Starting point is 00:00:00 Everyone else is joining the Roblox bandwagon, so it makes sense, I guess. It's like grassroots music production, which is kind of fun. What I want to know is, when does anyone not 12 years old or under play Roblox? So now the same metaverse of things, everything's meta-connected. This, to me, is essentially creating record of ownership on blockchain. That's all it is. Smart contracts. Gotcha. You're listening to the Radcast.
Starting point is 00:00:33 If it's radical, we cover it. Here's your host, Ryan Alford. Hey, guys. What's up? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. It's a weekly marketing and advertising news on Friday, May 6th, 2022. What's up, Christina? Not much. How are you?
Starting point is 00:00:54 I'm good. Hanging in there. Did you have a good Cinco de Mayo? Oh, yeah. Lots of tequila. Lots of shots. Chips. Some body shots. With my wife, of course. Oh, sure. Of course. Didn't need to know that. But happy for you.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Happy for you. Love that for you. Yes. How about yourself? Lots of queso. There you go. I had a show that night, so I played low on the alcohol. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Yes. It's been a good week. Yeah. So far. Yeah. Show's going well. Very. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:25 We close this weekend, which is bittersweet okay it's been a good run all right yeah been is good or better or you know
Starting point is 00:01:31 overall impressions like you know what you expected it absolutely exceeded my expectations from like beginning to end
Starting point is 00:01:37 it's been a great process I think this show is really really solid I'm very proud of it nice yeah that's cool it's nice when hard work pays off.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Yeah. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't. It always pays off. You get a lesson from it. I was going to say that's such a dad thing to say. I'm team work smart, not hard. It's always nice when the
Starting point is 00:02:02 hard work pays off. It's been a good week. You know, this was on the news radar. It wasn't important enough to make an article, but if anyone, if you listen to podcasts on Facebook, they're shutting down Facebook podcasts on June 3rd. And I can say this, Riley, that, you know, it was our least popular platform.
Starting point is 00:02:29 They never obviously pushed it in the algorithm because even though our show is top 100 consistently in marketing, it never got any traction on Facebook. Right. And so they obviously didn't push it in the algorithm or try to make a real gung-ho. Yeah, I can't imagine they made anything off of offering that. No, I don't think they got any audience because I don't think they prioritized it.
Starting point is 00:02:51 It was kind of a me-too thing. Right. So anyone out there, if you have a podcast or you're thinking about launching one on Facebook, it shuts down on June 3rd. Now you can't. Or you have a month to do it. Yeah. Build quickly. Exactly. I think actually it's shutting down faster than that for when you can't or you have a month to do it yeah yeah build quickly exactly i think actually
Starting point is 00:03:06 you could see it's shutting down faster than that for when you can actually upload uh i got an email today that said you know we're no longer supporting it and it's gonna be coming off the platform i'm like okay who cares um i thought this was cool too so Frenchi, who was on the show a few weeks ago from Camera IQ, caught this article right before we came on the show. TikTok is giving brands a way to create augmented reality effects for its social video app with the addition of Camera IQ software tools. Wow. To prepare for release day, the company collaborated with, including Warner Brothers and Estee Lauder, to create branded AR content on the social video app. This coming from Allison.
