Hey guys, Ryan Alford here. I love talking about some of my favorite podcasts, and this is another one that's on our network, the Radcast Network.
You know if it's on the network, it's good. Well, let me tell you, you know who's good? It's Rudy Ricksteins, the Empowered Life Podcast.
I'm telling you, it's not about looking outward. It's about looking inward. You got to know yourself. You got to know and want the best for yourself.
And no one is more loving, caring, and insightful in teaching you these lessons. Rudy Rickstein's
a good friend and one of our favorites on the Radcast Network. Just amazing guests. And him
and his wife will come on and tell these stories. Number one, you want to hug someone after it
because Rudy is so loving and caring.
And he's also counseling some of the largest companies in the world on these principles to help them get the most out of their business.
But ultimately, this is about self-improvement.
If you want to improve yourself, listen to The Empowered Life with Rudy Ricksteins on the Radcast Network.
This is Right About Now with Ryan Alford, a Radcast Network
production. We are the number one business show on the planet with over 1 million downloads a month.
Taking the BS out of business for over six years and over 400 episodes.
You ready to start snapping necks and cashing checks? Well, it starts right about now.
Hello, guys, and what's up?
Hope everyone is doing well, wherever, whenever, however you are.
Welcome to Right About Now.
I'm Ryan Offord, your host, joined, as always, by my good friend, my business partner,
and just one hell of a good dude, Chris Hansen.
What's up, Chris?
What's up, Brian? How are you today, brother?
Oh, living the dream, you know, talking the news.
I mean, you know.
Everything you dreamed of.
I have to pinch myself sometimes.
That's what I dreamed of.
You know?
I got my starlight background, you know, whatever that is,
the ethereal, you know, design that Sawyer came up with.
It just makes me feel good and warm and fuzzy.
You have to stop and pause sometimes in life.
Like, hey, this is pretty fucking cool.
And I appreciate everyone that listens, that lets us do this and listens and buys our sponsor stuff
and pretends to like me on social media,
whatever it might be. I don't take it for granted, all things. So, you know, sometimes you got to
reflect on that, Chris. We get too busy. We don't appreciate what we have in the search for what we
want, right? Got to have the attitude of gratitude, baby. Yes. Yes.
Chris Hansen has always got the attitude of gratitude, right?
I try, man.
If I don't, I try to get back into it.
It makes things a lot better.
I know.
We're going to have to start like giving you like the energy shots because Miami's been in this perpetual rain zone, right?
I don't.
Yeah, it is.
And I think because we happen to record during those afternoon showers.
But it's been pretty rainy a lot more than the afternoon.
It's been weird.
Weird overcast, dreary, not normal Miami weather.
Yeah, I'm not used to the fade in the background.
It's usually like the sun is piercing everyone's eyes.
I know.
But, no, it's all good.
Anyway, we hope you're watching the episode.
We go to a lot of effort here.
You know, like Chris has got his studio set up in the vacay lounge.
You've got the palm tree or the green tree in the background.
I call it a palm tree.
It's clearly not a palm tree.
But it's a green tree.
The bamboo plant.
And Sawyer and Drew have us taking care of multi-cameras.
So if you're not watching this on YouTube, you need to.
That's where you get the full video experience, multi-camera, multi-views,
and you never know what's up our sleeve behind the scenes.
So give that a shot out on the youtube channel just
search for right about now and it will bring it up you'll see it see chris's pretty face you'll
see me doing some antics who knows but uh we've got all our shorts going on over there and uh
we appreciate it it's uh the channel's been growing a lot and hey if you're listening you
gotta watch too you get home throw it on while you're listening, you got to watch, too.
You get home, throw it on while you're at the gym or, like, on the TV while you're, I don't know, doing the treadmill at home, whatever it might be.
It's good.
You don't have to watch every second because you can listen.
And then if you catch some of the views, you know, like, I don't know, Drew might do some kind of, like, 360 camera view.
Who knows?
We don't even know what's up our sleeve here.
But we appreciate you for listening and continuing to make us number one.
We did hit number three in business again last week again. So keep downloading and keep telling your friends to go over to Spotify to give us some love.
We don't want to be number 20 over there and number three over on Apple.
We want to pit these guys against each other.
We don't care ultimately where you listen.
But, hey, give us some love on Spotify.
We won't hate you for it.
Chris, interesting week in the news.
It's clearly the summertime.
There's stuff going on, but it's fairly slow.
So, and just like real production, I'm not going to edit that out.
If you hear dings, I got kids at home, you know, like this is real time, real.
We're keeping it real.
Taking the BS out of business.
That means your wife's texting you in the middle of your record session.
Your kids are home.
I appreciate you being relatable to the audience.
So they know you're just like everybody else.
Yes.
You know, five years ago, I probably thought go like, oh, we got to get that.
We got to get that out.
Now I'm like, yeah, it is.
I'm just glad it was you, not me.
I'm like, I swear.
I was like looking at my phone.
Of course, my laptop gets me.
