And now they're talking about something called MR, Mixed Reality, which is a little bit of both.
McDonald's wants to bring its restaurants into the metaverse.
What? No way.
I guess you go into the metaverse.
Sure.
And make the order.
Sure.
And then it delivers to you at your door.
For real.
I will say this.
The one thing about podcasting that is kind of hard to do is there's not really a community aspect for like direct feedback.
You're listening to the Radcast. If it's radical, we cover it. Here's your host, Ryan Alford.
Hey guys, what's up?
Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast.
It's Friday, February 25th, 2022.
Our weekly marketing and advertising news.
I'm joined by my co-host, my buddy, my friend, my pal, Joe Hamrick.
Amigo.
Me amigo.
Me amigo. Wow. Oh, wow. Allanish that was that's all spanish i know uh biblioteca yeah i know kyan say la boca i don't know shut your mouth okay
fair enough i don't really want you to do that now otherwise this would be quite a lot of monologue
a little weird yeah nick could jump in i'm sure but yeah he might i took french in high
school ah i don't know very good
that's not rich it's uh i don't know it was clear in my throat but uh
i don't know what that was that was excellent yes it's called x-nay Pigladinay. I don't know. Sure, sure.
Do you know Pigladin?
Isn't that the guy that, isn't he a pro wrestler?
I think so.
Yeah, no, I do know him.
Yeah.
No, I don't know Pigladin.
Do you?
No, not at all.
How's the week been?
It's good.
Good.
We were just talking about this earlier.
Yes.
Yeah, so not a lot of excitement at my house. my son made his middle school soccer team oh congratulations he's excited about that and uh i'll let him know yeah and
promptly uh got sick and is now at home sick so that's cool that's no good yeah it's not the vid
is it no no he we did a little test on him i he's got a little sore throat situation all right i've
been staying yeah away my way yeah so that's good but yeah that's great how about you um it's been
good you know coming back from vacation yep um a little tan a little golden it was you know and
then we had our biggest clients here like the day after i got back and so which was great to have
them it's been a little bit of like
a whirlwind fire you know fire drill and but it's been good we uh had a great time the kids had a
good time highly recommend beaches uh resort in turks and caicos a little free pub for you there
sponsorship sponsorship maybe call me um the next trip free, uh, yeah, the kids had a blast.
I mean, this place huge.
It felt like, I don't know, like seven resorts in one.
Really?
It really, uh, they have like, it's hard to describe.
Like they have these individual buildings that all have pools and check-ins.
So it really is like, I don't know, like seven units in one all on the beach and they all have themes
like there's a french place and an italian place and mediterranean and they all have their separate
check-ins and stuff but you share all the amenities there's like 21 restaurants i was
gonna say probably have their own individual restaurants yeah and so there's 21 restaurants
on site a 45 000 square foot water park geez um and it was like the kids had a blast
it was like disney world like a water park that was disney like a miniature disney world and
they're they're old enough to where you can kind of let them yeah we let them go and we kind of
hung out to the old one to watch the last one yep so uh yeah it was a good time um and you know just been grinding away on the week you know rise and grind
bro rise and grind do you uh do you venture off uh territory when you're there or no not if we'd
have been there for like seven to ten days we were there for four nights five days sure there's so
much to do on the resort yeah and with the beach there, too. The beach is beautiful there.
White sand, blue water.
It's like, you know, and it's actually you can get in.
Like some of those Caribbean islands, even Mexico, can be kind of rough, seaweed-y.
It's beautiful, but you don't get in much there.
The water's pretty calm.
You can get in.
Sweet.
Sounds very nice.
I'll have to check it out.
And you can get there direct from Charlotte.
So very easy.
Two and a half hour flight.
Two and a half?
Yeah.
Not bad.
Not bad at all.
Wow.
I'm confused about where Turks and Caicos is, I think.
Right below the Bahamas.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, if I can find it, I'll visit.
Yeah.
Just take your private helicopter there.
Take a left at Cuba, right?
Yeah, right above Cuba, actually.
Pretty close.
Sure.
So, yeah, it was good.
I noticed your Daft Punk T-shirt.
I don't know.
Is that visible, Nick?
Can we see that?
Yeah, Daft Punk.
And interestingly enough, they made some news this week.
They released an old concert
they're they're broken up yeah as a group have been for a little bit yeah but they did release
on twitch a concert from like 98 i want to say wow it was like a while ago it was like before
they were the even like the electronic like metal helmets and stuff like that so uh yeah they were
one time only release no No replay, no nothing.
So we missed it.
We missed it.
Fantastic.
But I saw that and I was like, all right.
