Hey guys, what's up? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast.
Here is the Radcast News.
It's Friday, September 9th, 2022.
Ticklebox Central here at the Radcast.
I know, we are punchy and you have your adult punch there with you today.
We recorded a little later than normal.
To the queen.
Maybe we did, maybe we didn't. Maybe this is, you know, the morning beverage, but yeah.
Yeah, cheers to the queen.
Yeah, if we'd recorded on time, she'd still be with us.
Dark joke.
This is true.
Yeah, it was a dark joke.
It's fine.
For you.
Yeah, and listen, I can go there.
But, yeah, Queen Elizabeth II dies at age 96, which is wild.
It was wild.
She was the second oldest.
Been around a long time.
Longest serving monarch.
She was 70 years. Yeah. Wow. Yeah yeah it's a long time to do anything she was
crowned when she was 25 which is the same age that leo would have stopped dating her so if you
listen last week leonardo dicaprio quits on quits on all his lovers at uh 25 uh but for some
interesting context queen elizabeth has been or was alive for 30% of
American history, which is insane
to think about.
So you have to see a lot of our
ups and downs.
To be sure.
More ups than downs, but
a lot of history.
Speaking of history, today's our
weekly marketing and advertising news edition.
Indeed.
Wherever, however, whenever you are.
We're just out of all order here.
Nothing wrong with it. That Queen news was kind of breaking news.
So it kind of needed to break in before even all the intros.
So I like it.
I got ahead of myself.
I don't like that the Queen passed.
I think it's sad.
I've never been like a monarch junkie or anything like that.
But you have to recognize the significance.
It's a big deal.
It is.
Another big deal, literally, physically.
But that's pun intended.
Twitter and Elon Musk are going to go into the octagon on October.
It is officially set for October.
Musk has been trying to get it pushed back,
but the lawyers of Twitter will not allow it,
will not stand for it.
Yeah. 44 billion, is that what I don't know how this is going to play out because I don't either
Twitter's I thought Twitter had a good argument yeah you know for a while then the whistleblower
comes out and you know they've got like all these platforms have some amount of fraud or spam or
whatever going on.
So I don't know how they're going to defend that.
There's probably proof of it.
Right.
And I don't even know that they can help it per se.
There's just always going to be bad actors and bots and everything else.
So that's going to be fascinating to watch.
It's like.
Yeah, I care and I don't at the same time.
It's kind of like when you think about it, like I think about like if you're going to get married and suddenly someone didn't want to marry you,
but someone still did.
And they're like, we're going to hold you to this.
I feel like it's kind of like an episode of Andy Griffith.
Like this one family,
like didn't want the son to marry this daughter
because they were rivaling families in the Rocky Mountains.
And anyway.
Hatfields and the McCoys.
Hey, that's exactly who it was.
Thank you.
There you go.
You know Andy Griffith.
You grew up in the South.
I did.
That's the greatest show ever.
Still there.
It was so good.
So good.
Old Barney Fife.
But, you know, on the same level,
Twitter and Musk as the Andy Griffith show.
The modern day Hatfield and mccoy's yes uh
it will be fascinating how this plays out yes i truly truly i could see an argument for both
sides but when you don't want to buy the company anymore i think what it's coming down to the
reason they're holding them to it they just want to get the billion dollar fee yep okay fine you
don't want to we'll take a billion dollars to our bottom line.
Right.
I think that's really all this is coming down to.
And so.
Not a bad deal.
Yeah.
We'll see how it goes.
In the battle of.
Twitter's history.
Yeah.
Ownership.
Tweet that.
In some.
Some rad news.
Rad news.
Hope everyone enjoyed our re-release of Will Ahmed from Whoop, founder of Whoop, the most
advanced, most popular fitness wearable.
Wearable.
Wearable.
It's an interesting word.
It's a fun word.
Yeah.
Fun to say.
Just a wearable.
You never know how that thing's tracking.
But anyway, really good episode.
Will is great, really insightful.
Brilliant, yeah.
A lot of great knowledge on small business,
large, but running a business, being an entrepreneur and what it took to kind of get
whoop where it is. Some of the history, some of the things that have already transpired,
quite frankly, they're blowing up and great to have him on. And again, we'll re-mention
Think Billions, the event. Coming up. nick and i'll be on the road for october
21st to the 23rd go to think billions dot club learn more about about that it's all about look
thinking bigger acting bigger not even acting just acting like you know you know you're ready
to take the next step this is like just. You know, we talk about it's successful
people that are ready to like really take the top off. And this isn't for people that are trying to
get there. There's a lot of events for those. I've been to many of them, believe me.
