Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, what's up? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. You're listening to the latest Radcast News Update. I'm Ryan Alford, your host, and today is June 10th, 2022. It's our Marketing and Advertising Weekly News Edition. Christina Yossi, what's up? Not much. What's up with you? Oh, you know, just reading through this, just doing all our takes, and getting geared up for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Always. Always ready to go. Yeah. Look forward to it every week. Mr. Weaver's a perfectionist, and he likes to get everything just right. So we've got all our camera angles today. Yes. Three in one, folks.
Starting point is 00:00:39 So if you're listening, I'm going to go ahead and plug. You need to be watching us on IG, YouTube, Facebook. Wherever you watch your podcast. Wherever you watch your podcast. Just not the car. Excuse me. Not Shopify. Spotify.
Starting point is 00:00:53 There it is. Spotify. Now it has a watch, and you can watch it on Spotify. There you go. We're there. Anywhere you want to watch, you need to watch it so you can see all the angles, all the info, all the cool stuff in our room, even our cool merch, which we'll talk about. Yes. It's been a good week at Radical.
Starting point is 00:01:15 It has been. Been a busy week. Indeed. New clients onboarding and just lots of exciting stuff. Hustle, bustle, tussle. All right, Dr. Seuss. Hey. Is that alliteration or rhyming?
Starting point is 00:01:29 That was rhyming. Okay. That was rhyming. Sorry. I didn't pass grade school or whatever. And look, you're doing great. I'm okay. It worked out.
Starting point is 00:01:39 So did you read the Morbius release? I did. I heard the office talking about it. You read me telling you about it? Everyone knew about it but me. I had heard of it, but I didn't know all the ins and outs of the re-release. Enlighten us. So for our listeners who might not know, Morbius is a Marvel film, a terrible Marvel film.
Starting point is 00:01:57 Got horrible reviews. Jared Leto's in it. And after it was released, the internet did their thing and trolled it and started making memes that it was the best movie ever and they were going to have a sequel, and it's Morbin time was the tagline, and so Sony listened to the internet and said, oh, we should re-release it.
Starting point is 00:02:17 So they re-released it in about 1,000 theaters across the states, and each theater made about $200. That sounds about right. That's what happens when you follow the trolls and you, it made like 80, social movements are not always sales movements. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:02:32 And, and all publicity is good publicity, but that doesn't mean it's money. Yeah. I wonder if like the downloads are higher though or something. Are they, you know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:41 It's all the popcorn at the theater, but they may be more streams. I don't know. Who knows? Who knows the popcorn at the theater, but maybe more streams. I don't know. Who knows? Who knows? Somebody made money off of it. I'm going to not watch it again. Same.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Same. I'm going to not see it twice. And we had Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. Yes. Did she even attend? Yeah, she did. Okay. I thought I saw where she was.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Yeah, it was testy there for a little while, but the woman's been queen for 70 years. I just hope I live 70 years. Let's be queen. And she's met Elvis. She met Marilyn Monroe. I mean, she's been alive for a lot of wars. I don't quite get all. I'm just going to go ahead and be American.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I don't get all the royalty shit. I get the history. I understand the monarchy. I understand it at a high level but I don't totally get it I feel like you're either really into it or you're not like you're one of two people I don't really understand what powers
Starting point is 00:03:38 if it's purely just influence at this point what powers do they really wield I don't know I have fallen off of my European government. Yeah. But it is interesting. Symbiotic. Symbolic.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Yeah, symbolic. There you go. Symbiotic. Symbiotic. That's what we're all working together to see how symbolic it is. Nailed it. Made it work. Yes, nailed it.
