Hello, everybody.
Oh, my God, we're live.
Oh, my goodness.
We're doing it live, my goodness.
Oh, my fuck.
What's going on?
This is Jake from Man Carrying Thing.
This is Alex from I.G.
And this is Adam from Your Movie Sucks.org.
Hi, my name is Adam from Your MovieSucks.org.
Yes.
This is Sardonicast.
episode
200
100
100
100 times two
quick math
hello everybody
we're going to wait
for some people to get in
oh here we go
yeah we got some comments
there are some people
there's some people
which ones oh sorry sinners
yeah great
that's movie yeah that's
I feel like I'm
like spenny right now
that's not me
no
How can you say that?
Do you guys want to hear about this guy called Michael Hanicki?
Oh, please.
Tell me everything about what you love about him, please.
He's a really good director.
Why?
He's my best friend.
Oh, yeah?
He pays me to promote him.
His work.
Oh, cool.
I'm paid by Big Hanukkah.
Big Hanky Chan.
Yeah.
Well, what makes him so good?
He likes to, just the way he does shots.
Okay.
No, like like tequila.
Is this in 4K?
This is 4K, right?
We're streaming to 2K.
It's a 4K camera, but like...
Okay.
You know, I'm doing as much as I fucking can with my equipment.
So, I'm doing that much.
I think it should be better.
I think it should be better too.
If everybody donates like a fuck ton of money,
I can buy another computer and then...
True.
This is really a trend of the year, right?
like the duo characters.
Hmm?
Loads of movies have been doing it.
Like,
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
This is sinners.
This is sinners right now.
I'm like in sinners right now.
This is crazy.
I am full of sin.
What happened?
What happened to the hair?
I mean,
I'm you,
but I'm looking at myself in the future.
Oh, you know what?
Like, I'm kind of like wanting to grow up back out,
but it kind of,
it got to like around
my eyebrows of starting to
turn into like a little emo thing which I was fine with but I kind of just wanted to like
you know just get a little bit of just make it look a little bit nicer like trim
around the edges and so the day I picked Alex up from the airport I got a haircut
and I cut off way too fucking much and I'm pissed about it actually so I have to wait like
another two months to get back to that point in time that I consider to be progress
because I do want to you know I want to grow my hair out again with some different
styles along the way, but right a few things. So moral of the story, never get a fucking haircut
ever again in your life. That's what I've learned because they'll just fuck it up. I've had so
many different hairdressers and they just keep fucking it up. That's what I'm always saying. Yeah,
that's why we're here on Sardonicast to talk about our hair. I think that's what people want to
talk about. Now, I mean, you kind of made it that way, didn't you? No, I didn't make it anyway.
This is just who I am. I'm Adam from YMS.org. The mic needs to be
more in front of it because otherwise we're going to have the same issue during setup.
That's what I'm always saying, too, as Adam.
It can be a bit lower, so it's not like blocking your face on the camera.
Here.
No, I like this.
Yeah, this is nice.
Adam likes it.
Yeah.
I mean, I have to commit to the bit a little longer and then I can stop.
Are you reviewing all of these films from the perspective of yourself, who is Adam also?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm going to, no, that's going to be way too long.
I mean, I feel like I don't even know how to do a good.
impression of Adam even though I am Adam.
You're killing it.
Thank you.
I think I'm doing a really good job.
I talked about 4K.
I talked about Michelle Hanukkah.
What more did you ask for it?
I don't know. I don't know.
It's tricky.
Lion King.
Hey guys, did you hear about this movie called The Lion King?
Oh, it's so good.
It's fine.
Here's my take as Adam from YMS.
I think the Lion King is kind of overrated.
In fact, I kind of think that the
2019 version improved upon it immensely.
Would you call it a Normie
Masterpiece? No, I just
call it a masterpiece straight up.
I would never call anything a Norma masterpiece.
Oh, okay, yeah. Yeah.
No, I think that the Lion King is
just a really great work of cinema,
John Favreau, you know,
chef. We love
chef. We love chef on this couch.
It's not even
that good.
It's like, people are like,
that's his best movie. I can see it right now. I can see it.
Yeah, yeah, five copies.
Chef is very good.
What else did John Favreau direct?
I mean, I could tell you because I'm the expert on John Favro.
Yeah, Iron Man.
Iron Man, Iron Man, too.
Chef.
More, the Lion King, Jungle Book.
Star Wars.
The Mandalorian.
Oh, yeah, he did a bunch of that.
And a new, like a new movie?
Yeah.
It looks like a new season.
Yeah.
That's a movie, I guess.
Um,
Um, um, um, um, um, um, uh, uh,
so when I, um, I picked up Alex.
Yeah.
And, um, that's what I did.
We hung out for a bit.
Hmm.
Got some pizza.
And then the next day, I, um, was limited to just liquids and laxatives because I, uh, had a colonoscopy
the day after.
And so we just hung out here and like played, uh,
I introduced Alex to cursed Halo.
And we didn't stream it because I was just like, I was feeling so shit.
Whenever Alex got hungry, I would order him food and just smell it and not be able to eat it.
I was very sad.
Damn.
But I finally got the colonoscopy I've been trying to get for a year.
And they put me on fentanyl.
So now I can say I tried fentanyl.
Nice.
Yeah.
I'm a fent boy.
I hear that stuff is kind of addictive.
It's fine.
Just be careful.
It's just an opioid.
That's it.
No, yeah, it was kind of weird.
Just like, I didn't plan for that to be a part of the trip,
but they were like, oh, this is the soonest you can do it.
And then, yeah, if I didn't do it during this week,
it would have been another couple months or whatever.
So I had to do it.
But it was better suffering with a friend.
so thank you yeah well i just got to play curse halo and eat yummy food so yeah
yeah yeah i need it i mean i just got here i feel like i walked in onto a dynamic that's
very special and you think you know you two have a special a special bond you know um and you guys
kind of gave me dirty looks when i walked in um but you guys have been really nice to me ever since i
put the wig on so yeah i'm always nice to add them from you
Your movie sucks.
Because that's who I am.
I'm Adam from Your Movie Sucks.org.
Yep.
I really love the work of Derek.
I forget the rest of that guy.
You forget his last name?
Yeah, but I really,
it's the coolest nice name.
It is cool.
I really, I'm thinking of a last name that's wrong.
That would be bad to say.
Oh.
Because I'm trying to think of other Derricks.
Yeah.
But yeah, I'm a big fan of his work.
I love,
I love being Adam from,
YMS.
And now I'm going to leave.
Thank you guys.
That was a good.
Yeah.
Contract has been fulfilled.
Thank you for having me, everyone.
I'm Adam from YMS and
I'm going to
I'm going to go.
Thanks, Adam.
Get me out of here.
And I just want to say,
fuck you guys.
I love Normie
masterpieces and the film
The Lion King 2019.
Thank you, everyone.
I can't clap with a bad arm.
Thanks, Adam.
I'll clap for both of us.
Thank you.
Yeah.
So who's the real Adam?
I'm kind of confused.
Well, that question will be addressed in Senecki, New York, Part 6.
Oh.
Because it's kind of a philosophical one.
No, Sinus part two.
The genius.
The genius of Seneck Dosh.
Seneck Dosh.
Yeah.
I can you pronounce it.
Dosh.
well it's just the two of us now so we can talk about good movies yeah be nice of Jake was here but whatever
yeah too bad he got oh fuck I thought you got been by a bird and died no that's that's you know
hey guys nice to see you it's so nice to be here yeah it's great meeting you for the first time just now
yeah I don't know who that guy was no don't worry about him yeah I will not I'll stop worrying about it
having me everyone it's a delight to be here you know i i feel like there's um there's a moment
that i i love hearing about uh at the end of friends because i'm a big fan of the show friends um
how at the end of it um paul rudd was like in the last season or something and all of the all of them
were like hugging on the last day when they filmed and he thought it'd be funny to go up and hug them
too and be like wow we came so far and they didn't think it was very fun i feel like paul rudd in that
scenario because you guys have done a ton of episodes. Oh, I see. With Ralph and then on your own.
And now I'm here to just kind of like, you know, bathe in the victory lap of episode 200.
And when I've done like four episodes. So, um, do you want the 100,000 subscriber plaque?
Yeah, that'd be nice. I'll just take it. Yeah. And then I'll quit.
No, I mean, we love, uh, we love having you. You're, you, you do a great job adding to the dynamic.
and I appreciate that you challenge me
and that if I say something crazy
it's funny and not like a crisis of serious
magnitudes and proportions
and you understand that we're just talking about movies
and things are fine.
No, I mean, that's something that everyone,
I kept seeing comments a lot where people would be like,
oh, finally, someone's going to challenge him.
And I'm like, yeah, I'm just going to come onto the podcast
and just start fight.
with Adam about random shit.
But I feel like we've had a good amount of discussions.
Yeah.
I feel like it's been fun.
We're able to, yeah, it's good to have disagreements.
And, and like,
disagree with.
Exactly, exactly.
People are saying I'm the normie voice of the people.
I think that's, a lot of people are saying this.
I feel like that's, that's a huge compliment.
I like that, yeah.
Yeah.
I'm just a normie, a normie.
Yeah, we all have our strengths and weaknesses.
I'm the normie.
Adam, you are the weird?
I'm the fucking freak.
Yeah.
And I feel like Alex is just like the most...
Yeah, what am I?
You are like the perfect combination of the two
where it's like you can dip into the freak world
and come out on skate and be zen
and just be a nice lovely person.
I mean, I have to say, folks,
ever since I got here,
these two have been very nice and friendly.
A little shy and kind of standoffish especially when I was looking at Adams
Blu-rays and I was about to touch one and he was just like and I was like I don't have to do that
They're not for watching they're for collecting okay that's why none of them are open
They're gonna become more valuable one day
There's like a couple that I have that are like that don't worry about that that just happens
Yeah someone says is this the sexuality spectrum sofa
Yeah, okay
Okay, it's interesting
I'm seeing a lot of RIP
Ralph comments
I just want to say
Ralph is not dead
Unless is that canon to the podcast?
I don't well people
Have different
Interpretations
Depending on the comments section
Okay
So
Okay, that's fine
Have you tried Jankham yet?
I have what?
Yeah
That was like an old meme
What do you want?
Yeah
I thought you were listening
since day one. I lied.
That's how I gone on.
Okay. Oh, that's why you're
honest, because you proved your allegiance
by saying you were listening. I just lied
the whole time, yeah. I was like, yeah,
I love the podcast and everything. And Adam's like,
why don't you come on? And I'm like, great, I'll just
steal that sweet, sweet ad sense money.
And be rich.
The most
lucrative money-making podcast
of all time. As you know,
because we're constantly doing
ads sponsorships and things
and paid product placements
like every episode
we've done several right
uh huh well that's the big announcement we're doing right
we're announcing we're doing it twice a week now
oh yeah no the the announcement is this stream is
officially sponsored by Avatar 3
I mean it genuinely is fire
you guys if you say anything bad about Avatar 3
I swear well that would be a breach of contract we're not allowed to
Yeah. We all signed it. Disney's not having that anymore. That's kind of like keeping me,
honestly, that's kind of keeping me sane for the rest of the year. I'm like,
oh really? Avatar 3's coming out. It's keeping you going. I'm like, I can last until
Avatar 3, then things will be fine. Yeah, nothing to live for after that point.
You know, my family and everything, they're cool, but.
Avatar 3 is kind of important. Then you got Avatar 4 and 5 as well. It's going to be going for years.
They better be a good fucking cliffhanger. If I don't support Avatar 3, they might
not make Avatar 4 and 5, and then the series wouldn't be complete.
We don't know what would happen to Jake solely.
Don't say that.
I put that energy out there.
It's just, you know what's funny?
I got a lot of Avatar vibes from a certain film that we're going to be discussing today.
Ooh.
Interesting.
Okay.
Well, we can start the film discussions at any point.
I have my notes.
Yeah, we can do that, or we can address, you know, the various topics that need to be addressed.
Mm-hmm.
Homelessness.
Avatar.
We discussed that.
Avatar 5.
I think we covered that as well.
It was a pretty thorough discussion.
Yeah, but I want to hear.
I have some questions for the two of you.
Please.
You guys have been doing this podcast for a while.
And in some way, I'm like the audience avatar because although I haven't seen every episode,
I've seen a fair amount of them, you know, when I was very depressed back in the day,
I used to listen to this podcast a lot.
but I was very depressed.
And that's why.
You know.
So, so what is it, what is it like?
What is, what has changed over the years?
What, what has been your favorite, some of your favorite memories doing this podcast?
That's my question for the two of you, Alex and Adam.
Favorite memories.
Well, I have like the advantage of being able to come and visit Vancouver.
Hell yeah.
That's some cool memories there.
You went to Seattle and everything.
Yeah
Since your favorite memories of doing the podcast
Of not doing the podcast
Traveling
The work expense trip
Little vacation
No but like
To be serious
Like the friendship's really cool
Yeah
Just being able to combine
Something you're passionate about
Exactly
You know have conversations you want to have
Yeah
Yeah, I
um
the reason why all three
are doing this is because we just enjoy it.
Right.
I enjoy talking about movies.
I enjoy getting my thoughts out in this format.
Um,
because you know,
I already have the like edited,
um,
you know,
stuff.
But like,
yeah,
there's,
there's,
it's a different medium and I like having a real
discussion with other people.
Mm-hmm.
About movies instead of just like,
throwing my thoughts out.
And sometimes it, you know,
something someone else will say
will help me form my own opinion a bit better, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, there's been a lot of
a lot of great moments.
That's very sweet.
I like when
people get mad on the subreddit.
You like that?
You like that?
That's your favorite part?
That's my favorite.
Yeah, where's the Normie?
masterpiece merch. I feel like that's got a
got a lot on my plate. Yeah, that's
really stuck. I do
I do agree we need some.
Well, I've got to say that it is, I do really like
the podcast just doing it, you know, because I'm here
for the money mostly and for the, you know,
appreciate the honesty, yeah. That's, yeah, I just got to be honest about that.
But second to that, I really like talking about movies with you guys.
I think when I did the guest episode, that was very,
fun, you know, talking to you because it did remind me of kind of being back in college
where you could just spend three hours talking about great films. And then I discovered that
you guys mostly wanted to recommend absolute dog shit. And then... Look, one of us. Yeah, one of us.
And then that was part of it. And I kind of like the back and forth of trying to fill up,
you know, an hour of conversation about some of the worst movies I've ever seen. And, but I'll
say my favorite episode I think we've ever done was the funny games episode nice because it it
created such an interesting conversation that was actually one of the more interesting conversations
yeah yeah I felt challenged I'm always feeling challenged mentally and I felt I felt kind of hurt by that
episode in a good way so yeah like a spicy meal yeah yeah you could say that yeah mm-hmm
Well, that's, yeah, that's what I, I love to challenge people mentally.
