Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to The Radcast, a top 25 worldwide business podcast. If it's radical, we cover it. Here's your host, Ryan Alford. What's up, guys? Welcome to the latest edition of The Radcast. It's Friday, January 12th, 2024. Our weekly marketing and business news of the week. And our favorite small talk with my best friend, my good buddy, my little buddy, Chris Hansen.
Starting point is 00:00:39 What's up, brother? How are you? I'm good. I'm good, dude. I'm happy to be here. Happy to have another weekly news Radcast, brother. How are you? I'm good. I'm good, dude. I'm happy to be here. Happy to another weekly news radcast, brother. I know. It is. And the people they need.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Bringing the people the news they need and the news they don't. And a little in between. Yeah, that's for sure. Oh, it's been a good week for you? We got this week. Been a good week so far? Yeah, man. I feel like we're back? It's been a good week. It's been a good week so far? Yeah, man. I feel like we're back in the swing of things in 2024.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Yep. It's getting into mid-January already. It's wild. We'll blink and it will be March 15th. Then we're like, whoa, it's getting warm in the spring. The faster we get out of these winter doldrums, the better. We've got this cold front coming through. The highs in the mid-40s here in the Carolinas is just not natural, man.
Starting point is 00:01:29 It's no bueno. What's the weather? What's the temp in Miami today? It's about 75. Oh, God. Nice. Yeah. 75 and sunny.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I will say that it's been nasty, though, the past couple of days. Just cloudy and dull. Yep. I think everyone on the East Coast is getting a little bit of weather right now. Yes, we had rain galore. We had flooding all galore here at the office. But hopefully everyone's dry, warm, and safe out there wherever you are, whenever you are, where you might be listening.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Whether you're on the treadmill, if you're running, driving in the car, or making a sandwich at the house. You never know. But we appreciate you for making us the number one show on Apple in marketing and business. And the Consumer Electronics Show is going on pretty much as we speak, Chris. And this first article, which comes to us from our good friends at NBC, those guys are... Stand-up guys over at NBC. We love them. We love those guys in NBC News. Everything's about AI now, right?
Starting point is 00:02:37 We all know that. And so this one tickled my fancy. It could be a mocktail for you, but an AI bartender makes drinks based on customers' moods. The CES show, that's the Consumer Electronics Show for me and you, in Las Vegas is featuring a new kind of bartender, an AI-powered robot that will mix you a drink based on your mood. It's basically we're moving to robots in the house.'m telling you we're gonna have it the robot's gonna be like no sir you're not having a whiskey coke we're gonna make you something else because we need to fix that
Starting point is 00:03:17 mood right now but let's think about how let me just give you everybody so i'm going to ground everyone in time and place here with a movie so in rocky three my numbers might be wrong but i think it's rocky three this is what it was mr t rocky gave his one of his trainer buddies a housekeeper robot that like went around and would like talk to him as my math recalls this is like late 80s and in the late 80s we had housekeeper robots that i guess the very rich and wealthy had they certainly didn't have the ai capabilities but now we're just now moving towards the ai bartender so are we ahead are we behind folks that's what i want to know if you don't remember that you need to go watch that rocky movie i just remembered that when it made me think of this one seeing this and i'm like okay imagine in your house you had a housekeeper bartender and all in one that's what
Starting point is 00:04:14 i'm like can we not like also program it to do some more like useful stuff yeah cut the grass what else can you do for me to help my mood besides making a drink yeah can you clean do my laundry yeah exactly yeah help me out with the important decisions here exactly can you fold my clothes can you wash the dishes and i got i'm all for a drink but let's get practical here with what these robots can do don't tell me we're just stuck at the roomba you gotta have more coming at me than the roomba can we put a body on the roomba i love my roomba yeah everybody seems to swear about those things and i don't know we're probably like like a family in a house with all hardwoods like most likely that should have a room but don't yeah i don't know i'm i need it for the dog i feel like i i don't know i want to punt that thing if you came zooming by me or does it come out while you're
Starting point is 00:05:11 sleeping and then i'd hear it at night you said when it goes out if honestly those days i'll stand there for four minutes and just watch it and i'm like technology man it's productive at his job like how does it get around those chords especially in this corner where i record at as soon as watch it. And I'm like, technology, man, it's productive at his job. Like, how does it get around those cords? Especially in this corner where I record at, it's around it on camera, but there's cords and wires everywhere. And it's,
Starting point is 00:05:33 is it just avoid them? It does a good job. Yeah. It'll get stuck for a few minutes. And I'm not going to lie. I was watching it the other day and I was like, and they're telling us these things are going to kill us. This thing can't even figure out how to get around this cord right now.
