Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello, the audio that you're about to hear is from a live stream that we did for episode 100 because it was live and we didn't want to spend forever setting up. The audio doesn't sound amazing. It doesn't sound as good as our usual episodes. My audio sounds a little crispy. Alex sounds really quiet for the first 10 minutes before we fix it. It's not great, but whatever, it's there. Here's the audio-only version of episode 100. If you want to see the live stream, it is still. available on YouTube.com slash sardonicast so watch it there if you want to see the video and everything too thank you it's working yeah I just had to click on it again brilliant brilliant okay yeah so there would I guess the what should the intro be we've already started I don't know you can either pretend that like we're starting now like a normal episode or just go with a flow I don't know yeah I brought Alex to a furry convention.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yes. Yeah, we can start there. It wasn't actually a part of the plan. I didn't just try to trick you into coming here for a furry convention. If I was going to do that, I would have made the plans for a week earlier because there was one right in Vancouver. But I was just kind of like, oh, there's one happening in Seattle. My head had it described to me as a kind of PG one, whatever that means? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:29 It's run by like a Christian person. Yeah. But it doesn't matter because. It's just room parties anyway. Yeah. Yeah, it was really fun. Yeah, I'm really glad you took me along. Yeah, I can't believe I missed this.
Starting point is 00:01:41 It's like a really loving community. Tell me about it. First get like a little... Next time, next time, I'll make you go to a furry convention, Ralph. But you can't back out now that you've, now that you've implied you would like this. Now that you've implied you would go, you can't back out, though. I never implied anything. You said, you just said you wish you came?
Starting point is 00:02:01 You just said you wish you were there? I wish I was there Yeah, just to see you To watch us go to the very convention From a distance Yeah How's that a iced wine? Yeah so
Starting point is 00:02:14 I'll describe the ice wine I guess Because it's not something I'm familiar We've never heard of before Yeah It's like a sweet syrupy kind of Yeah which they make with like Freezing grapes that just don't die But they're just frozen enough
Starting point is 00:02:30 To create this hyperestown a sweet wine. This is my first sip of it. Yeah. It seems good. I didn't know it was like so weirdly Canadian. I was like, how come you've never had ice wine? Yeah. Yeah. I've had boxed wine. Yeah, that's pretty, yeah. We were walking by a Walmart in Seattle and one of the boxed wines said it had a very buttery taste. I'm like, do I want my wine to taste like butter? Yeah, we're a combo. I don't know if I want butter in my wine. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. So anybody watching this?
Starting point is 00:03:06 Oh, thank you for all the super chats. If you got questions, I like looking at the chat. We'll be doing super chat stuff at the end. It saves all of them, and I can just double check here to make sure I have the right thing open. As I said, I usually stream on Twitch.
Starting point is 00:03:20 So we're all kind of nobs to this. Ooh, a thousand people, a thousand concurrent viewers? Does that mean? I don't know how this shit works. Yeah, I don't know. All right. What does this even mean?
Starting point is 00:03:31 Fanboy, tell me how many viewers I have. Yeah. All right, yeah, see, here's the list. And then you can just click see all, and we got all the superchats. And we can read those at the end of the stream. Thank you. And this stream also, I usually our episodes are like, I don't know, anywhere from an hour and a half to like two hours or something. We don't really know how long this is going to go for.
Starting point is 00:03:54 We're going to try and include the regular stuff talking about the movies that we were recommended. and then just kind of decide, you know, just feel it out, shoot the shit. Ralph, can you move again? I think I need to... There you are. You're just being very still. You were just a very still boy. Yeah, he's being very still.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Okay, I'll have to keep in the hand. I was just trying to move in a way, so like I was perfectly lined up. Oh, I can just, I can, what do you mean? You're right next to me. I don't know what you're talking about, right? You were freezing in real life. Ralph, wake up. Pretend to be like, pretend to be looking at you?
Starting point is 00:04:28 Should I pretend to be looking at you? at you? You are looking at us. Yeah, what are you talking about? I don't know. You're acting crazy. Yeah, yeah. You're being hysterical. It's abuse. Oh.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Yeah, this, uh, no plan. Did we all watch sponge spang boob? Oh, no, actually, I forgot to. Oh, fuck. You turned your eyes off. I watched it. We watched it. Are you joking? Do you actually watch? watched it. And also he's memorized it
Starting point is 00:05:01 anyway, so even if he didn't. I know this movie. It doesn't even matter. You want to go right into those? I want to talk about the Spider-Man trailer. Okay, let's talk about all that shit. Yeah. No rules today. Yeah. So which trailer is this? We didn't play anything out.
Starting point is 00:05:15 The one with the Oh, the one with the invisible thing punching. Oh, yeah, with the edited out Spider-Man. Yeah, where they're being very brazen about what the plot is, but still pretending like Toby and Garfield aren't in the movie when it's like...
Starting point is 00:05:33 The worst kept secret. Yeah, it's really annoying actually because, I don't know, I guess we're talking about it. Like, that's the whole point, but I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. I guess they're kind of... People said the trailer gave away too much. That's what people were saying about the trailer.
Starting point is 00:05:46 It was saying a little too much. Yeah. Is that just a Sony thing? Because they did the same for that game too. The PS4 Spider-Man. They just spoil a bunch of the stuff. I can turn out. That's what every trailer does.
Starting point is 00:05:57 But what? Do you have high hopes for? it or because I do I think it's gonna be good but the trailer showed all the villains basically mm-hmm it showed everything it showed Doc Ock it showed I saw one good point the electro it showed electro it might be able to avoid the like villain like too many villain problem that loads of superhero movies fall into because they're just literally taking villains from other movies that you already know yeah it's a weird approach let's you got Green Goblin too it shows all that just Sandman Lizards
Starting point is 00:06:28 it's weird it's weird it's weird if you're advertising your movie and you're trying to get people to go see it
Starting point is 00:06:35 what? Electro like that's what you're advertising and not to just give us a glimpse of Toby like that would be
Starting point is 00:06:42 that would be like the most type now people are seeing it it based on like I know I wish they would they should green guzzal Toby and Andrew Garfield
Starting point is 00:06:49 right? Yeah they should Willem Defoe come and they changed to the mask it was just his voice but yeah
Starting point is 00:06:56 yeah he looks different it changed a little bit I just like there's loads of Alfred Molina because I think he's perfect for Doc Ock and they can do some shit with him. He's more of like a comedic relief kind of character
Starting point is 00:07:07 like in that scene they showed where he's like he's kind of getting along with Spider-Man which is I guess interesting I don't know. Yeah I don't know. I'm just I'm watching it at an obligation. That's how I feel. No, no, I'm actually looking forward to it.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I just don't know. I hope it's not like a ready of player one type situation. That's what we keep saying. Yeah. It just seems like a lot going on. With all the nostalgia shit that's being made right now? I don't know what it is about this one that doesn't bug me yet. It depends on the execution, but like,
Starting point is 00:07:37 Spider-Man has always had this multiverse shit, and I don't know. It could work, it could. I want to see them have a scene where they incorporate Spider-verse shit, and it's like, oh, this scene's animated now. You know? Yeah. That'd be cool. They're already revealing so much about it,
Starting point is 00:07:55 and not the parts that I feel like they should be if it's to get people I don't know I'm not I'm not the target demographic I guess maybe I'm just Because Sony they did the blade runner stuff as well didn't they
Starting point is 00:08:06 Yeah Sony screwed up really bad one That was really annoying Yeah and then the movie Wasn't considered a success And then they blamed Dennis Villanueva For it
Starting point is 00:08:17 Sony king good baby Sony's need to work Yeah The marketing's bad on Sony I think they did Ghostbusters I think that was them Yeah That was a long time ago
Starting point is 00:08:25 Well at least they got sick-ass song for Venom, right? That's Sony marketing. They're responsible for that. Oh yeah, and Venom's supposed to be in that. Yeah. Do we, I'm... That's right.
Starting point is 00:08:37 We've... Yeah, I don't know. Or is that a spoiler? I don't know. I feel like if they were going to advertise all the villains together, including Electro and, like, Sandman and all that shit. It's like, why would they not show Venom? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:49 It would probably be in a montage or something. It would be a little quick. They didn't show Venom. He might be in it. They showed literally every villain except Venom. that might be another surprise he might be in it even if it's a post-credit thing what's a surprise what even is a surprise when when venom shows up that'll be a surprise i'll be so surprised like the comedy in the in the trailer wasn't like that good yeah wasn't that funny no it never is
Starting point is 00:09:16 it might not land 100% i'm sure there's funny parts in the movie but every at least in the trailer it didn't land 100% every john wants spider Man film has me in the theater being like, oh, that was, that was all right. And then two days go by, I'm like, I don't remember anything. And it's like nothing really connected with me. It's just maybe I was expecting worse. And just being in the theater and having that energy, I was like, oh, that was not as bad as it could have been. I just find him such an endearing character.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Sorry. It's hard to make a bad Spider-Man movie, I think. I like all of them. I think all of them are great, except those. Yeah, except the Mark Webb ones. Well, there's some people like them. I've heard some reviews where they praise them. Even the second one?
Starting point is 00:10:02 The second one I couldn't understand. Yeah, some people like it. What has been your favorite thing about Vancouver? Got to say, being here with you. Aw. That's so cute. So sweet. The food's particularly good, I've got to say.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Also, awesome seafood and the environment, too. Yeah. It's just, this is exactly what I needed after all this COVID shit. And now, like, just to travel a bit more. Yeah. Yeah, so it's a beautiful city. Glad to have you here. And you're not going to get COVID a third time because you're the most immunized.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Yeah. Because you've recovered naturally twice and are double vaccinated. So if you get COVID, maybe there's just something wrong. Should I get a booster as well when I get home? That's triple boost. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of testing.
Starting point is 00:10:57 We got randomly selected coming back from the land border to do at-home COVID tests that took like an hour to do. And that was like really annoying because we were trying to do the stream yesterday. Yeah. Yeah, because I was really hoping that I was able to have like a little nap or something before we could start that stream. I didn't have any time. But we couldn't because we had to do this legally required test. Yeah, it was so silly. You just, it was like, well, it was like they randomly selected the vehicle.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Like the computer told them that they had. They're like, okay. They do the same thing at the airport. although I've had enough flights during COVID and it's never happened to me. This was like the first time. But they just give you like a test kit and they're like, you got to go home and do this. You have to read all this nonsense.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And then you have to like schedule a video call with like, I guess, a physician. That's the crazy part. And then they have to watch you doing it to make sure you didn't just stick it in your dog's mouth or something. You know, like so. Yeah, that phone was particularly good as Lee and stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:53 We might do some ramen later. today. That sounds good. A very efficient trip. I'm like a drill sergeant trying to fit in everything. It's awesome. You went. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:06 It's awesome. Sorry, I'm just looking at the chat. You're looking at the fruit, Ralph. I'm with you in the room. The chat's not there. I have to do this. I'm about to do a funnier reveal.
Starting point is 00:12:24 here's what's underneath. Oops, that's not how it works. Here's what's underneath. All right. The illusion's been broken. They actually sell that at the Mass Effect official Bioware store. Yeah, that's Garris, right?
Starting point is 00:12:43 Yeah, it's Gary. It's Gerald. Gary. Carol? Is that his name? It's Garris. It's not a big Massify. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:54 scares yeah yeah yeah I'm trying to get through the third one gerald's gerard mr butler how far are you then I must way through um probably like 70 80% at least do you remember the level because I'm quite familiar with that game I couldn't tell you the last thing I did because it's all just so boring in that one yeah it all just like yeah I didn't remember how bad the one was I remember how bad the one was I remembered how bad the ending was, but the whole, like, yeah, I wasn't expecting the whole game to be, like, such a slug. Yeah, yeah. Combat's great, but that doesn't really make up for...
Starting point is 00:13:33 I, um, recorded, like, a MassFit 3 review with my brother, like, months ago. Um, but I stupidly forgot to, like, record the gameplay while playing it. So now I'm like, fuck. I'm not, I can't go back and play again for footage. Just use my gameplay footage. Yeah, I might have to. It might be better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:52 And then I own your video. According to YouTube's copyright policy. Yeah, MSVOT2 is still fantastic. I've been playing that. That's the remastered one you're playing, yeah. How's GTA remastered, Ralph? Yeah, I told you, I got that definitive edition. It's fucking terrible.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Your best game ever. Describe what's so terrible at it about it. Because like I have only heard, like, tiny... It just feels unfinished. I've just seen screenshots. Basically what people are saying, like, the, the people made like the mobile games for GTA, made like the PC, remastered. They're called the definitive edition,
Starting point is 00:14:26 which is so stupid. That's like a terrible title. And they're just like barely upgrades really. And it feels unfinished and there's no there's like glaring issues like there's no fog, like there's no draw distance. Like it all looks fake.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Like the rain is too like bright. Like you can't see anything. It's probably rushed. The character designs are terrible. Yeah there's like there's tons of posts on like Reddit or whatever of like the character design and like one guy looks like Patrick the star the proportions are all off like
Starting point is 00:14:59 a guy on a bike his arms are like huge it's yeah it's like completely broken and now they're issuing they're not issuing refunds but they're given out like the regular games not definitive edition for free I heard that they'll put them in my library so I'm like that's good I get that at least
Starting point is 00:15:19 I mean the games are terrible they've solved the situation yeah okay And I think I get $10 for like my next purchase from Rockstar. That's really funny. If I ever buy a Rockstar game again. Yeah. So that's why that's what I got. I heard that like people.
Starting point is 00:15:33 I got three broken games for $60 and then old games. Yeah. Yeah. That came out years ago. So that was fun. I heard that that people like were able to get all of the source shit from it because it was just so easy to exploit. And they found files for like unreleased things like the hot coffee controversy. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:52 It was like way. back in the day, they were like, there might be a sex thing in the game. And now it's like, oh, whatever, you can just, like, nobody cares now. It's so pedestrian, but at the time. Why wouldn't you remove it in the definitive edition? Yeah, they didn't know what was there. There was like some copyright music. There's some music
Starting point is 00:16:09 they didn't on the rights too that was in the game. It was in like the source files and that's what they were removing. They actually took the game off of like the Rockstar launcher for like a day so I couldn't even play it. Yeah, well they figured out what was in there. Yeah. It's nuts. Like I for this game I can't even play it for like two days.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Could you imagine releasing something that you didn't know what was in it? Just being like yeah this I mean I think it's yeah why would they keep hot coffee in it? It's not looking good for the rock star I mean yeah like the main writer guy was a bad choice. He wrote you the Red Dead 2 he's like gone I don't know I don't know what they're doing. Mm hmm yeah yeah ice wine's all right it's a little too sweet but if you've never had it it's kind of like yeah I don't know how I'm gonna finish this class it's so sweet. I'll just have to drink it.
Starting point is 00:16:56 I'll give it to him. I'll have the old sip. Oh, Ralph, you want to? Here. Yeah. It's delicious. Alex, what to your real opinion? Yeah, we'll palm us.
Starting point is 00:17:10 I brought some for you, didn't I? Got some white? Mars bars. Yeah, you did. Some various confectionery from here. Yeah, we were trying to, we were trying to shower each other in weird UK or Canadian things.
Starting point is 00:17:23 so the first thing I did when he was here I brought him to a place that serves Putin, Putin, yeah. And I made sure we were stocked with ketchup chips like so so like Chris so like lays like big brands
Starting point is 00:17:41 will make ketchup flavors that they only release in Canada for some reason it's so funny because we went to the Walmart in Seattle and it was like every flavor you could imagine except ketchup because they're just like ooh this Canadian I don't understand. Ketchup. Yeah, ketchup chips.
Starting point is 00:17:55 They're good. They're good. Nothing wrong with them. And then some all-dressed ones. And yeah, Alex brought me some... Some Jaffa cakes. Some Jaffa cakes. Some Jammie Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Jammy Dodgers. Yeah, just whatever the most English silly names is what the whole convention I went for was. Some hob knobs. They were your favorite. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:18 It's been... I know Jaffa cakes. I've heard of those. Yeah. Alex, when he needs... to find the washroom or restroom or bathroom. He says the bog. Yeah, sorry, got to pop to the bog.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Yeah, because what you say, washroom is kind of the default I've heard. In Canada, it's washroom. Yeah. But in America, it's restroom or bathroom. Okay. Bathroom. No one, if you say washroom,
Starting point is 00:18:46 no one in the States knows what you're talking about. Okay. They're like, why would you wash in there? I bathe. I go to the bog. Shrek in that room. In the U.S.S. Like, fucking Shrek's shack in the swamp.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Yeah, you go to the bog. Mm-hmm. I got Alex to try out VR chat. We didn't record it, though. Yeah, that was an experience. Yeah. The Pekipi is. Yeah, we have a mutual friend that basically lives inside VR chat and hasn't left for the past two years.
Starting point is 00:19:14 So. It's like ready player one. Yeah, literally. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:21 It's kind of funny. But, yeah. Yeah, exactly. And so we met with a few friends and did some like drinking game or whatever. Show, you know, found some cool epic worlds. Yeah, I never realized quite how deep it went. Like the underground communities and the like custom built maps and stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Some of them are really impressive. Like these eye tracking stuff. You're like destroying stuff around a dragon. It's like some wacky. Yeah. People, um, people will just recreate other games. like amogus or whatever you can play inside it 2.5k viewers thank you fanboy I don't know how to tell so yeah the are we gonna talk about Eternals now we're gonna do
Starting point is 00:20:07 that next episode because we're recording the next one early and we yeah yeah we talked about Spider-Man that's your Marvel for we talked about a Spider-Man film that's not out yet very briefly yeah very briefly anyway about VR chat just I guess one last thing. I just every game that I've been super impressed by, like in recent memory, like, maybe not everyone, but the ones that stand out to the most
Starting point is 00:20:32 and leave like such a big impression are the ones where it's, there's just so much freedom in terms of like user creativity and just, here's what the world can do. It's almost like those like that
Starting point is 00:20:48 zodiac riddle or like solving codes for like DNA in science. They're just like, let's let everyone figure this out. And then just collectively there's enough people that it's like, oh wow, there's some really talented, smart people at there. It was really fun. We're moving around these tubes and everyone's like trying to get this ball to go through
Starting point is 00:21:06 the physics puzzles, like a half-life game or something. That was really cool. Yeah. Yeah, loads of creativity in there. Yeah. Get VR chat, Ralph. Okay, I'll help you. I mean, if you have a VR thing, it's like a free thing. I do. I do have a VR set up. I just don't have VR chat. I don't think I've ever played it. It's wild.
