One day they're denouncing it and the next they're embracing it. Well, Democratic Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse said You're all hypocrites. The silence from Republicans about Trumpie Laura Loomer's racist comments targeting Black women in politics hasn't gone unnoticed. One media outlet asked some Republicans about it, and let's say, I'm not surprised. The white Senatobia, Mississippi police chief has been fired for sending racist texts. Could his firing be a step in the right direction for justice for the 1-year-old black baby, Kohen Wiley, who was killed in June? This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
It wins on September 2nd, 20206.
Coming up of Roland Martin Unfiltered, streaming live on the Black Star Network.
Tarrant County, Texas, the third largest county in the state and the last remaining large,
Red County.
What have they done?
Well, they've done all they can to cheat to win.
They have whacked nearly 100 polling locations in November.
The county commissioners voted to eliminate them before the midterms, and not only that,
even in the conversation, they were like, yeah, you know, we did jerrymanding.
We did it because we wanted more Republicans.
Well, County Commissioner Lisa Simmons, who is running for county judge, voted against it,
and she will join us to explain what's going on.
In Florida, in Florida, the attorney, Monique Morel says she was tipped off the Governor
Ron DeSantis plans to remove her from office again.
Borrell says this is an attempt to distract from the millions of the Sanders administration
has misused.
will join us as well.
Maga Republicans pick and choose when socialism works for them.
One day they're denouncing it.
The next day when Donald Trump is supporting it, they embracing it.
Well, Democratic-Colrano-Gay said, yeah, y'all are a bunch of hypocrites.
The silence from Republicans about Donald Trump's about Trumpy Laura Lumer's racist comments
regarding Angie Nixon, it's amazing how quiet they are.
One media outlet asked some Republicans about it.
Let's just say they were talking about it.
totally zipped. The White Citotia, Mississippi Police Chief has been fired for sending racist text
messages. Could this fire him be a step in the right direction for the justice for the one-year-old
black baby, Cohen Wiley, who was shot and killed in June? You don't want to miss my conversation
with the SOFA Army Group, Mays. We're talking life after Frankie Beverly and what is next.
It's time to bring the phone on Roland Martin Unfilcher on the Blackstone Network. Let's go.
To whack 92 polling sites. Now, mind,
They say the first time they've done that.
They tried to do three times as many of those, and so they're shutting them down.
Now, they claim that this is because lower turnout.
But if you look at where they're being whacked, yeah, black and brown communities.
It was Commissioner Alyssa Simmons who wrote it against this.
Of course, she was on the losing side, but she also has made it clear to people.
And there were so many people who turned out to speak against this.
They were there.
And the county judge, the petty petulant county judge, little Timmy, he, of course, was still trying to block them as well.
She joins us right now, Commissioner Simmons does.
She's also running for county judge.
And I saw a tweet from Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, listen, where she said that this is the tipping point that should piss people all.
And it should be driving people to the polls.
And I hope that black folks in Tarrant County, Latinos in Tarrant County, Latinos in Taryn,
County, white folks in Taryn County realize that these Republicans don't give a damn about them
and what they, this is all about power. It's not about people. Don't give a damn. Okay. It's about
power. It's racism. It's heartlessness. I mean, they don't care if people can get to the polls.
They don't care if senior citizens can get to the polls. You know,
They removed the University of Texas at Arlington from the list of polling places.
The University of Texas is surrounded.
It's an old Arlington.
And for those who don't know, Arlington is home to AT&T Stadium where the Cowboys play in Texas Rangers
or Globe Life Stadium where Texas Rangers play.
But where UTA is located, that's old central Arlington.
Lots of senior citizens live.
in those many neighborhoods there, and they walk to UTA to vote.
So these people don't care.
And the folks of Tarrant County know it.
They are not in the dark about it.
It's, you know, you know that school board meetings, city council meetings,
and certainly county commissioners meetings are sleepy little meetings that nobody goes to,
nobody pays attention to, except here in Tarrant County.
Yesterday at County Commissioner's Court, or it's not a court, but the County Commissioner's
meeting, we had almost five overflow rooms filled with citizens of all ethnicities,
independence and supportive Republicans as well, who were, who are against the slashing
of polling places for the November 2026 election, down 92 in the third largest county,
in the state, the 14th largest county in the country.
We are 2.2 million.
We are growing.
Hell, our elections administrator, Roland, says over and over and over, he could use more
polling places. So he has been
compromised and influenced
by my MAGA
colleagues on the commissioner's court.
And for those that don't know, the commissioners
courts in Texas
are made up of five members.
So you have to be
able to count to three.
And we've
got three MAGA members
on our court. And they
rule and run everything.
Someone post this again. Someone,
someone, someone,
on, suppose this on Twitter, go to my iPad. They said that the map on the left was a
2024 presidential election. The map on the right was a special state Senate election. And
they said, this is why they did this, because they are seeing that Tarrant County is on
its way to becoming a blue county. And they are trying to stop it. And so if you limit access
to voting, you force long lines, you force people to go further to actually,
vote, that's what this is all about. They are scared to death. Maga Republicans are scared to death
that they are going to lose the majority. They've gerrymandered your seat. They lied before,
now they finally admit what it was all about. But the bottom line is they are scared to death
that they're going to have a red MAGA wipeout in November. They absolutely are. And they need to
because when you look at our March 3rd primary, 40,000 more Democrats voted than Republicans.
So that's significant.
And going back to that Senate District 9 race and those maps, Senate District 9 has been held by a Republican senator for a good long time.
and Trump won Senate District 9 by 17 points.
But we had a Democrat in the special election back in December, January, that won that seat.
And so, hell yeah, they are scared to death and they need to be.
And just for context, this is how red Tarrant County has been.
We have 69 elected county officials in Tarrant County from the commissioners, the county judge or county executive, the sheriff, the DA, 69 elected county positions, and only eight of them are Democrat.
We have a full slate of very, very qualified people, some of whom you've had on this show running on the Democratic ticket.
in Tarrant County. And so absolutely they are afraid.
This is one of the folks who spoke. There were a lot of people who actually spoke before the
County Commission, and this is what this man had to say. I want to reiterate with the
nice lady before me said, you're fired. Mr. Tim O'Hare, Matt Krause, I guess maybe you're
safe. Mani Ramirez, wherever he is, you guys are out. What
What could possibly be so important, Mr. O'Hare?
Can you listen to me, please?
Hello?
Yeah.
Hello?
Can you look at my eyes, please?
I can hear every word you're saying.
I want you to look me in the eyes.
I want you to look me in the eyes.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, look down.
Because down is what you're going in November.
So keep looking where you're going.
Okay?
Because this is what we're doing after this from now until November,
whether you cut these places or not.
We're going and we're knocking on doors and we're bringing people out.
And we're telling them.
the voter locations are and we're helping them get there and nothing you can do can step us from
removing you in November so come November you better find yourself a new job and to manny
Ramirez who is not here me you can hear me in the restroom vote for nydia in November
listen um is it your sense and again it was a lot of folk who actually came to the mic
uh and and this this county judge he has disrespected people he's thrown them out of commissioner's court
And you've been there.
You've been a county commission
and you saw, you see what's going on.
Are people really pissed off?
Are you seeing this?
Are you seeing something this go around
that you had not seen in previous election cycles?
Yes. Yes.
Roland, you know I am not one to BS.
I just, I shoot straight.
I call it like it is.
there is something this cycle this time around, especially in Tarrant County, this county, this
county is going to go blue this time. People have had it. And really, people may or may not know,
I am running against the county executive or the county judge. You just heard get combative with a public speaker.
I'm running against him.
And he's a tyrant.
In addition to kicking people out, having them arrested, having them jailed, giving them only one minute to speak.
He's told me, you sit there, you be quiet, and you speak when I tell you to.
This guy is disrespectful, and he's been this way for the three and a half years we've been in office.
he's doing himself in in the court of public opinion, but also his policies, his leadership,
those things, I point those out every single meeting.
And people have had it.
They are, look, when I've got Republicans and regular Republicans and MAGA Republicans
wanting to meet and asking, okay, do you think you'll be able to work with us?
That's telling.
And the answer to that question is absolutely, this is county government.
This is roads and bridges and oversight of the jail and the district attorney's office
and elections and behavioral health and the county hospital.
And that's what we should be focusing on.
But my colleagues over here are intent on cutting departments, eliminating departments.
We've eliminated our human services department that is responsible for rental assistance
and emergency utility assistance.
We've, in this fiscal year, 27 budget that we're about to consider and vote on on September 15th,
we've cut the community services department almost, their budget almost in.
in half, almost in half. We are targeting programs that help people, that county governments
are mission to help. We're lowering the tax rate at our county hospital, lowering it,
lowering it, lowering. They hadn't raised the tax rate in 10 years. And so that impacts revenue
over at John Peter Smith Hospital, the county hospital that helps those consider the least
of these. So people have had it with his policies, his spending all these jail death lawsuits.
You know, we're the jail death capital of Texas. This sheriff, since he's been in office since
2017, has had 81. We just had yet another jail death over the weekend. A sister, 81. She makes 81
jail deaths. And there are lawsuits behind those. And so I'm the only one on that commissioner's
court trying to get justice for these families and trying to help this sheriff, hopefully
give him the tools that he needs, the training, whatever he needs to curtail these jail deaths.
but sheriff won't talk to me because I call him out on these jail debts.
This county is paying money in legal fees,
we'll be paying money out in settlements.
It's just poor MAGA leadership all the way around.
Now, the sheriff is not on the ballot in November,
but the DA Phil Sorrell's is we had Tiffany Burks put on my iPad on the show.
She's running for district attorney.
Her site is Tiffany Burks for DA.com.
And here's what's crazy, Elizabeth.
On Friday, it would be the eighth anniversary of Roland Martin Unfiltered.
On our very first show was Crystal Mason and her attorney.
And this DA, this is now, she's been on our show every anniversary since we launched.
And here we are on the eighth anniversary of our show.
And the DA, Phil Sorrell's, is still trying to put this sister in prison for casting a provisional ballot.
He also needs to go down as well.
And I really hope, I really hope that,
and I purposely called out your sorority saying,
I need the A.K.A.s and Tarrant County to be going hard there.
I need the Alphas and Prince Hall, Mason,
people not Greek, church members.
Black folks should be, we should see the largest black turnout
in Tarrant County history come November.
And I don't want to hear any excuses because what these people are doing,
They do not care about regular ordinary citizens.
It's about serving a MAGA agenda.
And you're right.
Tim O'Hare is grossly disrespectful.
The sheriff is disrespectful.
The DA is disrespectful.
And the only way to get these people's attention is to send their asses home packing.
That's right.
No, the sheriff's not on the ballot, unfortunately, but that damn DA is.
And he has got to go.
Tiffany Burks is an excellent.
jurist, we've got to get her elected. And so if we get, think about this, Roland, if we get me
elected in that county executive seat, Tiffany Burks in that district attorney seat, we can make some
progress in Taryn County toward justice. We've got, we've got other sisters running for judicial
seats. There's not a bench in Taryn County that is Democratic. Every
bench, every family law court, every criminal court, civil court, there is not a Democrat in those
seats. And so Tarrant County is poised to change. We've got to get this county judge out of here
who violates people's First Amendment rights every day, every, every meeting. You know, people,
people get emotional in their one minute comment to us.
They get one minute to speak to the commissioner's court, one minute.
