On my new show, funny you ask, trivia starts the conversation and then things immediately go off the rails. I ask a question. My guests think they know the answer. Sometimes they do. More often, they do not. And then the conversation takes a turn. trivia question turns into stories about career highs, painful bombs, and behind the scenes moments that probably should have remained private. You'll hear confidence, misplaced confidence, bold guesses, wrong answers, quick laughs, and the slow realization that maybe this was a bad

Our next Reddit post is from deleted. This story involves Carrie, my friend, and the heroine of the story. Sharon, the secretary with loose morals. Roger, the IT manager and villain of the story. Ivan, the CEO and company owner, also owner of three or so other small companies,
Starting point is 00:02:24 one of which was in the same office block. And Olivia, Roger's wife. So, My friend Carrie works for a small IT company as a programmer and web designer, along with about eight others, including her manager and her newest colleague Sharon, the secretary. Roger is a womanizing rogue who makes frequent moderately offensive comments about women, customers, and staff, like he has no brain mouth filter. Sharon is, as Carrie puts it, an upwardly mobile skink who will literally blow the boss if he buys her new shoes. So, boner for a bonus. And she's had a bonus, just not for productivity. The first time Carrie knew about Sharon's behavior was late one Saturday afternoon when everyone
Starting point is 00:03:08 had left for the weekend, except Carrie as she had a project. She was beavering away at her desk in a nearly silent office when she heard a squeal. She immediately got up to investigate and found her boss's door ajar. She heard another squeal and walked in. Finding Sharon bent over the desk with her skirt hitched up above her hips. Her boss, trousers round his ankles, balls deep behind her. Roger's expression indicated fury and embarrassment as he sounded to be mid-nut. Sharon had an expression like the cat that had the cream, with no pun intended. She certainly didn't seem bothered about being caught. Roger recovers his composure, puts his trousers back on, and called Carrie back into the room. She hadn't stopped to watch, and threatened to fire her if she let slip what she'd seen.
Starting point is 00:03:59 The instruction was, Tell nobody, act like it never happened. It's important at this point to mention that this was at the height of COVID, and they were looking at the possibility of reducing staff numbers, something which fortunately never happened, but at the time of the story, nobody was sure. Kerry kept quiet. Roger would occasionally remember that she knew what he was up to
Starting point is 00:04:21 and would give her dirty looks, but little more was said. Sharon and Roger were still having regular meetings at work, and Sharon was getting the bonuses that the team should have received. She was also receiving boners, but nobody would have felt jealous had they known. One Saturday, about six months after the initial shock discovery, an opportunity for revenge, and technically malicious compliance, presented itself. Olivia, Roger's wife, popped in.
Starting point is 00:04:48 The staff were still there, and the office was busy and a bit noisy. Roger had excused himself to his office with Sharon early, as he knew his wife would be in later to meet him and wanted to get his end away before she arrived. His wife was early. Olivia was standing at Sharon's desk. Sharon was the secretary, after all, and Carrie saw an opportunity. She offered to help in the absence of a secretary, and Olivia asked to see Roger. Carrie obliged. But apparently, Carrie knows how to get past the lock on the boss's office.
Starting point is 00:05:22 door, like the doorframe is a little too big or something. Carrie was able to open the door as if it wasn't locked and hold it open for Olivia, who walked in to see her husband screwing the secretary from behind. Olivia's eruption was one of incandescent fury, which caused Roger's excuses to melt away. He was trying to explain that it wasn't what it looked like while pulling up his trousers. Sharon, meanwhile, had tried to discreetly leave, but Olivia had turned to. her full wrath on Sharon's direction. So Sharon excused herself by asking Roger why he never told her he was married. He actually had told her, but the ruse worked. Roger stared daggers at Carrie, but she told him that she'd done as he asked. She'd never told anyone, and she acted as if it had
Starting point is 00:06:12 never happened, just as he demanded. Olivia asked what she meant, and she explained in painful detail what had been going on. With Olivia screaming Blue murder at Roger, nobody heard the big boss Ivan arrive. He must have heard the ruckus and come to investigate. At that point, he'd heard enough from outside the office and Carrie was asked to leave. Roger doesn't work there anymore and neither does Sharon. Sharon was dismissed for gross misconduct and Roger is awaiting a court date. Something about fraud or embezzlement or something. Details are sketchy here. information about his marriage. Sorry. Carrie is still at the company, but now works as an assistant manager to a newly appointed female manager. You can tell that Roger really got accustomed to getting
Starting point is 00:07:01 away with it and not suffering any consequences, because banging your secretary, how cliche, on a day when you expect your wife to come visit, is honestly just asking for it. Our next Reddit post is from EW. This tale was told to me as a warning when I started on my first post-college job. I'm relating it exactly as it was told to me. This occurred in the early 80s, so those of you who have grown up with the internet may not understand how we did things in the olden days. There were no smartphone apps to show QR codes for airline tickets. They were paper with red carbon mess. Reservations were done by phone. It was primitive by today's standards. This occurred in Salt Lake City, which if you don't know, family was a huge part of culture. Even at work, family matters took precedence.