Starting point is 00:21:25 It's fucking, if you do it, just hit me out. Definitely not for long. I haven't lived in there. Okay, in VR chat, yeah, yeah. Yeah, PD, Pety is very theatrical when he does, so he'll have, like, certain maps. There'll be, like, things that are, uh, that are just going to happen at certain times, no matter what, like, an explosion over there or, like, some crazy music drop in, like, a rave or something. And I guess Pedy's done it so many times. that like when he was showing Alex he's like
Starting point is 00:21:55 pretending he's the one doing it for me and I'm about to do this and it's just like with like perfect time yeah he's like oh wow he's memorized this whole thing but he lives there so he's actually stuck he can't take the helmet off it's like a goosebumps story
Starting point is 00:22:10 it's like glued to his head yeah we love you PD that was fun yeah it was really fun Adam plays VR chat when we did one we did the fucking uh that horror game one with limbless wifu
Starting point is 00:22:24 anyway oh yeah Alex I guess we didn't talk about this voice crack in live this time I think it's your turn to recommend we're not going to do this yet but I'm just making sure you're aware at the end of the episode
Starting point is 00:22:36 I have one prepared okay good yeah wasn't sure if you realize you want to talk about fucking SpongeBob I mean do you want to talk about SpongeBob yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:22:48 I think the voice actor actually does that yeah I think he does as well yeah legendary yeah and view count plummets yeah sorry to delay um who introduces it the chat voted for it so Alex since I mean I suppose you're the most intimately familiar with this film talk about my favorite movie ever yeah sponge Bob square pants movie from 2004 yes Let me just grab my notes here. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:23:25 So this is kind of the ultimate SpongeBob conclusion. That's what it's supposed to be, I suppose. Like it originally was it's kind of the series finale of SpongeBob, like a celebration of the story and the fans and putting a full stop on it, kind of, as it were. Because there's a dark period of SpongeBob where the creator left. It was after this movie came out. The show got really bad. Oh, the creator left like right after the movie show. Yeah, it's all the context I was hoping for.
Starting point is 00:23:52 for with you. Yeah, yeah. So, uh, yeah, he left. And there's like a really bad run of SpongeBob. And I think he came back for a bit, but then he sadly passed away. And I look, they're still making episodes. And I've never seen any of these new ones. But I've got a really fun place in my heart for SpongeBob. It's, I don't know, a huge part of my childhood and the, just the way it's baked into meme culture now and all the, like, early YouTube animator stuff, like using all the poses and the funny close-ups and everything. it's like absurdist world with a really good sense of humor and yeah I'm a big fan of this movie as far as a SpongeBob movie's concerned I think it's about what you could ask for there's some stuff I don't like about it but I think it's really fun and entertaining
Starting point is 00:24:38 I dig it I'm more a fan of the show than the movie though yeah I mean the early the show like if I were to have like more positive memories about moments, they're probably not all going to be from the movie. They're going to be from like the show. Yeah, I probably would have been a bit younger, I guess, when the movie came out. So, yeah, I would have connected it on a different level. But yeah, what about you, Ruff? Do you, do you dig the early SpongeBob?
Starting point is 00:25:03 Because they've made a few of these movies at this point. Yeah, there's like three movies. I've seen them. This is the best one. Yeah, by far. When that original creator is on the series, that's when it's at its best. Yeah. Those first three seasons are like probably some of the best kids like television ever. Yeah. Like in terms of just like how funny and original it is.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Like all the best episodes are in those first three seasons basically. And like once he's gone, like yeah, it kind of not completely falls apart. There's still like a couple gems in there. It does fall off pretty hard once he leaves. Yeah, they're pretty forgettable. Yeah. Yeah. They get pretty bad. Yeah. The best episodes are those, you know, the pizza delivery one and the crusty crab training video, whatever. Those are all early. Yeah, the training video is one of my favorite episodes.
Starting point is 00:25:53 There was a question about the screen short earlier. That would be one of mine. Yeah. If you had like a top 10 list, like everyone would have different episodes on it. But everyone would go like, yeah, that's a great episode. That's a funny episode. Yeah, yeah. I remember a good, like, superhero power of you on.
Starting point is 00:26:07 The movie, yeah. The movie is all the characters in it. It hits all the check marks, I think. in terms of like the nostalgia I think it's really funny too and it has like that same sense of humor that he has like those first yeah it's like absurdist silly over the top
Starting point is 00:26:23 quite slapstick a lot of reliance on like the yeah the funny close-ups really silly exaggerated animation like it really doesn't take yeah it doesn't take itself seriously at all in the best way that's what the movie's about too
Starting point is 00:26:35 because the main characters are such kids they're so they're so goofy but and everyone keeps putting them down for it It's just about him coming to terms with himself, basically, and being comfortable in his own skin. Yeah, there's some good morals in there, too. Yeah, sure. I wasn't being rude. I was posting the link in our social media accounts.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Okay, shut up. I was listening to them. Go. Yeah, how dare you? Go sponge yourself. I was going to ask, so the way you're describing it almost, I was unaware of this, but the way you're describing it almost makes it sound like it's like a really, singular vision despite how many different episodes there are you're implying that it's like mostly just like one guy with all the great ideas or like things you know there's like a noticeable
Starting point is 00:27:24 fall when one person left or do you think it was like a group of people or writers because the simpsons is kind of like that but it was more like a team of writers with the simpsons and one by one they left and it was like oh okay well this is kind of i don't know in that kind of granular detail but it does seem to be a direct correlation with Stephen Hillenberg who created the show. He clearly has a sense of humor that can only be captured if he's directing. Because it is quite a weird show. It's part of what I like about it.
Starting point is 00:27:55 It's like the character designs are quite wacky and the jokes are quite surreal, like cans of hair spray going in eyes and just like weird over-the-top humor. Kind of like disturbing it points too. Yeah, that's what's so funny about it. It's like, that kind of run in stymour. more so later on it gets really disturbing. Yeah, that's a good comparison.
Starting point is 00:28:13 That's when it got bad. Like John Kaye stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did John Kay, like, invent or popularize the whole, we're going to do a single frame of animation, and it's going to be hyper-detailed, but it's not going to be animated, and that'll, like... If you think about it, like, budgetary, the amount of space that that takes up to hyper-detail one image is probably comparable to moving images that are less detailed within that same
Starting point is 00:28:37 time frame? Yeah, that's the... Yeah, that's what I think of. when those close-ups come to mind. But it always works as like a punchline. Oh, yeah, it's great. The visual gags that are in the movie. And the general level of animation is really solid as well.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Like above the show, I guess, at this time. It's not the most detailed or anything, but there's a nice sort of weight to the movement and is suitably cartoonish for what you want. And, you know, good storyboarding. There's some fun sequences. I like the... There's some good detail in some of the shots.
Starting point is 00:29:10 like the big fish monsters coming out of the sand and stuff. It's just suitably creative and SpongeBob and just crazy. Yeah, I'm just realizing Ren and Stimpy and SpongeBob also have very similar music being used. A lot of like the old 60s kind of like TV dinner commercial sort of thing. I think we all find the music really funny. I love it. I use it in my videos. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Yeah. Not as much anymore as well. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's part of it too. I think that's the original creator, like the music. There's a lot of music in this movie. It's almost, it's not a musical, but there's not a musical number.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Yeah, it has a musical number. Quite a few. Quite a few. There's one at the end, now that we're men, you know, that one. That one's funny. Bring on the hate. I don't think the musical numbers were that great.
Starting point is 00:30:03 In fact, I was kind of like, because they actually divert enough time and effort into making musical sections in this film where like this is the time for a song I really just wish they were better composed they're really basic now that were man
Starting point is 00:30:19 bab bam bam bam bam bam but like it's it seems no different than the quality of a song on any kids television show and not only is this something that in all other senses is just is well above other kids television shows this is also a film it's also a movie
Starting point is 00:30:36 and so you know like when South Park wrote song for their movie. Like, they went all out. You know, they didn't, they didn't just write,
Starting point is 00:30:45 oh, here's a farted out song that we can put in any episode. They actually made, I think they got nominated or won an Oscar. They got nominated for an Oscar
Starting point is 00:30:52 for one of their songs. Like, they did lean way more into the musical element that self-part. Yeah. And I love music, so obviously.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Yeah, yeah. It was just, that's something that was lacking for me. The Goofy Goober song would, no one would remember it
Starting point is 00:31:05 if they didn't spam it throughout the entire film, you know? Yeah. It doesn't hold up on it. I don't know, I like the goofy guber moment. It's all like crescendos to that point is, you know. The way it's used at the end.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Spoiler section for SpongeBob. Spoiler's guys. Spoiling. And now you can see his hand. Spoiler warning. This is what we do every time we say, spoil, we say stop. I just have stop written on my hand.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Can you hold my arm? It's been there the whole time. Everybody. The thumbnail screenshot. We're not going to do that. someone else will screen shut it for something yeah I love the way it's used at the end with you know the over dramatic nature
Starting point is 00:31:46 of like and the tear it be the tear of the goofy goobers well the live action stuff is something oh I love it yeah the way it's done is so that's so scrant it's so silly
Starting point is 00:32:00 it says the tone really well I think that's like a perfect cameo because like all the parents know them like yeah and it was like the kids of like no idea like, but it's still hilarious. Yeah, I found that hilarious as a kid. He's the guy from Baywatch, yeah, and he's just a lifeguard again.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Like, that was, I thought that was pretty perfect actually. Yeah, this one's for the boomers. It's funny because... It's like a perfect celebrity cameo. Three years later, he got canceled for being a drunk idiot and filmed by his daughter trying to eat a burger off of a floor while he couldn't walk. So this might be...
Starting point is 00:32:32 That was probably the last time he could be in a family film. Yeah. He caught him at a good moment. yeah I remember sorry I'm not gonna we'll read that comment at the end some of the super chats are tempting to respond to but we'll save them for me a big part of the enjoyment of this movie is the character of plankton love it he's one of the funniest villains to me he's just so his gimmick is really funny with his Karen like wife and his just being crushed yeah yeah and it's the voice acting they will have
Starting point is 00:33:05 classic voices they're all classic characters you know yeah yeah Very. Plankton's voice actor's great. Mr. Crabs. Those just come to minds like some of the best. Scarlett Johansson's in this movie. Okay, everyone to talk about signing. I know.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I'm like, I don't like her character. She's good. I thought, really? Yeah. Mandy the mermaid? Was that it? Mindy?
Starting point is 00:33:27 Mandy? Yeah, she's the biggest problem I have, I think, with the movie. Just in terms of voice acting. It's like just too far kitty. You know, with the, we just got to believe. Shit. And I don't know. It's really weird because, like, they just spend most of the movie going, you're hot.
Starting point is 00:33:47 And that's like most of her character, I guess. It's weird. Yeah, that's what Plankton says. That's what fucking Patrick says. Yeah. Oh, no, I'm sorry, Patrick. Yeah. Patrick, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Patrick, yeah. Well, Patrick's stupid, too. Yeah, I don't know if a kid's cartoon would include that now what that is from. If you're going to have everybody, all right, character. about that. It better look like fucking Lola Bunny or some shit,
Starting point is 00:34:12 okay? That's all I'm going to say. I like Scarlet Johansson. She was fine in this movie. The other like guest voice actors
Starting point is 00:34:20 are good as well. The other villain character, the, Alec Baldwin. He worked well for it, yeah. Did it a good job?
Starting point is 00:34:27 Yeah. Like mocking the extra like manliness thing with the, pulling his mask down and forcing a mustache
Starting point is 00:34:36 to grow. That's fun. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's a very decent movie. I was never like that wowed by the level of writing or gags or anything, really. I was like, this is fine. This is a nice little snapshot in history.
Starting point is 00:34:57 This is a nice little point of time to feel nostalgic for. This came out when I was like, I think 13 years old. And I haven't seen it since. And I do remember the memetic energy. of the goofy goober song at the time. I remember kids were doing that. And I think that was definitely intentional because they repeated it so many times.
Starting point is 00:35:18 And remember also, this is the point in time where they've had a few years to look at Pokemon and the borderline cult-like energy surrounding that where it's like, oh, just repeat this. Gotta catch them all.
Starting point is 00:35:32 There's like a playbook of how to get children to advertise your movie for you. And so SpongeBob was like, oh, I see. the Goofy Goober song Yeah They did it with absurdist humor
Starting point is 00:35:43 Yeah Yeah I just think it's a really endearing movie And suitably SpongeBob Whereas the The following movies I guess you've never seen them at him But I've never
Starting point is 00:35:53 I've been aware of them I haven't seen them The CG thing It looked weird to me And made me upset But what I'm Yeah that was a big Problem I have with them too
Starting point is 00:36:02 It's like Come on keep it Keep it 2D at least There's so many like Old cartoons That look really messed up when you take them into 3D, like Simpsons, I find are that way, and yeah, Spongeworld as well. It's keep it at its heart, will you?
Starting point is 00:36:18 Yeah. I've heard out the names of like the second. Sponge out of water. Yeah, Sponged out of water is one of them. Yeah, I don't know if I saw the third one. Yeah, they're pretty forgettable. They're not like offensively bad or anything. Antonio Banderas is in the second one.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Yeah, it becomes live action at the end. Yeah, yeah. I guess it's like the formula's stretch pretty thin at this point. in terms of the humor and everything. It's mainly the humor. Like the comedy doesn't land as much because that creator isn't there. I think he maybe understood the characters more.
Starting point is 00:36:49 It's good to have like consistent characters. Like I feel like in those first three seasons, SpongeBob and Patrick, they were very consistent on like later on. The show kind of like went off the rails. Is Alex in the same room? No, Ralph and I are in the same room. Alex, we're doing some.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Magic. Yeah, this is magic. Yeah, I'm right next to him. Yep. He's very hungry. He likes his fruit. I dropped a strawberry a second ago. Sorry?
Starting point is 00:37:19 I dropped a strawberry somewhere a second ago. Oh, where is it? I didn't see where it went. I think it... Oh, it's under Ralph's a leg there. Yeah, let me get it. Does that tickle, Ralph? Sorry.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Sorry. If I knock you too hard, you might probably. I don't want to set that in again. I like the comedy in this movie. There's like some risque. I don't know. Kind of. There's a part where Spongebob.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Patrick, they get drunk and like get hung over. That's funny in a kid's movie. Wouldn't be necessarily put in a movie now? Yeah. They like go to a bar. They go to like a tough bike bar. Yeah, and they get fucked up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:01 And then when he's like, yeah. The next day has a go at Mr. Craves. Actually, that would be my favorite scene. is the biker bar. Yeah. Easily. Yeah, that was when I was having the most fun. It was the absurdity of like
Starting point is 00:38:15 all, uh, anyone who does the bubble. I think I actually wrote down the fucking quote about bubble blowing babies. All bubble blowing babies will be beaten senseless by every able-bodied patron in the bar. And I loved that chant. And I loved that it was like an understanding of its own absurdity.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Yeah. I like it when it calls attention to itself in that way. There's many ways in which SpongeBob remains absurdist, but doesn't call as much attention to itself in ways that I kind of wish it would. I don't know. I'm going to sound like the biggest nitpicker ever, but I'm just saying
Starting point is 00:38:50 you know, well, because it's like, so the conflict when they're like, oh, we're invincible and they fall off the cliff, like, ah, they're afraid they're going to die from them falling. And then at the end of the film, they're like, we'll never make it down in time. We'll just
Starting point is 00:39:06 float to the bottom. And it's like, if it called attention to itself in that way, then it would work better for me. But otherwise, it's just like, oh, the conflict needs it to be this and now it's inconsistent. Yeah. The water doesn't exist and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Yeah. I just find it so absurd. I mean, I can't even build any like consistency with the world, really.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Yeah. I just like the humor in the tone of it. Yeah. Yeah. They have beaches and bikini bottoms somehow, even though they're underwater. No, it's just whatever. Or they, like, cry or, like, mop. Yeah, and like, there's, like, a bucket of something, like, liquid.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Or they're, like, pouring. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, characters get, like, basically killed. Like, plankton is, like, scraped along the ground. I love that part. That's one of the funniest moments to me. When it's, like, just...
Starting point is 00:39:59 We've been screaming as well. Like, it's scream. Yeah. Yeah, where it's, like, bordering on, like... Like, this could be in an adult's animated. television show, you know? Yeah. This could be in like drawn together
Starting point is 00:40:11 because of it's like imagery. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If they change the green to red, it would be quite fucking violent. Yeah. Yeah, moments like that. And then obviously the climax of the film where they turn into live action sponge
Starting point is 00:40:27 and starfish and they're just dead. And they don't have eyes. They just have like, I guess the pants or whatever. That was pretty dark. Like, I don't know. watching that when it was like 13 or whatever yeah yeah like that that's there's kind of a disturbing element to that in almost like an uncanny valley sort of way if that's the right words to describe it I don't know yeah because they have to kind of diffuse that that fear
Starting point is 00:40:52 factor they bring in with the water sprinklers bringing everything back to life because if that didn't happen it would be even darker because it's like a graveyard there yeah let's just end it yeah let's just end the movie there bye kids it's a good it's a funny death scene It's like really over the top and ridiculous. You were saying there was like a death's wiki for this movie? Yeah, well, I wound up on like the, it took me all the way to the like SpongeBob Deaths Wiki. Or I guess it's the Deaths Wiki, but within that, the SpongeBob listings. Like going through every episode of the show and which characters are like killed and die.
Starting point is 00:41:28 So there are loads of jokes where like a car, like one of the fish cars drives off a cliff and explodes or whatever. And I guess those are counted as deaths. I can't I didn't know there's like a funeral scene next or like I don't know yeah yeah so yeah
Starting point is 00:41:42 oh wow quite a lot death in Spanish Bob yeah I don't think I think of it I think unless it's unless there's a character's funeral
Starting point is 00:41:51 I don't think you should assume there's a death in a show like that yeah he'd be like how would they have survived but then it's like I don't know they do shit like that all the time
Starting point is 00:41:59 you know every kid's show does shit like that all the time family guy does that all the time and they hype up real deaths that they don't commit to. Oh, Brian, this is the episode where Brian dies. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Have you ever actually watched that episode? It was annoying. Have you ever seen that for the episode? The Brian one? I think so, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It was awful. Yeah, so it's awful.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Well, I think some of the worst I've never seen that. I might have mentioned this. No, I love Seth Bifarlane. Oh, he's the best. Yeah, after a million ways to die in the West and Ted. The best movies. I remember just one thing to say about that stupid Brian episode on Family Guy
Starting point is 00:42:41 Yeah What really clicked in to why it just doesn't work For Family Guy to try to make me care about a character's death Is because I believe in that like same episode They're doing the whole like Yeah, she's worst end of the time idea blah blah blah blah And then in one of the flashbacks it was like Like Peter got like mauled or something
Starting point is 00:43:02 And it was just like oh like So what's the What's the difference between one of your I died, but this was a flashback, and it didn't happen, versus this character is dying now and you're supposed to feel sad. The only difference is the music, and they go, ooh, no, no, it's like, fuck, and it's so funny. It's so cringe. So cringe.
