
Yeah.
A lot of it's cardboard boxes.
I've taken them from work to recycle them.
Yes.
All right.
I got to figure out something to do.
Just celebrate.
You got time.
Yeah.
Pick up some litter.
It's like taking your lunch.
Does that count? It's like community service. I'll allow it. You pay for my Yeah. Pick up some litter. It's like taking your lunch, does that count?
It's like community service day.
I'll allow it.
You pay for my lunch, I'll allow it.
There we have it.
Friday, that was Friday.
Yeah.
Tomorrow.
Remember, remember the 5th of November,
and I looked up a blurb for our listeners.
It's Guy Fawkes Day,
which is observed in the United Kingdom every year on November 5th.
Guy Fawkes Day, also called Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night, commemorates a failed assassination attempt from over 400 years ago.
On November 5th, 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of radical English Catholics tried to assassinate King James I by blowing up Parliament's House of Lords.
The plot went awry and all of the conspirators were executed.
House of Lords. The plot went awry and all of the conspirators were
executed. Soon after, the Brins
began to celebrate Fox's demise and the survival
of their king by burning effigies, lighting
bonfires, and setting off fireworks.
What the fuck?
Hey. I mean,
I kind of wish my last name was Fox.
It's a, again,
it's a decent movie. It's definitely dated,
but. Yeah, I enjoyed it.
I remembered it once you showed me the mask.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know why.
Okay.
I remember that.
Yes.
I mean,
that's pretty deep.
Like,
I mean,
all I heard there was religious freedom.
Yeah.
Like what an assassination plot blow up the whole fricking parliament.
Seems a little extreme,
but just a touch,
you know,
sometimes you gotta make your point.
Uh,
I guess guy Fox day, guy Fox. It kind of rolls off the tongue pretty well though. You know, sometimes you got to make your point. I guess.
Guy Fawkes Day.
Guy Fawkes Day. It kind of rolls off the tongue pretty well, though.
You know, Guy Fawkes Day.
I can't remember his real name.
That was like his alias.
Yeah.
But.
Fawker.
Meet the Fawkers.
Meet the Fawkers.
Christmas movies.
Isn't that a Christmas movie?
Yeah.
Okay, that's what I thought.
Sure.
You know, I mean, I think they had a Christmas movie? Yeah. Okay, that's what I thought. Sure. You know, I mean,
I think they had a Christmas version of one.
Yeah, the sequel is a Christmas,
I don't remember.
I don't know.
It was a great movie either way.
Ben Stiller.
Sunday, National Saxophone Day.
How can you not celebrate this one?
I'll be playing mine.
Oh.
Yeah, I wouldn't even know where to begin.
There it is.
I do love a good saxophone, though. I do, yeah. I wouldn't even know where to begin. There it is. I do love a good saxophone, though.
I do, too.
I mean, Kenny G, underrated.
The sax squash on TikTok.
Favorite TikTok account of all time.
Hands down.
I got a good story about a saxophone.
Oh, no.
So, there's Kenny G's story.. So this Kitty G story.
So this is probably 1989.
Like CDs first came.
Like CD players
were first coming out.
You know,
late 90s
or late 80s,
early 90s.
Sure.
And my parents,
we were firmly
like lower middle class.
We were not,
we did not have,
like we had stuff
but we were not like
poor, poor
but we did not have a lot of money but we were not like poor poor but we did
not have a lot of money sure my parents didn't spurge on we had family vacations they had two
cars we had clothes but a whole lot of there wasn't like go-karts and sure shit that my kids
lots of video games yeah like it was just you know we had what we needed yeah but daddy had a sales
job and started making a little bit more money like Like one of his first bargains was the CD player system in the house.
Nice.
All Bose and Onkyo, which was pretty high end at the time.
The Onkyo kind of went downhill eventually.
