Rotten Mango - #206: “Hollywood’s Cannibal” - The Dark Empire of the Hammer Family

Episode Date: October 17, 2022

It all started with a Hollywood divorce. The joint statement released by both parties seemed amicable enough, but the public wanted more. They wanted to know the intimate details of the relationship...s downfall. They say 50% of marriages end in divorce, so the odds weren’t in their favor to begin with, but nobody expected it to go down like this. Very quickly, a public divorce turned into allegations of assault, abuse, and cannibalism. One of Hollywood’s own leading men allegedly had a string of victims whom he wanted to eat. Texts about him wanting to cook their ribs, their skin, see their brains, and do horrible things to them were released. And once that broke the news, people started digging into his family history and they found an empire. An empire of ruthless, egotistical, sexually deviant men. Let’s talk about the Hammers. Starting point is 00:00:32 Welcome to this week's mini-sode of Rotten Mango. I'm your host Stephanie Sue, and I hate to do this to you, but let me take you back to 2020. Okay, I know, trauma. It was a rough time for literally everyone globally, even for celebrities. Celebrities were going through a tough time in 2020. Some of them tried to cope by singing Imagine. Others tried to be honest and transparent about what they were feeling. And I guess Army Hammer, the celebrity. I guess you could say he was one of those people.
Starting point is 00:01:01 And you're like, who the hell is Army Hammer? He was on social network, gossip girl, and we'll get into his acting roles in a second. But first, quarantine in 2020, army talked about how being in lockdown with his dad, his stepmom, his wife, and his two young kids made him so, so, so close to completely losing his mind. He said he felt like a trapped wolf that wanted to chew his own foot off. That's very interesting saying, wouldn't you say? Anyway, all of this sounds like something the public would praise him for. They'd be like, oh my god, this guy's so relatable and honest, right? Finally, a celebrity that's
Starting point is 00:01:37 giving us the truth without sugar coating their lives to make them seem picture perfect. Not too long after this, Army Hammer and his wife filed for divorce. Quarantine ruins a lot of relationships. This made sense, but still it just felt sad. And you're like, Stephanie, are you a gossip channel? What's going on? Okay, bear with me. There were so many videos of the couple out in public on red carpets. They look like they were so in love. Army would look at his wife Elizabeth with respect and it felt like he cherished her in their marriage. It felt like maybe he was one of the good ones. Both Army and his then wife, Elizabeth Chambers posted to Instagram, 13 years as best friends, soulmates, partners,
Starting point is 00:02:17 and then parents. It's been an incredible journey, but together, we have decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage. The initial thought was, maybe they just grow apart, parenting can do that, maybe the passion just wasn't there anymore, all very reasonable speculations of the public had, but if we know anything, it is that in Hollywood, things are always stranger than they seem. And not too long after the announcement of their split, an anonymous Instagram popped up, and she's remaining anonymous, which I can totally understand why. And the account posted intimate text messages and DMs from Army Hamers Instagram.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And no, this is not another Adam Levine, let me name my child after you type of thing. This was a lot, lot worse. She shared screenshots of army allegedly texting her that he wanted her to be his slave and he said very similar things to other women as well. He said things like how he wanted to cut off one of her toes to carry around in his pocket so that he could always keep her in his possession. He said that he wanted to eat her. He said, I am 100% a cannibal. Fuck. That's scary to admit.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I've never admitted that before. I've cut the hard out of a living animal before and eaten it while it was still warm. This is Instagram DM. Yeah. OK. Can somebody explain why are these people messaging people on Instagram DMs?
Starting point is 00:03:41 Like blue check mark and everything. I don't understand. Like, what's the thought process? I, okay, here's my theory. I think they get off on it. I think they get off on the thrill. Like they feel so unbeatable. The thrill of any day now that this can be made.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Yeah, mate. Maybe they feel so unstoppable in their lives that they think that nothing bad could ever happen to them. That's the only way I can kind of reason with it. Right? Yeah. So he said that. He also said, I want to see your brain, your blood, your organs, every part of you.
Starting point is 00:04:12 I would definitely bite it, or 100% try to fuck it. Not sure which, probably both. And really alarming. Keeping you on the floor with a knife against you, everything else seemed boring. You crying and screaming, me standing over you, I felt like a god. I've never felt such power or intensity. Army Hammer suddenly went from being not that well known of an actor, to Hollywood's cannibal.
Starting point is 00:04:37 That's what they called him. And to make matters worse, it was almost back to back. More victims started to come forward to share their stories. And once people started digging into Army Hammer and his family's history, a lot of shocking, nasty news started to pour out. I mean, we're talking about nepotism on crack. We're talking about an entire empire of ruthless,
Starting point is 00:04:58 egotistical, power-starving men. There's murder, death threats, billionaires, private planes, BDSM, drugs, blackmail, communism, freaking, Prince Charles, why is he everywhere? And potentially generations of sexually deviant men, because maybe it runs in the family. So let's talk about the Army Hammer family. And it's crazy, I never thought that I would cover this case because I felt like it was already extensively covered already. You know, the victims came forward and each time there
Starting point is 00:05:29 was extensive news coverage. But I was talking to a few friends and they were talking about how much they love the movie Rebecca. And I was like, wait, what? They're like the lead is so handsome, like he was so hot. I'm like, do you know that's army hammer, right? You know what he allegedly did, right? And they had no clue. One of them said, oh, I heard rumors. He you know that's Army Hammer, right? You know what he allegedly did, right? And they had no clue. One of them said, oh, I heard rumors, he's like a cannibal, but it's like a joke, like a meme. I'm like, what?
Starting point is 00:05:53 It's not a joke. Like apparently he did some pretty heavy serious things. Like the allegations against Army Hammer are not internet memes. They are so, so bad, but the internet kind of turned it into a meme. So just in case there are any people out there that think that what Army Hammer did is not that serious, or it's just like a he-he-ha-ha-canable moment, it is not.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So that is why we are diving into the Hammer family today. Now, as always, full show notes are available at RottenMinglePodcast.com. There's a lot of sources for today's episode, as well as a really good vanity fair piece that was done on the whole family. There is a docky series on this that recently came out, which is something, okay? The docky series has been questioned in the media because one of the main victims who was one of the first to come out really braved the wrath of the internet and all of army fans just tried to shred her apart. I mean, she put her whole soul into the line of fire to make sure that Army
Starting point is 00:06:48 Hannah did not continue to victimize other women. And she came out to say that she did not support the docuseries. So just keep that in mind if you're deciding on watching this, but just overall, a ton of sources will be listed. And with that, let's get into the messy life of the once billionaire hammer family. And speaking of billionaires, I just want to say that a lot of things that we are talking about today are alleged. That will be the word of today's episode, allegedly, suspicious, believable, yes, but all in all, alleged. On top of that, Army Hammer has been blasted
Starting point is 00:07:22 as a cannibal on every single platform on every corner of the internet And I just want to say there is no evidence that Army Hammer has acted on his cannibalism centered text messages At least as of right now from what we know right now Does that make the text messages less unsettling? Absolutely not, but um, we can't really call him a cannibal allegedly So please take everything I say with a massive grain of salt because allegedly but we can't really call him a cannibal allegedly. So please take everything I say with a massive grain of salt
Starting point is 00:07:47 because allegedly salt is a great seasoning and let's get into it. Being an actor is fascinating because I can only imagine how sucked into a role you get. You almost feel like you are the person that you're playing, the character that you're playing, you feel like you're living that life. I mean, I genuinely wonder how long it takes an actor to get out of character after filming
Starting point is 00:08:08 a movie? What's that guy's name that played Elvis? People say he's still in character. Like, a year after filming. I mean, I guess it depends on the actor. I feel like I would be stuck in the role for a long time. Even when I read a book, I'm not even pretending to be that character, but I'm stuck in that world for weeks after reading.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Army Hammer lived a lot of lives. In the social network, he played the real-life nemesis of Mark Zuckerberg, crypto billionaire twins, the Winkle Voss twins. Yeah, he played both of them. Straight up, they CGI'd his face onto another body, so he could be both of the twins. He and Mark Zucker had serious beef. And in Call Me By Your Name, Army Hammer plays Timothy Shalamet's love interest. They have a whirlwind romance, love story and rule northern Italy.
Starting point is 00:08:54 In gossip girl, he plays Serena Vanderwood's in love interest. But in the end, he was not the southern gentleman that she thought he was. He was a charity con man that was using her to get investors. And after four episodes on the show, he was gone. A lot of people speculate that he was kicked off the show prematurely because he did not get along with the other cast members. So there's some drama there. And in the movie Rebecca, he plays a rich widower who killed his wife for basically no reason, but somehow they made it into a love story with his second wife.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Look, the sky lived a lot of lives, played a lot of roles. But the one that he would be best known for is his real life role as an alleged cannibal wannabe. Now, it's a common saying that 50% of marriages end in divorce, and 100% of marriages end in death. But I would bet a very small percentage of divorces include videos of children's sucking toes and alleged cannibalism. What?
Starting point is 00:09:46 July 2020. Hight of lockdown. Just a few months prior, about half the world's entire population was under some sort of lockdown. So July 2020, army hammer and his wife Elizabeth Chambers had been quarantined in the Cayman islands, with army's parents, yeah. They announced to their fans that they're divorcing after a decade of marriage. They've got two young kids together and everything just burst into flames afterwards.
Starting point is 00:10:10 I mean, it escalated so quickly. So, some context, like I said, they have two young kids. And the amicable divorce turned into like this crazy custody battle real quick. At first, it was agreed that Elizabeth was going to get primary custody of both of their children. Because you know, Army is focusing on his acting career, it just made sense. So, Army left quarantining and the Cayman Islands, flew back to LA. And allegedly the plan was that Elizabeth was going to fly back to LA with the kids. Now, obviously, they're not going to be living together in the family house, but at least they'd be both in the same state so that they
Starting point is 00:10:42 could co-parent. But a few months later, Army changed his mind and filed for joint custody arguing that he had not seen his kids in months since July and now it's October. He tried to tell people magazine, you know, when I asked Elizabeth when she was coming home from the Cayman Islands, she just kept making excuses that the airports were closed. And I was trying to tell her through my attorneys that no, the flights are limited, but the airports are not closed, and that she and the children need to get back to the state's ASAP. I think the initial reaction was, oh my god, that's so horrible. Why would someone do such a thing?