And so people might say bullshit or they might say your effing policies.
They're going out that door and sometimes in handcuffs and sometimes to jail.
It is a kangaroo court.
I look forward to bringing professional.
reasonable, caring leadership in this county executive role. And so Tiffany will be fantastic as DA.
And again, we have lots of folks down ballot on the ballot in Tarrant County. And it is poised to flip.
The people there yesterday were of all, all races, ethnicities. Shout out to the Sigma Gamma Rose who showed up in Commissioner's
court yesterday. Well, I certainly hope people are there, as that man said, are going to be
door knocking, doing block walks, precinct walks, going door to door. Folks, the reality is you need
resources to run. If you want to support Commissioner Simmons run for Tarrant County Judge,
go to vote Alyssa-S-S-S-I-M-M-O-N-S-com. And again, y'all, y'all, y'all keep hearing me.
I've been saying this y'all about U.S. Senate races, congressional races, gubernatorial races, state senate, state rep, county judge, county commission, judicial races, DA, shares, city council, school board.
This is the only way for us to actually maximize our voice if we maximize our power at the ballot box.
And so I need black folks in Tarrant County showing up and showing out.
There are no excuses.
If you want to get rid of that DA,
guess what?
Crystal Mason is the poster child
for getting rid of that DA.
If you want to get rid of this petty tyrant
county judge,
then Alyssa Simmons is your vote as well.
Commissioner Simmons, we appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.
Thank you.
Folks, going to go to a break.
I'll be right back.
Talk to my panel.
Right here, I'm rolling on the Black Star Network.
All right, folks.
Let me get personal for a second.
My mom had questions about her Medicare,
called Chapter, a Medicare advisory company, and she texts me right after saying it's a great
benefit. It was easy, a real person walked her through the whole thing, and now she understands
better what's going on. It was also not just her. Woman and Yonkers rode in saying the
process was so simple, the enrollment was easy, and she was so glad she called. Then there's Maryland,
90 years old, in Florida, living on Social Security. Her premium climbed every single year north
of $400 a month for coverage. She could barely afford any of $1,000.
more. So what does she do? She called Chapter. They found her the same top-tier coverage for
hundreds of dollars less, 90 years old, and finally, somebody in her corner. I hear stories like
that again and again from our community. The Medicare system was not built to work for you. Too much
fine print, too many plans. Yet Chapter's advisors are independent and honest, the only Medicare
advisors that compare every plan nationwide. They're focused on one thing, what actually works for
you. If you're already in the right plan, they'll tell you. No games. People who switched to a
chapter saved an average of $11,100 a year. All takes us 20 minutes. You talk to a real person
and it's completely free help. So, call chapter at 724-264-8-281. 724-264-8-1. That's chapter.
Let me ask you a question. Why do so many people seem to think they know black men so well,
What they think we want, what they think we need.
Hell, they even tried to tell us why and how we voted.
You've heard the chaos.
Now you can see it.

I never had a conversation with us.
Never asked us how we felt.
It brings us joy.
What makes us angry?
What makes us scared?
How do we live?
That's what this show is about.
No translation, because we don't need anybody speaking for us.
We can speak for ourselves.
This will be a show where we bring brothers on that you don't see on every other talk show.
Nope.
Brothers that are doing work in local communities with black men for black communities.
We're going to hear each other and try to.
understand so perhaps we can move forward together no translation because we don't need
anybody speaking for us no what we need is each other no translation right here on the
Black Star Network check it out I'm Chris Tucker and you watching rolling Martin on filter
while you keep rolling we're rolling Robert Bertillo civil rights attorney the
plitillow law group out of Atlanta Dr. Derek Jackson they were representative
Georgia District 68 from Atlanta as well I'll start with you
Derek, you elected official.
This here, y'all, somebody sent me this in the mail, a Nick Holmes.
I want to show you all this here, a Nick Holmes.
This is the amazing art piece.
It is actually an art piece of a black child looking at an art piece of black people in line to vote.
And if you also look at our desk here, this art piece that's at the bottom of my news desk,
That, you point it down.
There you're going to need to point.
Hold up.
Y'all can't really see it.
Let me remove the June team flag.
That artwork there, that's my man, that's the artwork there by Leroy Campbell.
He is Remember to Vote.
And you see if you zoom in on it, you'll see multiple generations of black people who are in line
to vote.
Do the other one, because that's the reverse one.
That's the reverse one.
Do the other side.
Yeah, that's the actual art piece.
right there. And so they're in line to vote. And Derek was happening in Tarrant County.
Again, we need massive black turnout. What these folks are doing there, some Jim Crow's type
stuff, we can't afford to have anybody sitting at home on the damn couch checked out of this
election. You could get a black county judge. You could get a black district attorney. You can get
black judges there. I mean, we got to see our numbers.
in a massive way.
Derek, you're on mute.
Come on y'all.
You're supposed to check that.
There we go.
There we go.
Yeah, there we go.
Can you hear me now?
Yeah, we got you.
Go ahead.
Okay.
Yeah, so one of the things I like to remind
every audience that I get in front of
during this election cycle rolling,
yes, I understand voter suppression.
Yes, it exists.
But voter turnout, I mean, we do a phenomenal job
as a, you know, our beloved fraternity,
alpha-fifurne, we do a phenomenal job, along with the other divine nine, registering folks to vote.
But we don't close that loop, Roland.
We don't close that loop so that registration turn out into that ballot.
If I need to remind your audience, in 2024, 75 million of us voted for Kamala,
77 million voted for the other due, a 2 million margin,
But 90 million registered voters stayed home.
90 million.
90 million.
And so this is very clear.
Tonight is another example why we continue to ask our federal colleagues up in the Senate and in the House,
why we need the John Lewis Voting Rights Act advancement.
So that way it can strengthen and protect their rights.
original Voting Rights Act of 1965.
We need the For the People Act.
We also need the Freedom to Vote Act.
So that way we can deal with gerrymandering,
that way we can do with the preclearance requirement,
that way we can deal with this campaign finance.
All these themes are being depicted in that painting.
When you think about that long line,
that first art piece that you showed us rolling,
that she was standing in line with an umbrella.
She's saying, that artist saying,
we're going to stand in line if it's raining.
That artist is also saying,
we're going to stand in the line if it's long.
And we know the line's going to be long
when you slash 92 polling stations.
When you slashed 92 polling station,
you can already anticipate long line.
But this is also why, Robert,
we tell folk, if you vote early,
you're going to stand in those lines.
This is from six years ago.
This is when Crystal Mason and her attorney were on our show.
And they have been, I mean, again, if anybody black in Taryn County,
anybody of a conscience in Taryn County wants a reason to run,
they've been going after this sister for nine years.
They have been wasting that level amount of resources, Robert,
trying to put this sister in prison.
If you need any other reason to vote, you vote for Crystal Mason
because what they're trying to do to her.
You're exactly right, Rowland.
I think one of the issues to me of us have to seek men,
from the national party.
The national Democrats have terrible messaging, terrible communications, terrible ground gang when
it comes to talking to African Americans.
Essentially, their resident debtor seemed to be, let's try to figure out how to get black folks
to vote for us without giving them anything.
But on the state and local level, we can control what we are saying.
We can control what we are campaigning on.
We can control what we deliver for the people in our community.
We have to be in a place where we're not just simply campaigning to the government.
rest of the intelligentsia.
Well, we're not simply having meetings where the talented tense walks around in a circle
and talks about how wonderful they are.
Part of what has been the magic of the Trump years, the magic of the Trump takeover of the
Republican Party is his average speech is on a third grade level.
He is able to talk directly to people, and particularly the white agreed working classes,
and articulate that to them the way that they receive information, a message that got
them to turn out in record numbers for Donald Trump in 2020.
24. Take that model and realize we have to start talking to folks about what is directly in front of them and how our policies will change things, not just a negative of what the other side is doing, but a positive of how your life will be better by voting for these groups.
You know, this morning, I wake up at 5 o'clock every morning, I hop on the treadmill.
There's a new song out from Set C. Red and Glorilla. I don't know if you've heard it yet. It's called Jiggle Bow, Bow, and the song just goes, Jiggle, Bow, Jiggle, Bow, Bough.
Those people are old enough to vote, and the people who listen to those songs are old enough to vote.
And we can castigate them, we can judge them, we can respectability politics them to death,
or we can find out how to communicate with them, we can find out what political issues motivate them,
we can find out what policy issues will get them to the polls,
and they get out and vote on those state and local issues because they affect them directly,
then that will trickle up to vote on the national levels of some of the state.
the big things that are affecting us on the macro level.
Folks, again, we talk about the power of our vote is critically important, but even when we do win,
you still have these idiots who want to destroy it. Check this out. 2020, Monigua was actually
elected state's attorney. 203, Florida governor Rhonda Sanders suspended her as state's attorney
of the ninth judicial court. He accused her of neglect of duty and incompetence, alleging her
office was too soft on crime when it came to gun crimes, drug trafficking offenses, child
pornography, and juvenile cases.
Well, what happened?
A year later, she kicked the ass of the person running against her.
She got 57% to vote to 43%.
Now, she says she got a tip that DeSantis plans to try to remove her again.
She joins us now from Orlando.
I mean, what the hell now?
So here you are.
You're in the job.
You get suspended.
You fight to get your job back.
They strip you of everything.
You run again.
You get reelected, overwhelming.
And now all of a sudden, you're hearing that he's coming after you again?
Good evening, Roland.
So it's not all of a sudden.
Ever since I've gotten back in office, it has been a constant fight, constant harassment.
And this time, by the Attorney General on behalf of the governor.
But yes, on Monday evening, I received a phone call that said that my removal was imminent
and that I would be replaced by an assistant.
statewide prosecutor who works for the Attorney General and previously worked in my office.
And you know, the question everyone's asking is why.
And the answer to that is there doesn't have to be a why.
There doesn't have to be a reason.
They didn't need a reason to do it last time and they don't need one to do it again.
And so, um, because, so you got this call saying it's imminent.
That's, that's all you know, nothing else?
That's right. It's imminent and who the person was who they thought would be appointed this time instead of the person who was appointed last time. And, you know, like I said, ever since I took my seat back in January of 2025, it's been constant harassment. The Attorney General would come out and talk about cases that didn't even happen in my circuit and, you know, add the taglines of incompetence and neglect of duty and soft on crime and all.
of the buzzwords. One specific case had to do with a child molester that had been released,
and he talked about how we know that state attorney in Orlando is soft on crime and she, you
know, is going to be a danger to our community. Well, it turns out that that individual
was actually released from the Fifth Circuit up the road, not my circuit at all, not even
while I was in office. And then nothing happened. There was no critique of the state attorney
under whose watch that happened under and he just moved on and this continues to happen you know
a repeated pattern of harassment that i've been dealing with over this last year and a half
now of course a lot of the attention has been on this grand jury a link showing that
the the sentence administration uh misappropriate it stole 10 million dollars that was
supposed to go to health care for poor folks and instead went to political purposes
Is there, do you believe that that case has anything to do with them trying to come after you?
So what I'll say is that this case concluded quite a while ago, but what happened last week was that the grand jury presentment was released.
And in that it made it clear that the jury thought that there was a misappropriation of funds,
that funds that were supposed to be going to this foundation to help poor children,
was taken and funneled into different organizations to then come back to the Attorney General, ironically,
and then be spent in ads to defeat ballot initiatives, such as abortion and legalization of marijuana.