And then you walk in with a Daft Punk t-shirt.
That was not planned.
Not planned.
It was not.
I've worn this shirt maybe twice in six months.
Yeah.
And today was the day.
I like Daft Punk, though.
I do, too.
Hence the, you know.
That's the t-shirt.
It's not Double Dare, though. I do, too. Hence the, you know. That's the shirt. It's not Double Dare, though.
It isn't Double Dare.
This shirt is actually original.
Could be 15 years old, this shirt.
Might be older than that.
Might be older than that.
Did I?
I don't think I had this shirt in.
No, no, no.
It's not that old.
Yeah, it's not that old.
Been after college.
But it wasn't.
I don't think it was that far after college.
I have a picture of my son sitting on my lap at maybe his first or second birthday,
and I'm wearing this shirt.
He's almost 14.
Hey, so you know he's at least that old.
It's documentation.
I've got the receipts.
Yes, yes.
It's been a good week.
We had William Branham on the podcast on Tuesday that released
former 26-year Navy SEAL. Jeez released former navy 26 years navy seal geez served 26 years
uh 10 9 or 10 deployments uh come out owing him a debt of gratitude yeah gratitude uh
and gravity and gravity the gravity of the gratitude we uh that's not very good yeah
spin it around my own my own tripping over the words i turned into a
positive yeah but william was awesome he owns a company called naked warrior cbd products okay
and does a lot in the area of cbd and therapies and different things for um uh former soldiers
and stuff sure and so uh really great guests doing a lot of great things and you
know it was real transparent about what it takes to be a navy seal which is uh being a badass yeah
i can't imagine he's just describing what you go through and i asked i was like how many people
could actually do this and he's like uh you know probably actually mike could make it maybe more than
you think but how many actually get through it not many yeah no that's a pretty elite group
yeah i never i could never i probably wouldn't last five minutes if we're being
like get in that pool i'm like that pool's cold yeah much less like making you uh almost drowned
yeah and uh like unlock yourself under the water at 10 feet.
Pass on that.
Yeah.
Stay on the ground.
Stay on the firm surface here.
Yeah.
So he was great.
Next week, Pace Morby.
He's the lead guy on Triple Digit Flip.
Okay.
I'll call him, I guess, the host or lead.
Cool name.
Reality Triple Digit Flip.
He does some really unique ways for buying houses
and showing how you can make money buying houses with no money down.
And it's not just like that no money down guy from back in the –
Yeah.
Little tiny newspaper ads.
Remember that guy?
Yeah.
Newspaper ads and no money down.
Little tiny ads.
Little tiny ads.
Remember that in infomercial yeah i
never thought it made any sense like what are you doing yeah well he's not doing that he's actually
buying and selling houses and doing showing you how to buy it with no money down doing a foreclosure
called sub two is what it's called the type of financing he does but uh really cool guy pace
was awesome very like probably the most thoughtful guest we've
ever had really like just very easy but like complimentary and like he'd done his homework
on the show and really just i don't know just really good guy that seems uh i'm gonna listen
to that because i mean if that's if that's a good way to make a little bit of it's a lot of good
knowledge i'll just say that.
Okay.
So...
I will check it out.
Check out Pace Morby.
Next Tuesday on the Radcast,
triple-digit flip.
Go watch it on A&E.
Okay.
That's where the show is.
That's fantastic.
I will tell you,
not to slow the show down,
but I've been seeing a lot of your boy Spencer Pratt.
He's like, all of a sudden,
I've seen like four or five different things of him. He's getting out
there. I've been texting with him.
He gave us a nice compliment. He's like,
the only thing crushing it for our
market right now is the emails we're doing
for him, the email flows.
But yeah, Spencer is out there.
They're kind of blowing up on TikTok.
Him and Heidi, they're
blowing up on TikTok, him and Heidi.
They've gotten into a little groove
and doing a lot of stuff. He's doing a couple of different
online
reality shows.
He's out there.
There was an interview of him talking about something about the Hills
where some date that he went on
on the Hills was fake or something like that.
I don't know everybody's name on the Hills, but
some girl.
How can we all? We can't all know.
We can't know everything. name on the hills, but some girl. How can we all? We can't all know all the names. We can't know everything.
Yes.
Everything all at once.
Jeez.
Hallelujah.
I try.
You try.
You do try.
I do.
It's so hard.
Well, I think we should get to it.
Okay.
It's time for another absurd holiday.
There's no shortage of dumb things to celebrate.
The Radcast social media holiday segment.
Yeah!
Dab.
Dab.
Let it play through.
So, social holidays this week.