It's the kind of podcast chemistry that you can't, you can't make in a lab, folks.
No.
Uh-huh.
No, exactly.
Yeah, we had, that's why there was such a long period of time of just like Alex and I.
Mm-hmm.
Because, like, you know, we could have filled the third co-house slot right away.
But it made a lot more sense to just like.
be patient wait for like the right I don't want to rush into anything it's nice that we have all these different eras now has been going so long yeah like Taylor Swift exactly like Taylor Swift as well as yeah yeah
yeah the next era could be you know when I leave or when one of us dies or who knows that everyone hates each other for real era
the no one's enjoying doing it anymore era drama drama the era can I can I can I
ask a question of our chat.
Yes. Okay. Chat. Hi.
My name is Jake from Mancaring Teng.
What is your favorite episode of the podcast, of all the eras?
I want to hear it. What is one that stands out to you?
I think personally for me, for the Ralph era, I really love the Spider-Man trilogy.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah. That's one of my favorite episodes.
Yeah.
I know a shout of Madagascar.
Madagascar.
That's the one.
Yeah.
That was a great one.
That one's got like a huge roller coaster.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's got emotional range.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
I like the Jenny Nicholson one.
That was a good idea.
That was a good one.
Yeah.
Yeah, too bad she wasn't available for, you know, co-hosting duties.
Yeah.
I had to fight her for the job.
I mean, people don't realize that.
Black Christmas.
Human Centipies.
That was one of my least favorite
I love that one
You chose it, so
Yeah, you know what I get I get comments now
Yeah funny funny, uh-huh sure
But I get comments now whenever I dislike a movie
On our on woman-carrying man
People are like Adam is affecting you right
Oh yeah, no
People think I like psychologically control others
If I'm within someone's vicinity
And they say something that like
They don't like anything negative?
People are like, wow.
It's very interesting.
Yeah.
I'm a puppeteer.
My opinion's being atomified.
Yeah, I'm flattered that I'm a mastermind apparently.
I'm manipulating everybody.
Mm-hmm.
In ways that nobody understands.
To control the film opinions.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think it's nanomachines.
I've got nanomachine technology.
Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, I would explain it,
but I feel like I've always,
always just been. I mean, it's funny because
on a woman-carrying
man, I'm the cynical asshole
you know, of the dynamic.
And Nadia's the sweet, nice
reviewer who has the
normie opinions for the most part.
Whereas here,
it's totally reversed.
That's a good way of prediction.
It's a strange thing.
Okay, I have another question.
Yes. Since this is episode 200,
I feel like we have to have a sense of fanfare about this.
It's epic
It's epic
Nadia as a guest
Yeah we should have
We'll have Nadia
Hell yeah
Yeah
What is
The
The worst recommendation
That you guys have to watch
That was personally the hardest for you
I think going overboard's up there
Is that the Adam Sandman
That was yeah that was tough
Yeah I think I categorized that as like a tortured film
Okay
Yeah, and then beyond that
I don't know, like a Satan tango
It was quite I don't know
I don't know, Satan tango is long
But I kind of I can't at least with that I was
Almost anticipating something like hard to get through you know
Mm-hmm
Mm-hmm
Yeah probably going overboard's like pretty pretty up there
Okay, going overboard. What was the one that I just checked out like
Star Wars Rogue One where I just like couldn't even say anything about it because I was just like
Yeah, that might have been when did you watch Star Wars or when Alex
I was shortly you join yeah oh that was Alex's spite oh right yeah one of the many
Spite yeah I've never seen Rogue one really yeah to freedom no way Sarah to freedom was
To freedom was too good yeah that was awesome moulon rouge oh yeah that's a great one I found that
difficult you guys didn't like milan rouge right
neither of you like moon Rouge right neither of you like moon
No, I don't like fucking
Buzz Lerman at all, honestly
We discuss this. I love
I love Baz, Baz,
good old Bosch,
more like Bad
Bad Lerk man
I like Elvis. Elvis is
good. Oh, yeah. Oh wait, yeah.
I saw your side eye, Alex.
I can see you. I saw that look
you gave me. I don't know
opinion on Elvis. No, I don't like it. If it's like
Mulan Rouge
I agree.
You'd hate it.
It's worse than
Mulan Rouge.
But I love it.
It is.
Yeah,
it's the editing.
I can't.
Can't do it.
That's fair.
Second half of Elvis is good.
All of Velvus is good.
Sure?
Yeah.
I like when he gets fat.
I like the fat suit he wears.
It's a cool fat suit.
Do you like Tom Hanks?
Yeah, he's great.
I mean, that movie spawned some good memes, you know?
He's white.
He's white.
That's a great moment.
He's white.
What?
You know, I like how on the nose the music cues are.
Like, he's singing suspicious minds whenever he's being betrayed by his manager.
He can't stand it.
You're serious?
No, of course he's serious.
I'm dead serious.
There's like a million weird CGI transitions.
That's great.
Great Gatsby is great.
I will defend Great Gatsby.
That Gatsby be great.
He is.
Are we talking about one battle after another as well today? Yeah, I would like to. Yeah, we can start that whenever
So just an FYI everybody
I see a lot of super chats and we will be reading through them at the end
If you want your
Donation Red in a TTS voice, it'll sound like this
I don't know who Pani is, but that was our yes you do that was our first one so just link in the description if you
want the TTS but we'll be clicking on them at the end we're not going to have the TTS
interrupting our discussions because that would just be chaos so the super chats not
TTS the other link in the chat yes TTS I don't have a way to set it up with the
super chats for that TTS. Yeah do you want to talk about oh ba
oba is that the first one we're doing oh by I mean what do you think should we
do it in a different order you no let's start with that way the way
Yeah, yeah. Let's do it.
O'Bah.
The new Patah.
It's a, yeah, we finally got a large budget film from the Parent Teachers Association.
One battle after another.
Yeah, it was shot in VistaVision.
It's like this list, lovely.
But I couldn't see it anywhere in VistaVision because nobody has those projectors.
But I saw it in 70mm.
Nice.
Yeah.
I saw it in IMAX.
Nice.
press screening so it was a nice nice nice sound good picture oh yeah um yeah i fucking
love that i this this movie i like that it that it's big enough that we're kind of tricking
people into seeing art house movies again i like when that happens yeah because i think i think that
you know the general population should be experiencing things where they're like oh this can be told
in a different kind of way.
Yeah.
I saw Tron Aries.
Like two days ago, yeah.
I saw Tron Ares.
But as I was going in, I was kind of depressed because I had to watch Tron Aries.
And walking out of the theater, you know, I live in like a rural area.
Walking out of the theater was this like a couple with like a southern accent.
And they were walking out and they were so excited.
They were so happy.
And they were talking to the people selling popcorn.
And they were like, I just saw that movie.
It was so good.
It was called One More Brow.
battle oh my god that was so good and I was like they were like an older couple I was like
this is great this movie's reaching you know hell yeah the normies as it might be a certified
normie yeah okay well yeah it is my one's the kind of uniformity as far as there aren't
that many naysayers you know they're trying to like I'm a name oh they are Ben Shapiro they're trying
yeah there are a couple they're trying to politicize it and say it's uh I guess causing violence or something
I'm kind of missing the forest, you know, the kind of to what the film is doing.
I just don't like when Nazis are portrayed in media where you're saying it's bad.
Because I strongly identify.
I'm not going to finish that sentence.
That's how everybody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I personally need every movie I watch to turn to the camera and tell me exactly what is good and bad that is depicted on screen.
You know?
Yeah.
It's a movie.
It's art.
It's like, you know, you know, I...
Yeah.
It's not just a movie and art, but it's also, like, absurdist satire.
Exactly.
That's a comedy.
That's the biggest thing that I think a lot of people are missing.
Half of Ben Shapiro's review was him complaining about the names in the movie.
As if, like, he just was like, oh, that's a silly name.
I can't think of a better name than Perfidia.
Yeah.
I know.
Jungle pussy.
That was a good name.
That was an awesome name.
It was based off a book, right?
Based off of a book, and I believe,
kind of.
I believe Jungle Pussy is like an actual musician.
That's her actual stage.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, it is based on the book Vineland, sort of.
I guess PTA for like 20 years had wanted to do an adaptation of the book
Vineland by Thomas Pynchon,
which is kind of about the revolutionaries of the 60s,
becoming washed up in the 80s,
and kind of like transposing that story into the modern age.
But then he changed it a lot and kind of completely.
So like I guess the bones of the book are there, but it's a different thing.
It was like a short novel, right?
It's not a short for Thomas Pinchot.
Yeah.
It's not like 500.
It's not like a thousand pages.
Okay, okay.
I think it's like 300 pages or something.
And so you read it?
I have not.
Okay.
I just know this.
Okay, cool.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, I pretty immediately from watching the film, I was like, oh, it's kind of going for like a weird grind housey thing.
Because yeah, like a lot of, you know, not just it being shot on film, but like a lot of how things were framed were kind of like atypical for a PTA movie and seemed very intentional, but intentional and kind of like a, we're going back in time a little bit kind of way.
where like the framing
there's a lot more
like close shots
and even though I was never starved for like
you know
what the room felt like
like it's not like we had a lack of
establishing shots
and it's in their entirety
there was definitely
there were definitely choices where I'm like
okay this feels like kind of like
almost like a
like a medium
classic kind of 70s film, even though it's not set in the 70s.
I feel like it's very much going for like this very subtle layer of like grind house
cheesiness while at the same time obviously, you know, successfully presenting, you know,
serious tones and emotions. I consider it to be like kind of like a like a grind housey
no country for old men where it's like neither of those things are contradictory somehow,
but with any other director it would be.
I love, like what you mentioned there about the,
how he's very spare with like how he uses the camera
because there are scenes where you think there'd be a bunch of different setups
for a certain moment.
And then I think back to the actual scene and how it was shot.
It was just one shot or like a close-up of DiCaprio
for the whole conversation.
You don't even see the reaction shots of the person he's talking to.
It was just all in our head.
And it makes the movie feel much bigger than it is
because he's so specific about
where he's pointing to camera that it's like he there's not a million setups for all of these
action sequences you know it's very deliberate and kind of um i don't know it's very unique but we
mentioned like the the comedy satire element but at its core like it's still a tense action
movies that's what two hours 40 minutes long and manages to maintain that tension all the way
throughout a couple moments where it releases some steam like almost like throws you off like
oh no you've like been building this momentum for so long
But it knows when to just bring it back, how to keep it going.
It just makes it so satisfying.
The way it builds on itself is never boring.
It's like not a bad character or scene.
Yeah, and the moments where it does decide to be slow are very kind of like atypical and intentional in ways that make it more interesting.
Like, you know, we'll get into spoiler discussion later.
But, you know, one example is just like how long he's like on the phone for trying to do a specific.
Like in any other narrative, it would be well.
into the next point, well into the next beat of where the character is supposed to be,
but having him just frustrated and stuck while the rest of the world is still going.
The rest of the events are still happening, but he's just like, you know,
staying in one spot while everything else is continuing to go.
I love that.
And it creates not only, you know, like an increased sense of dread, but it's very funny.
It's very funny.
It's very funny movie.
And, yeah, I mean, I saw the, I went to the screening with,
to my mom because Nadia couldn't go.
And my mom is maybe she's like two movies here.
And she loved it.
She was like,
that was so exciting and entertaining.
And I was,
I was worried like partway through.
I'm like,
maybe this is boring.
Is this going too long?
But no,
she was like,
that was super tense.
And yeah,
it is a crowd pleaser.
Like,
I feel like most normal people
who watch her are like,
oh, yeah,
it's about a story.
I mean, it's like a Liam Neeson
action movie in a way,
but with like that satirical bent.
It's just tonally,
it's amazing how well,
all it works. Those first 40 minutes
are just so propulsive. There are some
people who are like, it doesn't really kick in until we get
to the time jump, but those first 40 minutes are
my favorite part of the movie. It's just so...
I don't think there's any other PTA sequence like those
first 40 minutes that just build and jump through time and have
this classical, almost
like old school Hollywood piece where it'll
just like push through the narrative
all these years. Except for like maybe
boogie nights.
know, that kind of energy.
I feel like this is the perfect blend of his, like,
there will be blood, the master era and Magnolia and Boogie Knights era.
Like, he's, he's, it's like the perfect mix of everything I love about PTA.
So. Yeah.
And it's not just like the editing, which is fantastic, but like this structure and
deciding what, how things are going to look before you even film it, right?
Yeah.
Although, you know, with that sequence, I'm sure a lot of it could be figured out in the editing process.
but it did seem to have a good amount of intent.
But also how like three-dimensional and interesting,
the characters the stories told to.
Like Leo being his past his prime, paranoid drug-addled.
You can't remember his old passwords from when he was a revolutionary.
It's such a fun, like, angle to take.
Him scrambling around.
And then, you know, getting up against Sean Penn, to me,
just stole the show.
Like, I hadn't seen him in anything since I am Sam, I think.
so I'd forgotten what he's capable of, but that character was like...
It's an I-M-Sk performance, you could say.
It's very big.
Oh, yeah.
But hilarious, too, like how insecure that dude is and how...
The whole mission, the way he overlaps with Leo, we're not talking spoilers yet.
Like, the way that goes, the way that develops.
So unexpected and...
Yeah, for the societies and cults and all of that element.
The places it goes with that, it's so like,
it's very silly.
Even though if like the book was,
The Christmas Adventures.
The book's like, yeah, the Christmas Adventures.
It was set during like 80s second term Reagan era or something.
Yeah.
And it kind of carries on that energy and still feels like prescient.
That's to what it's going for.
Yeah, hell yeah.
Yeah, we can.
I love the score also.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, that's huge.
Super interesting, Johnny Greenwood.
Yeah.
Amazing.
Score is really good.
It's very subtle, too.
Like, it's not overbearing, but it, like, it carries...
No, no, it's present.
It's present throughout, but the composition is subtle.
It's not, like, subtle in the sense as, like, oh, you wouldn't know there's a score there.
Yeah.
But it's not, like, the focus of the scene, even though you know, it's not a Christopher Nolan score
where, like, the orchestration is...
Or Hans Zimmer with Christopher Nolan.
It's not where, like, the orchestration is...
like the orchestration is trying to compete with the narrative.
The the instrumentation and composition very simple and repetitive and it never stops.
I mean there's two scenes where it's like not there.
But when I yeah, when I'm saying subtle, I mean like it's it's it's complimenting and
enforcing a tone without competing with what you're seeing on the screen.
And I love that.
It's just it's very complimentary.
It's very easily parodied.
I think that's one thing.
I've already seen parodies on like TikTok of zoomers like going bum, bump bump
on the piano, you know.
It's awesome.
But that,
and then that big like wave of sound and watching it in IMAX with so fucking loud.