And, but this is for really high notch people that have already had a a minimum amount of success and they really want to
come and learn how to think billions how to think bigger how to really play on a higher plane
than they have been and it's gonna be a great event we're gonna do lots of interviews there
and be involved with that with howard paynes and team. So we're excited for that. October 21st
through the 23rd, come to the site, learn all about it, and you can apply. There is an application
that sounds hoity-toity. It's not meant to be that way. But the reality is this is a small event.
This isn't 10,000 people in an auditorium. This is maybe 100 people total at a castle, a large home in Palm Desert, California.
So we hope you will check it out.
And if the shoe fits, you need to wear it.
Think billions.
Thinkbillions.club.

brandabills.com got some news today we do we've got some social media news first i'm excited about
this because i've wanted this for a long time tweet editing is here with live testing now active
in the app tweets will be editable another fun word within the first 30 minutes of following
their publication this is designed to limit the capacity for people to update viral tweets in retrospect
because you won't know just how much reach a tweet will eventually get within the first half hour.
About damn time.
Yeah, I got to tell you, I don't use, I'm on Twitter.
I used to use a lot.
I have like 10,000 followers.
I don't know how I still do because like literally I tweet once a month. Uh, maybe I've got, I'm getting better, but this will make
me want to tweet more. Cause I always thought this was the dumbest thing. It was so annoying.
I've deleted so many tweets. Yeah. Where like I wrote the wrong thing or I didn't finish what I
was going to say or I want it like it's just something. It's like I never, I never understood
why you couldn't edit it. It was that like real time kind of mindset.
Yeah, I get it.
Help with getting canceled.
And it's definitely not edible.
It's because when I first read the article,
you very carefully spelled that out.
Editable.
Phonetically correctly.
Thank you, yes.
But I was like, it was not edible.
Sometimes I do want to eat some tweets, you know?
I should have those Tony the Tiger ones.
This next one is no surprise.
TikTok has been voted the most innovative ad platform in a brand new survey.
The study incorporated a response from over 18000 consumers and 900 senior marketers, which also found that consumers view TikTok ads as the most fun and entertaining.
While TikTok also increased its overall trust score among marketers this time around.
Are we surprised?
No.
You know, like...
Is it innovative, though?
Or is it just the same but better?
It's just the fastest growing,
and so it's like they got to give it to someone.
They're going to award it to Facebook or Instagram.
And the algorithm is better, isn't it?
The algorithm is better for organic content.
That's why, you know, like most innovative platform would have,
I probably would have been there when they, but the ad,
the ad games improved a lot, by the way.
But I don't know, just because the content is interesting
doesn't mean the ad platforms are so interesting.
It's been kind of a pain in the ass to use into the last like six or eight months.
So, you know, just because the ads themselves are entertaining
doesn't mean the platform itself.
Just because the survey says doesn't mean.
No, but look, it's just another sign TikTok's here to stay,
making a big dent,
and it's a good place to be for the right ads.
And what I think they've done well is early on educating brands
the type of content that works and doesn't work on there.
And I think so thus the ads typically are a little better
because people learn real quick.
You can't just throw a 30-second spot on TikTok.
You get Swipe City in a hurry.
And it's gone.
And so no one's watching that.
And so I think brands learned that early on
and thus the content's been better.
Sure.
And then the ad buying has gotten better.
So we'll see where it goes.
On to our marketing news.
I don't know how I feel about this.
Apple promotes a bigger iPhone screen
to accommodate streaming and gaming.
The standard iPhone 14, I can't believe we're at 14, comes in two sizes.
The popular 6.1 inch design and a new plus version with a 6.7 inch screen that's intended to better accommodate video streaming and gaming.
Just buy an iPad.
Yeah.
I mean, here's what I'll say about this.
Related to unrelated.
Typical.
I do watch the commercials with the folding Samsung and I'm like, that's pretty cool.
Cause you can fold it up.
Look, I loved my flip phone.
And it gets out of the way.
Yeah.
You know, so like you get that big, huge screen while you're watching, but then it folds up like a phone.
So it's not gigantic like you know annoying
do you hear us apple we want to so yeah i would love an apple flip phone now i would never get
one because no matter how much how sexy it looks just iphones the os is so much better oh they're
so much better and then all the android people are gonna text me how much sorry keep it the uh
the the point is there's been little innovation in the design of the form,
the form factor of the phones in a long time.
Yeah.
And so just going a little bigger, you know, I mean, what was it before?
The plus, they had a plus size last year.
Yeah.
Was it 6.5?
I mean, that.2?
It's something like that.
It's what I have.
I don't know, but it's large.
Yeah.
We'll see. And I get it. Look, everyone's watching movies and different things. If don't know, but it's large. Yeah, we'll see.
And I get it.
Look, everyone's watching movies and different things.