We've got one, two, three, four days.
And quite a few big ones to get to.
Okay.
Ones you can't miss.
Important ones.
Important ones.
They're always important, Joe.
And these are the big ones.
Okay.
Important ones.
They're always important, Joe.
And these are the big ones.
Okay.
Today, February 25th, is National Chocolate-Covered Nuts Day.
Well, okay.
That's a good one to start with, I guess.
Get your nuts covered in chocolate.
Cover them up in chocolate.
Where do you have that done, do you think? I don't know.
I was looking that up before the show.
I was like, where do you get your nuts covered in chocolate?
You were looking that up on your...
Is that why HR was talking to you?
HR.
Yeah.
And I was looking for the, you know, like the coating chocolate.
Sure.
The stuff that turns hard.
Right.
Like, you don't want just chocolate, like, melted.
You want it to, like...
You want the...
What is this stuff?
The magic shell.
The magic shell. Yeah. That's what we wanted. Magic shell coating. magic shell. The magic shell.
Yeah.
That's what we wanted.
Magic shell coating.
Magic shell.
All your nuts.
You can't get the butterscotch.
It's got to be the chocolate.
Yeah.
But because it's chocolate-covered nuts day.
Yeah.
Well, it's a great day.
It is a great day.
Are you yawning?
Did you just yawn?
Nick's already yawning.
You suck at yawning.
Oh, God.
We're boring him to death.
Yeah, we are.
Not to be outdone,
it's National
Clam Chowder Day.
Sure it is.
Why wouldn't it be?
Clam Chowder.
Why wouldn't it be?
Do you like clam chowder?
Yeah.
Chowder.
Do you like clam chowder?
I love clam chowder.
You like the traditional white clam chowder?
What's the red, Manhattan?
The red. Yeah, definitely go with the white. Wasn't chowder? What's the red, Manhattan? The red.
Yeah, definitely going with the white.
White, yeah.
Wasn't that on Seinfeld?
Is it the white or the red?
Never remember that.
No, that was Ace Ventura.
Not Seinfeld.
Is it the white or the red?
Yeah.
It's the white.
It's the white.
Never remember that.
Yeah.
It's also, I have no idea what this is,
but I'm going to say it because it's on my show notes from the producer.
Sure.
National Skip the Straw Day.
Skip the Straw Day.
Is that like saving the planet?
So you skip the straw, like don't give me a straw?
I guess.
Maybe it is.
That's an easy thing to do, I guess.
Or just give me a paper one that I hate.
Yeah, or get one of those metal ones so you can break a tooth on it yeah those are the worst those are the worst either the
paper ones that dissolve into your drink and like in your mouth while you're and it's like
oh so they make straws out of i've i've actually had a little experience with this they make them
out of uh like pasta like you can buy straws that are made out of like long tubes of pasta okay
which is quite weird yeah uh they've made a lot of advances.
There's like amp ones.
There we go.
Yeah.
A little CBD laced.
Yeah.
Or just be a big boy, right?
Just drink without it.
How old do you get it?
I mean, you got to have a straw.
Not really.
Sometimes in restaurants, I'll use a straw just to, depending on how clean the restaurant looks.
If it looks like, you know, eh, then pop a straw in there. Just in case, you know? Pop a straw. to depending on how clean the restaurant looks if it looks like you know then pop a straw in there just in case you know pop a straw pop it just pop a straw pop a straw
that's tomorrow pop a straw day sounds like a rapper pop a straw pop a straw like papa smurf
sort of yeah that's a great rap dj pop a straw oh that sounds italian kind of ah papa dj papa
big papa straw and they're going with this big poppy straw uh big papa sure david ortiz Sounds Italian, kind of. Papa. DJ Papa Straw. Big Papa Straw.
Keep going with this.
Big Poppy Straw.
Big Papa Straw.
David Ortiz.
Yes.
Line of straws.
So there's your three days today.
Chocolate-covered nuts day.
National clam chowder day and national skip the straw day.
I'm going to get some magic.
What's it called?
Magic?
The chocolate-covered nut stuff?
Magic Shell.
We just said it. I was like, what?
Magic Shell.
Grab that maybe on your lunch break or something.
Thank you.
Apply it.
Maybe not.
We don't have to go that far.
Tomorrow.
Nick instantly was like, national personal chef day sure ah celebrate the personal chefs they don't get enough of recognition i know i'm my personal chef that i don't have yeah well yeah
you know there's someone at your house that cooks meals more me than anyone is it really no we're probably equal yeah like yeah actually man i'm
probably like five to one the other side the cold works your ass off like she's doing stuff after
school and everything like that so i'm usually just picking up like to go or sure i'll throw
something on the grill it goes not really cooking though so i feel like yeah maybe you overstated it
grill. Tico's not really cooking though, so I feel like maybe you overstated it.