Starting point is 00:03:51 This is just the very beginning of AR on TikTok and still the very early stages for AR overall as a vehicle to drive brand engagement. So old Allison working directly with TikTok. Oh, you know, started here, folks. Just kidding. All these connections. Yeah. So old Allison working director of TikTok. Oh, you know, started here, folks. Just kidding. All these connections. Yeah. So congratulations, Allison. TikTok it again on more and more AR. I saw one of the things that said it organically got like four million views. Wow. One of the posts for a million organically, that's insane. Yeah. No ads, no nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:26 So, uh, that's cool. Congrats, Alison. I hope that's a profitable venture with Tik TOK. Hopefully you're gouging them. There you go.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Exactly. Uh, regularly the, uh, but it's cool. Um, it's been a good week. Uh,
Starting point is 00:04:40 if you listened Tuesday, Torek, Torek, excuse me. I always want to say toric it's toric toric el musa joined the show from flipper flop flipping 101 toric is a cool guy he really let his hair down and uh kind of opened up of what it took to be successful and even gave some dad stories of you know his dad not picking him to be on the team. He was like, dude.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Yeah, he was candid about his struggles. And, you know, while he's had a lot of success recently, it wasn't always that way. So if you want to learn about flipping, you get some good tips on flipping and real estate and kind of the path to success. Good stuff. It was great. Next week, Mark Evans, DM, the deal maker.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Drum roll, please. Drum roll. Mark was cool. I will say that. It's kind of fun to go the deal maker. You know, I need something like that. Ryan offered the, I don't know, the ad maker. Yeah, we got to get you a title.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Like, what is it? The show The Profit? We got to find something for you. I know. I need something. Profit sounds good. sounds good you know like i don't know we'll workshop it we'll workshop it yeah workshop it but mark evans dm the deal maker mark was cool been texting a lot with mark actually um really nice guy really approachable i call i would use the word available like for someone that's busy running a lot of businesses and doing things,
Starting point is 00:06:05 he makes himself available, which is a characteristic that I highly appreciate. Because we're all busy. And no one is present because you're always connected to a phone or a watch or something. So that's a nice way to describe someone. Yeah. So Mark was cool, talks about all his businesses. He gave a lot of great insights for how to grow business, how to think about business.
Starting point is 00:06:27 So the dealmaker himself, Mark Evans, joined next week. You'll see it everywhere you listen or watch podcasts on Tuesday. What's that? No Facebook. Well, it might be on Facebook. Maybe one of the last episodes. The last one on Facebook. Oh.
Starting point is 00:06:42 So everyone that wasn't going there anyway, please don't go there. We're creating demand for Facebook that was obviously not there. Right. But yeah, so I've enjoyed getting to know Mark. And he is really cool and has a great Instagram profile. So you can follow him, Mark Evans DM on Instagram. Get some insights before the show next week. I am wearing the newest brand new one.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yeah. So the rad cast does have a new hat from branded bills. Our official merchandise sponsor got the textured. I let our little colors in there. I've got the other hats next to me here, which you see here. So I've got both hats now, you know know a little neutral and color neutral and color and a little textured this rogue patch customized by they do custom hats yes any logo they can customize so you get
Starting point is 00:07:38 custom orders they've got the new streetwear collection they've got the new american flag elite collection radcast 20 is your promo code. Go get them some love. Shoot me a DM. I might give you a hat. I've had a couple people that have DM'd me and taken advantage of that. Shoot me a DM. I'll mail you a hat if you send me something funny.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Send me a joke. There you go. Then we'll read the jokes on the podcast. Exactly. 20% off all orders using Radcast 20. Go to Radcast.com, click on sponsors, click on branded bills, and get immediate discount right in the cart. So Radcast 20, share it with friends, family. Great, great streetwear, shirts, hoodies, hats is what they're known for. Hey, it's branded bills.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Bills. You get it's branded bills. Bills. You get it. Right. Branded bills. Brandedbills.com. New news on a new sponsor maybe as early as next week. So hold your breath for that one.
Starting point is 00:08:36 On pins and needles. Yes. We do have a few social holidays. Yes. Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo. Indeed. And today, interestingly enough, after Cinco de Mayo and today interestingly enough after Cinco de Mayo
Starting point is 00:08:47 International No Diet Day hell no I'm not dieting even if you're feeling all bloated from the salt yesterday but it allows you to continue queso, chips and salsa I'm going straight into the weekend with no diet burgers gotta love a burger
Starting point is 00:09:03 and then it's national space day like outer space or like give me space i think it's yeah a little bit of both take it take it any way you want take up more space yes yeah i know definitely gonna take up more space um creating space the uh i think it's meant to be like uh me up outer space beam me up Scotty beam me up Scotty right up there into space and Jeff Bezos will blast us up in space with his rocket
Starting point is 00:09:34 in real space not just metaspace yes so National Space Day go buy a NASA shirt make your own brand and then buy it from Brandedville. Yes. Old Navy has a bunch of NASA space shirts.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yes. May 7th, Saturday, National Fitness Day. There you go. No diet for a day and you're going right into working it off. It's good, though. It's good. Yeah. I'm team prioritize fitness and eat what you want.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Yeah. I'm going to do some sit-ups or something on the boat at the lake. There you go. Or not. Some planks. Yeah. Walk the plank. Planks on the plank.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Hey. Hey. She's a comedian. Yes. Not a very good one. She's got some good lines. So National Fitness Day on Saturday. Get your fitness in.
