I'm joined by my friend, my Kimisabe, Chris Hansen. Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Happy Friday. Vacay lounging or lodging? Vacay lounging. Either one. Either one. It looks prettynging or lodging? Vacay lounging. Either one. Either one. It looks pretty nice. Lodging and lounge. Nice.
Starting point is 00:00:50 What's Miami temperature today here on November 24th? Probably like breezy, high 70s, lower 80s. Lovely. Nice. Lovely. Lovely. It's a little brisk here in the Carolinas. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Have a little lighter edition here today. We've got some business topics. We're thankful for everyone that's listening, first and foremost. So thank you for tuning in to your number one business and marketing show on Apple Podcasts. And I hope everyone over eight or under eight whatever your goals were for Thanksgiving I hope they were achieved are you a turkey and dressing guy Chris
Starting point is 00:01:31 yeah I want the turkey the cranberries, stuffing yeah you're all in all the fixings mix them all together put them on a sandwich and I'm happy yeah the fixings remember that Mix them all together. Put them on a sandwich and I'm happy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:45 The fictions. Remember that scary movie? Where's that corn souffle? Oh, yeah. With the messed up hands. Yeah. Can they get away with that now? Definitely not. It would be canceled now.
Starting point is 00:02:06 That was one of the best scenes in that movie like stuffing the turkey or something are you stuffing oh you need to watch that it's fun you're on the holidays put it on it's good
Starting point is 00:02:21 yeah we went to Nicole's parents as we always do and i'm sure we had a good time in full disclosure we record this right before thanksgivings but we'll give away all our tickets we're all about transparency here we wouldn't have anybody jump on the ball on the holidays i don't want that post thanksThanksgiving tryptophan coma. Yeah, exactly. I'm real lazy. I end up having my mom's, my wife's mom's, and then my dad's.
Starting point is 00:02:53 We get it in. Three turkey dinners over five days. You guys are on the circuit. Yeah. Then I like to cook a big prime. I'm going to cook a prime rib like Saturday night. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah oh yeah against the grain yeah have a good day and all that turkey i need some steak steak and maybe a little honey baked ham oh we'll have already had that that's definitely on the the thanksgiving list at my wife's parents but it it's it's a lighter edition it's thanksgiving if
Starting point is 00:03:23 you're listening the day after maybe you're on the treadmill trying to work it off. Maybe you're driving to work on Monday after the holiday. You never know when you might be listening to this given the holiday. So we're not going to get too serious. But we did want to bring up, even if it's post-Thanksgiving, this comes to us from EF.com. Top 10 Thanksgiving traditions in the U.S. Some of these I could get down with, and some of them I was like, really one of the top ones?
Starting point is 00:03:54 But let's see where this falls for you, Chris. The first one on the list, and these are not in order of popularity necessarily, but this seems to be like some of the big things Airway does. Number one on the list is watching the macy's thanksgiving day parade are you a parade watcher always yeah every year parades on then the dog show i forget the name of it the really big dog show yeah oh yeah my brother-in-law's they're there in the picture it's pretty quickly going straight to the nfl games because those boys are exactly on espn bets i will watch a little bit of the parade yeah watch a little bit of the parade kids enjoy i'm like yeah there's a nutcracker oh here comes
Starting point is 00:04:41 the nuts that was a line from Christmas Vacation. They're talking about, they're watching the Macy's Day Parade. Talking in the background. Next on the list, break the wishbone for good luck. I know what this is. I've heard of it. I can't say I do this on Thanksgiving. Is that far?
Starting point is 00:04:59 Is that you? I've done it like once in my life and it wasn't on Thanksgiving. Yeah. I think. I think we did. I remember once my life and it wasn't on Thanksgiving. Yeah. I think. I think we did. I remember one time my dad was like, oh, look. Yeah, if you end up with a bigger piece, supposedly your wish, you can have a wish.
Starting point is 00:05:14 And if you end up with a bigger piece of the wishbone when it breaks, when you're pulling it against someone else, you get the wish. Yeah. I wish we never do this again. Eat a. I'll never pull from the wishbone again. Eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Okay. Duh. What Thanksgiving day would be complete without that? I don't care if you're single and at home, at least get out in one of the many places now.