Did I do it?
I thought I was actually...
I cooked it.
I picked it up.
They let me in the kitchen at Applebee's
and I cooked all this.
It's also National
Pistachio Day
on Saturday. Pistachio?
Pistachio. Why are you pronouncing it like that?
All that French talk earlier. Pistachio. Pistachio. I love pistachios.achio why are you pronouncing all that french talk earlier pistachio pistachio
i love pistachios yeah these pistachios could you put some chocolate on your pistachios hey
that's a great chocolate covered pistachio that's still a nut isn't it is it pistachio and nut oh
yeah all right there we go we'll join these things up Friday and Saturday. Yeah.
We'll get a full weekend of chocolate nut covering.
Good Lord.
It's also Saturday, National Tell-A-Fairy-Tale Day.
Tell-A-Fairy-Tale.
Okay.
Say that three times fast.
Tell-A-Fairy-Tale Day.
So you tell someone one that exists, or you make one up?
Maybe make one.
You want to make one up of the Ratcast?
Sure.
Starring Nick Weaver.
Nick Weaver.
There once was a boy named Nick.
He always called in sick.
He ran around town with a clown and then it was time to frown i was gonna say then he got
kicked in his dick because that would come back it would bring it back back right yeah i like it
he doesn't like that nick doesn't like that rhyme because you're getting kicked to the dick on that
yes pass probably right i have lost my keyboard, Nick. Oh, boy. I know.
Take it away.
Now maybe you are.
It was like the perfect time for a...
You know.
Right.
Yes.
Well, you can't win them all, I guess, right?
No, you can't.
And Sunday is International Polar Bear Day.
Yep.
Okay.
Moving on.
How do you celebrate that one?
It's actually also National Kahlua Day.
Okay.
National give a polar bear some Kahlua Day.
Yeah.
Kahlua.
That's a weird branded holiday.
They paid for that, you think?
Unless it's koala.
No.
I think that's cool.
Cool.
I think that's cool.
Is it koala or kalua? It's kalua.
Look at that.
Tell me.
K-A-H-L-U-A is how you spell kalua.
K-A-H-L-U-A.
Kalua Day.
I was like, I was second guessing.
Oh, koala cool.
Oh, koala cool. Oh, yes.
Polar bear day and
kaluwa day.
I was imagining like koalas and polar bears
fighting.
It would make a lot more sense.
Oh, dude, my eyes are watering.
So while you're celebrating
the polar bears, you get to have some kaluwa.
Sure.
With your koalas.
But yeah, Kahlua day.
Sure.
What do you mix Kahlua in?
Coffee?
Coffee, yeah.
Isn't there an Irish whiskey?
Is that the drink it has?
What's in a black Russian?
I don't know.
I know what a white Russian is. Right.
Well, that's not Kahlua.
That's Bailey's in it?
Yeah, Bailey's.
Bailey's and coffee is good.
Bailey's and coffee is good.
I used to drink that at Pixie Mills.
In the morning?
Remember Pixie Mills?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I used to drink all kinds of things at Pixie Mills.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
Oh, whoops.
Oh.
Okay, so it's also national pokemon day sunday
the 27th that's a couple brand do you think they paid for that kalua and pokemon having to share
the same day they pay for it i mean i think they just name it you know they just call it they say
say whatever like we say today's national radcast day like we should create a radcast why not you know it needs to be on a thursday yeah
every third thursday of of the month we can make it multiple times yeah why not who's to tell us
that we can't one day of the month is radcast day sure it's also national protein day get your
protein sure or is my uh young my oldest son when he was young he called it protein okay i don't
know why but yeah i don't know why either that's uh started calling that and let him call it that
my uh my son used to you know digiorno's the pizza he used to call that dignarino's
dignarino's like can we have frozen dignarino i'm just like sure buddy der Dignarino? I'm just like, sure, buddy. Dirk Dignarino's.
We're losing.
Yes.
Natural, natural.
It's National Retro Day. Yes.
Do you want...
We might have to have somebody else read those next week.
Yes, I think so.
This is called shit, like all of my show notes here.
What is it, though?
National Retro Day.
My shirt is retro.
I'm a little bit ahead of the times.
And lastly, there's a lot of days on Sunday.
Sure.
National Strawberry Day.
Okay.
Which seems like a bigger...
I mean, strawberries are pretty universal, so it seems...
Yeah.