Starting point is 00:10:22 And May 8th, Mother's Day. Always a good one. Sunday. Don't miss that. We're not going to miss around. Yep. Moms. I've got a mom.
Starting point is 00:10:30 My wife's a mom. We've all got moms. Yeah. We've all got moms. So celebrate mom. We're not going to cloud that with any fun other than just Mother's Day. Yeah. Do yourself a favor.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Send mom a card. If you're listening to this on Friday, you still have time. Yes, you do. Yep. And it takes a little. Just say a favor. Send mom a card. If you're listening to this on Friday, you still have time. Yes, you do. Yep. And it takes a little. Just say thank you. Yes. And after all of this, no diet day, National Fitness Day, Mother's Day, it's grab yourself a Moscato day.
Starting point is 00:10:57 I will happily celebrate that. My wife, who's a mom, loves Moscato. So maybe I combine Sunday and Monday into two. There you go. Major brownie points there. Yeah. Nicely done. Are you a Moscato drinker?
Starting point is 00:11:12 I am. So if I bring Moscato into the office on Monday, is that cool? Yeah, sure. Why not? Excellent. Excellent. There we have it. There's your social holidays of dote.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Lots of stuff in the metaverse and NFTs. It just grows and grows and grows. Spotify just entered the metaverse with the official launch on Roblox. Happy for them. The company says it's become the first music streaming brand to have a presence on Roblox with the launch marking its entrance into the sector. Spotify's presence on Roblox is called Spotify Island. Oh, it's fun.
Starting point is 00:11:48 The company explains that through this interactive world, it plans on creating a place where fans can link up and create new sounds together, hang out in digital spaces, and gain access to exclusive virtual merch. Two words I enjoy. Spotify says that it's creating an easy opportunity for artists to connect with fans and a partner with spotify on the creation of in-game virtual merchandise so i mean everyone else is joining the roblox bandwagon so it makes sense i guess it's like
Starting point is 00:12:21 grassroots music production which is kind of fun. When I hear Spotify Island, I don't know why my brain here went. There was an old TV show called Fantasy Island. It wasn't dirty. It was funny. It was like this remote deserted island that
Starting point is 00:12:39 a bunch of rich people went to. It was the most cliche thing ever. I don't know why my brain went there. I mean, I want to call it Spotify-land and like just combine the words, but that's how my brain works. Hey, I like it. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Spotify-land. Spotify-land. Can you get in for that, Nick? I think so. Yeah. Are you going to get on Roblox and go to Spotify-land? Definitely.
Starting point is 00:13:02 See, it's the little Dwine eye. You're going to build yourself some merch? There you go. Yeah. See, it's the Y and I. You're going to build yourself some merch? There you go. Yeah. Hey, it's a good spot. Look, Spotify is still relevant with the youth. Everybody's on. What I want to know is when does anyone not 12 years old or under play Roblox?
Starting point is 00:13:21 Like, you know, so. Speaking of someone older than 12 years. Yeah. I can say I've never played Roblox like i you know so speaking as someone i guess it's just purely 12 years yeah like you know it's like i i don't know any adults to play roblox other than me that get on it with my kids because i'm researching these brands right but i mean that's the thing right it probably is there's a certain age demographic of children that are on it and then you also target their parents because their parents are going to at least be familiar with the right jargon yeah i don't know so i but spotify spotify island spotify that's what i would have called it which is why i'm on this side of things and Spotifyland. Spotifyland. Yes.
Starting point is 00:14:06 In-game virtual merchandise. Thrilling. I know. I do want to make a song, though. Go in there and make a jingle. There you go. Create new sounds. You know?