Starting point is 00:07:49 and local management knew this and allowed for it. Well, a corporate Big Shot's office minions in another corporate location noticed some slight irregularities and time cards, like days off without pre-approved vacation requests. So he got himself transferred to the Salt Lake City's office to straighten things out. He was pushy, and naturally, he was quickly hated. Big Shot ended up as a middle manager between Tom at the top and Fred. One morning, the secretary Sandra got a call that her daughter was unexpectedly
Starting point is 00:08:18 in town and wanted to have lunch. Naturally, her boss is Fred and above him Tom gave her the okay. The Big Shot did not like that, although it wasn't explained why. Maybe it wasn't by the book. Maybe he was upset that Sandra went over his head. In any event, he decided to stick his nose in. But rather than just say no, he dropped a last-minute, urgent travel request on Sandra's desk. And it had to be done because he expected to fly out that afternoon. Sandra was heartbroken that she wouldn't get to see her daughter, but she had her work responsibilities. Stopping by to drop off some paperwork, Al, an engineer, noticed that Sandra looked a little down, a huge change from her normal chipper mood. He naturally asked why, and Sandra explained.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Al told her, he had no authority, by the way, to go have lunch and we'll take care of it. The big shot got his travel packet, got on the plane that afternoon, and flew off to his meeting. That's when things started to go wrong. The rental car reservation was invalid, and there were no cars available at any of the agencies. All of them had a hold on them pending confirmation from some clients. So Big Shot ended up getting a rent-a-reck. When Big Shot got to the hotel, he found that his reservation was no good. He had to wait around until after the tentative reservations expired, which was after 6 p.m.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Getting suspicious, Bigshot looked at his tickets and found they were one way. He had no flight home. To say that Big Shot was incensed was probably an understatement. The next morning, Tom flew in to join Big Shot, and he gave Big Shot a packet that was marked extremely urgent that had been left on his desk with a note to take it to Big Shot. It was Big Shot's return ticket. On the way back, Big Shot detoured by the corporate head office and got a very senior executive to come with them because of some very serious personnel problems.
Starting point is 00:10:12 The next morning, Big Shot led the senior executive and Tom into a meeting with, with all of Fred's department and began publicly berating Sandra for incompetence and so on. When he got to the part about the tickets, Fred interrupted and told the senior executive that Sandra couldn't have done that. She was on approved time off having lunch with her daughter. That raised the senior executive's eyebrows and got big shot even angrier. The senior executive said that if Sandra didn't mess up the tickets, who did? Fred stepped forward, then Al. And one by one, every single member of Fred's team stepped forward, stepped forward to take responsibility to protect Sandra from Big Shot's wrath. Tom and the senior executive
Starting point is 00:10:51 knew instantly what had happened. Everyone on Fred's team had burned up the phones making tentative reservations for rental cars and hotel rooms, leaving Big Shot stuck with a one-way ticket, worthless reservations, and no alternatives. Within the hour, Big Shot's desk was empty, and his badge had been turned in. It was never explained if Big Shot was fired, or if he just quickly relocated. The senior executive stuck around. to get to know the team. He was very impressed with how the whole team stuck together and protected their own. After he finished telling me the tale, the engineer said bluntly, Don't mess with Sandra. We love her and we will make you pay if you upset her. Message received loud
Starting point is 00:11:30 and clear. As I worked with Fred's team, I got to understand why everyone loved Sandra. She was an absolute gym in the organization, efficient, super friendly, and just an all-around wonderful person. Our next credit post is from Acceptable Meal. In my high school years, I had a typical high school job of a fast food worker at Arbys. Most of the job was very easy. And surprisingly fun, unless there was a real douchebag manager that happened to be working that day. Well, this is a story about revenge on my manager. Our store had a real gym of a female manager that was very out and open about her hating men.
