Let's do this! Thank you so much for tuning into today's story. Don't forget to tell your grown-up to go check out the Ryers Reader's Instagram for more fun content.
Before we get into the story, do you want to know a fun fact?
Did you know that sunshine can help your body stay healthy?
Being in sunlight enables your body to make vitamin D in your skin cells.
Vitamin D or the sunshine vitamin
helps the body grow a strong immune system.
A strong immune system helps your body fight off germs
and keeps you healthy.
You still need to wear your sunscreen though,
especially if you're going to be playing outside
for a fun afternoon in the sun.
Pretty cool, huh?
Okay, story time.
Today, we have a lot of time.
very special Ryers' readers request from five-year-old Noel in Mountain Home Idaho, USA.
Noel requested to hear Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krause Rosenthal.
I hope you enjoy this story, Noel. Let's do this.
In almost every way, Uni was like all the other unicorns.
Magnificent Maine, though Unis was extra magnificent.
Golden hooves, though Unis were extra golden.
Sparkling purple eyes, though Unis were extra sparkling.
Like the other unicorns, Uni had a special swirly horn with the power to heal and mend.
And like the other unicorns, Uni could make wishes come true.
But there was one thing that definitely set Uni apart.
Juni believed that little girls were real.
Uni's friends laughed and said,
Ha ha ha, silly uni, everyone knows there's no such thing as little girls.
They are just make-believe.
At home, Uni's parents just brushed it off with knowing smiles.
But Uni was certain, absolutely certain, that little girls were real, no matter what everyone else said.
Juni knew that somewhere far away, but not that far away.
There was a little girl waiting, a strong, smart, wonderful, magical little girl.
And she would be the best friend a unicorn could ever ask for.
Uni imagined all the things they would do together.
They would run fast through the meadow.
They would spin and twirl in the sunlight.
They would explore and help forest creatures in need.
Other times, they would just sit quietly and talk about important things.
And of course, of course, of course, they would slide down rainbows together.
Uni fell asleep that night and had enchanted dreams.
What Uni did not yet know, but would discover soon enough, was that somewhere far away, but not that far away, there was indeed a real little girl.
And even though her friends said, Unicorns are just make-believe!
And despite her parents' knowing smiles.
This little girl was certain, absolutely certain, that there was a unicorn,
a strong, smart, wonderful, magical unicorn, just waiting to be her friend.
The end.
Don't forget to stick around to see if you can answer today's paying attention question.
Before you go, do you think you can answer today's paying attention question?
What color was Uni's hooves?
If your answer was golden, you did it!
Great job! You sure were paying attention!
I hope you enjoyed that story.
I wonder what we're going to read next.
Bye, Noel. Good luck in Singapore.
