Let's do this! Thank you so much for tuning into today's story. Don't forget to rate and follow, so you never miss out on all the riers, readers, fun.
Before we get into the story, do you want to know a fun fact?
Did you know that octopus ink is dark and gooey, and the octopus uses its ink as a way to protect itself?
When an octopus feels scared or threatened, it will use its ink to make the water dark and cloudy,
giving the octopus a chance to hide or escape.
It's kind of like a secret superpower.
Speaking of secrets, I have a super special secret for everyone after today's paying attention question.
Listen all the way to the end of this episode to get the inside scoop.
See you there.
Okay, story time.
Today, we are going to read How to Get Your Octopus to School by Becky Sharnhorst.
Congratulations!
It's time for your octopus to start school.
Getting your octopus to school won't be easy.
He would much rather stay home with you and play hide-and-seek or dress-up.
But you know your octopus will love to go.
school if he gives it a chance and you'll tell him that as soon as you can find him
this might take a while octopuses are good at hiding very very good after you find him give him a hug
and assure him that school will be fun he won't want to let go octopus suction cups are powerful
Very, very powerful.
But don't worry, tickling will loosen his grip.
Once he lets go, you'll have to help him get dressed.
Encourage your octopus to pick something fun for his first day.
You'll need some extra time because he'll want to try on lots of different outfits.
After he finds the perfect ensemble, compliment his style,
and tell him he'll be the handsomest octopus at school.
But be careful. Hearing the word school might make him nervous. And when octopuses get nervous, they go be prepared for accidents.
After you get him cleaned up, it'll be time for breakfast. Don't turn your back on him while you're spreading the mystery mollisk on toast, or he might disappear.
You'll need to get him cleaned up again and pick out another purpose.
outfit. Then you'll have to finish breakfast quickly. Whatever you do, don't mention all the new
octopuses he'll be meeting. Your octopus is terribly shy and this will make him even more
nervous. He may even jet away and slip through a teeny tiny hole to hide. By now, you'll be
running late. Very, very late.
When you try rushing him out the door, he'll insist on picking out eight of his favorite stuffed animals to bring along.
This will take forever.
But that's okay.
It's much harder to cling to the ceiling fan, the sofa, the end table, the lampshade, the door frame, or you when his arms are full.
When you finally arrive at school,
You'll probably be exhausted, but your octopus will be excited.
You'll watch in surprise as he slides off to play hide-and-seek with his new friends.
And you'll smile proudly when his teacher compliments his dapper appearance.
Wait a few minutes before leaving, just to make sure he's okay.
Then, when your octopus rushes out of his own.
the classroom to give you one last hug goodbye.
It'll be you who has a hard time letting go.
The end.
Don't forget to stick around to see if you can answer today's paying attention question.
Before you go, do you think you can answer today's paying attention question?
How many stuffed animals did the octopus want to bring with him?
If your answer was eight, you did it! Great job! You sure were paying attention! I hope you enjoyed that story. I wonder what we're going to read next.
Did you get the paying attention question correct? This was such a fun story, wasn't it? Okay, as promised, I have a secret for you. Are you ready?