Yeah, of course.
Anyway, it's slow in the news a bit.
It's not a bad thing.
Everybody needs to kind of take a break, be on vacations.
But there's some good things. And and look there's nostalgia happening for me it wasn't even in the
show notes but we were talking pre just right before we came on air college football ea sports
2025 if you've ever played that game and we did and i think we skew male so probably more of a
guy's thing not to, not to relegate.
I don't know how many women are playing EA Sports college football.
Maybe more than I think.
I'm sure I'll get DM'd about it.
I'm curious to know.
But we do skew male.
And I know there's a lot of guys my age, Chris' age,
that the nostalgia of playing college football growing up like I did,
talking shit to your friends,
playing, you know, stacking your, like,
I'd have to stack Clemson's team back in the day.
Because, you know, Clemson wasn't that great,
you know, 2009, 10, 11, you know.
That was right when we were starting to get in our glory days.
And, of course, the football game goes off.
They stopped making the football game
right when Clemson becomes, like, a national champion.
Oh, stop.
They stopped making the football game right when Clemson becomes like a national champion.
But the new release of the game comes out July 19th.
I can't tell you, Chris, like my kids play video games.
I'll get on there and play Madden or something with them sometimes. But I can't remember the last video game launch date I actually knew or was keeping up with.
Me neither.
What's the last Xbox, PlayStation, whatever.
What's the last game you played?
Call of Duty.
Oh.
2017.
I remember because I went and bought an Xbox, bought a few games.
Because I was like, let me try to get into this.
Maybe this is like a new hobby.
Yeah.
It's going to be a big seller let me just tell
you this oh i this is something i would almost borderline go go pick up because i used to play
this definitely when i was a kid yeah love it looks good florida state florida it's got all
the real names the name image and likeness thing so like what's this got to do with business number
one big business is video games and esports if you don't think it is, then you ain't paying attention. So it's like,
it's like an industry and a economy to itself, the e-sports and gaming overall. So get your head
out of the sand. If you don't think there's a big business happening there. There's real money in it. Yeah. And number two, I'll say this.
It's sort of like one of those things that transcends, I think,
because how popular it is with the sports and now with name, image,
and likeness with college players being able to make money and get paid.
And really any player, too, because high schoolers, too.
I mean, you can essentially get
paid no matter what not to worry about like you know your scholarships getting screwed up
so all these guys are getting paid so that's what that was that was why it went away because i
couldn't figure out how to pay the athletes that ultimately legally their the rights because they
were just essentially when you think of duffel bagging it back in those days still.
Yeah, probably.
All right, we're going to get.
Johnny Manziel style.
Manziel probably got a million bucks behind the scenes to be on the cover.
Oh, man.
But they've got all those hurdles out.
Supposedly every player, so get this, gets a free copy of the game and a $600 payout.
Anyone who's ever played.
No, that's in the game this year.
So like I'll use my team.
I graduated from Clemson go Tigers.
So I'll use Clemson for example.
So, you know, the second stream office of Lyman, you know, his name and number, it will be on the game.
He's getting 600 bucks in a free copy of the game.
No matter if your name, because they're going to have names on the back of the jerseys,
if your team does that, because, again, they're following the standards of the team.
Most of them do.
So names, numbers.
And they said the likenesses will probably be a next year thing because they're similar,
but they admitted that the second stream offensive lineman
may not look exactly like him.
They're not going to
make the old... They're not investing as much
in the guys that aren't getting off the bench.
They're all getting paid $600.
It had this
asterisk.
Individual deals for the people on the
cover and a couple of the other ones.
Let's be honest,
the quarterbacks and the Heisman hopefuls that are on the cover,
probably getting, you know, much, a lot more than $600,
but everyone that's actually named in the game gets 600 bucks.
That adds up a lot. Cause there's like, it's, it's like,
I wanted to say it's 38,000 people. So what's the rough math?
Somebody do that.
40 times 600.
2.5 mil.
I think it's more than that.
25 mil?
We got the team.
Yeah, it's going to be in the 20 mils.
25 mil, something like that.
600 times 40,000.
Yeah, it'd be like 24 million.
So, look, this game's going to make a billion bucks.
Like, all the add-ons, all the stuff.
Like, they say the biggest titles end up bringing in, like, a billion.
Like, Call of Duty's made, because they've had multiple versions of it.
But, like, billions in revenue.
This game will probably be a billion dollars in revenue.
So like it's a lot of money, but they're making a lot of money.
Don't, you know.
I'd be telling my agent, dude, I want residuals,
not a one-time $600 fee.
I know.
I actually thought it was a little low,
like $600 maybe for the second stream off of the linemen,
but I thought it'd be a little more than that.
Like, okay.
Water boy.
Is he getting $200 a day?
Cheerleaders.
You know, hey, it'll happen.
Maybe, you know.
Coaches.
It's cool.
It's cool to see it's like the first innovators in this.
Yes.
And I'm going to be playing.
