Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to R-slash Best of Redditor updates, where an adult begins bullying O.P.'s child. Our next Reddit post is from R-slash advice. My son is six, and he has such a sweet soul. He has as ups and downs as any child does, but he's gentle and at times too good for this world. We haven't had many instances of him being bullied up until now, and he's not taking it well. Back when I was a child and young teen, a certain girl decided to make my life living hell. She disguised herself as my friend and made me do all kinds of things for her, only to call me all the names under the sun afterwards. She'd make me sit on the floor and
Starting point is 00:00:41 called me unworthy to touch any furniture. It was the kind of mental torture no 10-year-old should endure, and I lived through it up until I was 17. I'm 28 now. I have a child of my own, and my number one parenting goal has always been to make sure my son never bullies anyone. Well, hers wasn't. She has a son as well, a year older than my kid. It hasn't been an issue up until a few months ago when they moved back to our hometown after spending the first year of the kid's life in the nearest big city. My son, the friendly little guy he is, became friends with the boy and they had some play dates and fun outings together, which I've been trying to accept, despite that gut feeling. Turns out, I was right to worry about it, though. My son's been coming home, saying that all of his friends have been laughing at
Starting point is 00:01:29 him saying he has rabies. He wants us to get rid of our dogs, and there have been instances of him telling me his friends were saying he lives in a rabies infested house. The reason, I'm a canine handler and trainer. We have four family dogs, and I have my own business training dogs for the army, police, and armed forces, or just protection dogs in general. I've been doing this for 10 years, way before my son was born. The most terrifying part is that the grown woman, my former bully is the one who came up with this amazing idea of calling a six-year-old rabies infested. A friend of mine showed me a group chat that she's been added to, where she's been relentlessly bullying my six-year-old child, and me by proxy, with the other parents agreeing or laugh-reacting.
Starting point is 00:02:17 She's editing pictures, downloading them from my website, and using the photos the boys have together. I've seen an edited photo of my son's happy face in that hospital isolation room, or my dog's pictures with my son edited so that they're all foaming at the mouth. An adult woman is doing this to a six-year-old little boy. My son is obviously upset, but he doesn't know about the extent of it. It's just that his friends don't want to play with him because they think he has a deadly infectious disease. He cried himself to sleep tonight, and it makes my heartbreak because I promise myself he'll never go through what I did. Yet, he's going through it now. Other than the obvious, which be going to the school, I'd like to get back at her for all the years she spent terrorizing me,
Starting point is 00:03:04 and worst of all, terrorizing my son now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Any payback ideas, if legal, would be appreciated too. Then, 12 days later, O.P. posted an update. I looked into her life and why she had to move back to our hometown, and with the help of some childhood friends, I was able to find out that she did something similar to one of her coworkers, no kids involved though, and ended up getting fired, hence was unable to stay in the city. I did, however, file a police report, and I got a half-hearted, scared, shitless apology from her via messenger. I can't say more about how it's been going when it comes to the claim and court dates, so I'm sorry I can't give you an update on that as of now.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Some of you mentioned that I should also go to the school and show off the dogs to kids, so they all understand what the dogs actually do. I can't do that, sadly, because school's out. However, I was able to work with the town and organize a meeting in the park where I was able to show what my dogs did. It was for everyone to attend, but from what my son has told me, a surprising amount of his peers actually did show up. I have another show scheduled for this weekend during the summer festival in town, and my son will actually be performing this time as well. He's super excited, and I'm glad I was able to have him make some good memories after all that. Lastly, for the people who wanted me to beat her up, I'm 22 weeks pregnant, so no thanks.
Starting point is 00:04:29 My partner beat me to it, though. He's a firefighter, so for most of this, I wasn't really able to talk to him about my feelings when he was working his double shifts. But the moment I was able to sit down with him and tell him, he went straight to her house to have a word with her husband. He came out of it in one piece. He's fine, and the other dude is alive. But if I wasn't a mother with another baby on the way and an adult woman, I would say that it was entertaining AF. Another small piece of information people have been wondering about. I did say I'm 28 and that I've been doing this work for 10 years. You know, I often say don't mess with the IT guy on this channel,
Starting point is 00:05:09 but I feel like messing with a couple, one of which trains attack dogs and the other is a firefighter, maybe that's also a couple you don't tangle with. Am I the butthole for cutting off my daughter after she slept with her sister's husband? I'm a 59-year-old woman and I have two daughters, Emma and Chloe, who are 35 and 33. Emma has been married to her husband who's 36 for 11 years, and they have two children together. Chloe has been married to her husband for eight years, and they have a five-year-old son. About six weeks ago, Emma called me just after midnight, completely hysterical. She told me she'd suspected for months that her husband was hiding something.
Starting point is 00:05:47 He'd become distant, constantly guarded his phone, and was always finding excuses to stay late at work. That night, after he fell asleep beside her, she looked through his phone for the first time. She found years of explicit messages between him and Chloe. Their affair had been going on for almost four years. Emma was devastated. She kept asking me how her own sister could do this to her. A few days later, we were at my brother's birthday party when Emma confronted Chloe outside. Chloe denied everything at first and insisted Emma had misunderstood. When Emma said that she had read the messages herself, Chloe completely fell apart. She started crying, admitted the affair, and kept repeating,
Starting point is 00:06:32 I don't know why I did it. I'm so sorry, it was the biggest mistake of my life. Emma asked how four years could possibly be a mistake. Chloe had no answer. The argument escalated into a screaming match. Chloe tried to slap Emma, but several relatives stepped in before she could. Chloe's husband quietly took their son home after realizing what had happened. Within days, he told Chloe he wanted a divorce. Emma also filed for divorce after her husband admitted everything.