Starting point is 00:05:49 We should set up a video trying to trick the Roomba. There's cords and shit everywhere. See how smart it really is. That's what I picture they do in the R&D. They're just like, all right, let's throw a bunch of random shit on the ground and obstacles and just see what this thing can do. I'm going to throw some thumbtacks, some three-in-one oil, get this thing sliding all over the place.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Two socks. Congratulations if you're a Michigan fan. It's not a sports show, but we're dudes and a lot of dudes listen. A lot of Michigan fans, women. It's not just a dude thing by the way. My wife was into it. We were watching it. But it's
Starting point is 00:06:23 historically that dudes sitting around couches like overeating, overdrinking by the way. My wife was into it. We were watching it. But it's historically that dudes sitting around couches like overeating, overdrinking. But no, it was a better team and manhandled Washington. And did you watch any of that game? I didn't.
Starting point is 00:06:40 I saw like the highlights on social media, but I didn't sit down and watch any. It was a good first half Michigan was going to pound them they ultimately ended up pounding them but it was an entertaining game for the most part it's amazing what cheating will do for you
Starting point is 00:06:56 congratulations oh I'm going to get some hate mail for that they say cheaters never win I'd going to get some hate mail for that. They say cheaters never win. I'd like to beg to differ. They've been doing sign stealing or whatever they've been doing. Congratulations to the cheaters. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:07:19 Some of that stuff is so bogus. Stealing signs like every team isn't stealing signs. Come on, man. Doing some scouting. All he's doing is deploying NFL tactics in college. Let's make the guys sit out for a couple games. It's dumb. Anyway, congrats to Michigan.
Starting point is 00:07:35 They do deserve it. I don't think they're cheaters. I just think the game is whack. And someone had it out for them. It would be interesting if old Harbaugh sticks around and goes back to the NFL. He's probably going to say screw it after dealing with that bullshit. So congratulations, Wolverines. They do have one of the best mascots in jerseys. Who wouldn't want to be a Wolverine?
Starting point is 00:07:56 You got some of these mascots that are like, eh. At least I grew up with a tiger. That was ours. Tigers, Wolverines. That's tough. UCF was the golden knights, and they changed to the knights. But I never felt like that was honest. I didn't think that was a badass mascot.
Starting point is 00:08:15 I was more of like a Seminole fan, Vader fan. Seminole's cool. Like Alabama, the Crimson Tide, it's kind of like an elephant or something. You look at their mascot. Okay, Crimson Tide, it's kind of like an elephant or something. You look at their mascot. It's like, okay, Crimson Tide sounds cool. But then they're like absolute, the animal or something. It's like an elephant. I don't know the connection there.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Yeah, that's past my knowledge base for the. They play good football. They do play good football. Don't always make up who it is. So congrats to Michigan. And look, back to marketing. Lots of commercials. But let me tell you, for as big as that game was and how many people were watching it,
Starting point is 00:08:52 it's the same commercials over and over again. They weren't even new commercials. And I know it's not the Super Bowl. But, geez, can we get some fresh commercials or something? It was the same shit over and over again. If I see John Travolta as Santa Claus one more time, dancing to whatever it is on Capital One, it's, look, it's January 10th, like 8th or whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:09:12 It's like Christmas was three weeks ago, two weeks ago. I love Santa Claus, but it's anybody. But they must have gotten good rankings or good ratings for that commercial to start. I guarantee you their scores were high. And so they've been wearing that shit out. And even my wife was like, the first time she saw it, oh, I like that commercial. Fun music. And now she was like all but throwing plates through the TV.
Starting point is 00:09:36 All right, I'm over it. But TOMA people, top of my awareness, they got it. Capital One. Already have one. I got my Venture card. Getting those points, baby. I will say, I'll take time to say, I'll be in Mexico on Saturday. Family's headed out of town.
Starting point is 00:09:54 A little R&R for the Alford's. So I will be sipping on a Mai Tai about this time tomorrow, Chris. Just for the record. I love that for you. I really do. I really hope it's an AI bartender, though. It speaks Spanish. It only speaks Spanish.
Starting point is 00:10:14 Then he can guess my mood. No, senor. Un margarita para ti. I know best, not you. Yes. Por favor. AI bartender. I love Mexico. We go there every. Yes. Por favor. Hey, bartender. I love Mexico.