We're going to get some college football going on here live.
I don't know if that will be a good experience.
Yeah, Twitch experience.
I don't know how much of a show that would make.
But, you know, I talk shit while I'm playing,
so I could make the commentary pretty good.
I'll tell you what play I'm running.
I got halfback running left, right down.
Hey, we know your right tackle's weak.
We know, we know, or your defensive end. We know he's, you know, he's weak. Coming for you.
Run this option right down your throat with 84 Nebraska. I get those old teams, baby. Yes.
So college sports, EA sports, it's a big business. All the skins, all the games. And so,
hey, all right, here we're at. Chris, what are we about on this show? What we like to give?
We like to take the bullshit out of business. Yes. But what do we give people? What do they
take? They get actionable advice. Yes. In real life tips. Here it is. Here it is. So,
life tips here it is here it is so you know this is an iconic launch you know the date of it if you're a business in that caters to this audience which is a very broad and highly
male skewing audience probably i don't know 18 to it might be even younger to that but probably
18 to 45 male. Yeah.
Because a lot, I mean, like my age, like nostalgia stuff,
people are getting this.
Look, if you've got a bar, restaurant, like it's easy if you've got those things. Like have some gaming parties, have some release parties.
Like do some stuff that it's called borrowed interest.
This is going to be a big deal, a big release.
And you share in that interest by
leveraging the interest on that to get the shine and the halo on what you're doing.
So what might that be? You got to connect the dots there. I can't figure it out for you. That's
what you hire us for. It's called radical.company. Go visit the website, fill out the form.
But I'm just saying it's a it's a moment in time, like,
and it's going to be a big deal.
So how do you,
you know,
share in on that,
throw things or do things,
especially if you're retail business,
like you sold a lot of men.
Yeah.
Like you're in a college town,
do a giveaway,
get giveaway.
Like how do you pull it?
It's a hundred dollar game,
$70,
which is not cheap, but at the same time, have giveaways.
Like, if you're a bar, give away 100 copies.
That'd be a big bar, but 50 copies, 10 copies.
That'd drop, how much food could you sell on a night
if you gave away 20 copies of this game and then had it played?
Yeah, I'm telling you, like, that's what you need to be doing.
These are like these little moments.
It's like this isn't like a big, like, national moment, like, for everybody.
But for this subsegment of people that are very loyal to the game, that want to get their hands on it, how do you tie into that?
That's what marketing's about.
That's what, like, borrowed interest.
Hey, leverage the halo effect from this.
Bring in, hey, Havoc, it's July.
They're not back in school yet.
If you were ever going to do an NIL deal with one of these athletes,
you do it when this game releases.
You have them at your business.
If you're a car dealer, you have Cade Klubnick, the star of Clemson's office, the quarterback,
you know, whoever it is, you have them that day. Because again, there's a lot of other media that
other people paid for that's creating awareness. And then you tap into that and you share that stage.
You're sharing the stage.
It's kind of newsjacking a little bit, but it's like,
how do you connect these dots if you're a small business in any way?
Hell, if you do taxes, whatever it is, give away 10 copies.
Have it on your social media.
Well, what's that got to do with being a lawyer?
Nothing, but it makes you look fucking human and authentic. Yeah. Give away 10 copies. Have it on your social media. Well, what's that got to do with being a lawyer? Nothing.
But it makes you look fucking human and authentic.
Yeah.
You know?
There's a segment of dudes that are going to be like, yo, I'm calling that guy.
Yeah.
If I got in my feed a lawyer who I thought was a stuck-up prick, but suddenly holding up, maybe it was just something he made, a cardboard copy.
10, you know, you've got a law
problem or you think you might a business law problem you've been putting it off free copy
and ncaa for a free consult and a free copy yeah it doesn't have to be complicated folks cool i'm
i would probably take that call and you know what i'd go in there going i'm just want that copy
but then maybe he's smart and says something i'm like damn man you need to hire him just saying folks
ncaa college football 25 ea sports i want my check and it ain't 600 those things need to be
sitting right here this is the audience that that thing needs to be sitting on ea sports it's in the game right now
there you go damn i haven't heard that in a long time yeah saw your saw you reminded me of that one
oh yes i mean i i brought him up so why not get there you know what else is in the game
who's always in the game chris who is always in the game, Chris? Who is always in the game? Branded Bills. Brandedbills.com, the official merchandise
sponsor of Right About Now. Look, I'm going to come around there. Hopefully not take my mic out.
My mic, you never know. I'm away from the mic so you can't hear me, but look, dude.
This is what you need. Audio is terrible but that's okay sorry i make it sound good
i'm telling you folks i'm even gonna mess up i had to hear the dude going today
i'm gonna mess it up put this on the two shows chris and i do vibe science right about now
this is where it's at custom gear delivered right to your door go to vibe excuse me brandonbills.com
let me go sit down and do this part of the audio.
We're not live.
Dude, go to brandofbills.com.
Go in that top right corner.
Custom.