That first opening scene where it's like the piano and then just that wall of sound
is just so, oh my gosh, just so exciting.
I get chills still thinking about it.
Yeah, no, I would have seen this twice
if I wasn't so goddamn basic.
Yeah, same.
I can't wait to see it again.
Sam here.
Yeah, like I'm excited to see it a second time.
Yeah.
I would love to just find random people
to just bring to the movie.
Yeah, fuck it.
Maybe I'll, it'll probably still be playing in theaters for...
I hope so.
Hopefully, yeah.
It seems like it's holding very well
in terms of box office revenue.
It didn't make a ton of money opening weekend,
but it's like, it's holding on very well.
It's got laid.
It's got legs.
Stickiness.
It's a sticky-us.
It's got some sticky legs.
Sticky qualities.
Yeah.
Like I can't stop thinking about certain scenes in particular.
They've just stuck with me.
Yeah, I've kind of sick forever.
Yeah.
Forever.
Yeah, I mean, I really think that it's, I mean, I kind of think that it should not win best picture.
Why?
Because that would kind of ruin it.
No.
Oh, it wouldn't ruin it.
What do you mean?
But I mean that like it, it's, it's,
It needs this kind of edgy, like, quality.
Like, it's, it's kind of a subversive movie.
Like, when you look at what it is and what it's trying to do,
especially considering the time period is coming out right now,
it's kind of like a movie of its time in a way that other PGA movies haven't been.
There's a reason why you see conservatives getting pissed off about it,
because it is drawing on, even though I don't think it's like a revolutionary text or anything,
it's drawing on the iconography of our time and of our time period in a very overt ways.
It's like creating this weird satirical alternate reality world that is like helping us digest this time now.
And it's just an amazing work of art that I don't know if the academy would be willing to, you know, give it the top spot.
But you're saying it shouldn't, though.
I personally think that it's cooler not to win Best Picture.
Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't care whether or not it's cool.
I want the best movie to win
And I don't give a fuck
If people think that's cool or not
I think best picture is for Green Book
And you know
Green Book every year
Green Book every year
In Nomad Land
And what are some other
Coda
Cota yeah
What are some other
Underwhelming
Best Picture winners
The crush
Crash
Well that's not underwhelming
That's like a disaster
Right
The one with the investigation of the priests and stuff?
Spotlight?
Spotlight, yeah.
I liked Spotlight.
Oh, there you go.
Normie Masterpiece.
Spotlight's really good, actually.
I'm going to enjoy it.
Yeah.
We can turn on spoiler discussions if we want to talk about spoilers.
Because there's spoilery things that I would like to talk about.
Oh, yeah, man.
Uh-huh.
This, also the brutalist.
I remember last year, that was another one I really wished I could see it again in theaters,
but just not having the time.
Yeah.
It's these long as, maybe this thing in your day.
It's like a whole thing.
Yeah.
Spoilers, everybody.
Oh, ba.
Obe.
Leonardo DiCaprio fucking dies.
The actor.
They shoot him.
They shoot him.
And Mark Wahlberg's in the elevator with him,
and they shoot him in the elevator.
And Mark Wahlberg's The Rat at the end of the film.
Yeah, I love one of the other examples of them deciding to take their time with things
in an atypical way is when the daughter, rather than just kind of like leaving that massacre,
she has to like find out whose keys control.
the vehicle as she's trying to start it because it's like not close enough and like having to like just calm down and like not be sure and like go back like I love decisions like that where it's like okay it's taking its time it's making it's extending things but it's like for good like emotional and unique purpose right like I like that PTA with constructing this film there's many scenarios where you can tell he visualized like what would be interesting or
what he would do or what someone might do in that situation, right?
Like, even the...
It's very realistic.
The hills at the end, like, you can tell that came from him driving on those things and
thinking, oh, okay, yeah, well, if you can't see what's over, how could that be interesting
in a movie?
Like, it all comes from, like, a really real place.
I gave it such a nice, like, depth that used of those roads and the skylines and everything.
The ingenuity of the daughter character, how she deals with that chase and that mess.
and like when um shaw and pen was taken out in that car crash
part of me was like oh no
I feel like I needed more of this guy like
oh yeah me too I feel like unsatisfied by this
it just it knows and addresses it shortly after
and he gets the best conclusion possible
I was really kind of annoyed when that happened
because I was like he needs to have a showdown with Leo
at the end of the film and but
I really like too that like Leo
doesn't really do anything like he doesn't even like save her
she saves herself and uh
you know, comes up with the idea to crash the car, basically.
And yeah, it was just great.
And the final sequence, shout out Jim Downey of, you know,
the legendary Saturday Night Live writer.
You guys know who Jim Downey is?
No.
He was one of the Christmas adventurers.
Oh, he's the one in the movie who says,
we need to, you know, get rid of the haters, pun, lunatics,
haters and punk trash.
He's also the one at the end of the film who's like,
Oh, I forgot the key when he locks Sean Penn in the office.
He also became famous from a meme that derived from Conan O'Brien's podcast
to where he goes, Jeff Epstein, the financier.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Oh, it's him, yeah.
Yeah, anyways, I loved seeing him to this.
He was also in There Will Be Blood, actually.
But I just, I had such, he was so good in this.
He was such a good, like, little bit player.
That just made me laugh so much during all those Christmas adventure scenes,
which is just such a perfect
name for such a stupid
type of person
I just couldn't think of a better
what do they say
what's the thing they say to each other when they
hail St. Nick
Hill St. Nick
and I also just love like the way
they kind of introduce the
the status elements
of it where it's just like oh yeah you're better
than other people basically
Like it was phrased in a different way
But I just love
That you know
It's communicated that the importance of being a part of this group is literally just some weird like
Insecurity
Of like needing to feel like you're a part of something special and better than other people and looking down and you know like it's just
Yeah, it's interesting
Yeah
I love every moment of that's contrasting between this stupid organization that is clearly frightening like they they have like the guys who
are like doing the violence for the Christmas adventures.
They're, they're very scary.
They're scarier than Sean Penn, who's just a big goofball idiot.
Yeah.
But, and then contrasting that with every time Leo's on screen,
just losing his fucking mind.
You know, one of my favorite lines in the movies
when he's just so exasperated and exhaustion on the phone
and he just goes, life, man.
Life!
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, just like when their daughter character just dismantles him
and like the first time they really properly meet.
You know, why's your shirt so tight?
And he's just immediately like, I'm not gay.
That's what you're asking.
I'm not going to.
I love that exchange.
It's so funny.
Yeah.
Some people are like legit like that.
And it's funny to see this film that is so clearly, you know, an absurdist satire.
Things are just like, they're extreme, but they're also very real reflections of society and things that we can see, right?
Like it's just more of an absurdist take on it, but it's still real.
That's why there are people getting upset about the Christmas Adventures Club.
Oh, yeah.
That's me.
Them projecting, yeah.
Well, I've seen critique, honestly, from both sides.
Because people are like, why isn't he explaining the most effective way for, you know, revolutionary action?
It's just like, it's like, I don't think PTA is trying to go into the details of how an organization.
function. It's very clearly he's using this as a framework to talk about like fatherhood, about time,
about, you know, life. I mean, it's it's a satire. I mean, so much of those early scenes are so funny.
And perfidia, Beverly Hills is such a great and interesting character that contains so much
within her that isn't just like, this is why radical, these groups are evil, you know? It's like
There's a lot of complexity that the movie's trying to,
you know,
deal with.
And it's looking at these people as human beings more than anything,
which is something I always love about PTA movies.
He's that,
it's that Altman-esque, you know,
humanism that is like taking these characters
who could be total stereotypes and, you know,
goofy, broad characterizations and honing in on what makes them people.
Because even Sean Penn's character, Lockjaw, as insane and goofy he is, he feels like a three-dimensional character.
He doesn't feel like a cartoon.
Yeah.
Yeah, it doesn't feel like preachy or condescending.
Even with the charge topics that it's playing with, it does.
It's very confident in like the tone that's bringing in there.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And like a character doesn't necessarily represent all of one thing, right?
There's enough of like variety of different people.
I've seen some criticisms like
you know
with like the
I forget her name but the
Leo's like love interest
and just like
her problematic elements and some people
interpreting that is like you know
saying that that's that's like something
to be said about all black women or something like that
but I feel like there's enough
you know like black female characters
in the film that are you know pretty clearly
not that and also kind of like caught off guard
by her like problematic
nature as well that it's like you know it's not painting a brush and saying everything is this or
everything is this or everything is this like it's i think it's handled well enough um i mean i i i don't know i
mean there were there were things that i didn't notice as being potentially like you know i
understand why there are critics of that especially black critics who are looking at this and going
why are she characterized this way why are these characters portrayed this way and and asking questions
about, you know, a white director and writer, you know, depicting these this way. But I also think that
those kinds of questions will also kind of, I feel like it's so early after this movie coming out
that there's going to be a lot of discourse and discussion and thinking about why this was
depicted this way, et cetera. And I just, I feel like it'll even out over time, you know,
there's going to be. And it's good. I mean, that's why we like movies.
like this because it's it's not just telling you exactly what it wants to to say you know it's a
much more interesting way to be a lightning road for these oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah yeah something like
it's a great film i mean if it wins best picture we'll see more people having these exact same
discussion yeah then it just become it it becomes the movie that people yeah talk about yeah
if i mean it's already being talked about in film circles but yeah yeah oh man i
I feel like if this wins, I feel like Donald Trump is going to send a drone strike to Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht or something.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
He won't even understand the concept of like PTA being the director.
Just like Leo DiCaprio was in it.
He made a film.
It was his movie.
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean, like, I think that the absurdist nature of the film gives it a bit more leeway to, you know, still be able to take whatever you think.
the messaging is but not you know always take it like kind of with a grain assault you know
because I don't there's this problem that happens with um especially like very underrepresented
groups of people like trans or non-binary where um sometimes in media you wind up running into
like the opposite problem where people are kind of afraid to show them as like flawed human beings
and then you then you get a good chunk of media where it's like like like a good chunk of media where it's like
like, okay, if a trans or non-binary character is in it, then they have to be like Goody Two
Shoes and like they're not really a character anymore because they're afraid of like how they're
being represented. So I try to keep that in mind, you know, because there's criticism of, you know,
the NB character is the one to like give her phone number sort of thing. But I don't, I think, I think I,
you know, I wouldn't be so uncharitable towards PTA, especially, you know, I love his movies. I don't
think he would, I don't think he has any stakes in wanting to communicate that like NB characters
are bad or something or that NB people are not trustworthy. I don't believe that of him. So my
perspective is going to be like, okay, no, that's just a character. It could have been any of
the characters, but it's just deciding. Yeah. Didn't read that right. Yeah, exactly.
It doesn't read that because it doesn't feel like it has an agenda. Like it doesn't feel like it's
trying to say or move anything in any direction. It's just this is the story that he's making. I mean,
Yeah. And it is still saying things, but...
Well, yeah, of course, but it's not like a very super conscious, you know, shoehorned message that he's trying to say.
It's more multifaceted than that.
Yeah, he's not propagandizing.
We haven't even mentioned Benicio del Torre.
Hell yeah.
Another, like, scene stealing.
Few small beers?
Performance, yeah, I love that few small beers.
It's so good.
Best character.
His, like, outfit design.
Hell, yeah.
He's not even in it that much, but man, he steals.
it. He's the perfect sidekick.
He's stuck in my head so much that
even like ever since I've seen the movie
I'm having a stressful day I will literally
think of him and I'll think about him saying like
ocean waves Bob. Yeah yeah yeah yeah and I'm just like
what would yeah all right I'm all right
ocean waves. The timing of that shot
where he closes the like bunker door
and the rug unfolds like
very West Anderson yeah there's some Wes Anderson
in this movie for sure
I love the
like as soon as they're out of the hospital he's like selfie
you can see like Leo's face he's like about to cry
like that's perfect I love that so much I love how
that whole sequence when they go up through you know
where he lives and all of the people living there he's trying to
help escape and it's just so incredible how calm he is
and patient and he's clearly dealing with way more than Leo is in this
sequence where he's just Leo's up concerned about his himself
and his child, you know,
but he's dealing with this whole,
you know, movement and everything
trying to get these people to safety.
But he has just as much patience and calm for Leo
as he does for everyone else there.
It's just an incredible sequence,
which apparently that was something
that Benicio D'Al Tora brought to the film,
at least from interviews.
I don't know if I saw this.
That they were kind of working on
what this whole sequence would be like.
And he brought in this idea
of having like this underground
system of getting these people out of the town.
So that's kind of crazy.
I didn't realize how much was changed and changing in the process of how this movie was made.
That's why he's like so fascinating because it does feel like there was a lot of collaboration in this movie and a lot of people were bringing a lot of things to it.
That kind of filmmaker where it doesn't feel like it was locked in yet until they were really filming it.
And it feels like that kind of, again, Altman thing where it's not like, he's not like the Coen Brothers where everyone's saying the precise lines and nothing's.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
But it feels like there's Coen Brothers elements in it.
Like it still has that level of like meticulousness, at least from the perspective of watching it, right?
It feels like things are planned out to such a ridiculous degree.
But then you like, you know, I was listening to like an interview of like a gaffer on the movie.
phing and and he was saying like yeah this i was shocked like showing up to this film set and there
was a point where like paul thomas anderson asked me oh what did you what do you think of this
and for like just him to have had his opinion be considered as just somebody that's you know
one of the lower jobs in terms of like decision making on a film like he was just kind of
taken aback by that and so it's an interesting window into like the process with pta
at least at this point in his career.
I have a question for you guys.
How do you feel about, we all loved Eddington.
How do you feel about Eddington now after seeing this time?
I mean, I feel the same, honestly, because I didn't overshoot it.
I didn't, I didn't, but I do see the similarities.
And I do see some people being like retrospectively Eddington's wars.
I've seen that too, but I don't feel that way.
I feel like they're different enough when they're not stepping on each other's toes.
Even though there is that, you know, thematic similarity for what they're going for.
different enough. It's two directors dealing with the present day. That's the only thing where they're
like really similar because I think Ariaster has a very different perspective on life and people and humans.
Like his movie is kind of, it's hilarious, but in a totally different way than a way that makes
you feel bad. You know, like you watch this movie and it's dark and upsetting in a lot of ways,
but you come out of it on a high with the thing about Tom Petty, you know, needle drop at the end of
the movie. Like it's, it's very exciting.
and makes you feel good,
but Eddington makes you feel like a piece of shit,
and that's why I love it.
How do you feel about these emotes that fanboy posted?
Who is who?
Oh, well, you don't know who is who?
Come on.
What are you talking about?
Wait, am I the blue guy?
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah, you're the blue guy.
That's so weird.
Well, who else would you be?
I thought it would be the red guy.
No.
No, I guess that's true.
Because for this, for this podcast,
I'm the happy little blue.
blue guy.