Starting point is 00:10:26 We go there every year almost. Good people, good fun. Gets a bad rap on the news. Totally agree. A lot of good people down there. Don't believe the news. Don't believe everything. Don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:10:38 I don't want our borders being crushed. So I'm not saying that. But the people are amazing. Shout out to the mexican people and the offers are coming for some loving for you and for us the nfl sees huge spikes in tv viewers this also comes from our friend good friends and in its biggest season since 2015 so the ranking the ratings are up folks for the nfl And it's all due to Taylor Swift. I was just going to ask, what do you think this is because of the Kelsey Swift love entanglement?
Starting point is 00:11:14 I don't think it hurts. I'll tell you that. I don't think it's all that. No, definitely not. Those videos of her in the box suites at the games is great marketing. games is great marketing. It says the NFL's regular season games drew an average of 17.9 million viewers, matching the second highest figure since 1995. This represents a 7% increase from the previous season attributed to the league's
Starting point is 00:11:39 newest television contracts and at least 24% growth in two of the five packages. television contracts and at least 24% growth in two of the five packages. Notably, 2015 holds the record with an average of 18.1 million viewers. I think there's more places to watch it. I think YouTube took on and did a really good job marketing the NFL Sunday ticket package. And then I think there's just prime video on Thursday nights. There's more places to watch it. So the total opportunity with streaming and things like that's gotten better.
Starting point is 00:12:14 And I do think there's these subplots. I mean, I think Taylor Swift played into it a little bit. Look, the Packers-Bears game viewership didn't go up because of Taylor Swift. I think individual games with the Chiefs certainly probably spiked. But I do think it brought more – it may have a halo effect by bringing a new audience to the game. And then maybe they're sticking around. Do you think with now kind of the normalization of the sports betting too, where – Yeah, absolutely. Do you think with now the kind of the normalization of the sports betting too, where that's become much, at least for a guy like me,
Starting point is 00:12:50 that would get me more into, if I'm betting on these games, my viewership is going up 100%. There's a direct correlation with the legalization increasing in betting, the opportunity to bet, ESPN had bet like all these things that are making it more major and then more people watching it because i can tell you this this if you got a little wager in the game you're more likely to watch it i'm a little bit i'm invested literally yeah you're invested and so i think as that proliferates it's better for the nfl and so what does this mean from a marketing business standpoint
Starting point is 00:13:29 unfortunately the big get bigger because if you can afford a sponsorship and or tying your name or having any type of the nfl it's going to be good that's why you're seeing things like, okay, non-trust things like wine. If you've noticed, the official sponsor of like wine sponsor is the one with a barefoot. Like one of the wine drinks, I think it's Barefoot is the name of it. Yeah, one of the well-known, Justin or Barefoot. Yeah, something you can get in every grocery store. And so you're seeing the commercials like that. And that's not something you would normally see tied to it,
Starting point is 00:14:08 but people just know the scale and scope. And you know that there's both men and women, and look why it's gotten more popular. It might skew towards women. And so there's a ton of women watching the NFL too. So you've got these audiences increasing. And so tying yourself to the NFL and football, and look, here's your little inside tip coming up.
Starting point is 00:14:28 It's early. Playoffs are just starting. So go ahead and plan. You can't use the word Super Bowl, but you can say the big game. So in your marketing, as you start doing it, saying come out and watch the big game. Or we've got, you're selling TVs, you're selling furniture, you're selling anything related to a Super Bowl experience. Just talk about the big game. That's what they do.
Starting point is 00:14:54 You're going to see a lot of that language coming up. The big game's coming up there. And go ahead and start planning those Super Bowl parties. And if you're a brand, tie yourself to the NFL. Not a bad place to be. If you can afford it and if you can't, then you just get smart and indirectly do it. Host watch parties, those kind of things. Starting point is 00:15:23 on marketing, personal branding, podcasting, life. Give that a shout. Join that. It's free. It's daily. Just like this show. Give away our best advice. The Tito's.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Back to liquor. Had to get back quickly, Chris. Get back to it. Tito's introduces. This show is Tito's introduces a roguish spokes cart in rye rebuke of celebrity liquor ads. Okay. Tito's Handmade Vodka, an Austin, Texas-based brand, is launching its first ever brand platform with Tito's, is the name of that, featuring four new commercials without any celebrity endorsements. Instead, instead, the ads created by a creative company to be named feature a unique spokes cart, a drinks cart that appears in various scenarios, enhancing the moments with its presence in Tito's vodka. Designed to reflect Tito's brand qualities, laid back, warm, and
Starting point is 00:16:26 a bit imperfect. Mirroring the handcrafted nature of the vodka, the new advertising approach will be used across social and digital platforms. The initiative marks a shift towards a unifying brand platform for Tito's aiming for consistency
Starting point is 00:16:41 across various marketing channels. It's currently the top spirits brand in the U.S. by retail dollars. Interesting enough. I remember when it was nothing. I remember when that stuff first started taking off like 15 years ago or something. Tito's. You guys have Tito's? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:03 And I personally don't think it tastes that great, and I'm not a huge vodka drinker. But anyway, this episode not brought to you by Tito's. But Kettle One's actually where it's at. If you want the best vodka at the best price, Kettle One can sponsor us. But here's the deal. I do like, it's got spokes cart. I get it. Spokesperson, spokes cart. At first, I was like, that's a really hard word to say.