Starting point is 00:11:14 Why would someone try to keep the kids away from the parent, right? But then there was that lingering question of, maybe there's a reason Elizabeth is keeping their children from him. So the public did some digging. And from first glance, Army seems to be a super-present dad that loved hanging out with his kids. He would tweet things like, am I a good parent because I set up an art station for the kids while the rain passes? Maybe. Am I a good parent because I'm drinking a screwdriver on a Saturday morning?
Starting point is 00:11:40 Probably not. So he's like one of those quirky Hollywood dads that's like, I'm a quirky parent. Like he's really playing into that role, but at least it seems like he's hanging out with his kids, right? But then they did a little more digging and they didn't even dig much
Starting point is 00:11:55 before they came across a video from a year ago. Not 10 years ago, but one year ago in 2019, the video that army posted to his own Instagram account. It was his two yearold son sucking on his toes Okay, and it was captioned this happened for a solid seven minutes Hashtag foot fetish on fleek and in the video Elizabeth the wife the then wife seems to be filming But she's heard saying this is not normal So okay, I get it. I have two nieces. It is normal for toddlers to put everything in their mouths
Starting point is 00:12:24 Now I don't know how normal the reaction is So, okay, I get it. I have two nieces. It is normal for toddlers to put everything in their mouths. Now, I don't know how normal the reaction is. I just can't imagine hashtagging flip fetish when posting about a two-year-old. It just feels a bit strange. And I also can't imagine why he's just letting him suck on his toes for that long. It's just really bizarre. Like, nobody is accusing him of anything, nothing illegal happened in the video, but it was just a bit socially strange. It became this big topic of, okay, that's weird. Would you guys ever let your kids do that? Probably not.
Starting point is 00:12:51 And then some people are like, well then you've never had kids. You don't understand, kids be doing some weird stuff, and you just gotta find the humor in it. It was just weird, okay? Now, once the divorce and custody proceedings were in full swing, it felt like the video had a much more sinister context attached to it now, like it was just bizarre. And with that, the whole scandal blew over.
Starting point is 00:13:12 January 1st of 2021 rolls around. Six months after the initial divorce announcement, an army predicted on Twitter that 2021 was going to be his year. He wrote, 2021 is going to kneel before me and kiss my feet. Because this year, I'm the boss of my own year. 2020 was a cheap shot no one was expecting. Now I know what we're up against. It's time to go to war.
Starting point is 00:13:35 No thai enemy, no thai self, and exploit the differences. Is he talking about COVID? Is he talking about his divorce? I mean, it's just a very bizarre narcissistic post, but overall, it was ultimately a wrong prediction. 2021 was not Army's year. Because less than two weeks later, an anonymous Instagram account came forward
Starting point is 00:13:54 to claim that during Army's marriage, she had had a four year long affair with him. She shared receipts of text messages, DMs from Army, and well, it wasn't just the affair that was the problem They were incredibly Disturbing text messages even if you were single even if you didn't have a wife and children this would have been Oh my god This is so scary and it's not like he's um just to clarify
Starting point is 00:14:22 It's not like army is just spamming her with messages. I mean, he kind of is, but they definitely were having an affair. So there is some sort of relationship going on. And it's not just he's like, I'm going to eat you on the cannibal. It's not like that per se, but it is kind of like that. Things just got really, really ugly, really traumatic,
Starting point is 00:14:40 really not OK, really fast. He even DMed her from his own Instagram account with a blue checkmark and everything, which again blows my mind. It has to be either they don't care or they don't think or they get off on the fact that they're so ballsy or they feel untouchable. I don't know what it is. It's bizarre. So he would DM my things like, you just live to obey and be my slave. I will own you. That's my soul, my brain, my spirit, my body. Would you come and be my property until you die? If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket, so I always have
Starting point is 00:15:15 a piece of you in my possession. He also wrote, I need your blood, I crave it, will you give it to me tomorrow? Don't forget that you are mine. Sino. There is nothing inherently bad about these messages. I just want to say, if this is a shared kink between two consenting adults, then I think it's perfectly normal. I mean, you guys are familiar from other episodes.
Starting point is 00:15:36 We have nothing but respect for consenting adults in the BDSM space. And anything I think the ones that are doing it correctly in BDSM have a much deeper understanding of sex and consent than people who don't even partake in BDSM because BDSM is literally all about safe, sane, and consensual. Like the whole kink of BDSM would not exist without consent. So this is not me dogging on kinks or BDSM. Like it's just, it's bizarre because the receiving end of army's messages, a lot of the victims don't necessarily, at least in the public opinion, respond in a way that feels comfortable in consenting. Like it's almost, they're not saying, no, I'm blocking you, but it's, you know, they're in this relationship where they've been ghastly, love-bombed, manipulated, they feel like they have to go along
Starting point is 00:16:20 with it, but you can clearly tell they don't want to. Later in text messages, he wrote her, I need to eat your entire body. I need to touch every part of you inside and out, but I want to consume every part of you. I want to bite pieces off of you. So when these initial allegations came out, yes, initial, because there are more victims that come out, I mean, honestly, the internet turned it into a whole meme. A lot of people went after the victim in this case, because I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:48 They were throwing around the stereotypical vile responses, like, innocent till proven guilty. Oh, you just want attention. You just want money. You want fame. You're clout chasing. You knew he was married. These types of allegations were thrown out of the victim
Starting point is 00:17:02 that came forward. And some people just decided to run with the cannibal allegations, but not in a good way. They turned it into a meme. People were joking about how Army Hammer was sexting like a cannibal. I mean, it was just really questionable jokes that made light of the situation, which honestly, for people like one of my friends who didn't look further into it, a lot of people genuinely thought it was a random internet celebrity meme. Like, the people that aren't into celebrity culture or true crime, they thought it was a meme.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Of like, oh, I mean, he's still in movies, so it must be like a joke. He's like, Cannibal. Which I can't even imagine being a victim of Army Hammer and seeing the internet meme, his cannibalistic text. And on one hand, I understand that Dark Humor is a way of people coping with bad news. And technically, they're not being nice to Army Hammer or supporting or supporting him but on the other hand it just makes light of the whole thing. Like I understand the shock and disbelief and confusion of like what he texted, what? I'm so confused, you know, but there were straight up mood boards of army hammer and cannibalism on Tumblr. Like people were out there romanticizing it. There's army hammer Instagram fan accounts, and people will comment on these pictures and
Starting point is 00:18:07 they'll say things like, I'll let him time you up any day. Like, it's just bizarre. So, back to the text messages. There were more that he sent victims, and they said things like, I want to see everything. I want to see your brain, your blood, your organs, every part of you. I would definitely buy it 100% or try to fuck it, not sure which, probably both. If I fucked you into a vegetative state, I would keep you, feed you, wash you, and keep fucking you until you are so sore and broken.
Starting point is 00:18:36 He talked about how he wanted to brand tattoo, shave the heads of his victims, and even make her cut a piece of her skin off and cook it for him. He graphically described how he wanted her to slit her wrist and use the blood as lubricant. He talked about how he was climaxing about the thought of breaking her bones while he ruptured. He also wrote to her about how he wanted to break her ribs and his obsession with ribs seems to be consistent because another victim alleged that he told her that he knew a doctor that could take out her ribs and he wanted her to cook it so he could eat it.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Now again, if this is a fantasy kink where it was all mutual and both parties were consenting to these types of conversations, not actually cannibalizing each other, but just fantasizing about it together, I get it. I'm not gonna judge. But the fact of the matter is the victim alleged, and I'm saying alleged, even though I personally believe the victims in this case, but technically because, you know, the court of law, she alleged
Starting point is 00:19:33 that she was by him for four hours straight in Los Angeles on one occasion. She said that he did things to her that she did not want to be done. She did not consent to it. And even afterwards, she confronted him and told him that she was terrified. She showed him that she was clearly traumatized with what had happened, and even told him that she was forced to call a suicide hotline, because she was so traumatized. She straight up told him that he damaged her completely, and he laughed it off. In the text message.
Starting point is 00:20:04 She claimed that he ripped her reportedly slammed her head against a wall, bruised her face, beat her feet so bad it hurt every time that she took a step for an entire week. She genuinely felt like her life was in danger and he had no concern for her well-being. And again, there have been some people who have harassed bullied and terrorized this woman because they don't believe her. And I just don't see the reason on why she would lie. To go up against someone that is so powerful that comes from generational wealth that is fans to support them, I just don't see what you could get out of that other than a world of pain because, I mean, we would be dumb to not acknowledge how society works. So, army allegedly texted her
Starting point is 00:20:39 along the lines of, if for some reason something goes wrong and my wife finds out about us, I will probably remove your head from your body. Like imagine how terrifying that is. So when all of this came out in 2021, almost like rapid fire, more victims came forward. There were also rumors circulating that army and Elizabeth's marriage had ended because she had found out about the affair and or affairs, because like I said, there wasn't just one, there was more. And side note, I know some people are gonna say,
Starting point is 00:21:05 well the victim still kept talking to him, even after a traumatic experience. They still met up with him. Okay, do we really have to highlight the whole power and balance? He's a famous actor, old money, allegedly great at love bombing, manipulating gas-lighting people. Come on, so this comes out. Army Hammer has dropped from his management company,
Starting point is 00:21:25 WME, and his publicist drops him. Army gets a new team, Hires an Attorney, who went ahead and decided to post screenshots of conversations between Army and the initial victim that made the anonymous Instagram account, which by the way, I'm not saying the Instagram account
Starting point is 00:21:39 because I don't know if she still wants to remain anonymous, but it's out there on the internet. And if you do go looking for it I suggest you leave some love on her page and support because I have seen so much hate go her way, which is so bizarre Anyway, he posted screenshots that were supposed to make him look better so pretty much it's her Having a sexual conversation with him and he's not in the mood and kind of having a sexual conversation with him and he's not in the mood and kind of turns down her advances. And I guess that they thought it would depict her as some sort of groupie fan that threw herself at Army
Starting point is 00:22:12 and he was this noble husband trying so hard to reject her advances. It's strange. Like there's mountains of evidence that she posted against him and instead of addressing those or debunking those, you show one half-hearted incident where you try to be a good person like it's weird. So shortly after the initial claims come out, another woman comes forward by the name of Courtney Voussegevic. And she's a Dallas-based business woman, she's an app developer, founder of the app called Flashed. It allows you to have easy access to make up in photography professionals in your area,
Starting point is 00:22:44 like even hair professionals. She's also a social media influencer, and she was a central part of the House of Hammer docuseries. But before we get into her story, we got to talk about why it's so terrifying to go up against the Army Hammer and his family. Because you're like, Army Hammer, he sounds like a delus celebrity. Why would anyone be scared? So originally, I thought Army Hammer was a stage name
Starting point is 00:23:05 because it sounds like a stage name. Army, Hammer, right? Some people thought the family owned the Arm and Hammer baking soda brand and the family actually joked about it. Yeah, they like play off on that joke and the whole motto of that company is called the standard of purity or something.
