Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to R-slash Nuclear Revenge, where someone gets their skull smashed in. Our next Reddit post is from deleted. My dad told me this story today over lunch, and it seemed completely appropriate for this subreddit. These events took place in the 1970s, in a third world country where justice is obtained with one's own hand and family, for better or worse, unconditionally. My maternal family, on my grandmother's side, is known in her town for having outbursts of anger, the kind that blurs vision and turns everything red and a strong temper. No one in my family embodies these qualities more infamously than my great-grandmother,
Starting point is 00:00:38 Mamadelia. Mamma Delia was an impeccable woman, violent with her words and her fists as well. With Mamma Delia, my grandmother, her siblings, and later my father's generation, making a mistake, no matter how small, was a death sentence. Mama Delia was married to my great-grandfather, obviously, a magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice in my country, and according to my father, a good man, and highly respected by all. But the moment he walked through the door of the house, his authority ended, and my great grandmother's tyrannical rule began. Nothing was done or undone without her will, and as you can
Starting point is 00:01:16 imagine, my grandmother and her siblings resented her greatly. Mamadelia has been dead for 40 years now, but stories of her are still told at my family gatherings. They also say that everyone in my family, my grandmother and her children inherited her choleric gene that comes out from time to time in an explosive and memorable way. My great-grandparents had four sons, but only one as relevant to this story, Jose. Jose was the second and the most rebellious of them all. The one who could not stand mistreatment from Momadelia, and he let her know it all the time. He was the only one who stood up to her, and consequently, the one who suffered the most. It was when Jose turned 15 that he decided never again to let himself be mistreated or abused by her. And of course,
Starting point is 00:02:03 Mamadelia had something to say about it. I don't know the exact details, but it was something my uncle did that upset her deeply. Years before, Mamma Delia would have responded with lashes and screaming, but since my uncle was already 15, he was taller and stronger than his mother. So she had to resort to an alternative tactic. She decided to call a policeman to the house. And, What was her instruction to the policeman to give my uncle the beating of his life? That was the last day my great uncle lived at his parents' house. But where I come from, family is the most important thing, impossible to escape. Four years later, my great-grandparents had moved to their new house in another part of town.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Next to them lived the Cordobes. The parents were normal people, but the son, Rubin, was another story. Ruben was about 25 years old. Ruben didn't study or work or help with household chores. Ruben spent all of his time and energy on two things. Growing his muscle mass until he looked like an Andean Arnold Schwarzenegger and insulting my grandparents every time he saw them walking down the street. My dad couldn't tell me why.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Maybe Rubin was just like that, or maybe Mamadelia said or did something to him at some point. I wouldn't be surprised either. What my dad did tell me was that Ruben's aggressiveness towards my great-grandparents was so extreme that he wouldn't even let them walk on his side of the sidewalk, claiming it was his. My great-grandparents never did anything about it, and for some mysterious reason, they never told anyone what was going on with Rubin either. This is where Jose comes in again. His relationship with his mother was strained and conflicted, which didn't stop him from visiting
Starting point is 00:03:47 them every so often to see his father and his three siblings. That day, my great-grandparents were returning home, and, of course, Ruben shouts, insults, and obscene rudeness were there to accompany them as they opened the door to their house. What he didn't count on was that Jose was arriving at the same moment and heard everything. The world went first black, then red. Like a worthy son of Mamadelia, Jose exploded. He lunged at Ruben three times, all three times with a blow to the face. Ruben knocked him effortlessly to the ground. Faced with such a beast, anyone else, would have abandoned the fight. Jose did not. Jose was used to the pain, the blood, and the bruises that remained weeks later. Jose had lost his fear of confrontation years ago. Jose stood up one last
Starting point is 00:04:36 time under Ruben's insults and taunts and charged him. I don't know how he did it. Perhaps Ruben had let his guard down, but he managed to land a kick on the opponent's shin. Ruben didn't fall to the ground completely, but he was destabilized. Ruben didn't know it, but he had already lost. My great-uncle climbed on his back, as if riding a mad bullet affair, grabbed him by the head, and slammed him repeatedly against the pavement. The smashed face, the teeth scattered on the ground, and the torrent of blood were not enough for Jose. What he did next was grab Ruben by the hair and drag him up and down the street, twice until my older great-uncle stopped him. The story ends with Ruben in the hospital, his face unrecognizable and deformed, and my uncle
Starting point is 00:05:22 disappearing for a week to avoid any kind of retaliation. Never again did my great-grandparents have problems with Rubin, although Jose's relationship with Mamma Delia never improved despite what happened. Geez, Louise, breaking a guy's skull because he shouts insults at your mom in the street is a crazy escalation. Opie's family has some issues. Our next credit post is from He He Hebaugh. Back when I was nine, my mom met this man, Jay. Jay was an unremarkable man. He was a chef, and he was from New York living in South Philadelphia at the time. My mom, being emotionally unstable, decided to give him a try after lots of past relationships not working out. And I feel it's a good time to mention that my biological dad
Starting point is 00:06:09 is dead from a drug overdose. So my mom was desperate for someone to be that guy who's good for her and me. She gives Jay a chance, and out of nowhere, boom, Jay has cancer. It can't out of the blue, and my mom's heartstrings were pulled by him, and she was attached to him for good. I was nine at the time, so of course, I was a stupid kid who never thought my mom could be wrong. Well, I didn't notice her getting black eyes, but my grandfather did. So one day, at a corner store in my neighborhood, my grandfather decided to beat Jay black and blue. Jay was stuck on the couch for days, and looking back, it brings a smile to my face. But Jay convinced my mom that my grandmother manipulated my grandfather to beat him up so that we would have to move.