Starting point is 00:14:18 We don't have enough of them. DJ Spotifyland. Ryan the DJ, that can be your thing. That is. I did have the name DJ Hardball back in the day. I had a friend that called me that, and I have no idea why. I can't remember why. Bring it back.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Yeah. Petition to bring it back. Siri A brings live football slash soccer to the metaverse. Yay. It's football in the world. It's soccer in the U.S. I had to put a slash in there to remind like to remind myself because at first i thought i was thinking nfl football but no actual football italian top flight football league siri a has become the first league in the sport to broadcast a match on the metaverse last weekend it was made available to viewers in the middle east
Starting point is 00:15:01 and north africa in the Nemesis Metaverse. To power the broadcast, they worked with telco partner Tim and Blockchain to create a dedicated Siri A room on the Nemesis. There you go. I mean, it sounds so threatening. It does. I know. I was like, is this like the platform or an enemy or what?
Starting point is 00:15:22 It's my Nemesis. I thought it was. Yeah, I thought he was a partner. He's really a Nemesis. Alis. I thought it was. Yeah, I thought he was a partner. He's really a nemesis. Alas. Yeah. Misled. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:29 But okay. Feels very European. I mean, this definitely feels like something that wouldn't happen over in Europe first. So you have to go into the metaverse, which is, you know, virtual world to watch the real soccer game on the nemesis. Adding some steps there for me with that one. Why don't I just flip on the TV? Feels a little clunky. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I don't know. All about status. Yeah. Trends. Trends. PR. The metaverse of things. This startup is using microchips to turn physical objects into NFTs.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Imagine a world in which your most prized physical possessions, a Prada purse, a pair of Nike dunks, a Rolls Royce, could be indelibly marked as yours for theoretically the rest of eternity. So that in the year 3000, when future archaeologists unearth these historical artifacts, they will decode high-tech data that traces all the way back to your ownership. That's the promise of the blockchain for digital assets like NFTs.
Starting point is 00:16:35 But would it be like high-tech in, you know, hundreds of years when it's old tech? Sure. Don't overthink it, Christina. Don't over don't think it doesn't make sense to anyone noted yeah it's best it's best that you you don't overthink these things uh i'm not overthinking i'm just thinking about it in general americana technology is a new startup funded by the likes of reddit founder rapper future and open c wants to bring those possibilities to real world assets it's much like the revolution brought by the internet of things but in web 3 that's evolved into the metaverse
Starting point is 00:17:12 the metaverse of things instead of the internet of things and the internet of things was that's just when everything becomes connected like your doorbell car, everything's internet connected. So now they're saying the metaverse of things. Everything's meta connected. So this to me is essentially creating record of ownership on the blockchain. That's all this is. Smart contracts. Gotcha. And they're making it really complicated here
Starting point is 00:17:46 with a PR that's written very complexly. When it essentially, so you put a microchip on that physical thing, it creates record that you own it. So it's sort of like, again, a digital certificate of ownership. Right, a contract. That's how I would have phrased all this.
Starting point is 00:18:04 And if you owned the product, I would have called it. Right, right. But okay, digital certificate of ownership right contract that's how i would have uh phrased all this and probably if you own the product i would call it you know right right okay did digital certificate of ownership okay you understand you would understand what that meant right yeah versus everything else i said before sure which is it makes sense it's just it's the idea that you would need it to that you're going to find it you know in x amount of years yeah that kind of confused the whole thing it just said i wanted to sell it and make sure of years. Yeah, that kind of confused the whole thing. You just said I wanted to sell it and make sure that it wasn't a fake or that I was actually the rightful owner of it. Sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:18:32 There you go. I mean, you put it on the house too. Yeah, there you go. Put a chip on the home, stop all the bullshit title work that happens when you sell a home and you get a – See, and that's where it makes sense practically. Yeah. Now I'm on board.