And I'll never forget, like, you know, they had,
my parents have a very collected music taste from the four tops to freaking,
you know, shag music yeah anything
everything but my mom had this kenny g cd that she got and it was very like you know it was a i don't
know how it was 14 13 whatever i like started digging that kenny g because it was like turned
up on those speakers like really loud yeah it just sounded amazing because he was so freaking good yeah and it was like you had i hadn't heard that quality in of sound before and so me and kenny g
had a moment for like a month and then i was like okay it's kenny g but it sounded really good music
yeah i was like okay so this is a lot of other things. But wow. How formative. There you go. So National Saxophone Day.
Sunday, November 6th.
Here's to you, Kenny G.
Cheers.
National Kenny G Day.
So Sunday, November 6th.
That hair, though.
Dairy curl.
You know, kind of like spun up.
Oh, yeah.
Nice.
Monday.
This is a hyper-specific one.
Monday is National Bittersweet chocolate with almonds day.
Yeah.
It's too many words.
Two things that I don't care for almonds or bittersweet chocolate.
I love milk chocolate.
That's right.
We've had this dark chocolate.
No bittersweet.
No,
this is my,
this got my wife's name written all over it.
Yeah.
I would get down with this,
but again,
hyper specific. Bittersweet chocolate. But again, hyper-specific.
Bittersweet chocolate with almonds day, November 7th.
Where do you buy such a thing?
I mean, I- I would imagine like a Whole Foods
or one of those elite grocery stores,
Fresh Market, something artisanal.
Yeah, bittersweet that I won't be able to have any or you can like make
your own i guess like you know christmas candy chocolate bark uh yeah too much work too much
labor yeah not worth it yeah maybe audrey will sell us all these guys aldi would probably have
it too see they're great for this kind of stuff yeah aldi peter joe's aldi man same company do
you know that yes but do you like aldi I have not been to an Aldi in years.
Are you kidding me?
I'm a Harris Teeter gal.
Cause it's so close to my,
like,
come on,
my apartment,
you know,
like,
dude,
that is the place.
I prefer those random shit ever.
And it's awesome.
My,
when I took German in college,
my German professor would always bring us like,
we have German offered family that that come from Aldi.
My wife shops there not every trip, but maybe once or twice a month.
Do you have a lot of quarters?
Oh, she does.
You know, like to get that shopping cart out.
Oh, yeah, to get that cart.
You know, it's the weirdest.
I mean, I guess they don't end up with cans and I'm being rolled around on a community service day.
There you go.
Can't have that.
Yeah.
It's not an Aldi cart.
November 8th.
It is election day in the U S midterms.
Get out there and vote.
There you go.
That's where you use your energy folks vote.
Yep.
So you're, you know, that's, that's a useful call.
Your undecided friends and get them to vote too.
Yes.
I didn't realize the importance of midterms until very, like, you know,
till after I could vote.
And I wish that that had been taught to me at a younger age.
Yeah.
So start them young.
Yes.
Please vote in South Carolina.
Yeah, you need to.
I mean, like it's, I mean, I don't care where you side.
I'd rather just people vote so that we can all know what we signed up for.
And you can have your say.
Be informed.
Check your box and be informed.
So I'm all for that.
I'm all for energy around that.
Let's talk about that more.
All right.
Social media news.
Yes.
Finally on to some Musk business.
How could we not?
Yeah.
Finally on to some Musk business.
How could we not?
Yeah.
Musk has outlined a new $8 per month Twitter blue package,
including a verification tick available for everyone. So he's done away with verification for celebrities.
And as per his most recent tweet on the reformation of the platform,
Musk now says they're planning to offer verification ticks to all users for $8 a month
to combat the class divide in the app.
If you're willing to pay for this $8 per month verification, you also get priority in replies, mentions and searches,
the ability to post long video and audio, half as many ads and a paywall bypass for selected publishers.
I've got a lot of opinions on this.
Like, number one, I just want to I'm going to set this up with
with a reminder first social media is free these people have spent billions of dollars
to create these platforms and they're free yes they run ads on them but you don't have to use
them no one's forcing you to use these platforms.