Starting point is 00:17:21 But I get where they're going with this. They want to make, all they're trying to do here is instead of making the celebrity, the hero, they're making the product, the hero, which is, I get it. And it makes sense. I think it just means they don't really want to pay for a spokesperson or they only want to pay a celebrity. And look, there's two sides of the coin when you do borrowed interest. So I believe in it personally, especially 99% of the time.
Starting point is 00:17:47 It has value, shared interest. But Tito's isn't wanting to share the stage with, insert celebrity name here, they want the product to take center stage and to be the hero. So they're not sharing their own interest with the celebrity and vice versa. They're owning it themselves. And I think, look, when you are the number one spirits brand in the U.S., you have that top of mind awareness already. You probably play this game. I don't know that every brand can play that game.
Starting point is 00:18:17 I'd have to see the executions to truly evaluate. But that's what's happening from a marketing perspective. They don't want any shared or lost brand equity in sharing the stage, along with they've probably spent their money elsewhere and don't really want to pay a celebrity a million dollars to be in the commercial as well. So they have a spokes cart. This cart better be really good looking and have really big wheels. Or something like that, Chris.
Starting point is 00:18:53 I have no comment. Better have some shiny wheels on those, rims on those wheels. Who knows, on that cart. Not just the Tito's. Yeah, I'm interested to see it i want to see the execution yeah we'll see titos spokes cart bounty and the nfl greats clean up after wings and football talk partner and gamble's bounty paper towels is gearing up for the nfl playoffs and super bowl with exclusive social content featuring football duos and messy game day wings.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Campaign building on last year's Super Bowl focus includes a four and a half minute YouTube titled Wingman Stories Spill the Sauce featuring Rob Gronkowski and Rob Gronkowski in every NFL commercial. And Julian Ellman discussing their football careers while cleaning up with bounty towels. The series will continue with the second episode featuring Cincinnati Bengals players Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Hey, I like Tee Higgins, Clemson University, baby. Wider Severe U, along with additional content featuring Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills players.
Starting point is 00:20:04 The campaign aims to capitalize on the popularity of wings during the Super Bowl and position Bounty as the go-to paper towel choice for cleaning up the mess. All right. Back to big brands get bigger. Partnering with NFL. Wings. Players. Messes.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Bounty. The quicker picker-upper. That's good marketing. Top of mind. I knew that one. I didn't you have named that camp could you have named that tagline right there chris yeah for sure it printed in my brain exactly that is the branding of the quicker picker yeah dude yeah remember it's like the big dude. That jingle. Yeah. The big giant dude, like out in the woods, right? When there was a thing. Bounty.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Something like that. Yes. That was like an old campaign. Dating myself. Like, with streaming and everything else, you just don't see the classic ads like you used to. But I'm hoping I see some wings getting picked up by Ron Gretkowski. That's all I want to say.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I want to see like wing sauce all over Rob's face. I could see that. Don't you feel like Gronk's everywhere a little bit? Yeah, he's a wild man, but he's a good business guy, obviously, because he's. Yeah. When you think about like after football, who's been as active in marketing on shows
Starting point is 00:21:28 on nfl shit who's been more active than that guy yeah like he's if even if you're not watching football you probably know who he is and because he's a personality the dude is he's out there he's's partying. He's kind of bro, it seems. Yeah, he's clearly more intelligent than people probably want to give him credit for, like being a football jock. And when he does analysis and everything, he knows what he's talking about. And he's on every other commercial
Starting point is 00:21:59 that's like menswear, shoes. He's like a Kevin Hart to me. He's kind of like auto insurance, Capital One, whatever, like he's doing it. Yes, he is.