Starting point is 00:18:46 It doesn't have to be the metaverse thing. Just call it the digital ownership of things. Right. Digital tracking of ownership. Yeah. There you go. Digital filing. But you don't get press or information unless you make it super complex and super hard to understand.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Metapizza NFT. Pizza pop-ups in the metaverse. There are only a few things that are universally common among people. We all breathe. Speak for yourself. We all feel. We all love pizza. We can agree with that.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I love some pizza. It's the same. Metapizza NFTs delivers a hot and ready collection of your favorite slices dressed up in the hottest pieces. Plus, being a holder also means that you score some freeza. I like that. Metapizza's DAO remains focus is to launch a series. Main focus is to launch a series of pizza parlors
Starting point is 00:19:41 where holders can come in to enjoy eating for free alongside their fellow metaverse enthusiasts. With these pop-ups taking only a fraction of the money and time it would take to run a full-time physical store, this allows flexibility in location and the ability to reach a large portion of holders, meaning that everyone gets their slice. That's kind of catchy. 100% controlled, unkept,
Starting point is 00:20:05 and expanded by the community. Upkept, excuse me. I really changed the whole article. Unkept, upkept, and expanded
Starting point is 00:20:15 by the community. 100% of all profits from community-driven stores and pop-ups will be reinvested back into furthering the project. So pizza pop-ups
Starting point is 00:20:24 in the metaverse. Pretty straightforward. Yeah. I can get behind this one. I want some meta pizza. What's your pizza topping of choice? I mean, banana peppers. Solid.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I will say this. Sidewall has these little sweet slash hot peppers that starts with a P. Pepperoncini peppers? Is it those? No. Okay. As long as you know that. Read my lips.
Starting point is 00:20:55 No. It's not that. It's like pepino. There's something. Sure. It's not those. Okay. I believe you.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Those are kind of like a spinoff of banana peppers or whatever. But these are like red. Yeah. And they're tasty. So I'm doing you no favors by not naming them. You just get to wonder. I'll Google it. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:21:15 And go visit our official non-sponsor, the Sidewall Pizza here in the upstate. My favorite. In other news, Gatorade files a trademark to enter the metaverse that's fun the metaverse trademarks just keep coming this time sports drink powerhouse gatorade is getting in on the action according to trademark attorney the company filed a claim from the uspto on april 27th to create virtual beverage products, among other digital items. Gatorade is just the latest large corporation to launch a metaverse campaign.
Starting point is 00:21:52 And this could be the start of a virtual battle for sports, drinks, supremacy in the metaverse. Stakes are high. Yeah. What's the other? Powerade. Powerade and Gatorade battling in the metaverse let's get them on roadblocks and get them smacking on each other up there would vitamin water be involved
Starting point is 00:22:10 who knows read my lips uh no just the two there's they're a small player i don't know i don't know if that's really a sports drink if it's more like a alternative beverage. Sure. You know, you can't drink it, I guess. It's no different than anything else. Yeah, than the pizza or the Wendy's or Pepsi. Here's how I could see this playing out, even though I think it's a little ridiculous. Your avatar is getting tired. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:45 And you're running out of juice, so to speak. And you've got to drink Gatorade to kind of power up. Those electrolytes. Yeah. To stay going. I mean, if they need shoes, maybe they need sustenance. Yeah. Metastances.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Metastance. Metastance. Metastance. I don't know. You know, everybody's getting in on the metaverse. Got to advertise somehow. Yeah. Stay relevant.
Starting point is 00:23:12 I think it's relevancy, advertising, and PR still. I need to see this in action. That's how I feel with all of it. Other than just being the brand. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I need to Powerade up.
Starting point is 00:23:23 I just want to see like Powerade and Gatorade get into like, you know, the sports drink wars like Pepsi and Coke. Pepsi and Coke, yeah. You know? They'll just punch each other in the metaverse. Call of Duty. Sports drink battle version. You have to be a sports drink. In this corner, we have Gatorade led by Michael Jordan.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Over here, we have Powerade led by... Shaquille have Powerade led by Shaquille O'Neal. Shaquille O'Neal, I guess. Whoever was on Powerade, you know. Some tennis player probably or something. Probably. We have Rafael Nadal. There you go. There you go.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Rafa versus Jordan. Supremacy for sports strengths in the metaverse. There we go. Hey, I just created something that might be more interesting than this article pixel canvas presents a customizable web 3 metaverse powered by pure web pixel canvas a pure web premier partner has previewed omnia the first of its kind customizable metaverse for enterprise launching in june it's a metaverse built on unreal engine that will give end users a stunning 3d experience which enable enabling creators and businesses to host metaverse
Starting point is 00:24:34 experiences at scale so no downward downloads or special equipment needed its genesis collections will include uniquely designed environments, mini-games, and in-world experiences from Pixel Canvas' library that will be readily available to members. So this is a way, you know, I thought this was interesting because it's a way for you to kind of, like, start building your own experiences within the metaverse. What I don't know is it still comes back to, like, there's, like, 27 of these metaverses. Right. Sandbox
Starting point is 00:25:09 Omnia, Pure Web Nemesis. Nemesis like I don't know how the intersection all these things is coming together. Yeah like for as trendy as it is I don't understand how this is streamlining anything it just kind of feels like it's splitting. Cause even when you had like gaming, you had Xbox.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Right. You had PlayStation. Okay. When it was really just like Sony versus Nintendo. And it was like, okay, I'm going to choose one. I'm going to go to town on one.