You can go and watch TV or you can go read a book.
You can go live under a rock.
You don't have to use these platforms.
No one's making you use them.
But someone's invested money to create them and they've been free up until now.
I don't like everything Elon Musk does. I think he's kind of kooky weirdo sometimes but he's fucking successful for a reason and if he wants to charge for his platform that he bought that someone else built
then he has every right to do it now he may run off a lot of people I think it's silly that people
would run off to not spend eight dollars a month if your livelihood is you know tied to it or
something yeah if you're a writer or perspective, but like
no one, there's no, like the entitlement that people have to these platforms that they be free.
Even if there's ads on them, you're not entitled to get a free app or use of this. So I don't
understand, you know, all the uproar around that. Do I think it's the smartest business move?
I don't know yet.
I'm not smart enough to know what the runoff rate will be.
It's as dumb as I think it is for people to run off.
I don't I'm not I don't know.
But he has every right to try it and to see what happens.
And I don't think it's a terrible thing to have a little democratization of the platform as long as it just doesn't go to crap with a bunch of conspiracy theories and unproven facts.
That's my only fear.
But still his platform.
He bought it.
I mean, right.
Yeah.
It just launched this week.
Yesterday, maybe.
Yeah.
That's when that went through.
Yeah.
So we'll see.
I mean, they do have to make.
Look, it's not a company that's really making money right now.
Like it's, I think it's breaking even or making a little bit.
He's gotten into some issues with some ads, which is what we'll talk about next.
Yeah.
And I have an opinion here.
I think there's an opportunity here, but I'll let you tee it up.
Yeah.
So Musk taking over Twitter has led media brands and a couple other media outlets to recommend pausing on Twitter ads.
Media brands appears to be offering advice to its clients versus a hard mandate.
The recommended freeze is also just for one week per political politico, which could allow for some of the dust to settle before following the initial ownership transition.
I call this virtue, virtue signaling and political grandstanding.
Like, it's all.
If I really believed that any of these people in any of these brands
really, really were doing this for any moral reason whatsoever,
I can support you i just call me you know a little skeptical so um again what this means is if you're a smaller brand a medium-sized
brand you got a big opportunity on twitter right now because a lot of eyeballs are there because
everybody's saying i'm not going to use i'm not whatever but everybody wants to see what happens
on this train wreck so So whatever it is.
So there's people there.
Get in now.
So your ads can be seen.
And, you know, like it doesn't mean you're selling your soul to the devil.
I do think Elon is not an idiot.
He doesn't want hate speech.
I just don't believe he wants there to be free speech.
I don't think he wants hate speech and conspiracy galore.
He knows that's not going to make the platform survive.
I mean, so, again, I don't agree with every tactic.
This is less of an acknowledgment or an agreement with him.
I just think it's an opportunity for brands to get on the platform
and be seen maybe more affordably if some of these larger brands pull off.
That would be all just from a strategic marketing perspective um just my opinion well this is still saying you know just to pause the ads as opposed to
boycotting the platform yeah which i don't think is a poor piece of advice is like hey let's just
wait you know pause the payment see where this is going to land in a
week and a half after we've been under this new. I have no problem with pausing it. I just think
there's I'm kind of overlaying multiple stories. There's a lot of people in a lot of brands that
are like X thing, you know, getting out or talking about getting out completely. Yeah.
And I think the ones I haven't heard of any specific ones. Yeah. It's just it's all here.
It's Hey,
recommendations.
We're hearing this.
We're hearing that like no one Coca-Cola hasn't come out and gone.
We're not,
you know,
there hasn't been a firm announcement.
What I'm just saying is if you start to see that,
then I,
and nothing like truly else happens that like warrants that other than just
speculation or again,
grandstanding. But then I think that's your just speculation or again, grandstanding.
Yeah.
But then I think that's your opportunity to potentially get on the platform because you have less competition.
Sure.
And there are more eyeballs on it.