Starting point is 00:05:40 You can go eat one of those things. You got to get your little meal. Oh, yeah. Every restaurant's got a Thanksgiving dinner menu, I feel like, for the most part now. And today's episode is not brought to you by this company, but I'm going to give them a free pub because this plays into it. Guess who's open on Thanksgiving Day? Dave and Buster's. Dave and Buster's. Okay, that shocked me. I was going to say Ruth Chris.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Yeah, no. Because I used to ballet there on Thanksgiving Day. Dave and Buster's. Okay, that shocked me. I was going to say Ruth Chris. Yeah, no. Because I used to ballet there on Thanksgiving Day. Dave and Buster's is open on Thanksgiving Day. Look, I am on legend status. The Offords venture there quite a bit. And Gold Cardinal. I'm surprised they haven't given you like a free cruise or something at this point. They owe me.
Starting point is 00:06:20 They owe me. You could have been on 10 cruises a year for the amount you go there. We could have taken the kids on seven trips. Bouncy balls, plenty of them in your house. You could have been on a five-day cruise with your four boys, I bet you. It's like ADD paradise for me. And then the kids love it, of course. They love it.
Starting point is 00:06:40 But yeah, I got their secret newsletter. And Dave & Buster's is open. So you're a little too late, but next year, if you know, that's a little insider tip. Dave & Buster's is open. You're a little too late, but next year if you know, that's a little insider tip. Dave and Buster's. Look, here's what happens. Sometimes you want to watch a football game, but you get bored because there's nothing to do, nowhere to go. It's a little insider tip. Go hit Dave and Buster's or watch those football games
Starting point is 00:06:57 at Dave and Buster's and game it up a little bit. Get you some skeeball in. Whatever you got to get in. get in from the in-laws. Exactly. Get out of the house, go shoot some hoops. Next on the list.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Take a nap. It's one of the top 10 Thanksgiving traditions in the U S taking a nap. I have to take that nap. Got to get out there and do something. So there's no Thanksgiving day. What's that? Do you guys do, I have to take that nap. Got to get out there and do something. Says no Thanksgiving day. I got a question. What's that? Do you guys do, do you guys earlier in the day or in the evening?
Starting point is 00:07:34 We eat at two o'clock. Oh man. See, I want that. We do it at night and I'm like, I can't even nap. I just want to go to bed. Oh no, no. You got to have it worse. Three or four latest. You can have mid afternoon, but then, but you get, you got to do that. I just want to go to bed. Oh, no. No. You got to have it worse three or four latest. You can have mid-afternoon, but then
Starting point is 00:07:47 you got to do that. I agree. One or two o'clock. That's the window right there. It says afternoon filled with cooking and eating delicious food. Many retreat to the couch for a midday nap. Turkey is well known for the culprit of this sudden onset of sleepiness
Starting point is 00:08:03 with its high levels of the amino acid tryptophan. Hey, we have tryptophan. Also found in the vacay sleep gummy. In the vacay sleep gummy. Purposeful plug there. Every day is a vacay. Go to take a vacay, V-A-Y-C-A-Y.com, if you want a real sleep gummy. That adds a lot more than just tryptophan.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Take one of those with the turkey, and you'll be, like, golden. You'll be, yeah, dude. Holiday snooze. Yes. Called Unwind. One of our highest-reviewed products. Go take a look at that.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Here's what's next on the top 10 list. Share what you're most thankful for. Thanksgiving is a perfect time to reflect on the year alongside family and friends. It's wonderful to hear everyone talk about their favorite moments and experiences from the previous year. I know this sounds like cliche, like what it's supposed to be. I can't help but think, but a lot of families families it's just them bitching about like stuff isn't it like politics and like the family get together did you see what happened with oh yeah I have a hard time conspiracy theories politics yeah I've heard them and Betty's really going
Starting point is 00:09:18 I'm just so thankful for all the things the president did for us this year or whatever. Yeah. I've, I usually experienced the initial thought, a lot of drama. Here's another one. Watch an American football game and get behind this one. This is true. Usually cause there's nothing else to do and it's on and look,
Starting point is 00:09:42 I'd watch it. But most people that don't even watch football are watching football on Thanksgiving. What is it, Detroit Lions? The Dallas Cowboys play every year. Football is the most popular sport to watch in the U.S. And Thanksgiving Day is no
Starting point is 00:09:57 exception. Next on the list, this, I don't, again, duplication here on this top ten list. We didn't make it we're just reading be grateful for friends giving uh okay because most people celebrate thanksgiving thankful yeah friends gathering together aptly called friends giving is a newer tradition it's time to share a meal and enjoy each other's company okay so. So that's one of the, it is turning into a tradition. I see a lot of girls doing it, especially.