Yeah.
I like that.
I like being the
happy Normie
on this podcast.
Yeah.
Must be great, man.
Yeah.
Must be nice.
Must be nice.
Yeah,
awesome movie.
Anything else we didn't mention?
That fucking
oneer
where he falls from the roof.
Yeah, no.
It's so cool.
And I'm so excited
to see it behind the scene.
I've no idea.
And I'm hoping, like, in their Oscars push,
we get some weird, like, YouTube video explaining how it was done.
I straight, I don't understand.
It's got to be several shots, like, combined, or several, like, actor actions.
Like, there's a stunt.
But the transition into, like, him being clearly, yeah.
Maybe they, like, composited his face onto the stunt act.
Maybe the stunt actor did the entire.
scene but then they got Leo to do the same motion and then like digitally put it because it's dark too
I think they just I think they just push Leo off of a 40 that's exactly what it looks like oh exactly right
that's why it's so cool yeah and then it gets tased right after that was oh yeah like stunt Leo
all in one shot and it's just yeah it's really really cool as archetypal as this movie is with like
the plot beats it also feels it just as unexpected through each moment like I don't know like
you know there's going to be some kind of showdown between him and lockjaw that he's like basically doing like taken and going after his daughter but yeah those moments that just throw you off totally and he ends up at the hospital and he has to escape the hospital and like it's just um man super unpredictable
it is very unpredictable i love that in the uh we're given like an idea of what the character's goals are like where he's trying to get
Yeah. Very clear, very simple to understand. But the timeline of him getting there is like,
just in one spot for so long and then like makes a little bit of progress and then just like,
whoop, way back like. Yeah, yeah. And then like has to correct. Like it's just a movie of him
trying to fix all the mistakes he's made throughout, like the runtime in before, you know, even.
Yeah. Do you guys have any interpretation about the end letter? Do you think it was legitimate? Or do you think Leo wrote that?
Oh, that's a good question.
I wonder.
That's interesting.
Because I like that we don't really know.
I mean, I like the idea that it could be that,
but I do feel like the movie really sells that it is her because of her.
She reads it, right?
We hear her voice.
So it does.
True, that does kind of enforce it.
I wonder.
I do think it was her, at least in my reading.
Yeah.
But, yeah, if it isn't, then that, yeah, it's just a different read.
I don't know.
I mean, I do think that moment does help bring her character full circle because I do think like in her world and Perfidia's world, she made a huge fucking mistake and now can't do anything about it.
You know, she's out of the country, out of her child's life.
And I think the whole movie is really about how DiCaprio being a wonderful father and taking care of her daughter, that is doing good in this world.
you know that's not a useless
action you know showing love to his child
and in raising her to be the next generation
to do better in the world so
I'm so glad they didn't try and force in the like
mama reunion
yeah yeah I know
yeah for how crowd pleasing it is like they never go to that level
yeah yeah yeah it would just be too cool in it too convenient
I wasn't you know left
like feeling like something was missing
no from the extent
experience or like the loose ends.
Everything felt like a choice to like not include if it wasn't and one that works for him.
Yeah.
Movies, man.
My freaking movies, man.
Life.
Fucking.
The heck are these fucking pictures.
You take 24 of them every second and it turns into a moving image.
The problem with doing one battle after another first is that we're really like peaking now.
Sure, but who cares?
Like, we get, I don't care
What the fuck is wrong?
We peek with the questions, okay?
The questions are where.
That's true.
Someone said Jake's fit goes hard, guys.
I'll take it.
There you go.
I will fucking take it.
This was just random.
This was all the clothes I had that didn't have throw up on it.
Cool.
What do we give?
Obe.
O'bah.
I give it a freaking 10 out of 10.
Yeah.
I'm just a smidge under.
I'm a 9 out of 10, 4 and a half star.
yeah I might go up
yeah well I'm future
proofing my rating because it's going to be a 10 on my
second watch too
but you're you're gonna have to correct yourself
and that's it yeah rewrite history
yeah 10 out of 10
let me come on
what do you guys
hey yeah that's right here
it's fine I really does hate everything
I'll be the hates that was a very
strengthy
strong
yeah I could like feel that
that was a punch
That was a punch to my knuckle
Are you okay?
I'm okay well because that was my good arm
Okay
But if it were my other
I was careful not to use my bad arm
I like it when you like movies
That makes me happen
Yeah
You know
I feel like if you like
That's a good thing
Yeah
Same you know
But is it someone says
Is it better than War of the Worlds
And I think that's
That's not good
In terms of enjoyment
I really enjoyed war of the world
I don't know.
I mean, yeah, they're all great.
I gotta pee.
Hold it for it.
I got to be real.
All right, pause the podcast.
We're not pausing.
Someone push pause.
I thought they're hitting Alex.
Oh yeah,
that must have looked like you were like crushing my head between your fist.
Thanks.
Well, now that he's gone, we can finally talk about what we want to talk about.
We can be honest for once.
You can be honest for once.
I can talk about normally masterpiece quick before he gets back.
this is usually you know this this part usually gets edited out of the recordings
if adam goes somewhere or something but that's usually when we talk shit about him yeah it's like
venting time yeah so you've been here for you know you've been hanging out with adam for a while
what's his deal what's going on what is his deal where do i begin you know that's a load of
question then you're too nice you're too nice yeah
I mean, I feel like
I feel like you guys are just
having a good time. The good
vibes are here. I'm just, yeah, I'm just chilling.
Man, that's great.
That's what life is all about.
That's what life is all about.
Someone said blink twice if you're held hostage.
I think they're talking about you.
Yeah.
Okay.
Watch my eyes. How was Tron, by the way?
How's that boy, Jared?
Jared.
Tron was fine.
Was the music good at least?
The music was great.
Yeah, that kind of made the movie.
If it wasn't there, it'd be like a four out of ten.
But with the music, I gave it a six out of ten.
But I do think the movie kind of broke Nadia because we did a recording and she legit was like something snapped.
Such a weird franchise.
It seems like no one really cares about it.
It's a franchise.
We're talking about Tron.
I don't care about it.
They're like these two.
tech demo movies.
They are...
I hate them.
Okay, they are not good movies, but it's...
I like Tron.
I like, I enjoy it.
There's something like corny and fun about it.
Sure.
Okay.
But then having Dau Punk and now Ninn.
It's like, why are you doing...
Why do you have these amazing soundtracks
in the most mid-films ever?
Yeah, I know.
I know.
I really...
I think the first Tron is kind of bad.
But Tron Legacy...
Yeah, I found out to get through.
Tron Legacy is kind of good.
Yeah.
Um, I, uh, you're okay.
Alex recommended me one day these fried egg potato chips.
Did I say that I don't know if...
They're weird.
I don't know if they contain real egg.
The...
They're not say if it's vegan or not.
Well, you know, the ingredients are here.
So you can read the ingredients.
Thank you.
But, um, um, um,
um,
got eggs in it.
We also have...
Oh, those are the wine.
Sparkling wine flavored, which...
Weird, okay.
Oh, it's egg free.
What?
What is it?
Okay, good.
Well, this one has...
How do they do that?
This one technically has milk in it.
So, surprisingly, the sparkling wine ones, you can have an egg.
That's cool.
But I'm making people try the fried egg chips
because it's my hyperfixation.
Of last month, but I'm committing.
It just says potato, sunflower, oil, natural, flavoring, salt, sugar.
Nice.
I'll try this.
All right.
Alex is going to try the sparkling wine ones.
Sure.
I know, right?
I know, right?
That's really weird.
I like how it says four sardonic has 200 on it.
So I wouldn't eat them beforehand.
All right, I'm going to try these.
I don't know how I feel about that.
It's like Prosecco but a chip.
Yeah.
It tastes like you're drinking alcohol, but like the texture is not right.
No.
It's disturbing.
The flavor's not right.
Yeah, guys.
Yeah, I'm vegan.
That's why I'm being annoying about the...
You can do it.
Don't help me.
Do you want to?
Just rip and tear, man.
Free those eggs.
Man.
I think there's a way to do it.
This is good podcasting.
I don't care.
Aha.
Oh man.
Nice, I know.
Isn't that weird?
Gryce.
Egg chips.
I like the egg chips.
The fried egg chips.
Someone said, Jake, you're American.
You can open chips.
Right.
Thanks for remind me.
When is the last time you'd have had an egg?
Had an egg?
Yeah.
Not in...
had a vegan egg this morning breakfast nice but a real egg it's been like five years wow
is that how you remember it yeah one of these guys it tastes pretty good yeah i don't remember why
you talked about these on the podcast i don't remember why i guess it was just such a weird thing
it is a weird thing and i was just like i got to try them so i imported them i mean it tastes like egg
it's more it goes like a friday it goes together better than the wine well yeah because the crispiness of the of the of the
chip is like the crispy edges of the fried egg.
But there is no crispiness to a prececo.
Potato and wine. Yeah, I don't know about that.
No. All right. I'll move these away. Thank you for humoring me.
Oh, you're taking away the food.
I mean, we're gonna order food. I go my goodies as well.
No, I'm good. I'm just teasing you.
I did bring some British treats for you guys.
Oh, really?
British, yeah.
I was trying to think that...
Yeah, why not?
I just wanted to grab some things that...
They're all vegan as well.
Thank you.
Some British things that I hope that are difficult for you to get.
Okay, what should I start?
Got your little marmot.
Oh, oh my gosh.
One each.
Vegan spread.
Yeah, that should be vegan.
There's only one thing.
Thank you.
I've never had this.
Marmite.
How similar to Vegemite is it?
It's quite different, actually.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
I'm excited to try this.
But they're both used to.
You're either going to love it or hate it, so.
It's rich in B vitamins.
Yeah.
Like, very deep.
It's pretty, yeah, it's pretty strong.
You might hate it.
I'll eat anything.
Yeah.
Normally you'd have it on, like, some toast or something,
with a bit of spread of them.
No, I'll do it raw first.
Yeah.
I'll be going in.
Are they going to stop me at the border for this?
No, it's processed.
That's fine.
We're doing some marmite yeast extract.
Yeah, I'm curious what you'll think.
Yeah, this is more.
The Odal Bunga says Marmiteau, but only use a very small amount.
It's very tough.
It is.
It's like it like a kind of similar to...
It is similar.
But yeah, there's, um, yeah, there's, um, yeah, the tartiness is, tardiness is.
Yes, I did bring in a Tesco bag, Jimmy Ma.
So, I'll do some experimenting. I'll fuck with it. I'll put it on on toast and stuff.
That's kind of interesting. Yeah, that's weird. I suppose these kind of go with it. These are like the most British.
Twiglitz. Twiglitz. Oh my God. You heard of these guys before. I got you guys.
Rick.
Oh, he's good.
Again, I don't know if you're like them.
Oh, my God.
Pie in fiber oven baked, not fried.
Yeah.
Twiglets.
Nadia's gonna love Chinese.
Entertain your senses.
Only twiglets give you that distinctive knobbly shape
combined with a zingy taste and crunchy bite.
K-N-O-B-B-L-Y, yeah.
Okay.
Crunchy bite for all-round sensual.
Sorry.
Yes.
It says it.
Sensual?
What?
Satisfaction.
We just built different.
I don't think we can eat these on camera.
Wait, can I have one of those foods?
Yes.
Oh, yeah, go to try it.
That was the one that I used.
I don't think, don't, just because I did that doesn't mean you should.
Oh, really?
No, you go to try it.
I mean, go for it, yeah, it'll be fun.
I'm curious what you think.
I have no idea what it just like...
Whoa.
I had a lot of that.
I'm built different.
Oh, God.
What's your guttural reaction?
That's great.
Yeah, you know.
Look, I tried to warn you, but then...
Yeah.
That's really...
I mean, like, you know, it's used as a...
You either love or hate it term.
I feel like I would enjoy it on toast, but yeah.
On its own, it's a bit of a...
I personally wouldn't do that.
What the heck?
That's a weird fucking flavor.
What fuck is this?
I haven't had a twiglin forever.
They are quite...
Are they all the...
This weird taste?
New and improved taste.
Before here, let me try one of those
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, what the hell's going on here?
So do you pick
You purposefully pick the weirdest tasting things
Yeah, one of the things that you wouldn't be able to like get easily
Yeah, fine British cuisine
Oh yeah
It just tastes like burnt
It does taste like a burnt other thing
It smells kind of burnt, yeah
No, yeah, it does taste like burnt
Does it like
Wow
It tastes like Marmite?
This? Is this supposed to be Marmite?
I don't know, that's how I remember
No, it just tastes like burnt. I haven't had one in place. It just tastes like it tastes like if you burnt your meal and then just like ate the burnt part
It tastes like the bottom of a grill. Yeah, no, this is
This is fucking fascinating. I kind of like it. I don't know I'm glad you like it. I don't know if I like it. I don't know that's all right
I'm shocked that I was able to handle the marmite is really weird better
I like that. Yeah, I'm not even gonna go for more actually. I'm just gonna leave it right
It's gonna leave it a bit
I had to get you some condiments
Please thank you HP
H.P sauce hell yeah
It's like a barbecue
This is for me to stay? It's more like yeah yeah
That's all yours
We'll go well with those eggs actually
You have it with your like you know your fry up
Your breakfast stuff
Legit no use you on love
Okay, that's good thank you
It tastes good
Do you want to let Jake try some
some of that ones so he doesn't have to open his one yeah yeah my appointment to her
majesty the queen yeah purveyors of hindsight the queen is dead sorry yeah can you um yeah
I'll pour some in your spoon she fucking died oh yeah yeah try some of that I think you'll
like that a bit more I was struggling
Harry Harry Potter sauce what do you think of that I like that I like that
actually would be good with eggs. Yeah. Very sweet. Thank you for these wonderful weird gifts.
Sure yeah. And the last is like the National Treasure, I guess. Sweeties, Percy Pigs.
What the fes? These ones are vegan. Oh, thank you.
Oh, there's a special version of it. The Deep old ones aren't. So...
Oh my god. This is so cool. Made with real fruit juice. Made of real pigs.
This is so odd.
I'm not gonna go to camera too. Sorry, you guys are gonna have to zoom in. Okay?
Everyone knows Persis. I'm more of a calling the cat's bill ago myself. Zoom in.
Percy Pig. It looks nice. Okay. Percy pigs are actually so legit. Nice. I'm diving in. Oh, these normal British snacks.
They're so cute.
Yeah. Thank you.
These are good.
They're yummy.
They're such strange little...
It tastes like fruit loops.
Little beings.
Oh yeah.
I knew someone was gonna comment about that.
Pig flavor candy, yeah.
They're good.
Yeah, they're good, right?
You want?
I'll have a percy.
I feel bad I should have gotten you guys some American food.
Oh, no, it's okay.
Before we get back to it.
Ketshap flavored Cheetos.
Nice.