So what people are concerned about is, did this happen in our jurisdiction, and is there anything that we can do about it?
And that's something that I bowed that I would look into.
You know, the state attorney's office is very unique
in that we don't investigate crime.
Law enforcement investigates crime.
But when you have corruption that runs as deep as it appears
that the corruption in this case runs,
there definitely needs to be independent entities
taking a look at these things,
because this is public corruption at its finest.
And while they claim to be so tough on crime,
the only crime they're really worried about appears to be their own.
Yeah, and so it's just, it's just amazing that the voters clearly expressed they wanted you representing them,
and Rhonda Santis simply can't tolerate that.
Yeah, I think it absolutely is a getback, right?
You know, I was overwhelmingly reelected, and when I was outmatched, they put over $2 million in the race of my opponent,
and I raised up around $500,000 in my race.
So I was outmatched and the audacity of me to be reelected
after he said that I couldn't be state attorney anymore.
Well, it seems to be a never, ever-ending sense of drama there in Florida.
Are you hearing from your supporters?
And obviously, you know, you have to, you're doing your job
until, you know, something changes.
But how are you rallying your base to just in case this happens?
Yeah, so it has been a tremendous outpouring of support over these last, this last day or so.
And it's been wonderful to see that the people who elected me twice are still with me and they're behind me.
There have been lots of opinion pieces that have gone out talking about what a disgrace and interference with the voters' rights.
in central Florida, this all is. So, you know, I've been through this before, so it's not the same
drama this time as it was for me last time. I understand that I have very little control over
whether or not it happens, but I have all the control over what I do in the meantime, and I'm not
going to waste time worrying about this removal. I'm going to continue to do the work that the people
elected me to do. We are in a, you know, very important time in history and how we fight for our
rights is going to matter to those who come after us. It's going to matter to us here now,
but I have sons and they're watching and they need to know how important it is to stand up
and fight for the things that we believe in. And that's the example that I try to set for them
in everything that I do every day. All right, then. We certainly appreciate you joining us
and keep us impressed of what happens next.
It's always some sort of drama dealing with Rhonda Santis.
It's true.
Thank you so much for always having me, Roland.
I appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch.
Going back to my panel, Robert, I want to start with you.
Again, this is harassment, okay?
Aramasa Yala, the sister who was the state of prosecutor for former Negro,
DeSantis went after her.
Then going after her as well.
And that's what this is.
It's pure harassment.
of black elected officials.
And look, Roland, this isn't an isolated incident.
We have to realize this goes on nationwide.
Well, I ran for judge back in 2024,
the levels of harassment to the point that people were sending us death threats.
One of them, they sent an email to death threat with a picture of me in my yard,
getting the mail about five minutes before that.
You have investigations.
If you are running as an African-American for one of these constitutional positions,
whether it's judge, police chief, sheriff, on down,
the line. They're going to investigate you out the wazoo. They will run media stories against you
whether there's any basis in fact or not. The idea is that they want to go around the
democratic process. As much as they talk about wanting to defend democracy and the integrity
of the vote, in reality, what they want to do is get the result that they want out of it.
And they do not care about the world of the people. They do not care about the world of
voters. And this is why it's so important for us to shed light on these things taking place
because we do not pay enough attention to the state and local races
that are actually affected us on a day-to-day basis.
It's easy from the news to talk about the evil stuff Trump did on a daily basis,
but we have to be concentrating on the things that actually affect us.
That judge is going to be the one who might sentence your child
and determine whether or not they get a diversion program or years in prison at some point down the line.
That DA is going to be the one who determines whether or not the charges against you are dismissed
or non-pros or if they are going to go ahead and go to trial based on a very thin concept.
a case in chief. So these cases have real impacts on life, and we have to concentrate on them
because they are life and death. Derek? You know, Roland, listen, the bottom line,
they're not just fighting crime, or at least they're saying they're fighting crime, but they're
really fighting democracy. I mean, look what happened just the other day with the Supreme Court
saying that Trump can continue to bulldoze or continue his project of the East Wing. And so we've seen
this at the federal level, we've seen it at the state level. And I, listen, I agree with Robert.
We got to focus on where it hurts us, where that impact is greatly when you think about democracy
and policies. And if I had the opportunity to ask Monika a question, was simply, what is the
governor talking about he's citing, talking about he has this constitutional oversight authority?
What is he citing saying that she has done this time? Well, well, no, first of all, first of all, he hasn't,
he hasn't spoken on this. She got a phone call from someone saying that the decision was imminent.
He has not made a public statement, so she can't address that because nothing has happened thus far.
Okay, so the governor wasn't the one that said it's imminent or her replace.
No, no, the governor didn't call her. A source called her and said it was imminent.
Okay.
So, but the bottom line is, as she said, he doesn't have to give a reason.
He can use his executive authority.
And that to me is also shameful.
When the voters have picked somebody, they've chosen their leadership, and he doesn't like it.
So therefore, he decides to say, fine, I'm going to swap them out.
That to me makes no sense whatsoever.
All right, folks, hold tight one second.

Let me get personal for a second.
My mom had questions about her Medicare so she called Chapter a Medicare advisory company and she texts
me right after saying it's a great benefit. It was easy. A real person walked her through
the whole thing and now she understands better what's going on. But also it's not just her.
Woman and Yonkers rode in saying the process was so simple, the enrollment was easy and she
was so glad she called. Then there's Maryland, 90 years old, in Florida, living on Social Security.
Her premium climbed every single year north of $400 a month for coverage she could barely afford
anymore. So what does she do? She called Chapter. They found her. They found her.
her the same top-tier coverage for hundreds of dollars less, 90 years old, and finally,
somebody in her corner.
I hear stories like that again and again from our community.
The Medicare system was not built to work for you.
Too much fine print, too many plans.
Yet Chapters' advisors are independent and honest, the only Medicare advisors that compare every
plan nationwide.
They're focused on one thing, what actually works for you.
If you're already in the right plan, they'll tell you.
No games.
and people who switched to a chapter saved an average of $11,100 a year.
All takes us 20 minutes.
You talk to a real person and is completely free help.
So call chapter at 724-264-8281.
724-264-8-1.
That's chapter.
Let me ask you a question.
Why do so many people seem to think they know black men so well?
What they think we want, what they think we need?
Hell, they even tried to tell us why and how we vote it.
I never had a conversation with it.
us. Never asked us how we felt. What brings us joy? What makes us angry? What makes us scared?
How do we live? That's what this show is about. No translation because we don't need anybody
speaking for us. We can speak for ourselves. This will be a show where we bring brothers on that you
don't see on every other talk show. Nope. Brothers that are doing work in local communities with
black men for black communities. We're going to hear each other and try to understand so perhaps
we can move forward together. No translation because we don't need anybody speaking for us.
What we need is each other.
No translation.
Right here on the Black Star Network.
Check it out.
We're amazed.
And here we're watching, we're on a unfilter.
I got racist Laura Loomer, who is pretty gross and pathetic.
She's a far-right activist, major Donald Trump ally, who has gotten lots of people fired because she's called them out.
She continues to face widespread condemnation after unleashing racist and misogynistic attacks against civil prominent black women in politics, including Florida, U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon.
She's attacked Congresswoman Ilya Omar, Ayanna Presley, former Missouri, Representative Cory Bush, and Supreme Court Justice Katante Brown Jackson.
It was a tale.
Many Hassan's media organization caught up with a few Republicans to get their thoughts on numerous comments.
Let's just say many of them were quite embarrassing, including black Republican Burgess Owens.
Did you have any comment on Laura Lumer, who of course has advised Donald Trump in the past, her comments calling some of your colleagues.
I apologize for this language.
I'm repeating what she said, ghetto black bitches?
No, I have no idea we're talking about.
You know Laura Lumer, of course, right?
Yes, so she had been repeating these comments.
I haven't said.
I have no comments.
I don't know.
Would you condemn such comments?
I have no idea what you're talking about, please.
I'm not going to...
This is someone who's advised Donald Trump.
Advised him on staffing changes.
I've heard those.
She's been saying them all over the place.
Would you condemn such comments generally?
I'm not going to comment on anything that I've not heard directly.
I have not seen this comment, so I wouldn't be able to comment.
Who is she referencing?
Corey Bush, Ilhan Omar, Katanji Brown Jackson, Angie Nixon,
not even just congressional clugs, but also the Supreme Court justice, a candidate.
Yeah, I obviously don't agree with those terms.
I don't comment on stuff I didn't see.
It's been all over the place. She's been repeating this.
Like I said, I didn't see it.
Sure. Would you condemn such comments?
I just told you. I don't comment on stuff like that.
Okay, okay. I was wondering, what did you make of Laura Lumeras?
First, I have no idea who you are.
Prem Tucker with Zateo News.
What's Zatio News?
U.S.-based political outlet.
Okay.
I'm not going to interview with you, but thank you.
Nothing on Laura Lumerous comments calling your colleagues
Black Ghetto Bitches?
An advisor to Donald Trump?
Who are you?
Prem with Zateo.
With who?
Zateo.
And what is Zatio?
Zatio is an American news outlet, Congressman.
For whom?
It's just an American news outlet.
I don't know what to tell you.
Why is it?
One question, what are your thoughts on Laura Lumer's comments?
I have no idea what black ghetto bitches?
Gotcha.
Ilan Omar also gave her thoughts.
I'm wondering what you made of Laura Lumer's comments calling you and several colleagues,
I apologize my language, ghetto black bitches.
I don't really concern myself with what people who I think so low of have to say.
have to say.
And I do you think that the black woman,
that she envies so much, agree with me.
I'm curious what you've made of your Republican colleagues
and some of your Democratic colleagues
who have made so much hay about comments
that Hassan Piker did not say versus comments
that Laura Lumer, who has advised the president, has said.
I mean, the obsession with Hassan is, I think,
less to do with what he says and more to do with the fact that they do not like that he helps
progressive candidates. And having him be out there is a threat.
What you have to say about Laura Lumerous comments about your colleagues calling them ghetto black
bitches? You know, no surprise. You know, this is one of the most vile and divisive people
in American politics, but just because these comments are not surprising, doesn't mean that they are not
deeply personal and that they have no effect. Angie Nixon is a human being, and more than that,
she is a great American. And the idea that this kind of discourse has become so normalized to talk about,
black women in this way among the Republican Party and the fact that not a single Republican
that we really see is standing up for it. I mean, where is Byron Donald's? Byron Donald's
is running for statewide elected office and one of, and someone that he is, you know, in that
Republican camp out in Florida is openly dehumanizing black woman in public.
Where is Donald Trump?
Where is Ron DeSantis?
Where are in the Republican caucus?
Where this shouldn't be up to black women to be standing up for themselves every single time for their own dignity and the right to be treated as a human being?
And so I think that it is less the attack, which is, oh, sorry, it is, it is less the attack, which is predictable, tired, unintelligent.
You know, this woman is of very little consequence.
But what is hurtful is the lack of leadership in setting the bar of who we are as a country.
And I find it that, if anything, is often the most dispiriting and hard to endure thing for women who are constantly under this kind of attack, for them to have to stand up for themselves.
Where are the people around them?
So Burgess Owens, it's amazing.
I don't know.
I didn't hear.
I didn't hear.
I mean, these Republicans have no guts, Robert.