Starting point is 00:06:57 After an intervention was held, my mom had decided to move. We packed our things in a van, and I held my 90-pound Rot Waller on my lap, and we moved to effing Florida. I'm going to admit, life kind of sucked there. For five years, I was stuck in such a dumpster fire of a state with no family supports. My mom was abused daily, and I was mostly mentally. abused. I also lost my great-grandmother at this time, and I wanted to go back to Philly for the funeral, but Jay said no. Eventually, in 2021, my mom left Jay, and then the worst night of my life happened. I was still in Florida, and I went trick-or-treating with a younger friend. At this point,
Starting point is 00:07:39 my mom wasn't paying for Jay's new apartment because she just wanted him gone. Well, he broke into our apartment, took my puppy for a walk, and smashed everything. My mom decided that. My mom decided that instead of calling the police, she would confront Jay with me alone. So we went, and as a precaution, my mom had a knife on her. When we got there, there was a girl with Jay. A fight ensued, and I called 911. I also beat the stuffing out of Jay. Unfortunately, my mom couldn't see that and thought that Jay was winning, so she stabbed him.
Starting point is 00:08:15 It wasn't lethal. He was so fat that it didn't get anything important, and he didn't even go to the hospital. So when police showed up, they gave a good look at my mom with choke marks from the fight and arrested her for assault and breaking and entering. Well, the trial came and went. My mother was off the hook, but she'd be a felon until a completion of a program. So we left Jay in Florida and decided to move back north to New Jersey. I know that mom breaking up with Jay was on account of me because I pushed hard for it.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Anyways, life continued. But November came around, and I received news that made me, burst out in laughter. Jay's sister told us that he shot himself in the head. I even read his suicide note and everything. I ruined his relationship with my mom and karma came back. Life goes on and he dies unloved and alone. Also down in the comments, O.P. confirms what I suspected. Rennaissance Slacker asks, this may sound crass, but do you know for a fact if he ever had cancer? I've heard a lot as stories of manipulators faking illnesses, sometimes elaborately, to guilt others into complying with them. And OP says, he lied. He definitely did not have it. Yeah, I also thought it was a little bit
Starting point is 00:09:29 suspicious that they enter a relationship and immediately he's got cancer. My guess is Jay wanted to just sit around on the sofa all day while his new girlfriend pays the bills. Our next Reddit post is from a quiet borderline. This is actually a story that my dad told me about one of his childhood friends, George, who recently passed away. Dad and George grew up in a booming city in what's now known as the Rust Belt. You were pretty much guaranteed a job at the major car plant in town. You were pretty much guaranteed a job at the plant in town as soon as you got out of high school. George was one of those people.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Dad wasn't. Dad accepted a scholarship to his dream school to study engineering. During the weekends and holidays, he'd come home and hang out with his buddies, including George. One afternoon, Dad gets a phone call from Grandma. George had been jumped after work and had the metaphorical tar beaten out of him. For a while, it looked like he wasn't going to make it. By some miracle, George pulled through, but was in such bad shape that he had to retire early and go on disability. While on one of his visits home, George's dad, Walter, pulls dad aside and asks him if he knows a guy named Flynn.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Dad had heard the name that Flynn was one of the local troublemakers. He asked Walter why, and Walter revealed that the wallet had been found by George's body and given to him. The paramedics thought the wallet was George's. No, I have no idea why they didn't check it. Unfortunately, the city was going through financial difficulties, thanks to corruption and mismanagement, to the point that they didn't have enough money to pay their police officers during the weekends. No, I'm not kidding. From 8 p.m. Friday night to 6 a.m. Monday morning, there wasn't a single police officer on duty. Since the assault took place on Friday night, there wasn't much anyone could do.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Dad asked Walter what he was going to do about it. Walter looked at him with a stern face and said, I take care of my own. Walter was an army vet who had served during World War II and Korea. He never spoke about his time, claiming that he was a radio technician and never left the base. He never breathed a word to anyone, even George's mother, his wife. The full story never came out until after George's death, when a letter, Walter had written before his death was found in Georgia's possession. After realizing that Flynn was