You go fill out the form.
Chris, I got to tell you,
the most surprising part of the experience,
because look, I own an ad agency. I've got a badass designer all around me, creatives. And
look, I don't want to bog them down with creating variations of logos for merchandise. I send them
our base logo and they do all kinds of designs for you
and you know
before the brand police come calling
they play around with some things
but it's awesome because they give you a couple different looks
using patches, colors
so it's not only
the custom hats
that you end up getting
it's the custom designs that they'll do
leather patches
all kinds of things that really make it stand out, make it feel premium.
We've already talked about the business.
No cold.
I do no cold calling dot com.
That's what Brandon Bills needs to start because you're sitting custom merch is the warm call.
You want it for your golf tournament.
You want it for that church social coming up.
Whatever it is, you want custom gear with your logo, your event name, merch, T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts.
And, of course, it is Brady Bills, the best hats in the business.
We love them. we appreciate them chris you know i'm always singing their praises and i get all i get in the pulpit like a good pastor because i'm
passionate about them not only because they're a sponsor but because if you pay attention to any
of my social media i have one of their hats on 90% of the time.
I know you love them too.
Yeah, you do.
And I'm guilty today.
I'm not wearing a brand of Bills.
But every other day, I usually wear a brand of Bills.
People know we use them for vacay.
The other company, they're definitely the highest quality hats I have. I mean, I wear them five out of seven days.
Comfortable, look good, easy to clean,
sweat resistant, great for the gym. Exactly. I love them. They're great. And I wouldn't use
anyone. I look, I mean, I had to get it, you know, sometimes I have to not wear a hat just
so all of my videos don't look the same. Hey, I actually still have my hair. So I had to show it sometimes, you know.
But all seriousness, Brandon Bills, great partner.
And you'll thank us.
Go get their custom hats.
They're amazing.
And before you know it, it'll be wintertime.
Super easy to work with.
That's the key.
It's turnkey.
It's easy.
It's turnkey.
They're responsive.
Sam Coyle, one of the owners, founders,
amazing people.
They're as good a people as they are quality.
So,
uh,
look before you know it,
I mean,
it's burning up here.
It's 90 something degrees in South Carolina,
but you get the custom hoodies coming in for that fall weather,
that fall outing you got with,
you know,
two or 300 people coming for some event you got for your, I don't know, sports leagues.
I'm telling you, you'll be the star of the show.
Brandon Bills, BrandonBills.com, official Berkshire Nights sponsor of Right About Now and Ryan Offord.
Oh, Chris, a couple of good articles today.
What do we got?
So, first one, it's not a surprise.
We say it sometimes and, you know, I don't necessarily mean it.
It's kind of a dumb thing to say.
I'll say TV is dead.
Nobody watches TV.
And when we say, would us stupid advertising people say stuff like that?
What we're saying is linear television. And when we say, would us stupid advertising people say stuff like that?
What we're saying is linear television.
Like, okay.
Cable.
Yeah, cable TV.
Or even local TV that you watch at the exact time of something.
Yeah. And that's when we say, like, that's dead or declining is probably the better way to say it.
But that's what they mean.
This is an article from our good friends at NBCNews.com.
They love us. We love them.
YouTube is dominating the living room, forcing media companies to decide whether it's friend or foe.
Newsflash, they ain't a friend.
Yo, they already took you down, guys.
Yeah.
The game's over.
Okay.
I like the game.
I get to role play and scenario play a little bit here.
Look, we take the bullshit out of business.
And, like, I tell you, like, look, I got a focus group of four at home.
It's four young boys that love media.
They're like their daddy.
They love media.
And you know what?
When I get home from work, do you know what's on my TV,
my big 86-inch television in the living room?
The TV's playing, but you know what it ain't?
Linear TV.
And we got it.
We still have the cable.
We have YouTube TV, ironically.
That's why YouTube's got them so surrounded, man.
No, what they're playing, Chris, is YouTube streaming.
Mr. Beast or some other trick or fails.
Like, it's all YouTube for all the time.
If they're watching something that's not like a movie,
which might actually be ordered from YouTube TV,
it's YouTube.
And they're streaming it on their phones and now on the TV.
And guess what?
My 15-year-old is going to be ruling the world in 30 years.
So I say that to say, and I say mainly,
and I'm putting that pressure on him,
more his generation will be ruling the world,
that they're growing up doing these things.
When you grow up doing it, you do it as an adult.
We're creating habits.
And you know what their habit isn't, Chris?
It's going and hitting the power on the cable box.
Yeah, it ain't coming in at 530 and turn on the local news to get the weather.
They're not waiting for it.
They're not waiting for it.
They watch what they want, when they want.
Period.
Like, it's on demand.
That genie ain't going back in the bottle.
I haven't had cable in like seven years.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No. Other than live live sports it's accidental
for me and i would say that live sports is the only thing keeping people it's only keeping cable
alive yeah period so this article from mc news says it's been almost 20 years since the founding of Alphabet's YouTube, and Hollywood still doesn't really know what to do with it.