I would be shocked if the last three to four weeks, not the highest ever because there
were moments in time when Twitter was higher, but the last three to four weeks, not the highest ever because there were moments in time when Twitter was higher.
But the
last three to four weeks, I would guess,
are in the highest
levels of viewership and
usage
of the last year to
two years. I'd be shocked if it
wasn't.
It's possible.
It's just so much attention yeah people are talking about
it a lot that's for mainstream like people that like my dad you know my dad's on twitter but my
dad's talking about elon musk and twitter and baby glancing at it that means a lot more people
like my dad that never get on it or on it so using actually as as of October 26th,
Twitter is losing its most active
users, which is based on
internal documents from
the brand. So it's being talked about,
but. Yeah, we'll see
about that. But users are not.
Active users.
I wonder if that means,
if that accounts everyone
that has already been on it.
Like I need to see more of those data,
data lies and tells the truth.
Sometimes
Elon Musk tweeted about it.
Just interesting.
See where it's going to go.
Yeah.
People with like hundreds of millions of followers.
Yeah.
Wild.
Yeah.
We'll see all those bots,
man.
Now these are like actual people yeah i thought to
say he probably has like he's gonna probably have to take two steps backwards to take eight
four because the bots aren't active they mean they just like clutter everything no bots are active
yeah but when he's talking about active users he's not referring to bots he's talking about
like verified accounts with the at least the data i just pulled up um but on to some clothing news
because we haven't had that in a hot minute yeah ralph loren debuts fortnight clothing capsule tied
to physical apparel collection back on this again as part of the partnership the company has
redesigned its polo pony logo the first time the brand has done so in its 50 year history
inspired by the stadium collection and the polo sport line from the 90s, the brand is releasing two outfits
for Fortnite on Saturday, tomorrow,
and the physical capsule collection was
made available on its website this past Wednesday.
What's your thoughts on this?
Again, I think it's a smart move because Ralph Lauren
is such a classic brand and such
a, I don't think of it like
old lady, but I do think of it as very adult
and I think of Fortnite as so young and so Gen Z.
I think it's a really smart marketing ploy for them
to kind of get that trendiness back.
Yeah, because my,
I have one son that's definitely into fashion for his age.
Sure.
And others, a couple of the others are,
I mean, Hogan's into it hudson's into it clayton's
definitely lagging nash's six so but he's starting to kind of get into it yeah and polo is not on
the radar sure like i think they might accidentally own one polo shirt or a hand-me-down from like 1984 bought at the thrift store or
something the uh but so you know they they need to uh be doing things like right right
to not just be a you know such a classic it's never gone out It's just always been so. That polo was so iconic. Yeah. And then I don't know who it was, but like one of the cheap brands like polio polo stadium club or whatever.
Right. Right. That even throws me off to this day.
Which is it? It looks a lot like it, you know, like I think I bought one once, you know, like despite 15 years.
I'm like, oh, nice. This is, you know, like despite 15 years ago, I'm like,
oh, nice. This is, you know, cause I'm having Polo's quality stuff. Yeah. Yeah. And then you're
like, oh no. Polo stadium club or whatever. I've been duped. Got me. I've been duped. Got me.
And I didn't really care necessarily, but it was less that I cared that it was the horse, but like,
I think it was, I forget what it was,
but it started falling apart.
Right.
It's a quality thing.
It is a quality thing.
I was like,
wait,
what?
Then I really looked at the tag and I was like,
I've been lied to.
Got me.
But you know,
I mean,
oh,
when I grew up,
man,
that polo,
man,
that thing,
it was,
that was hot.
There was some clout.
You got that,
you got that polo cologne in the green bottle?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
That's what I'm talking about.
I used to recognize that one.
Wonder why people were walking away from you.
So potent.
My dad goes, son, you bathe in that stuff or what?
Yeah, that was my brother with Axe.
God, it was terrible.
So terrible.
Oh, yeah.
No, this is smart.
It makes sense.