Starting point is 00:25:32 And some games that are crossing over and all that. Right. But you had two platforms. Right. Now there's 37 of these platforms and 26 executions. And it's great. I get where they're going and no one's like denying like some of the stuff is the future but right there's gonna have to be some big players i know meta facebook changed
Starting point is 00:25:54 their name it's probably gonna be in the middle midst of all this but how all this stuff works together the longevity is definitely because who i mean interesting to me you know we're talking about this because we're marketing and advertising news and this stuff crosses over into it. Certainly, we're informing our listeners, but the mainstream is not aware of all this. How all this comes
Starting point is 00:26:15 together is anyone's guess. Proceed with caution. Be aware. If you do want to get some good PR, just put Metaverse, NFT attached to it or Web3. Yep. Instead of anything that might make it easier to understand. That's the traffic button.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I do like this. Snapchat partnering with Cameo to streamline brand creator ad deals. Snapchat unveiled a partnership with the video shout-out app Cameo as part of its presentation at the Interactive Advertising Bureau's Newsfronts Tuesday. The Snap and Cameo program was developed with Cameo for Business and gives Snapchat advertisers access to the platform's talent pool of over 45,000 personalities who create custom short video ads to run on the social media app. Services expect to become widely available. I do think cameo is pretty cool have you seen you ever played with that have you ever ordered one no i haven't but i'm just familiar with it you know uh i i'll never forget i think the first one i saw god rest his soul just just passed away, was Gilbert Godfrey. I like doing one. He was on there.
Starting point is 00:27:26 He just passed away a few weeks ago. There are a lot of actors from the West Wing who do them, and I've thought about getting one for a friend of mine. Yeah, like happy birthday or something. Yeah, yeah. I think it's fun. I do, too. I do, too. I kind of wanted to use it for marketing purposes, like to promote something.
Starting point is 00:27:44 I think that's against their rules. I was going to say, I wonder if you could do that. I kind of wanted to use it for like marketing purposes, like, you know, to promote something. I think that's like against their rules. I was going to say, I wonder if you could do that. Yeah. If they didn't let you. I think you can do it. Like if you're, if you don't just call on out, like make the script like something that's just promoting it. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:56 But maybe just saying like the name or something. I don't know. Subtlety is key. Like radical. Right. Right. Yeah. We can worm it in there.
Starting point is 00:28:03 We can worm it in there. What's one of your favorite words? Radical. Oh, is. Yeah, we can warm it in there. What's one of your favorite words? Radical? Oh, is that so? There we go. Backdoor our way into this. But Cameo and Snapchat. I feel like Snapchat's fading a bit, but I do like Cameo,
Starting point is 00:28:17 so I like that they're bringing it and having it integrated. And that pairing makes sense to me. Yeah. So get on there and check out Snapchat and Cameos. Coming soon. Amazon is looking to lure brands with new streaming tech integrations. Made its appearance also at the news fronts. Showcased focus on three areas of its video business.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Ad-supported, live streaming, and the streaming rights to NFL Thursday, which is going to affect next season. Both Prime Video and Freeview Originals are beta testing a virtual product placement tool that can drop approved brands into programming on a plug-and-play basis after filming has wrapped. That's cool. That's going to be interesting. I want to see how that happens. Fix it in post. Virtual product placement.
Starting point is 00:29:07 So I guess you can like, like in this table right here, you can just like virtually drop a Coke on there. Right. Or if you had a soda on there, you could probably just put a label. That's kind of nice. Well, Nick kind of does that now.