Starting point is 00:43:18 It's so cringe. It's really fucking cringe. So bad. Yeah, like, you dies, and then a squirrel kicks him. He's like, that guy sucked. It's like, okay. And then you're trying to make you cry. This is a serious death now, Peter.
Starting point is 00:43:29 It's one of the real ones. Can't wait for his next movie. What is it? I don't think he's making one now. I have no idea. Ted 3? Maybe Ted 3. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Oh, did they make a Ted 2? Yeah. Damn. We died in the West 2. Damn, they did. Wow. Yeah, they did make Ted 2. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:48 No. They should make Ted X, and then Madavi Sundar can go on it. But I'm, um, do we have much more to say about, uh... Yeah, what is, uh... SpongeBob? I mean, it's not, like, deep or anything. There's not too much to really discuss about it. It's the SpongeBob movie, you know?
Starting point is 00:44:05 Yeah. It's just an appropriate SpongeBob feature film. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I will be selling my copy for the same price I bought it, but my signature will be on it. So stay tuned to everybody. I have a lot of nostalgia for SpongeBob.
Starting point is 00:44:24 Yeah, same. That definitely goes a wrong with my enjoyment. I had the video game for this movie, too. Oh, God. Oh, yeah, because that was the big movie time era, wasn't it? Like every movie, like that had a really bad video game normally. Yeah. And like that battle for a bikini bottom game just came out.
Starting point is 00:44:43 So it was like right after, like a few years after. Yeah. It's like. And you just play through the movie. You play through the movie. Yeah. It's the same shit. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:52 It's okay. Yeah. Six out of ten. Okay. And ironically. I'm going to say a three and a half stars. I really like it. It's solid.
Starting point is 00:45:06 It keeps me entertained the whole time. Yeah. It's the SpongeBob movie. You know if you like it or not. If you care about Spongerbub, you like it. It's a nice wrap-up. I don't know. Between like a seven and an eight.
Starting point is 00:45:21 I think we're in a similar place. I really, yeah. I have a lot of nostalgia for it. I'll give it a seven. I'll be with you, Alex. Okay. It's almost an eight. Closer to an eight.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Thanks, people out there for making us watch it. Yeah. Thank you for overtaking. I haven't seen it since... Yeah, well, it was missed because of it. I haven't seen in years, sorry, since I was like a kid. So, yeah. I was going to say, thank you for overtaking the Cornetto trilogy and the poll,
Starting point is 00:45:50 because I didn't want to, A, watch all three of those movies that we've already seen, even though we just talked about the fucking new one he directed, and trying to fit that plus another film into the same episode, so four movies. And then also, during the time while Alex is here, It's like, how much of it do we want to spend indoors? It was already a squeeze just towards these two.
Starting point is 00:46:11 You're in a new city. Yeah, you guys should show out. Yeah, exactly. We've been doing that. We've had a very efficient trip. We've done every, we've done more in this trip than other people do in trips that they take for like three weeks. Alex has been here for like a few days. Yeah, we've been busy days.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Good. This is a trip for not lazy people, goobie goobers only. I'm going to bring this up to sick-hand if you don't want. Do you want a different thing? Yeah, come. Can grab you a different thing. Entertain them while I am gone. I know it will be difficult.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Usually, yeah, so here's a behind the scenes. Usually in the podcast, we all have to pee every like 10 minutes, and so we just edit those out. That's true. Yeah. We can interrupt with chat for a bit. Yes. Oh, maybe you can read.
Starting point is 00:47:06 some of the superchats if you want. Okay. If there's one that, yeah, here we go. So this here. And try not to full screen anything because this computer screen's stupid. This television is, it might goof things up. So yeah, see all. And then let's see.
Starting point is 00:47:23 If you scroll down at the very bottom, you'll see them in order. Okay. And you can. Oh, chill. I have on my phone here. So the first one is a domino's sour, or sore. $2 saying farts, thank you. That was our first super chat.
Starting point is 00:47:41 That was the first super chat. Of all time on sardonicats. Thank you. Domno sour. Farts. Domno, so. Wow. Sore.
Starting point is 00:47:49 You're right. Yeah. Yeah. All cats. Here we got a yeah. We got further jamcom. Watch Dave made a maze. Should I be reading their names as well?
Starting point is 00:48:02 What's the protocol here? Arts. They're publicing. They're commenting publicly, right? Yeah. Okay. Most of them are going to be not real names. If you're concerned, you don't have to, I guess.
Starting point is 00:48:15 But it's not like these are private DMs or anything. Yeah, yeah. They already showed up on the screen. Right. Why am I not in Canada? It was the week of Thanksgiving. So I want to be around family. Yeah, I have family visiting out of town.
Starting point is 00:48:30 And also a lot of COVID stuff made it very inconvenient to travel right now. Yeah, there was some annoying COVID stuff. added a complicated nature to traveling. Yeah. Travels been kind of crazy. I couldn't take being kept up anymore to get out there. Uh-huh. Absolutely, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:48 The original plan we were going to do a trip to Florida, which would be cool. Yeah, which would have been even more COVID. That kind of felt. Yeah, exactly. It's hard for you guys. So, yeah, we kind of canceled that. I'm glad you went to Vancouver, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:59 I would have gone if the COVID thing was a little more relaxed. Yeah, because if I get stuck there and I'm stuck there like during Thanksgiving, I don't want to deal with that. I could go back to Seattle. We were talking, we were talking to take it up boss, but whatever.
Starting point is 00:49:14 I'm here. I don't think it's a big deal. I'm glad you're having a good time. Proto Baggins, with 50 bucks. Alex, please imitate your avatar. That was that. It's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Yeah, that's great. The Last of Us 2 and your name are Masterpieces. That's from that cringe called Eagle Bowls. I actually replayed the last of us two a few weeks ago on PS5 because I played on PS4 the first time so obviously the frame you had a PS5 yeah yeah I got a PS5 something recently you managed you got one yeah yeah I got one second hand because you can't really get them anywhere else but yeah that's okay like the PS5 I mean it I don't really like the last of us 2 that much oh okay which one did you get that you liked
Starting point is 00:50:07 a little more read a few more before going. I'm on this Last of Us 2 one. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece personally. Your name, I would, yeah. Egy Erika says love you want. Or a character choice.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Do you have any of there, Ralph? Yeah, catch your eye. What questions? Or any of these super chats. I mean, that last of us one was good. Oh, Dusty Gazongas has this one. I wonder how long it would be until this multiverse stuff in super-era movies collapses in
Starting point is 00:50:38 itself and everyone's tired of it. It's already, the multiverse stuff is already at its fucking peak with like your free guys, your ready player ones. It's been bothering me for ages, but I don't know. Every time you think it's going to stop, it just seems to keep
Starting point is 00:50:56 like getting worse. This is a Korean soyju, blueberry soju. Ooh. I'm getting Alex to try all of the Asian things he's never had. Yeah. Okay, that's nice. I like blueberry.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Yeah, it says very good. Spirit alcohol beverage. Chum Churum brand. Have you seen an eagle eye, Ralph? Yeah, I've seen that. Michelle LeBuff and Michelle Monaghan. Yeah, that's something we chained. It's so weird. Wait, you watched that recently?
Starting point is 00:51:35 Yeah, we did a commentary recording. here. Yeah, that was I remember there's I remember he gets chased by a drone I think or something like that It's very silly
Starting point is 00:51:45 Yeah, it's ridiculous It's like a GCH online I don't hate the movie I don't hate it It was I remember It being kind of entertaining It's kind of funny Like it's got some really weird moments
Starting point is 00:51:57 Like a guy's eviscerate I like the hacker idea Yeah Yeah So watch dogs Yeah Like Mr Robot Like something like that
Starting point is 00:52:07 Yeah But he's like he's got to jump out the window Like is it Siri talking to him or some AI program? Which one did you start on? Yeah I just scrolled down a bit I just did the multiverse one Yeah that one there from Dusty
Starting point is 00:52:22 There we are My face when I see Alex for the first time Also they're obviously just trying to build hype Okay that was probably in relation to something else Buegelberry did Mr. Epstein Minecraft himself I don't know probably Um, RSM plah asking questions about, uh, Ralph being high, but that's, I can answer that for you.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Alex and I are super high all the time. Okay. Actually, Alex had super weed yesterday. I had some of that Canadian. Yeah. If you look at the Twitch stream we were doing. Canadian Cush. It was, it was like, it was like wax. Yeah, it was from my friend who like, like, needs it to function and I'm like wax is like the heaviest thing I told Alex
Starting point is 00:53:15 I'm like just take a baby hit like this will get you fucked up yeah yeah I shouldn't have listened well I should have listened to you but I shouldn't have listened to him yeah Alex
Starting point is 00:53:26 my friend poisoned him with super weed I've got funny I'm just sitting here drinking water yeah drinking a nice glass of water Alex how are you enjoying Canada yeah it's awesome yeah I'm loving it
Starting point is 00:53:37 That was from my own opinion. Zekhtra. If you could record a commentary track with anyone alive or dead, what would you watch and who would you watch it with? I would fucking record a commentary track with M. Knight Sharmulon on After Earth. One after the Earth one would be good. I'd like to hear him try and justify his avatar maybe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:03 That would be good. Yeah, I wonder if there's a commentary on that Blu-ray, you think? Yeah. Probably not. Why would he do that? It depends if it's like a Lion King situation where they record it before everyone's seen the movie. What about you, Ralph?
Starting point is 00:54:14 Do you have an answer for that? You can do a commentary with anyone or it has to be a director? Anyone? Yeah, it'd be cool to do like, you watch like a period piece, right, or a biopic about like a medieval, like king or something. Like that guy. It's like, oh, what do you think of this? Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:32 What do you think of this movie about you? The new Alanis Morseysmort's documentary got denounced. by Alanis Morse. Jesus Christ. Watch Jesus Christ. You can watch like a movie with him. Like Passion of the Christ. Yeah, what do you think of Mr. Gibson here?
Starting point is 00:54:50 Edward. Something like that. Cornwood says, Woo. Back at you. School archive modified. Andrew Garfield will be played by Chris Pratt. That is true.
Starting point is 00:54:59 The Legend of the Gruse. Love you, boys, heart. Thank you. We love you too. Tash, this isn't a question. I just wanted to say that. I love all of you. in your respective content and Sardonicast Heart.
Starting point is 00:55:09 Thank you so much, Tash. Mark Coutiques. Hey, what's up, guys? I'm wondering if you could write a film with one director. Who would you choose? To collaborate and write a film with a director? Like, fuck. I mean, Charlie Kaufman,
Starting point is 00:55:23 but it would more or less just me be sprinkling in other ideas and seeing if he could Kaufmanize them. I'm like, make a Charlie Kaufman script about a furry convention. I can be the consultant to make sure that it's like accurate. You know? And we could make something out of that. That would be interesting.
Starting point is 00:55:47 Yeah. I can picture it. Yeah. I don't know. Write a film with one director. You know what I don't know. Tell me why so. Derek Savage.
Starting point is 00:55:58 Would you? That seems like a bad idea. Your brain? If he just didn't know who I was, you know, I could probably get something done. Bill Breen. He would hear your British voice and get immediately enraged. Oh, yeah. Yeah, having a British accent here is interesting.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Everyone thinks I say in it all the time. That's the main one I've been saying. I didn't say that once. No, no, not you necessarily, but everyone else has been saying in it a lot. As if... Yeah. Everyone here is really racist against Alex. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:56:32 Or maybe I just have shitty friends. You know, I think you would get, I think people would be less racist against you if you just told your fucking queen to get off our $20 bill, okay? Yeah, I'm with you. I think they would, I think they would calm things down. If you, just can you face time the queen later? It is weird. Go, Elizabeth, please. Get off the Canadian money.
Starting point is 00:56:57 We don't belong there. What about you, Ralph? Do you have one? An answer for that. What's the question? Sorry, I'm looking at it. Would you, if you could write a film with. A film with any director or whoever.
Starting point is 00:57:09 Any director? I don't know. One of the great guys like Kubrick. I know he's dead. Probably Kubrick. Write a movie with him. Yeah, I think he wrote. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:20 Sometimes. I think so. I mean, they're all like passionate ideas. Yeah. I think he like, they were writing that at the same time as the book. Hmm. So. All right, we'll do a few more and then we'll go back to other shit.
Starting point is 00:57:39 Because there's a lot of these. We're just trying to get a couple of them out of the way. Transmission, Rory. If you could bring back one deceased actor or director to do one last film, who would it be in why? Fucking Kubrick. Thanks for getting that in my head, Ralph, because, yeah, fuck. He never stopped being very talented and interesting and great, you know. Sure.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Yeah, that Napoleon movie in the works. Yeah. That Napoleon movie in the works for like years and never made it. But there's all these notes. He had a lot more to offer still. I think there's an exhibit or something. How did he die again? They were showing all his notes.
Starting point is 00:58:16 Oh yeah, CIA. Sorry, I forgot. Yeah, yeah, that's right. The Illuminati killed him. Yeah. Because he forgot to tell people that there were Martians on the moon. That lived on Mars and the moon. And also in the Shining,
Starting point is 00:58:32 then the boy goes into the room and it's the room no short for number but you can only create two words using those letters and those are moon and room so that means the moon landing happened but not the way that the government said it did and the moon is exactly 237 miles away from the earth yes I've made
Starting point is 00:59:02 the church journey I know I've measured it documentary I was counting yeah top one most bad documentaries I have an actor I bring back oh yeah for one yeah yeah yeah really fucked up that one of the great talents out there in terms of yeah performance yeah I guess I just say actor or director maybe not to direct I mean yeah he made one movie called jack goes boating and it was bad so okay as a lead in a movie that maybe then her performance yeah
Starting point is 00:59:33 hype for licorice pizza I guess Phillips son yeah I hear it's good yeah I hear it's good too I hear it's one of the great reviews
Starting point is 00:59:40 yeah yeah so it's not quite like the master which I also love but it won't be like that yeah the movie that offends
Starting point is 00:59:48 all the Scientologists or something even though they don't say the word yeah well don't they get offended no even though it's not really yeah
Starting point is 00:59:55 whatever it's like that Garfield meme where he's like hmm I wonder who that's for Yeah, yeah. As far as Kubrick, he just died natural causes. Oh, yeah, I've seen too.
Starting point is 01:00:05 That's what they say. All right. If you could, I'm just kidding. Sorry, I, sometimes I have to say the word satire after, so nobody thinks that I'm being serious. I just say it after everything, and I trowed myself in a layer of irony so that no one knows what I really mean at any given moment, and I can get away with anything. Okay.
Starting point is 01:00:23 That was a joke, what I just said. See? Oh, my God, it always works. Satire. if you could change your opinion of any movie why would it be last night in Soho and why would you give it an eight or a nine yep some people love it I don't care
Starting point is 01:00:36 didn't connect with us and we thoroughly explained ourselves so if you're not happy with that just be happy with the fact that you love it yeah you don't need don't need other people to enjoy something if you really enjoy it you don't need to validate your opinion
Starting point is 01:00:53 with what we're saying if you love it then that's a good thing you continue living you don't need anyone you don't need anyone yeah uh i'm not pronouncing this name mathe ss something i don't know uh donating in some currency i've never heard of donating in feet um i don't know is that a mean h uf yeah i don't know what kind of is that's a currency i guess yeah like usd and then it says f t 2000 taking the opportunity
Starting point is 01:01:30 how much I love you guys and enjoy this podcast one of the highlights of my weeks my question will either Jenny Nicholson or Chris Stuckman ever come back as guests yeah why not people love those episodes too
Starting point is 01:01:42 yeah Jenny got a lot of views on that episode yeah she was a lot of fun she was really fun let's have her back yeah yeah yes she was
Starting point is 01:01:49 all right let's do one more and then we'll go back to talking about movies or some I guess these are all questions about movies probably Cam Peroni What do you guys think about the upcoming Greta Gerwig directed Barbie movie
Starting point is 01:02:03 co-written by Noah Bomback starring Margot, Robbie and Ryan Gosling? What do I think about a movie that's not out yet? I don't fucking know, it's not out yet. Sorry. What do you think of it? It sounds amazing, interesting names though, for the project,
Starting point is 01:02:17 do you think? Yeah. Could be something? Yeah. It's not like an immediate write-off like this Mario movie movie or, you know? You could do something
Starting point is 01:02:26 with the Bobby thing and the... I'm sorry, but Keegan Michael Key, I will watch anything. So when he plays Toad from the Mario, I'm going to clap. Seth Rogen, Donkey Kong. Yeah. I was actually having a moment
Starting point is 01:02:44 watching Spencer. Did you wind up seeing that yet? I haven't seen that yet. Oh, it's great. I mean, oops, spoilers. Anyway, I was having a moment just like recognizing how many movies are just this big
Starting point is 01:03:00 fan culture event and also recognizing that Kristen Stewart was once a part of the Twilight franchise and all that and I was just thinking like when Kristen Stewart shows up in this movie I'm gonna clap and just thinking of like the juxtaposition of like a movie like Spencer just wait for her to get on the screen
Starting point is 01:03:18 like could you just imagine that crowd going woo! Like she's here Bella! Yeah. It's a very different culture for movies now. Isn't that weird? This whole fan thing didn't exist until at least the 80s, right? Yeah, because nerd
Starting point is 01:03:34 culture really exploded with all this Marvel shit and like Star Wars coming back. Not in this way at least. No, no. Yeah, it was way different. It's like a bit much now. These like huge shops everywhere full of these pop vials of like every character you can imagine.
Starting point is 01:03:50 Yeah, it's very cool. Do you own any pop vinals? I have a couple that have been sent to like my PO box. Yeah, I own one because someone gave me one too. What sort of? Garis. Go pops or whatever. Yeah, that's cute.
Starting point is 01:04:04 Otherwise, I would never buy one. Mm-hmm. How soon do we want to get into possession? Do we just want to shoot the shit, answer more questions? Are we ready for possession? Should we do that now? I'm ready to talk about possession, but I wasn't ready for possession, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, I do know what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:04:22 You're never ready for that movie. Yeah. So I guess the first thing we should try to communicate is this was a film that got voted by our audience. How familiar were any of us with this film beforehand? Because maybe I had heard of it before. I actually, no, yeah, when I was watching the movie, I realized that I had watched, without spoiling it, we'll get into spoilers later. I had watched the, I guess, the subway hallway scene on YouTube years back. And I thought that that looked interesting.