They are shameful and despicable.
and these black Republicans are absolutely the worst.
And it's amazing as I was listening to that because, you know, you need to work over there.
These people are the most tuned into social media when it comes to the Republican Party.
They send out emails every day with all the top headlines.
They get clips sent directly to them in text messages about things you will be asked about.
And there is a transgender playing basketball anywhere on the face.
to the earth, they're going to know about it.
You know, if there's an illegal immigrant who runs a red light, they're going to have
be ready to roll on it.
But if it's somebody who is a literal advisor to the president of the United States of America,
they will act as if they have no idea who this person is, even though many of them have
been on her podcast.
Many of them have taken her endorsements.
It showed you that for Republicans, I'm not going to say that all Republicans are all
are racist. But being racist is not a deal breaker for them. And that is the point that should
be more concerning. The fact that these people will betray themselves, betrayed their dignity,
betrayed their God, who they all claim to be Christian conservatives, while a Christian
conservative would condemn something along these lines. But for them, being at the altar of Trump
is more important than their soul at the end of the day. They know that Laura Lumer has the
ear President Trump, that if she says that you are disloyal to him, you will be out of office.
We saw Thomas Massey.
We saw it with Marjorie Taylor Green.
We saw it with Nancy Mace.
We saw it with anyone who stood up to Laura Lumer or the Acolyx on that side.
So because of that, they have to betray who they are to the basis of their soul just to ensure
they can stay in Trump's good graces.
And that in and of itself should be disqualifying for holding any form of public office or public
trust. You do not represent the people of your district. You are a obsequious sycophant to one petty
tyrant within his fiefdom. You do not have the capacity that is necessary to be true to
the oath that you take to serve in that body and you should not be in office if you cannot stand
up for the fundamental basis of human decency. Derek? You know, Roland, this is an example
that Malcolm X stated back in 1962.
You know, as he said that the most
disrespectful person in America is a black woman.
He said that the most unprotected person in America
is a black woman.
He said the most neglected person in America is a black woman.
And as a father of four daughters,
I'm just incensed that these individuals
who are so in tune on everything,
all of a sudden they have no comments.
They all know who she is.
They know that she is a heartbeat
from the person in the over office.
This person has his ear.
So it's just disrespectful.
And when you see these violent attacks targeting
black women like this,
we all should say something,
including Republicans.
You know it's something when Marjorie Taylor Green
even came out and said this was wrong.
And so this is complicity at its highest level,
and it has unmasked the racism,
the underbelly of this country,
and those who are in elected office,
especially black Republicans,
they shouldn't run,
they shouldn't hide under no comment.
Yeah, but that's who they are.
And so, the bottom line is they don't have any guts,
and they are unwilling to go against MAGA.
They don't want to say anything.
They're scared to death of them.
So, I mean, I'm not shocked at all to see Burgess Owens look like a damn idiot by,
although, you know, I don't want to comment.
They have no guts.
They have no integrity, no decency, no honor.
And that's why black people got no respect for them.
And again, I know some actual, some black conservatives.
I know some people who don't mind saying anything.
And guess what?
Tim Scott, quiet, Burgess Owens, Byron Donalds, Wesley,
Wesley, I forgot that, the fool out of Texas.
All of them.
They all quiet.
They're all quiet because they are scared to death
upsetting their white MAGA handlers, period.
On that point, you know, at the same thing.
rolling.
Yeah, look, on that point, rolling, at the same time that these people, these people,
they will be the first ones on the podcast saying, why are black people on the Democratic
plantation?
Why are you saying that Republicans are racist?
Why are you only playing the race card, etc.?
I ain't heard Officer Tatum, condemned this.
I haven't heard Candace Owens.
The same thing about this.
I haven't heard the Hodges twins.
I haven't heard anything from on down the line throughout the entire black
conservative grifter sphere. I've heard any of them comment on this because at the end of the day
for them, that proximity to white supremacy is worth more than to protect them, even their own
black bodies, their own black children. So when we talk about why don't black folks want to walk
over to the other side of the aisle, I don't care if I agree with you on fiscal conservatism,
but I agree with you on military spending, if I agree with you on social issues, if you cannot
stand up for black people, then what the hell are you there for?
So you can talk about Democratic plantation all you want.
At the end of the day, you are the one who seems to be standing up for those who want you back there.
Just saying. Just saying. Just saying.
All right. Got to go to a break. I'll be right back.
Roll in my unfiltered all the blacks.
All right, folks. Let me get personal for a second.

Let me ask you a question.
Why do so many people seem to think they know black men so well?
What they think we want? What they think we need?
Hell, they even tried to tell us why and how we voted.
They never had a conversation with us.

Right here on the Black Star Network.
Check it out.
All right, folks, the White Mississippi Police Chief has been fired after findings showed he was sending racist text messages.
On Tuesday, the Senatobia City Council voted to fire a 60-year-old police chief Harold Hal Banderford.
Banderford used racial slurs, including the N-word multiple times in multiple text messages.
Before being fired, Van der Ford attempted to resign, but was didn't.
He is firing comes as the Citentopia Police Department remains under a microscope for the death of one-year-old Cohen-Wiley, who was shot in early June.
A Centinobie police officer fired shots into the vehicle Cohen was in after responding to an alleged shoplifting incident in a Walmart parking lot.
Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who was working with the Wiley family, issued this statement about Van der Force firing.
A one-year-old baby was shot and killed by police, and more than two months later, his family is still being denied the most basic thing they deserve.
full truth. The reports of racist language within the
Cenotia Police Department are reprehensible and make the
continued secrecy and lack of cooperation surrounding Cohen's
death even more unacceptable. Cohen's family deserves
answers. We will not stop fighting until the truth is revealed
and justice is served. MBI has the footage, release it.
No more delays and no more excuses. Derek, boy,
talk about these bigots showing themselves. This is the
chief of police.
The chief of police, Roland.
Let that resonate for a second.
The chief of police.
So we typically have these one-offs talking about there's a bad apple in every bunch.
But when that bad apple is on the top from a hierarchy standpoint, so what else was going on?
Not just these text messages, but profiling, training, and everything else.
I'm just elated that the board did the right thing by not allowing him to just quit or resign.
but they, you know, to save his pension and his pride and all that reputation,
they said, no, we're going to fire you outright.
So I think they did the right thing.
Robert?
Look, one of the things I want to talk to some younger people is if there's no other reason
to keep a clean criminal record is so you can become a cop and work your way up to leadership.
That at the end of the day, the way that we cure many of these issues,
because we've been fighting criminal justice reform for decades,
We've been fighting against this extreme maga agenda for over 10 years now.
But at the end of the day, more of us joining police departments, being that voice,
understanding those communities and working our way up to leadership is how you get rid of people like this.
I did a show with the Ku Klutz Klan about 10 years ago talking about what the modern virtues of their movement were.
And they said they were going, they were becoming judges, they were becoming police officers,
they were working their way into local governments because they understood there was no point in walking outside.
in a robe and burning across anymore, that's not effective.
What you have to do is get elected, get into power,
and then be able to help your people that way.
So if that rubric is working for them, which this police chief clearly shows,
we have to make sure we're doing the same thing.
And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised that Trump doesn't make him, you know,
Attorney General or something in a couple weeks when he finds out about this.
It's always pretty crazy.
You know, I saw this clip the other day.
I just got to get y'all.
I'm just curious.
Do TV bookers scour the earth
to find some of the most delusional black people
you can think of?
I mean, do they get together and say,
hey, let's find us a true nut case?
So there's this dude.
What the hell is his name?
I don't even know.
I've never heard of him.
All of a sudden, he pops up on Abby Phillips show.
Camel Foster, he's editor-at-large of something called Tangle.
Literally have no idea.
But maybe y'all can make sense out of the nonsense.
There was a discussion last night, and Jamel Hill talked about capitalism and white supremacy.
And let's say this brother disagreed.
It's one thing to not think capitalism isn't working ideally.
It's another thing entirely to insist that it is oppressive,
that it is bound up with white supremacy.
I've always preferred Adam Smith's description of capitalism
as the natural system of liberty,
the idea that people can own property,
that they can exchange it freely with one another for profit,
that they can find ways to put their resources to good use,
those private property,
and profit in a way that is actually beneficial to everyone else,
that there can be gains from trade that are mutually beneficial.
These are foundational ideas that have created more wealth
than any other system in human history.
That is what capitalism is.
That is not white supremacy.
Has always worked that way?
Has all, I've just described the actual...
It has not always worked out.
I've actually just described the basic facts of the evidence.
That's the basic facts, but that ain't how it's always worked.
Slavery is an institution that is older than writing.
It predates capitalism.
The notion that white supremacy and all these other things are bound up with capitalism
in an intrinsic and fundamental way is so absurd and laughable.
How is it absurd?
That it barely needs to be defended.
What do you mean it barely needs to be defended?
You actually have to articulate what the connection is.
How are these two things the same?
I'm talking about private property, the right to exchange and sell it with whomever you like.
capitalism and what is that to do with white supremacy.
It was intended to work versus how it's actually working.
I'm talking about how it's working right now today.
What is what is the white supremacist dynamic of private property?
It's not working on it.
I think that's the problem.
I think the problem is it's one thing to know.
There's this clip, Robert, of late Khalid Muhammad,
who was a national spokesman, nation of Islam.
It's a pretty accurate clip.
He goes, that's a sick Negro.
Look, Roland, I'm going to actually answer his question about the connection between white supremacy and capitalism.
Capitalism is not an actual financial system as a method of bartering where you give an item a distinctive value within a system which the system agrees upon.
Now, the problem of capitalism, as you may see what that system is, that it is viral.
It is a virus.
You have to continue creating and consuming, which means you need more.
So going from a feudal system, we simply had a landlord which owned all property and then leased it out.
The landlord leases to the fuel tenants, whether it'll be service or political sites, and maintains control.
You have very little difference when it comes to the people at the bottom of the economy.
The same people who are working medieval fields in the 10th century under a feudalistic system were working medieval fields under a capitalistic system in the 17th century.
It is not a means by which to increase the wealth of all parties is a means by.
was to increase wealth within a small and finite group.
Now, how does this work towards white supremacy?
Well, if you have a white supremacist viral system, which is associated with capitalism,
the only way to keep that system working is to have an input of serfdom and slash or slave labor.
You have to have slavery in a system for capitalism to work.
Otherwise, you cannot have products there are cheap enough to enrich the person at the top of the economy.
You don't think that's true.
Who the hell do you think makes your Nike's right now?
How do you think they're making your iPhones right now?
Where do you think the rocks come from that turn into the diamonds, to turn into the tritium,
the turn to all the other elements?
You have to have slavery or surf to be in a capitalistic system.
So it is absolutely linked to white supremacy, and that can be shown by the historical fact
that once the feudal system ended, was when the white supremacist's expansion and enslavement
of the entire globe began.
So for this person to go on television saying that it is laughable means they do not know
enough history to continue the conversation past a 30-second soundbite, and this is the
Part of the reason I do not go on mainstream news as much as I used to a few years ago,
because one time I got on to talk about campaign finance reform, they had me arguing with Miss Ohio.
So the only thing you need to do is be on cable news is be available.
The only thing, no, truthfully, if people knew what you had to be on cable news.
There's a reason Stephen A. Smith on TV talking about politics.
You need to be entertaining and available.
If you ain't got nothing to do, you can be on TV.