Starting point is 00:10:28 They always post about it. They're always like, it's just another excuse to get drunk and talk shit about their husband. So let's be honest. Yeah. Yeah. It's another reason to party. Yeah. It should be drunk-skiving.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Yeah, it should be. Shopgiving. Yeah, it should be. Shop till you drop on Black Friday. That's a Thanksgiving tradition. So America, consumerism. Yes. Really? Shopping till you drop. When was the last time you went out on Black Friday to beat a sale?
Starting point is 00:11:03 Have you ever? Never. Yeah, me, I did once. did once the internet yeah like when i was camping outside drug me somewhere and i'm like i'm never doing this again and then i have not i didn't just even 10 years if i want to go get in a like do you want to get trampled in a fist fight because that's all i see happening on the internet on black friday sales yeah riots i could do that at a bar late night if i really want i don't need it uh to get a black friday shopping for that i don't even get a drink if i get a black friday you're just you're sober and fighting people man dude no thanks i'll sign up for two days shipping on prime and i tell you what if they put cocktails in the line like where you're waiting okay that'd be a good way to attract people be a huge party it'd be awesome and people would spend more money yeah it might be nice as long as you don't give them too many drinks they'd be nicer
Starting point is 00:11:56 to one another going to that like oh i'm sorry man you know two drink limit drink tickets yeah lastly giving back this is the final the top 10 in the spirit of giving thanks and helping others many communities across the u.s hold food drives and collect non-perishables so that everyone has a place to enjoy a warm meal that's i think that they're doing this I was just thinking there was more going to be like more I don't know certain menu items right Aunt Karen talking about something she shouldn't uncomfortable family
Starting point is 00:12:36 conversations that should be on this list right yeah let's be honest seriously yeah your one crazy uncle blacking out causing a scene yeah there's your top 10 thanksgiving traditions in the u.s hopefully you're nodding along to some of them nodding along by saying yes or nodding along by falling asleep but because it's the next day after thanksgiving potentially when you're listening to this. Or nodding along because you're having a little naughty toddy.
Starting point is 00:13:06 There's a lot of... This article is from BlackFriday.com. It says Black Friday is a major shopping day in the U.S. occurring. A lot of people are shopping right now. This is aired while we're talking right now. You might be
Starting point is 00:13:23 listening in the car, racing from store to store. You might be in Macy's with your AirPods and listening to this right now. That's right. You should be. Black Friday is a major shopping day in the U.S. occurring on the Friday after Thanksgiving, with many people having the day off, except those in retail. It marks the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season, known for discounts and deals that started earlier and retail. It marks the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. Known for discounts and
Starting point is 00:13:46 deals that started earlier and earlier. The term Black Friday originated in Philadelphia in the 60s due to congested street lines. During post-Thanksgiving shopping, Black refers to stores moving from loss
Starting point is 00:14:01 red to profit black in accounting records. it became popular as retailers realized they could draw crowds with discounts who knew online black friday sales are also significant and mobile shopping is on the rise you think top products during the black friday include toys electronics books jewelry, and sporting goods. I think we covered a lot of that. Everything's popular. It's on sale.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Get your best feel. There's your history. I feel like everyone selling anything is running Black Friday. That's interesting. I had no idea that was the... And it seems to be... It starts earlier every year. We're starting to, like to like water down a little bit
Starting point is 00:14:46 as far as i think the moment we got cyber monday now right yeah i've been getting sale messages from for the last two weeks from businesses yes 40 off i mentioned this last week i got a deal on tv i'm like it's not gonna go any lower. And sure enough, I've looked at some of the deals and this hadn't gone any lower than that. So it's okay. That's fine. As long as I get the sale this month, spreading it out. Let's be honest. With all these channels, you don't want all those orders on the same day.
Starting point is 00:15:20 How to fulfill that shit is impossible. So spread it out. Give yourself the ability to actually deliver on the experience. Yeah. So I think it helps with that. And if you want to learn from me directly, join my newsletter, RyanOffer.com backslash newsletter.

Starting point is 00:15:44 It's daily. Just like this show, give away our best advice. Google has put out a gift guide for everyone on your list. There's a lot of stuff on here. Are you still at the point, Chris? I know you've done pretty well and you're well out of the household and all that. But with your parents or your mom, do you have to send her a list? Do you send your parents a list of things you want?