Starting point is 00:22:11 So props to him. Props to him. Props also to Vacay, the official sponsor of the Radcast. Take a vacay.com, V-A-Y-C-A-Y.com. I'm holding in my hand multiple jars of our sleep gummies. It's my favorite product.
Starting point is 00:22:30 I don't trouble with sleep very much, but it's the only thing I keep next to my bedside table, literally, because if I have any thought that I'm going to struggle with sleep that night, I'm popping a half one of these babies. We believe in premium third-party lab-tested products, and we do that with everything that we sell. And low doses on stuff. It's not about getting high. It's about taking care of the mood or the need that you have in the moment.
Starting point is 00:22:59 And that's one of my favorite and one of our favorite products. We're restocking our two-pack gummies because they're so popular. You can get a two pack and try it. We'll have that backup on the website soon. But look, let me tell you, you don't need to wait for that. You just need to go to take a vacay.com. V-A-Y-C-A-Y. Check out those sleep gummies.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Check out all of the products from vacay. Company that Chris and I own. Want to be discreet and not discreet undiscreet and transparent about that because we believe in the products and we want everyone to try them give them a shout out we would appreciate it official sponsor of the radcast my friend we do have some social holidays that I just didn't think could be missed today. They're important ones. Fill me in, please.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Yeah. Don't let me miss out on these. I don't want you to miss out at all. Sunday is World Logic Day. So logic. First, I was like, is this the rapper? But yeah, I think it's just more. I think it's more logic day.
Starting point is 00:24:03 So I don't want any illogical discussion or talk on Sunday in my life. And I won't, I'll be in Mexico. So there'll be a lot of illogical talk or maybe, Hey, actually it all makes sense. Then Chris, my kids trying to do stuff. The place we're going supposedly has the largest water park in Mexico. So I don't know if that means a good thing or a bad thing. I don't have a good scale of what water parks normally would be in Mexico. That could be really large or really small.
Starting point is 00:24:31 I don't know. But we'll see. There'll be no logic for the Offords, but for everyone else, World Logic Day on Sunday. Of course, Monday, which is part of the reason we're going, MLK, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. National holiday. Great time and a great man that did a lot of great things for the country.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Do want to miss that. That is 15th. All jokes put aside for that. The 16th is the last one. The 16th and 17th. The 16th is the International Hot and Spicy Food Day. It's a mouthful. Pun intended. But literally, I love spicy food.
Starting point is 00:25:08 So, yeah, maybe I'll have some on Tuesday in Mexico. It sounds like. I had some spicy Mexican last night. There you go. And then the 17th. I need to plan it for the 16th. Yeah, the 17th, which is next Wednesday, I believe. If my math is right.
Starting point is 00:25:24 I think my days are getting a little jangled, but maybe that's right. Thursday. I don't know. Anyway, I think it's Wednesday because today's the 10th. Today's the 10th when we're recording this show, just for full transparency. We do record a couple days ahead of time sometimes. But we release on the 12th. That's why you hear the date changes there.
Starting point is 00:25:42 A little insider tip. We like transparency here on the show.'m not trying to hide anything it's impossible for us to record it all on that morning and get it out to you at 5 a.m we do not get up at 1 a.m chris we can admit that with straight face but i wouldn't even be getting up i would just be staying up if we were doing that at that point exactly but january 17th ditch your resolution day. Who the hell decided? What nerd came up with this one? Could it not be like March 17th or something? We're going to throw those owl in on the 17th.
Starting point is 00:26:14 I stuck to it for two and a half weeks. I'm ditching it. Yeah. All right. Come on. You can work on it a little bit longer, right? All right. Come on.
Starting point is 00:26:24 Yeah. Don't celebrate that day. Don't celebrate that day. Don't celebrate that day. We don't want you to do that. I did want to mention this. So pretty big deal happening on the 29th. If you have Amazon Prime, everyone, 200 million Americans, I would say 99% of people listening probably have Amazon Prime.