Starting point is 00:23:21 So this family is not pure. So I guess it's like a sick dark joke. The family is super sinister, more sinister than baking soda. They come from generations of oil money. And a lot of the information for the family comes from Army's own aunt, Casey Hammer. So she's estranged from the Hammer family. She wrote a tell-all book about her life and what it was like to be a part of the shady Hammer family. She said, you know the show's succession? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:49 The one that we have been obsessed with? Well, it's about a billionaire family that own a media company and they have their fingers in controlling the narrative that the whole country watches. They are politically heavily involved behind the scenes. All the children are fighting with this cold father, ruthless businessman to take over his business, and the whole show just indicates that the idea of family goes out the window
Starting point is 00:24:13 when a few billion dollars are involved. Yes. Yeah. So, we're casing Hammer, so that she had to turn it off, the whole show, because it reminded her too much of her family, and it was traumatic.
Starting point is 00:24:24 So... So sad. Yeah, that is the hammer family. And it all starts with a Russian businessman, family patriarch, Julius Hammer. This is army's great, great grandfather. Julie. Great, great grandfather. Wow. Generational wealth. So Julius was a doctor that moved from Soviet Russia to the United States. And this is not one of those I'm chasing the American Dream stories. Julius Hammer was a well-connected, high-powered doctor
Starting point is 00:24:54 with a lot of politicians as friends. He was actually friends with Lenin, so, um, wow, when he gets to the US, he started a very successful company called AlliedDrog. He's living his best life until he illegally gave the wife of a Russian diplomat an abortion. And a few days later, she died. So he was arrested, convicted of first-degree manslaughter, sentenced to three and a half years to 12 years in prison, and okay, the family has really, really, really questionable
Starting point is 00:25:24 stuff happen with each son that they have have so we're gonna break it down. Julius' son is Armand. Armies great grandpa and the one that he's named after. So Armies full name is Armand you know. Now he takes over the business and if Julius was politically well connected Armand was even more so thanks to his father and side note allegedly Julius was a KGB officer? Yeah, the KGB. The USSR's infamous spy unit. If you want to know more, check out the people who spy on us episode from Rotten Mango. That's a good one. Now, back to Armand, which, um, his name is Armand, because Arm and Hammer, and you like wait the baking soda company. No arm and hammer is the symbol of communism in Russia
Starting point is 00:26:09 So arm and arm on the guy allegedly worked closely with the Soviet Union in order to gain influence and power in the US And he just did some shady shady things like he would come to the US to sell people what he claimed was the Romanov Treasure, but it was just mainly junk taken from lost and found lockers of Moscow hotels. Like there's a lot to unpack with this guy. Regardless, Armand had a Russian wife named Olga, and a son with her named Julian, a play on his dad's name Julius, right?
Starting point is 00:26:38 But like more American, Julian, yeah. And it's a speculation, so don't quote me on this, but Armand wanted to distance himself from his Russian roots in order to succeed more than his father had in the US. Now, I mean, clearly the US and Russia never really had a great relationship. So he really doesn't want to be like, hey, guys are Russian, right? So he divorces his Russian wife, searches for an American woman to marry, but he was just kind of upset that he couldn't throw away his Russian son, Julian. Allegedly, he even forced Julian to take a paternity test, and he was disappointed to find out that was his kid.
Starting point is 00:27:14 So it's not like a wife that he can just throw away. It's a child, you know, so he's like, fuck. Allegedly, some sources alleged that Armand always held a grudge against Julian because he was Russian. Not that he could control it. I mean, Armand is held a grudge against Julian because he was Russian. Not that he could control it. I mean, Armand is Russian, so I don't get it. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's just really bizarre behavior. And it said that he was disappointed, you know, that he had to keep him.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And anyway, after the divorce, Armand married his second wife, Angela. And they were married for 10 years before their divorce. And Angela said this about Armand. Mary for ten years before their divorce, and Angela said this about Armand. He willfully, maliciously, deliberately employed tactics and techniques and practices calculated and designed to destroy my will. Allegedly, Armand threatened to beat her brains out and held up a metal pipe while threatening her. Angela described Armand as a master of psychological warfare,
Starting point is 00:28:07 and that was his second marriage. And then he married a wealthy American woman by the name of Francis, and he convinced her to invest a ton of her own money into a failing oil company by the name of Occidental Petroleum. And with her investment, she was able to name him CEO. And Armand, the ever clever, ruthless businessman, turned the entire company around. He started turning big oil money profits.
Starting point is 00:28:35 How you ask? Superior business acumen? No. Armand treated his whole life in business like some sort of Tom Cruise movie. The guy would have secret recorders hidden in his cufflinks. He would bribe politicians, no really, in an exposed audio recording he was caught bribing the president of Venezuela. He would record their crimes, blackmail the politicians with them so he had people in his pockets. I mean he was really into it. Allegedly he was also into money
Starting point is 00:29:01 laundering, using art fraud to fund Soviet espionage. Like the guy ribed his way to the top of the oil business. And side note, at the height of the game for the company, they were among the 20 biggest companies in the United States. And it is said, yeah, it said that our bond at one point was probably one of the richest men in the world. He was considered a billionaire at the time, highly influential, which his net worth gets a little sus later. I'm gonna explain.
Starting point is 00:29:30 I mean, he literally felt like he was in the movies. He would show up, throw brief cases of cash around, and he said that's how he got the job done. He contributed heavily to political campaigns of presidents like Nixon, which side note, Armand faced felony charges for obstructing justice in the Watergate scandal for President Nixon. And later, George Bush senior pardoned him because he was a big political contributor. And Armand would smile, and allegedly his
Starting point is 00:29:59 favorite saying was, the person with the gold makes the rules. And that's not the only thing that he quote got away with. One of Oxy's biggest oil platforms called Piper Alpha had exploded in sync. The oil and gas platform was located in the Northern Sea, maybe 120 miles from Scotland. It was considered the world's worst offshore oil disaster in terms of lives lost and industry impact. 165 men killed, 30 bodies were never recovered, 61 workers escaped and survived, but they were
Starting point is 00:30:33 injured and even horribly disfigured. Armand took control of the narrative. He framed the incident as this big tragedy that was ripping his heart apart and he was devastated. But let's be real. The working conditions at Piper Alpha were abysmal. Safety procedures and measures were routinely ignored for the sake of higher profits.
Starting point is 00:30:52 All our mom cared about was money, that's it. And after being broken up about the incident allegedly, never went to visit the victims in hospitals. He never attended any funerals of the victims. He just publicly voiced deep sadness. It's very much giving thoughts and hospitals. He never attended any funerals of the victims. He just publicly voiced deep sadness. It's very much giving thoughts and prayers. What if comparing car insurance rates was as easy as putting on your favorite podcast?

Starting point is 00:31:37 not available in all states or situations, prices vary based on how you buy. Why would you break into these apartments? For money, for drugs, whatever was in there? Why aren't you afraid of getting caught at doing this? No, who's going to catch us? What a police! It was the height of the crack era, and instead of locking up drug dealers, some New York City cops had become them. I would suit up in my uniform and we're going to want some drug dealers and I know how
Starting point is 00:32:09 to do it really well. This is the inside story of the biggest police corruption scandal in NYPD history and the investigation that uncovered it all. Did you consider yourself a rat? 100% I saved my soul just like everybody else does. Listen to and follow the set, an Odyssey originals documentary podcast series available now in the Odyssey app, Apple podcasts,
Starting point is 00:32:33 or wherever you get your shoes. I'm not a big guy, man, but I love being a 30-month-old. No investigation into Piper Alpha occurred and no charges were filed against Oxy. So yeah, the guy was wild, and he kept busy. Which side note, apparently Armand was really into his image, he hired a ghost writer to write a memoir about him that was called Not by His Dad All, I'm sure. The remarkable life of Dr. Armand Hammer. What?
Starting point is 00:33:03 Who even wants to read that? That's what I'm saying. Yeah, just overall, a humble dude in his private Boeing 727 plane with his good old friend's Prince Charles. And you're like, Oh, what? How do you be friend Prince Charles? Not that anyone would want to, let's be real.
Starting point is 00:33:21 But if you wanted to, right, how would you do it? Here's what Armand did. He donated $250 million to Prince Charles' charities. Jesus. $250 million. So that's how you do it. And apparently, Armand threw this huge gala for Charles in the United States.
Starting point is 00:33:40 And at that gala, Charles is infamously quoted, saying, how on earth do they expect us to get anything done without money. It's just a very privileged, gross, weird. What are you even talking about respectfully? Your Highness. Other friends of our mom included Senator Al Gore senior, FDR Reagan, Nixon, George W. Bush. Wait, you're talking about Prince Charles? He's King now. Yeah, okay, okay, yeah, okay, yeah, he's King now. Yeah. My bad, your highness, your majesty. So just a simple man living in a simple land. Apparently he was so well connected politically that is that he even convinced the Chinese government to lend two pandas to the LA zoo for the Olympics that were held in LA.