Starting point is 01:04:53 And that's probably why it was on my watch list or something. But other than that, I was not aware of anything about this film. And it seemed to be, I mean, it won something that our audience really wanted us to cover. So were you aware of this movie at all? Yeah, it was already in my watch list. I'd heard of it. I'd seen that poster. It caught my eye.
Starting point is 01:05:13 But I didn't know that much about it. I think I'd seen clips like that always seen as quite famous in the subway. But aside from that, no, I didn't really know what to expect what kind of genre even, because it's listed on NDB as a drama. a horror, but apparently there's some debate as to what it's true genre really is. It's very unique in that sense. What about you,
Starting point is 01:05:33 Ruff? Do you heard of it? I see the horror. No, I'd seen it before a couple years ago. That's it. Just once. Yeah, yeah. And yeah, it was like, yeah, that was great. It was disturbing. Yeah, the horror parts are disturbing, anyway. What'd you think of it?
Starting point is 01:05:49 I thought it was amazing. I thought it was awesome. Yeah. I really loved it. Yeah. Yeah. Fairly abstract. Yeah. It's one of those films that just teeters on the edge.
Starting point is 01:06:03 No, I wouldn't even say teeters on the edge. It had passed my threshold for, I guess, my expectations of whether or not the film was being genuine. Because there's movies that try to be abstract that just don't hold as much there. But when I'm watching this film in particular, it is being abstract. It is being confusing. But never at any moment did I feel it wasn't genuine. It was always like, wow, this film really has something to say. And although I didn't do the whole, because I kind of wanted to hear our own interpretations first,
Starting point is 01:06:39 so I didn't do the whole, let's find out every meaning to this sort of thing. I didn't do that, but I'm very excited to. And it's just one of those films where it's like, yeah, it's so clear that this. the director, the writer, they want to say something. Like they have something that they're expressing here. And it's consistent in how it follows through on it. It's kind of chaotic in the best way possible. And it's about like division.
Starting point is 01:07:06 It was made during a divorce, which I think really comes through in the way just the drama, the movie comes together. And these really, this escalating tension and just the conflict between the main characters, you jump right in to this couple who is basically at the end of their relationship. They've got a kid. It's a fucked up situation.
Starting point is 01:07:30 And it kind of slowly devolves and the background layers are revealed to kind of spiral into this really fucked up horror mystery with, I don't know. It's like planted within this setting of Berlin too, especially. It's like a really interesting thing because it's a German director too. Right next to the wall. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. Which, yeah, walls are obviously symbolic. Yeah, clearly that means something.
Starting point is 01:07:56 It's really obviously intentionally placed there as part of the film. As the opening credits were playing, it mentioned something about like creature effects, creature design. And that's something I didn't know was going to be a part of the media. Oh, that's funny. Because I remember there was a moment. Sickab just said, spoilers during something during the credits, spoiled.
Starting point is 01:08:18 I actually was glancing away for a second, so I was not spoiled for that. I don't know if it would have really negatively impacted my experience of the film. I guess I was more surprised seeing it because I wasn't expecting like it. Yeah, I had no idea. I was watching it as kind of like a drama sort of thing. Yeah, I didn't really know what it meant or what to expect. Yeah, you shouldn't put that in the open credits. Yeah, weird choice.
Starting point is 01:08:44 But the execution on that stuff is really, really creepy. It's quite obscured. It was apparently It's the guy who did Like a lot of the alien effects And I think that comes through It really shows like it's really Yeah
Starting point is 01:08:56 Detailed like gross fucked up It reminded the Sorry No it's just really fucked up imagery It's all You know very sexual in nature And other division Conflict and divorces and whatnot
Starting point is 01:09:09 It reminded me of like Cronenberg Or carpenter You know Just like Yeah And this whole like Doppelganger thing as well.
Starting point is 01:09:18 Yeah. Yeah, it was making me think of a little bit, like, an enemy from the Dendipilner. It's... Yeah, it's like, yeah. Something like that. Enemy feels inspired by it. There's like a little bit of naked lunch in there almost kind of. Yeah, yeah, with the, like, prosthetics and everything.
Starting point is 01:09:35 Yeah. Yeah, and it all looked great. It never looked cheap. It looked fantastic. And I'm just like, man, I'm watching the movie. And just during those scenes where they're used for, like, pretty basic purposes. in terms of what they're doing with the story and what it means. What I'm saying is they're not designing a creature that's chasing them around the whole movie or anything like that.
Starting point is 01:09:57 It's not going to be used in the traditional creature prosthetic, animatronic sort of way. But watching the film, I'm just like, man, it's not just a nostalgia for that kind of thing. Because that's from before I was born anyway. But it's just like I wish that we saw more of it because it looks so much fucking better than just. just CG nonsense. And it's, like, there are talented people in the industry that can still do this. Yeah. It's not like, it's not like human beings aren't capable of this anymore.
Starting point is 01:10:28 It's just this industry decision to just shift another direction in a way that's just so much worse. And it makes me sad to remember that, like, oh, here's an option for how these things can be done. And here's how great it looks. And I just, it's depressing. That stuff especially looks like. It's so sad. Fuck. It's said.
Starting point is 01:10:48 I wish I could see those things. Do you know about the whole like video Nasty's angle with this movie? I don't know what that is. Video Nasty's kind of like a thing in the UK. It's quite a UK phrase, I suppose. With films in the 70s, 80s, there's like a big list of them, like banned films. A lot of them horror movies, like Evil Dead was like banned for a while. And this was one of them.
Starting point is 01:11:12 Yeah, it's, it was banned. Like, you got to remember. like the content for its like extreme nature like you got to remember the context of when it came out yeah i guess like this was considered quite extreme really that's that's so weird like this is the kind of stuff that was banned back it's energy is extreme yeah yeah i don't know if any it's not like particularly uh like explicit and i guess yeah this is really early 80s too 81 basically the 70s yeah yeah yeah because i'd always heard about the video nasties like i remember my mom telling me about like sneaking around to see the video nasties like your cannibal holocaust and shit like that
Starting point is 01:11:50 all these banned films and yeah i just think it's interesting because we're so like disensitized in terms of like what films are banned nowadays like we just used to all of this at this point depends what country you live in sometimes a gay kiss will do it and that true yeah um yeah and even even when looking at those like lists of banned films even from like the 80s and whatever 90s even um do you see some trends where it's like certain countries were a lot more restrictive than others it's like yeah it seems like the uk band a lot like they yeah and like monty python movies and stuff like that from yeah life of brian i think life of brian that one made fun of christians yeah how do yeah this is um i'm excited to
Starting point is 01:12:42 experience this movie many more times yeah well ralph if you've seen it twice did you Yeah, more at the second, if you've seen it before and watched it. It's just disturbing. Not really. Yeah, well, whatever you guys picked up on, yeah. It's about divorce,
Starting point is 01:12:59 basically. About like a relationship, falling apart. Yeah, and then in the middle of it, there's just a creature. It is like a supernatural element, but very kind of, not barely in the movie,
Starting point is 01:13:11 it's very interspersed. It's sparingly used. Yeah. I think. In a way that I liked, when they made it unique, I think. I thought it was mostly drama, yeah. There's definitely thematic angles that are at play,
Starting point is 01:13:29 and it's trying to communicate. It's using larger and more extreme imagery to try and say that that's analogous to things that we might not use that. larger extreme imagery for. So something as small and as common as, you know, a breakup between two people, you know, they even have a child. And that is horrifying. And there are, you know, monstrosities within that in how people treat each other and how the situation is. But that's something that, like, a lot of everyday people go through. Like, you know, like millions, billions,
Starting point is 01:14:11 maybe of people, like, I don't know how the statistics, but like, there are, hundreds of millions of people on the planet who are going through like divorces of people that they thought they loved that they'd you know regret because they settled for someone and uh they found someone new and just like the film opening up with such drama that you'd expect at the end of the film and she's like if i had known he existed on this planet i wouldn't have had bob with you it's like holy shit like that's such a gut punch and we've barely even like discovered anything yet um but yeah in terms of like
Starting point is 01:14:46 the thematic angles for this film. I thought it was pretty clear that the title, possession, although if it's, you know, I didn't see a trailer, but if it's being advertised as like kind of like a horror thriller, like, we automatically assume in our minds, possession means like,
Starting point is 01:15:02 oh, possession. We're under possession from like an evil spirit or entity, which might be kind of what they're getting at in a symbolic way, because these emotions can possess people to be upset with each other. But also, think about possession in the sense where the main conflict at the beginning of the movie
Starting point is 01:15:18 from Sam Neal's character is that he is losing control of someone that he needs in his life or that he thinks he needs in his life and he's literally trying to possess her it's about him feeling entitled whether justified or not
Starting point is 01:15:35 you know you can make that argument because they're married or whatever but he has an entitlement of feeling like he needs to take possession over her there's other lines in the film I wrote down one that kind of really hammer in this theme. Yeah, when we meet the other man that she's interested in, his philosophy, and he makes this very clear with like a really direct line at the beginning, it harmed everyone that she didn't inform you, but I will always accept Anna's ways as I feel no one has a right to impose anything
Starting point is 01:16:04 on anyone. So if these characters are going to be like opposites in that philosophy, she's moving to him because he allows her to have some sort of agency and freedom. She doesn't want to be possessed by him and then yeah I'll I have more to say but I'll let you later in the movie where she breaks the fourth wall yeah exactly as you say I for me which feeds into the same
Starting point is 01:16:27 idea yeah possession has a talk about people possessing each other as yeah yeah it's I'll be watching this movie more times I absolutely loved it yeah there's a lot to interpret this is definitely something that like appeals to me in that sense because I'm
Starting point is 01:16:48 you know relating my own interpretations and experiences onto i guess connecting the dots of what is being communicated in this film and even after only watching it once even after you know i don't have to have the full jigsaw puzzle if we want to call it that i don't need to have that all there to understand the thematic ideas that are being communicated here because they're so strong yeah i know you probably wouldn't agree with this but i've sure i kind of liken it to my experience with the racerhead in that way where it's it's kind of an emotion of feeling that they're managing to get across really efficiently with the storytelling even if you can't necessarily pick it apart with you know your more traditional structure it's quite abstract as I was saying just like
Starting point is 01:17:31 that movie yeah yeah it's a good way to put it do we have any I guess spoilers for this movie we'll always spoil a few things possession 1981 if you've just tuned into this live stream word and even I mean also at the same time you can't really spoil the movie it's more of like an experience it's like the acting so strong you know you can't yeah i've read sam niels in this so yeah an underrated actor in my mind like yeah really i haven't seen him do anything like that i should check out more yeah he's he's in that john carpenter maybe he's really good in uh he's from new zealand as well yeah he's yeah he brings something i don't know i like his his kind of paranoid character and he's like a an investigator or something yeah it's um
Starting point is 01:18:16 Yeah. It's pretty dense with that kind of stuff. Yeah, let's think about, this is just clicking in my head right now. Like, let's think about his, like, profession thematically, right? Because, like, he's trying to, he's trying to investigate. He's trying to understand and peel back the layers of why she doesn't want to be with him, right? So, like, he doesn't understand that. And that's his conflict throughout the film is, you know, he's a investigator by profession and then investigator. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:42 Yeah. In the context of the film, regardless of the profession, right? Yeah, just talking about it. It's like, oh, the dots are connecting. Yeah. I will say, just quickly going back to that, Eraserhead point, I was able to interpret this a bit cleaner, maybe than Eraserhead.
Starting point is 01:18:59 Yeah. I don't know. I don't know if it's the same. Sure, it's a little more literal. I think it's a more literal film than. Yeah, exactly, yeah. Yeah, like you're opening on such an obvious, easy to understand conflict with, you know, a divorce and breakup as a kid involved.
Starting point is 01:19:14 And the kid actually did a really good job. to you. I got like creepy scene in the bath, like going under the water and yeah. I found it quite creepy, the atmosphere scary stuff like as it builds towards the end. Did you find the horror elements to like work in terms of that? I don't know if I would even call them horror elements, but they did work. Really? You don't think it was like a performance thing for me, you know. It's like it gets under your skin to me. It's just like for me. It's definitely going for those emotions.
Starting point is 01:19:43 Like yeah, it's not a lazy horror movie. It's not like a jump scare. This is like good horror. This is like what I want. Psychological. Yeah. Yeah. It's very deep and yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:56 Psychological. It's about the emotion. It's about being really disturbing. Like that hallway scene, which we keep talking about. That's a really disturbing scene. It's just a performance. It's just a performance.
Starting point is 01:20:07 Yeah. There's no. And milk. Not a killer chasing or anything. Yeah, and milk. Yeah. A lot of milk. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:14 A lot of milk. A lot of milk. actors saying like, oh, this, it was like such a pleasure to be a part of the movie, but it's like traumatizing. I think that comes through in the, in the tone. Yeah, it's like, probably gets them to go to dark places to even get those performances. Yeah, you have to get to a dark place to capture this kind of misery. There's not a lot of opportunity for an actor in their everyday work to reach those levels of extreme chaos and emotion. Like, even near the, even ignoring like that subway hallway whatever scene
Starting point is 01:20:46 points near the beginning of the movie where it's just like from one scene to the next Sam Neal's like in the fetal position like going like mama and like it looks like he's I mean they find out after it's he's been there for three weeks
Starting point is 01:20:59 and then like it's not even too long after that where you can tell in his performance in the way that that he's interacting with the female lead that he's just lost his fucking mind and from scene to scene the way that he interacts with people,
Starting point is 01:21:16 his level of confidence as a character is so drastic and so obviously intentionally drastically different that it leads me to believe that in some context some of these scenes are just like this idealized version of what he wishes he would do or like something in his head
Starting point is 01:21:34 where especially when he's interacting with the other man where it's like his demeanor's changed where he's like oh I'm I'm weaker and more scared and confused and Sam Neal's like all the stuff sudden confident, knows exactly what to say, and, you know, like how much of this is in his head. It brings out a lot of acting opportunity anyways, where I started going with this, but there's a lot to talk about, so. Yeah, and on the Sam Neal kind of paranoia, the building paranoia.
Starting point is 01:21:59 Really good use of rocking chairs. Oh, such extreme. Yeah. And the angle, too, where it's like he gets right up in the camera lens. Yeah. That was a great shot. some great winners in this movie too we haven't even really talked about the cinematography yeah yeah yeah everything's really well sure yeah there's a ton of scenes yeah the whole movie had a really good like dark look to it even movies now like too digital looking I don't know if that's just the time or yeah that same like laziness now where they would just make it CGI you know I'd be curious to see the remake of this movie now for they shoot it on a digital camera
Starting point is 01:22:43 camera and they use the CGI monster and they toned down the performances way more so that you know like that that milk scene you know like that's so intense like even a movie now they were probably just going yeah tone it down because people might shut the movie off
Starting point is 01:22:59 because it's too disturbing. I can see why it's banned it's just for its content she's got like a bag full of monster energy and then Hideo Kojima directs it. Well if it was product placement then yeah then it wouldn't have been banned then it would have been
Starting point is 01:23:13 Oh yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's safe. Yeah, it's not really well known enough like an evil dead type to get the American remand. It's impossible. Like, I was able to find copies of the Blu-ray, just not ones that would have shown up in time. So it was a difficult one to. Yeah, exactly. Try and find.
Starting point is 01:23:30 It's not a pleasant film necessarily. It's not one you could just like turn on and like watch the background. Yeah, you really need to pay attention. It demands a lot of attention, which is good. And it's very loud. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:41 Yeah. the horror parts the scary parts yeah we could even just get rid of the word demands because I just I felt so engrossed in it it wasn't a conscious effort it was like it was receiving my attention just from
Starting point is 01:23:56 the me being sucked into me wanting to experience it you know there's a lot of movies that demand attention that aren't as engrossing or interesting to continue watching but this was a film where I was consciously like yeah lights off like
Starting point is 01:24:11 no distractions like it's yeah there's fucking enjoying every every moment of it and just so eager to continue and watch it yeah it's unravel and express it's got like a wicked pace it's surprisingly fast how how things move and progress um yeah i love it what did you think of that recurring imagery i was trying to figure out what it meant of i think there's three or four shots in the movie of someone embracing like a back like someone's back that it starts with the kid. It's like a close-up on his back with the hands coming around. It's called back to a couple times with the different people's backs and the hands being...
Starting point is 01:24:51 Very interesting. Yeah, I don't know. I'd have to like put in a time. I'll have to think about that. Yeah, yeah. What do we think about the, like, symbolic implications of, like, the monster? Do we think that the monster, or is there, like, one monster? Is it more than one monster?
Starting point is 01:25:05 Because in some parts, I was thinking, like, the monster is symbolic for the main character and how, you know, he's at. acting towards this situation you know that's kind of what it could mean that it could just represent the whole
Starting point is 01:25:20 yeah with the whole situation like all of it like a growing like yeah something inside of people rage yeah it like feeds off of all that
Starting point is 01:25:32 that because by the end of the movie she's like fucking it pretty much yeah really explicit she literally well we just had sex
Starting point is 01:25:39 yeah yeah yeah it's all the kind of stuff the classic kind of horror themes that I don't know it gets under my skin yeah yeah exactly very John Carpentry yeah with those effects yeah I don't know if I'd recommend it in the same way a John Carverter movie if like I like I like it more than maybe any John Carpenter movie I just feel like it'd be easy to lead someone down the wrong path calling out the like prosthetics and the creatures and stuff if you're going to in expecting like an alien type creature movie.
Starting point is 01:26:14 Yeah, it definitely isn't that. I'll make a fan edit where we get rid of the title credit in the beginning. Yeah, that would have been a good choice. Yeah, I think it is mostly a drama. Yeah, with those monsters like plucked in. And I feel that could have been like, I don't know, I feel like that could have been a distracting choice. But in this movie, it wasn't.
Starting point is 01:26:34 I think it worked perfectly. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Just to have like a drama with like a monster shoved in like, you know, like that. But I thought it worked. It's clear that it was there for symbolic purposes and just emotion and expression and
Starting point is 01:26:50 you know, communicating through art. You know? It doesn't need to narratively be there and chase the characters. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know? Right, it didn't chase the characters. It was a more unique kind of threat. What do you think of the scene towards the end where the doppelganger
Starting point is 01:27:08 confront Samuel and they were in the same room and the jumps off the staircase. Hmm. I don't know if I have anything in my notes for that. It just feels like the conclusion, the wrap-up of the conflict. Yeah. Yeah, it's putting a full stop on it. And then...