If you're going to do it, you want a bigger screen, but a tablet or folding Samsung out.
It's like all they can do is make them bigger.
We'll see.
Next up, Starburst beams TikToks into space to engage Gen Z.
From now until October 14th, TikTok users can create a video that asks,
how do they make Starbursts taste so juicy?
With hashtag beam it up Starburst for a chance for the video to be beamed into space via a partnership with Space Speak.
Gen Z is the cohort most interested in space.
63% of Gen Z is interested over the average US 49%. Well, when you mix two things I really like, when you say beam it up, I mean
they go to Star Trek and then
Starburst, which I really like.
I mean, you have a winner on your hands.
It's fun anyway. It's a lot of fun.
And they actually beam it up.
Yes.
I did wonder why it was always so juicy.
What's your favorite Starburst flavor?
Strawberry. See, I like the orange ones
like a psychopath. I like the orange ones like a psychopath I like the orange
I'm an equal
the only ones I don't
necessarily love
are the yellow ones
sure
I don't know why that
yellow and everything
you know
like yellow
I love lemon anything
lemon
yeah
I'll pass on that
you know what's good
candy
Pez
flavored chalk
really
yeah
you know
do you like Pez Nick
come on Nick oh yeah oh yeah the toys
are fun but the candy it's chalk no it's tasty goodness they have like special kinds too you
know oh yeah i like to get the old like i wonder let's get a radcast pez dispenser yes oh yeah you
need a ryan pez dispenser with your head on top. Challenge accepted. Challenge accepted. I can make that happen.
Oh, man.
I do like this.
Hey, look,
it's the exact user group doing the exact type
of content you should.
I had no idea
that Gen Z was so interested
in space.
Neither did I.
But hey, okay.
All right.
While we're on our candy kick,
Snickers kicks off
NFL season
with a hunt
for rookie mistakes.
I love this.
Newly released
Snickers packaging
features a QR code that directs consumers to a link
to submit their mistakes.
This is a play on rookie football players and obviously rookie mistakes.
Yeah.
Clever.
It is clever.
I want to see, I'd like to know where you go to watch all these though.
You know what I've gotten back into is America's Funniest Home Videos a little bit.
I've been watching that on sunday nights here and there you know like long week oh yeah long
weekend sometimes should have been but sometimes this oh yeah uh and it's like putting on a little
america's like just some of the dumbest thing ever and all alonzo's cheesy as hell but to this thing
everybody likes watching look fails, fails are great.
That's the same thing, right?
Everybody loves fail videos. My kids are watching it.
I'm embarrassed. Oh my gosh. And I love
America's Funniest Home Videos because you just start laughing
and then you're just like coughing.
This is just a play on fails
and they're wrapping around NFL
because, you know, so it's fun.
Snickers is the official candy bar.
Give me that QR code and go watch some fails.
Snickers.
You like a good Snickers?
I love Snickers.
Yeah.
I love a good Snickers bar.
It satisfies.
It does.
It's the right mix.
That's the marketing, Toby.
You're not you and you're hungry.
No, it used to be all Snickers satisfies
was the original campaign.
Back in your day.
Back in my day.
We got worked on some of that. Yeah, it sticks to your teeth a little bit though caramel but man it's good for you you know pez i will say this snickers is the one candy bar that kind of
fills me up like a snack yeah i can and i don't look out because there's some protein i can't
even tell you last time i had a full-sized chocolate bar,
so let's just be clear about this.
But back in the day when I would eat more candy bars
and it was a little heftier,
a chocolate bar, you eat that thing and it's like,
oh, it's delicious, but I can eat eight of them.
Snickers is kind of like a good...
Satiates a little bit.
Yeah, I think it's the peanuts maybe.
Yep.
A little protein.
Absolutely.
A little caramel.
So good.
Got to love them.
Tom Brady asks Gen Z athletes
to ditch toxic comparisons
in an Under Armour ad.
In the hero spot,
NFL quarterback Tom Brady
asks Morgan Freeman
to read a letter he penned
to an up-and-comer
being called
the next Tom Brady.
Brady's note instructs
the recipient
to tune out the noise
and compare themselves to nobody but the kid in the mirror,
featuring the tagline,
Be the athlete no one saw coming.
What say you?
I think Tom Brady's starting to get a little more mainstream,
is what I think.
I feel like he's opened up and done more things
in the last couple years.
I didn't feel like you ever saw him in advertising,
but now he's about to come out of football and it's starting to open up a
little bit.
So I work.
Do you agree with that,
Nick?
Yeah.
He's been doing all kinds of videos on social media too.
You know?
Yeah.
Remember that one where he hit the golf ball?
Yeah.
When I was in New York,
like one of my acting coaches worked with him on some commercials and said
that he like was awful on commercials.