And I don't know these are you here now.
Read the stuff.
What's all this French? This like French everywhere over here. I know, right?
Boo. Yeah, this looks good. Cool. So Canadians love ketchup flavored things like...
Yeah, that's it. It's yummy.
The regular chip brand will go, oh, let's do a ketchup flavor kit for Canadians because they'll buy it those idiots and then I buy them.
Because they're delicious. They're actually, I love them.
Canadians love
Oh shit
That's actually really good
Oh that's fucking awful
It doesn't really taste like ketchup that much
It just tastes like
Oh yeah that is good
Canadian like ketchup flavoring for chips
Is like more tangy than like a ketchup
You would get out of the portals
That's really good
Yeah
Let's just stop the podcast and just chill
And watch your movies
Eat some chips
Oh my god
Oh man
Alright.
You want any more, go for it.
I'm gonna wrap it up.
I'm good.
Hell yeah.
I did see someone mention jammy dodgers.
I did think about that, but I brought them last time, I think.
And then there's some paper towel next to you, Jake, if you want.
Thank you.
There's some on the other side of you.
There's two rolls of paper towel.
That's how fucking prepared I am.
I have things set up.
All right.
Um, time to talk about.
Time to talk about another movie.
No, I think we're good.
I'm hyped to Jake's thoughts on this.
All right.
Are we going to do South Park?
Yes.
Yes.
We're doing it in quality order, starting with the worst going to best.
So, yes.
Okay.
Got much sense.
I did think about mini-cheddars too, but I only had so much space in my bag.
Sure.
All right, everybody.
We're talking about South Park.
bigger longer and uncut
Alex and I had both seen this before
Many it's when we were younger. Yeah, and we were both shocked to learn in the previous episode that Jake
Doesn't isn't that familiar with South Park and so we're both kind of dying to know what you thought of the movie
Because there's a conversation not just about the movie itself, but a bit of
the time period it came out because it very much is like a capsule time capsule for yeah what was
happening like politically and culturally but has also come back to being relevant again recently in a
weird way yeah in a really weird way in multiple weird ways yeah i was wondering why in god's name would
people pick this i was like why what is the relevance and then i watched and i went oh okay i see why
people pick this uh-huh but yeah i guess i'll just jump into it i i
I have never watched South Park in my life.
I had seen it.
It obviously had been on TV or whatever,
but, you know, I grew up in a pretty conservative,
conservative household.
So we didn't, that was never something that was enjoyed on the television.
So it was just never something I watched.
I always thought it was really annoying and looked ugly as shit.
So I was just like, wow.
Not true.
I was like, this is, so I never actually sat down and watched it.
And then by the time I'd come of an age where,
I could enjoy and appreciate it.
I just never got around too watching South Park.
But yeah, South Park is back in the cultural relevance again.
Yeah.
With Trace Stone, Matt Parker.
The other way around.
Trey Parker, Matt Stone.
Matt Stone, Tray Parker.
Yeah, doing their current South Park stuff, getting their bag, as the kids like to say.
Getting their nut.
Yeah, they're making a bag on these new episodes.
But, yeah, I started watching this.
I went in blind.
and I was enjoying it.
I was having a pretty good time.
And then I was like, wait a second.
This clearly must have come out
during the George Bush administration,
probably like 2005 or something.
I look in his 1999.
And then shortly after that,
Bill Clinton appears in the movie.
And I was like, oh my God.
So I liked a lot of it.
It was like the musical stuff was very fun.
I actually was fond of the characters.
It was still very ugly
and not fun to look at.
but I also that's like the point
yeah
the humor
it felt very modern
I don't know
I was so surprised that
this was 1999
because it did not feel that way
at all
until we got to the Saddam Hussein jokes
right
and then it just kind of felt like
then it kind of like
lost its fun I guess
like halfway through
I got kind of tired and like
all right I get it
exhausting a little exhausting
I'm like, all right, let's get to the end.
Let's wrap this up.
And yeah, but that's pretty much it.
I did enjoy it, though, overall.
Yeah.
Yeah, South Park has changed a lot over time.
Oh, yeah.
And I agree with you entirely.
Like, it's an ugly-ass show.
And it's less ugly now, even just like in the cable version,
I guess Paramount Plus version.
It's kind of funny that, like,
you know the film came out I think between season three or four or whatever in three
four it was around that time they're on what 20 something now like I don't know like 27 or something
yeah they're like way up there it's wild they've been around this long um and it's funny because I
you know we watched the 4K uh HDR yes version and it did not help it did not help with how ugly it was
it might have made it look more ugly honestly yeah you guys watch you here
We watched it on the stream like you can you can live you can go watch Alex and I watching it at YMS watchalongs
Wow YouTube.com slash plugging another channel YMS are watchalongs you know what I'm fucking allowed to do that
I just got to say this is like the biggest TV I've ever seen that's why I keep staring I'm like seeing myself in a higher resolution than I've ever seen myself
Yeah this is a nice TV so you
You guys watched this movie on this television.
Yeah.
And you both have seen it.
Did it get better or worse in your estimation?
It's not the same, I think.
Yeah.
I remembered it even better than I thought.
Okay.
Because I'd always watch the songs.
Everyone, like, the playground was talking about these songs and repeating and quoting it constantly.
So it was the perfect age.
Yeah.
Like when this was coming out, everyone was just repeating it.
And that's like, yeah, exactly.
It's part of what the film is about.
It's like censorship.
and their frustrations, I guess, as creators.
That's been an ongoing theme with South Park.
Such an interesting show to me
how its reputation does proceed it
in kind of a negative way, I feel like.
Oh?
Yeah, because, like, my parents
found it weird and didn't want me watching it when I was young,
which made me just want to check it out more.
It's always been, like, pretty edgy.
They've got some weird takes, I guess, over the years,
but they've done it so long.
but when the writing is on point and they're firing on all cylinders it's genuinely really clever and hilarious
and I think the film holds up really well adding that whole musical element the show's always had like songs
here and there but committing to the musical bit I think this every single song is great like I think
it's an amazing musical but it's hard too um so earwormy and it's so short for me I know you're
struggling to get through at a certain point.
But it just flies by for me.
I don't know how much of that is like the nostalgia
of when it came out
was just such a good lightning rod for me
and where I was.
But I don't know.
I felt like it held up
because I haven't seen this in probably decades,
like 15 years maybe.
Wow.
Yeah.
I'd never seen it in that clarity.
Like the 4K or the,
not that you really need to.
No.
It's an odd thing to exist in 4K.
Yeah, it's self-deprecating, as it always has been.
Yeah.
The animation is crappy and that's part of the charm.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, the crappy animation, they literally say it at the beginning of the film, you know,
the Terrence and Philip just being the stand in for South Park and the crude humor and destroying children.
Terrence and Philip was my favorite part.
That was like I was legit laughing every time they were on stream.
Canadian humor.
It's funny because it's one of those things where it is like, you know, obviously,
I don't even think it was like trying to satirize anything.
I think they were just like, yeah, this is just what Canadians watch.
But I don't think it was based on anything.
But then, you know, sometime after that, like within the same decade,
Kenny versus Spenny was on television.
They literally have like the fart challenge episodes and stuff.
I just think I think about those things in parallel.
Like, oh, okay, yeah.
I mean, like, this is one of the better Canadian shows,
and it literally is just that.
So at the time, anyway.
And I would also, since we're talking about this,
I would like to offer my perspective of the Canadian.
No, we're good.
Thank you.
All right.
No, okay.
Yeah, we need to hear that.
Well, there's a lot of people that might say this film is racist against Canadians, right?
but I think
part of the
joke is that there's
an absurdity towards
America being racist
against Canadians because Canadians
like the I don't know like the whole
the global stereotype
is like politeness
where you say like words weird right
sure Canada has its own fucking
skeletons and controversies
and history of terrible terrible things
and etc etc etc but you know
on the global
scale, you know, we're seeing as like,
ah, little fucking country that
doesn't exist maybe. Who
cares, you know? So, like, the
idea of there
being, like, a war against
Canada where it's being blamed for
corrupting children, et cetera,
was absurd at the time, and now it's
kind of happening a little, like with the new
instrument. And so it's like,
something that was at one point
seen as just like so ridiculous
that that was the whole reason why you could make
the plot and have it not be racist.
Right. But now it's actually like, oh, okay, there's some small portion of the U.S. population that's growing that's actually being weaponized against Canada. And that's kind of odd.
What would it be the correct term? Because it's not racist towards Canada. Like, what would it be country? Nationphobic? Like, what is that?
How would that be?
xenophobic? Beaverphobic.
But yeah, I mean, like, it culturally, I think that there might be, you know, a good amount of other countries, who knows, you know, that like you wouldn't be able to satirize and like poke fun at in that way.
But Canadians, we were like, when the time when this movie came out, Canadians are basically just happy to be remembered anywhere.
So like to see that Canada was a part of the plot in the movie, people were like, yes.
awesome like no one was like mad or offended about it
I really love you remembered we exist
I really love all the Canadians having a different animation style
yeah yeah yeah that's consistent with like the show too
every Canadian character
yeah yeah what is it about
Colorado why Colorado
what's going on in Colorado
you tell me you know you got mountains
It's just rural, right?
It's like a nice
I jab at it in the lyrics of some of those songs
The quiet mountain town
I guess as a small town in Colorado
Yeah
Not Denver
I guess so
I mean to me though
My perception of Colorado
As someone who grew up in Phoenix Arizona
Was like oh that liberal
That liberal
Den of sin
You know like I mean
I guess Denver has like a very
Denver's kind of treated like LA
at least in terms of politically
they talk about it in the same way they talk about Portland
or Seattle or Denver is like one of the huge
furry hubs
Oh wow
In the States
Yeah so
Top five furry cities
Denver
But I guess yeah I guess South Park is just kind of a representation
Of the small American town
That could be anywhere
Yeah it could have been anywhere
But I think they just liked the aesthetic
of the mountains and the
You know just small town
kind of vibes. You could get a small town
vibe in a lot of different places, but
I like that about South Park
because it does bring a unique feel to it that it's not
being like, oh yeah, small town in
Texas or Alabama or, you know?
I think people often forget that, you know,
pretty much everywhere, but in the U.S. especially,
there's no blue states or red states.
There's blue cities and red rural
areas in every state. 100%.
Right? So it's like, yeah, any small town
in California is also
you know a small like a small town in Texas sure with differences go anywhere outside of
Seattle and in Washington yeah you know yeah like Austin Texas is more liberal than
rural California yeah right absolutely oh people are saying Matt Stone Trey Parker from
Colorado that's okay yeah that makes sense yeah um I want to ask your opinions about
Saddam Hussein a great guy yeah fans of him we love him I guess yeah he was my best
What was he up to in 1999?
Like, why was he such a...
I feel like he's treated like such a punchline that would be like very...
I'm not defending Saddam Hussein.
I'm just saying...
I know what it sounds like.
I'm just saying like, why him over any other Gulf War?
Okay, yeah, that...
Yeah, exactly.
And he was like the big bad guy.
In a way, you look back on it now, though, with Saddam Hussein.
It's just so...
I feel so, like, quaint almost.
I know.
Oh, Saddam Hussein, I remember.
And it's like, that's before they, he was, he's dead.
That's before he planned 9-11.
That's right.
That's before he personally did 9-11, yeah.
Yeah.
It just feels like it is kind of like playing into the whole, like, I don't know, we need to go into Iraq and invade Iraq.
Like, I don't know.
I'd like to see what South Park did after 9-11.
Like, what change?
Because it does feel like, this felt like a very post-9-11 type of, and here we are.
talking about 9-11.
It's not like a very post-9-11 type of movie, but then I saw that it was 1999.
So it feels like they were on some shit.
They were on their 9-11 shit, like, into the culture of, like, what was to come.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, I think that it's both true and not true at the same time, I guess, in terms of, like,
there being, obviously, like, a dictator guy, but, like, in the grand scheme of, like, global
politics was he like the most important thing to be satirizing i don't know if it was coming at it from
like a place of like urgency in terms of including that character i think he was already a character in
the show before the movie right was he not or was he just for the movie oh yeah like was
like was i can't remember now because they they would do that style of taking real photos of people
and parody no yeah i think i think they were just like okay who's a who's a who's a
a guy that we can have
you know being an abusive
relationship with Satan. I don't
know if it was saying too much
about like that's the vibe
policy. Right. Yeah.
Or like they just wanted to humiliate.
I'm really interested in their
politics in a way and like and how
they channeled that through this show. Especially
now it feels like people are treating
South Park as like the resistance and
like they're mocking Trump so openly
and just with such vitriol and
anger that it's like it feels so different from
what it used to be, which watching this, it does feel like they're just like, fuck everyone.
You know, like, fuck everything.
We don't give a fuck.
Like, we're going to make fun of whatever we want.
Screw the people trying to censor us, the people trying to shame us for wanting to do or say whatever, you know.
Well, that's why they are turning on Trump now because their anti-censorship philosophy and principles are like the most important, right?
So during the Clinton administration, right, culturally, South Park, like Marilyn Manson, M&M, like, all the big things were being like, fuck you, you can't do, you can't tell me what I can say.
And like they were, this is when they were like legislating like the explicit content warning labels on CDs, right?
All of this legislation was being passed.
And there was a serious conversation about whether or not people would be able to.
able to have freedom of speech and freedom of expression that, you know, seemed like a
right that was potentially being trampled on in some way if things continued going down that
path. So there was a big countercultural backlash, which wound up, you know, making those
artists that I just mentioned very popular. And then you go into like the Bush administration
and the media that was on like television at the time, like drawn together, wonder shows.
And like, it's all so fucking edgy. And like all these comedians, every single,
one of them where it's like, oops, there's
clips of me doing blackface in the past.
They're all from that era, because that
was the countercultural backlash of like,
you can't tell me what to say. And then everything
was just the edgiest shit ever.
And so, yeah, it's kind of an
interesting... It goes back and
forth so much. It's so strange.
Yeah. Do you
feel like we're moving towards more
of the kind of like edgy?
I feel like we probably are. I think
like 2016 through
2020 was a lot more of
like, you know, self-censorship and a lot more like being careful about what you say.
Yeah.
Because I mean, like, pre-internet is also like a very important thing to remember here too.
Because like, we didn't have that direct feedback of like.
Everyone's mad at you.
Yeah.
And like what people consider to be like socially acceptable or like what, you know, if you're
kind of detached from certain groups of people, then you might not have like a good
understanding of like, you know, is it okay to say the N-word if I'm,
quoting someone else or singing a rap lyric.
Like that was a conversation, right?
And now it's like pretty like, okay, yeah,
people have made themselves clear that that's not acceptable.
And so it's like more clear now, right?
But at the time, like, you know, people didn't know.
It's like we've come full circle where it's like there was a time where everyone's like,
the internet is permanent.
Everything you say can be documented and held against you.