It's not particularly difficult.
just meet a booker and they'll put you on
the internet say something stupid.
Why do you think they have this in finite supply
of black conservatives go on TV
when they are literally 0.3% of the black population?
So just because someone's on TV
doesn't mean they know what they're talking about
and I think that's what we just saw.
And that's why if y'all go to shop blackstar network.com
No, no, no, no, don't pull the other one,
not that one, pull up the actual shirt.
That's why we got a shirt, the Flamethrower.
So that's right.
Y'all go ahead and get y'all Robert Tillo's shirt right there.
I mean, Derek.
Y'all better mail me one of those.
Just mail one to me.
Okay.
We'll mail it in a fireproof package.
The thing here, Derek...
Canadian women are looking for more.
More to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world are of them.
And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
I'm Jennifer Stewart.
And I'm Catherine Clark.
And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women.
Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers,
all at different stages of their journey.
So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on IHartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
I'm telling you, I literally don't.
Like, is there like a special house where they go find some of these confused black people?
It's got to be.
It must be rolling because I never heard of this guy.
And I'm like, Robert, I don't watch CNN.
I mean, other than watching you every week, every day, including the days I'm not.
Well, I ain't been on, listen, listen, I left CNN 13 years ago when Jeff Zucker chose not to renew my contract.
So, and I'm like you, I don't watch them.
There's not a single show on CNN that I watch, not a single show.
If I see anything that's on CNN, I'm going across a clip on a website, but I don't watch them at all.
I just ain't got no interest.
I can't even tell you what the CNN number is on my cable system.
I'm there with you.
Listen, to answer your question, no, I don't know who this person is.
But they find them.
And if they don't go and find them,
there are some in our community go and seek them out.
I mean, we've got an individual right now, Roland,
running for office for the fourth time in 18 months.
And you see him in every selfie with Rick Jackson,
a gubernatorial candidate on the Republican side.
And he looks like the three of us.
And so they find them.
But here's the bottom line.
I would not pay not one penny for anyone close to the Trump administration
when they want to talk about economics, macroeconomics.
And I'm not saying that because my undergrad is in economics,
my MBA with the emphasis of economics.
I know a lot about economics.
But these guys get on television rolling,
and they'll try to convince us that Biden is the reason why we got inflation right now.
This is the reason why it's okay that our debt just reached $40 trillion,
and we have a great economy.
And so the only reason why they're talking about capitalism,
because that's the antithesis of socialism.
They want to find their way to talk about socialism.
What they do not discuss the rolling,
is corporate welfare.
That's what we see right now.
Corporate greed.
And so that's the reason why these tariffs, the gas prices,
and our allies are so upset with us
because they do not understand economics.
They don't understand how government works,
and they have idiots like this individual
trying to explain capitalism, and they think it's okay.
Um, yeah.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
God bless Jamel also.
Just imagine if you were sitting there rolling, because as a point of your life, that could
have been you sending this to that damn idiot.
And you have to try to address him without slapping a hat look out of him.
And it's God, I'm going to send her a nice tweet later.
God bless her, I couldn't do it.
Oh, I'm with you.
I, I had to put up with, I, I, I had to put up with, I,
At least, I mean, when I debated, I mean, typically it was Bill Bennett or Ericson.
I mean, nah, I destroyed them.
And I, listen, I beat Glenn Beck as.
So, y'all, I really wish, you know, I could get a hold.
I mean, if y'all think people going viral now, man, if I could get a hold of the six years I was at CNN,
I was going viral before that was viral.
I remember when I just destroyed Glenn Beck.
I beat his ass so bad, y'all, that they wanted me and him to debate the next day.
He was like, nope.
They said, well, how about rolling the show?
Nope.
Okay, come out of the situation room.
Nope.
How about we do pre-taped?
Nope.
Let's do live.
Nope.
He then said, in fact, he said, if I'll come back on CNN, because he was begging.
He was begging to be a part of our political season that year.
man, boy, his dumb ass, I beat his ass so bad.
He literally said, I won't go back on CNN unless I'm only talking to the anchor.
I don't want anybody else on the set because I whooped his dumb ass.
And it actually was kind of easy.
I mean, it really wasn't any heaven lifting on my part.
I mean, it was light work.
Like, light work.
I could have, I could have.
Have y'all seen that video, that ignorant-ass T-Pont, that Turning Point USA white girl?
And she was questioning a sister.
All of that, that sister is my spirit animal.
Home girl was eating her sandwich and eating that girl, eating her alive.
Just lighten her.
Hold on, let me see if I can find this here, y'all.
You know, I come across, you know, it's a lot of stupid stuff you come across on social,
media, but there's some stuff that you see that, oh my God, is so just amazing.
I don't even know who this sister is.
If any of y'all out here know who this sister is, maybe she gave her name.
But I just love how she just ate her ass alive while eating her sandwich.
Y'all, watch this, watch this.
Okay, so I'm going to keep it short and simple.
Do you support giving free health care to illegal immigrants in this country?
Yeah.
Why?
Because they come here, they work just as hard as anybody else.
Illegal immigrants?
Yeah.
Just harder than anybody else.
So they work harder.
So what about the people, what about the American citizens who work that would have to pay
for their free health care from taxes?
At the end of the game, they're still doing jobs regardless that nobody else is doing.
So if you factor that, and they're still stimulating the economy, so there's really no reason to not.
And the taxpayers who would be paying for their free health care is also stimulating the economy.
Yeah.
Do you think it's fair to make me or make my fiancé pay for an illegal immigrant's free health care?
Well, that's not even a thing right now.
So are you saying like...
Every single candidate up on the stage for the Democratic debates.
Right.
raise their hand.
Well, that's not what's happening.
I mean, I'm saying essentially,
well, dying in the street.
That's not what I'm saying.
No, absolutely not.
When did I say that?
So you're saying, because they're illegal,
they don't deserve health care.
They don't deserve free health care from America.
I don't think that no.
Right, but who gets that?
Nobody.
Because it's not a right in this country.
No one should get free health care.
I think people should not have to die in the street.
I think free health care should be a thing.
So should we get free health care?
to the American citizens who are homeless instead of the illegal immigrants who aren't citizens?
I think we shouldn't let people down in the street.
I agree with you. I don't think that's happening.
Where is that happening at?
There's a lot of people that don't go to the hospital simply because of two high bills, medical bills.
There's a lot of people that can't afford health insurance or their jobs don't have benefits.
There's American citizens.
Yeah, good point. American citizens.
I think we shouldn't let people die in the street.
That's all I'm saying.
Okay. Even if it would cost me money out of my pocket, we should give free health care.
Regardless of the money that people are paying taxes, it's not going to things that they say they're going to.
We all know that these politicians are lining their pockets.
So why should we raise our taxes in support of free health care?
By your words, it's not going there.
Regardless, it's not going to where it's supposed to be.
So maybe we shouldn't fund free health care.
If we do get to a common goal to where we're helping people, not have to die in the street or be sick,
then so be it.
You keep saying dying in the street.
Where do you see people dying in the street?
There's people laying down the street right now.
Are they illegal immigrants dying from lack of free health care?
I know.
I mean, it's regular people.
But for example, if somebody got sick or got cancer, like, they should be taken care of regardless.
Okay.
I agree with you.
I agree that they should be taken care of.
But is it my responsibility to fund their health care?
I think it should be the government's responsibility.
Where does the government get money to do all this?
Of course the taxpayers, but they should be using the money more responsibly, as we all know they are not.
Okay.
So maybe we shouldn't be giving them money.
Yeah, people should definitely pay their taxes.
Oh, okay.
So we should pay taxes, even though you recognize that the taxes aren't being used responsibly.
Yeah, I suggest better legislation and better government.
I'm not talking about.
Is by the only one who loved the crunch?
first of all
that had to be a good ass sandwich
I mean she was
the crunch was just taking me out
but she's like
she's like
little Becky
you like work
there
listen
she did not move
from her principles
or core values
she's simply saying
in this country
we should have
accessible quality
health care
point blank
the other
person, she kept talking about, well, if they're illegal and trying to put all these conditions,
she's like, well, where is that happening? She's just saying, listen, if you pay taxes,
we need responsible government and we need responsible elected officials to take care of the people.
Point blank, end the story. The other thing that I love about this clip that you just shared,
Rowland, is this. I'm so exhausted of individuals who are toting the water for this administration.
I mean, right now, when you look at nearly $3 trillion since the two years he's been in office,
they spent excess of dollars doing things that are superfluous, this ballroom, the reflective pool.
But meanwhile, we have an aircraft carrier that just been replaced with another aircraft carrier that's already having problems.
So you can't talk about national security and national defense
if you're not taking care of people that's on the front line.
So you replace the Abraham Lincoln with the George Washington,
as if they don't have any problems already.
What happens if another situation, another hotspot pops up?
We do not have the military arsenal and capability and capacity to take care of it.
Why? Because we have an individual that's occupying the Oval Office
that doesn't understand how to govern.
Got it.
It doesn't understand, quite frankly,
as you always tell us every day,
these individuals do not care.
And so that's the problem that I have,
that that reporter trying to get this young lady
that was enjoying her lunch
on some got-you stuff
about these illegal aliens
and these illegal aliens,
such as up in Springfield, Ohio.
$15 billion.
$1,000.
to the economy.
Robert, my girl
wasn't sweating her. She was like,
I'm going to school your ass
while enjoying my sandwich.
And look, on this
point, this is part of the thing that I think
annoys all of us the most, that
as a black person, you
can know everything you're talking about. You can be
college educated, you can be an expert in
the field, you can have written
articles about it. As a dumb
ass white person, I'll walk up to you like that
and question you as if you don't know what you're talking about.
They have four talking
points that they've been given. What about illegal immigrants? Should taxpayers have to pay for it?
Well, I don't think that's happening. And because that's all that they know, they can just repeat
that in a circle. And because of the, there's something called the Dunning Kruger effect.
The Dunning Krueger effect, if you haven't heard of it, is this conceptualization and psychology
that the individuals who know the least about something are the most confident that they know
the most about it. Because the fact that they know so little about it narrows the view that they have
of the subject matter and therefore gives them an unfounded confidence in their ability
to execute that task.
Have you taken somebody who has never flown an airplane before and ask them, do you think
you could fly a plane?
The idiot will probably say, I can probably figure it out pretty quickly.
Somebody who went to pilot school and failed out will say, hell no, because they actually
know how hard something is.
And for many of these white magas, because they have recruited some of the dumbest individuals
on earth, people who listen to Kid Rock, folks who think Vanilla Ith as a rapper, you know,
there are people who think the game show host from The Apprentice is competent to be president.
The dude from Fox and Friends weekends can execute a war against the Persian Empire.
The lady who is drunk on the five, now she's in charge of the circuit court in D.C.
That one lady from wrestling is in charge of education.
These are people who they're talking about the Dunyan Crooker effect because you have
this baseline level of idiocy in America, which has been propagated, and they put red dye
into the water and lead in the paint.
And he got people who are real, real, real stupid.
And President Trump has taken them and weaponized them against the rest of us.