Starting point is 00:34:30 So yeah, I'm so confused. And when he wasn't rubbing elbows with shady presidents, English royalty, and China's national treasures, the panda, he was cheating on his wife. Okay, this story is absolutely insane. Like, who does this? But apparently, our mom had a ton of mistresses. But his favorite mistress was Martha Kaufman. She worked for his company as an art consultant. And you're like, why does an oil company need an art consultant? Same question. Well, he invested heavily into one of the oldest art galleries in New York
Starting point is 00:35:01 City, one we have talked about, one that has taken up space in the true crime world. The note, the art gallery, you know what I'm talking about? Mm-hmm. Oh yeah. So, if you don't know, let me catch you up to speed. One of the oldest, most respected, renowned art galleries in New York City. And, basically, they were selling fake work. They straight up sold a fake Jackson Pollock painting for $17 million.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I mean, they sold close to $100 million worth of fake work to rich elites of the world. I know who's crying, right? And they have been sued to oblivion and backed by wealthy hedge fund donors, trust fund babies, pretty much everybody that exists. And it came out that the Hammer family was an investor and they essentially used the gallery's bank account as a personal piggy bank and bought like a million dollars worth of rose voices with it. Oh, what? They were like a rose voice went to Paris, they smell like a million dollars just on fun stuff. Just the, the connections.
Starting point is 00:36:00 No, just the truth behind art. Oh. Like, is our really art at this point? No, I- It's so hard to understand this. Like, okay, there's true art. There are people that I know are so passionate about it. But then this game of art with these galleries and these,
Starting point is 00:36:17 some of these museums, it's like theft and tax evasion and the rich elites' sick joke on the rest of the world is how it feels. Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, it's wild. Now anyway, Francis, the woman who paid for Armand's success, essentially found out about the whole fair affair between him and Martha, the art consultant, and she was pissed. So Armand was like, okay babe, I love you, I'm gonna break it off with her.
Starting point is 00:36:45 He had Martha legally changed her name to Hillary Gibson, forced his mistress to wear blonde wigs, glasses, changed her appearance with makeup, and it continued seeing her. And anytime his wife was like, hey, who's that blonde lady you're with, he's like, oh, that's my new secretary, I just hired her. Her name is Hillary Gibson. What? It works. What? It works. What?
Starting point is 00:37:05 Yeah, no. He was dating Martha Slash Hillary for another 10 years. I know. I'm literally as mind blown to you. I don't understand. It's a very creative solution at that year. Yeah, it's creative and so bizarre. And also, who are these people?
Starting point is 00:37:22 Why are they so balzy? It was so intense. Martha said that he had, OK, this is where I get serious again. He had extremely humiliating sexual demands, which does that remind you of anyone? Seems like it runs in the family allegedly. And he allegedly wanted her to be quote, on demand 24, seven.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Like it was just a lot. She felt like she had to follow through. She felt like there was no way out. He was ever present, controlling, possessive. He promised to take care of her and her children after his death. But once he died, she found out that he had been left out of the will. What? Yeah. She has been. Yeah. So she got nothing.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Okay, okay. So, um, oh, but before he died, Armand had the son Julian. Remember the Russian son he seemingly held a grudge on? Well, it's that that his son Julian was kind of smart, question mark. Some people are like, no, he was really smart. He just never really used his brain. Some people are like, he was an idiot. So, I guess it just depends, right?
Starting point is 00:38:19 It's like the whole, he had a potential argument. Now, except Armand just seemed to constantly pick at him and expressed consistent disappointment with every little thing that Julian did. Some people in the family speculate that Julian never got any attention from his dad unless he went and just stirred the pot, unless he did very bad things.
Starting point is 00:38:39 So it's like that stereotypical rich boy crying for attention from his busy parents. And like, maybe we should feel bad for him for a second, but we really shouldn't, because he murdered someone. On Julian's 26th birthday, he had this party. And there was an old college roommate of his name, Bruce, that showed up. And they had made like a coin flip bet for $500,
Starting point is 00:39:01 who's bizarre. And I guess Bruce owed him like $500. And apparently allegedly, the two of them were also fighting over Bruce's wife, like Julian wanted Bruce's wife, but Bruce was like, that's my wife dude. What are you saying? Allegedly. Anyway, Julian shot and killed him. Our mom swooped in, hired the best attorney in town, paid him $500,000 in cash, and Julian got off with the claim of self-defense. The charges were dismissed.
Starting point is 00:39:30 So we have Julius, the KGB spy, and a legal abortion giver. Then we have Armand, the wife cheater, art gallery fraud, just oil dude. Then we have Julian, the killer killer allegedly self-defense killer. And then Julian had two children Michael and Casey. So Michael is Army Hammer's dad. And Casey is his aunt and Casey's the one that exposed her family's dark secrets in a self-published book called Surviving My Birthright. She said that living as our mom's granddaughter was miserable. it was straight up like the show succession, there was no love in the family. She said, and I quote, God forbid you did anything wrong
Starting point is 00:40:11 in front of his friends. You couldn't wear the same dress twice to his Gallup parties. On the outside, we had to be the perfect family. The behind the scenes, Armand used to make his own son and his own grandchildren make appointments to even see him or even talk to him. She said her grandpa kept tabs on everyone in the family. She would be on the phone here, click in the beginning, and she knew that that phone call was being recorded. Armando, yeah, he has a weird thing for recording conversations, like Armando was obsessed
Starting point is 00:40:39 with it. It sounds like Casey's being paranoid, but like he literally recorded everything. The guy had a secret audio recorder in his cufflinks. Like why? I guess blackmail. Oh, okay, okay, that's right. Like who wants to blackmail their own grandchildren? Armand, allegedly.
Starting point is 00:40:55 Casey said you have to be careful with who you befriend, who you date, who you associate with, because grandpa literally pulls the strings and you are brainwashed from the day of your birth to think with every decision Will grandpa approve of this? Will grandpa take me off the will? Yeah, exactly, but there are more serious accusations that were thrown in the book as well Casey claimed that her father Julian was violent with their mother She said that she routinely heard them yelling at each other and on multiple occasions She had witnessed her father slap her mother across the face so violently that blood splurded
Starting point is 00:41:28 over the front of her mom's nightcown. She said that sometimes her mom would come and get her in the middle of the night, wake her up so that she could take her children to safety while Julian calmed down. Casey claimed her mother tried to divorce Julian and her mom, the dad would swoop in and say, if you leave, you're going to leave with nothing. And she did leave with nothing. The hammer attorneys destroyed Casey's mom in court. Julian ended up only paying $200 a month in child support. Casey said she went to live with her mother and Michael stayed with her father, right? Which side note, other very dark allegations were made in the book.
Starting point is 00:42:05 She Casey claimed that Julian, her own father had sexually abused her as a child, that he was abusive to other family members, and just a lot. Which interesting side note, Casey said that she once asked her grandpa or mom to why he didn't just run for president, and he told her and I quote,
Starting point is 00:42:23 there simply isn't enough power there. And yeah, okay. So it's just really wild. Anyway, she moves on with her mom and Michael stays with Julian. And it's that that Julian was always dealing with the stress of our mom rejecting him, his own father's rejection. So he coped by turning to alcohol, drugs and parties. And he also taught his son, Michael Michael to do the same exact thing.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Because remember, Casey and their mom left, so it's just the two of them in the house. They left partying, allegedly, guns, sex, drugs, that was their jam. It's alleged that this all-made grandpa Amand annoyed because he's frustrated. He built this empire that seemed untouchable, and he wanted someone to take over, be the heir. It's literally succession. And his son Julian was not competent in his eyes, he was unreliable, and his grandson Michael was, and, quote, not as bright and more interested in a playboy lifestyle than world domination, by the Anity Fair.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Casey's said that the first time she came to visit her dad after the divorce, the entire house was in a cloud of smoke. And on the coffee table, there was a giant bowl, like a sugar bowl. But instead of sugar, it was overflowing with cocaine, like a help yourself treat bowl. Casey claimed that she always saw her dad around quote, housekeepers, but she knew that they weren't housekeepers because they were always half naked and they were pretty much on top of her dad all the time. Casey said she vaguely remember seeing polaroid photos of her father's housekeepers and suggestive positions
Starting point is 00:43:49 and a very explicit photo of a super young woman performing filatio. She also claimed that her brother Michael, army's dad, was just like their father. Michael would have sex with her friends. She would find polaroids of orgies in his room, tons of cash, drugs, even a gun in her brother's room. Joseph claimed that her father, Julian, had an alarming interest in young woman, particularly anyone that his own son was dating. Yeah, allegedly Julian loved his own son's girlfriends, and it's been claimed that he shamelessly offered a million dollars to his own son
Starting point is 00:44:21 if he could have his girlfriend. Now keep in mind, Michael was a teenager at this point and his girlfriend was 19. So this is all allegedly happening at a bar. They get into a fight, police are called, and they both just get a slap on the wrist because they're rich. They're both allowed to drive home and their cars drunk, and the insane part is that Michael's 19-year-old girlfriend left with his dad and allegedly lived with Julian
Starting point is 00:44:43 for the next nine months. Like, I can't even imagine growing up in a place like that where your father is stealing your girlfriend. They just got away with all kinds of shit because they were rich. And if you're like, why would Julian do such a thing to his kid? It's speculated that Armand didn't really believe in Michael to be like the smartest guy on the block, but he liked Michael a lot more than his son. He favored his grandson for sure. So it almost seemed like Julian was in competition with his own son. That's so sick and twisted. Kasey said that sometimes her father would pull out his gun and just shoot it at the wall for
Starting point is 00:45:17 shits and giggles. And speaking of guns, a former housekeeper by the name of Kathy said that she worked for Julian to support her newborn son, but eventually he pressured her and convinced her into an affair. And she said it was just terrible. He was controlling. He was quick to draw his gun whenever he got angry or when things weren't going his way. I mean, she was terrified. Allegedly, one time he pulled out his gun while her newborn baby was in the room and the gun went off, but thankfully her baby was not harmed. And that was the last straw. She packed up and left. And it was quite the shithill. And when our mom died, there was close to allegedly $200 million on the table.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Now I say allegedly because it's speculated that most of our mom's funds are an offshore accounts. So whatever his net worth is, is probably a lot more because this is what he's claiming he has in the US. And almost immediately, the family goes to war with one another for it. I'm talking war. In total, there were more than 100 claims and lawsuits filed against our Mons estate. A lot of people wanted a piece of that pie.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Mistresses of our Mons were popping up claiming their stake of the oil fortune, old business partners, friends, jilted lovers, jilted business partner, like it was crazy. Michael, his own grandson, just hours after his grandpa died, went to Armand's house with five cars to load up valuables and drive them home.