Forever.
Now we've moved on to a point where it's like, that's an obvious thing where people are like,
yeah, internet's permanent, so fuck it, you know.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know. I feel like it's going in that direction.
But yeah, South Park used to be like more goofy and silly than political.
And over time, I think it's kind of like this feeding into itself sort of like self-fulfilling way.
Because people were taking South Park seriously politically, South Park started taking themselves more seriously politically.
They started thinking about like the narratives and angles in ways where like, oh no, yeah, this is like a current events show.
basically not every episode for sure but like which bit them a few times with the original
trump Hillary election they were so convinced that Trump was gonna use they had a whole like story
arc planned out yeah a last second had to completely redesign it they had to redo the episode
within like 48 hours or something that's crazy yeah oh my god because Matt stone and
like Tray Parker does like almost every single voice it's just the two guys like writing and
they're doing the animating too like most of the animating so they're like the entire
show is like just pretty small team for like a major show and that's why they're able to be doing
current events whereas other animated shows especially ones that were all like in this generation like
you know king of the hill simpsons or even like family guy eventually all of those they're
storyboarded and they have animatics that are made in the u.s by you know the people that create the show
but then they ship them off to korea and get them all of the in-betweens filled in
And so the entire, like, lining, the bulk of the animation is done overseas and then sent back.
So any current events that's attempted by those other shows winds up coming like a year later.
Right.
Whereas South Park is able to, oh, we're creating an episode in a week so they can actually talk about shit that's actually happening right now.
I have way more respect now for these guys.
That's crazy.
I didn't realize, like, I mean, I...
It's weird.
I know that like a lot of work goes into this.
And another thing that's fascinating is that they're still made.
making it personally, right?
They're still writing and doing all these things.
Yeah, they're very heavily on.
Seth MacFarlane doesn't do shit on family guy.
Shows that to the booth.
Does a few voices and pieces out.
I wonder what keeps them doing it, you know, and why they haven't.
I mean, I know.
A billion dollars.
Well, that's true.
A billion dollars.
I guess that helps.
Literally, like a billion dollars every fucking 10 years.
But I mean, they could be making way more money, too, if they were like, okay,
these guys are going to be in charge now and making it and we're going to go do some other
shit, you know, or do a spin-off series or whatever.
Would people even care?
I don't know.
That's a good question.
I think that would be very difficult to replicate from like Hollywood people.
I did to like get what South Park's doing.
That's, there's such a unique voice.
Even what, you know, even though they're not like.
Yeah.
So, so much of it, I'm either like kind of just seeing what their take is, but not like fully
agreeing or just more like, you know, more like, you know.
I don't take them as gospel.
But that's another thing to consider too, is like because of them being so like finger on the pulse of society and commenting on things in an entertaining,
memeable, satirical way that gets people having conversations, even if the conversations aren't completely genuine for everybody and they're just the memes.
People are talking about these things, right?
and because of that,
their
their kind of like
role in responsibility
in political discussions
is a lot bigger
than it probably should be
because at the end of the day
you know, they're two guys,
they're artists, you know, we love them.
But like,
I've always gotten this impression
for like decades
that like if they say
a perspective that it kind of
shifts the culture in a way
because people, you know,
whether we like to believe this or not,
there's a lot of people that are just kind of like waiting for permission
or like waiting for some sort of like acceptable belief.
And they don't really, a lot of people don't hold strong positions in either
directions necessarily.
So if they kind of see that like a major thing that is considered respectable,
memeable, people love the characters or whatever,
if they're kind of seeing that that a perspective is being given by that,
then that shifts a lot of people's perspectives.
Well, they, they, I keep seeing them in the news because they'll cover something.
Like, didn't recently, they did an episode where they were like criticizing Israel and that was like,
I haven't seen the past few lines.
From what I understand it was like not even, it wasn't like a very harsh like critique.
It was just kind of like very surface level or whatever.
But even that, people were like, whoa, things are changing if people are, if South Park's doing it.
It was through the character of Kyle's mom.
Oh, it plays a big role in the movie too.
Okay, yeah, yeah.
Mum character.
Yeah, that is part of what's so interesting.
It's gone on for so long.
I know.
But they're able to make a Trump parody episode that kind of is an ode to the film
with, like, the music being the same for Saddam, the voice being the same for Saddam.
No, yeah, that's what they went out of doing.
I guess Jake, you haven't seen it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's how they're parody.
Trump, yeah.
Yeah.
So that was weird.
Just, yeah, and just how.
So it's so relevant.
this film
26 years later
is quite wild to me
it's very odd
it's a very weird relic
but I found that so interesting
it did kind of feel like man
things have gotten a lot worse
like it did make me kind of sad
that's 90% of the conversations
Alex and I've been having this whole trip
I was like, she fucking sucks man
things are dumb
everybody's an idiot
people are bad
yeah
what the heck governments
What are you doing?
I mean, it's hard because it does kind of feel like at the, also watching it like part of, part of me was kind of like, okay, we're complaining about like something like censorship or we're complaining about the MPA or something where in my mind I'm just like, who cares anymore now?
Get everything so much worse in a million different ways.
Nobody could have predicted though.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
But I mean, at the end of it, it was like, this is fun.
I get why people love this.
I get why kids would be obsessed with watching it.
And I also get why it's annoying.
Yeah.
I think, yeah, the biggest reason why I never, like, feel like rewatching it,
even though, you know, in the experience itself, I'm laughing.
It's fun.
There's good jokes.
But I think the biggest reason why I don't, like,
personally connect with it in a way where I'm like, yes, I want to go back to it.
Is just because of it's being so ugly.
I'm just like not a fan of the look of it.
But, you know, even though that's the point, sure.
But like I just, it doesn't speak to me.
They didn't even do the meme of having like slightly shadow of the animated characters, you know.
Yeah, I mean, even now, like I've seen the movie once, but in my head, it's stuck in my head now just thinking about it's the da da da da da uncle fucker.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's very catchy.
Like they're very good.
They did the Book of Mormon, right?
Yeah, did you see Book of March?
I've never seen it.
Oh, it's so good.
Well, if you're ever in New York in the future,
or they do tours other places, gotta see it.
Yeah, I would highly recommend.
I've seen it twice.
Nice.
Nice.
Yeah, I should see that.
Yeah.
Please prioritize it.
I think it's genuinely awesome.
It's like one of the best.
Like, unironically, one of the best.
No, but you're talking about, you're curious about the post-9-11 stuff.
Is Team America obviously?
I've not seen Tina McHuber.
Yeah.
Yeah, that one's kind of fun.
I would, from memory, I would say that that's a better film than the South Park movie.
However, as like a musical, the South Park movie's way better.
Songs are catchy and also not just catchy, but like really well orchestrated and composed and like structured.
And, you know, when you get to like the end, they're combining all of the songs together in that.
Yeah, and then like, tomorrow night, baby, baby, baby.
Yeah, I love that Trey Parker is just so, like, musically gifted and, and clearly has a passion for the, like, genre of, like, classical kind of musical, theater musicals where he understands, he understands what pieces go together and how to, how to fit everything together.
And using it for these like juvenile songs that like,
Oh, it's so cool.
Expertly put together.
And very clever too.
Like Book of Mormon's fucking awesome.
I love Book of them.
I want them to make like a film, you know.
Yeah,
however long I want to do it on Broadway, go for it.
But like, I would love to have something I can watch like at home.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Did you guys watch this?
Sorry, different question.
Did you guys see the smashing machine?
Yes.
No, yeah.
I didn't have a chance.
okay I was an
div
I'm finding the response very interesting though
to that movie
it's not making any money
yeah no one's going to see it
it's fine
it's going his fault
I saw the rock
it was pretty mid
I know
yeah I'm still curious to see it
yeah I think it's worth seeing
definitely it's kind of underwhelming
it's like oh
I've heard it's just really similar
to a documentary
that exists about the same dude
right
it looks and feels like a documentary
Yeah.
Okay.
Like the Lion King 2019.
That's true.
Just like that.
Anything else we want to say about this film?
Or did we...
I didn't even look at my notes.
Did you pick up on a bunch of the random references and like...
Some of the more dated stuff.
You know Brian Boytano?
Yeah, Brian Boitano.
Getting his whole last song dedicated to.
I was kind of like...
I didn't really understand that part.
I mean, I like when they blow up the Baldwin's house, but I was also like, why?
What does that have to do with anything?
I really didn't get that.
Some fun lines from the film.
They say they're seeing a foreign film from Canada.
I find that to be like a funny commentary on Americans and their experience with film and foreign films especially.
Newly appointed Secretary of Offense.
I liked that way.
That was fun.
another
kind of like
you know
thing of its time
that's important
to mention
about this film
is that like
they couldn't say
any of these swear words
on TV
and so that was like
this film was like
the first time
you actually heard
any of these characters
saying fuck or whatever
right right
and so that's why
they were doing it so much
and that's why
there's the whole plot line
about you know
the swear words
and shocking
electric shock or whatever
yeah
But he was considered, yeah, like a big deal at the time, and this was just their excuse to like, oh yeah, we're making this uncensored. It's a film, right?
I have a question. The character in the hoodie, does he like, was he in the show prior to this? And does he, is he gone from the show?
No, so the running gag of that character for the first six seasons at least was that he would die every episode.
So he keeps coming back and keeps dying in different ways. And they go, oh my God, you killed Kenny. You bastard.
They say that line every time.
Oh.
And so that's, yeah, that's kind of funny that you asked that question because, yeah,
you wouldn't know if you weren't familiar with it.
Yeah, there are a few things like that, like the whole, well, did you think of the Mr.
hat?
I was just like, okay.
It must just kind of come out of nowhere if you've never seen the show before.
Yeah, yeah, I was like, all right.
Sure.
So, is Kenny dead then for the rest of the series?
No, no, I think in season six, they go, he really died and then they bring him back.
Yeah, there were points where he wasn't in it for a while.
Yeah, I think he was gone for a season as like, okay, yeah, he's really dead now.
And then they brought him back, but they stopped doing the killing him every episode thing
because it's just like, how many times can you do that?
Like, it's not, it's the same joke every time.
It's not like a new thing.
Yeah, because it's gone on so long.
If they made a self-bart movie now, there'd probably be other characters that would get more of a focus,
like a Randy or Bucters who are like fan favorites now.
Hell yeah.
And I was actually thinking, like, if there was something that,
justified making a second movie.
It would be this and not The Simpsons.
But at the same time, South Park has made a bunch of essentially three episodes and we're calling it a movie on Paramount Plus or whatever.
Yeah, yeah.
I've seen a couple of those.
Just stitch them together.
But at the same time, you know, throwing some in theaters and having like the whole musical element and like more showy of production.
I wouldn't mind that for another South Park thing.
Simpsons movie at this point seems like a big waste of everyone's time.
Where's the family guy movie?
I'm surprised they have a straight to DVD, Stewie Griffin Untold Story.
Oh, excuse me.
That's the one.
Sorry.
I didn't catch that at TIFF.
Yeah.
Well, I did.
I watched Family Guy growing up.
But I did not watch South Park.
I don't know why Family Guy was okay, but South Park, no, that's so much.
I don't know.
So this got nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, Blame Canada.
Oh, wow.
So Matt Stone and Trey Parker were.
at the Oscars and they hate the Oscars and they hate Hollywood and that's why like every
opportunity they're just like if they mention a celebrity it's they're going to like kill
them or like just embarrass them like they hate celebrity in celebrity cultures they
hate everything Hollywood in LA oh yeah your drink and they went to the Oscars and they
exploited their dress policy by
Um, both of them dressing up in like fancy women's dresses and their argument was like,
okay, well, yeah, if women are allowed to wear this weekend too.
And it's not like their envy or anything.
It's not like they're trans.
Like they were just kind of like taking the piss out of people at the Oscars.
Right.
Um, at a point where like, you know, dressing up as, uh, the other gender would be seen as
like, ha ha, funny or whatever.
It's like they kind of wanted to get kicked out, but they wanted to like, like have the
argument if they did.
And they were.
too, right?
Yes, they were also
tripping balls on acid.
And refuse to acknowledge it.
Whenever they were asked,
they would just say,
it's a wonderful night.
Oh, it's such a good night.
It's an amazing.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a really good clip.
Yeah, yeah.
Watch that on YouTube.
They talk about it.
Very funny.
Very funny.
Move your mic
a little bit closer
and a little bit to the left.
Oh, sorry.
I think we should...
I think we should take this on the road.
I think we should take this
podcast live on the road.
We could do it.
tour every city we could do it no be gone for a year yeah yeah um cool what would we
give it a movie out of ten you know there's no much i dislike about it because it's just so
quick so brief yeah it looks like south park that is obviously the biggest criticism to do with it
but i think what it achieves with that music that's cool thank you i think this would be like a
solid full stuff.
8 out of 10.
It just flew by.
8 hour 10?
Yeah.
Nice.
Adam?
You know,
I think probably a 7.
I think a 7's fine.
There's like,
I enjoy the experience in terms of like the laughs and
just admiring what went into it.
But at the same time,
it's ugly as fuck.
And I just like, I don't want to revisit it ever.
It's like way uglier than the current show
It just yeah
Yeah I'm between six and seven for me
Sure
I'll just I'll do low seven low seven yeah
Low seven is very fair
Just because I do think it's good and it's interesting
But it just wasn't like my
It wasn't my jam it just wasn't recently that
You know yeah I'm glad you enjoyed it still
Yeah I was sure if you're going to hate it to most
Yeah honestly yeah
Now people are spamming six seven
fucking oh god
what are they
generation is this generation beta doing this
meme is it alpha
who's doing this meme what's six seven again
I don't know but it's the worst generation
ever you know
if we're like if the first
named generation got to call themselves the greatest
generation we should be able to call
someone the worst
generation like we should be able to
just like all right we're going to
bully this one we're already doing
that with Generation Beta.
Like nobody wants to be called
Generation Beta. Excuse me.
Oh, you know what's funny?
You can't to decide the name
for your own fucking generation.
The greatest generation did, these fucking idiots.
My son barely avoided
becoming Generation Beta
by like 25 days
or something. It was like, it was getting
close.
But he's the last of Gen Alpha.
I'm so happy your son's in Alpha.
I know, me too.
Barely,
barely avoided being a
beta.
Damn.
So we're doing super chats at the end, right?
Yeah, we're reading them at the end.
Okay.
Lots of nice super chats.
Yeah, we'll have a bunch.
Buy on.
We aren't ignoring you.
Promise.
Yeah, we'll get them.
Mask of light.
The real keynote to talk about.
The keynoteist of kinos, holy shit.
But I'm going to pee one more time, okay?
Right?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
I'll pee off the day.
Your movie sucks.
More like,
P. Get that P out.
I'll change the channel name.
All right.
How's everyone doing? How is chat doing?
You guys having fun?