YouTube, which effectively invented user-generated content, claims a daunting share of overall media consumption, and it's no longer just dominating the Internet, it's dominating the living room, too.
No shit.
YouTube, made up of 9.7% of all viewership
on connected and traditional TVs in the U.S. in May,
it had 9.7%.
It's the largest share of TV for a streaming platform
ever reported by Nielsen's monthly The Gauge report.
Netflix ranked second with 7.6%.
Among streamers only,
YouTube's total viewership was close to 25% market share.
This is when we'd start playing Taps.
Linear TV.
Sayonara, sister.
The game's over.
So my point in this is to say,
you need to go watch Right About Now on YouTube.
No, that's why we're going hard on youtube baby like we know it
it's true it's true i gotta at least be where my kids are on my tv right now it's what i gotta at
least be where my kids are they might trip across me on an ad or something you know they may be your
best teachers right now i've had to say no they are i watch what they do yeah
believe me yeah i mean i've noticed i i've youtube on right now it's just like a calming beach music
scene you know it's like become the screensavers but then i look at even my parents boomers they've
canceled cable they're all youtube tv now yes and I think that's more of a cost thing than content,
probably at that age group.
Cause it's not like my dad is watching Mr. Beast, right?
But, and maybe too,
cause YouTube knows what will keep you in the algorithm.
They got you in there.
Ticked one commercial and I'm like,
I'm telling you right now,
it's not even, and I i like youtube i don't even mean
this like bad but like tiktok gets all the fucking blame like the algorithm and all that stuff and
there's look there's a lot of like rabbit hole surfing going on on tiktok don't get wrong i know
swipe city baby but youtube is flying under the the largest fucking radar ever created
because they are the beast of the East and the West and everywhere else.
And they don't get any of the flack.
And I'm not saying they necessarily should.
I'm just saying if you're the scale.
No one's talking about doom scrolling on YouTube.
It's all TikTok.
Exactly.
Which brings up a good point.
Why?
And we know.
I think it's because YouTube has a legacy of that user-generated content that's higher value, higher quality.
Now, I'm not saying because everybody's polished, but it's just, it has the legacy.
And I know TikTok has it too.
You've got the TikTokiktip talk tips and
all that shit but the legacy of you you google things you youtubed them and look what do you
think comes up first when you go how to pollinate a tomato with this guy right here searched for
that two nights ago because i got this one potato plant that isn't growing tomatoes.
All of us are.
I looked up and it said because we don't have bees back there pollinating the tomatoes.
And I took a Q-tip and I felt like, you know, I was like an in vitro clinic.
You know, I was like.
Dr. Greensome over here.
I was, you know, getting it on with those tomato plants.
Pollinating, you know, the male and female flowers.
It's fascinating.
But that was YouTube.
How to YouTube.
Because I did how to pollinate a tomato plant.
And if you're looking on Google, which we all are,
because we all have iPhones, or 75% of us,
and you go to Google,
or you use Chrome, what videos do you think show up first? YouTube, baby. Alphabet. All you can
eat. Alphabet soup. And you might have Rumble. Yeah. And you'll have Rumble, then you'll have
Vimeo. And you don't want to click those, right? You're like, ew. Yeah, no. You're clicking the YouTube video.
It's comfortable.
And so they have a legacy of credibility built there.
That's not because they're perfect.
There's a lot of trash on there too.
But for whatever reason, their algorithm is a lot better
because I don't get that trashy shit in my feed the way I do on TikTok.
That's why I somewhat agree with them. YouTube has been feeding me some trashy stuff lately, feed the way I do on TikTok. That's where I somewhat agree with the –
YouTube has been feeding me some trashy stuff lately,
and it's honestly annoying.
It might be because of the story or if you do a lot of shorts.
That's what it has been.
The shorts are completely different content.
The shorts are probably skewed that way.
And I can see maybe shorts is more where the algorithm is pushing more
because people are paying or whatever it is.
Maybe that's more the business side, how they're monetizing yes and so for a business
so you're right okay what does this all mean needs to be if you if you're a business you need to be
on youtube with content and that's nothing new i mean this has been the advice for a long time
biggest thing is run some ads there too. Your target's there.
Everybody's there.
Kids are there.
The parents are there.
And you got the bumper pre-rolls where they got to watch the first five seconds without skipping.
You get your brand up three times real fast right there at the beginning.
And then you don't even pay for it.
You don't even pay for that as a full impression.
If they skip before the five seconds,
so you get brand awareness.
I'm not saying that's like as good of an impression
as a 30-second television commercial,
but I'm just saying YouTube ads,
having a presence on YouTube.
I mean, look, this bell right here,
Tony, and if you're listening, you're not going to get this.
I'm putting, I've got a, we're going to call it 60 pounds.
It's probably more like 15, but it's real gold.
You get, if you're listening, I'm going to do this every now and then.
So you go watch the YouTube because you won't get, look, I'm a big dude.