Starting point is 00:04:00 There it is. There it is. And we are going to be starting our Tic Tacs. Tic Tacs. I love Tic Tacs. Oh, there it is. There it is. And we are going to be starting our Tic Tacs. Tic Tacs. I love Tic Tacs. Oh, there it is. That's who should sponsor this. Tic Tacs should sponsor Tic Tacs.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I'll make a note. There was a Freudian slip trying to actually work out how we get a new sponsor. You're manifesting. Tic Tac, if you're listening, we need you for our tic-tac stat of the week it's too big to ignore people so we're going to talk about it 50 of users 40 and over send a video to a friend after viewing it wow that struck me as high yeah because i don't send that many videos and i may or may not be over 40 and see i'm under 40 but i send probably 62 of the videos oh okay to people uh so again and here's another high number 92 of users 40 plus plan to use the app the same amount or more in
Starting point is 00:04:56 the future wow so it's here to stay i point out these 40 plus i think these are interesting because everybody still thinks it's you know a teenager platform not so fast my friends 40 plus lots of users and a stat we called out last week over half of all daily users now are over 30 in the u.s wow that's wild there you go and here's a big one growing nearly 5 million users a week. That doesn't surprise me at all. Wow. That's wild. That one, I was like, whoa. I mean, how many people on the planet are there?
Starting point is 00:05:30 I guess there's billions. It's still 5 million. It's the fastest-growing social media platform in history. And it's free marketing. The last show I did, one of the girls is obsessed with her TikTok, and she was the sole sole marketing arm it felt like for the show because she would just make all these TikToks and the theater would repost everything and it got a lot of engagement you know I'm on the platform I post pretty regularly I'm verified
Starting point is 00:05:55 there somehow I don't know why I really don't uh but with that said I do get on it and i went down the vortex rabbit hole last night um and got locked in i'm telling you it was like 40 minutes and i thought it was like four yep you know it was like whoa where i mean luckily the kids are in bed like it's at like nine i'm kind of halfway watching the nba game and like you know i got an i got, I got so many tips on cooking, golf. It's so positive. I love TikTok. My every interest is shining through. It's like golf, country music, some extreme guys fighting each other.
Starting point is 00:06:36 And I don't know what else. Nothing stereotypical about you at all. And then tips on everything. No dude stuff at all. I'm like, okay, great. I know mine's all like makeup stuff. And a lot of theater. A lot of theater and comedy.
Starting point is 00:06:48 But look, hey, too big to ignore. If you need help with it, give us a ring, because TikTok is blowing up. And go follow me, Ryan.Alford on TikTok. We got some Radcast news. We do. We had our 250th episode this week with JJ with Ace of Spades Agency. It's a big number. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Congratulations to you. 250. I never thought we'd make it. Yeah. I mean, this is on like my eighth episode. I think we did it. 250. There you go.
Starting point is 00:07:19 250. Yeah. Great episode. He's a cool guy. Jay is awesome. Yeah. I've been texting with him this week. I know we're going to be sending him some merchandise. When you come on our show, you get treats. Great episode. He's a cool guy. Jay is awesome. Yeah. I've been texting with him this week. I know we're going to be sending him some merchandise.
Starting point is 00:07:27 When you come on our show, you get treats. You do. We take care of you. We do. So, JJ was great. Great on personal branding. And it wasn't like the fluff of, oh, you just, you know, put stuff up and you look cool. Yeah, it wasn't just jargon.
Starting point is 00:07:39 No. Right. It was kind of the business aspect and- Practical. All the practical ways that you can grow your personal brand and leverage it for your business or yourself. So go check out that episode if you haven't. Episode 250 with JJ. Next week, Rob Luna.

Starting point is 00:08:17 Yes. Rob was cool. Um, he gave some fitness tips. If I recall, he has some over some overall life tips. It's like fitness, finance, and something. Freedom?
Starting point is 00:08:28 I don't know. That's what it should be. That's an alliteration. Yeah. See? There you go. I told you I'd get to it. Nailed it.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Rob was great. You need to check that out. That will launch on Tuesday the 14th. Tuesday the 14th. Rob Luna. 4.30 a.m. All the wealth tips, marketing tips, personal brand. He talked a little bit about his personal brand as well.

Starting point is 00:10:11 We've got quite a few. They're very food forward this week. Yeah, you like this first one? I was hungry when I did this. Yes. I was. I was. I was.
Starting point is 00:10:16 I was. I was. I was. I was. These holidays are making me thirsty. Hungry. These pretzels are making me thirsty. So today is National Egg Roll Day.