You guys chilling. What are you up to today?
Watching this, I heard.
Yeah, maybe. Maybe they're watching this.
Yeah, Smashing Machine was great.
Yeah, you're really selling me on it.
If you like bad movies.
yeah hopefully it's not a Cohen situation where them splitting up is not working out well the thing with the Cohen's is that they're like you have two Ethan Cohen movies that feel pretty indicative of like oh I get how that's coming from him I haven't seen those movies but from what I've read and heard about those movies yeah and then Joel Cohen doing um Macbeth like Shakespeare it's kind of hard to tell who is who is who necessarily I guess there might be a they need each other yeah in situation Joel
Cohen has a movie coming out with
what's his name?
Fuck, that guy.
I think it's called Jack of Spades.
It's like a period piece.
Looking forward to that.
But yeah, they need to come back together.
That's my opinion.
The Safty brothers, that's a different thing.
I don't know what's going on there.
Some Nazi Supreme is getting good reviews in the moment.
I'm looking forward to Marty Supreme.
I'm curious.
For sure.
Oh, show.
Yeah.
B-O-B.
But it is so interesting that
like Benny Safdi's
choice, his first
solo directorial choice was to
adapt a documentary
very faithfully with the rock.
And the movie in itself is kind of about
failure and accepting failure.
It felt very...
That's a funny thing to consider, actually.
It felt very meta in a sense,
how like, not to spoil the movie or anything,
but like the catharsis is very,
similar to what I feel like the dynamic between like him and maybe Josh Safty with Josh
Safty premiering his movie. Oh yeah. On the weekend that the smashing machine is
bombing or at least very close to it. Oh yeah no that's kind of funny.
Because yeah Benny Beny's the one who's been like getting all the acting roles
because he I mean I don't know if Josh is even trying to. I don't think so.
But yeah like yeah no he is and I you haven't seen the
curse yet, have you? No. Curse is fucking
incredible. I know. I know. I don't
watch that. But yeah, even the curse, like,
I don't know if that was considered like a hit or any.
Like, it has a strong fan base, but like,
didn't get any, I mean, NOMS
for some reason. Like, I mean, it should have.
Honestly, yeah. That's crazy, yeah. Yeah. Like,
that's insane. I don't know why.
I know. I don't think the Safeties
have been recognized like in the Oscars
ever, despite like ever. Uncut Gems didn't get any
no. No, no noms for Uncut Jems.
completely ignored.
That's crazy.
I know, right?
Even before that point,
they should have been recognized.
For many, many different reasons.
But yeah,
Marty Supreme is like the one that,
like, they're going to have to not ignore.
I mean, people are saying Marty Supreme
is even more intense than uncut gems.
And that might just be hyperbole,
but even getting compared to uncut gems
and being in the similar vein is like got me hyped.
I love uncut.
gems so um yeah it's crazy because the smashing machine is like the opposite of uncut gems it is
just like vibes and very chill like for for a movie about the ufc it's very like very chill and
yeah like i i i liked it but not you know it was it was always like that oh it's just not
good yeah i liked it but it was just like how was the ralke there uh he's fine if he gets a nom it won't be a real
one like right it's not it wouldn't be because of his acting yeah it's kind of the perfect role for him
because it's and it is kind of hard to tell if it's like he's a really good actor and bringing it for
this role or if it's like he's channeling his persona and like breaking it down because like the
character he's playing is like this very nice outward person with a lot of like guarded anger and
sadness underneath and it is kind of like okay here's the rock persona let's look under it a little bit
but also like hiding it for most of the movie you know like there's not a lot of
breakdown moments or scenes like that it's like a story about just like a nice guy who just
doesn't really like reveal his struggles outwardly that much i don't know yeah um strange one
yeah yeah uh i'm gonna yeah you go get out of here uh let us know in the chat if at any point
the microphone audio desyncs from the webcam video,
because sometimes over long streams that has happened,
depending on the setup, depending on the day,
and the fix is very easy.
I just have to know that it's happening.
So if things appear to still be in sync, then we're good.
How was the addiction stuff in Smashing Machine?
So I thought that was interesting in premise anyway,
the parallels with stoward abuse.
I mean, yeah, I didn't see anything like improperly handled about it.
It was an interesting element.
I didn't know anything about the guy before going into it.
Right, right.
I didn't see the documentary.
But yeah, maybe my opinion of the movie would change if I did see the documentary if it is that similar.
Yeah, that's kind of the biopic risk.
You're making films about real people.
Your issue is that there's ads playing, interrupting the stream.
get fucking YouTube premium.
Jesus.
I have it set to medium.
I have it set to medium.
They're automatic and they're not so frequent that we're bad people.
Okay.
Bad people.
Oh, the echo overlapping with the, oh, yeah.
No, if I turn, oh, no, okay, yeah.
I can turn off the desktop audio and then the echo won't matter.
Thank you, Gassan Jabari.
Does becoming a member make the stream ad free like Twitch?
I wish that YouTube would implement that, but right now, um, that means nothing and I don't know why.
I wish that there was a way.
I wish they gave me the option to make that possible.
That's YouTube, so I have no way of doing that.
I don't know.
Medium means that your mind and plays an ad when you least want it.
Well, I don't know.
I don't fucking know.
What do you want us to do?
Not monetize anything?
Guys.
Come on guys.
Alex flew all the way here.
Yeah.
And it was funny actually watching.
I don't really like watching movies on planes, right?
I like watching how other people watch movies on planes.
Same.
It's always the most bizarre stuff.
The selection.
Yeah, there was someone over here watched the entire Matrix trilogy.
Someone in front of me who, the way they were watching films was they'd go on it.
They'd scroll to about a third in, watch it for a minute.
minute, scroll another half an hour, watch it for a minute, and just do that for like 20 films.
Yeah. Yeah. So weird.
Oh yeah. And then you realized that was you. They did that.
All right. One more film. Should I have the food show up for like right after we're done talking
about the next movie? Is that sure? Whenever. And then we can do food slash Q and
or whatever?
Perfect.
Sounds good.
All right, bionicle
mask of life.
That's what everyone's waiting for.
Takua's in chat.
Ticua!
Ticua!
Oh, I realized we didn't do our normal quotes.
Shit, yeah.
When we started, I was going to do Tukua.
That was going to be mine too.
Yeah.
You can get it right now.
Ticua!
Takua!
Takua!
Nice.
He doesn't do that.
Yeah, the first Lego movie.
That was me, though.
Okay.
That was unrelated.
Okay.
There's just a noise that I make.
There is some crazy-ass lore in this film.
I know, right?
It's so complex.
It's like so fucking boring.
What?
Yeah.
You needed them to do law research first.
I feel like I did.
It starts with like a Lord of the Rings prologue.
Yeah, you said it.
And like the names, like they have to like,
someone who wrote this movie clearly really cared about the lore.
They were like, I worked really hard.
on all the names and all the more.
We need to make sure people understand
what Jala means when he says
he needs a fucking
a hawk toa.
Like, it's just so incomprehensible.
And I don't know about you guys,
but this was such a slog to get through.
It was like looking at white noise.
It felt like white noise playing.
It just like, it wasn't even that bad or anything.
It was just like, why am I watching this?
I liked the charm.
of it being like an ancient animation and like every voice actor sounded like they were in Sonic.
Oh yeah.
And like, you know, it's, it's not just like that someone cared enough about the lore and that's
why they repeated the names so often.
There's a much more cynical reason.
And that's because this was this came out at a time where everyone was trying to compete with
Pokemon, right?
Pokemon mastered how to brainwash children into buying things.
because in Pokemon
they all
the only thing
they said was their own name
it's not just their names
were said a lot
the characters were only able
to say their own name
right
and the slogan was got to catch them all
and like the theme song is like
I want to be the very best
and like how do I do that
I got to fucking catch them all
and like like the pokey rap
and like all of the
it's like training
it's training for a brain
yeah right
and it's entertainment
and I still look back at Pokemon and I'm like, hell yeah.
But at the same time, I also think,
how did they allow this to exist?
Because this seems manipulative.
So every other company, once Pokemon was the huge success that it was,
like literally like just brainwashing.
Every other company trying to market towards children was like,
okay, well, we got to try to do something similar.
How do we do that?
And so the blueprints were made and other companies tried to follow them
as best as they could. So now you just get a lot of
to cure! And so people
just say their fucking names like
the character's names are going to be said
800 times because it's all about
getting the kid to buy the fucking toy.
Yeah, it's an Irish toy you want.
Exactly. It's evil.
I want Tohahou.
I want Capaka.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's such a pre-Lego movie
artifact.
Like, you know if they made this movie now,
it would be referencing like
gosh, aren't we weird? Aren't we silly?
Isn't it ironic that we look like weird robots?
Like, what is a...
Okay, guys, what is a bionicle?
Alex? Tell me.
Like, I always thought bionicles were the most boring fucking things when I was a kid.
I liked all the other Legos.
I'm like, bionicles are the most, like, boy, like, directed.
Like, we need to make Legos, but even more for boys.
Like, the boys that just want to have, like, cool guys with, like, metal exoskeletons
and all the characters look fucking the same.
Like, okay, can you tell me?
They're like robot dudes, and there's six colors of them.
So you've got to collect them all, kind of like Animal-Sang, Pokemon.
Yeah.
You have to collect them or else you're a baby.
Yeah.
I will say that the way they tweaked the designs for this film universe,
it's quite interesting.
They gave them like eight packs.
They gave them kind of like fleshy, organic stuff going on,
whatever that means.
So I don't know about that.
as far as like...
You're not showing me on.
I like how the Lego movie looks, you know,
where it's actual, like, bricks and stuff like that.
They could have done something like that.
Oh, yeah, no.
Why do they have this purple...
Yeah, and like...
The plastic of the mask is more like jowls.
So, like, if they're falling, for example,
the jowls, like, shake and it's...
I don't know.
There's a lot of nostalgia here for me.
It was...
Unlike you, I thought it was the coolest thing, you know?
Just like I was the person.
perfect age for the South Park stuff.
Yeah. Bionicle as well. It was it was radical. You know, there's also surfing in the movie
skiing. Lava surfing. Rad. Yeah. The people clearly agree with you. They're roasting me for
hating Bionicles. Exactly right. People are quoting me out of context. They all look the same. I don't
mean they all they all they to me they look okay I'm not even going to get into that. Yeah.
It's hard to discern who's speaking. I sound racist. I mean no I did I did get confused about
different characters existing and I was like oh wait,
one's not there anymore.
I thought that was the same guy.
No,
doesn't matter.
Yeah.
But the most egregious,
the most egregious thing the film does is kind of just ape,
Lord of the Rings.
You mentioned the intro.
Yeah.
But the whole film is like,
so the mask of light is just the ring,
the golden ring,
the small characters like the hobbits,
like the whole poisoning thing,
like the sword and stabbing Frodo and.
It's literally seen in Frodo, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Even to the music, like, there's some, the, like, ditty in the school.
Oh, yeah.
They're doing the Hobbit theme, basically.
Like, the whole film.
There's a weird thing, yeah.
And it's, as far as, like, an animation, as far as the animation goes, bizarre.
Like, the timing of everything.
The way, like, shots will just linger for three, four seconds.
Too long.
Awkward.
Yeah.
Super awkward.
Kind of, like, badly storyboarded.
Did you first watch this when you did search for the worst?
no I watched this like when it came out
no way
yeah I was a huge
I was obsessed with it
oh so you were really like truly
yeah yeah I was like
Jesus fixated on it you know
like I'd write the script
I'd like a bunch of paper
I wrote the script yeah
I might as well have been written by like a
nine year old or whatever I would have been
that's incredible
yeah so I remember all that
wow and I do
when it starts and it has that old school
like PS1 PS2
style like sound effects
and the Lego brakes come in. I'll say, oh my god,
you're whipping me back in time right now.
Oh my God. Have you seen the other ones?
I'm sure. I think I've seen
three of them.
But they didn't continue the story
of Takua and whatnot.
Tequila!
Yeah, that's what you want.
It's Jaller and Takua.
It was Jala or? It's Jala, but
it's spelled Jallar. It's not a hard
R. It's like it's soft. Yeah, they had
to change the name or something because there was
there was a bionical controversy.
And I think 2001, where the Maori people in New Zealand, I think, had a lawsuit towards Lego.
That's real?
Yeah, it's real.
Holy shit.
Got Guardian article up here from 23 years ago, which is funny.
Yeah, because of all the Polynesian names that they're bringing up.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
So that's kind of a interesting part, especially with like the most American voices ever, like saying all these names.
Oh, yeah.
There's a funny clash going.
Wow. So it wasn't a guy
writing a fantasy sci-fi.
He was just like, I'm just going to steal.
Yeah, I'm just going to take a little bit of that, sprinkling of that.
That's crazy.
So that is like a funny detail to movie.
It's like an hour long. It's like barely feature.
It is very short. Ten minutes.
Yeah, the two official recommendations combined were 10 minutes shorter than one battle after another.
True.
No, yeah, literally.
It was like 2 hour 30 versus 240, right?
Something like that.
That's great.
Yeah.
It definitely helped with the, you know,
because I think I watched South Park while I was carrying my kid.
And then last night, as I wasn't able to watch Bionicle until we got here,
and it's in the hotel room.
And I'm like trying to stay awake.
And I'm like, what is happening?
I was really picturing you watching this.
It was kind of a funny image to me.
Yeah.
I know.
I couldn't even watch it with my kid.
because he doesn't have screen time yet.
So that would be an interesting first film.
I don't think I'd, I would report myself, shall I like,
yeah, if I did that.
Concerned about what human being you're creating.
Yeah.
It doesn't do the best job of laying the foundations down.
No.
Explaining what the mcuffins actually are.
It's lore heavy from the start.
Oh, yeah, it's just kids love exposition, right?
But Bionicle is one of those franchises, right, where it has really intense fans.
It's one of those you can find a four hour long law breakdown thing.
And when I did the search for the worst on it, there were people that were upset with me for not knowing the law, like, well enough.
It's that type of thing.
That's awesome.
You're not really going to pick up on the law or any of that kind of stuff from this film.
It's more, yeah, what toy look coolest to you?
What do you want to buy after watching it, you know?
Do this still make bionicles?
No, not for a while now
Whoa
No, long gone
It's a relic
They'll bring them back
That usually happens
After we talk about something on the podcast
It just becomes popular again
Like oh hey
Bringing it back
Yeah
Set and stage
I could see them doing a bionic
I mean wasn't there like a bionical
Cameo in one of the Lego movies
No
Yeah
Yeah
There was a really good joke
In the first Ligo movie
That references them
Yeah for sure
Who was the
like the brainchild of like who created bionicle and was like we need these weird guys in the world
Jeffrey Epstein some Danish dude probably because I know William Shakespeare wrote this film
and directed it is Shakespearean right yeah um wasn't there someone on like the crew
yeah it's directed in part by Terry Shakespeare yeah yes yeah and produced by a Shakespeare and written by
five people.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, it was
I forgot about
Ninja Go.