I'm 6'5", 260.
This thing is weighing down the shoulder, baby.
I haven't done it.
I didn't like this one.
I'm just telling you.
This gold's shining right here.
You got to go watch the video on YouTube to get this, Chris.
You got to see it.
Real.
You need the full experience, bro.
I'm going to wear it on the shoulder like the wrestlers do.
To be the man.
You got to beat the man. I mean, you need to be walking out of the house first it on the shoulder like the wrestlers do. You know? To be the man. You got to beat the man.
I mean, you need to be walking out of the house first thing in the morning like that
and getting out of your car at the office walking in like that.
I'm going to walk down the dock at the lake with my chubbies on.
Have your kids.
Short chubbies and just this belt.
Yes.
They're like, oh, there's Ryan Alford.
You know, with that podcast.
Number one, baby.
There he is with his wrestling belt walking around again.
Yes.
But you got to see it on YouTube.
Oh, he's doing cannonballs off his houseboat again.
Yeah.
Woo!
Yeah, there we go.
Big flare, baby.
I'm just telling you, YouTube, too big to ignore.
And flying under the radar, baby.
It's like, you know, they're like a sumo wrestler at a preschool,
somehow flying under the radar.
For real.
Like, where did that guy come from?
He's the elephant in the room you didn't see.
Yep.
Well, you're going to see it,
because every kid in America is watching it all day, all the time.
They ain't watching linear TV.
Why are you spending ads on cable TV?
What, you building a clubhouse you build a business you build a clubhouse it's the same all right it's all about value we take
the bs out of everything we know we're all going to be doing prime day baby july 7 16th and 17th
we're all going to be doing prom day, baby. July 16th and 17th. You heard it here, 12th.
Hey, we're not saying we're first. We're just saying we're right.
We let all the news sink in long enough that we know what's supposed to happen versus what's reported. And basically, Amazon, the annual mega sale, You think everything's on sale normally.
They got that mega sale, baby.
I'm telling you, I have a few Echoes, a few of those speakers that are pretty damn good back in the day.
It's $20.
My kids still have one of the shittiest tablets ever that we got for $20 or something, but it still is a $20 tablet.
16th and 17th, offering Prime members some of the best discounts all year.
It's official.
Amazon is hosting Prime Day, July 16th.
I feel like it's not just a Prime Day.
Number one, it's Prime Days, 16th and 17th.
And it seems like they have it like four times a year now.
Yeah.
You know. It does seem like now. Yeah. You know.
It does seem like that.
Bear for detail sometimes.
The 48-hour mega sale is exclusive to Prime members,
giving them access to shop deals on tech, travel accessories, kitchen gadgets,
home products, pet supplies, and more.
Below.
Oh, yeah.
They got it.
This, again, came from our friends also at nbc news
the other site they've got some of the specific categories if you want to really get into that
they don't have the deals yet i'm not giving those out yet but they do have all the categories
you have what's the cheapest thing you ever got on prime day can you remember probably like a phone charger for like two dollars
or something you know like a pack of iphone chargers or something i'll tell you what i got
i got one of those shark vacuum cleaners they were normally like no like the shark
they're the whole like the stick vacuum cleaners yeah they're normally like, no, like the shark. They're the whole, like the stick vacuum cleaners.
Yeah.
They're normally like $300.
I got one for like 80 bucks.
And I always thought those things were just, that was all hype.
Those things are, those things are awesome.
Like, they work great.
I got a robot shark.
What's a robot shark?
It's the robot vacuum.
Shark robot vacuum.
You know, one of those like Ro rumbos but it's a shark one
so that's just the brand yeah you've got to upgrade okay i got the upright shark yes
you got the rumba shark i'll tell you what good story on one of the rumbas
uh you know know where does
Ryan and the kids like to go for a little
playtime adventure
that might have some games
involved?
I want to say
the Lake. Oh, Dave and Buster's obviously.
Chris, you know me
better than that. Yeah, Dave and Buster's.
So we were having a good
banner day like normal
snapping necks and cashing checks tickets whatever they were and uh went over the old prize closet
prize room they know us there they bring me beers in there now it's like it's the greatest thing
um so we're choosing they've got a room ball the, we've stared at that Roomba.
We've gone so many times and gone.
And I've always, I've never bought into the Roomba bullshit.
I'm like, that robot is, that thing's not picking up anything.
Like it's going to, it's going to get stuck.
It's like, we got too much shit in our house.
Like got rugs.
No, the Roombas are awesome.
They actually really work.
They pick up stuff and you know,
I come home in the room,
I never bought it.
Anyway,
finally,
after some hard work
at the games,
we worked hard
for these tickets,
Chris,
hard work.
We go into the
prize closet room,
show,
whatever it is,
and we
aggregate it,
all the kids and mine, and we got that fucking Roomba
took it home exactly what I thought biggest disappointment ever now it wasn't the room
but it was the Fumba but of course it was that's a big difference bro it was, it was, it was, uh,
it was a knockoff. David Buster's isn't selling the premium. Yeah, it was not it.