Starting point is 00:16:09 No, and I will say every one of my sisters and my parents, everyone will reach out and ask, are you looking for anything? But no, I don't send a list. And even when people ask me, I'm like, I don't know, nothing. Give me some gym shorts i'm 46 years old and to this day my mom and my mother-in-law actually nicole's mom and my mom have some similar traits a lot of different traits but some someone was do they both send me we need your list and i'm like yeah and look in my wife, like, no one can really buy me anything because I buy whatever I want. Like, the moment I see it, don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I'm not buying million-dollar items every day or something. Or, oh, every single watch that's 50 grand, I don't buy it. It's not that excessive. But if I need a pair of jeans, I buy them. If it's an accessory or something, okay, and I need it, okay, I'm buying it. And I don't know. And it's not because I don't appreciate gifts, but I'm like, really, don't give me anything. That's why I have them give me stuff that's like boring, like socks, like stuff that I'm like, I can buy it.
Starting point is 00:17:20 But you can just go ahead and knock that one out. I've gotten to where when you're a kid this when you're getting old it's come full circle like i'd rather them give me things like a food like my favorite food i like something that i can't make or go buy i wouldn't think to do myself something like an experience yeah an experience or like my favorite food or like a snack or something yeah that or that it becomes real practical. Buy me some socks. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:47 That seems to fall. Oh, this is the one that I forget until it's like, okay, it's time for some socks. Like, okay. You know what I asked for actually last year,
Starting point is 00:17:56 it was a mic and a boom. Cause you sent me which one to get. Yeah. And that was, and I remember that I literally sent my mom the link on Amazon. Like, you can give me this. That'll do. Did she?
Starting point is 00:18:12 Yeah. That's the great thing about Amazon now. You just send the link. Done. Everybody's got the Amazon account. Easy. When you can make a list on Amazon and send the whole list to somebody if you wanted to, I think. Yeah. Like, Your own holiday list.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Nash has a seven-page list. Like my son, Nash. Damn, boy. How old is he? Eight? Individualized. Very specific. Props.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Yeah. The boy knows what he wants. I respect a man who can make a decision he he's got that thing daddy check that list why you don't need to check page one x page two will be what i'll have clothing line yes he's got it all detailed he's got every link where to buy yeah he's got diagrams drawn up go to page, and you'll see that I want the Pokemon. Is it an expensive list, or is it a lot of little items? It's carefully collated, curated around not being too overboard.
Starting point is 00:19:20 It's not all $1,000 items or something like that. It's very specific Pokemon things that he wants. Strategic. Yeah. A book, this book, this piece of Legos, all this kind of stuff. And get some gaming stuff. They want some Oculus things. They've been playing that shit.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Oculus. I was like that as a kid. It was way easier to be like, oh, I want this N64 game or this specific toy. So Clemson and South Carolina, if you live in our neck of the woods, play this football. That's the rivalry in this area. And they are playing this weekend, tomorrow. If you're listening on Friday, if you're not, we've already passed it. and they are playing this weekend, tomorrow. If you're listening on Friday, if you're not, we're past it. The former President Trump is going to be at the Clemson-South Carolina game.
Starting point is 00:20:14 I thought that was interesting. I'm not sure what drew him there other than Henry McMaster, who's a Republican governor. That'll go viral. Yeah. He's going to be there. You're going to see a lot of videos of that stadium going I'm going to have to send him like some orange or something he needs to be wearing some orange
Starting point is 00:20:29 didn't he make an appearance he made an appearance in another NCAA game I think last year I remember it went viral because people were going nuts and I don't know why I think it was Clemson again I think it was an Alabama game I think you're right yeah
Starting point is 00:20:44 it was Bama and Aub I think you're right. It was Bama and Auburn. He'll be there. As long as he's pulling for Clemson, I'm cool. I don't know if I have to feel like he needs to pull for South Carolina because it's like the state. Boo. Whatever. So I thought that was interesting.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Into some marketing news. This was fun. Snoop Dogg is quitting smoking. It was actually all a campaign for Solo Stove. Quitting the smoke. No more smoke. Solo Stove has appointed Snoop Dogg as its official smokes man. I see what you did there.