Starting point is 00:46:39 There were arguments about Armand's house, so the house was owned by his third wife, Francis, and she left it in her will that the house would go to her niece when she passed. So now that both of them are dead, it was supposed to go to her niece. But it's said that the hammer children were really unhappy about this, they wanted the freaking house. And to add to their frustration, Julian, Armand's son, and his two grandkids, Casey and Michael, sat down to be read Armon's will.
Starting point is 00:47:05 They found out that Armon was only leading them a tiny portion of his estate, a measly $40 million. And most of it was just going to one person Michael, the grandson, army's dad. Now if you think $40 million is not a lot of money, okay, it is a lot of money, but it's speculated that he has a lot more money and offshore. Counselor also left're also left to Michael. So nobody really knows how much Michael is worth and the way that he donates to charities and spends his money makes it seem like he's worth a lot more than $40 million. So he got the majority of the pipe, actually.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Oh, like all of it. So Armando and San Julian got $250,000. What? Yeah. What? Yeah, Casey, the granddaughter got $250,000. Wow, the one that ran away from the house got the same amount as his own son. Yeah, and you're like, wait, why is she getting $250,000 and her brother is getting millions? Which side note, they had half siblings too that are Armand's grandchildren technically just by a different wife like Julian's kids But by a different wife
Starting point is 00:48:09 They got nothing. I don't know why so you're like why did Casey get 250k while Michael the brother got millions some speculate Sexism because this isn't at the point where Casey exposed them or anything. She just lived with her mom But she was still heavily with grandpa's life. Yeah Casey said that she was just never seen as a valuable asset to our mom. He always told her, essentially, run along Casey and you look pretty. Like, don't worry about a single playing in your little thoughtless head. Because you're a little girl. That was right at the will.
Starting point is 00:48:39 And Casey said it was really shocking because, mean 250k their life was turning upside down They're money faucet had effectively turned off. They had no money to keep up their mortgage their lifestyle Like it's a life-changing moment, right? But um, slightly comically our mom's Rolls-Royce was going to Michael and Julian was up in arms about it He was pissed He wanted the Rolls-Rice. And Casey had to bring him back down to Earth and let her father know, Hey, dude, forget the fucking car.
Starting point is 00:49:11 You're gonna be out on the street because nobody's paying your mortgage. What the fuck? Yeah, nobody's paying for your anything. You only have 250k. So fuck the car. Like, this is how out of touch these people are. He's like, I wanted the white Rolls-Rice. Wow. Oh fuck the car. Like this is how out of touch these people are. He's like, I wanted the white rolls rice. Wow.
Starting point is 00:49:28 Which, okay, now I know it sounds like rich people problems, right? I mean, 250K is a lot. Nobody gets that type of inheritance. Nobody gets 250K handed to that, right? But Kasey said that she had no financial literacy. I mean, she was raised in excess. She knew nothing about how to save money, invest money. Her dad, Julian, he was a spender. Like, that's how they were raised. Did they spent without a
Starting point is 00:49:51 care for tomorrow because their money spout would never end. So Casey spent all the money, and now she has to support herself. She's working at a home depot. She gets by eating canned soup and sandwiches. And she said, the weirdest feeling and the saddest part I'm sure is that her brother, Michael, could just give her one of the family paintings that he doesn't care about. That's what I'm saying. And she would be set for life. Yes, I just don't get how people can be so greedy. I don't even know if it's greedy. Greedy is someone's like, I want more.
Starting point is 00:50:25 I want more, I want more. But this is just kind of hardless. Even someone with like one percent of sympathy would like, hey, here is something. Like imagine you give $100 to your sibling and they're set for life. You never have to worry about them financially. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:50:41 Even if you don't like them, even if you disagree with some of their actions, as long as they're not a horrible person, I would imagine all of us in a heartbeat would give $100 to our sibling. Yes. Just almost for peace of mind. Yes.
Starting point is 00:50:55 But he's like, no. That's so weird. It's bizarre. And of course, her speaking out against her family eventually did not help her financial situation, but she said that she was happy to at least break free from the toxic hammer genetic trail, Others, her speaking out against her family eventually, did not help her financial situation, but she said that she was happy to at least break free from the toxic hammer genetic trail, which side note about the financial situation of the hammer family.
Starting point is 00:51:13 Like I said, it's considered that he's worth a lot more. So Michael's worth a lot more than 40 million. Just to put it in perspective, before Armand died, he had invested a hundred million to build a museum that he called the Hammer Museum. So yeah, they were rich. I just can't imagine that all yet left was 40 million. Right, it doesn't make sense. Which by the way, the museum does not exist anymore. I mean, it does, but it's not called the Hammer Museum. Michael gave it to the UCLA Art Department, which speaking of Michael, let's talk about Army Hammer's parents. His dad is Michael and his mom is Drew Mowbly.
Starting point is 00:51:48 She met Michael Hammer by chance on a plane one day. Michael was hungover, passed out, woke up on a random seat next to Drew, and the rest was history. They got married that year, had Army the next year. So, okay, the thing about Drew. Super devout Christian. I mean, super devout. It's that she tried to help Michael with his problems with drinking and drugs,
Starting point is 00:52:10 and he would even later say at one point, when I accepted Christ, the bad experiences didn't just stop, but they started dwindling. And to be fair, the couple did do a lot of charitable work. I mean, I don't know how good are beneficial the charities that they funded were, but they would donate a ton of money like over $10 million.
Starting point is 00:52:25 A lot of it to Christian causes, a lot of it to non religious good causes, and the family, they were just living that rich old money life. They moved to the Cayman Islands for a while. That's where Army Hammer grew up. Cayman Islands, notorious for off-dirt bank accounts. I'm just saying. Okay, that wouldn't have just saying. Anyway, they moved back to California. They owned a 21 bedroom mansion in the coveted area of Pasadena. Oh, sometimes they moved to the fucking Pacific Palisades. Another coveted, really rich area, like old money area,
Starting point is 00:52:59 which I know the house did burn down and it resulted in $15 million worth of damages. So I'm just assuming the houses worth a lot more than that. And Michael had his fair share of scandals. Sure, he might not have killed someone like his father, but he had some strange scandals. It's alleged that Michael had a sex throne. Allegedly, a giant seven-foot tall throne and the throne had a seat that had a hole in
Starting point is 00:53:22 it, like a toilet, like a throne toilet. But that hole was connected to like a cage, and apparently the hammer coat of arms, like the family crest is painted on the seat, and allegedly somewhere out there, someone has a picture of Michael sitting on the throne while holding the hair of a blonde woman who is sitting in the cage smiling.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Vanity Fair asked Michael's team about it, and essentially they said, oh my God, these are like gag gifts. Like it was from like a friend after his divorce. Like he, he, he, we're so funny. Like we're funny men. Gag gift, like you know how you give like a funny mug? This is like the rich version of it.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Here's my thing. Normally I might be inclined to believe in gag gifts, but Hollywood, Ben, rich men, powerful men, a sex zone seems very on brand. Like what do I know? Maybe it believe in gag gifts, but a Hollywood-ben, rich man, powerful men, a sex zone seems very on-brand. But like, what do I know? Maybe it's a gag gift. Which side note? Again, all of it is a legit.
Starting point is 00:54:12 My whole existence is a legit, because this family is also known to have some of the most powerful ruthless attorneys on their side, and they are very lawsuit happy. So I'm terrified. But if I'm terrified, think of how terrified the victims are to speak out. Again, I just don't see why anyone would make this up. So I'm terrified, but if I'm terrified think of how terrified the victims are to speak out again I just don't see why anyone would make this up Now anyway Michael and Drew they have two kids together and then they divorced Michael would later go on to remarry a spiritual healer from a four-season spa by the name of Misty
Starting point is 00:54:38 And he proposed on the 4th of July and he made the proposal patriotic themed He said you know red wine and blue first of all he proposed with a seven-and-a-half-carat diamond ring. He gave her a red alligator berkin, a white Rolls Royce, and his eyes were blue, red, white, and blue. I want to die. I literally want to die. What? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:00 I don't know if it's romantic or not. I think not. Yeah, it makes me want to gag. So this family, this is the environment that Army Hammer was raised in. An army claimed that he is not some spoiled trust fund, baby. He said he grew up in fucking paradise in the Cayman Islands.
Starting point is 00:55:18 And yes, their family had paintings of Gorbachev, the former USSR leader Gorbachev, and they were gifted by Gorbachev. So, yeah, just not spoiled at all. You give someone a painting of yourself. Yeah, that's... Here you go. Hate myself in your house. Sounds like a USSR leader, type vibe, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:44 But Armies, I was raised with good values. He said he wasn't spoiled because his mom drew. So, um, yeah, remember, she was very religious. He said that she grew up in the depression era, and she made sure to raise her kids as if they weren't wealthy. She didn't want them spoiled. So, he said, and I quote, if other kids were giving $10 allowances,
Starting point is 00:56:03 she would make it a point to give me $7. This sounds like one of those rich people's stories that I don't necessarily believe, but who knows. Army said because of this, he was financially independent from his family throughout his acting career. He said he never asked them for money, even when he was so broke, he was struggling to buy diapers for his kids.