Starting point is 00:10:25 I like an egg roll. I like an egg roll. I love an egg roll. You know, I like Chinese food in general. Same. And egg rolls are delicious. One time. I don't think you could, you know how it soaks up soy sauce? Like you can like dump half a container in there and just keep soaking it up.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Oh yeah. It's like, I can barely taste it. It's like a sponge. You're going to get some more MSG in this this mofo i'm like there was one msg thanksgiving where we took extra we had i was in massachusetts with my family and we took our extra um thanksgiving leftovers and wrapped them in like egg roll wrap and fried them and had thanksgiving egg rolls they were phenomenal give me some moogoo guy, Pam. Here you go. I've become, my son Nash, who just turned six, or recently turned six,
Starting point is 00:11:14 that dude can eat, put down some beef lo mein, let me tell you. Dude can eat the large beef lo mein on his own and save nothing for daddy. And I've become kind of a beef lo mein fan as well. Pretty tasty, those noodles. Oh, man. I love lo mein. We like to make you hungry here on the Rat Test. So what's Saturday?
Starting point is 00:11:30 What are we celebrating on Saturday? Saturday, National Corn on the Cob Day. All-American. All-American Day. Corn on the Cob. I like some good corn on the cob. Same. With some Parmesan cheese and butter.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Oh, yeah. Isn't that like Mexican corn or something? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Street corn? Yep. You got it. Love it. National German Chocolate Cake Day is also tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Do you like German chocolate cake? Absolutely not. Really? I do not like coconut. Okay, interesting. That is a shame. This is good to know. I will not be celebrating that day ever. It's not my favorite.
Starting point is 00:11:58 On the day or off the day. You know what we can do with that? We don't have strong opinions here. My mom would always like, she's a great dessert cooker. And sometimes we'd have parties or whatever. And I'd go in and, you know, you're a kid. You're looking forward to, like, you know, dessert, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Damn German chocolate cake sitting on the, this is like, this is the biggest buzzkill ever. Like, I dealt with chicken and rice because I was going to get that damn cake and it's German chocolate. And there's coconut involved. Coconut. I dealt with chicken and rice because I was going to get that damn cake and it's German chocolate. And there's coconut involved. Coconut. I mean,
Starting point is 00:12:27 who wants that stuff in your teeth? I love coconut, but I want coconut cake. I don't want it in my chocolate cake. No, I don't want that stuff in my teeth.
Starting point is 00:12:34 See? That's what I'm saying. It has no flavor, really. And then it's like... See, a good coconut cream cake. I'm here for that. Just a weird texture. Read my lips.
Starting point is 00:12:43 No. I'm going to be celebrating Sunday, though. Sunday is World Gin Day. Do you like gin? I think I've told this on the Radcast before, but if you didn't listen, yes. I used to like gin quite a bit. I drank gallons of it at college. It was my drinking choice.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Bombay Sapphire Gin. That was what I started with. The blue bottle. It was so cool. I thought it was so cool in college. Oh, I got my blue Bombay Sapphire. Oh yeah. And I drank the shit out of it for three years in college
Starting point is 00:13:09 and I don't think I've had one since. Actually, I had one a couple years ago. I was like, it's pretty... I think I was ready. I'm ready now. It's been 24 years. I'm ready to have one again. Maybe go with Tangere this time. Tangere number 10 is my gin of joys. Yes. Tangere is good. And what else is that? my gin of joys. Yes, Tangeray is good.