The National Strawberry Council probably paid for that one.
Yeah.
But now they're sharing it with Kahluas, Kahula, and Pokemon.
What, Nick?
What if it was neither?
What if it wasn't Kahlua or Koala?
It was like...
There's a Hawaiian island with a K or something, right? Ki we're gonna look none of this is right no it's kalua i believe you
i'm gonna have a look at it i believe you some i lost my ability to read i i don't think i can
read right my eyes are still like from laughing so yes it's oh monday moving on sure national chocolate souffle day
a lot of desserts i know you got souffles strawberries chocolate covered nuts pistachios
pistachios kalua clam chowder yeah clam chowder it's also national floralal Design Day on Monday the 28th. Floral Design Day.
Last day of the month, right?
Yeah. For 29 days?
Yeah.
29.
No, 28 days in February.
29 is a leap year.
Yep.
It's National Tooth Fairy Day as well on Monday.
Okay.
So if you have too much of the souffle, et cetera, we get the Tooth Fairy.
Yeah, exactly.
How much do kids get for Tooth Fairy now?
Five or ten bucks.
I would say five, probably.
But it's been a while.
We've had some.
Poor Nash had his tooth had to get pulled and shattered.
He had a two-hour experience in the dentist.
He got a 20 spot.
Yeah, that one's worth.
It might have been worth more than that.
A gift card or something.
Yeah, get out a gel-free card or something.
I don't know. I think we used to get a dollar, maybe. A dollar, card or something. Yeah, get out a free, jail-free card or something. I don't know.
I think we used to get a dollar, maybe.
A dollar, maybe.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Inflation.
There we go.
It's, and finally, Monday, February 28th.
Is that Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday?
Yes, Monday the 28th. Is National Public Sleeping Day.
Why?
Is that homeless day?
Yeah.
Same thing?
Sleeping in public?
I don't know.
When's the last time you slept in public?
Maybe in a class in school?
Public sleeping day.
Yeah, I don't know.
Sleeping in public.
Nick?
Maybe at the airport.
Oh, okay. Public sleeping day. That's a great point. I'm not at the airport. Oh, okay.
Public sleeping day.
That's a great point.
I'm not going to tell my kids about this.
They'll be falling asleep at school.
It's okay, Dad.
It's National Public Sleeping Day.
Freaking kids.
There you have it.
It's time for another absurd holiday.
There's no shortage of dumb things to celebrate.
The Redcast
social media holiday
segment.
Yeah!
That was quite the adventure.
Trying to get through that. Hardest I've laughed in
months, probably.
Kalua, Kalua, Kalua.
I think the reason I thought it was koala
was because polar bear day
was before it
so it had me second guessing the spelling
that's fair right
that was the funniest thing
anyone could have done it
I'm glad that happened
that was great now let's get to the important
things right trends in the metaverse
such as crisp clear yeah it's good like I was playing the piano. It is. Yeah, that's the synthesizer.
Okay.
I was going to say, pianos don't sound like that.
Yeah.
Synthesizer would.
Mm-hmm.
What's the thing?
Theremin.
You know what that is?
No.
You know what theremin is?
Make that sound.
It's like two sticks.
Read my lips.
Right.
Sure.
No.
Saw that one coming.
Nick knows what it is, though.
So, our trends in the metaverse. We've got several. We've got to get to these. Okay. Got to pick up the pace here. Sure. No. Saw that one coming. Nick knows what it is now. So our trends in the metaverse, we've got several.
We've got to get to these.
We've got to pick up the pace here.
Sure.
So there is obviously a lot happening in the metaverse.
Facebook's talking a lot about it.
And they've got something come out because you've got AR.
You've got reality, which is the world we live in sometimes.
Regular, yeah.
You've got VR, which is the world we live in sometimes. Regular, yeah. You've got VR, virtual reality.
Sure.
And now they're talking about something called MR, mixed reality,
which is a little bit of both.
Okay.
So technology that could allow a person wearing an MR headset
to use a real-world object to trigger a virtual world reaction,
like hitting a video game character with a real-world baseball bat.
Jesus.
It's one of three types of extended reality technologies
often associated with the metaverse.
Augmented reality exists with mobile games like Pokemon Go,
but players cannot
affect the digital world with a physical object that's true so virtual reality headsets like
oculus immerse users into a fully digital world where they can interact with the environment so
facebook is working on these mixed realities where again you're in the vr world but you can
use physical objects that have interaction in it so you've got the vr world but you can use physical objects that have
interaction in it so you've got the vr headset on let's say you've got a hammer right next to you
sure you got to be careful what you're hitting in the real world with your goggles on sure but
in theory that action i guess there's it's tied to your motion and everything else and
so here's my question would it be any like any hammer or is it a special hammer that
you have to buy and it's a whole thing more details coming joe sure not in the show notes
but it sounds like it's it's being developed these mixed realities sure uh thank god yeah
we can't get the real world right and somehow we're trying to here we go yeah you know create
this mixed reality maybe that's Maybe that's the great hope.