Starting point is 00:26:43 You want that two-day free shipping. It used to be. It's not always two-day anymore if you pay attention but i'll save that uh soapbox for another day but they you get prime video on the 29th they're gonna start showing ads to everyone on prime video and it's gonna change the game for a lot of reasons because number one, you pay three dollars if you don't want to get the ads. But look, how many people are really going to pay the three dollars to not get the ads once it's already there? So one thing, if you had to make a change to or signing up for it, but they're just going to unlock it, people are just going to start dealing with it. to unlock it. People are just going to start dealing with it. And so I think it's going to change the game with streaming ads and things like that. Because look, the scale and scope that Amazon has and how many people watch, there's the football, other things that are on there.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Suddenly you're going to have an ad experience within Amazon Prime Video. You're going to see a ton of advertisers there. And it is a pretty decent opportunity because of the scale and scope how many freaking people are on the platform so that happens on the 29th of january chris so if you're an amazon prime person which most people are you watch the amazon video be ready for some ads because they're coming are you a amazon video person yeah i rotate between them but i use it for sure so i'm not pumped for this but i probably will be one of those to pay because i did that with hulu when they had ad or no ad but you made those big benjamins you can afford that three dollars a month never know but i agree with you i think how it's just being implemented yeah i'm not
Starting point is 00:28:29 going to immediately do it i'll be like all right let's see what it let's see what it's about exactly see if they how relevant those ads are if they're getting you all those that good lubrication that you like or if it's the the body butter and the full body man's deodorant. Yes. I love that. Let's see how good they're targeting. Yes. Oh,
Starting point is 00:28:56 that, that eyebrow removal kit, like all that stuff. Yeah, dude. All my favorite things, all your favorite things. It's like Oprah's Chris's favorite things. If favorite things it's like oprah's chris's favorite
Starting point is 00:29:06 things if they they serve you up the right ads it will be interesting how targeted they are if they're or if it's just like spray and pray like everything is it going to be like cable tv or is going to be more like instagram is what i'm coming on yeah as far as targeting yeah we'll see i think you're going to see a lot of pre-roll post-roll like on the videos that you click on you have to watch a video you're gonna watch an ad for it to click on like right now like when you watch they already have ads in the football game because it's broadcast like normal but you're gonna see like whenever you click on a video you're probably gonna get an ad might get a mid-roll That means like halfway through the video or whatever you're watching, programming, you get ads built in.
Starting point is 00:29:50 But I will say this could be an opportunity. I'm hoping they keep it affordable for small to medium-sized brands to run ads within it versus your traditional TV costs. So I'd pay attention to that and pay attention to the numbers. We'll talk about it here. We'll keep talking about it and see. We'll probably be trialing it for a few of the companies we work with here at the agency. Let you know how it goes. A couple things to finish out.
Starting point is 00:30:14 I don't know if you're a big electric car person. Honda announces a new line of electric cars, the Honda Zero Series. Honda's introduced two concept vehicles, part of the upcoming Zero Series at the CES show in Las Vegas. The Honda Zero Series will begin production in 26, featuring a new H logo as Honda's transition to electric vehicles. Wow, that's really progressive there. Going to the H logo for Honda. I wonder how they got there. The company, having invested $40 billion.
Starting point is 00:30:45 That's a B-billion, aims to introduce 30 new electric vehicles globally by 2030. Honda previously announced plans to exclusively sell zero-emission vehicles, unveiling the Zero Series reflects the automaker's commitment to advance. I brought this up because I thought, everything's moving electric, it seems like, for good, bad, or indifferent. I don't know how I feel about it
Starting point is 00:31:08 because I really enjoy my gasoline guzzling loud V8. Same. But I don't know. If I can be convinced that it's really killing the environment, do I want to kill it? No. But I'm not convinced that producing batteries
Starting point is 00:31:21 generates less issues than gas, though. I think that's the big debate. I see a lot of Teslas getting picked up off the side of the interstate. I know. Because they're running out of battery or whatever. It's just, I'm not there yet. They're cool. I just, not for me.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Yeah. Not yet. I think it's been oversold so far. I think everything's promoted there. So I don't know if the demand is quite there yet. But like everything else, we think it's coming
Starting point is 00:31:55 before it actually does. And it takes a lot longer for those types of transitions. And for us to get over our V8s, our loud loud motors i like revving mine up i like this sound of a nice engine yeah sure i know i think that's all we have today on our marketing and business news any final words chris i hope everyone is off to a great new year
Starting point is 00:32:26 and stick to your resolutions don't ditch them on January 17th don't ditch them at all but at least wait till March or April at least make it through the first quarter I know I can't believe we have a holiday
Starting point is 00:32:41 the American way we have social holidays for everything in Detroit. Maybe it's like ditch it for a day, which I still think is a little early. Yeah, like, bro, you don't need to break two and a half weeks and go to the gym. Come on. Yeah, exactly. Or whatever it is your resolution is. Yeah, no, I just hope everyone's off to a great New Year.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Staying warm and safe.