Starting point is 00:13:26 And what else is that? Red Rose Day. Yeah, I put that in there for Nicole. You have to remind me. You're welcome. I'll be celebrating early the June 13th International Axe Throwing Day. Oh, are you going axe throwing? Nope.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Oh, okay. You're throwing at me? I'll be dodging axes if I don't get some roses around here. There you go. Have you gone axe throwing? I have.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I'm terrible. You know where I axed? It doesn't really count. Dave and Buster's has the plastic axe. Does not count. Does not count. With my kids.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Hey, you know, it's safe. It is true. You know, I'm not sure you want me with a throwing axe. A friend of mine went on a date. He took her axe throwing after they got drinks, and she was just like, I felt very weird that he intoxicated me and then gave me a sharp object.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Yeah, that is a little weird. It's a choice. It looks fun. I just haven't. We've talked about going, and it's like never worked out, but I think I'd be pretty good at it. Team building exercise. Yes, we should.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Plan it. Okay. National Kitchen Clutches of america day i have no fucking idea what that national kitchen klutzes klutzes like if you're klutzy in the kitchen i put this in there for me kitchen klutzes okay like you can't cook stranger are you kitchen klutz i nicholas no i don't think so. Oh, I am. I will have grand ideas to cook, and then I get home and I don't have half of the utensils. I'm actually a pretty damn good cook. That's a secret you don't know about me. I was a sous chef in college.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Were you really? Yes. And I actually know my way around the kitchen pretty well. What's the favorite thing to make? A dish called twin fillets. Oh. With a little
Starting point is 00:15:08 Parmesan cream sauce and a little prosciutto burned off with a little cognac. I would have never guessed. Oh, dude. I'm shaking not stirred. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:16 See? Yes. I am pretty handy in the kitchen. Made of many talents. Yes. I'm going to be celebrating early this weekend. National Bourbon Day.
Starting point is 00:15:28 There you go. See, bourbon's the one that I can't drink. Oh, yeah. You got to have a bourbon. Oh, I got wildly sick on it once and haven't been able to since. Yeah. I like the smell, though. Hallelujah.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Flag Day. Flag Day. And it's the 246th birthday of the u.s army which is pretty fantastic okay yeah that's cool we've had all these military holidays here recently indeed i guess it's the summer it is the season it is yeah it is it is and with that we have a special sweet treat for our our listeners as well we do yes and i'm I'm excited about this because here's the deal. It's become a very non-personal corporate environment and with people. We have very,
Starting point is 00:16:14 we have digital experiences and all this, but gifting still works for driving influence. And you know what people like to get? Stuff that you eat. And you know what I like to get stuff that you eat and you know what i like i like grove cookie company they sent us some samples a few months ago to die for let's just say i don't know how even a sweets guy i may or may not have taken my unfair share there was like six cookies and i think i had three of them oh my goodness and then they did
Starting point is 00:16:43 send an extra pack after that. I just said, dude, these are delicious. Phenomenal. I was like, so good. Grove Cookie Company. You can order them. They ship nationwide. They are woman.
Starting point is 00:16:56 They are owned by a woman and a veteran. Which is amazing. You're supporting. I mean, look, how can you not want to support that? Women owned, veteran owned, all American. And delicious. I'm telling you people, I am not a huge dessert person and i was hiding cookies at my desk he knows what he's doing he was a sous chef i was i was a sous chef for about eight months but it was long enough to learn all the tricks of the trade but you know what i didn't learn to make is cookies
Starting point is 00:17:19 like this otherwise i would have started this fresh homemade taste shipped nationwide and i can vouch the fact that they actually taste it. I was skeptical. I was like, are these going to taste freshly made? They got shipped here. No, they tasted about like they had been made 10 minutes earlier. They weren't warm,
Starting point is 00:17:38 but I'll tell you what they were. They were gone. There you go. Grovecookiecompany.com. get on there and order you can set a custom note with your logo you this is how you get relationships now it's not about cold emails it's not about texting people that don't know you it's about sending them some cookies it's affordable and it leaves an impression go use radcast 15 you'll get 15% off your first order grovecookiecompany.com this is how you build relationships people
Starting point is 00:18:10 and this is how you make up with anyone that's mad at you send them some cookies send them to your enemies nationwide you don't have to be or worry about it local you can get fresh cookies sent nationwide with grovecookiecompany.com tell them Radcast sent you
Starting point is 00:18:24 Radcast 15. And you'll thank us later. Yeah. And with that. Trends in the metaverse. Hard stop. Hard cut. We love it. Right into it. Here we we go what you got for me on south korea