Escape.
Escape is that we screwed up the real world so much,
we get in this mixed reality.
Maybe that's where, I don't know, peace lies.
Wow, that's deep.
Was that deep?
That was a deep concept.
Deep thoughts in the metaverse.
That may be a new little sound.
Deep thoughts in the metaverse. Deep thoughts. new new little sound deep thoughts in the metaverse deep
thoughts so we'll let you stew on that one uh McDonald's wants to bring its restaurants into
the metaverse what no way McDonald's looks to be the latest brand to tap into growing interest in
the metaverse they have joined they have filed trademarks for an entirely virtual metaverse restaurant that delivers your food IRL in real life.
In real life.
Well, I don't understand what that means.
So I guess you go into the metaverse and make the order.
Sure.
And then it delivers to you at your door.
For real.
For real.
Sure.
That sounds like mixed reality.
I've overheard it yeah yeah
right so uh mcdonald's is ahead of the mcdonald's has plans for both a virtual and real world dining
experience that doesn't even require you hopping off your game to order you are hanging out in the
metaverse and you get hungry you don't have to put down your headset you walk into a mcdonald's
and place an order it arrives at your door a little while later a little while
later yeah that's very interesting that's gonna seem like real fast food which is typically pretty
slow yep yeah sure you know some some faster than others but yeah you're absolutely right
yeah that's man that's how the hell does that work well i mean you it's it's all tied to the
internet it's so different than ordering on your app. I know it's the internet, right?
I mean, but you know what I'm saying?
Like, what's the difference between getting your Uber Eats app out?
Right, right.
So you're in the metaverse and you order.
It's all connected.
So it's like ordering on the app, but you're in a McDonald's in the metaverse.
So internet.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I guess my question would be like, why not just go ahead and order it,
Bite Squad or whatever, or Uber Eats?
Because you don't want to leave the metaverse.
I wonder if Uber Eats has metaverse plans.
Probably.
Because then any restaurant is a virtual restaurant, Nick.
Yep.
Think about that.
Hey.
Uber Eats could set up a food court.
And in theory, you can order off the food court menu and have anything delivered.
Huge.
A huge food court.
Huge food court.
Never ending.
Every restaurant they have.
Wow.
Hey.
The times we live in, man.
Yeah.
This is...
When you don't want to leave the metaverse.
You want to stay in the metaverse, like doing all that meta stuff you're doing.
So you could even have mixed reality where you're eating your cheeseburger
and you can see the cheeseburger,
but you're really eating it.
Exactly.
Right.
Wow.
Yeah.
It's coming.
It's coming.
Jesus.
Yeah.
It means you can interact with others
and even buy in real life.
IRLs now in real life.
Ooh, yeah. That's what all now in real life. Ooh, yeah.
That's what all the hipsters say.
Hip, yeah.
Like a Big Mac without logging off.
Yeah.
Sure.
Make it log on is what it will do.
You're going to log on later.
Right until then.
That Big Mac.
The Wrangler is celebrating 75 years in business with a Mr Wrangler campaign
that centers on the metaverse in a partnership with musician Leon Bridges don't know who that is
good soul singer okay who helped conceptualize and choreograph the effort the denim maker marketed
walks will auction 75 animated icon tier non-fungible tokens this week through the platform
each captures one of bridges dance moves and opens access to online communities
uh you will have access to decentral land and a vip pass to an invite only performance with
the grammy winner that will be at New York Fashion Week in September.
You've got the physical and the digital. You've got the
digital asset of the dance
and then you get the physical asset
to the concert.
Wrangler is, to me,
an older brand, right?
They're trying to get more hip.
Do people wear Wranglers? Yeah, they do.
Cowboys and stuff?
I know Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a big Wrangler fan.
Brett Favre, maybe?
Yeah, I think he is too.
Or is that Haynes or something?
Or both?
I don't know.
Yeah.
They're trying to revitalize the brand here and make it a little more trendy.
And I think it is getting a little trendier.
Yeah.
I feel like I had some Wranglers when i was a kid maybe
yeah you did but i've never it's not a bunch of levi's sure well everyone had the i think i'm i
may be wearing levi's right now i'm not i'm not 100 positive i think they're really wasn't that
a campaign i think they're levi's it should have been yeah i mean you tell me. You're the, right? Yeah. Levi's. Yeah. Levi's. Call us.
