Welcome to R-slash Best of Redditor updates, where a guy tries to blackmail O.P. into being his girlfriend. Our next Reddit post is from Selena, Selena. I've been dating my boyfriend for two years now.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Our relationship can be quite rocky sometimes, but at the end of the day, we really care about each other. He has an ego problem, though, and it causes problems every now and then. I'm not perfect myself. I can be quite hot-tempered, but I always try to be a better person. This evening, I was at his house when a bunch of his friends came over. I stayed mostly out of their way to let them have their male bonding time or whatever, so I was in one of the bedrooms upstairs while they were all downstairs. An hour later, I was walking past the kitchen when I heard one of them mention my name. I heard my boyfriend's voice and two of his other friends.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Naturally, I stopped in my tracks and decided to eavesdrop. I was truly disgusted by what my boyfriend was saying. He was telling them about our sex life and my behavior. behavior in the bedroom in graphic detail. He also said that Latinas are effing crazy, and that's why they're so wild in bed. I'm Afro-Brazilian. He put a lot of emphasis on my race, which disgusted me. I thought he was going to stop there, but he didn't. He spoke of me like I'm some object he plays around with. He even told me that he intentionally pisses me off sometimes because the sex is better when I'm angry at him. I'm a very, very, very
Starting point is 00:02:57 person. I never talk about my love life or even relationships. I hate the fact that he told them this because I feel embarrassed and objectified. More importantly, I'm really shocked at how much emphasis he put on my ethnic background. By the way, he's Italian-American. I avoided him for most of the day, and he asked me what's wrong. I told him we'll talk about it later since I need to gather my thoughts. What should I say to him? Then five days later, OP posted an update. In the original posts, a lot of people suggested that I should delete my pictures off his phone because he can't be trusted. At first, this didn't cross my mind. I admit, I was extremely naive and clueless. I'm thanking you guys for slapping some sense into me. This whole thing took a very different turn, to say the least. He was
Starting point is 00:03:44 taking a shower, and I checked his phone for the nudes. I deleted them all. Then I thought that I should check his WhatsApp to see if he sent anything to his friends or anyone else. I really thought this wasn't necessary, but I did it anyways just because y'all made me so paranoid. And thank God I did. He has several group chats and I check the media history on them. He doesn't post the nudes I send him. He posts the pictures he takes of me. He randomly takes pictures of me during the day, me working out or getting changed. But I didn't know he sends a lot of these pictures to his friends. The latest one he posted on the group chat, only a few days ago, was of me sleeping naked on his bed. It wasn't a frontal photo. My back was actually facing the camera, but it was still exposing.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I was horrified and my heart sank. I've never felt so betrayed and used in my life. The way he talks about me in those group chats is disgusting as well. And yes, he did send my nudes to his best friend. It's weird because he's very possessive, so I didn't expect him to do that at all. I just felt humiliated and used. When he came back, I told him, that I overheard everything that night and that I was disgusted at how disrespectful he was. He laughed and said, oh shit, and covered his face with his hands in a, she's going to kill me way. Clearly, none of this was serious to him at all. He started kissing and touching me, which he always does when he knows he screwed up, and I told him to stop and
Starting point is 00:05:15 listen. I told him that I know he sent private pictures of me to his friends on WhatsApp, and that I basically lost all trust in him. He accused me of being sensitive. He accused me of being sensitive and nosy, and said that what he's done is totally normal and a guy thing. I also asked him why he's so obsessed with my ethnicity, and he literally had no valid defense whatsoever. We argued, but he was too stubborn to even empathize with me. I told him it's over. When he realized that I dumped him, he said, you can't break up with me, lull. At that point, he even said, people know we're together, you're not going to dump me and start screwing other guys. That's when I truly realize that he's got serious problems. I didn't stick around, so I just left him. He didn't put up
Starting point is 00:06:00 a fight because he probably thought that I would come back to him. He started texting me as soon as I left the house, and at first I ignored it. However, the texts were getting more threatening as the hours went by, saying that he would post my nudes on Twitter and other social media sites. He started sending me photos as proof. He even said that he would send everything to the soccer club that I work at, knowing that it would get me into a lot of trouble and ruin my image. He's never threatened me like this before, which makes me think he realized that I genuinely dumped him. I warned him that I would go straight to the police if he did that.