Starting point is 00:18:48 so south korea is recruiting companies for metaverse content creation project we talked about this a little bit last week with south korea being on board with the metaverse and according to a report in the korean language publication the goal of the project is to engender trust in the metaverse across the country. Four companies will be selected to participate in the project, and each one will receive approximately $160,000. Does it have to be a South Korean company? Can we get in on that? I wish, right? Did you apply for it? No, it's only in South Korea. I did try, though. We are literally top 60 podcasts in South Korea. Oh, we love our South Korean listeners.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yes, if you're listening, get us on that list. We can create some metaverse content. We would love to do that. The director of software policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT said, the project is being promoted as part of the metaverse new industry leading strategy. We will work hard to lay the groundwork for Korea
Starting point is 00:19:43 to leap forward as a leading nation in the Metaverse by providing content that can be enjoyed by various age groups and support for creative activities of creators. Yeah. This is fascinating. It is fascinating. I'm going to I think we're going to continue to follow where this goes. I kind of want to see where this from from the original talk last week. And it won't be every week updates. But like, let's see where this all goes. I have my want to see where this from, from the original talk last week, and it probably won't be every week updates, but like,
Starting point is 00:20:06 let's see where this all goes. I have my, my eye on it. Yeah, totally. I'm, I'm hoping for the Olympics in the metaverse so that maybe I can actually, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:16 you can be a sous chef in the metaverse. I can throw a javelin at least 700 yards in the metaverse. You know what I'm saying? Dave and Busters. Yes. Oh yeah. That's what I'm saying? Dave and Busters? Yes. Oh, yeah. That's what I'm talking about. I mean, look,
Starting point is 00:20:29 I had this discussion with Tom Roach, who's going to be joining. Yes. We recorded yesterday. Yes. We talked about the metaverse and it's gaming.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I mean, it's a game. Yeah, it is. You know? It is. It's like, that's where it started, but that's kind of still what it is. You're playing a game. And it feels that fringy. Yeah. Yeah. So is you know it is it's like that's where it started but that's kind of still what it is you're playing a game yeah yeah so yeah absolutely let's let's simplify around here so this we talked about this uh a little bit a couple months ago we talked about it i i just
Starting point is 00:20:57 said it wasn't a surprise it was coming theft fraud and lawsuits the world's biggest nft marketplace no kidding open c one of the highest profile crypto startups Lawsuits at the world's biggest NFT marketplace. No, you're kidding. OpenSea, one of the highest profile crypto startups, is facing, not faking, a backlash over stolen and plagiarized NFTs. They got in my closet and they took those NFTs. I knew they were. I mean, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:21:22 They got in your mobile closet. Can you imagine losing that much money, no i can't um the company's clashes with users illustrate some of the central tensions of web 3 a utopian vision of a more democratic internet controlled by regular people rather than tech giants i mean that's what i'm saying everybody wants it open and free but there's no regulation at all. Right. You're going to have bad players that ruin it for everyone. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:21:48 It's anarchist. So, yeah. Not surprised. You've got, you know, all this hiding behind, you know, avatars and everything else. You have no personal identification. I think that he was trying to sell one for like a million dollars and he was only given what, 300 grand? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:09 And they couldn't do anything about it. There's a reason why we don't have the wild, wild west anymore. Right, right. You know? I mean, and look, I'm all for low government involvement. I don't like lots of government involvement, but there needs to be some involvement. Yeah, I just believe there are people smarter than I am. Otherwise, because it's like the wild, wild west, you know?
Starting point is 00:22:30 Yeah, for as much of an advancement as this is, there's still a lot of evolution that has to take place. We need the boys in blue to get in the metaverse, you know? We need something. Don't defund the police. We need some laws. You need to fund the police in the metaverse. Run that campaign, Nick. Fund't defund the police. We need some laws. You need to fund the police in the metaverse. Run that campaign, Nick. Fund them.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Fund them hard in the metaverse. Yes. Yeah. This is right up your alley here. Per usual. Prada plans monthly product NFT drops. Feeding into the growing metaverse hype among brands, Prada is releasing a time capsule NFT collection,
Starting point is 00:23:03 which features gender-neutral physical products and gifted non-fungible tokens, NFTs. The company announced in a Monday press release they're also launching Prada Cryptid, which is a community server, and it's kind of like the Gucci town that we talked about last
Starting point is 00:23:20 week, where you can just kind of get together and trade your Pradas. Yep. I like i like it yeah it's cool a lot like paxton's doing it gamestop is doing it um i like as long as you got the online offline connection right you know like you you're connecting the experiences you're creating loyalty you're doing things you know you're playing into the trend but you're creating brand engagement online and offline. Because the reality is for the short term, however short or long that is, people smarter than me will determine that, you still got to sell a lot of physical goods. Yes. And it makes sense to start building that connection online through these things.