Starting point is 00:56:19 Which side note, if for any moment you liked Drew, let me just run it for you. Army said in an interview that his mom refused to go see his film that he starred in, called me by your name, the one where he was in a gay relationship with Timothy Shalamay, because she didn't believe in gay marriage, and same sex couples, so yeah, just putting that out there before we were like, yeah, we stand a non-spoiled queen. No, we don't. Speaking of Army's career, he had a few solid peak moments
Starting point is 00:56:47 in his career, but overall, even before the allegations of abuse, he just was not that popular. Most of the movies he starred in, he was either a side character, or if he was the main character, they were box office flops. Like it's kind of said that his wife Elizabeth Chambers was the more strong, grounded, entrepreneurial one of the two. She was a successful businesswoman, she was a mom, and also a victim in all of this,
Starting point is 00:57:10 which side note, vanity fair dug up that there might have been more indications of trouble in their marriage before their split. For example, Army Hammer had a very, just weird, unfiltered interview process where he just said strange things. Like, he told Elle magazine that he had a violent interaction with a man without a home. He's just like, yeah, I got into a fight with a guy. It's like, why are you so proud of that?
Starting point is 00:57:33 And he also commented, you know, my wife says that I have a frontal lobe issue. You know, your frontal lobe controls your danger response? Like, whoa, I shouldn't be doing this. Okay, red flag. And to playboy, he said this about his marriage. I used to be like a dominant lover. I liked the grabbing of the neck and the hair and all of that.
Starting point is 00:57:50 And then you get married and your sexual appetites change. And you can't really pull your wife's hair. I mean, it gets to a point where you say, I respect you too much to do these things that I want to do. Yikes. Okay, this is giving Madonna horror complex. You know what that is? Like, when a guy, they only categorize women as two things. A saint that they put on a pedestal that they can no longer sexually degrade.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Or horse, that's it, just two. But I feel like he's lying about the wife part. I mean, I think he's lying, but I also don't know. Like, I don't know. I feel like I could see it because there have been a lot of instances where people will cheat on their wives because they put their wives on this pedestal and that's like their facade. That's like their fake image and then they go and they sexually abuse woman, mistresses, you know. So it's weird. He later apologized for saying that and said that he was super drunk during the interview. But also to Elle Magazine, he said, and I believe this is after the divorce, he said, and I quote, one chick tried to stab me while we were having sex. She was like, true lovers leave scars and you don't have any.
Starting point is 00:58:54 And then she tried to stab me with a butcher knife. They continued to date seven months after that. I don't know, just the way he talks. One chick tried to stab me. Like, it just feels like the guy doesn't really have respect for a woman as the vibe I'm getting. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:59:09 Anytime someone's like, anyway, this one chick I was talking to, I'm like, mm, out the door, I'm gone. I don't need to hear the rest of that. What are you gonna say? That chick is crazy. She's crazy. She's like, she's obsessed with me.
Starting point is 00:59:19 No, she wasn't. Okay, she probably called you like one time, get over yourself. It just seemed overall, Army had a bit of a wild streak, especially after the divorce. And he probably got it from his dad and his grandpa. They all seemed to be obsessed with partying and excess, which side note, the wild streak is referencing his partying habits. The wild streak does not include and justify alleged assaults and abuse. So his wild streak, after the divorce, included him getting a ton of tattoos. One was EGBA, which stood for everything's gonna be all right.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Another one just said chaos and he said he liked it because he wants his life to be chaos. He also had a finster, a friend insta which was private, and it seemed like it eventually got leaked and he did confirm that it was his, but he just posted wild stuff on there. Like there is one picture of him sitting on a toilet with a drug cup in his hand. Like, he's peeing in it. And it's just captioned. All negative bitches. My body is a finely tuned toxicant processing unit.
Starting point is 01:00:13 I mean, to be fair, I had THC and Benzos in my piss, but who doesn't? I mean, we don't all have Benzos in our piss. We don't really pee in a cup. Yeah. Yeah, what are you doing? Yeah. Yeah, what are you doing? Yeah. Another one showed a mannequin tied up in, do you know what Shibinari is?
Starting point is 01:00:31 It's the Japanese style bondage. So it's different from, I guess, regular bondage, which is just effectively tying someone up for BDS on purposes or for other consensual purposes. Shibinari is very long rope that is used and it's very intricate, it takes a long time and it's more almost for the aesthetic as well. Army was really into that and he had mannequins that he would practice tying knots on. And he took a picture of one and posted it onto his finstead and said if quarantine doesn't start moving more quickly, I'm gonna fuck this thing.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Oh fuck. It's not called Shib more quickly, I'm gonna fuck this thing. Oh fuck. It's not called Shibonari, it's called Shibari. And another picture where he gave, well this is a video, he gave a tour of his hotel room in the Cayman Islands after the divorce. So he's at the Cayman Islands visiting his kids, and he's giving him a tour. It's like a casual hotel room tour. He showed the bathroom, the bar, and he scans over the bed. And he doesn't address what's happening on the bed,
Starting point is 01:01:29 but there is a woman on all fours on the bed in lingerie that is not moving. It's very much done in a disrespectful, bizarre, den-bizarre-in-style video. Did you know I'm talking about? Yeah. And like look at my bands of cash, and then there's just like naked women on the cash.
Starting point is 01:01:44 And he doesn't even address the woman's presence. It was like that. like look at my bands of cash and then there's just like naked woman on the cash and he doesn't even address the woman's presence. It was like that. He later apologized for the post and he made some excuses like divorce is not so fun. Not as fun as drugs, but what is? Allegedly in other photos and videos, ARMY has seen doing drugs while driving, which is incredibly reckless and dangerous. Apparently, he posted about driving recklessly way above the speed limit.
Starting point is 01:02:08 He is allegedly seen looking some white substance off a friend's hand while in a car. The guy is just not a good person. Like okay. I mean, I know that there is debate out there, not really strong to paint, but some corners of the internet debate whether the allegations of abuse and sexual assault are paint, but some corners of the internet debate whether the allegations of abuse and sexual assault are true, but I don't think there is any argument that this is not really a good person at all. No, like, am I crazy?
Starting point is 01:02:33 How are there fan accounts for this guy? And I think that you can tell a lot about someone by their favorite movie. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that if someone's favorite movie is a scary movie, they're horrible scary killers. I'm saying the reason behind someone's favorite movie is a scary movie, they're horrible scary killers. I'm saying, the reason behind someone's favorite movie is intriguing. If they love the cinematography, or maybe they love a specific actor, or maybe they were mind blown at the plot twist in a movie, or maybe they watch that movie with someone special
Starting point is 01:02:57 to them so it always lingered in their mind as like a big moment. There's a million reasons why you have a favorite movie, but sometimes it's a little bizarre. Army had a favorite movie that he would show to a lot of his victims, and it was the movie called The Secretary. It's a 2002 movie, and allegedly Army raved about this movie. I can totally see people enjoying this movie. I can totally see people saying that was a good movie. Now, if it's your favorite movie and you bring it up and you show it to people non-stop, it's a little bit weird. So the secretary is an erotic black comedy romantic drama and I don't know how else to describe it so I'm just going to give you a brief synopsis. It's about a woman named Lee who is a propensity for self-harm. She gets a job as a
Starting point is 01:03:39 secretary for a young eccentric attorney and the woman Lee, she's submissive and does exactly what she's told all the time. And this kind of turns Lee attorney on. This turns her boss on. His name is Edward. And the attorney has this secret BDSM kink that he's trying to suppress because he doesn't like this about himself. He doesn't want this kink.
Starting point is 01:03:59 He doesn't want it to admit it to anyone. And throughout the movie, the two develop this BDSM relationship where Edward is the dominant one, Lee is the submissive. And while Lee has no problem about this relationship because she's naturally so submissive, Edward is just very hesitant. He feels ashamed, he's like, oh, I can't do this. So in true romantic comedy fashion, Lee breaks up with him, is about to marry someone else.
Starting point is 01:04:23 No, I'm serious, literally about to marry someone else. No, I'm serious. Literally about to marry someone else. She's in her wedding dress, about to walk down the aisle, and she's like, I can't do this. I gotta go get Edward. This is who I love. So she runs out on the groom in her wedding dress, runs back to Edward's office, and he's still like, I don't know if I should be doing this, right?
Starting point is 01:04:38 And he commands her to sit on his office chair without moving her hands or feet until he returns. I was like some sort of test. And Lee complies. She is forced to wet her wedding dress in the process. She stays there for out days. Yeah. Family members come to tell her to not go through with this or go through with the wedding. Some are encouraging her like, yes, do what you need to for love. Some are like, are you fucking crazy? An Edward is like watching from afar. And he is so taken by the fact that Lee has not moved in three freaking days.
Starting point is 01:05:11 And then he runs back, carries her upstairs where he bathes and feeds her, and they get married and continue their dominant sub-relationship. And my God, the movie is just a lot. Like, okay, if we saw the movie on a random Saturday and we're like, hey, that was kind of a good movie. Like, oh, that kind of movie was fun
Starting point is 01:05:30 or like that God is thinking about other things. That's fine, but I think I would be alarmed if you were like, this is my favorite movie, like, sit down and watch this movie. I might be like, whoa, okay, like what's going on. This is like a lot. I don't know, it's just bizarre, right? And I think it's like very sinister in the context that it's about to go into. Yeah, like, lot. I don't know. It's just bizarre, right? And I think it's like
Starting point is 01:05:45 very sinister in the context that it's about to go into. Yeah. Like, what do you like about it? Like, what's that thing that gets you really excited? Exactly. What's your favorite part? Was the film congenius storyline? Was it the love? It was the acting spectacular. Come on now, right? Now, army is raving about this as the best movie ever, which is concerning considering the claims surrounding him. Allegedly, he showed this to a bunch of his victims and was like, see, this is what I want. Wow. Which again, in regular BDSM, where safe, sane, and consensual is at the forefront of everybody's
Starting point is 01:06:22 minds. It's perfectly normal. But this, this is not great. Let me just tell you how not great this is. Before Armies divorce, in 2019, before lockdown, Army had gone to Dallas, and at a random Dallas bar, he ran into a businesswoman named Courtney. Courtney had no idea who this guy was.
Starting point is 01:06:41 One of her friends was just like, hey, that's Army Hammer. And she was like, who? But she said, you know, he's tall handsome and she could totally see him being an actor. He had the look for it. Anyway, they had this brief interaction at the bar. Nothing came of it initially. The next morning she wakes up and sees that he had followed her on his main Instagram account.