Starting point is 01:27:27 I'm just looking at my notes here. Another thing to consider is the... What were those sand effects at the end? It was like dropping bombs, like infinitely, when it cut to black and it was like... Meo! Pooh! it's like is that to it was I suppose it was made during a pretty tumultuous time
Starting point is 01:27:46 in Berlin yeah it could be linked to that yeah I don't know the most about that era of history so I'd have to do more reading on that there's a hell of a lot of context for sure I feel like it wasn't literal I feel like maybe I mean obviously it's in the location
Starting point is 01:28:05 you could make it literal interpretation of it but I mean the location alone is obviously also there for a symbolic purpose anyway, like them being the Berlin War wall. So you could start to, you know, draw comparisons to just like the war between people and their own emotions and themselves in this situation or getting control of a monster inside them. Like, what is, you know, is that a war that they're trying to communicate to the audience?
Starting point is 01:28:37 Like, I don't know. I'm going to have to watch it more times and I'm very excited to. Because this is definitely just one of those things where I can tell that there's just more fun things to peel apart under the surface that I'll be connecting with. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I definitely need to break this down more for sure. Yeah, definitely. So do I. I've seen it twice.
Starting point is 01:28:59 There's still more to figure out. Did you see it before the recommendation or did you see it twice after the recommendation? When did you watch it? I watched the first time a couple of years. ago. I'd seen it before it was recommended, yeah. And then I saw it again for this, yeah. Yeah. I sure it was recommended, yeah. Yeah. I enjoyed it both
Starting point is 01:29:18 times. There's a few lines that I wrote down that are just like... In such a an interpretable film, there's so many of these lines that you almost kind of just like miss where maybe if it were in like a film that's
Starting point is 01:29:36 more literal throughout and there was just one or two lines. like this, they might stand out more, but I wrote down a couple of them that I'd like to just think about more the more times I watch them. One of them is, she cuts us to pieces, Mark, something like that, where it's like she's literal about literally cutting them into pieces, but then obviously it's like, okay, well, this is about how they're feeling and being abandoned or discarded for the next man in a relationship or whatever the implication was there without what might be happening in like real life with what she's doing emotionally, I guess. And then there's a
Starting point is 01:30:10 another moment like I'm the one who is wounded not you right that's one to think about for sure I've seen God's face here the other half is you that's what that's the postcard shot where he spins it around and you can see what was written on the other side of the postcard yeah so it's a very juicy burger yeah there's a lot of juice in that meat it's just falling out my mouth I'm getting meat over everywhere Meat juice. My meat juice animatronic
Starting point is 01:30:43 Has a lot of meat juice in the movie. Yeah, I'm into it. Yeah, fucking, really. Have you seen anything else from this director? No, and that's why I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:30:58 I knew so little about it. So who, what's this director supposed to be? I'm very, I'm familiar. He's German. Sorry for the way I'm about to pronounce
Starting point is 01:31:10 his name, I'm sure. Andredge Zolowski. Mm-hmm. I'll see credited here for Yeah, I was looking at his MDB the other day and I didn't really recognize anything. It seems like one of his higher rated movies of his
Starting point is 01:31:26 filmography. Maybe someone in chat can... Polish? Everyone's yelling he's Polish and chat. Polish, I'm wrong. I was about to say Andres Yeah, yeah. Sorry, yeah, the settings are... You're right. Yeah. Yeah. Polish.
Starting point is 01:31:41 Yeah, it says... You know what? You're not allowed to say Polish and Chad if you don't capitalize it because you just wrote polish. Okay? He's nail polish? What are you? You're stupid.
Starting point is 01:31:49 Sorry. Yeah, there's... I don't know. There's nothing that's screaming out at me here. It seems like on the same level as this. I don't know. Yeah. Maybe this is like a one-hit wonder.
Starting point is 01:31:58 I don't know. Maybe we should... Does anybody in Chad... No. Maybe in our subreddit, somebody can post about this later if you're like an expert on this director or very just love him. What are the other ones to check out?
Starting point is 01:32:09 Or is this just... the one and the other ones aren't worth watching? Like, I don't know. I would love to find that out. Yeah, there's 17. He has a lot of highly rated. Yeah, he has a lot of highly rated movies. At least on Matterbox anyway. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:32:21 The devil is really good. Some people are saying. Possession seems like his, it's kind of his masterpiece, possession. Yeah. It's his magnanimous. It's his masterpiece. Okay.
Starting point is 01:32:34 All his films are hard to find. Someone says in all caps. Oh, Sonics? Oh yeah, Sonics. He directed the fourth Naruto movie. Thank you, Sonics. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:32:48 On the Silver Globe is his second famous film. Oh, he directed the big Chungus scene in Space Jam, too. That was my favorite part. Yeah, he apparently did this one. Yep, I believe that. On the Silver Globe,
Starting point is 01:32:59 a team of astronauts land on an inhabitable planet and form a society. They can create a society. A society that we live in? That's the long. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:12 Yeah. Nine out of ten, I fucking love this movie. It was awesome. I usually don't start that strong on like a first watch, but like... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm slightly lower because there's just... I feel like I've still got a lot to learn about the movie.
Starting point is 01:33:26 A lot to figure out about the movie because it is abstract, as I was saying. But this is a full stuff for me. Yeah. I really enjoyed my time with it. It's constantly entertaining, even if, you know, you still haven't figured out or unpacked everything you're seeing. Yeah, it's good. I'm with you, Alex. It's an eight.
Starting point is 01:33:45 All the times. It might go up to a nine, seeing it a third time, but yeah, it's an eight. The fact... Four out of five. Yeah, four out of five. The fact that there is so much to discover about it still is part of the reason why it's such a high rating for me. I don't know. I don't think I'm going to be like,
Starting point is 01:34:02 I don't like this interpretate. Like, I don't know. I just like, it's... There's so much more... take in here more to find than can ever be found. When the sun rolling high in the sapphire sky, sorry, John Favro. What are you saying? Is John Favre are going to remake this movie? Yes.
Starting point is 01:34:24 It's going to look like a documentary, though. I think it'll turn out pretty cool. Yeah. It'll be CG. It's going to be shot for shot, but it's also going to be like a documentary. And sorry, it's going to be live action with using CG models. They're going to create a live. action film in C.G.
Starting point is 01:34:40 Yeah, imagine the alien creature. Including the human actors. Yeah. It'll be humans, but, you know, CGI. Mo-capped for no reason, even though these actors will cap. It's a new genre.
Starting point is 01:34:54 Yeah. Animation. That's going to be sad. It'll happen. Well, I don't know. I feel like part of the reason, if possession's so difficult to find, then it might just stay pure. You know? If it's so difficult to get a Blu-ray,
Starting point is 01:35:08 It's like, I'm not expecting a 4K. You know, maybe, maybe I don't know, some media company like Severin or fucking, I don't know, like one of those specialty 4K Blu-ray places will pick it up. But who knows? It seems like it would be a nightmare in this current condition. It seems like it's really difficult. Probably some licensing rights issue. Like Aero video might get a hold of it or something, but that would be cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:36 Yeah. Why would they remake this if nobody's buying it, you know? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it has to be a value of IP for them to bother with. It just got a 4K restoration. Yeah, that's not a 4K Blu-ray. So call me when it's UHD and stop falling for the stupid words that people use to try and market you things. Sorry. Yeah, the fucking Hoterrowski collection, they're like 4K collection. It's listed on Amazon. Hoterowski, 4K collection.
Starting point is 01:36:02 Their 4K transfers on a regular Blu-ray. Go fuck yourself. It's not what it is. I don't care It's like I don't know If you're older films Still like The film quality
Starting point is 01:36:17 Still more than 4K It's like oh It came from something higher than blue gray quality It's still a blue ray Get out of here 1080p You're ruining my life After use the restroom
Starting point is 01:36:30 The bog It's a bug now Let me go do that quick Yeah Let me go do that quick Sure And then we can answer more questions Yeah, we'll see if there's any here that we can answer without you.
Starting point is 01:36:40 Yeah, do some. Do some. Do you guys only meet at Adams House every week, or do you switch houses every time we record? Yeah, we've, every week, we all fly. We're contributing more to global warming than the average podcast, but I think it's pretty cool. That was Poet Boy. Joshua Bell. What do you think of the white savior narrative? Is it a big problem?
Starting point is 01:37:06 So how do we fix it? Does that mean a classic movies are now bad because of it to kill a mockingbird? Depends how genuine it is. I don't know. How pandering is it? Does it offer anything else? Yeah. And the context of when it came out to.
Starting point is 01:37:19 Like, regardless of whether or not the blind side is problematic for being a white savior movie, it's just a bad movie. So. What about like, I've seen this criticism for Road to Eldorado before. Oh, yeah. I'd have to rewatch that, though.
Starting point is 01:37:35 It's been a while. Uh-huh. and people saying about Dune a bit, but I think it's supposed to be kind of deconstructing it. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 01:37:44 the 80s and 90s are filled with white characters showing up somewhere and saving the day for the non-white character. I mean, it's like...
Starting point is 01:37:54 It's a product of its time, I guess. Vladimir, happy episode 100, guys. Thanks for the amazing show over the past couple of years. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:38:05 Thor, of you Sards watch any sports? Yeah, not really. Football occasionally. British football. I saw some ice hockey here, which is fun. In the background of some bars. Yeah, a lot of bars playing hockey.
Starting point is 01:38:21 It's fun bringing someone who's just like not from here and then have them point out the things that I forget are not normal everywhere. Yeah. Like, oh yeah, we do. There's hockey on the screens. It's a Canada thing. Owen says they've acquired
Starting point is 01:38:36 Ghost World Criterion La Samurai Wild Strawberries and Blood Simple rank these from worst to best I don't think I've seen any of them
Starting point is 01:38:45 and they're all on my watch list so sorry enchilada Jones since the Criterion collection is now producing 4K Blurys what film would you want on Criterion
Starting point is 01:38:53 to upgrade to release on 4K I want them to release Hodorowski collection on 4K that would be dope Holy Mountain doesn't have a 4K Bluray
Starting point is 01:39:01 did you see they have to recool the Sisson Kane Yeah, just the regular Blu-ray is the problem. But, I don't know. It wouldn't be the first time they've done that. They just send you a replacement disc.
Starting point is 01:39:15 It happened with the first Hanky Chan Blu-ray that they did. The, um, what's it called? Code Unknown. But it seems like this is like a particularly big fuck-up, which is really funny. On Code Unknown, it was like a couple frames dragged in like one part of the movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:33 Citizen Kane, it's like two-thirds of the movie Seems looks like the wrong color. Yeah, that is pretty funny. Their first 4K Blu-ray. Yeah, they're a small company, I guess, maybe. I don't know how it works. Three Evil says, three very handsome boys. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:39:49 Thanks, Three Evil. Mr. Mateo. Hey, hello. What are your guys thoughts on Rob Zombie? Apparently doing a movie based on the old family sitcom The Munsters. Also, your thoughts on the films in his films in general. Thanks, love you, boys. Rob Zombie's fine.
Starting point is 01:40:02 I thought that there was a bit more character to his older House of 1,000 corpses and other one, devil's rejects. I thought those were fine. I never even thought that they were like amazing.
Starting point is 01:40:15 People act as though his new Halloween movies are like the second coming of Christ or something. I'm like, ah, it's just a horror movie. It's fine. Yeah, those aren't very good.
Starting point is 01:40:23 Yeah, there's a Halloween guy. It's people, there's this weird crowd of people where if they just get a slasher movie, they're the most hyped about anything they have her and they pretend it's like a new thing and that these aren't just made every year
Starting point is 01:40:39 yeah it's really weird people love slasher movies yeah there's a crowd he just love it there's a crowd it's like the monsters really yeah for sure yeah I never watched the monsters I think somebody said I looked like one of them at one point I don't know
Starting point is 01:40:54 yeah I'm not a fan of his Halloween movies I haven't seen his early stuff either his uh you know the stuff he's known for House of a Thousand Corpses Yeah. If your last name is zombie, you're going to direct some horror movies, okay? I don't think it's... I don't know if that's his real name or just like his...
Starting point is 01:41:12 He does music. Celebrity. Stage name, yeah. Alex, do you, dar man, says sketch screen. Mm-hmm. I do. Yeah. He's a dar man.
Starting point is 01:41:21 Ralph and Alex, what are you... What's your favorite movie? I know Adams is Holy Mountain weird. Oh, we've answered this on another episode of the podcast, but you can answer it again right now. He's not a favorite before. Yeah. He was like Goodfellas. Yeah, if we're saying favorite.
Starting point is 01:41:33 as Godfather Raging Bowl 2001 yeah if it's favorite not best I guess Big Lubowski's got some and I need to do an episode we need to do an episode
Starting point is 01:41:43 on it at some point whenever you want yeah not quite yet what's the most ever rated classic film that you've seen try to choose from a film
Starting point is 01:41:51 that was made before any of you were born um overrated overrated classic film of all time um would define
Starting point is 01:42:03 classic. Does it need to be critically well received? Yeah. Are we talking about like what comes up when you Google classic film or? Yeah. I don't have an answer for this. Sorry. Yeah, like a Forrest Gump type deal. It's fine, I guess. I don't. Yeah. Yeah. It's just one of those. Worst Gump. Are we going to talk about Eternals? No, next time. Enter the void or climax? Climax, actually. I like the climax. Yeah. Enter the void's like more ambitious, but climax works better. Climax is better, yeah. If you fall in asleep during a portion of a movie,
Starting point is 01:42:37 can you say that you've seen the movie? I don't know. You blink when you watch a movie. There's parts of your memory isn't even real. Your brain is just telling yourself a story to interpret things that may have happened. You don't even know if this is a simulation. So have you seen a movie ever, Owen?
Starting point is 01:42:52 Sorry. Oh, yeah, that's my classic. Just insult people and then say sorry immediately after. It's what I do. Very Canadian. Teenage Robot. Thank you for. Introducing me to some of my favorite movies now you guys just need to discuss the Prince of Egypt
Starting point is 01:43:06 Sending love from Newfoundland We should at some point Owen has been super chatting a lot Alex recommend rat race next episode you coward Well it's not Alex's recommendation next episode It's this episode Yeah, vote, yeah why don't you suggest it on the Reddit Thomas White what do you all think of Danny Boyles the beach
Starting point is 01:43:30 I haven't seen it yet they say despite its flaws I think I think it's an end of the 90s masterpiece best use of setting as a character ever. I'm intrigued by it. That's the DiCaprio one, right? Yeah. Yeah. The one that made the Ewan mad at him. Oh, because he wasn't cast in it.
Starting point is 01:43:45 Yeah, he wanted to be in it. Yeah. It's one of the few movies I haven't seen from his capital. I know. Maybe it's a good recommendation for some point. I feel like we've done quite a few dynable movies. Yeah, and also we just watched M. Knights of the Beach. So we're getting to many beach movies.
Starting point is 01:44:00 Yeah. The audacity. of this beach. Anna, thank you for the donation with no super chat. So you. OIMS, can you say member Big Chungus? It just did. Do you want me to go all out? Remind me at the end.
Starting point is 01:44:20 My voice is going to be dead by the end of this if I don't yell. This is how these things go. By the way, have you heard, Titen is representing France for Oscar nomination for foreign film? What do you think? I think it's... Cool. I think it's a no-brainer, honestly.
Starting point is 01:44:33 It won the palm door. So why not? I don't think the Oscars are going to give it the Oscar. Have you seen Titania, Ralph? Yeah, I thought it was really good. Yeah, Alex hasn't seen it yet, unfortunately. So we can't say anything about it. I've been thinking about it more.
Starting point is 01:44:50 It's getting better in my memory. It's a really good trailer. I didn't even watch the trailer. Yeah. Playing in series, it's really well shot. Cool. Yeah. Julia de Contro.
Starting point is 01:45:00 Goose says the Sandy movie. Yeah, oh, yeah. Does that mean something? Is that Sandy Spice? SpongeBob? Yeah, I guess. Yeah, I recognize. Sandy's barely in that first SpongeBob movie, though.
Starting point is 01:45:12 That's one of my big critiques. True, and she gets mind controlled from a bucket on top of her already existing helmet. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Opinion on Stephen Hillenberg. Who's that again? I forget. The SpongeBob.
Starting point is 01:45:25 Yeah, big respect. Funny guy. Made a great thing. Yeah. Funny guy made a great thing. Thank you, Jojo's crazy channel. Just too good. Hello, just too good.
Starting point is 01:45:34 What is the worst? Movies from your favorite directors. Adam, please do a Hanuket rewatch soon. I will. Lady killers. Mm-hmm. Just my go-to-you-normal. Guest guests.
Starting point is 01:45:46 We don't always take fan suggestions for guests. We might. But we'll see. Spencer, you guys suck. Love you all. Thank you. Oh, and again. Sweet Victory or Ocean Man.
Starting point is 01:46:01 What's Sweet Victory? They're both SpongeBob. songs. This is a SpongeBob song. It's during the bubble ball. Of course. And then there's Ocean. Yeah, yeah. Maybe Ocean Man. Ocean. That's the end of the movie.
Starting point is 01:46:15 Ocean Man. Yeah, I'll say Ocean Man. Yeah, I like that song, actually. I like that song. Yeah, that was a good song. Ocean Man. Can you reveal some extra special guests you have planned? I don't like to do that because then if it like
Starting point is 01:46:28 falls through, then we've hyped people up for nothing. We already we're already taking a big risk by announcing it at the end of the previous episode before we've recorded the next one. As soon as that goes wrong the first time, we'll stop doing that. But we've been very lucky that our guests
Starting point is 01:46:45 haven't fliked out at the last minute. Yeah, they've been really good. Yeah. Oh, and again, I feel like the movie could have utilized Squidward more. He was always a crucial character for the show and would have liked him to be one of the main character along with Bob and Pat.
Starting point is 01:46:57 Yeah, they were also throwing a lot in the movie, though. How much do we want to, like, pat it, you know? I'm happy with the Squidward content in that first movie. Yeah. I think it's just right. Just recognizing that the characters are there. Yeah. Thank you double for the whatever currency that was.
Starting point is 01:47:12 Random guy. Are you not a goofy goober? Adam, I am not. I'm not a baby. I'm a man. I can grow a mustache. Carter Lovejoy. Movies you guys should talk about.
Starting point is 01:47:24 Ferris Bueller's Day Off. My favorite film of all time and a Spy Kids series, one through three, one in childhood. Sure. Yeah, those are some good ones to eventually get to. Oh, and again. donating superchats every 10 seconds it seems. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:47:37 When they were nominated for their own song, Matt St. and Trey showed up to the Oscars high on acid and wearing drag. And that's why they will never be back at the Oscars. Which is really fucking punk rock. And I love that they did it. Yeah, I love they did that. Yeah. They're like, you guys are a joke.
Starting point is 01:47:53 There's footage of it out there too. It's hilarious. Yeah. Hearing them talk about them tripping was really fun. From Dixie Normas. Adam, please find all the anti-Semitic and atheist themes in SpongeBob like you did with Happy Feet. I don't think that I found anti-Semitic themes in Happy Feet.