Starting point is 00:24:01 But if you can build loyalty through it for both, wherever this goes, so you have that connection. If this becomes everything people think it will be in the next 10 years, and I think we're, again, it's back to that gaming. It's going to be a place we spend time. I believe that. I think no different than me talking about the the vortex with tiktok for 40 minutes last i could see whenever the technology catches up to you know universal's place right you know maybe spending 30 or 40 minutes doing it like a game or an
Starting point is 00:24:38 experience or something so i can see that coming uh and then like anything else you'll have people that spend too much time there. You know? Yep. Just like TikTok and Instagram and Facebook. And you'll have people who make billions being involved.
Starting point is 00:24:51 And Call of Duty. Yeah. You know? Yeah. There's a lot of people that all they do is play video games. And they make money with Twitch.
Starting point is 00:24:57 All they do is spend time in the metaverse. Yeah. Yeah. It's true. But this is cool. I like it. Yeah. Wonderful pist the i like it yeah wonderful pistachios i love some pistachios i love pistachios nicole's gotten on this binge here recently we've been
Starting point is 00:25:13 snacking on pistachios like on the front porch at our house and uh i'm enjoying it quite a bit do you buy them shelled or unshelled shelled yeah shelled, not even popped open. We use our teeth to get in there. Hardcore. We have pistachio crackers. The nutcracker doesn't work. You gotta get a pistachio cracker. No.
Starting point is 00:25:36 You know how long it'd take to eat a bag of pistachios if you had to crack, like, really, totally crack it? Right, right, right. But you gotta, I don't think they taste as good as...
Starting point is 00:25:43 I agree. They gotta be in the shell still. Nope, I totally agree with you. Wonderful Pistachios deploys Baby Groot for plant-based protein push. Wonderful Pistachios and Marvel Studios
Starting point is 00:25:56 have teamed on a campaign that deploys Baby Groot to promote the Snack Nut brand as a source of plant-based protein per a news release. I like it. I like it. I love it. Disney just owns everything.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I can't say that I'm brand loyal on my pistachios to date, but maybe I will be. But I do find that. I will find that this is planting a mineral memory in my brand. So I probably will buy wonderful pistachios next time. I don't even think about like, you know, I just buy the bag. Yeah. And I guess that's the point of this is you'll buy the one with Groot on it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:30 Well, that's what they need. I mean, this is the type of product I think that needs some type of extension like that. It's got to attach itself to something. Totally. Some borrowed interest. Absolutely. This makes sense to me. Sometimes people have borrowed interest that don't necessarily need it.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Right. Right. Right. to me. Sometimes people have borrowed and just don't necessarily need it. But pistachio probably does by just the nature of my own focus group of one. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Based on your research. My research said I've never thought about the brand of pistachio that I bought, but maybe I should. Maybe do a taste test here on the Radcast. There you go. Speaking of taste tests, I think that we should do vodka per our next article. Absolute mixes cocktail personalities
Starting point is 00:27:08 in their biggest campaign in over a decade. Hallelujah. After several years of regional marketing, Absolute returns today with what the brand says is its biggest global campaign in over a decade. Have you seen this ad? I have not. It's a really, really cool commercial. The world of Absolute Cocktails, born to mix,
Starting point is 00:27:24 sees the brand anthropomorphizing classic vodka cocktails as human characters with different backgrounds and different characters so in the commercial each cocktail is a person and they're like they're not in you know cocktail costumes but they look vaguely like what that drink would be so you have a cosmopolitan and a Bloody Mary. And it's, you know, to show that everything, everybody mixes. Born to mix. Born to mix.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I'm just going to give you, for getting through. Anthropomorphizing. There's no way. She's a word nerd. She's a word nerd. I would not have gotten through that. I would have like struck through that.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Oh, I've used that word in papers before. Really? Yeah. Do you know what it means? Sort of. Humanizing. Yeah. Anthropology is usually instead of humans or something.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I was kind of working my way there. To anthropomorphize the cocktails. I don't pretend to be the smartest guy ever, but I can piece it together. Oh, I'm not smart. I'm just a nerd. But yeah, so they anthropomorphized the cocktails as characters. Nick's always anthropomorphizing stuff. He's got a little bit of a problem with it, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:28:34 Personifying is another one, another option, a synonym, if you will. But yeah, it's a cool commercial. It's definitely worth a watch. I just like born to mix. Right? Better when they come together.