Starting point is 01:07:02 So blue checkmark and everything. So she follows him back, not thinking much of it. For the next six months, they would watch each other's stories here and there, maybe like a couple of posts, but there was no interaction till June of 2020. So this is like a month before the announcement of the divorce and Courtney was in lockdown, bored out of her mind.
Starting point is 01:07:22 Her business to remember flashed. I mean, all of that was kind of on pause from COVID. She was trying to fill her time with other work and she gets his DM from army out of the blue. And just for fun and curiosity, she responds back. Quickly, it went from friendly to flirty and Courtney Google Timton, best to gate and look at that. He's freaking married and he has children.
Starting point is 01:07:45 And she's like, oh no, nope, not doing that. Not only, like this is disgusting, she brings it up and is like, I gotta go, you're married, dude. And he sold her the default Hollywood guide cheater story, which was that he and his wife were legally married, but living completely separate lives for the past two years. There was no love, it was just a facade, it was for their kids, he was so lonely, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 01:08:10 And Courtney believed it, which side note, she said it was something the response is, but she believed it because sometimes he would fall asleep on the phone with her on FaceTime. Sometimes they would FaceTime for five hours in the middle of the day while he's making a coffee, making lunch. It it was just bizarre how do you have a wife that lives with you when you're doing that. And I can see why she totally fell for it. Now essentially, army love bombed Courtney. In the beginning he showered her with love,
Starting point is 01:08:37 compliments, told her nonstop that she was beautiful, smart, funny, which I mean she is, but he's not lying, but love bombing is incredibly manipulative. He would say things like, you just get me. He genuinely spent a ton of time and energy making her feel like they had something special. Courtney said prior to Army, she just had been in these really toxic relationships. She struggled with herself worth, and to have this incredibly wealthy handsome actor be interested in you and showering you with attention. I mean, yeah, you're going to feel good.
Starting point is 01:09:10 And not only that, but army would tell Courtney really intimate, bad details about his family life, about the hammer family, about how his dad was crazy, his grandfather, there was crazy, like all of these things that felt so vulnerable and raw. So that made her feel like whatever they had, I mean it was real. She felt like they had this bond that the both of them just could be comfortable with each other. And he would talk about how his childhood was traumatic and they bonded over that trauma. Courtney said, day one, he makes you feel bad for him.
Starting point is 01:09:42 It's when he makes himself look like a victim. Then he loved bombs you like crazy. You've never felt more special in your entire life. Like I've never seen anything like it. We were in a restaurant and I'm sitting across from him and he'll pull my chair over right next to him in front of everyone. It's kissing you and hugging you and it's like you're the only girl in the entire world. And then the manipulation happens.
Starting point is 01:10:05 And this just seems to be like a common trend with army and his victims. Allegedly, women who knew army romantically said that he was so charming, like it made your head spin. I mean, he had this way of making you feel so sorry for him, making you feel special, making you feel like what you guys have is so special and unique, and it's one of a kind.
Starting point is 01:10:23 And then so gracefully he can ease into kinky bedroom talk. It just felt so natural like it was hard not to get caught up in it. So Courtney said that she saw about a month and maybe like a month and a half into their relationship, the first red flag, 4th of July. Courtney is going to be in the Hamptons with her friends. She had planned this for a while and army reaches out to her and is like, hey, I'm doing a crazy road trip from Miami to Los Angeles and I'm passing through Dallas.
Starting point is 01:10:49 So I want to see you. She's like, oh, sorry, I can't. Like, I'm not going to blow off my friends. We had this trip planned. I've just been talking to you for a month. Like, I'm going to go with my friends. But it's almost like he seemed shocked and annoyed that she wouldn't drop everything to stay and meet with him. And while she was in the Hamptons, her friends were like, your phone is going crazy. She checked it. 22 missed calls and a text message from army. She opened up the text message and it was a picture of the outside of her apartment
Starting point is 01:11:18 building. And she's like, what, where are you? Why are you in Dallas? I don't think she ever told him her address. Like she freaked out. She texted him, you? Why are you in Dallas? I don't think she ever told him her address. Like, she freaked out. She texted him, leave. Why are you there? And he just responded, I'm trying to find your scent. I'm sorry, this guy's like been watching way too much twilight.
Starting point is 01:11:36 Courtney was so confused. I mean, she had no idea what to even think of what just happened. She tried to tell herself, maybe that's how these people flirt. Like, this is so weird. Maybe he's just like an eccentric actor. Now at this point, she'd already been loved bombed by this guy. It's not just like he showed up at her apartment day one. When she got home from the Hamptons, she found a note left by army and it just said, I'm gonna bite the capital FUCK out of you.
Starting point is 01:12:01 And underneath was his autograph. Like not a signature of who left the note, FUCK out of you and underneath was his autograph. Like not a signature of who left the note, but you know how celebrities have fancy autographs for whenever a fan passes them on the street, like just Google, like Madonna's autograph or Beyonce's autograph, they're always like really intricate and big and like a whole, it looks very climactic.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Yeah, it was his celebrity autograph. It was just, wow, so bizarre. So Courtney thinks it's strange. But again, he already loved Bomter. She had this image of him in her mind, and she tried to brush the whole thing off. And after, Army publicly divorced his wife. So she's like, okay, maybe this is a good sign for the relationship. She had no idea that Elizabeth had divorced army for cheating on her, and Courtney was
Starting point is 01:12:48 not the other woman. There were more women. But like I said, she didn't know that. She thought this was all a good sign that they were taking steps in the right direction. So that's when they agreed to meet again. Courtney was going to go to fly to California, meet with one of her friends, and then later army would take her on an adventure near Joshua Tree. This is like in the desert. He is fixing up this old motel there with a good buddy of his and they could just have fun.
Starting point is 01:13:11 So they would spend three weeks there helping with renovations going on evening drives having candlelit dinners watching movies. I mean they were together 24-7 and army was so attentive. He just wanted to be around her nonstop. He always had his arm around her, or maybe his hand on her knee. If they were sitting and eating, he would pull her closer to him. And at the time, it was super sweet, super romantic.
Starting point is 01:13:38 It just made Courtney feel even more confident in their relationship, you know? But later, it just felt like he was being possessive. Like, he wanted to have physical control over Courtney, is the speculation. Now, Courtney said, she knew that army was into super kinky stuff in the bedroom. He claimed that he was into BDSM, which side note, he was not into BDSM. Whatever he seemed to be doing, clearly wasn't BDSM. Like I said, BDSM is based off, same, sane, consensual. And anyone who has any real experience of BDSM. Like I said, BDSM is based off safe, sane, consensual. And anyone who has any real experience of BDSM, they know that the submissive one is the one in charge, which sounds crazy because the dominant one is
Starting point is 01:14:14 the more verbally and physically aggressive one, but everything is based off of what the submissive wants. It's the only thing being done is what they want. And when they say stop, that's it. All the fun is gone, right? That's when they pull the plug. The sub is the one in power. I think the reason that BDSM gets a bad rep sometimes is because a lot of abusers will use BDSM as a way to physically control another person, but they do not adhere to the
Starting point is 01:14:40 principles of BDSM. Anyway, Army allegedly starts bringing up things like bondage, and Courtney tells him that she's not comfortable. Allegedly, he didn't seem to care, because one day he just took her to a tractor supply store out in the desert and tried to buy rope. Thankfully, the store was out of rope that day, but again, not a good sign, which side note. Apparently, Army used to just like straight up bondage pictures from his main Instagram account for everyone to see that he was liking women in bondage on Instagram. Yeah, he even went on to Steven Colbert's The Late Show and challenged him to
Starting point is 01:15:15 a not-time contest. And he said that he loved tying knots that it was a man's version of knitting. Now, anyway, before leaving LA after meeting Army, Courtney said that she had a sexual experience that was degrading and dehumanizing. She said that she broke down crying in the shower. He was too aggressive. He had slapped her too hard, bit her too hard. She had bite marks and bruise marks, and Army told her to wear them proudly, like a badge of honor.
Starting point is 01:15:43 I mean, she straight up told him that she broke down in the shower after their sexual encounter because she was so traumatized and he just left it off and convinced her to stay. He convinced her to fly back to see him. But then soon after that, Army was all over the tabloids. A picture of him and Rumor Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, were seen connected at the waist. They were looking very intimate. I mean it was very romantic.
Starting point is 01:16:08 And when Courtney saw those, she was heartbroken, like sure they never talked about being exclusive, but after everything that they had been through and after all the trauma that she endured thinking she was doing this for somebody that she loved, she felt so utterly used. So she flew back to LA to talk about things with Army, and honestly, she was over it. She broke things off, and allegedly, he got mildly aggressive, almost implying that she didn't have the power
Starting point is 01:16:34 to break up with him, that he wouldn't allow it. But she stood her ground, and she left the next day. Courtney went hiking with a friend in Beverly Hills as a way to vent and get some fresh air. and army had stalked her location on his phone and found her hiking and begged for her back Now because of the tumultuous relationship and how army had already laid the foundation of love bombing Courtney felt like it was a romantic gesture. So she took him back and This time she was a lot more cautious She kind of had one foot in the door one one foot out, and it felt like army could sense it.
