to R slash off my chest, where a mother tries to protect the man who abused her own son.
Our next Reddit post is from Cut Opposites. I'm a gay male in university right now,
and I live almost six hours from home. I found out that my mother, a 41-year-old woman who's been
divorced for 10 years, is getting married to her boyfriend, whom I had no idea she was dating.
I was happy, until she told me who he is. It's my high school science teacher, Mr. Randy.
My hometown is quite small and conservative, so no one knows I'm gay, not even my family.
Mr. Randy was the only adult, other than my psychiatrist who knew.
He helped me figure out my feelings and validated my desires.
He was very kind and loving to me.
He didn't judge me and gave me extra time for assignments whenever I needed.
Around ninth grade, I started staying at school after hours, because my house wasn't the most
peaceful place for me.
Mr. Randy and I grew close during that time.
And long story short, we started doing it.
The relationship lasted for around three years, then I left for university.
Now, I found out that not only has he been going out with my mother for the last two years,
but they're also engaged.
I don't know how to feel about this.
Is this his way of manipulation?
He knows how my mother treated me, yet he did this.
OPE seems concerned about his mother, which, you know, fair.
he should be, definite red flags from Mr. Randy here. But O.P. doesn't seem to realize that he's been
groomed. I hate to say this O.P., but all that kindness he showed you, that was just him manipulating you
into giving him what he wants. Our next Reddit post is from No Shame. I still can't believe I'm
typing this. My 19-year-old daughter came home from college and told me she's pregnant. When I asked
who the father was, she refused to tell me for days. I thought it was someone married, a professor,
some other situation she was scared to explain. Turns out, it's my former fiancé, the man that I was
supposed to marry 20 years ago. He's 43 now. Apparently, they met at a coffee shop near her campus,
started talking, began dating, and a few months later, she got pregnant. The worst part is that he
recognized her last name almost immediately and knew exactly who she was, but he never told her.
He admitted that he knew that she was my daughter and continued seeing her anyway.
Now they're talking about moving in together and raising the baby.
My daughter keeps saying she's an adult and that they're in love.
I don't want him back.
That's not the issue.
I just cannot understand how a man who once planned a future with me is now having a child with my daughter.
My family is completely divided and honestly I feel like I'm living in some kind of nightmare.
I'm really surprised I had to scroll down this much to see this comments from Brusk Biscuits.
I'm surprised that she's not skeeved out by having the same lover as her mom.
That would have destroyed my psyche at age 19.
Yeah, no kidding, that would have grossed me out, man.
Our next Reddit post is from Double Talk.
I'm a 27-year-old guy, and I took my 15-year-old male nephew swimming at the public pool.
We ran into an old friend of my sister, my nephew's mother.
He's in his early to mid-30s like my sister.
From what I know, they lost contact a while ago.
Before leaving, I was waiting outside for my nephew to get dressed in the changing rooms,
and suddenly he comes running out to me.
He told me that the man from earlier had followed him into the changing room
and then repeatedly asked him to let him watch as he changes.
Of course, my nephew declined,
and the guy got angry and tried to literally tear his swim trunks down
and also grabbed his crotch.
That's when he ran away from the creep.
I went back in to look for the guy, but he was already gone.
I called the police and also my sister.
We told the police exactly what happened, and they checked the camera at the exit,
but it only captured the top of the man's head and there wasn't much to work with.
My sister took about two hours to get there, even though she lives 20 minutes away,
which already irked me a bit.
Then, once she was there, she acted like the whole thing was no big deal and said that we should
drop it to the police.
I told her to give them the guy's full name.
I only knew his first name.
And tell them where he lived when they were in contact.
But she refused and made very lame excuses.
She said she didn't know his last name
and that he never took her to his place
and she doesn't know the address,
only that it was here in the city.
As far as I'm concerned, that's complete BS.
She's been friends with him
all throughout her last year of high school, university,
and even a few years after that.
There's no way she doesn't know his last.
name or where he lived, especially because she would stay at his house, and I know that. I argued back and
forth with her, but she kept playing dumb and brushing the thing off. I called our parents and asked
them if they still remembered more information about him, but they didn't. I am extremely pissed at my
sister, and I don't get why she would protect some P-word who touched her own child. I could tell
how uncomfortable my nephew was with the way that she acted. She said that her old friend isn't
that kind of guy, and that her son must be exaggerating the situation. Before we all left,
I asked if he could stay with me for the night, but she said no, he has school tomorrow. At that
point, she seemed really annoyed and even angry with me for pressing her so much about that guy.