I'd love to see the data on these things
you know but yeah it's where they need to be right because you want my you need my kids talking about
polo right they aren't just irrelevant and i mean i use them as a proxy for kids in general
next and i actually skipped this one michaelob ultra spotlights first woman in the boston
marathon for their empowerment campaign.
Their brand will launch Train Like a Pro Marathon Runner, a platform for runners with training tips from coaches.
The effort follows similar gender inclusive moves by Michelob Ultra and alludes to growing interest by alcohol brands to expand their reach to women and minority audiences.
This is a trend we're seeing.
Yes.
and minority audiences.
This is a trend we're seeing.
Yes.
Again, since we're starting in fashion here,
you are well,
more well,
much more well-versed than me.
I always want your opinion.
I think it's,
I mean, I think it's great.
I think that, you know,
women drink too.
And I'm not a, I'm not a McUltra fan.
Come on.
But I do,
I mean,
like beer has been such a staunchly masculine brand, essentially, you know.
So I think it's very smart.
And to also not make it aggressively feminine, which is, you know, they're not making it girly, which is nice.
I think there's still an edge to it.
And I like to run.
So I have interest in marathons. No interest in running
one but people who run them, mad respect.
Yes. I'll do
a 5K. Nick, what's your opinion on this?
You got an opinion here?
Well, I like
Michelob.
Are you an ultra guy?
Yeah, I'm doing ultra. Isn't that what we
have in the keg back there? From the keg, I was going to say.
That's what we got. Absolutely it is. Yeah, that's what we got.
Absolutely it is.
See, that's what I mean.
We're supporting this already.
We didn't even know it.
Didn't even realize it.
Yeah.
I can't believe you don't like Ultra, though.
I just, I'm not a huge... Do you like craft beer?
I don't love...
Are you a beer at all person?
I don't like super hoppy beers.
My favorite, like I typically go't like super hoppy beers. Um, my favorite,
like I typically go for sours are my favorites.
So I like,
like more fruity,
not super hazy.
Yeah.
I can't stand IPAs.
Oh no.
Too hoppy.
Yeah.
You like hoppy over there,
Nick?
You like hoppy beers?
A little bit.
Not really a beer guy.
More of a whiskey guy myself.
Yeah. Me too. A little more bourbon um yeah i like this i um i don't know you know you know what catches me like
marathon man whenever there's an article on a marathon. Like I envisioned myself trying to run 26 miles and I just like,
I think I shut her a bit.
I'm like,
and I can run five.
I'm not,
I'm in pretty good shape.
I can go do some cardio,
man. But like 26 fucking miles.
God,
I don't know.
There's yeah.
There's a friend of mine.
Um,
just went to Germany for the German marathon.
Like it's on her bucket list to run all of these like marathons around the
world and flying to Germany for the German marathon. Like it's on her bucket list to run all of these like marathons around the world and flying to Germany to run 26 miles.
Sounds awful to me.
Yeah.
But like I,
I would,
I would train to do half a mile,
like half a half marathon,
13 miles.
Yeah.
Even that stresses me out,
but I think like that's a little more attainable.
I could do that.
You know,
that sounds doable.
Right.
But look, I think Michelob Ultra does a really good job.
They've done a really good job of like they created.
Ultra has become a standalone brand in a lot of ways.
And I think they've done a good job of tying back the benefit of low carb, low calorie to functional things like this and exercise and
fitness and other things. I see them associated with all kinds of stuff and food sometimes. So
I think as a brand, they've done a good job of creating that connective tissue between
things that make sense for what their product is. Like you'd be surprised that you take,
Oh yeah,
I guess most companies do that.
Well,
not,
not all of them are as good with like connecting those dots.
Yeah.
And I do think Ulster does a good job.
I feel like I see them.
I saw them somewhere.
They had like a standee at the grocery store and it was like next to like
healthy foods or something because it was,
it was close to the beer section,
but it was kind of, they couldn't have it. I think like at the close to the beer section, but it was kind of,
they couldn't have it.