Starting point is 01:17:09 And he said he wanted to take her back out to the desert where they first reconnected. Courtney said it just felt different. He didn't put an effort. He was no longer sweet and caring. All he wanted to talk about was sex. She was horrified to learn that he had brought a full bag of ropes with him. And it was clear that the whole trip, he just wanted to have about with sex. She was horrified to learn that he had brought a full bag of ropes with him and it was clear that the whole trip he just wanted to have sex with Courtney almost says like this one last type, one last time type of thing. Whenever she said she was too tired or you know a little not into it he would get cold and mean and she's like
Starting point is 01:17:39 stuck with this guy in the desert. I feel like every girl has felt this before where it's almost like they're so nice to you and you don't want to have sex with them and suddenly they become so mean that you just feel like you should do something to get that niceness back. And it's just this uncomfortable situation where you're not necessarily saying no, but you're kind of forced into this social awkwardness if you don't say yes. Like it's so uncomfortable. And she said, you know, technically she didn't say no,
Starting point is 01:18:08 but she said everything but the word no. She said she was tired. She said she was uncomfortable. She said she wasn't feeling it. Listen, just a thing for everyone. If it's not a clear yes, it's a no. I don't, what's so hard about that? Now in the hotel room, Courtney said,
Starting point is 01:18:22 Army started playing this crazy, loud, aggressive rock music. He was super drunk from dinner and he started tying her up. She could smell the alcohol on his breath and it's just terrifying. The loud music, the alcohol on his breath, her slowly becoming immobilized, I mean, it was terrifying. She said when he was done, she couldn't even move an inch. She did not feel safe. Again, this is not BDSM because even though she didn't explicitly say no, she also didn't say yes and in BDSM the Dom should know how their
Starting point is 01:18:54 sub is feeling. And Courtney said her body went into fight or flight. She couldn't even move at all. It was so scary. Which side note it is proven that music has a strong impact on our emotions and how we perceive the situation, so this aggressive music would have only added to our distress. It said that when army got what he wanted, he untied her and went straight to sleep. Which again, this is not proper BDSM because after care is such a huge thing. We've talked about it before, but after care is like half of the process. The dawn will take care of the sub physically, mentally and emotionally.
Starting point is 01:19:27 It's time for them to connect, get back to equal footing, and talk about the experience, right? But Arnemy did not engage in aftercare because the guy is not into BDSM. He just wants to control sexual encounters, even if it means making the other party uncomfortable. Courtney said it was so bad. And then the next day she was so confused. Because army was like, do you want to meet my mom? She's like, what? I mean, she decided to go because it's like our last home. Okay. Maybe he was going through something that night.
Starting point is 01:19:53 And this means that their relationship is serious, right? Like, why else would she be introduced to his mom? The meeting was strange. Courtney said, army and his mom just gossiped about family drama the whole time. And she felt like she shouldn't even be there hearing that it was so bizarre. Like she felt uncomfortable listening to them just to talk other family members. So yeah, after that Courtney left army for good and army did not try to starp for this time because he had already found a new girlfriend. Which side note Courtney was so traumatized from this whole relationship. She had checked herself into a rehab program. And honestly, I have so much respect and admiration for Courtney, like the fact that she recognized that she needed help and asked for it, because it's so easy.
Starting point is 01:20:34 It's almost the default to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms. I mean, it could have gotten really, really fast. So that takes a lot of courage. Unfortunately, though, she's still struggled with intense nightmares, trauma, and it was actually in rehab that Courtney heard the devastating news that Army had in other victim. A 22-year-old content creator by the name of Paige Lorenzi, and they had dated for four months,
Starting point is 01:20:58 Paige declined to be a part of the docuseries, but she did feature in an episode of Sophia with an F. The podcast hosted by former caller DaddyHose Sophia. Paige's relationship with army was eerily similar to Courtney's, like uncanny similar. He loved bomb them, eased them into his wilder fantasies. He used the same line, same tactics. He talked about his childhood trauma. He would tell them intimate dark secrets about his family life. I mean, he even watched the movie Secretary with both of them.
Starting point is 01:21:26 He gave them the same nickname, perfect little thing. He played the same rough scary rock music when traumatizing them. They both met his mother, Drew, which side note, apparently, when Drew met Paige. Drew just talked about how the devil was trying to take army, and she was concerned that army didn't believe in God. She also asked Paige if Paige had accepted the Holy Spirit into her life. Yeah. And before anyone thinks that these girls were going after army to be rich and famous, first of all, such a sexist thing to think, and second of all, Paige paid for like everything during their brief relationship, if you could even call it a relationship. So, army was just
Starting point is 01:22:03 getting loans from his friends. He didn't ask his family for money because I guess he didn't want to. So, she was paying for everything. What? Army allegedly texted Paige that he knew a doctor in LA that could have her ribs taken out so that he could cook and eat them. Which what? Paige had also previously provided photo evidence that showed that Army had used her knife
Starting point is 01:22:22 to brand her with the letter A above her private area. Oh my God. She said it was really traumatic. They had either during or after a sexual encounter, he had just taken out a knife and cut the letter into her skin. He did not ask for consent allegedly, and she had no idea what to do or how to react, and she just froze.
Starting point is 01:22:42 To make things worse, allegedly, army took pictures of her without her consent while she was tied up. She did not even know that these pictures existed. And Paige had some very valuable words to share with people, which is consent is really complicated, even if it's consenting to something in vanilla sex that you don't really want to do and that yes to, it can be really traumatizing. Paige said that she hopes to start an organization that can advocate for safe sex and women learning how to say no. I and that yes to, it can be really traumatizing. Paige said that she hopes to start an organization that can advocate for safe sex and women learning how to say no.
Starting point is 01:23:08 I believe that she's moved to the East Coast since then and is hopefully living her best life. I just think it's really brave for her to come forward and I hope that she's finding happiness and success and I hope all the women involved in today's story are. Like, I imagine that there are more women that haven't come forward and potentially, many more. I've seen a lot of people argue that they aren't real victims, that these are women who
Starting point is 01:23:31 got caught up in kinky bedroom activities who consented and then later regretted it. And I would say to that, literally, what are you saying? I mean, I can consent to something right now. And in the middle of whatever I consented to, I can take back my consent. That is just how consent works. It's not a contractual obligation. It's not a forever definite answer. Army's attorneys argue the same thing as some of these nasty people on the internet. They say all interactions between Mr. Hammer and his former partners were consensual. They were fully discussed agreed upon in
Starting point is 01:24:01 advance with his partners and mutually participatory. The stories perpetuated on social media were designed to be salacious in an effort to harm Mr. Hammer, but that does not make them true. So what now? As of right now, there are no criminal charges brought upon ARMY Hammer. There's been debate after debate of if he's even guilty of anything. Some of ARMY's friends have defended him and said, if army is guilty of anything,
Starting point is 01:24:26 it's his penchant for super kinky sex. Another friend said that army just has a dry sense of humor. His text messages were about, you know, cutting off toes and eating ribs. They were just dry jokes, dark humor jokes. They got mixed up with his newfound interest in BDSM. And all of it got supercharged because of the post hashtag MeToo climate.
Starting point is 01:24:48 Like, what are you saying? Another friend said, there are a lot of nuances to the subject of sex and consent, and it's just not a topic that people are really patient about these days. He's a really down to earth guy. I think he's just having a moment. Don't you just hate it when people have a moment
Starting point is 01:25:04 and leave a trail of traumatized victims behind them? Like, Don't you just hate it when people have a moment and leave a trail of traumatized victims behind them? Like, don't you just hate when moments like that happen? What are you saying? Another person said, he did some stupid things, but there's a difference between stupidity and criminal behavior. Like you just don't send messages like that if you're a famous movie star, you know, you know, your boundaries.
Starting point is 01:25:21 Given his family history, I'm sure there's some damage there, but he's basically a sweet man who apparently likes kinky sex. One friend was not so nice. They are choosing to be anonymous, but they told the docuseries. They said that army was a terrible friend. He allegedly loved exercising his power over others. If army allegedly felt like he was above someone else, he would take full advantage of it.
Starting point is 01:25:42 That included his own employees, whoever he felt more successful than, those he deemed to be lucky, to even be breathing the same error as him. He would get off on allegedly, pushing them, persuading them, belittling them, coercing them to do humiliating things. They alleged that army loved making people do uncomfortable things. For entertainment. Personally, this is my opinion, okay, allegedly. And just so we're clear,
Starting point is 01:26:08 I fullheartedly believe these victims. Like right now, we have an overwhelming number of victims with evidence and eerily similar stories by women who are not connected to each other in any way. I believe them, and I sympathize with them. And on top of that, I just think from the text messages alone that I read in the research the DMs, I believe these women expressed enough discomfort, enough trauma to communicate
Starting point is 01:26:29 effectively to any human being with any social cues and a brain that they were not comfortable with what was happening. Like sure, if they didn't say no in that moment, I don't know what happened in that moment. But from the texts that I've seen, I mean they they straight up told him, I called the suicide hotline. I balled my eyes out after that. If someone said that to me, after a sexual encounter with me, I would never in a million years think
Starting point is 01:26:53 that what I did to them was okay or consensual. Like, forget legal. As a human, I would just be so concerned. Like, I would be so confused, concerned, and worried for them. and I would try to prioritize how they feel and what to do next about the situation. I'm so confused. And let's say he genuinely was so careless and did not have a brain that he didn't realize
Starting point is 01:27:15 at the time, which I find that a hard argument to make. But let's say he did. His reaction to these traumatic cries for help was so cruel and heartless. I just morally and ethically speaking, that is just not someone I would support regardless of if there are or are not criminal charges. That's just my humble opinion. I guess all we can do is try to support the victims, support Courtney in Pages' careers, help them focus on rebuilding their lives after this traumatic incident, support those who
Starting point is 01:27:42 wish to remain anonymous, because especially the Instagram account who came with the initial threats, there was so much backlash. I believe she even received death threats like she was just hounded by fans, by people that were just so gross and obsessed with victim blaming for some reason. And as for Elizabeth Chambers, the ex-wife, it seems like she's trying to put her kids first. It's said that even before she could tell their children about the divorce, Army was out all over the internet seen with a string of woman,
Starting point is 01:28:17 and she said it's gonna be very hard for her to explain to her young kids why that is. Some sources close to Elizabeth say that they are concerned for her safety. Why you ask? Well, Casey Hammer, Armies Aunt, who came out against the Hammer family, she claimed that she had gotten a text message from a source that was very close to the Hammer family, and they had texted her, don't go out of their dark. If you do, go in a group. Park under a light or near a store entrance. Valet as much as you can. Be aware and be aware.
Starting point is 01:28:45 Always check to make sure you're not being followed. Watch your surroundings for a stranger's face that appears more than once. I mean, think about all the people that have to look over their shoulders constantly, all the victims of the Hammer family. And that is the ongoing case of the Hammer family and the allegations against Army Hammer.
Starting point is 01:29:05 It's not just a meme or like an internet celebrity Hollywood tabloid drama. It's a lot of real world drama and a lot of victims. So, please stay safe everyone and I will see you guys on Wednesday for the main episode. Bye! the main episode. Bye!