I've never seen her act like this, and it seriously ruined my perception of her. Then OP posted
an update. I checked my nephew's TikTok account, where he sometimes posts videos of him and his
friends doing tricks on his trampoline are playing in his pool. The kids are shirtless in most of the
videos, and I've seen a couple of odd comments, but one account commented under nearly every
single post. Very disgusting remarks. The account name is the first name of my sister's old friend,
and what may very well be his birth year. My nephew told me that he blocked someone with a similar
profile before, but afterwards, this new account started commenting, and he ignored it. The account is
following my sister's account and she's following back. My husband went through the guy's other
followers and eventually found someone's Facebook page that has the guy linked in a post with his full
name. We're giving that information to the police. Now they'll be able to find him. My sister herself
has left a couple of comments on my nephew's videos and I would bet that she saw her friends
very explicit and inappropriate comments on her child's body. My nephew said to me that he's
told her about this account popping up after he blocked the first one. And she told him to just
ignore it because there will simply always be creeps online. I'm so disgusted with her, and I'll
try everything to make him come live with me instead. My first thought, and down in the comments it
seems like other people are thinking the same thing, is that this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's
probably something more going on. Maybe even O.P. Sister is involved in the abuse too. Maybe she's
dating him. I don't know, but there's something
really fishy going on here
beyond the obvious, you know,
P-word crimes.
So I really hope that O.P. is able to pull
her nephew out of that home.
Our next Reddit post is from Jumpy Bunny.
My dad's ignorance almost
killed me as a child.
When I was three years old, I was at a
family friend's house for dinner, and they were serving
a meal with fish sauce. I got an
anaphylactic response to the sauce
and was rushed to the hospital.
My mom told me she remembers
my face going blue in the ambulance. When the doctors found out that it was a reaction to the fish
sauce, they told my family not to give me any fish at all until they found out what fish
caused this reaction. My dad is very skeptical of modern medicine and believes a lot of it is a scam.
And when my doctors told my parents about my allergy, my dad didn't believe them. When he got home,
not even a few days later, he force fed me fish. I got a second reaction and ended up in the
hospital again.
But this time it was a very close call and the ambulance almost didn't arrive in time.
When my mom found out, she got very upset and told my dad that if he ever did that again, she would divorce him.
Even now, my dad is still very skeptical of modern medicine.
He always tries to talk me out of vaccinations or prescription drugs that doctors give me.
He doesn't like surgery either.
And when I needed to get my deviated septum fixed, he couldn't believe I was choosing to go through with it.
He's the kind of man that will take advice from strangers he meets rather than doctors.
When we were in Cambodia, my dad had a massive cut on his arm.
And instead of seeing a doctor, he bought some cream off a lady he met in town and just
used that on his cut.
It ended up infected, and when we got home, my mom nagged him to look after it properly
until he did.
O.P., I don't know if it's your dad's ignorance that almost killed you as a child.
I think it was your dad attempting to kill you that almost killed you as a child.
Your dad basically fed you poison intentionally just as an experiment.
In my opinion, stuff like that should put your dad in prison.

So my wife and I have a close friend of ours,
whom we'll call Kathy, who's part of a five-person polycule,
who all live in a sharehouse together.
For context, my wife and I are both by and we're both artists,
so spending time in queer, non-traditional social circles wasn't unusual for us.
We're also very obviously a married couple.
Anyways, at Kathy's house, they host a weekly family dinner,
and there were usually a handful of other people there too,
partners, dates, and friends of the people in the house.
The house was literally one street over from ours,
so once we realized everyone was lovely and the food was good,
we started showing up pretty regularly.
On our first visit, Kathy had introduced us as exclusive
meaning we weren't polyamorous. Apparently, a few people interpreted exclusive to mean that we only dated
as a package deal. Since we were at dinner very regularly, but a lot of the other guests only came
occasionally, they started filling in the blanks themselves. Somewhere along the line, people decided
that we were part of the household's polycule. Some even concluded that Kathy was our girlfriends.
On one occasion, one of the other residents, Fran, mentioned that it was a shame that were not
Polly, as she'd be interested in dating us if we were ever open to it. At least one person
apparently misheard that as her saying she was dating us, and suddenly we were apparently
in a relationship with Fran as well. None of the people who actually lived in the house believed
any of this. They knew that we were just neighbors who came over for dinner. It was all the other
visitors to the house who collectively built an entire relationship diagram out of assumptions.
We only found out months later when we were at an exhibition opening.
One of the occasional dinner guests was introducing us to someone that we never met before
and described us as the married couple from Kathy's polycule.
We had to stop them and explain that we weren't in the polycule at all.
We just lived a street away and came over for dinner a lot.
They looked very embarrassed and mentioned that they'd already introduced us in that way to like six other
people that night. Apparently, we've accidentally acquired an elaborate polycule backstory that
complete strangers accepted as fact, all because we're bi, artistic, and really liked communal dinners.
O.P., I don't think you did anything wrong here, especially because even if you were a member of the
polycule, that's kind of a strange way to introduce someone without first getting confirmation.