Starting point is 00:29:18 You've got to add it in stuff sort of, right? Maybe not per se, but that's feasible, yeah definitely yeah so we can start adding in sponsors after the fact to the rad chat it's not easy though right that take that that's it can be a pain can't it depends on the software you know yeah like you could put like if you're watching the video like this was spaced right here we could put a logo yeah or something like right there like if we wanted like after, like, someone listening wanted to add a sponsor
Starting point is 00:29:47 and, you know, wanted us to go back and backtrace all our episodes. Take a lot of work and you'd pay a lot of money. But we could put your logo right here in theory, right? Right. It's no different. So that's cool. I like it. New tech iterations from Amazon.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Yeah. That's cool. I like it. New tech iterations from Amazon. I think we talked about this earlier, but officially Starbucks is launching NFTs this year, offering unique experiences and benefits. Air quotes. Would you like an NFT with your Starbucks latte? Coffee Giant this week announced its plan to enter the Web3 space with the launch of its own NFT collection later this year. They're going to have collectibles and exclusive experiences. So it's coming soon.
Starting point is 00:30:31 There you go. Virtual coffee with your coffee. More beverages. Exactly. Your avatar can be hopped up on caffeine just like you are. If I was going to be caffeinated in the metaverse, I might be more intrigued by it. Cool down with a Gatorade bath. A bath in the irish
Starting point is 00:30:46 spring yeah yeah exactly uh instagram is testing a tiktok like full screen feed yeah a new instagram test would make the app look even more like tiktok to TechCrunch, Instagram is experimenting with full-screen virtual home feeds. Upon opening the Instagram app, users immediately see vertical content meant to bring video more front and center. Cool. I get it. I mean, that's what happens when you open TikTok.
Starting point is 00:31:17 It's like, boom. Full screen. You know? I don't even think about this. Like, when I open Instagram, I don't even know if I would have noticed that this was a change but when you open instagram now you don't immediately get hit with video you get
Starting point is 00:31:31 hit with your feed there might be a video in it right when you click reels you've got the you've got the borders of the app like you're you know i remember back in the day when it had to like your pictures had to be square yes i get so annoyed with that so you know maybe i would have noticed it yeah i it makes sense yeah it's just i don't know it's a little i think it's like well i think it's interesting all these brands are copying each other as opposed to trying to find ways to set themselves apart. Yeah, to innovate. Yeah. How do you innovate? Right. You know what would be cool? Is maybe like instead of like one, it brought up multi-screen, like four screens, like four videos.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Like so your mind can really go crazy. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, constant stimulation. Really ADD. Right. Which one do I like best? And you can immediately touch the one you want to see.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Yeah. You know, it'd be kind of like a, I don't know, Tinder for Instagram videos. Like, which video do I like best? It would certainly help with analytics, yeah. Probably. Gamify it a little bit, guys. Like, innovation.
Starting point is 00:32:38 I'm just, I'm throwing shit out there. Yeah, so it's not quite as mindless. Yeah, like, don't just be to it. There's something there. Yeah. It could be, like, back to that Tinder left and right thing. Like, if you like it or don't just be to it. There's something there. Yeah. Yeah. It could be like back to that tender left and right thing. Like whether like if you like it or don't like it, like left or right the videos. How that would inform your algorithm. There you go.
Starting point is 00:32:53 That was free, folks. You know, it took me all of like 30 seconds. I actually like really like that because you could have like a celebrity on one side and then someone you actually know and decide, OK, who do I? And if you push up or down, it's a maybe, sometimes, always. Or later. Sometimes, always, maybes, never. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Copyright trademark, we're starting our own social media. That should be the app. Like, I sometimes want to see these videos. I always want to see these videos. I never fucking want to see that. And maybe. Ask me again later. Ask me in two months.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Right. There you go. Up, down, left, right, center. There you go. I mean, how hard is it to innovate, folks? There we go. We just innovated the entire video experience for reals. Call me, Instagram.
Starting point is 00:33:36 I'm going to trademark that. Slide into those DMs. Slide them into the DMs. So, TikTok, full screen. I think that's enough news for today. I would agree. I think we covered some stuff. Any parting words? No, full screen. I think that's enough news for today. I would agree. I think we covered some stuff. Any parting words?
Starting point is 00:33:49 No, not today. Have a great weekend, everybody. Yeah. Yeah. How about you? If you're out there, Mother's Day. Yes, do not forget Mother's Day. Don't forget Mom.