But we plugged that thing in. I said it and forget it.
I came back in that thing. It was like munching on the carpet going.
Like, like in a noise I'd never heard. My wife's going, you,
I told you not to get that thing like you
cheated the rug i knew it would you know how long we've had that rug i'm like fuck
i threw that thing right in the trash that was a wasted trip to dave and buster's right there
that's a lot of tickets i bet $750 roomba
probably not that much but no they're the Alibaba special.
I'll tell you what we spend on tickets.
Oh yeah,
dude,
you probably pay well over a grand for that thing.
Not to mention the hours you put in.
I got four kids.
I've seen you in that place,
bro.
You're working.
Dude,
they're working that thing.
I mean,
four kids,
you drop $500 in there.
Like before I opened the front door.
It's like,
because if I'm going to drive all the way over
to Woodruff Road, if you've been to Greenville, you know this.
The shop's at Gridlock.
That's what we'll call it.
My good friend Mike Weston told me that one.
I'll give him credit.
We like to give credit around here.
But in all seriousness, to get
over there, you're going to spend a couple hours.
And if the six
Alford clan spends a couple
hours with Dave Busters,
let's just say you're dropping
$500 real fast.
That Roomba wasn't worth
it. But
Amazon Prime Day. Hey, I might find another one we'll see
things piece of junk though I knew it like you have you've told me you have you have the Roomba
the shark Roomba I mean does it work for you yeah I got it uh I got it for Christmas it's great for
dog hair okay yeah I run it like okay it's not as good as you know
a human cleaning right but if i run it like every other day with my dog it kind of helps just
maintain you know yeah and it's pretty good about not getting stuck the technology has definitely
gotten better but uh because i wanted one that doesn't mop also but I've read the technology
and the mop in vacuum is not
there yet so
I stuck with the traditional vacuum
it's amazing
I love it
you're single though you got like
kind of a standard floor you got this hardwoods
or hard floor like tile or whatever
it is yeah like
they don't have any crazy kids Persian rugs or anything you probably have nice expensive rugs
I don't even know necessarily that it's more like nostalgic stuff you know I mean we have some
things that are expensive but I don't know it's the rug and you know well you're in a house it's
probably yeah you know yeah I'm gonna do they can't go upstairs I'll tell you that it does not You know, you're in a house. Yeah.
You know, yeah.
I'm going to go upstairs.
I'll tell you that it does not walk upstairs.
So game over.
No.
The only thing that gets stuck up on is all the cords for the podcast stuff. Once in a while, we'll get hung up on that stuff.
It's good for maintenance, but I wouldn't count on it for a deep clean.
So that's my feeling.
You got the review.
You take the BS out of everything.
Yeah, that's been my feeling about the Roomba since the beginning.
Some people swear about them, though.
Not me.
So save your tickets at the prize closet at DMV and get a Chinese finger trap
instead and some Ring Pops, not a Roomba.
Exactly.
Or just go buy what you want to buy.
But it wouldn't be as much fun.
Finally today, the NewYorkPost.com.
Rivian soars as Volkswagen plows $5 billion into the struggling EV maker.
Quote, unquotequote game-changing.
Electric car maker Rivian's shares soar 28% Wednesday
after Volkswagen revealed it would invest up to $5 billion to jumpstart.
I like what they did there.
The Tesla rival's growth,
Tesla rival rivals growth, Tesla rivals growth.
Volkswagen said it would initially invest $1 billion into a joint venture to create what was described as a next generation software defined vehicle platform.
That will be used in both firms' electric cars.
Rivian is slated to receive another $4 billion by 2026.
The deal was seen as a much-needed boost for Rivian, which has burned through cash and energy.
That was mine.
And taken heavy financial losses while ramping up production despite slowing consumer demand for EVs.
Rivian said the investment would help the firm churn out more affordable
vehicles.
So this is a couple of things here with the business side.
I mean, like number one,
the EV thing I've always thought was overblown and too rushed for where like
consumers were ready.
They cost too much.
They don't have enough savings.
There's not enough gas energy stations.
With that said, and we talked about this a little bit pre-episode
amongst the team here, if there was an electric vehicle that I had,
you know, like give you some classical marketing.
You've got awareness, consideration, intent, and purchase.
I'm aware of Rivian.
intent and purchase i'm aware of rivian i uh have consideration i do not have intent but if there was a electric vehicle that their intent button might could be pushed down it might be rivian
because they look kind of like a range rover sleek pretty good the suv trucks look pretty cool
they don't have that i mean let's we'll talk about the
tesla cyber truck in a second that's you know dinosaur you know freaking future car whatever
but the freaking rivians look pretty good they have the sleekest look to me if i was always like
if i was gonna get one i don't like why do the electric cars have to think they have to be
look like something that we wouldn't want?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Why can't you make, like, one that looks like a Range Rover?
Yeah.
Or just.