I think like at the front of the store necessarily,
but it was with that association.
I was like,
that was intentional.
I get it.
I see what you're doing.
Yeah.
So,
uh,
Hey,
hats off to them.
And you know,
you can get anybody,
minorities,
whoever you get more people doing marathons.
I imagine it's good for you.
Even though I think sometimes it's like 26 miles, like pounding your knees.
Is it really good for you?
Well, the history of the marathon,
to be a nerd, I mean, it's from
ancient Greece, right? And people would run
marathons and then literally die.
I mean, you would
run the marathon and you would die at the
end. And that was like a sign
of honor. I think there's a 78% chance that I would.
Same. Mine's a little bit higher.
That one's really like 82%. That would die at 26 miles.
Yeah.
No, thank you.
All right.
Next up, back to fashion inside American Eagles holiday social media strategy.
I love this brand.
So nostalgic for me.
The Gen Z retailer looks to immerse consumers in celebrations as company research found this holiday season is all about revenge living.
I think this is so great.
This year, the retailer is ramping up its activations across social media and the metaverse with the launch of three virtual shoppable experiences on Snapchat, a themed holiday market and expanded presence on Roblox and a holiday card hashtag challenge on TikTok meant to bring the community together and spread much needed holiday cheer after two years of the pandemic. Revenge living. I'm here for that.
That's so good. That's just so good. Yes. What is that? I mean, what did that mean to you? Like
when you hear revenge living? It's specifically referencing students who had, who had like
proms taken away and had like these, these iconic, very formative
things taken away from them over the past two years. So it's the idea of reclaiming youth in
a sense is where that, like it is specifically for your Gen Z demographic. Yep. I get it.
Some irony there in that, that then you want to go get on Roblox,
some irony there in that,
that then you want to go get on Roblox,
like revenge living.
I can't wait to get back on Roblox so I can get my,
you know,
X,
X back.
Yeah.
Put my goggles on.
I'm going to do it in the metaverse.
That's the revenge. The revenge life.
How's the metaverse?
Like you're getting of like,
I don't know.
Yeah.
Meta weddings.
I know,
but there's been a lot of pushback along the lines of what I was saying with this stuff that like,
you just aren't ready to get in the game all day, you know, like get the goggles on.
And I don't know.
I don't know.
IRL is real.
Yeah.
You know, that's a deep statement there.
In real life is real.
Put that on a T-shirt.
Yes.
But I totally do think that they have an insight here.
Clearly, they did some research.
Where people are making up for lost time a little bit.
It's just so different in every market, depending on how shut down, how locked out.
How much people miss. In some places, it's just so different in every market, depending on how shut down, how locked out, like how much people miss.
In some places it was, you know, two years almost.
Well, and it's so heavily affected the fashion industry
because people were doing so much remote work.
Like regardless of where you were located,
people weren't dressing up
and they didn't have the need for uniforms,
you know, regardless of how long your area
was affected by legislation,
it like the fashion industry took a huge hit with all of this. Yeah. So I think it's a very smart
way to ride the pendulum back the other direction. Yeah. Cool. Last one. Amazon fashion tries on
Snapchat's shopping lenses for AR fueled experience. What a boring article name.
Snapchat's shopping lenses for AR-fueled experience.
What a boring article name.
Amazon Fashion is leveraging Snapchat's augmented reality, AR,
shopping lenses to enable the app's users to virtually try on thousands of eyewear brands and styles available from the Amazon Fashion Store.
The eyewear activation is the first virtual try-on experience
to come out of a growing partnership between Amazon and Snapchat parent Snap.
As the companies noted, they plan to expand into additional verticals in the future. All right.
I'm a practical innovator. Like this makes sense to me. Like we talk about all this crazy shit with
VR and AR and like getting in the metaverse all day and like going to the store and ordering things.
And it's like making things harder to do in not real life as it is in real.
Okay.
Let's pause straight.