Yeah.
Speaking of wearables, my hat that I'm wearing today, if you're watching.
It's a great hat.
It's made by a company called Branded Bills.
I mean, it's just a few weeks back.
We finalized terms for a sponsorship agreement.
So we want to welcome the Branded Bills family to the radcast family family sure they will
be sponsoring our apparel they will be the official apparel company of the radcast nice so we're going
to be wearing hats here yeah like we're all suited up branded bills top to bottom in radcast gear I
like it it's gonna be a gigantic radcast logo a onesie like a yeah onesie yeah so uh thank welcome branded bills and if you want to go
check them out google branded bills branded bills.com they have badass hats hoodies t-shirts
beanies really cool stuff underpants uh i don't know maybe that's on their uh their uh
future items that may be released. Metaverse.
They might be in the metaverse.
Yeah, Metaverse.
So branded bills, be on the lookout for them
and all our cool shit we'll be wearing.
So moving away and moving out of
trends in the metaverse.
Hard cut.
Yeah. Done. Yeah.
Done.
Oh, moving on to our more important news.
Condé Nast has inked a deal with TikTok to monetize exclusive content for Vogue and GQ that will be made exclusively on TikTok.
Huh?
Yeah.
So Vogue and GQ content on TikTok.
Okay.
The deal includes a variety of content formats,
mostly around fashion month, as well as style and shopping,
such as live streams, hashtag challenges,
and short- form video series produced
by condi nasa editorial teams excellent more details to come as always as always yes what
exactly the publisher and platform will be pitching advertisers is still in the early stages sure it
is so they come to us from digiday digiday. So they don't know. Yeah, they don't know.
They haven't come up with it yet.
We know that TikTok is popular, and we're going to do something with them.
That's the news.
TikTok is very popular.
It is popular.
Yeah.
It's been popular for you.
The teens.
It's been very popular for me recently.
Have you had any other releases here?
No.
The problem is, here's the problem, is Joey edits them
and he's obviously
quite busy right now
editing something else.
So,
I've been kind of on him to,
we have a,
the one that blew up
is the dad one
where me and my son
are playing video games
or whatever.
There's like still
two or three of those
that came out of that day
we filmed
that haven't been released.
So,
I'm hoping one of those
blows up again.
Well,
we need up and coming to get finished. well but my personal brand is important we're fighting up and
coming dot series on instagram you go follow us there yes pulling pulling joey back by his arm
like dragging around i think he's around here somewhere we can he is around here somewhere
yeah that upcoming series uh instagram page Instagram page is looking pretty good.
Yeah, starting to build some momentum.
Yep.
Behind the scenes stuff.
Sure.
And some of the latest articles.
We're hoping to get another feature with WYFF locally wants to do a feature.
I will tell you, they probably won't let them on live because we were on the live news one time.
And I don't know if you remember how that turned out.
Yeah.
They weren't thrilled about that.
That was WSPA, though.
Yeah, okay.
Then we're okay.
Maybe if WIFF didn't watch that.
We can go wreck WIFF.
Yeah, they're next.
That'll be good.
So Netflix is bringing its short-form video feed, Fast Laughs.
I was not aware of Fast Laughs.
Me neither.
To the TV.
They're bringing short-form video feature to the big screen that launched a year ago.
TikTok-inspired feed of funny videos had previously only been available on mobile devices.
It serves as a way to introduce Netflix users to new shows, movies, and comedy specials
that they may want to watch.
So I guess it was just kind of
more of a vertical video format.
Sure.
I think they're going to reposition it
for the television.
I think I've seen that on the mobile app.
You have?
Fast laugh.
It's like there's an emoji for it,
I think, like a laughing emoji
or whatever they use for it.
I think.
You think?
I'll have to look it up.
Are you big Netflix?
Are you Netflix?
I do. Well, so I watch have to look it up. Yeah. Are you big Netflix? You Netflix? I do.
I watch, there's a couple things I watch pretty religiously over and over,
and Trailer Park Boys is one of them, and that's on Netflix, so.
Okay.
I have to have Netflix.
You don't watch any of their other series?
Oh, no, I do.
Ozark.
Ozark.
Have you caught up on it?
I am caught up.
Are you?
Oh, no.
Oh, boy.
I haven't watched season four yet.
Good.
Oh, my God.
Yeah. The second half of season four is. Good? Oh, my God. Yeah.
The second half of season four is coming out, I think, April 23rd or something like that.