So I think that he's probably just loosened up and gotten more comfortable doing advertisements.
Well, he's always been a little stiff.
I think it's personalities.
Oh, yeah.
But he would get so nervous, apparently.
That's what makes him great at football.
He's so intense.
But, yeah, I don't know.
It's fun.
Yeah, I like the spot.
I mean, it's be the athlete no one saw coming.
Because he was not top pick.
He's been playing that violin for quite a while.
Like it's like,
he's now like the greatest player to ever play.
He's won 27 Superbowls.
So I mean,
unreal,
you know,
he's,
he's worn that one.
He was like a six round draft pick or something.
And yeah.
So,
I mean,
again,
I think it's smart.
It is.
And he's going to be on TV probably as an announcer or whatever.
So he needs to expand his horizons.
Not that people don't know who he is, but maybe just different generations.
But when you think about it, 20-year-olds, they know who Tom Brady is because they're still in the NFL.
But they don't know it as well as a 35-year-old.
Right.
You know?
Right.
That's a good point.
Got to keep it up there to keep your marketability high.
Get those Gen z's in
there yeah and last but not least wendy's latest rick and morty crossover opens portal to uber eats
are you a rick and morty fan uh not really yeah i couldn't get into it it's a little silly yeah
but wendy is re-upping its partnership with rick and morty as the adult swim series enters its
sixth season the tie-up this year incorporates an Uber Eats component where the delivery app will
feature a special Morty's menu promoting combo meals inspired by the sci-fi comedy.
Yeah.
I mean, it's right in the lane for where Wendy's needs to be.
Right.
So I get it.
Are you a Rick and Morty?
You watch Rick and Morty?
Not really.
It doesn't seem like your type of thing. I could not really it didn't it didn't seem like i could
not get into it i couldn't see you watching that i couldn't see myself watching it but
but there was a big thing with the the szechuan sauce with mcdonald's that i mean
like they have this huge tie with fast food chains which i think is interesting
yeah and i always thought adult swim you know it's like gonna be like a
dirty channel or something like i know i know you do i saw it it's like oh it's nickelodeon like oh right all right it's weird what is this you know
and i realize it's adult card cartoons that you know i can't do it man you know i like simpsons
yeah but the simpsons is like the og yeah and i like big mouth big mouth is like like the one
that i enjoy the most because i like the comics behind it. It seems like there were maybe one or two others that were pretty good.
But I can't think of them.
I couldn't get into this one, though.
But Simpsons, I used to be like, can't miss TV.
Right.
Sunday night, 8 o'clock, that Simpsons, you know.
Set the precedent.
Yeah.
Bart Simpson.
You watch Simpsons?
A little bit.
A little bit. That's kindons a little bit a little bit
that's kind of
a little bit of
y'all were too young
your parents probably
didn't let you watch it
oh yeah
no I didn't
yeah I've seen like
it was kind of adult swim
before adult swim
yeah for sure
you know
for sure for sure
the deep end
that's what they called that
but all kinds of crossovers
put those swimmies on
you need to watch that
there Nick
there you go crossovers. Put those swimmies on. You need to watch that there, Nick.
There you go.
Oh,
hey,
tight 21 minutes,
you know,
um,
do you have to pick up children,
you know?
Yes.
Finish that beer.
Yeah.
Uno,
uno,
a beer.
Any final words?
I got nothing.
Come on.
Go Tigers.
There you go. Yeah.
That was a place Furman.
And we did win.
So I'm not,
that's why I wasn't drowning in my sorrows.
That's why I had a beer.
Celebration of Clemson beating Georgia Tech.
There you go.
Yes.
So,
uh,
we wrecked the rambling wreck.
Yep.
My Tar Heels won last weekend.
So we're doing good. Third quarter. We're doing Tar Heels won last weekend, so we're doing good.
Barely after the third quarter.
We're doing good.
Yeah, yeah, that was a crazy game.
I mean, I've never seen it.
That was a fun one to watch in a bar, let me tell you.
Like, we were at the lake and going out on the boat or whatever,
and it was 35-21.
Going into the fourth quarter, I'm like,
Thor Clownett's going to win, no big deal.
Like, three hours later, I saw the final score
and I had to do a double take.
That was a misprint.
It was insane.
I was like, what?
63-61?
I was doing the math.
I was like,
they scored 60 points
in the fourth quarter?
I know, in the fourth quarter
and still lost
and still did not win.
Crazy.
Anyway.
There you go.
College football season
is in full swing.
Yes. Hopefully you enjoyed. College football season is in full swing. Yes.
And hopefully you enjoyed last night's NFL game.
And just in case you DVR'd it, we're not going to give away the results.
So the Rams and the Bills.
So we'll talk about it next week.