And for that woman to keep her composure, to stay level-headed, to try to educate, you know,
this individual of a different background of hers, I think that is something that we should no
longer have to put up with. It is not my job as a black person to educate you. I am not your
friendly Negro. I am not bagger vans. If somebody comes up to you to annoy you in this way,
just walk away. Don't give them free content. Don't get them free views. Don't give them free
social media interactions. Just leave and leave them to their being. They did not develop writing
until tens of thousands of years after we did. This is new to them. You can just walk away.
but if you do this out of stay
keep eating your sandwich
keep eating your sandwich
by all means
all you all congressman
everything's being recalled nowadays
hey hey hey she was
enjoying the hell out of that sandwich
that's all I'm saying all right y'all
Congressman Jonah Gase of Colorado
it was pretty funny
you have all these Democrats
a lot of Democrats and all these Republicans
talking about socialism socialism
socialism until they get jammed up and confronted with their own hypocrisy.
Well, that took place during a committee hearing and a lot of questioning I thought was
pretty cool, pretty brilliant.
So let's roll it.
Matter of fact, when is Joe the gay's going to come on this show?
Every time I see the brother, Carol, he hit his office tomorrow.
He needs to be on this show.
All right, roll it.
We voted on a non-binding resolution regarding socialism a year ago.
We did the same two years before.
years before that, there is no doubt that Republicans have decided to put before the House a non-binding
resolution condemning socialism as a political tool in advance of the November 3rd election.
It is what it is. I get it. I understand my colleagues' motives, and I suspect the American people
will see through it. I guess time will tell, but I imagine six months from now, I hope that I have
the opportunity to serve on the Rules Committee, and perhaps I'll be sitting on that side,
and I can remind my colleagues of how they squandered, squandered, totally squandered, the waning
days of their majority on non-binding resolutions, but in any event, to each their own.
So, Mr. Stile, this resolution condemns socialism, correct?
I'd say so.
Okay.
What is socialism?
I in particular Democratic Socialist America they have a handy little printout with the program
Socialism I'd go through their policies sir just to get me I'm noting the Democratic Socialist
America I go through their policies I got a green new deal and mass incarceration
Mr. Style I'll go back I'll go back I guess it's here I'll get you a copy it's clear to me
you can't define I'm literally handing you a document sir with all of the
all of the highlights that the what is a has produced
What is capitalism?
This is a debate between
Democratic Socialists of America's platform.
What is capitalism?
Capitalism is the economic system
that we operate in the United States.
That's your answer.
Define it.
What is capitalism?
Like, these aren't trick questions.
You're a very smart man.
What is capitalism to you?
Free market, right?
Are my...
Yeah, free market.
I'll go with you.
Okay, glad I could help you with that.
Define socialism.
What is socialism to you?
We can get a dictionary definition of it.
You pull up, if you got it.
Okay.
Go ahead, sir.
I'm offering to you the entire platform of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Egalitarian, economic, and political theories or movements advocating collective or governmental ownership
and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
That's Miriam Webster's dictionary definition of socialism, right?
I trust that it is.
Owning the means.
I trust you.
I mean, you're here condemning it.
You said right.
You have the definition.
I just said, I assume what you read is correct.
I can't validate.
I assume you're reading it correctly.
This seems absurd to me.
Mr. Stile, if I ask the chairwoman to define socialism,
she's not going to give this rigmaru.
She's going to say...
It's not terrible rigameroo.
I'm actually giving you the definition of the Democratic Socialist of America.
Did not ask you a question.
Got it.
Perhaps I can ask one of my colleagues.
Maybe one of my Republican colleagues on the side of the aisle
if they'll engage in a colloquy because I think they'll answer the question
more honestly than Mr. Stile will.
if they'll define, what does socialism mean to them?
I'm just trying to understand the definition of socialism
so that we're all operating off of the same understanding.
That's it.
And I thought that Mr. Stile, given his passion for condemning socialism,
would be very eager to give me a very simple definition of it.
That's it.
Can anyone here just tell me what we're condemning?
Can you define socialism?
Mr. Nogh, let's just state.
I don't know how the attorneys exactly.
do it in court, but let's just say we accept the definition you gave from Merriam Webb.
Okay.
Thank you, Madam Chair.
I thank you.
I did not think it would be this hard to get the people who are wanting to condemn socialism to define socialism.
So, okay.
So now, cut in about five minutes of my question there.
So going back to you, Mr. Stile, socialism, owning the means of production, right?
That's a piece of it, yeah.
Okay. What would you call the Trump administration acquiring a 10% equity stake in Intel,
a 15% stake in rare earth producer MP materials, and a 10% stake in lithium, Americas, and trilogy meals?
It's an American first policy to make sure we cannot compete China.
Do you believe that the government should own grocery stores?
No.
That would be socialist to you?
I think that would be a type of overreach of the federal government, absolutely.
Would that be socialist to you?
That'd be a form of socialist, man.
Okay.
And if Donald Trump announces tomorrow that he's going to take a 20% equity stake in Kroger,
would that be socialism to you?
I'd want to see the details.
Oh, you'd want to see the details.
I understand.
No, but understand the percentage would it be.
What percentage is it from socialism?
50%?
80%?
For the folks watching at home, watch the sleight of hand.
Because I think this is really important.
I'm asking an honest question.
You said if government owns grocery stores,
that would be socialist.
But if, of course, Donald Trump were to announce an equity stake in a grocery store,
well, I'd have to really see the details, because we all know the play, Mr. Stile.
If I mentioned anybody else with Donald Trump, you would have answered it a different way.
I have to ask you to please not interrupt.
Sure, go ahead.
Okay.
I think there's a meaningful and substantive role of your federal government as it relates to foreign policy and national defense.
I think that's why we look at the National Defense Production Act is a mechanism.
I mentioned a grocery store company.
I didn't ask you about mining.
You can either give me, let me respond or you can control the time.
What does Prober have to do with foreign policy?
You were jumping, right, between areas of foreign policy, rare earth materials.
Sure.
Oil, right?
These have national policy and national security interests at sake, which is why we have the Defense Production Act.
Fine.
Which gives the federal government certain roles that are non-traditional in the capitalist system.
So we understand that.
And then the question is, where on that dial?
And so the question then becomes, some folks on your side of the aisle would like to have government around grocery charts.
I think that's nuts.
And if the President of the United States announced that the United States government was taking a 10%, 20%, 30% equity stake in growth?
You're playing the hypothetical game.
If he would, hypothetical, he's in equity ownership.
And when you ask Mr.
Mr. Schroger.
When you ask Mr. St. St.isle of question, would you let him answer?
because he was trying to answer you when you ask a question.
He tried to answer you and you were talking over him.
So I'm just going to ask the two of you to let's get on with this,
ask a question, let Mr. Stile answer it, or Mr. Stile,
if you don't want to answer it, say so.
Thank you.
Please.
As I said, at the outset, I asked you a very simple question.
You answered it.
that the government-owning grocery stores would be socialist in your view.
I then posed the question as to whether or not the president announcing that the United States government would take a 10% or 20% equity stake in one of the largest national retailers in our country, whether that would be socialist.
You said, I'd have to know the details.
He's not doing that.
I'm not, I didn't pose the question yet.
So let's respect the chairwoman's request here.
Pose away.
So you then answered and took us down the road of the justifications with respect to national security and foreign mining and all the rest.
rest. So we are back to square one. As you said, you said very clearly, there are people in my party
who believe the government should own grocery stores, and I'm trying to get a better sense as to
whether or not you agree, and I sense that if Donald Trump were to announce that he believes
it's the right thing to do, that you would agree. You have an opportunity. Canadian women are
looking for more, more to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world
are out of them. And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast. I'm Jennifer
for Stewart. And I'm Catherine Clark. And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring
women. Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers, all at different stages of
their journey. So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us. Listen to the Honest Talk
podcast on IHartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Opportunity to tell me no, that if the president announced a 10 or 20 percent equity stake
in a national grocer, that you would not support that. You believe that's socialist.
I think there would need to be a national security rationale for the action.
I don't see any...
In your hypothetical, I don't see a national security purpose.
To you?
It's a hypothetical.
So we're entering...
Helpful answer.
Silly season.
Helpful answer.
Okay.
So the test for you as to whether or not the U.S. government acquiring a stake in any
American company or any American industry as to whether or not that is socialist is whether or not
there's any kind of national security implication.
And essentially, the United States government can, you know, so long as they can put together this cogent rationale,
Donald Trump can take equity stakes in whatever companies he deems necessary, the U.S. government, I should say,
taking equity stakes that he's initiating.
As long as that national security prerogative is established.
Is that a safe?
No, I think you're wildly overstating it.
Wildly overstating it.
Yes.
Okay.
Well, I would just simply suggest to you that if the chairman of the committee that is,
pursuing this resolution can't define socialism, Madam Chair?
I did.
I'm not asking, this is, I'm propping the chair very clearly.
And if the chairman of the committee cannot, in my view, distinguish between the socialist way
in which this president is currently operating, acquiring on behalf of the United States
government, massive equity interests in company after company after company in an unprecedented
way, a way that no president in the modern era of our country.
has done that perhaps this resolution isn't ready for prime time.
But in any event, I know that we'll probably not
be convincing to the chairwoman.
So I will yield back the balance of my time.
It's amazing how they don't see the government
taking an equity stake in companies and not being socialism,
but they call everything else socialism.
These people are full of it, Robert.
They're just full of it.
You're looking for intellectual convalued.
to a consistency, and I'm not quite sure why.
These are the same people who talk about Christian conservative family values and vote for
somebody who has five kids by three different baby mamas and paid off multiple strippers
and porn stars.
And we have a constant conversation about who exactly is his sidepiece in any given time.
The same people who claim that they care about family values are the same people who support
Max Miller and Corey Mills, et cetera.
So it's a waste of time trying to point out the hypocrisy.
The bullshit is the bullshit.
It is what it is.
Resip's a locator.
The thing speaks for itself.
They are not trying to convince you.
They're not trying to make sense.
This is a campaign year non-viding resolution so then they can run around and tell people,
the same folks we were talking about earlier, who have that, as Donald Trump said,
I love low education voters.
Those same voters, if you just go to them in these gale, social,
socialism, socialism, socialism, they think that that will scare them enough for them to not notice that Social Security is socialism.
Medicaid is socialism. The military is socialism. Roads are socialism. I mean, any time you have a government that is doing things, quite frankly, you're outside of a laissez-faire, pure a macroeconomic system.
So they can yell socialism all that they feel like, but in reality, what they don't want to have is for people to actually think and listen and
understand exactly what would happen. They have to keep these things so taboo so that there's
no chance that people are ever actually asked the question, well, why exactly does Elon Musk have
a trillion dollars? Why does Donald Trump tripled his net worth in a year and a half? Where are all
the people who are in Congress entering poor and leaving rich? And this is so much of a capitalistic
society where only the strongest survive. So that's why they keep pushing this. They don't care
about what the actual truth or answer is. And it's a sonic endeavor to simply try to.
quote-unquote, have it got your moment with them because they have a different audience than you.
Derek?
You know, one of the things that they do now want to talk about is corporate welfare, right?
Corporate welfare is a clear example of their form or definition of socialism.
But they don't want to say that because when you take taxpayer dollars, I mean, for example,
I'm going to just use Georgia as an example.
our budget this year rolling is $38.5 billion.
But ask how much of those dollars precipitate down to the least of these
to make sure that we're taking care of those families who need SNAP benefits,
who need access to health care, who need their hospitals to remain open.
Those zip codes with dilapidated schools where when it rains,
the water is on the inside of the classroom.