Starting point is 01:48:09 I found anti-religious. Those are different things, but okay. Yeah, what? Mario versus SpongeBob, thank you for the 50 Mexican. What is that? Is that a way? I think that might, MXN, that might just be pesos. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:48:22 There's like an emote attached to it. Anna Pullen. Can Ralph talk about Goodfellas? Yes, he is able to. You want to say? No. 10 out of 10? Okay, no.
Starting point is 01:48:32 Vincent's dot com dude that was literally the question I don't know where you go from there yeah it's great yeah yeah favorite movie whatever
Starting point is 01:48:42 it's great to talk about with like other people really love it or like because I know people like that in the movie it's fun to talk about it with them I think that's why I like it
Starting point is 01:48:51 you know they talk like that like how they do when are you going to review a Werner Herzog or Edward Yang I would love to remind me on my fucking
Starting point is 01:49:01 Twitch stream I might do a Hurtzog one that I haven't seen because there's a big catalog of his that I really need to get to so I can think of him more of anuteur filmmaker and less of a documentary filmmaker and those are like two very different sides of his career and I'm more familiar with the more recent one
Starting point is 01:49:19 and I would love to check out his old one. Edward Yang, we'll check out the Yee-Eass haircut at some point. That was one of the suggestions on the poll. Who knows, we might do another a poll at some point. It doesn't have to be in another 100 episodes from now. I think it worked out well enough.
Starting point is 01:49:37 If we were to add rules on it, like none of us are able to... It has to be films that none of us have rated on Letterbox or IMDB. So either haven't seen or it's been so long that we don't have a rating. Yeah. Because if we could stick to that, I'd be happy, honestly. And yeah, maybe...
Starting point is 01:49:52 That'd be a good role. Maybe not always trilogies as well, a huge collection. We might disqualify trilogies. It depends on the timing, because we usually based the trilogies based on our schedules. Yeah, if we have like extra time in the week or we record an episode early, that's usually when we try to do our trilogy ones. But yeah, people are just, yeah, anyway. Nothing's coming out, yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:12 KJX, Anna. Hey guys, have you heard that Ardman Animations has released a new animated holiday special called Robin Hood coming to Netflix in a couple days? Happy 100th. I have not heard that. I'm not familiar with Ardman animations. What's that? Ardman is Wallace and Gromit. Oh.
Starting point is 01:50:29 Based on Bristol. Yeah. I really like Arbman stuff I think they've got a really good stop motion style I never saw the Caveman one from a couple years ago the Pirates one was the last one I saw nothing compares
Starting point is 01:50:42 to Wallace and Gromit though although I rewatch Chicken Run recently and that movie is really funny Yeah chicken run, chicken run's amazing chicken run is great yeah I think it's awesome You know most of their stuff is pretty solid I really like Or for Christmas
Starting point is 01:50:55 I know that's not like stop motion but I think that's a really good Christmas movie They did a fun show called a creature comforts as well. Yeah, Pirates was good. Oh, yeah. Creature Comfus is fun.
Starting point is 01:51:06 Creature Comforts. But no, I haven't heard about this. Or is that the series? Creature Comfors was like them animating these like random discussions of people. They were like interviewed on the streets and like put stop motion animation animation. So your short film. Yeah, it's like little short episodes.
Starting point is 01:51:21 Yeah, like early. Yeah, that's a really great. Yeah. I think they went to the Oscars. It might have won or got nominated for short. Yeah, I'm just looking up this Robin, bit and it sounds like up my alley. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:51:33 Oh yeah. Yeah, this looks cute. Oh, it fits on Netflix too. There was that really good animated Christmas movie a couple years ago, Klaus. That was good. Yeah, that's right. Realheads for $10. Says, my relative fan of Old Boy remake told me he doesn't watch foreign films
Starting point is 01:51:51 because you can't probably translate without losing intent or meaning. Kind of makes sense that it is a big, that it is a big stretch to me, thoughts. maybe there'll be certain little details you won't be able to pick up on but I mean for the most part just because it's made somewhere else and they're speaking in different language like they're still humans you can still understand the storytelling you know it's not I don't know it's like I would agree with that yeah how much of a disconnect can it be what about this from love it any thoughts on any of the films being hyped for Oscars any that you're looking forward to seeing belfast Spencer King
Starting point is 01:52:27 Richard West Side Story 2 any of those ring out to you? Oh my God. Wow. A lot of them I'm not excited for. I'll see Spencer. Spencer looks good. I never really know how to feel about Oscar season
Starting point is 01:52:42 because, you know, a certain type of movie that often tends to win. It's like a, just a lot of that kind of movie. And there's certain types of movies that get made, like King Richard, like one of those, they feel like, yeah. I just don't give a shit about the Oscars is the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:58 People are very, the people are smarter now they know what award bait movies are yeah they're like yeah they're like okay a lot of these movies are dramas period like biopics yeah yeah you know it's just not interesting I don't know Rishi Sennia like you just sorry you just name those movies like I forgot about most of them immediately yeah yeah exactly I kind of wait until after Oscar season's over to really
Starting point is 01:53:25 pick out the ones that are worth going through but yeah Rishi Samuale I left this one The opening for the James Bond film Spectre had writing on the wall But it was supposed to be Radiohead Spectre
Starting point is 01:53:37 Do you think the original theme Could have made the experience Of the opening better What do you think? Yeah I think it's better than that Definitely would have been better Than writing on the wall
Starting point is 01:53:48 That's not a good one As far as James Bond Opening's concerned I haven't seen the new bombed yet actually My going to the theatre experience has been messed up so hard with the COVID and not traveling and you liked it didn't you
Starting point is 01:54:02 definitely Ralph I'm sorry the James Bond movie yeah yeah the new one does I have a good intro yeah I mean I'm not a fan of a song oh right yeah I don't know
Starting point is 01:54:13 but it's better than the other one I'll give it that I thought the movie was good for the most part yeah okay yeah so I was just distracted by my dog I want to go out yeah he wants to go home 13 so he's got to have to work now love you boys good look at work
Starting point is 01:54:29 what about 1-011 and then a bunch of other ones and zeros with five Australian dollars what is your favorite cartoon show what do you reckon
Starting point is 01:54:40 SpongeBob is up there definitely from that era the first three seasons yeah those first few seasons I'd say three yeah fantastic comedy other animated stuff
Starting point is 01:54:52 I don't watch anime so I don't know Avatar was good Everettel Last Airbender's probably one of the higher-up shows. Still need to watch it. Simpsons is probably the best show up there, like, with Sopranos. She's like best shows, period, like the Simpsons, you know. That's one of the best shows.
Starting point is 01:55:13 We got... We got... We got... ...Aimlytherbomb, hazy, pale ale. Sure. It's... How about American Dad? Good beer.
Starting point is 01:55:27 I like Phillips. This is not a product place. We're talking about we're talking about animated shows. What was the question? Great. It's just animated shows. Great animated shows.
Starting point is 01:55:38 Favorite cartoon show? Oh yeah. Yeah. Like American dad. Nutshack. I mean, Redact. Big Mouse. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:55:44 Nutshack. Yeah, we can't even say it here because they're going to demotize. They're going to get us. Yeah. Like that. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:55:52 All right. ET Go Home 13. Family guy. I've got to go head to work now. Love you, boys. Thank you so much. Crappy posts says, Man, Alex, James, and Jamie look more different than usual.
Starting point is 01:56:03 The chaos energy is through the roof. Yes. And then I got to refresh this whole thing now. There's probably a bunch, but that's where the page was when I opened it before. Damn. Okay. Fuck. Yeah, it's a lot.
Starting point is 01:56:20 I'm sure you miss a lot. I didn't want to read it off and confuse everyone. Yeah? I don't know which questions you want to answer, too. There's some of them that seem good. If you're not sure, you, I don't know, text me and then... Yeah. And then just tell me to look at the text.
Starting point is 01:56:37 There's apparently a League of Legends show called Arcane. People are asking about it. They're saying it's the best video game adaptation that they've ever seen. Really? Well, that's what they're saying. As in this person that commented. That means this is an individual person that's saying this. So YouTube commenters, you know...
Starting point is 01:56:55 Kentucky. I'm sure. I'm sure it's good. I mean, I've heard good things about it I don't really know anything about League of Legends I wouldn't even imagine that you could make a story out of League of Legends but here we are I would like nothing but good things about that show
Starting point is 01:57:10 yeah people keep comparing it to Spider-Lis really yeah I don't know what exactly means can I know nothing about League of Legends but I feel like it's worth checking out yeah Victor thank you for the five bucks
Starting point is 01:57:24 Pepper Crab what's the most extreme what's the most graphic slash extreme film you've watched graphic and extreme that's a certain implication I guess because Canada Holocaust Get alive
Starting point is 01:57:38 Yeah graphic I would think gory Video nasty Yeah Yeah I guess I think of Cannibal Holocaust because of the actual Like
Starting point is 01:57:49 Sure Graphic stuff in it Depends what you consider to be graphic and extreme Yeah You know You're probably right Older films are very graphic
Starting point is 01:57:57 I'm trying to take newer examples. Green Inferno is one. That's not, you know, I think it's more... It's like that movie. Yeah. I'm saying graphic.
Starting point is 01:58:06 Like, yeah, I don't take it seriously. Like, it's not disturbing. Green Ferno is like, just knock off Cannibal Holocaust. Yeah. Sure. Like,
Starting point is 01:58:16 even dead of life is extremely graphic. Like, uh-huh. And technically extreme, I suppose. But just for more comedic intent. Sure. comedic intent, right?
Starting point is 01:58:28 I'm trying to think graphic, like in a graphic way. This movie possessed her recently. That was pretty graphic and gory. I thought that was well in terms of that stuff. Yeah. Yeah, when, like, people got killed, it was like, ooh, it was really gruesome and, like, disturbing.
Starting point is 01:58:48 Memo 51X says, Alex looks kind of like the chill I-ehe. I don't even know what he would mean I don't even know what that is Okay Internet hating Energy Uh
Starting point is 01:59:06 Derek Hackett Ralph your mystery diners video is one of my favorites ever Enjoy my $5 dollars Goods Thank you
Starting point is 01:59:15 Thanks I appreciate It Pitts Meat Boy says Want to watch Demon Slayer show someday I guess I'll have to At least watch the film
Starting point is 01:59:23 Since it broke those records Yeah Do I need to watch the show to understand the film? Maybe I'll have to watch. It's not even that long of a show, isn't it? It's like a relatively new show. That's what's put me off going on. I think it only started in like 2018 or something.
Starting point is 01:59:39 Oh, maybe. Like there wouldn't be a lot to catch up on. I think it's on Netflix. I could be wrong. Oh, is it? I could be extremely wrong about this. Congrats on the 100th episode says Adrian Robinson. You all introduced me to so many great films.
Starting point is 01:59:55 smiley thank you uh cool cat studios how do you guys feel about the french dispatch titan and spencer we are playing well i'm not we're not doing those this episode we'll wait until all of us have seen all of them these are three i've seen those three we might have all seen the french
Starting point is 02:00:11 dispatch right i didn't get a chance before leaving for canada Alex getting cut again first Mario party yeah i saw it yeah i saw you saw that i thought it was good yeah we'll talk about it later yeah those are all good movies if people are looking for things to watch in theaters.
Starting point is 02:00:28 Have any of you seen Utopia? Yeah, everybody's talking about Utopia now because Pyro made an 8-and-a-half-hour video on it. Yeah. I watched the first episode of it. I put about Utopia before. Yeah, I watched the first episode, the pilot or whatever, a long time ago. And the reason I didn't continue was because the headline at the time was that David Fincher would be adapting an American remake of it. And then apparently they made the American remake without David Fincher.
Starting point is 02:00:55 So I was planning on just continuing, like, oh, this looks interesting. Let's watch the David Fincher one, which is what I would love to have done with the girl with the dragon tattoo, but they stopped that also. So I just watched the first episode of the original. Was it Australian? What was it? I think it's British. British? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:11 Because I'd heard about it. It's been recommended to me before, but it's one of those shows that I think doesn't have a solid conclusion of any kind. It's just like one season. Yeah. And then never went anywhere after. I was like two seasons. I could be completely wrong. I could be wrong.
Starting point is 02:01:25 I haven't seen this video Pyro's made either. There's only one episode. Pyrro just took a long time to explain it. Okay. It's like a 20-minute special. He took eight hours. True right then. Favorite Patab movies and excited for licorice pizza, yes.
Starting point is 02:01:41 My favorite PTA might be there will be blood, but I would have to say that I've only seen Magnolia once and it was a long time ago. And I'm excited to looking, I'm looking forward to seeing that one again. Yeah, I've seen it once too. Sure. Yeah, I'd prefer Ruby Blood out of those two. There will be blood
Starting point is 02:02:00 and Boogie Knights. Maybe Boogie Nights. I have not seen Boogie Nights yet. Boogie Nights. Boogie Wogie Nights. Alex, have you seen Boogie Wogie? No, I haven't seen Boogie. Ralph?
Starting point is 02:02:11 That one's great. That might be his best, I think. The Master, too. I love the Master. The Master 2? I like the Master 3. Master 4. This time it's personal.
Starting point is 02:02:23 The Master resurrection. and the master return. The master x. And then just master. Yeah. Yeah. Then the remake. That's called the master again.
Starting point is 02:02:35 Yeah, yeah. Just confuses the fuck out of everybody. Yeah. And the soft rebuts called the same thing again. The math five tur. Also, shout out to no five cream. What the fuck. Did anybody see my tweet?
Starting point is 02:02:48 It's Scream five. They should have called it five cream. Yeah. Like legit. Unironically Did I say this on the last episode? I'm just so mad about it You've said it before
Starting point is 02:03:01 Yeah I will forever It could call it screams Right They could have done screams And then the S at the end is five They should have They could have done five cream five
Starting point is 02:03:10 They we needed a five cream in there somewhere I'm just so upset My life is rude Um Diego says Ralph Low Key Packing Is that a To imply you have a weapon on you
Starting point is 02:03:22 Is that an American thing Or that you're bulky What does that mean? Yeah I got a weapon on me No I think it means You do every phone You took it across the border
Starting point is 02:03:31 To get to my house That's illegal You shouldn't admit to that Yeah Now I'm gonna have to search you Yeah Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 02:03:39 You're very soft today like a pillow It's so weird Ossian In your Yes yes very After 100 episodes Do you guys have a favorite discussion
Starting point is 02:03:57 Slash moment that comes to mind Love you That's a great question That is a great question That's appropriate to the episode even I've got a soft spot in my heart for Ben and Arthur That's a great one I really like that episode
Starting point is 02:04:09 That is a great one Yeah and it's almost disappointing Because like I love that so much too but it didn't have, like, not a lot of people watched it. It's not like a... Because nobody heard of the movie. But I love talking about those shitty,
Starting point is 02:04:22 um... Yeah, they're hilarious. Barely a movie, movies. You know? We should do more of those. Yeah, well, other ones. Obviously, the, uh, Madagascar one. I like a lot.
Starting point is 02:04:32 That's a classic. Sure, the Madagascar one. Yeah. I really like the trilogy. I like the one we did. Sorry. No, go for it, Ralph. I like the one we did on AI.
Starting point is 02:04:41 The one we did on AI. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That was a good discussion. I really liked that one. That was interesting. Yeah, I learned a lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:04:48 Let me just pull up the... Yeah. I think that's the most I've shifted on a movie, I think. Because it doesn't take that long to scroll through them. Just in case there's one I'm forgetting. Yeah, what else comes to mind? Let's see. Yeah, Lord of the Rings one a lot.
Starting point is 02:05:02 Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man. I like the Trilogies. The Trilogies are something about the trilogy ones. Adagascar. Let's see. Those are some of the best ones, yeah. Yeah, some really old... Godfather.
Starting point is 02:05:13 Old stuff here. and I'm just going to try and remember to separate it from the movie and the discussion because I'm like, oh, I love Fantastic Planet. Yeah. That was a good discussion, though. I liked that one. Fantastic Planet One. Jan Dalman was interesting.
Starting point is 02:05:28 Sorry? Jan Dalman. I love that I tricked you into watching Jean Dilman, and then I wound up loving it even more than the first time anyway. I occasionally think about that maybe. It grows on you. Yeah, it does. Give it like another five years, you'll be like,
Starting point is 02:05:44 like masterpiece. It's one of those. It's really weird. I can't wait to watch it again. Can't wait to watch it again. Her clean... Get to see... Walking into it,
Starting point is 02:05:55 knowing what it was the second time, it just flew by. I was like, I'm ready. When you give yourself that kind of expectation, you're like, I know what this movie is and that it's long.
Starting point is 02:06:06 It's like you don't feel it. If I was anticipating something different, then I would be like, get on to the plot point already. Yeah, yeah. you know, which is like my first experience with it. But yeah, we have, yeah, we have a...
Starting point is 02:06:21 Oh, Southland Tales. That's one of my favorites, too. Yeah, that's a big one. I'm just obsessed with that movie. Yeah. I don't know why I was like giving that movie, the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, you were pretty soft on it from what I remember. You didn't mind it. I mean, I still hate it.
Starting point is 02:06:36 It's a bad movie. I was just like, yeah, I see what he's doing here with the parody of L.A. The movie's garbage Like who cares But you haven't seen the extended cut So you haven't watched the real movie Yeah that's right He was either making extended cut or a sequel
Starting point is 02:06:54 Yeah it was something like that I forgot I liked when we talked about Comics Sorry No no I like when we talked about the OG space jam That was a good recommendation
Starting point is 02:07:03 Thanks Ralph Yeah that was a good one Oh yeah And that was the same episode as Rise of Skywalker So lots of stuff going on there um
Starting point is 02:07:14 yeah we we were able to talk about upstream color before Shane Carruth got canceled so that was cool Amanda was there yeah Lord of the Rings
Starting point is 02:07:26 great one yeah some good ones in there oh yeah Vexel joining for the Enson B episode was very it made that episode very special and a different pace
Starting point is 02:07:38 but very very purposeful, I think. Yeah, it was the right call to have them on for that one. Yeah, all the guests were cool. David F. Sandberg was cool. Just scrolling through here. Just seeing if there's anything interesting that pops out to mind. It was fun saying the word Bahubali and then getting upset about the movie.
Starting point is 02:08:07 Is that the worst recommended movie? I mean, we've had Ben and Arthur. What do you mean by worst? No, but like, Ben and Arthur, there's like lots to say. Sure. Then, yeah, if we're talking about that, then Bahubali is the worst movie that you've won, Alex. Yes. I watched that.