Starting point is 00:11:48 one of those people who had destroyed George's life, Walter got in touch with his friends. He was a personable guy, you know the type, the kind who makes friends in five minutes. They all agreed something had to be done. And thus, Operation George's Revenge was born. Walter and his friends began observation of Flynn and would keep tabs on him. It took several weeks, but eventually, Flynn and his buddies, Mac and Zeno, were overheard bragging about the attack. Knowing who to attack, Walter moved to the next steps. Walter's friends, some of whom worked in high places, decided to make some phone calls to their friends in the plant where all the three worked. See, these friends worked in the union,
Starting point is 00:12:29 and disgusted about what happened to George, they decided to make things difficult for the troublemakers. They'd remove vital tools for emergency maintenance at the last minute. Put the troublemakers in positions that they weren't good in, and they rearranged their schedule so they got the worst shifts, to name a few. They also began a whispering campaign, so everyone at the plant knew what had happened. In this city back then, who you knew and what everyone thought you'd done was enough to make or break you. The goal was to get them to quit, and after a year or so, all three had quit, frustrated with how they'd been treated. But Walter and his friends weren't done, not by a long shot.
Starting point is 00:13:09 A few calls and anonymous letters later, Flynn, Mack, and Zeno were unemployable in the district. Because they hadn't been fired, they weren't entitled to severance or anything. Soon, their money ran out, but they couldn't get out of town because everyone knew from the whispering campaign what they had done to George. For the rest of their lives, Walter and his friends kept an eye on Flynn, Mac, and Zeno. Just when it appeared that they had an out, the whisper slash letter campaign would start again, and they'd be denied an out. The three men ended up homeless and destitute alcoholics who couldn't even get state aid.
Starting point is 00:13:45 And this isn't a state that's known for its generous aid for those in bad straits. Walter and his friends made a contingency plan to continue this until the three men were dead using the next generation. So those men would never forget what they did to George. Nobody was able to find out anything about Flynn, Mack, and Zeno. But I wouldn't be surprised that they're still stuck. and miserable. Since O.P. specified that Walter was in the military, I assumed Walter was going to beat the stuffing out of them or do some sort of physical threat, but somehow systematically
Starting point is 00:14:17 destroying their lives over decades feels so much more dangerous. Our next Reddit post is from Def's Not Randy Marsh. Years ago, when I was doing pizza delivery, I delivered on campus. Pretty standard procedure. Call the customer and wait in the parking lot. This guy comes down, hands me money, takes the pizza, and walks away. Then he starts to run. I look in my hand, and one of the $10 bills is ripped in half, and the $20 bill is horribly counterfeit. The dude's already back in his dorm, which requires a pass to get in,
Starting point is 00:14:51 so I can't even get in after him. Then I remembered I have his number on my phone from when I called him. So I call the store, tell them what happened, and they mark his number as a prank caller, so no more deliveries. Figured, eh, that's good enough, I guess. Then, as I was leaving, I see campus security talking to a police officer. I stop, walk up, and give them a rundown of what happened. I give the counterfeit bill and the ripped bill to the officer.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Meanwhile, the campus security dude is looking up the phone number in the campus directory. The campus security finds out who it is, and off they go. Ten minutes later, this dude is in the back of a police car, along with his roommate for, one, theft under $1,000, because technically he didn't pay. for the pizza. Two, possession of counterfeit currency. He had more in his dorm. Three, possession of narcotics. Four, possession of a controlled substance. Five, possession with intent to sell. Six, possession of stolen property. And there was another charge, but I can't remember. I guess he posted bail a couple of days later and came down to the pizza shop to have some words with me. But I wasn't
Starting point is 00:16:01 working that night. So the guy started trashing the lobby. and got arrested again for trespassing, criminal mischief, and vandalism. And they found a knife on him as well when they searched him, so there was a weapons charge too, but I think that got dropped. I'm not sure what happened after the second arrest, as I was never called to testify in court, but I'm going to assume he took a plea deal. He most definitely got expelled from university, though.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Down in the comments, we have true gyms of wisdom here from Bonmore, who says, way, that little bit of wisdom about not committing a misdemeanor when you're in the middle of a felony. That was our slash nuclear revenge. And if you like this content, be sure to follow my podcast because I put out new Reddit podcast episodes every single day.