They don't want to talk about that,
but yet they'll talk about,
well, we're building a data center
and we gave them $2.5 billion in incentives.
Or we're building this,
we're bringing more corporations to create more jobs.
And so when we think about what's happening right now,
socialism is their boogeyman for this election cycle.
But what we're also seeing just yesterday
when Tim Cook, the CEO and chair of Apple,
they said his package, his compensation package rolling,
get this, $880 million while he was CEO.
But yet they laid off 15,000 employees
that helped create that compensation package.
And so I'm with Robert on this as well.
they can miss me with the Democratic socialism.
They can miss me with trying to equate Democrats as socialist
when they continue to rob Peter to pay Paul
to make sure that we now have billionaires
that are becoming trillionaires.
Well, yeah, but again, they are who they are.
And that's why, listen, they're going to call you,
whatever they're going to call you.
You could be the most staunch capitalist Democrat
and they're going to call you a socialist,
they're going to call you a communist,
they're going to call you everything.
thing in a book so you might as well go ahead and just expect it all right
Robin and Derek I so appreciate you all joining us thank you so very much
appreciate it thank you folks a couple of years ago the front man of May
his feature of Frankie Beverly passed away so many of us loved Frankie Beverly
he was beloved for his voice and entertaining us for a very long time and after
his estate decided to give first of them there were a group of band members
who made up Mays.
And then when they had new manager,
this was when Franklin was still alive,
they actually left or something got terminated.
Well, but the bottom line is this here,
after Frankie's death, his estate gave them permission
to use the name Mays and perform their music
all across the globe.
I recently sat down with them, including my man Rome,
who is the last surviving original member of Mays.
Here's our conversation.
All right, last time y'all
here you're a TMF. A lot has changed. Yeah. TMO? No. What happened? What happened? Well, you want to explain that?
Sure. Well, we contacted the Frankie Beverly Estate basically and we did a worldwide licensing agreement to use the name May. So we're the only ban on the planet with the right to use the name.
Rightfully so, obviously. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Now, how has, did that check?
Did it change everything for y'all? Did it change bookings? Did it change appeal? How do things shift?
Well, absolutely, absolutely. Now we have a manager and a booking agent, a reputable one in the industry, UTA.
And now we're working on a 20, 25 city tour for next year.
Everything is going great. We're getting ready to go over to the UK actually doing two shows at the, what is it, September 5th?
Fifth and Sixth.
Manchester the Fifth, London, Hammer Smith, Ode, which is the new Apollo, the Ventim Apollo.
So, yeah.
Things are going great.
Things are going great.
In terms of audience reception, how's that been?
It's been an education.
You know, it's been an education for them.
And by that, I mean them not seeing Frank, a lot of them not seeing him for the very first time with the band.
and seeing Chris and having him tell his story
how he became the lead singer.
It's an education for people.
And you can see a lot of times,
you can see and feel the,
that ain't, you know,
and then once he's told his story,
then they stay relaxed.
And they're like, okay,
he's not trying to be frank.
He's, he is who he is.
You know, he's just trying to,
he's just carrying.
Give him a chance, yeah.
Yeah, he's carrying on the legacy.
The music, I mean, the reality is when you go from the original temptations
and David Ruffin and Kendricks, and then, of course, new voices come in.
When you think about other groups, again, when Maurice White stopped performing,
then all of a sudden, Philip Bailey is really taking the lead.
I mean, so you've literally had that happen in music, and the whole point is that music still lives.
I mean, you've got some groups that, if you look at the spinners,
there are no more original members of the spinners,
but folk going to still dance to their music.
Right.
True.
That's very true.
So when y'all hit the beat, the artists go,
all right, let's go ahead and see them lyrics.
Does that happen?
Oh, yeah.
They're still right there.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, they're still saying it.
Oh, and say it again?
I mean, without question, the songs are bigger than the faces.
The songs are bigger than us.
You know, and you know that it's, the catalog is just so massive that regardless of what faces on it,
songs are going to do what the songs are going to do.
So when you're on that stage, when you're on that stage and then you're looking out,
what is the, what is the transfer of energy?
are there times when one or multiple of you kind of like
oh hey we got a show tonight and all of a sudden
when they show up your whole countless changes
oh no it's never like that
oh we've got a show to do no no no no we're always excited
and and frankie spirit has gotten us so when we get out there
it's like man it's it's we're going to the heavens
and the audience is right there with us every step of the way
but listen but there are times when our artists
Sometimes you ain't feeling it.
Then all of a sudden that the energy,
I was, Pallel de Bell was on the time during the cruise,
and she was under the weather.
She almost didn't perform.
And when she came out,
the first 15, 20, 25 minutes,
she, I mean, it was noticeable.
Then all of a sudden,
that energy force from the audience
caused a shift.
And then by the end,
she was Patty, and she talked about it later, she was like, yo, that, she was like,
lifted her up.
Right, absolutely, absolutely.
Yeah, they definitely, it is a transference of energy all the time.
Again, like I said, when it's a brand new audience and they haven't seen us without Frank yet,
and they see Chris, and they hear Chris, and they hear his story, and we're playing the songs,
you're giving them 110%
and they start doing the electric slide
and they're doing their thing
and so it's a transference
of positive energy
so absolutely.
I think that once Chris tells his story
he connects with the audience
once he does that
and it's like they start to
relax more and it's like oh okay
and when you say tell the story
one of the things I share with the audience is
God only made one Frankie Belletle.
can never be replaced right so that's not what I'm trying to do I'm just here to
carry on the legacy with the gift that God has given me to the best of my
ability and and and you know and they usually applaud and you know and you know
because I'm not trying to take his place no one can do that so but but once they
understand and also the history where I came from Regina Bell as a music director
when I was 19 years old we opened for Frankie and Mays for about a year so
Frankie was side stage most a lot of nights listening to me sing a duet with her
in fact when he performed at St. Louis
the month before.
So I was there.
Regina actually flew in
to surprise him.
Yeah, that was in, because the last
performance in July, that was in June
the month before.
So that relationship definitely goes back.
Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.
So once I tell them the story
and, you know, Frankie sold positive
seeds into my life at 19 years old.
He said, young man, you have a great voice. Keep doing what you're doing.
One day you're going to make it. So
looking back at the seeds that he sold into my life,
I'm able to be here now.
So, you know, when I tell them that story, they go, oh, we get it now.
Well, the other thing is that, and this is what I always say, I've said this to other
things as well, is Mays featuring Frankie Beverly, but the reality is you do not have
the reaction to the music without Frankie, but you do not have the reaction to the music
without Mays.
Those two things go together.
And I think that's also what, that also, what the audience speak,
to as well, the symbiotic relationship.
Yeah, and Frank was never in his mind
ever wanted to be a soloist.
He's a band guy, always.
You know, first and foremost, band.
Even though he wrote all the songs
and as a musician as well, but just band.
Never.
And he could have done just as well as a solo.
You think about it now, come on.
But hey, we're here and he made it happen.
for us.
I got some dance songs.
There were times where we might have time constraints.
Okay.
So if we got a tight window, they want to hear the bank.
They want to hear the hits that they don't have.
If we got an hour and a half show, we're going to sneak them in.
It's going to take some time for them to, because they listen to it.
We still have fans from TMF from that album.
And I think, you know, maybe we have to incorporate a medley just to let them hear those songs.
They get accustomed to hear.
And we can switch.
some stuff out. But yeah,
I'm with you. I want to play those
songs. Yeah. I know
you jumped on them.
Listen, I listen to music.
You know, if it's a vibe, I would sit here and rock
too. Yeah, you're a music lover. That's what I
love about. You're a music lover from the heart, man.
Listen, that's what
I call it. I said, look, music that hits your soul, I call it
aw, shit music.
I'm like, that's what you know.
But somebody said, that's their reaction.
That's what you know, okay, that song hit you the right way.
Not every song going to hit you that way.
But we got a bunch of them.
Catch every laugh and eye roll on shows like the Tom Green Farmcast and Park the Bus.
Now with full video.
Same hosts and the same chemistry with all the hilarious moments you've been missing right on your screen.
Cheers.

Next, next few months.
Like, what's going on?
Are y'all just crazy busy?
Well, yeah, we keep in business.
Planning stuff for a lot of things are planned for 2027 all.
I mean, starting off the top of the year, we're going to do the Soul Train cruise.
We're doing the Dave Cars cruise, which is in Japan for two weeks.
And then focusing on putting everything in place for the 2025 city tour.
It's coming.
All right.
Yeah.
Gotcha.
Now, we're going to see you somewhere along the journey, right?
But that ain't.
I'm always, you never know, see that I pop up in.
I'm always going somewhere.
And I'm sure we're going to be coming through here, too,
before, you know, next year, yeah.
Okay, now, of course, we see the photo there.
So, doing the show, are you wearing a hat or no hat?
Oh, no, no, no.
That's reserved for Frankie, my brother.
I'm not touching the hat.
I'm telling you, I was telling it wrong with the journal crew.
And I got a photo of it.
I was like, Frankie, why you got 20 white hats they all?
I said, Prane, all the second.
I'm sitting looking like, there's no difference between anything.
of these hats.
And I was like, what?
You couldn't just bring 10?
It was like 20 hats.
I couldn't do that.
All right, so, so here's, okay,
how much white do y'all have?
White room or white cloth?
No, we just.
No, we just.
No, I just, just a couple of them.
Just a couple, man.
Just a couple?
So what you do, just take it to the cleaners.
Take it to the cleaners.
Or you go wash it yourself?
Take it to the cleaners, baby.
I have about seven different white hats.
And I keep adding every time I see one I like.
Yeah, same here.
I'm collecting.
Okay.
And then we want to incorporate, you know, we got a black and red or all black,
but we say that for the cruises because these folks, they're going to get cussed out.
I tell you, I don't know why.
I'm telling you.
They like they're white.
Y'all going to get cussed out.
Because they're first part, they're going to cuss you out because they're in all white.
They'll be like, what the hell are y'all doing?
They're going to be like, y'all didn't get the memo.
The cruise is different, though.
The cruise is different?
Yeah.
Because you've got a bunch of different people from a bunch of different countries, too.
Okay, for everybody who's watching, what Rome was really saying is,
the cruises are not black.
If it's a black group, they're going to be on white.
I don't know why she said here.
He's trying to be out of PC, you know.
Now, in our defense, when we did Dave's Cruz.
Yeah.
It was.
Stop right.
Stop right there.
Whose cruise was it?
But it was red and black.
I said, what's something about me?
You didn't say Tom Joyner, you didn't say Tom Joyner, you didn't say Rickie Spiler,
you didn't say Bill Higley, you didn't say Steve Harvey, you didn't say nobody black.
That's why it, you ain't never heard anybody black having a red and black night.
But we're sticking with it.
We're sticking with it.
I don't know what you would do.
We said.
We did.
We did.
Yeah, we did.
Well, we actually did wear black and red.
I think it was on the ship, right?
One night, yeah.
The rest of the time was white.
Right.
And that was a non-black person.
Y'all know.
But you're right.
You know, right.
We can't do that in any kind of.
Black people, I'm telling me right that,
you're all going to get cussed out.
Right.
I'm just letting you know.
Because they all going to show up in white
and be looking at y'all like,
oh, what are you like this?
Yeah.
You'll be like, is this maze?
In fact, we just performed in Winston-Salem.
his hometown.
Right?
A sea of white folk.
I told him.
I told you.