Starting point is 00:21:26 I like that. After his social media tease about giving up smoking turned out to be a partnership announcement, he'll work with Solo Stove on product innovation and a signature product line. The collaboration marks Solo Stove's first major national marketing campaign and includes various advertising elements so i was looking at this sawyer our producer was showing me this stove like it doesn't put smoke no smoke with the fire it's like a little fire pit close i didn't know that's cool i didn't know you could do that yeah i wonder if they're using like chemicals or something like to suck it in or if
Starting point is 00:22:02 it's just the is it a portable stove or you put this like in your yard i think it's like they have both options don't they i think you're moving around sorry you can jump on there and tell us that's portable portable like a camping portable yeah camping why do i throw it around your backyard why Why do I care? I'm camping and there's smoke coming out. Hey, you don't want to look. How about you? Have you ever been to you? Haven't been.
Starting point is 00:22:30 You haven't dealt with the smoky like you're hanging out at the campfire. That shit won't leave you alone. Oh, yeah. I've dealt with that. It's miserable. It's miserable around smokeless Snoop Dogg. I'm just going to tell you, this is one of the smarter brighter campaigns that i've seen in a while because dude i probably had five other people that's me did you see snoop dog's not
Starting point is 00:22:52 smoking i'm like that's cool all good things come to an end or whatever however you want to look at it or all bad things whichever way you want to look at that and then it's all a ploy get everybody talking and now i get the punchline oh it's sort of a lot of conversations but this is a cannabis it's always about value here chris value actual insights you know instead of just hiring here's what they could have done it would have been way less interesting and impactful. He could have come out and done all this in one fell swoop that the whole gag was done within one post or whatever. Oh, I'm smoking one, but then he's tied to the partnership. But giving it like a week to play out before giving it away, that's creative.
Starting point is 00:23:44 That's how you create movement in the market. And it's just a little more thoughtful way for you as a spokesperson and influencer to rile up conversation. So there you go. When you're thinking about campaigns, you're thinking about these things. Go left when everybody goes right. so there you go. When you're thinking about campaigns, you're thinking about these things go left.
Starting point is 00:24:07 When everybody goes right. This one was very good. This was extremely viral. Yes. I feel like I've talked to one person every day has brought this in real life. Like, Oh my gosh. I don't know if I buy it.
Starting point is 00:24:24 How many people probably posted, posted man that's so great he's giving up smoke he's mature like all these people probably saying that a lot and then now and then there was a huge conversation about what does he know that we don't what are they putting in this is it the fertilizers like it went down that hole then of course you had yeah then you had another group like oh it's because he's launched an edibles line people were definitely there was phenomenal
Starting point is 00:24:53 because it threw people in so many different directions but it was just being talked about so much exactly so really smart campaign from solo and look I'll be honest I didn't So really smart campaign From Solo And look I'll be honest I didn't know this product
Starting point is 00:25:09 So now it's hit my radar And Sager's influenced me And a little bit showing me the video So well played Solo I'd like to know That might be on the Christmas list That would be something I would not probably buy myself But I'd put it on the Christmas list for like
Starting point is 00:25:25 or my mom or something. This is cool. The houseboat? Hey, could be. I don't know. That shit might burn down the houseboat. But it's smokeless. Is it heatless too? I don't understand how you
Starting point is 00:25:43 just get rid of smoke. I don't know. But you know what smoke is bad for? Not just your lungs. It's bad for your skin. And you know how you take care of skin that might be getting a little too much smoke and different things? You know how, Chris. Tell me how.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Our good friends at Caldera Lab. Calderalab.com. The official skin care provider of Ryan Alford and the Radcast. I am glowing a little bit today, Chris. At least it looks like it in my eyes. I did put on my combination. I've got secret formulas. It used to be as prescribed from the bottle.
Starting point is 00:26:21 I've now got the secret formulas depending on the occasion. So I'm mixing in the serum, the eye serum, Icon, just a couple dashes of that. Then the face lotion that's a little light pat. And then the good is supposed to be for night. But let me tell you,
Starting point is 00:26:38 I do a couple drops, not the full Monty, like a partial dose of that serum. It gives it a little bit of a light sheen, but not too oily. So I've got like recipes for the Caldera Lab stuff now, depending on

Starting point is 00:28:03 Shaquille O'Neal for a new commercial as a part of its 125th anniversary marketing campaign inspired by the 94 collaboration and features a remix of Ski Low's 95 hit of the same name, I Wish.
Starting point is 00:28:17 The commercial humorously depicts the challenges O'Neal faces due to his towering height of over 7 feet. The campaign promotes Pepsi mini cans and harts back to the 1994 ad for the now-retired Pepsi Big Slam product. So a little reminiscing. Did you remember that campaign, or was that even before your time? I was alive, but it barely.