Starting point is 00:12:07 She was a lesbian, nothing wrong with that. And made it very clear to all males that they absolutely did not matter to her. She would give females extra breaks, allow them to be late, give them free food, etc. The males, on the other hand, were treated like actual piles of dog do-doo. The manager would leave us alone during busy time and sit in her car. She would take insane amounts of smoke breaks and whine and complain at us when she'd come back and things would be all backed up. Eventually, several months of her garbage attitude and clear hatred got the best of me, and one day I had enough and hatched a plan.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Arby's at the time used to take call-ahead orders on large workplace or party orders. People would just call in and say they needed X amount of sandwiches for a luncheon. These call-in orders didn't need to be verified in any way. Anybody could call these in. I heard a different manager one time explained to someone that if someone were to call in a $300 order and then ditch the order, he'd probably get fired for allowing that much beef to get wasted. The roast beef product at Arby's is treated like gold. One day, I knew this manager was working with me and I executed my plan.
Starting point is 00:13:19 About halfway through my shift, I used the bathroom and texted a friend that was willing to help me. I simply texted him, it's go time. My buddy then calls our store and puts in an order for 200 roast beef sandwiches, which at that time would have been about 350 bucks. This didn't affect me whatsoever because I was on drive-through that day and didn't need to make food. My manager immediately gets pissed that she had to make all this food, and she starts the process. After about an hour, she gets finished and goes on a tirade about how stupid everyone at that store is. Over the next two hours, it was next to impossible for me to hold in my laughter,
Starting point is 00:13:58 as I could tell she was growing very angry and worried that the order was never getting picked up. I started noticing her making phone calls to other management and upper management people about what the hell to do with 200 roast beef sandwiches. Eventually, it was time for me to clock out and go home, so I did. Over the next several times I worked, I noticed I was not working with this idiot manager anymore. In fact, I never saw her ever again. She either quit or was fired. Guess I'll never know. Our next Reddit post is from Sir Oliver. My dad worked in a factory in Eastern Europe back in the 1980s. I know how weird this would look now in 2020, but at the time, it was pretty common that workers in the factory would come to work drunk or they would drink alcohol at work.
Starting point is 00:14:45 My father was not much different, and he would occasionally bring a bottle of brandy and keep it in his locker. These lockers were pretty easy to access without a key. You would just need a screwdriver or some piece of metal, and the door would be easily bent and returned to its original shape afterwards. The factory was working in shifts, and when you come in the next day, you would just notice that someone had opened your locker and something is missing that you left, inside a day earlier. As my father was bringing quite good booze, it would be missing the next day. After, who knows how many times his booze was stolen, he had enough of it and decided to set a trap for a thief. The brandy he usually brought was a color similar to whiskey. And he took an
Starting point is 00:15:26 empty bottle to the toilet and filled it with his urine and locked it back in his locker and went home after a shift was over. The next day, when he would come to work, people from the previous shift were still there. He came to his locker and noticed that he was there. He came to his locker and notice that the bottle was completely missing. He came to the workspace and loudly asked if anyone knew what had happened to the bottle with urine from his locker. He said that he had to get a medical check as he might have had some urinary infection and he had to bring morning urine, but he had forgotten it in his locker the day earlier. One of the guys turned red and started yelling at my father, how dare he leave urine in a bottle labeled as brandy? That someone could have
Starting point is 00:16:06 mistakenly drank it and gotten seriously sick. After that, his locker was never robbed again, and that guy has gotten a new nickname. Piss Drinker.