Yep.
Sponsor us, Ozark.
Yeah.
By the time I catch up on it, I might be able to watch both of them together because I haven't
even started the first half.
Yeah.
Well, that actually would be great because now I'm like, oh, now what's going to happen?
Oh, boy.
Don't tell me.
Nope.
Don't tell me.
Spoiler.
You watch Peaky Blinders?
I have.
Yep.
I do not religiously.
You said you love it.
I just started the second season.
Yeah.
It's good.
Enjoying it.
Sure.
I did fall asleep watching it last night, but it was not really a reflection of the show.
It happens.
More reflection of me being tired.
Sure.
Moving on. Mm-hmm. I'm moving on get to this stuff okay get ready for nitrogen infused nitro pepsi i read about that pepsi is unveiled nitro pepsi
softer soft drink or something they said a new nitrogen infused product aiming to help the brand
remain fresh with an ever-shifting youth culture. Smoother tasting alternative, less carbonation.
Softer soft drink, I think I saw.
So it's just going to be lots of sugar.
It's going to be flat Pepsi, which we all know is delicious.
So good.
I know.
We know how much we love Pepsi around here.
Yeah, especially Pepsi.
I forgot about that.
They're on our no-fly list.
Yeah, yeah.
They don't want to do us.
So, yeah, so look out for Nitro Pepsi.
That came to us from The Drum, thedrum.com.
LinkedIn is partnering with Verizon to enter the podcasting arena.
Of course they are.
Video may have killed the radio star,
but in recent years, audio-based entertainment is making a comeback.
Is that right?
Yeah, I like that. is that right yeah i like
that is that like that headline um but today linkedin has announced that it's getting in on
the podcast gold rush yeah right here at radcast that's the gold rush gold rush by launching the
linkedin podcast network news of the launch arrives during a moment of steep growth for
linkedin and the podcast industry.
Yes, it has.
An advertiser-supported pilot program created in partnership with Verizon aims to transform podcasting into a more community-oriented industry.
So we might have to get the Radcast on there.
I was going to say, it'd be perfect for that, right?
Yep.
LinkedIn hopes to make it easier for listeners to engage with creators and vice versa.
I will say this.
Vice versa.
Vice versa.
Vesa.
Vestasio.
My French.
Vestasio.
Vesa.
Very good.
Very good.
Ding.
So I will say this.
The one thing about podcasting that is kind of hard to do is, you know, we have our data.
We know people are listening.
We have our website where people can certainly send stuff.
And we get DMs on our social channels.
But there's not really a community aspect for, like, direct feedback, like of episodes and like,
like that one,
like a forum,
so to speak,
like forums for them.
And so if they could bring that to life where the community and the
engagement between creators,
which we are sure.
And the audience could be pretty interesting.
Don't know how that will come to life exactly,
but I do think there is a lot of white space for that yeah i and i like i love like interacting with like
on live or whatever i love that stuff and i think that's probably the next phase for us is figuring
out we're working through it like the live you know doing this as a live show yeah maybe fielding
questions that those sort of things so we did it we i mean we did sort of do it yeah right yeah i mean sort of sort of keyword being sort of yeah yeah sort of we'll get it back we'll
get back to it but yeah so we'll see where linkedin goes with their verizon partnership
i don't know why verizon partnership i don't know if it's a 5G LTE thing. I don't know what the hell the Verizon part is,
if it's just a sponsorship,
but they're doing it together.
We'll see.
Yep, I'm excited about it.
That's our news for this week, my friend.
Nice.
That was the key marketing and advertising.
Advertising?
I kind of like advertising.
I do like that.
That might be a good new term. Yeah. I don't think I. I do like that. That might be good.
A good new term.
Yeah.
I think I drank too many energy drinks this morning or something.
I'm stumbling on my words.
These things hit hard.
Yeah, they do.
Any final thoughts from you, my friend?
Gosh.
Peace be with you.
Beam me up, Scotty okay fair enough i uh yeah i'm just i'm excited about the the pilot coming out
and yeah i want to hear more about this wiff thing we'll have to take that off the air but
yeah i know uh see what that looks like yeah it's it's exciting stuff i know so go follow us at up
and coming dot series for all the latest info on the pilot that we're filming.
Already filmed, I should say.
Now editing.
Editing, yeah.
Might take a couple years.
Coming in 2024.
Yes.
Oh, boy.
We'll see where it happens.
And thanks to Braided Bills.
We'll see you and hear a lot more about them as we come in the coming weeks.
So we will see where that goes.
We'll have all kinds of apparel.
Might do some giveaways even.
I like that.