Starting point is 02:08:25 I gave up and watched it in a different speed. There's not many movies where I give up like that. It's the last time I recommend a movie based on just the, name alone. Electric boogaloo. That'll be mine. Apparently that's really funny, says Scott, who has seen it.
Starting point is 02:08:49 Break into. Oh, okay. Apparently, it's a really funny movie, so if you want to recommend that, go for it. That's funny. Oh, yeah. I like the episode where I got to talk about her
Starting point is 02:08:57 and you guys got to talk about Free Guy without me having seen it. That's nice. Just the knowing that I still haven't seen it is just it brings, it brings a lovely feeling
Starting point is 02:09:11 to my soul every day. I lowered my rating for free guy. Oh, did you? It's a one and a half. Oh, it's a one and a half. Now it's three guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:09:21 Fuck. Yeah. Yeah, I saw it again. It went from a five to a three. Mm-hmm. Yeah, all around me. Just surrounded by trial. I didn't even see it again. I was just thinking about it.
Starting point is 02:09:30 I was just like, yeah, it's not good. I know. I guess because they gave Soho two and a half. I'm like, yeah, if Soho's two and a half, then free guys are fucking. Yeah, it's nice. It might be worse. that I three, but, you know.
Starting point is 02:09:41 Ryan Song says, as a Korean American, I wanted to thank you for your continued support of South Korean cinema. Here's my question. Have you heard of succession? Is that the HBO show?
Starting point is 02:09:51 Because I've been trying to find this because I really want to watch it. Yeah. Oh, yeah? I should start it. Is it just a TV series? It's a show, yes, an HBO show. It's a series.
Starting point is 02:09:59 I hear it's good. I think it's written by the in the loop. It might be the next thing not much. Cool. I'll add it to my watch. Yeah, I just, if I had HBO Max, I'd be, I already would have seen it probably. Use a VPN. Router. It's complicated and you have to know someone in the United States that you're sharing an account with.
Starting point is 02:10:16 That's what I'm doing. I would just pay for it, but it's like locked onto a streaming service in the UK. I know. So silly. Yeah, it's such a boring. The things that they make us do to try and give the money, they make it very difficult. Yeah. Enchalada Jones again, now that we've reached number 100, what has been your favorite recommendation from the other hosts? We've had this question before.
Starting point is 02:10:38 maybe it's changed. I think we all have the same answers, though. I've been watching you guys since the beginning. Love you. So as a refresher, I actually remember. Ralph's, at the time this was asked, like, what was it, episode 50 or something? It was probably halfway through. Ralph's was Fantastic Planet. Yours was Holy Mountain, and mine was Barry Lyndon. So I don't know if that's changed. I would have to say Barry Lyndon, probably still, honestly. Yeah, mine's probably still Holly Mountain.
Starting point is 02:11:03 Yeah. I think that's still number one. What about you, Ralph? Yeah, fantastic. Yeah, sure. Fantastic Planet sounds good. Fantastic Planet's one for me as well, where it's... That's definitely grown. I was way harsher on it when we talked about it first. Then over time, I appreciate it way more. Yeah. That's like the best new film I got recommended from this podcast, I mean, Fantastic Planet.
Starting point is 02:11:30 Yeah. Your taste the cherry was good. Oh, fuck, man. There's always good ones. I was the one that recommended that, so that would be a weird one for me to pick. Because if somebody else had recommended taste of cherry, then that might be my answer. Because I really connected with that one for sure. And I love Kubrick too.
Starting point is 02:11:47 Barry Lyndon. Yeah. Barry Lyndon's like my favorite. I'd seen that before. Yeah. I recommended it. Damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:11:55 I love taste of cherry. Elgibulogt says, Hey guys, so happy finally met. What new music or artists are you listening to now? Spelling with three L's? her new album called The Turning Wheel That's been my go-to for this year I've been listening to
Starting point is 02:12:15 Little Mix's latest album Which I really like She was in Venom 2 Has a little cameo Which is unfortunate but the album's really good Go check her out on Spotify Okay I've been listening to a lot of the killers
Starting point is 02:12:29 No album in particular And some death grips Oh which death grips Ralph? Which death grips? I got to know, this says a lot about a person, so. Which ones? It's a hacker or whatever. Hacker?
Starting point is 02:12:47 Oh, is that on the Money Store or what is it? I don't know. I know them by album titles and not song titles a lot of the time. I think it is. Money store is great. Apparently, Melan Man likes that one. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:13:01 Melanoba. Is that too? I don't know. I don't know that. My friend Anthony, I just made that up. I'm just trying to be funny. It doesn't always work. The pretentious bloke.
Starting point is 02:13:17 What are each of your rankings of Charlie Kaufman's films? Synecatee. Let me get the list up. Where do I go from here? Eternal Sunshine. Easy second, actually. I think I like, I'm thinking of ending things more than I like, anomaly said, but they're close.
Starting point is 02:13:35 So I don't really know. You like it more. I might. But I haven't had as much time to grow with it. So I'm confused. I'm unsure. Anomalisa I've revisited the most. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:13:47 I might be the one I connect with most. But Tunnel Sunshine is really fucking good. Yeah, you know, here's a fun tidbit about the podcast, I guess, some insider information. Back when I was starting the podcast, the fact that you made a video about Anomelisa liking it, I was like, oh, of course Alex would work well for the podcast. Because I didn't see every one of your videos, and so I didn't always hear you talk about, like, movies other than cool cat and stuff. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:14:15 But you made a video on Anomelisa, I was like, okay, yeah, this would work out. Yeah, yeah, like throwing in the old recommendation. Yeah. What he directed? He only directed three things. I don't know. They didn't say directed. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:14:28 Just Charlie Coffman. I'd say Anomalisa was my favorite of, like, what he's directed. Mm-hmm. And then synachter key, and then I'm thinking of ending things. But like with what he's written, what he's written? I would consider, like, I think. I think Eternal Sunshine. Eternal Sunshine is amazing.
Starting point is 02:14:47 Yeah, that's the thing. Eternal Sunshine, probably then anomalies or like adaptation. Like one of those. John Malkovich is somewhere in that too. Yeah, John Malkovich is up there for sure. You know, it's hard to rank them, man. Yeah, I know. It's a weird question.
Starting point is 02:15:03 Thank you, that. I'd say generally his best. is like, yeah, like those we said, like Eternal Sunshine. You like Synecatee New York, yeah, Anomelisa. I think it's a masterpiece. I feel like that's one I like to watch with you.
Starting point is 02:15:17 I think that's really great. Oh, yeah? I would love that. Yeah. Let's do that. V. Crot. Yesterday, I met the girl child from the beginning of fateful findings and she can confirm that
Starting point is 02:15:28 Neil Breen is not a petto. He is just very strange. I don't think I ever implied that. You might be confusing this with my Megan is missing review or my cool cat saves the kids review those are directors that I've implied are petto for comedic purposes not completely seriously but it is really weird it is really weird how Michael Goy would say that it's based off of conversations he's had with actual children and half the dialogue is like he came in my mouth and it was like
Starting point is 02:15:54 blah all over my nose and it's not it's coming out my nose sorry we just demonetize this me but you know like that's weird you there's no other way around that That's pretty fucking weird, Michael. It's definitely. I'm trying to be nice here, Michael, Mr. Goy. Yeah, Neil Brain's not a pet. Neil Brein's not a petto. He just keeps the letter from his childhood six-year-old girlfriend for 50 years.
Starting point is 02:16:24 Yep, that's normal. He was jerking off to what he thought she would be like when she's older, not the child version. Fuck. There you go. Isn't it funny how I'm like the most edgy with my jokes here, but it's like nowhere close to the Twitch stream. Like my friends, I have to tone them down.
Starting point is 02:16:46 And I'm like, you can't say that. It's awful. Alex joined on a Twitch stream last night. And we had to get him to stop at some points. It was bad. Walker Jabs. Love this podcast. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Vengeance trilogy,
Starting point is 02:17:04 not just Old Boy, as in Old Boy is a part of the Vengeance trilogy. Saw Lady Vengeance once. I remember enjoying it. It was not the fade to white or whatever version. Or was it? I don't know. It was a long time ago. Never saw Mr. Vengeance.
Starting point is 02:17:18 Old Boy is one of my favorite movies ever. Yeah, I've only seen Old Boy out of most three. I would love to watch all of them. Maybe a trilogy episode or something. We should do that. That would be a great one. That would be a great episode. Also, the Three Colors movies, which I don't think any of us have seen.
Starting point is 02:17:34 No. yeah yeah should do that um Benjamin Livingston favorite and least favorite criterion covers
Starting point is 02:17:43 ooh criterion covers you know what I was actually that citizen Kane one recently that Citizen Kane one recently I didn't like with the K
Starting point is 02:17:52 it's just K that one doesn't stick out to me as being so lazy or offensive it's just a weird choice I guess and maybe because I don't I'm not super attached
Starting point is 02:18:04 to the movie. Maybe that's why I'm not like offended by it or something, but for something like, uh, there's other there's other additions of that movie that are much nicer than, yeah, there's so many, uh, just like owning a K, like why would I know, it is weird. I guess you have to, unless you want the criterion complete collection, then yeah, obviously. Yeah. It's just a weird choice. It's for white supremacist so that they can line three copies of the movie up so that they don't have to buy a new sign. Sure, but I have like an anniversary edition of a citizen cane. It's like the, I'm a much. It's like the, I'm a much. It's a nicer cover than like that.
Starting point is 02:18:36 It was just like a K. Give me fucking break. Yeah, it's for ketamine. Yeah, it could be for anything. I was actually disappointed by the piano teacher criterion cover because it was just the same grainy poster image that was on the DVD. And there's so many criterion covers where, you know, sometimes it works out better. Sometimes it doesn't.
Starting point is 02:18:56 But like I would like to see maybe a little drawing or like a minimalist like rendition. Like those are nice. I like those things and they usually do them pretty well. just use the poster and I was like yeah I like the majority of the criterion covers but I don't own that many physical copies of discs I try to keep it all digital so just to I don't like having stacks yeah I got fat stacks you got fat stacks yeah yeah I understand you have a favorite criterion cover rough track of my of my movies if I like had them all digitally favorite criterion cover I don't know I should look
Starting point is 02:19:30 I haven't right my other room there I'm gonna say probably house soup because I have a shirt of it and it's also the cover that got me to see the film in the first place. Yeah, that's intrigued by it. And that's it, right? I mean, like, it's not a still frame from the movie, but it's based off of an image that appears in the film. Like, the imagery, like, it's on the wall in the movie. So they didn't just, like, you know, screen cap and print. They remade it in a way.
Starting point is 02:19:54 Like, that's an example of something where it's like, it's not too complex, but it embodies the imagery that the movie is already going for, you know? I do like the stalker one a lot. I think I ended that one. Yeah. That's a cool one. Intriguing. Come and see. Let me look quick.
Starting point is 02:20:12 Yeah, but look. Whoa. What happened to Ralph's head? He's headless. He's that Tim Burton movie. Oh, my God. What happened? It's going to be okay, buddy.
Starting point is 02:20:25 It flies down. I need to put it up. Yeah, you can touch him down there. He wouldn't mind. Is that what he said fly? I thought you were going somewhere. else. I can check down there if you...
Starting point is 02:20:37 Oh, Ralph turned into Gary. Hi Gary. Hi, Gary. He was very cold, so he's bundled up. Yeah, you're right then, man? Freezing. It's not used to the Canadian, the harsh climate. I do like the microphone emanating from the couch.
Starting point is 02:21:03 Yeah, this was a great idea. I figured there was only one way to do this. Yeah, yeah, it's correct. It's correct. I got the thinking, you know. Oh, no, they're all so nice. Yeah? Yeah, I got the stalker one because just so you can say it.
Starting point is 02:21:21 Yeah, it is nice. I like it. Yeah, the stalker. The stalker one's cool. Yeah, but do the right thing one. That's probably one of the nicest one. It's just that, but it's like nice box. Yeah, that's probably the nicest one.
Starting point is 02:21:34 Do the right thing. Salaris too. It's kind of cool cover. Yeah. Night of Living Dead has a cool cover. You know, that's like a classic one. Awesome. That's the only reason you don't want it. Because of the cover, right? Because it's like a royalty-free movie, Night of Living Dead.
Starting point is 02:21:52 Someone whose name I'm not going to try to pronounce. Are you guys, Team Wipe or No Flesh? Context pooping. What are you talking about? I don't understand. The options are you either wipe your ass or you just don't and also don't flesh? Yeah, what? Oh, here's a question for you, Alex, actually. Are bidet is common in the UK? Another kind of like a European thing, right?
Starting point is 02:22:13 When I was growing up, my nan used to have one in her bathroom, but it was kind of like a relic. No one ever used it, and she eventually got it, like, removed. Okay. So not commonly. All right. Not like what I hear about, like, what you can experience in Japan in terms of all these, like, water shots with the colors.
Starting point is 02:22:32 You had about this? Oh, is it like a, like a rainstorm? gamer computer bidet? Like, what are you talking about? Yeah, basically. That sounds great. I got to, oh, I'm going on eBay. They have the gayest bidet.
Starting point is 02:22:47 I've heard of those, yeah. That's really funny. It's a big Italian thing. Oh, hello. In the chat, Lord Bung. Hello. Yeah. Touch hands to prove you're actually in the same room.
Starting point is 02:22:58 Okay, we're going to, wait, wait, wait. See? Hit like this. I can't see it. No, don't worry, we got you covered. Yeah, we go. We're holding hands for this episode. The first episode,
Starting point is 02:23:10 where we hold hands. Oh, shit. Don't fall over, Ralph. I know you're very excited and drunk. Oh, shit. I know you're high out of your mind right now. Exactly. My friend keeps poisoning my other friends with super weed.
Starting point is 02:23:25 It's what Alex Jones, super weed. I mean, that's what I called it and that's basically what it is. I don't think I undersold it, right, Alex? You didn't undersell it. He got way too high. I should have listened, yeah. But he just mostly got quiet.
Starting point is 02:23:37 It was really funny. That's funny. XMod, are there any films you've seen that could change to attend on another watch? Possession. Done. Yeah. Yeah, I could easily see that being a ton. Seth Brian, do you, do any of you play D&D?
Starting point is 02:23:56 Do you have any opinions or experiences with it? Played it briefly. If somebody wants to get into it with me for, like, a streaming, monetize it with, like, another creator or something. I'm open to that. I was actually invited to you once, but I was in a, I was too busy and, uh,
Starting point is 02:24:11 it, there was also like a, we were like paying the, the DM an amount that I was like, it was, it was when my network was dying and I wasn't sure if I was actually going to get paid for two months. So I had to,
Starting point is 02:24:23 oh yeah, I've had to happen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's fucked up. I had to be like, no, I can't right now. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 02:24:30 Have you played D&D, Ralph? Really, I have. I did a campaign in college. I played his My character was Charles Stiles From the mystery diners Yeah I did good role play though I was like really good
Starting point is 02:24:44 I think I wanted to open a restaurant Like that was my arc or something I forgot Yeah I've done it before It's fun I've always been curious about it No I just
Starting point is 02:24:54 Yeah I'd need to be pleased I've only done that one campaign I've never played it again I haven't played it since It's been years You gotta have a good dungeon master Yeah exactly
Starting point is 02:25:02 Yeah right I had a good dungeon master There was a good setup. Yeah. It was like friends. That's what you need to do. Daniel Marcus Film says, I was thinking about taxi driver
Starting point is 02:25:12 and how it could be an interesting as an animated film styled like Spiderverse in Cartoon. What? What movie movies would you think could work? Animated or vice versa. You know what? There's like,
Starting point is 02:25:28 I'm trying to remember the movie that I watched recently that was like this. I think it was, oh yeah. It was a festival movie that came out this past year called Flee. And it was like an animated, like I think they used real documentary interviews and then animated the rest of it. And the guy told his story about, I think he was living in, I forget which Arab country, but he was a gay man living there. And he had to, you know, flee, blah, blah, blah, blah. And they animated the whole thing with, you know, him like in a kitchen with his husband or like, blah, these, you know, sad face.
Starting point is 02:26:03 I found out that blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And all that. And I couldn't get into it. And I wish that it was just not animated. Or maybe I wish that the character design was better. It was really difficult to pinpoint why I couldn't relate to any of it. But there's a lot of animated movies where it's like just the style is so basic. And I don't relate to the characters.
Starting point is 02:26:26 You know? Yeah, I've got an answer for this. I don't know if you've heard of it. Netflix just released this show called Cowboy. B-B-B-B-B. That would be quite good to animate. Yeah, new original concept. Cowboy bloop.
Starting point is 02:26:41 How is that? I've heard nothing but bad things, and I haven't been able to watch stuff while traveling, so... It looks not worth even investigating, in my opinion. That's a very passionate show. A very passionate fan base for that show. Yeah, so... You're playing with fire if you're going to touch properties like that and
Starting point is 02:26:59 fuck it up that bad. Yeah. like people are going to subscribe to Netflix to watch that like what are they thinking people are going to unsubscribe from yeah yeah I don't know I guess death note was a success what would you rate Jurassic Park out a 10 I don't know I haven't seen in a while sorry Jamie I think that's like a four star in my mind yeah I would say at least a seven yeah no lower than a seven yeah from memory rustic ghost hey guys thank you Thanks for making my work shifts more tolerable.
Starting point is 02:27:34 Keep up the great content. Thank you. You welcome. 50 Australian dollars, so like two cents. Actually, the Australian dollar is always pretty in line with a Canadian dollar, so that's actually a good amount. Thank you. Isaiah Williams, what are your favorite genres of music when used I film scores and or soundtrack? I mean, it depends on the movie.
Starting point is 02:27:56 Different movies require, different scenes require different genres, different styles, so there's no... I'll always listen to like a Trent Resner score, even if it's for a movie that's like not good. So I like those kinds of sounds. But yeah, as you say, it depends on the movie. Yeah, after watching... After watching Spencer, I have realized that Johnny Greenwood can apparently do no wrong.
Starting point is 02:28:23 So I'll have to check out more of his scores. That was an awesome score. Yeah. Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. Cool. Mm-hmm. Josh, thanks for the great film recommendations. I've seen so many good movies since following you guys.
Starting point is 02:28:37 No problem. I'm glad you enjoy them. Gory Cinema says, Jimmy Beans. I don't know what that is. Alex found his home in Walmart because they had so many oversized cans of beans. Yeah, I've never seen a kind of beans that big.
Starting point is 02:28:52 Send me the photo. I'll post it. I think I did. I think so. Double check. I didn't send it to some random. That's a big can of beans. Let's see.
Starting point is 02:29:00 Sounds crazy. I'll be posting a beans photo on the, Sardana cast Twitter very shortly. Did I send it? Yes, you did. Cool. Let me save this. Sounds cool.