Starting point is 00:06:36 He said, I won't if you don't break up with me. What a manipulative psycho. I promised him that I wouldn't break up with him, and he told me to come over and talk it out. I went over to his house and forgave him. I asked him if he has any of my nudes or video, on his laptop and he said, no, everything's on his phone. We made up and he went to sleep.
Starting point is 00:06:57 While he was asleep, I took his phone and deleted all the videos and pictures he had and checked every single damn app for anything more. I spent a lot of time going through everything. I permanently deleted everything off ICloud and restored his phone. When I finally finished, I smashed it up and threw it in the toilet. Yep, I have no regrets whatsoever. I pretty much did the same with his laptop. He lied about not having pictures or videos on his laptop, and I had a gut feeling about this anyways. Effing liar. I know my reaction is very childish and extreme, but I really don't care. I'm aware he might have pics that I don't know about. I'm also aware that his friends have access to a lot of pictures, and I have no control over that. If there's anything I can do,
Starting point is 00:07:45 please let me know. Anyway, he woke up later and started yelling at me as soon as he realized what happened. He called me all sorts of names, but I just found it really amusing because I'm a crazy Latina, right? His grandfather heard the loud noise and started berating him, an Italian for speaking to me that way, lull. When he calmed down, he said that he, forgives me, lull, and I'm the crazy one, huh? By the way, his friends texted me a day later to ask if I'm okay. I was confused, and they clarified that my boyfriend told them that he dumped me. Nice, huh? I'd like to be a little bit. I'd like to thank you guys for your help. I previously didn't even consider checking his phone or laptop. I guess I just never expected him to pull that move. I know I'm very naive, but at least it's a
Starting point is 00:08:32 lesson learned. O.P., this was a dangerous but impressive secret agent move to win his trust over and then destroy all the evidence you could get your hands on. I'm relieved that things didn't turn out worse for you and that you got out of there before he woke up. Our next Reddit post is from R-slash relationships. I'm a 24-year-old woman, and my future in-laws are upset because my autistic nephews, ages 6 to 17, aren't invited to the wedding, and my fiance, whose 36, won't even defend me. As a quick aside, before I start the story, I got to point out that O.P. started dating when she was 20 and her boyfriend was 32. To start out, I really love my future nephews, and their disabilities don't have any effect on that. They're severely autistic, and the two oldest ones are
Starting point is 00:09:23 extremely violent. They hit, kick, spit, scratch, and push. And the 17-year-old also has several inappropriate sexual behaviors that he exhibits regularly. The two youngest ones are fairly low-functioning and can't really speak, but can be fairly disruptive when they're overstimulated. The biggest problem comes in when the oldest two have meltdowns. This is caused by over-stimulation and large groups of people, especially strangers, are when their schedule is disrupted. During my time around these two boys, I've been kicked, punched, shoved, spat on, head-butted, and bitten. This was especially more common in the beginning of mine and my fiance's relationship, being that I was a stranger to the boys. It's decreased a little over time, but it still happens
Starting point is 00:10:08 and I'm pretty small, 5'2, 100 pounds. And they're pretty big, so when it happens, it knocks the wind out of me pretty badly. The 17-year-old has started noticing sexual feelings and has began taking them out on women anywhere near him, including me. He'll walk up and kiss women in the lips or grab their butts or their breasts, and he even tried to stick his hands down my pants before, and take his clothes off and touch himself whenever he feels like it. I've asked his parents and grandparents, the people they live with who take care of them, if there's anything they can do or say, or maybe encourage them not to do those things. And it just resulted in me being hated and yelled at for being insensitive to their issues
Starting point is 00:10:50 and expecting them to know better when I know that they don't. I thought about trying to get them to stop using some methods that I read about, but I didn't want to make it any worse because I know that if I tried anything, it would result in more yelling and being berated and told that, at least you don't have to deal with it every day. Since we know what causes the boys to have meltdowns, my fiance and I decided to have a child-free wedding as to not specifically exclude the boys. When my future brother-in-law heard about the no-kids rule,
Starting point is 00:11:20 he immediately jumped on the defense and demanded that the boys be invited because normal kids will get to experience other weddings, they won't. When I tried explaining to him that it wasn't for just the boys, again, he wasn't having it. Then I tried explaining that the safety of the boys and the guests at the wedding, 350 people, was very important to me. I got berated and told how horrible and insensitive and evil of a person I was. They're threatening to not come to the wedding and have already started posting this passive aggressive stuff on Facebook
Starting point is 00:11:53 about the favorite auntie who thinks her autistic nephews are a burden because they aren't perfect. Now my fiancee wants to allow them to come, but not any other children, and he seems totally unconcerned about the guests who will be there, or even me, for that matter. I'm honestly just thinking about calling off the wedding and possibly even my relationship with my fiancé, as he never stands up for me.