Can we just use AR so that I can see what something looks like on me before I wear it?
Yeah.
Clap to that.
That's great.
I mean, I've had the same problem because I have a big head.
I'm a big dude.
And I have crappy eyes.
And I hate going to LensCrafters, Stanton.
It's like too many people, not enough choices.
They're so damn expensive.
And this is like the same thing, kind of like tennis shoes.
Sometimes I need to see them on my feet.
Like, right.
This technology is there.
This is what we, this is practical.
Yeah, so use it for real things.
Right.
And like, you can see the glasses.
Okay, great.
I would love to do that.
Because my biggest problem is like, I see a pair on the wall or someone else has on.
Oh, I like those.
Yeah.
But until you put them on my big head, like, you don't really know.
The proportion's not quite right.
It's like sunglasses too. I'll see a guy go by, you don't really know. The proportion's not quite right. It's like sunglasses, too.
I'll see a guy go by, I'll buy a pair of sunglasses.
Oh, those are cool.
And then when I go to the store and put them on, I'm like, damn, I got the gigantic head.
Like, you know.
Little monocles.
Nicole will be like, honey, I mean.
You have my support, but no.
But no.
Those are, your head's too big.
I'm like, really?
Thanks for the honesty.
I don't know yet, because I haven't looked in the mirror. I've got them on, and she's looking at me, and I see the look on her face big. I'm like, really? Thanks for the honesty. Because I haven't looked in the mirror.
I've got them on and she's looking at me and I see the look on her face.
And I'm like, you're really disappointed.
Before I can even look in the mirror, I look in the mirror and it's like, whoa.
She was right.
A lack of lack.
Where did these mini sunglasses come from?
Oh, no.
Those are the regular size.
Wait.
It's not you.
It's me.
Yeah.
So this makes sense yeah and you know
i'd love snapchat i just i don't know snapchat just keeps fighting yeah they're calling fighting
i know people still use them a little bit little disappearing you know what hey
that's all i can just that's just all i imagine is a bunch of 16 year olds like sharing nudes no
i remember when the app first came out and my friend was explaining it to me.
Oh,
hell no.
And then my friend was like,
yeah,
you just like send pictures and they go away.
And I was like,
I don't want that.
No,
that's,
I was like,
that's for one thing and one thing only.
Like,
no,
I'm good.
Thank you.
You were so prudent.
I just don't,
that's just not my thing.
It was after or before, after my time.
Like, I was a married grown man.
Well, yeah.
We had to do it the old fashioned way.
Oh, my God.
They could go to anybody.
Yes.
They could be forwarded to anyone.
You had no idea in the wild.
In the real verse.
In the IRL.
No.
I was smart enough not to be snapping things or asking view houses.
Like, eh, I don't know.
I think that's what this stuff got so easy to use.
Like, people get comfortable.
Right.
Right.
No, I give it to Snapchat.
Yeah, this makes sense for them.
But it's using the technology they've already come up with in different ways and so it's cool i'm in for it i'm gonna go i'm actually probably gonna
go check this out because you know i'm always looking for like yeah sunglasses and um eyeglasses
yeah i don't i'm supposed to wear them a lot more but i have a hard time finding the exact ones i
was like i just got new contacts and i was like done done and done i had on a pair last night and i was they were like i was like i got a headache and i was like why do i have a hard time finding the exact ones. I just got new contacts and I was like, done, done, done.
I had on a pair last night and I was like, I got a headache.
And I was like, why do I have a headache?
Because they're squeezing on my big head.
I can't wear mine for like three days in a row.
I will get a massive headache.
Yeah.
So I know.
I agree.
And we'll see.
There we have it.
40 minutes.
Look at us go.
What a way to go out.
I know. Thanks for all your help. Indeed we go. Type 40 minutes. Look at us go. What a way to go out. I know.
Thanks for all your help.
Indeed, indeed.
Thank you.
Any final words of wisdom there, Nick, in your slides?