Starting point is 02:29:10 You don't understand what beans mean to a British person like Alex, okay? Yeah. Do you like baked beans, Ralph? When was the last time you ate beans? Yeah, beans are good. It's the last time I ate beans? Shit, does that count like a burrito? Probably last week.
Starting point is 02:29:26 I'm talking baked beans. I've had beans very recently. Yeah. Never believe. Yeah. On toast? Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 02:29:33 Probably recently. Like, definitely within a few months. Okay. Fair enough. For sure. Got another bean over here. For sure. We have released the beans.
Starting point is 02:29:43 Cool. Go look at the bean. The bean camera. Tadonna cast Twitter. It's all up. The bean photos live. It's about beans now. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:29:51 It's a pretty big can of beans. I like how the framing is similar to the other. Yeah. I was trying to leave back to Vancouver. Alex just stayed in the store and I had to go find him. He was hiding in the beans in the cool. want it with a huge can of beans. He made a fort. It said no girls allowed, only beans. Only beans.
Starting point is 02:30:11 Unless you're a bean girl. Only Mr. Bean. I just love how everyone else in the world reacts to this bean thing. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Yeah. I've never eaten beans on toast for, but I don't know. Yeah, so everyone's got like weird food in their different countries, you know. I'm also a monster that would eat anything, so nothing's weird to me. Yeah. You know? Yeah, sometimes we take it too far.
Starting point is 02:30:38 Like, our version of Papa Johns, I think, our fucked up version had like a full English breakfast pizza. Oh. So it had beans on a, on the pizza, like, I don't know that. Okay. I was pushing it a bit. No cum, though. Not quite.
Starting point is 02:30:53 Okay. Not quite. Maybe they'll do that next year. All right. Just too good. Adam, do you think New Order is a racist film? like many people have said. I'll keep this quick.
Starting point is 02:31:06 I think that the interview he gave, it's not surprising that what he said could be interpreted it as problematic, but the film itself doesn't read that way, and I think most of the people trying to cancel him are doing it based off the interview, which
Starting point is 02:31:21 without having seen the film. I think he worded himself poorly in the interview, Michelle Franco, Mexican director. But I the film itself didn't you know death of the artist
Starting point is 02:31:35 even if he was making a film that it was racist or something I didn't get that out of it so I still thought it was like decent it wasn't even a great movie but I didn't I didn't read it that way is what I'm saying I'm gonna turn off my vibration now
Starting point is 02:31:50 oh it's all the people following the Sardotica's Twitter account because of the bean photo oh hell yeah see people are responding to the beans they're responding to the beans yeah all right We're only posting bean photos from now on.
Starting point is 02:32:04 No more episodes. We're changing the name of the podcast. We're changing what the podcast is about. Just bean muck bangs from now on. Yeah. We just eat beans here. Beancast. Yeah, that's what we're called now, Beancast.
Starting point is 02:32:21 And Ralph the Bean maker. The Bean maker is our logo. A bean everything. I hate beans. Not a bad idea. You're being sex. Thanks for 100 episodes, says Levi. Blake's She's Blakesley.
Starting point is 02:32:37 Of great content. In my dreams, I did imagine Ralph sandwiched in the middle and entirely limp. Well, yeah, that's funny. I'm glad we could make your dreams a reality. I think true. PJ Robinson, you guys are pretty freaking cool. Thanks, PJ. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:32:53 Di Diego. If you could recommend five films for Jake Paul, what would they be? Oh, boy. Jean Diehlma. number one easily that seems like a movie that Jake Paul should watch Titanic, you probably get a lot of symbolism
Starting point is 02:33:07 Titan, I recommend Titan Holy Mountain, so we got three and then hmm Maybe Salo one of those, something like that Maybe What's a real Jake Paul movie that he could watch Put one in there he'd like
Starting point is 02:33:26 You'd really get something out Airplane Ghostmates. Ghostmates, yeah. Jake Paul. Smosh movies. You know, something to, I get the impression that
Starting point is 02:33:40 even though Ghostmates is a film that it seems Jake Paul would make, I don't think he necessarily watches that type of thing. I think they just make them, you know? Yeah. Right. I don't think he watches movies. I think he cares.
Starting point is 02:33:55 No. He's sitting on a fat stack of money. that's what he cares about yeah Netflix death note that's the fifth there we go Adam Winger's finest yeah
Starting point is 02:34:09 oh here's one only shallow shallow reviews can we get a lovely enthusiastic pip-pit poy okay I gotta explain this and we've got to do this correctly okay hip to the whole
Starting point is 02:34:21 there are three of us so we each get one of these words pit pop or poy I guess I'll go first with the pip pop boy Yeah, there you go. One more time, one more time.
Starting point is 02:34:30 Pip. Pop. Poi. Okay, there you go. We got it. Okay. It's not enthusiastic enough, though, in my opinion. Well, you, I was doing it off of your energy.
Starting point is 02:34:40 Yeah, okay, okay. Boy! No way, you got to do it in order, right? Pip. Pop! Good time it, Ralph. Where'd you go? Where's your poise?
Starting point is 02:34:50 I didn't hear Adam. I didn't hear Adam. Oh, really? Okay. Discord's weird something. No, I didn't hear it. I speak a longer pop. I heard Pip.
Starting point is 02:34:57 Sometimes it cuts off, like, like. shorter noises because it thinks that they're not supposed to be there. All right, let's try this again. Yeah, I just have a swing. Squidberg. Good. Ready? Can you hear me?
Starting point is 02:35:07 We'll get this. You ready? PIP. Yeah. Pop. Oh, boy. I like that.
Starting point is 02:35:15 I like that. That was good. That was a little bit of an ear rape. That was the one I'm happy now. Oh, loud? Yeah. No, just, it was allowed. Just Discord did something.
Starting point is 02:35:23 Yeah. Yeah, it was a funny. Good question. All right. Um, cool. Cool. Magpie. I was so excited when I heard that you three were starting a podcast together. And today I'm just as excited. Congrats on 100. Love you guys. Thank you so much. Cheers. Jake C. Yeah. Thanks.
Starting point is 02:35:39 You are forced to write and direct Avengers 5. You have complete creative control, no limitations, and a $200 million budget. What's your pitch? Well, we're going to use $200 million, and I'm going to take out a loan of another $100 million so we can buy the rights to the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise, which is currently on sale for 300 million and we're going to make sure that they are the characters featured in the Avengers, they're added to the script. And yeah, that's the whole budget
Starting point is 02:36:06 is spending it on Alvin. Mine would be like a $200 million Howard the Duck horror movie. Yeah, yeah, that fits into the MCU still, you know. Ralph? I don't know. Okay. I don't know. That's fine. We don't want to spend too long on each of these anyway because there's so many.
Starting point is 02:36:24 What musician would you like to make a film score? I don't know, Johnny Greenwood, ones that make film scores all right? I guess you're asking for maybe ones that haven't made one. Like, depends you like, who are musicians. Fucking me,
Starting point is 02:36:36 I don't know. Yeah. I would love to make a film score. I've got ideas. I could make like a good piano score, I think, depending on the context of the film and what they're going for. You can make a score for me one day. Done.
Starting point is 02:36:49 Let's do it. If you like piano. Yeah. There's, there's movies that have worked well with piano. I like piano. Piano scores. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:36:59 Yeah. Mary Wall, where do you get your ideas from? My brain. Yeah, normally my brain. That's exactly what I was going to say. I don't know. That's where else? All right, thank you.
Starting point is 02:37:13 Xendo 2000. Thank you so much for making this podcast. From all over. Well, thank you so much for supporting the podcast because it wouldn't really be very cool if there were zero people that watched or supported or listened. We would have quit before episode 100. That would be silly.
Starting point is 02:37:30 this'll this'll be a hit one day let's just keep going but a butt says frittata thank you for the Xavier reference lazy bones ink love you guys love your videos guys what's your best estimate of when part one of your liking 2019 will
Starting point is 02:37:46 be done at him I'm aiming for part one which is over two hours long to be out this year that is that is my intention um you can go on my Twitch stream and see a bunch of me editing it the past month I'm continuing to do that and hopefully it works out.
Starting point is 02:38:01 No more Mario Party. You're going to fuck your hands up. I'm doing games on Sundays, and every day that's not a Sunday, I'm doing other things for movie review stuff. All right. Lego Star Wars gamer mayhan. Love your guys' show.
Starting point is 02:38:15 Watch episodes multiple times because you guys are so entertaining since you've all been on the official podcast. You should do a crossover episode with everyone. That might be one of those ideas that doesn't work because having like what, seven people talking at the same time? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:38:30 I mean, I've done that once, like a eight-person poker, seven or eight, and it's just chaos. Also, Critical keeps disrespecting my favorite YouTuber Nicacado avocado, so I don't know. I don't know if I want to associate that anymore. Yeah, that's true. Oh. I'm an avocado stand. I should have been wearing my shirt. My favorite shirt that I wore in public and got many compliments on.
Starting point is 02:38:59 Yeah, it's an avocado, nicocato avocado shirt. It's really great. Yeah, it definitely catches the eye. You've got lots of responses. Everybody loved me. I was famous. If Ellen Burstyn finally got to wear the red dress in Requiem for a dream, that's how I felt.
Starting point is 02:39:22 Like, she would have gotten the same thing, you know? They love me, Harry. that's a movie I hope we get to talk about something because I need to rewatch that one Marcha Kaiju 98 why does Ralph look tall here because he's taller than us goes against the lore I don't know what lore are you thinking
Starting point is 02:39:44 you might be you're in the wrong yeah guys that was all that was all fake news they say you're still cool furry Ralph Alex looking fresh and Adam is a beautiful Chad any of you guys getting the new 4K Criterians Uncut Gems Siticus and Kane Mulholland Drive Happy 100 episodes guys well I've ordered Uncut gems and Mulholland Drive
Starting point is 02:40:04 So yes Uncut Jammin Watch it again, it's so good Uncut Jam I was shocked there was no 4K before that point Yeah, well they didn't It was like a well Like it made money
Starting point is 02:40:18 It was like 824's biggest hit That Citizen Kane one Yeah that Citizen Kane one could be good If not for the you know the art on the front. That's bad. Again, it's 4K, so it's a K on the front. Oh, is that why?
Starting point is 02:40:34 I thought it was for K. I'm thinking. Well, yeah, there's a multiple. You can make it multiple ways, right? 4K, cane, right? Put like a little four. I don't know. When I buy it, I'm going to write in a little four.
Starting point is 02:40:50 Well, do you think 8K is going to be like a thing? because like there's no 8k content they're selling the televisions i'm not going to even talk about it until there's 8k content anywhere there's no point even having this conversation well it's like the the ps5 can like do it and stuff oh really yeah yeah in games or where on youtube on the youtube app maybe it has the capacity but i don't think there's any software that can actually run anything there's no content for yeah yeah it's the problem they just want a new way to yeah sell everything again if 4k is already a niche market, which it is.
Starting point is 02:41:26 8K is going to be only accessible to, like, rich people that have, like, a gigantic, like, 100-plus-inch television, you know? Yeah, yeah. You know, I have a projector, so maybe I would be able to notice it because I have projector on a wall sort of thing,
Starting point is 02:41:40 but still not going to... Yeah, like, why would I make that upgrade when there's zero things to watch? Criterion just started doing 4K. Like, all right. Full-K is already behind. No point. um calum's american friend i credit all three of you for my love for movies congrats on 100 and thanks for
Starting point is 02:42:01 everyone getting me through high school you're welcome you did it thank you uh hugo enrique de dolis valencia hola can you guys say viva mexico viva mexico actually i'm going to say Viva Mexico is how I'm going to say it. There we go. I did it. Viva Mexico. Ralph? Viva Mexico.
Starting point is 02:42:26 There we go. Thank you. You go? Yep. Congrats on 100 guys. I'm more of a fan of five guys. But, say, her. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:42:40 Goose, Ralph is Jerry. Alex is George. Adam is Kramer? I don't know. I haven't shouted the N-word in public. Kramer's tainted now I think I'm more of an Elaine I think I'm the girl
Starting point is 02:42:59 Yeah I don't really see it as a Kramer Yeah I don't know if any of us would be Kramerish Yeah Billy Dean Not my lover What are your guys' thoughts on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? I haven't gotten into it
Starting point is 02:43:12 I think the art style looks interesting I've seen the memes Yeah I've seen a few episodes It's um It's humorous I'm into the humor, I'm into the vibe and it apparently gets better as it goes along. Yeah, I'll check it out.
Starting point is 02:43:24 People are recommending it. No idea. Super me as well. Capelliacaten. What's your fave fake movie slash play within a movie? That's fun. That's a good question. Yeah, I'd have to brainstorm.
Starting point is 02:43:41 One that's jumping out to me right now is the Being John Malkovich TV special where there's so many little tidbits about the characters and just such a great way to move time forward in the film. Yeah, that's cool. Are we allowed to say, like, the trailers in Grindhouse, like Edgar Wrights don't, you know? Don't.
Starting point is 02:43:59 Yeah, those are good. Yeah, that fits in those. The trailers. The trailers at the beginning of Tropic Thunder. And then there's just some movies that feel like fake movies, and they're not. Like Jack and Chill, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:44:15 Seems like a fake movie. Yeah, nothing's jumping out on me right now. Uh, thoughts on German. I don't watch Twitch. I just stream on Twitch. Yeah, I'm still learning Twitch. Uh, Mr. Fisher official. Thanks for the dollar.
Starting point is 02:44:29 Uh, also Squeedles was the one that asked the German question. The Slavinator, Spike Lee or Wallyji? Is there a difference? I thought they were... Well, Spike Lee, four Waluigi. Four Waluigi. Yeah, I guess in the Mario, well, it can be the sequel. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:44:43 Well, I mean, Chris Pratt is Mario, so... Yeah. You're right. We need to get spike in there. Kababi. Favorite podcast on the market? Viewer from Norway, who has been watching since 13 and am now 17. Crazy how time flies.
Starting point is 02:45:01 Thank you so much. Thanks. I appreciate it. Syneciki. I don't know. You don't know about what? That we should have fans from Norway? Can you ask about podcasts we listen to?
Starting point is 02:45:15 Oh, no. He said. No, they just said it. It was an exclamation. saying that we are offering their favorite podcast. Oh, okay. I thought they were asking about... But if you want, you can say your favorite podcast.
Starting point is 02:45:26 I don't have one, ours. Yeah, hell yeah. Favorite YouTube channel, your movie sex. Favorite podcasts, Sardong. Favorite podcast, Sardong. Favorite gaming channel, Adam plays. Favorite band and unkindness. Favorite Muckbong channel, me again.
Starting point is 02:45:41 Favorite YouTube channel, Ralph, the Movie Maker. I thought you were rebranded to Ralph the Sussie Baca. You're back in. again already last episode. That's right. I got her made consistent in the lore of Sardonic test. It's so convincing this whole keep catching it. It's great. I think this
Starting point is 02:46:01 worked out so well. It is great. If you're like glancing at it, you can't even tell. If you're like glancing at a glance, yeah. The gang's all here. You can tell. This is fun. I'm going to keep going through these questions unless there was any other thing.
Starting point is 02:46:22 We didn't really organize this very well. Is there anything else we should include in this? Should we do like a celebratory shot? I'm just trying to throw more alcohol in here for no reason, maybe. I don't know. It's episode 100. Yeah. That loose, you know.
Starting point is 02:46:38 Yeah. Ralph, what are your hard liquors within your vicinity? What do you have available? I'll go check real quick. Okay, sure. I'll go check on my dog, too. He's okay. I might need to give him a walk.
Starting point is 02:46:48 but I'll only be quick. Yeah, not yet. Mm-hmm. I see that one about BoJack, though. Oh, there's a BoJack question? Mm-hmm. Aren't you gonna... Oh, yeah, I hear.
Starting point is 02:47:00 Sardonicast got me through so many days working hard shifts. Thanks to Alex, I watched BoJack Horseman, and thank you guys for 100 episodes. Thank you, Gabrielle Arts. What's your history of BoJack? Because obviously... My history with BoJack is...
Starting point is 02:47:14 I had walked past roommates watching it in a different household as I was making things in the kitchen, and I thought, that's not funny. And then I sat down for bits of it, and I thought, that's not funny. And then I heard from people that love it talking about how
Starting point is 02:47:33 the real reason to watch the show isn't necessarily the humor, but that it's like the kind of depressing, almost synecic, like, you know, getting into like the psychology, of like, oh, I was, I'm a wash-up now in my past and blah, blah, but that all sounds very interesting, but I guess, like, the, what has prevented me from, like, really delving into it has been that the, the comedy is kind of a barrier to get to that. And if you're not, like, in love
Starting point is 02:48:02 with the comedy, then it's difficult to get there. However, however, um, my boyfriend that I've been dating long distance likes BoJack. So I'm giving it another show. shot. I watched episode one with him in VR chat and it went well. I'm enjoying it. Okay. But that's just one episode. Yeah, the first like few episodes of season one are not their best. They're pretty rough. Yeah, I like the first episode. It was it was better to watch with him and have some drinks and just, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:48:36 Be in store and, yeah, maybe my low expectations of it also kind of helped even. Yeah. I never really gave it a fair shot. I'm willing to admit that. Yeah, there is, I feel like there's a lot in there that you'd enjoy. Maybe there's a part of my brain that's like, oh, what, I'm supposed to like the fucking furry horse thing. And maybe that's why I was like hesitant and resistant, like, because everybody's like,
Starting point is 02:49:03 what Adam doesn't watch Bojack Horseman? I was like that other movie that came out without spoiling it, if you know the twist, don't say anything. But there was a, there's a movie called, oh, fuck. What was that? I know exactly the one. Yeah, even saying the title might be too much of a spoiler, actually, so that's not.
Starting point is 02:49:18 But there was a movie, a comedy film starring Lakeith Stanfield that was really good. When it came out, I didn't know anything about it other than everyone was messaging me, saying, Adam, have you seen this film? And that kind of spoiled it for me, because I figured it was going to go in a direction that involved some weird horse thing. That's lame. Oh, whatever. It was still good, though. Yeah, it's still really funny.
Starting point is 02:49:45 Yeah. What do you have, what, what's your alcohol situation, Ralph? Oh, oh, I have some Hennessy here. Hennessy! A bottle. Yeah, yeah. Let me see if I can try to match you with something. I'll try to get the same theme.
Starting point is 02:49:59 That's all I have in like... Oh, that's great. I don't have any beer in my fridge. Oh, that's totally fun. It's a celebratory shot. All right, hold that. I don't keep much hard liquor around. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 02:50:12 It's so strong like the smell.