Starting point is 00:12:17 And sometimes even joins in with telling me to just accept the things that come with the disease no matter how bad they are. I don't know how much more I can deal with this situation or his family. I know that all sounds terrible on my end, and I honestly feel bad for feeling this way, because I know that they can't help it, and I feel bad for my fiance's family, because I know they're under tons of constant stress and don't really have many places to turn besides each other,
Starting point is 00:12:43 but I really can't deal with this for the rest of my life. Am I wrong and insensitive in this situation, and is ending my relationship with my fiancé and his family too drastic a measure for this problem? Then one week later, OP posted an update. The day I made the post, I'd basically already made up my mind to leave my fiance, but I decided to wait until the holidays were over so the break wouldn't be as mess. We were discussing Christmas plans, and I told him I would prefer to go to my family's house this year because I know that if I joined his family, his brother and sister-in-law and their boys would be there, and I'd rather not disturb the boy's schedule or get yelled at by his family anymore. My fiancé flipped out and began yelling at me for being selfish and thinking only of myself. I even told him why again, and he still kept yelling, all while name-calling.
Starting point is 00:13:34 And I lost it and started yelling too, and told him that I might want to spend time with his family if I wasn't abused and forced against the wall every time I was near them. Apparently, this was the most shocking news ever to him, and he couldn't believe that I felt that way. When he finally asked how I was being abused, I told him about all the things his family does and says to me, even though usually he's present. And maybe I shouldn't have, but I also told him that I don't want to be hit or kicked or something. spat on or groped by the boys for at least this one day. He somehow had no idea that I wasn't okay with this, despite the fact that he'd witnessed it, and I told him every time it happens. He, oh, geez, he called me an awful grunt for blaming them for doing things that they don't
Starting point is 00:14:24 know aren't okay, that go along with their disabilities, and having no sympathy for selfless people in a physically and emotionally tough situation, which isn't at all what came out of my mouth in any way, shape, or form. He left very soon after that, and immediately the phone calls and messages started coming in from his family. I can't even count how many worthless, useless, selfish, evil, pathetic, B-words, whores, and grunts, I was called. Then they even took it to Facebook and fabricated the story completely and twisted just about every word. My fiancee came back the next day and apologized for the night before and asked if I, was ready to suck it up and get over myself and just go to his family's house for Christmas.
Starting point is 00:15:09 I stuck to my guns and told him there was no way I was going back there and that I was spending the holidays with my family whether he was going or not. And we got into another fight. I told him about all of his selfishness, immaturity, disrespect, whininess, and the total lack of balls when it came to defending me ever. We went back and forth for quite a while. and at one point I was finally done and kicked him out and told him that our relationship was over. Even after all that, it was hard to leave him, and I sort of miss him at times. But it felt like the biggest weight in the world had been lifted off my shoulders, and for the first time in four and a half years we'd been together, I felt like a free person.
Starting point is 00:15:50 I still feel bad for his family, though, especially the boys, knowing what they have to go through. But I had to get out as it was only adding extra, unneeded stress and hurt to everyone. It's still a mess right now with him having to come back and forth and get his belongings and canceling everything for the wedding. But I'm happy that it's over now and that I can move on and not feel completely awful about myself 24-7, even though my heart is still a little broken. The boyfriend's family is really fixated on like ableism, but this isn't really ableism so much as wanting to feel safe and not wanting your guests to be groped at a wedding. To me, I mean, you guys might disagree with this, but I'm not. I think this is a situation that warrants getting child protective services involved, because it seems like this family is not even attempting to provide the correct education and care for these nephews.