Starting point is 00:07:02 After it all came out, Chloe called me 82 times in one day. I answered once because I hoped that she was calling to explain herself. Instead, she cried the entire time, begging me not to abandon her. She said she'd already lost her husband, was probably, going to lose shared custody of her son, and couldn't bear losing her mother, too. She said that she knew she didn't deserve forgiveness, but begged me not to hate her forever. I told her I couldn't look at her the same way anymore. I said this wasn't one bad decision. It was years of lying to her sister, her husband, and the rest of us. I told her I loved her
Starting point is 00:07:40 because she's my daughter, but I didn't want contact with her for the foreseeable future. Since then, I've ignored every attempt she's made to reach out. This is where my family thinks I'm wrong. My sisters say that Chloe has lost everything, her marriage, her relationship with her sister, many of her friends, and likely the family she dreamed of giving her son. They say she's genuinely remorseful, has started individual therapy,
Starting point is 00:08:06 and isn't trying to justify what she did. They argue that if a mother won't stand by her child after they've hit rock bottom, who will. They also remind me that cutting Chloe off means my grandson is growing up without his grandmother, even though he's done nothing wrong. I understand all that, but every time I think about welcoming Chloe back into my life, I picture Emma reading those messages alone in the middle of the night, realizing that two of the people she trusted most had been lying to her for years.
Starting point is 00:08:35 I don't know if I can move past that. My family says I'm punishing Chloe forever for something she already deeply regrets. I feel like I'm simply refusing to pretend it never happened. There's an update, and before I get into it, I have to point out that people seem to not realize that if OP does support the cheater, there's a very good chance that the daughter who is cheated on will cut off her mother. So, O.P. is really in a situation where she's going to have to lose her relationship with one of the daughters. So you may as well lose the relationship with the one who ruined everything, right? Then three days later, O.P. posted an update. I decided I needed one final conversation with Chloe before I completely closed the door.
Starting point is 00:09:17 I went to her house yesterday and I expected her to be emotional after calling me 82 times in one day, but she was surprisingly calm. I asked her the one question I still couldn't understand. Why? She admitted she'd been attracted to Emma's husband for years. She said that what started as admiration eventually became feelings and over time they crossed a line. Instead of ending it, they kept convincing themselves it would be the last time. She insisted she regretted everything.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I asked if she'd spoken to Emma. She told me the only context she had had was one text before Emma blocked her on everything. Emma told her she had destroyed their family, taken away her children's stable home, and that she hoped the affair had been worth losing a sister forever, because, as far as she was concerned, Chloe no longer had one. Emma blocked her immediately afterwards. Chloe also admitted she later waited outside the school gates hoping to speak to Emma when she came to collect the kids.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Emma refused to speak to her, warned her to stay away from her and the children, and told her if she ever approached them again, she'd regret it. Chloe left, crying. I told Chloe that her waiting outside the school was completely inappropriate, regardless of her intentions. She insisted she only wanted to apologize and prove she cared about Emma. I then asked if she truly felt remorse. That's when I completely lost my patience. Instead of taking full responsibility, Chloe started telling me Emma's marriage had already been falling apart, that Emma and her husband had been drifting apart for years,
Starting point is 00:10:49 and that he often confided in her. She admitted the affair was wrong, but repeatedly tried to place part of the blame on Emma, saying if their marriage had been happier, none of this would have happened. I was furious. I honestly couldn't believe I'd raise someone capable of thinking like that. I told her, there's no marriage bad enough to justify secretly sleeping with your own sister's husband for four years.
Starting point is 00:11:14 I told her I wasn't just disappointed. I was ashamed that she was my daughter. The more she tried to justify herself, the angrier I became. The conversation eventually turned to her own divorce. She talked about how difficult everything had been for her and how her husband still plans to move to Washington with their son to be closer to his family. She said that she may have to move there too if she wants to stay close to him. As she spoke, I realized almost everything was about what she'd lost, her marriage, her home, her reputation, and possibly seeing her son every day. Very little of it was about Emma or the damage she'd caused. At the end of the conversation, Chloe asked if we're cool now. I told her, no, we're not cool, and we might never be. I said that if I ever found it
Starting point is 00:12:02 in my heart to reconcile with her, it would be on my terms and in my own time. Not because she thought one conversation could erase four years of lies and betrayal. I walked out feeling angrier than when I arrived. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I love both my daughters. But after that conversation, I'm not convinced Chloe truly understands the pain she caused. When I was reading this, I got the two sisters mixed up. I didn't realize that the cheater was the one who tried to slap the girl who was cheated on.
Starting point is 00:12:34 So when I read that, I just, I totally missed that detail. How can you sleep with someone's husband for four years and then slap the victim, as if you're the one who's been wronged somehow? This woman is, this woman is like a cartoon villain. People in the comments are saying that she's probably a narcissist, and I agree, it kind of sounds that way, doesn't it? That was our slash best of Redditor updates, and if you like this content, be sure to follow my podcast,