Or a Tahoe.
Exactly.
Not, like, a refrigerator on wheels.
Yeah.
Or a iron.
But the, it does look good.
I've been in one.
It looks pretty nice.
I don't know the quality level or the longevity.
Those are always my questions.
These cars, like, shit's just going to start breaking in three years,
and you're going to be annoyed.
But they look good.
I thought I was going to get one.
So I say all this to say I think that if I had to guess,
I feel like my tastes with cars are generally like in alignment
with like other people like i think there's probably a lot of people in that boat that
oh that vivian looks pretty good i was gonna get one if it wasn't you know a million dollars
there's not that much but it still costs a lot more than others that i might consider that one. So if Volkswagen can get them into, I don't know, that space of affordability,
considering, you know, what's your price point value, all that stuff, get it more in the,
out of the astro, at the space zone, I feel like that some of these car prices are
like through the stratosphere. If you can get it more in line with that then it could
take off i think volkswagen obviously sees that you ever driven one of these
no i've never i've driven a tesla that's the only thing not a cyber truck but
i see these rivians around not as common as cyber trucks probably down here but i
i see them and there's one in my building.
It's a good-looking truck.
I agree with you.
If I had to pull the trigger on one tomorrow,
that would probably be the one I'd roll with.
Sawyer, would you drive a Rivian?
Yeah.
Drew?
Yeah.
Would you all agree that they're on the nicer looking side of the electric?
Okay, I got nods.
I had a feeling.
That was not set up and y'all aren't seeing them, but they're saying yes and they were quickly saying yes.
Sometimes when I think they think that I want them to say yes, they sort of, but they're not really wanting to say yes, they might kind of slow nod.
Like, yeah, I'll agree with you.
Sure, Ryan.
Like, yeah, I'll agree with you.
Sure, Ryan.
This was fast nodding, which means my hunch of the design is it is sort of mainstreaming like sleek, cool, has that Range Rover kind of look.
And I say Range Rover.
I think Tahoe, whatever.
Yeah, it looks like a regular vehicle.
In the Cybertruck, I've noticed the only people I hear saying they love it
is the people that own them.
Everyone else I talk to is like, yeah, it's hideous or ugly or whatever.
The Cybertruck just looks like, the moment it gets a door ding or something, I'd be like, now what?
Like, where do I get this fixed?
You know, like, is the body shop really going to know how to fix this?
No.
No.
And, or do anything with it that's the
problem with some of these specialized vehicles it's like you have to think what happens when
the shit hits the fan like okay where am i going and what am i doing to get this rectified so that
my two hundred thousand dollar you know vehicle can get back on the road, but not the sand.
Haven't seen him do too well in that.
It is exactly.
How many in Miami are there?
Like when we see a couple around Greenville,
even there was a lot now.
I mean,
I remember when they came out,
you know,
you would see him a little more scarce,
even as far back as November. I remember seeing one during Art Basel.
But now I feel like every day I see one.
And, you know, people are kind of more like tricking them out.
You're seeing wilder colors and different wheels and stuff like that.
They're just an eyesore to me.
I'm just like, oh.
It catches
my eye not in a good way.
It's not like, oh, look at that beautiful
Lamborghini or even a normal
car. You know what I mean? It's just like,
what is this clunk of metal driving down the road?
Yeah, it does look
like that. Or in Miami, what's this bright
pink clunk of metal? Because people are wrapping
them all these crazy colors and stuff.
What is it? Is it made of aluminum like a lot of the other higher end calls i assume i don't know or adamantium is that even i use that as a terminology like that's a real metal sometimes
like from the avengers compound i don't know is that actually a real metal or not just a
an avenger it's an avengers Yes, thank you, Seller.
Yeah.
It's sort of my universal term when I'm trying to describe, like,
a really hard, rare metal.
I was like, I think it's made of adamantium.
The people that know know what you're saying.
I get nods, I think, sometimes.
I think I said it last week.
Like, yeah, I think it does.
It does feel like adamantium.
I'm like, I think that's made up.
But thank you for agreeing with me.
Agreeable.
People like to be agreeable.
Even when they're not sure what Adam Antium is.
It sounds like a fancy hard metal.
Anyway, it's summertime, baby.
The heat's getting hot.
Studio's heating up.
The YouTube product's heating up.
Chris, you stay.
You might have to heat up with that rainstorm.
I don't know.
You have to battle through that.
Trying to cool down.
Get your paddles out.
I know.
I'm going to see if it's flooded when I head down.
We'll see.
It's been flooding pretty easily here.
Any final words, my friend? Rain boots.
Everyone have a safe weekend and stay hydrated. It's hot out there.
Yeah. A lot of people vacation next week. Hey, celebrate your independence.
We won't have a show until the following week.
Tell you a light week next week. I do something fun when I record early the, but I will say this, Hey,
we are independent for a reason.
Celebrate.
Fire off some fireworks.
Remember, don't take it for granted.
It's not guaranteed, baby.