Starting point is 00:28:46 And remember, look, I'm going to get nostalgic on you here. And today's podcast brought to you by Absolute Vodka. Not really. Someday. Just kidding. But Absolute is, I remember growing up, it was like the first liquor that I remember marketed. Because they had the Absolute bottles and it was like the first liquor that i remember marketed because they had the absolute bottles and like it was cool like the absolute t-shirts and it was like they started getting the different flavors and stuff yeah but i don't know what it was or something cool about absolute
Starting point is 00:29:13 it was like i don't know yeah somewhat i don't know exclusive or something there was all kinds of other branding and marketing when i like i remember this as a teenager off is the first one that i remember but i guess that would probably make sense given our age difference. Yeah, age difference. What are you saying? I'm old. But no, so this is cool. This is fun.
Starting point is 00:29:35 The world of absolute cocktails. Here for it. Yeah. We have a little TikTok news. We do. And speaking of nostalgia, this was like right high school they came out or a little before my high school time and we talked a little bit about remember the naked people at the front door at abercumbry and fitch is using tiktok to reintroduce the brand and reflect back
Starting point is 00:29:59 who our consumer is today because it it's obviously changing. Yes. It used to be sex cells. Abs. Abs. No face. And bikinis or whatever. Torsos. I'm very heterosexual.
Starting point is 00:30:16 But for whatever reason. Are you? I remember. Yes. Quite. Swing one way over here. That's just me. But I just uniquely remember always the half-naked dudes at the front door or whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Oh, yeah. I remember on Black Friday. It was like a big thing. I remember that more than I actually remember the girls. Like, because I just don't remember. Yeah, I don't remember them being women outside. I think that was kind of the iconic stuff. But it was kind of aspirational. I was like, I don't look like women outside. I think that was kind of the iconic stuff, but it was kind of aspirational.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I was like, I don't look like that dude. Right. I had friends who would go in and be scouted and be asked to be front door models, and they made no money, but they had the cred. So they're using TikTok to reintroduce the brands to millennials and Gen Z. Good place to be, folks.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Yep. The 130-year-old brand is running a paid and organic ad strategy on the platform, as well as working with TikTok creators to do so. The reintroduction follows Abercrombie & Fitch's overall brand transformation in recent years as it slowly shed its
Starting point is 00:31:17 reputation of preppy exclusivity for early aughts. They're trying to become more inclusive. Yeah, I think it's great. Which makes sense in today's environment. And I think it's with the times. And even style-wise, their designs are a lot better.
Starting point is 00:31:35 You know, it's not just a t-shirt that says Abercrombie & Fitch. It's a little bit more trendy, a little more mainstream. I just like the fact that they're using the exact platform that they should be using, working with influencers, doing the right content, and so they're checking all the boxes for what brands should be thinking about. They are. And it does give me nostalgia, wherever they're going with it. Totally, totally.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I mean, I remember having the jeans that were just way overpriced or whatever, but they were some damn good-fitting jeans, you know? They were good jeans. They were. Hollister was, too. But Hollister's kind of falling off the face of the earth. Yeah, I haven't seen Hollister. And they weren't quite as, I didn't feel like quite as exclusive as Abercrombie.
Starting point is 00:32:18 They weren't. I thought they were a little more inclusive, surfer-ish. Right, that was West Coast. Abercrombie was East Coast, based on what I remember. Hollister kind of came around after I was out of college. I was like, oh, I'm not wearing Hollister. It's too young for me. I'm going to wear my golf shirt and button-ups.