Listen, white linen gets sold out
a week before it may be a couple of time.
You can't find white linen nowhere in the city.
I'm just,
that's just real.
Right.
That's just real.
So I told, listen,
the only,
the only of the artists I can think of
that dictates the dress of the audience,
it was prints in purple.
And that actually wasn't always the case.
Right.
But I ain't never went to a, if you go to a May's concert,
you actually have white on, people look at you like,
did you know what you're doing?
Did you do?
Like, they look at you like, something wrong with you?
Are you okay?
Right.
Like, you're all right?
Are you all right?
So, okay, so, um,
about 27,
um,
where somewhere you would,
you would love to perform?
city or
a festival
place that you really would love
to do.
New Orleans. My first.
We're ready to go back to New Orleans.
Jazz Festival. Go back to New Orleans Jazz Festival
or Essence?
Well, we can do both. Both.
Let's get back in New Orleans.
We closed Essence for 10 consecutive years.
I know. I know. Yes, sir.
Oh, I know. Yeah, we love to go back.
So, Essence, are you listening?
I know, sir.
going to a younger kind of format from what I'm hearing.
Okay, let me real clear.
Eska can try to go to a younger format,
but grown people still pay the bills.
Yeah, okay, because broke-ass young people
ain't got no money.
Okay, so, no, I could see.
That's true.
My deal is, if you look at,
you just look at numbers.
So I'm 57, my parents are 79.
That's 79, I'm 78.
I'm 78.
The reality is, that is still a core audience.
and I get it serving multiple generations,
but Essus is a grown folk festival.
Yeah.
Okay, it is not a, it is not a young,
it's not an 18 to 35 festival.
Yeah.
It's a 44 plus festival.
Yeah.
So you better say, listen,
my unsolicited advice, Rich Dennis,
is if you're going to sit here and close it out,
if you talk about, if I'm essence,
I'm going to new addition in doing
what Ed Lewis did with y'all
say this is going to be a staple
that's going to be a closer
every year
Uncle Charlie is back
once it's health fully returns
same thing so they are
what made I believe what made
that festival unique was you knew
with May's closing out that was
a different level of energy
when folk
for that particular night
and I think I think sure having
different people every single year but they'll still
something about whether it's
new edition, whether it's maze, whether it's
earthwind and fire, it's like,
yo, that's a staple.
It's just one of those things. That's what I
would advise them to do.
Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I agree.
Y'all listening, I'm just saying.
Just saying, just saying. Just saying.
All right, so you said in New Orleans.
Anywhere else that you, that...
I haven't played D.C. yet.
That's right.
What the hell y'all been doing? You ain't played D.C. yet.
Well, because D.C. is a...
DC is a town.
It's a crotious platform.
Well, also because the May Sound,
also segues well with Go-Go.
Mm-hmm.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, we want to play.
It's about the promoters, actually.
We'll play anywhere.
Mm-hmm.
You know, just promoters, look, y'all know who we are.
A lot of them, I think, a little reluctant
because of Frank's not being here and they don't,
they're not following us.
They're just guessing, you know.
But if you follow us, you can at least see how we've been moving.
Yeah.
And know that, yeah, okay, it's a positive thing.
And also, but again, the sound is the sound.
And that's the thing.
Again, when I look at, when I look at so many of our groups,
I look at this thing historically, whether we're talking about temptations,
four tops, OJs, if you're talking about the Dales,
I mean, we can go on and on and on.
All of those groups have dealt with members coming,
and going, passing away, but the music still lives.
And then by the music still living,
it's still reaching, to be reaching new audiences.
Because you don't want, you don't want the music to die.
But the other thing is, it's not like you have
a lot of artists and groups that still have that sound
that touches you in the unique way.
Right.
You know, I'm gonna go to a show and man,
We're going to rock it.
We're going to party.
Because I've been to some shows, I'm like,
ain't nobody getting up.
So we just, just watching them on stage.
To me, that ain't a concert.
No, if you don't break a sweat,
like, my deal, if I go home the same way I left
and my clothes dry, that was a horrible damn night.
That was an awful night.
Right.
I can't do it.
Well, we're dripping in sweat by the time.
We're finished.
Yeah, but we're just going to get that.
We're still being true to the old, to the old maze.
Right.
And we're playing everything just like we played it.
Frank had a standard.
We stick with that standard,
try to maintain that audience.
Yeah.
Because they're little apprehensive a lot of times
when they spurt him and they see he's not there.
But we're still hitting it the same way.
Yeah, when you drop that beat, they're like,
all right, that's the cue.
Yeah.
Yeah, music doesn't change.
Maize music doesn't change at all.
Some, the members, yeah, but that's sound.
It's a stamp.
And I have to say they've been embracing me along with them, you know, because these guys have nothing to prove.
This is the sign, you know.
But, you know.
And Chris was a perfect fit.
He really was.
I mean, the way he was found, my lady, she goes on her phone, looks at things that interests her.
She came across him singing Joy and Pain and showed it to me.
And I was blown away.
on, great job.
And Bear knew him.
And then not remembering that he played with Regina and he was out.
And after that, he said, you told him what you said?
Well, no, no, they invited me on a Zoom call, right?
And they said, you know, we're vetting about, you know, three, four guys.
You know, and I started laughing.
I said, I said, fellas, the search is over.
You don't need to look at nobody else.
Not from an arrogant perspective, but I was like, you don't understand.
This was pre-justing to happen.
You see.
So, yeah, they started laughing to, but then they called me back and said, no, we're going with you.
Okay.
And he's a perfect fit.
And we love him.
Yeah, yeah.
Favorite song.
All right, so that's three before I let go.
Happy feelings.
Happy feelings.
All right, so we got three before I let go, two happy feelings, golden time a day.
You said, uh...
I like, thank you.
You said, thank you.
It's hard to just pick one, though, though.
Well, damn it.
You got only got a pig one.
It's called Narrowyed Yadal.
That's like saying, what's my favorite piece?
What's my favorite cake?
You can't name, you can't name lemon and chocolate.
It's called, it's called, it's not talking.
Just that's right.
You're like my favorite color.
I like black, I like red, I like future.
Anything else you want to say fun.
I'm the same.
That's the whole point of one.
We all want that thing.
Yeah, I'm just saying, you got to pick one.
That's the whole point.
And for me, it's because happy feelings we signed with Capitol Records.
And we were really, it was.
Y'all really had it.
Yes, sir.
And that's why it's one of my favorites.
Gotcha.
Yeah.
What's your favorite?
Let's see here.
Everybody?
Because again, you got slow, you got mid-tempo, you got up-tempo.
I absolutely, it does not get played a lot.
I already played it.
Feel the feeling.
Yeah.
Because again, you feel it.
Like, you just going to just...
It's a toe-tapper.
You just going to be rock.
And so that's what I love about it.
It's a high-energy song, and the title Nails it.
Feel the feeling.
Yeah.
Sound like an oxymoron,
but it's feel the feeling.
So that,
I mean, it's like,
if I'm like driving
and I want to sit here
and let's go,
boom,
from live in LA,
I'm putting that one on.
I'm with you on that.
Phil is my second.
Oh,
that's a toe tap.
I've always loved that.
And we do it now.
See, look at now.
See, there you go.
I'm in the
foot.
Yeah,
and we do it now.
I can go out on it.
That bad boy, that is.
That's the one for me.
Look, I hope folks check y'all out.
I'm definitely going to come see you.
I'm glad y'all stop by.
Good to see y'all handling your business.
And, again, just keep making folks smile and making them dance.
And again, if y'all go to a maze concert and y'all go home and you dry, yo-ass comatose.
I appreciate it.
That's a lot.
Thank you.
All right, folks.
And next week, September 10th will be the third anniversary of the passing of Frankie Beverly.
And we will air my one-on-one interview with Rome.
Rome was the one sitting closest to me who was wearing the black hat.
He, as I said, he is the last surviving original member of Mays.
He was the one who named the organization.
So that Roland with Roland, we will air.

And again, as I said, Friday, Friday would be the eighth anniversary.
The eight years since we launched this show,
September 4th, 2018.
Man, it has been a blast.
And so we're going to have a full house here in the studio.
We look forward.
to having folks here, and so we can't wait to,
but y'all to join us as well.
So let's look for a great big blowout show on Friday.
Yo, that's it.
I preach.
Oh, let me shout out Spelman.
So I ran into Spelman's BP Communications at NABJ,
and I said, yo, I don't have any Spellman gear
when I rock it on the show.
And so they sent me some stuff.
So let you show, y'all just keep it right there.
Hold on.
I'll come right back.
So they sent me some.
First of all, I got all kind of stuff over here, y'all.
because my man trombone shorty, he sent me some stuff too.
So I'm going to rock his shirt tomorrow on the show.
So let me shout out Spellman.
So Spellman sent this somebody at Spellman loves me, stuffed animal.
I certainly appreciate that.
Then, of course, when it gets a little chilly,
this Spellman cap, they sent, let's see, the Spellman.
Y'all, I never knew Spellman with the Jaguars.
I literally did not know.
So they sent me this rain poncho, and then this Spellman College mug.
And so I appreciate that.
And then, of course, they sent me this Spell House jersey as well.
So I appreciated folks as Spellman.
I told y'all I only rock, I only rock HPCU gear campuses that I've actually been to.
and so I appreciate that.
I've had some people.
So like Kentucky State,
somebody seems to something in Kentucky State,
you know,
they're fighting hard to,
they're fighting hard to hold on to their,
this HBCU distinction.
You know,
they're trying to turn them to a technical school.
And so we've been talking about that.
And so,
so Kentucky State,
y'all got invited brother.
And Livingston College,
somebody sent me a Livingston College,
Jersey.
I had never been
Livingston College.
Hold on where y'all located?
Y'all in Salisbury, North Carolina.
So y'all need to like invite a brother.
So again, so
and let's see here.
So a prayer view, y'all need to send
me some gear. That's
what I don't understand. How my two
home HBCUs,
I literally ain't got no
gear here. I ain't got
nothing from Texas Southern
which is literally across the street.
from my high school, Jackie's high school,
and Privy.
I have spoken, I did the commencement
at Texas Southern University.
So y'all said, I brought some gears
I can wear on the show.
So just so y'all know,
when y'all see me in HBCU gear
here on Rolla Martin Unfiltered,
it's because, again,
that's where I was spoken.
Hold on. Melva Turner, she's the president
of, I had that T-shirt on the other day,
and I actually found it.
I found it.
I'd already talked to President Turner.
I told her, I said,
I needed something from,
I needed something from Houston Tillerson.
And so she sent me some, some H.T. gear.
So I'm good.
So prayer review in Texas Southern,
Houston Tillerson,
here to y'all.
And Michael Soros,
you know you ain't invited me to speak at Bishop College.
So, come on, Michael, right there in Dallas, come on.
So, Dr. Melva Turner, this nice long-sleeved shirt right here.
I appreciate that.
This Houston-Tillison polo, that's right.
Pretty cool there.
This other Houston-Tillison, see Melville hooked the brother up.
So this Houston-Tillis shirt right here.
And I like these colors, because,
my jacket high school colors.
We crimson and gold.
So this other Houston Tillerson shirt.
And so there we go.
So I appreciate that.
Dr. Melville Turner
with her new 10-year contract at Houston Tillerson.
All right, y'all, that's it.
I'm going to see y'all tomorrow.