Yeah, there was a Njago movie.
Yeah, okay. Didn't that bomb?
It bombed hard, yeah.
What happened? I mean, I feel like the Lego movie,
the second one didn't do that great.
It was just like a weird phenomenon that everyone had to watch the Lego movie.
Because it was different.
Because it was getting great reviews.
It was new.
That's why I watched it.
then yeah like if they do Barbie too i don't think that's going to make a ton of money or no it'll
make a ton of money but i don't think it'll be like a phenomenon like Barbie was well they need to
make Oppenheimer too no seriously that'd be funny it just just to to have the success of Barbie
because like if they're making a sequel to Barbie whether or not Oppenheimer two exists right
they're going to try and release it at the same time as another like diametrically opposed tonally
different movie, right?
Because they understand
that that was part of the success of the first one.
So it's going to be funny watching them scramble
to try and make another meme out of it.
Remember they were trying to do that with like Saw and Paw Patrol?
Yeah.
They're like, who's Saw Patrol, everybody?
Fuck off.
Nobody's going to watch that shit.
Lionsgate, go home.
You're drunk.
Yeah, I mean, I guess
I feel like we're dancing around the topic
of what this film is actually about
and what it's addressing.
and like the poll.
I was getting to it.
You gotta be less predictable.
You gotta let me get to it.
Fucking whatever.
When did this come out?
2003?
2003?
So it was fresh, yeah.
Fresh in the minds of the people who made this
would be 9-11, you know?
I think that
Tukua
in many ways
is the
represents, in a lot of ways,
the spirit of New York City.
Sure.
Now you say that, yeah.
I mean, there are some beautiful moments.
I think when Jala, Jala?
Yeah.
When Jala sacrifices himself for the cause.
That was an emotional moment.
That was an emotional highlight.
I cry every time.
Well, it moved me in some ways.
And then they fucking brought him back.
Like they brought back Gandalf in the two towns.
Yes.
Yeah, another Lord Wings thing.
Yeah, like when they combine after playing,
bionical quidditch
I guess
Lecrosse
yeah
the light in the dark man
combined
and then freedom
for everybody
I like when they bring back
dead characters
it raises the stakes
no one's ever really
keeps the tension high
when you find out
you can just bring back
people from the dead
because that's why
they hang on to the mask
in defense of this film
I will say
it is kind of nice
having a totally sincere
movie like this.
Like there's no joking, there's no winking at the audience.
It is like...
It's very invested in its lore and its story
and like, in a way,
it's like kind of treating the kids
who watching this very maturely, you know?
Because that's why it's epic.
Yeah.
Because it's not for babies anymore.
Not like Legos.
This is cool.
This is like, you're like at least 13 years old
if you like fucking...
Yeah, a little bit of here.
In spirit.
at least.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Especially with the Copa
voice acting,
that was awesome.
Who?
The white one
with the,
uh...
Yeah.
The cool one.
Yeah, the edgy,
epic one.
Mm-hmm.
I would, yeah,
I think that this is not for Normies.
I think this is like,
no.
This is for the cool kids.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
The Lego movies for Normies,
bernacle movies,
when you're in deep,
in the deep end.
Do you know what I liked as a kid?
like Bakugan.
Battle brawlers.
Yeah, those little balls.
I forgot that there's existing.
I forgot about them until you just said that's...
I had like a bunch of that when they roll onto like metal cards and there's magnets and they open up, they pop open.
Yeah, yeah.
Those are cool.
Huh.
I'd have to see what that is again.
That, you sang those syllables just like...
Bakugan.
I haven't heard that since...
It's like what sounds like Pokemon, Bakugan.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Pokemon.
Oh, yeah, I remember these.
Bayblades.
Yep.
Yeah, those.
I didn't even know how to play the game.
I just like how they're little, little guys.
Would that count as a dibby?
Yes.
Sure, yeah, why not?
Yeah.
Okay, cool.
You'll play Pugs.
What?
Too young to understand.
Back of my day, I was a Pog champ.
Oh, okay.
No, pogs were a real thing.
Yeah.
There were coins.
Porgs?
Basically.
Is that still a thing, though?
Like, there was a certain energy to the 90s 2000s, that like collect-a-thon thing with, like, the tap, the bits.
Your Bakugan battle brawlers, your bay blades.
I guess you just collect like Fortnite skins now, right?
I mean.
You're Scooby-Doo and Fortnite now.
You don't need no Baku-Gong.
Yeah, I guess the...
To purchase things digitally is a lot easier.
And so if it gets to someone's wallet that much more quickly,
then that would be where it goes.
Well, meme coins in Labubu, yeah.
Oh, LeBoooooooo.
Did you guys play Pop Tropica?
No, I don't know what that is.
No, what is this?
Wow, you guys are so old.
I'm the youngest here.
So I'm connected with the youth and all the cool references.
Well, you're connected with like a real baby now.
Yeah.
Not a hell.
No, do it.
Pop Tropica, yeah.
I knew they'd come out in the chat.
Yeah, you'll have to let us know
like what, like, things are like cool for babies and stuff.
He really loves the color red.
Oh shit, red's hot right now.
Red's in right now.
Red's in, okay.
He likes throwing food.
Okay, throwing food.
That's always in.
Can you ask your baby what six, seven means?
I'm never going to do that.
But it's fun because he is just now
learning, like, how to, like, process being told no and, like, not to do something.
Oh, shit.
It's amazing.
Where it's like, it's like a superpower I've acquired, where it's like he'll try to crawl
somewhere he's not supposed to go or open a cabin and I'll just be like, no, you're not
supposed to do that.
And he just like, and he's just like, okay?
It's like, all right, if you insist.
And he listens to me like half the time.
It's amazing.
There was a, the green one.
was like Irish coded yeah I'd never picked that up but when you commented that yeah
there was subtletes it's a very bad accent terrible accent terrible yeah you would yeah you
have to really try to make the connections that it is Irish I guess he's green I guess
because he's green yeah yeah where everyone else gets to be American I guess yeah I'd like
I wasn't that bored by it because the voice acting was so funny the whole time
and like the weird
awkwardness of the animation
you know what was coming
yeah I wasn't I wasn't bored
I was amused
it put me to sleep
that's awesome
I wish I had more to say
I mean I do feel like you guys need to
dive into more of the lore and why
oh I don't know I didn't
fucking do bionicles when I was younger
Alex is the bionicle fan
I'm I was just as new to this as you
I'd seen some of it like
as commercials on television, but that's about it.
Right, right.
Do you remember the tubs you'd buy them in?
There's like weird cylinders.
Oh, I remember those.
Yeah, my brother liked bionicles.
Yeah.
How much does a bionicle, like, in a preserved in a box, go for today?
I feel like they probably a good market for research.
Yeah, there'll be a bunch of millennials that will, like, want to revisit their childhoods, I guess.
It would pay a lot too much.
Yeah, we pretty much talked about every single note that I,
wrote down because there wasn't that much. I did
I did write more visual
variety than the South Park movie
right yeah
and lots of familiar sound effects
and um
for reference
the Pixar movie this year was finding Mimo
yeah different echelons
of budgets obviously
this is probably very small budget so I mean
I do feel like it could have looked worse
I mean it kind of look like a video game
cutscene for a lot of it
the water looked funny or the
article effects are funny.
Why does this have such a bad reputation?
Does it?
I mean, I feel like it's very lowly rated.
I mean, I don't know.
It doesn't feel like it's egregiously bad.
It was just very boring.
I don't know.
Bionicle law people,
I don't even know what it's about, really.
Lord of the Rings.
It's an epic adventure.
Yeah, it's Lord of the Rings.
It's just like the most generic fantasy
story. Yeah.
But it wasn't bad in a way where it's like not
appropriate for its target
audience of baby biological fans.
Yeah. No, they're not babies.
Sorry, yeah.
Don't you. Bionicles are proof
that you're not a baby. Yeah.
You have to have a bionicle
to prove you're not a baby. Yeah.
I remember bringing it up in the Treasure Planet
discussion where they cross
similar wires in my head. You know, the radical
surfboard stuff, the edgy
kind of characters.
Yeah, I just it's a whole vibe the weird logo.
Yes, it's funny.
Thank you Slath for joining as a member.
I don't think those are going to show up in the super chat.
So we can answer that one then.
Where is Nadia going to be a guest at some point in the future is my that's my guess?
Whenever.
Yeah.
I mean, we just see someone to watch the boy while we do that.
I mean, she's here.
She came with me.
on this trip so she's just not you know she's hanging out doing her own thing right now but
yeah that'd be great yeah it'll happen she doesn't hate you guys yet not yet there's
there's plenty of time for that yeah um all right yeah uh bionical mask of light i i don't know
but it speaks for itself there's three movies who cares who cares we're doing three movies yeah um
I don't know how to rate it.
Five.
Star.
Out of...
Five.
Is that your rating?
That's my right.
I don't think I can do that.
Of course it is.
No.
Because I don't enjoy it that much.
You are having a whale of a time.
A whale.
Yeah.
A bionicle of a time.
Oh, okay.
Three out of ten.
Three out of ten.
Sorry.
What do I do?
What do I do about this?
How do I rate it?
Yeah.
out ten yeah and Jake what's your rating three three I don't know what to do
here it insists upon itself you're like probably stunned by it that's the power of
the mask of light yeah it's not a ten it's not a one it's not any of the numbers
in between how do you ironically rate a bad movie but it's not so enjoyable that
it's like a Neil Breen right right right and it's not I don't I'm gonna
four. I'm gonna go four. Okay, trust my gut. I'm the hater. Four stars.
Out of ten stars. Nice. Yeah. That's fair. Listen to these haters. Because you know, it is like kind of a weird, sincere thing. And like, if we're judging it by what it's trying to be, which is an ad for toys. Yeah. Kids to buy toys.
on a shoe string budget yeah like you know there's it's not trying to be it's not it's not
trying to be uh Satan tango
me higher than materialists yes I agree oh it sucked I'm
material I finally watched it it sucked wait I didn't realize you watched it yeah it's
awful I'll have to talk to you about that later I fucking hated materialist
no I hit it so it was there on the plane but I didn't watch it was genuinely bad
you should watch it.
It was shocking that
yeah, people really like, a lot of people
liked it, but it was like, I thought
it was like baffling. So bizarre.
Oh, it was terrible. Yeah.
But like baffling, how?
The script was somehow
worse than
Dakota Johnson, who was
basically just doing Madam Webb
performance. Oh, no.
But she was somehow
still not as bad as the script.
It was like trying to be a rom-com, but also like trying to be very serious, like drama.
And it like, it didn't manage the tone whatsoever.
It was very long.
It felt very long.
And like narratively, it just lost steam.
It didn't have any like good conflict or drive or energy.
It was just like these characters talking about basic shit.
That's just like trying to make it poetic and it's not really bringing it.
And yeah, the acting just didn't sell it.
Chris Hemsworth is like.
Evans.
Chris Evans plays like a down-on-his-luck actor in New York City.
I'm like a poor actor and Pedro Pascal is like the rich guy.
And like the whole movie's like talking about like why is she attracted to Chris Evans,
but she should be with Pedro Pascal who is the real guy.
The choices are so hard.
It's like this is every rom-com ever that's been done.
It just felt like rom-coms can be amazing.
I love rom-coms.
It's just like you can do it in a fun.
an interesting way. This just felt like
trying to deconstruct the rom-com
in a way that was just really...
Yeah, it was just kind of shallow and boring.
It felt really weirdly insincere.
Yeah. Like it felt like it was being
something that was trying to be something else.
Which is sad because like past lives
same director was obviously like a very
personal real experience. Yeah.
And this just felt like it was just trying to be
something else.
Some scenes felt like they were like fake
scenes within another movie. Like a fake
movie in another movie? Like literally.
Yeah, it was some some some some some scenes were like so weird and awkward in ways that like it was not trying to be in it
And he got like really dark halfway through. It was like a weird tonal whiplash. Oh yeah, that part made no sense
Like nothing to do with the rest of the story. Yeah, yeah, it's made a heaps of money
Yeah, it made money. Yeah, 20 million bucks made its money back that's 100 million gross so I've never seen past life
Yeah, crested. All right, I guess we can do some questions questions
Yes.
Quests.
Oops.
Questions.
And we got food on the way.
It'll show up in like 30 minutes or so, but we'll just do like a little questions and
then food break and then more questions and then, you know, that's the whole string.
It really is the same color as my shirt.
Uh-huh.
That's wild.
It's crazy.
Yes.
All right.
So we got a bunch of super chats.
And then we also have some with the TTS and we're gonna figure out the best way to do this
So I guess we'll do let's see how many are from the TTS. I'll be right back
Okay, sure well we won't do the questions without you
Well, this one's just for Alex. Which one? Tell Alex he peaked
when he made him only SpongeBob.
Yeah.
I mean, you know wrong.
I'm only, I'm only.
I like it's hard being great.
Well, they got Rumpel's toe skin now.
Oh, hell yeah.
Rumple Pump.
Rumple Pimple Pump.
Yeah.
Um, okay, yeah, there's one that I see.
No, that one's got Jake and a two, and then let's see.
Yeah, we'll just wait for Jake to finish his phone call and then I'll get the rest of these.
Load it up here.
Oh my goodness, so many.
So many. Thank you, everybody, for all of your super chats.
I'm scrolling through these.
All right, well, I guess, oops.
and where's the
Didi-di-di
Hello
We're just about to
start doing
some questions and everything
Awesome
Awesome
Freaking sweet
Freaking epic dude
So
We'll do
We'll alternate between
Super Chat ones and text to speech
donation ones
So the link is in the chat for text
speech donations if you want to hear a very special voice say it.
Levi Turner, thank you so much.
Which one's the real Adam?
Well, that'll be answered in Synec.
Key Part 6.
Yeah.
Jornbis, poop farts love you boys.
Thank you so much.
Nice.
Procrastinator's man-haring thing.
Pretty great. Thank you so much.
Small.
I have hair.
Insane Incorporated.
Thoughts on who framed
Roger Rabbit, you might appreciate it, Adam, if not a bit annoyed.
You see Roger Rabbit?
Yeah, a while ago, and I remember enjoying it, but not like soying over it sort of thing.
I've never seen it.
I dig it.
Yeah, there's some really cool animation stuff.
Zachary Marsh just saw the movie Good Boy, and there was a featurette after the film that
mentioned the Kushlav effect.
What are your favorite uses of the effect?
Now, without even looking it up, I think I know what you're talking about.
Do you know what the Kushlav effect is?
The Kulishav effect.
Kulashav, thank you.
So I believe, and I could be wrong, but my guess is that it's basically if you show something and then someone's reaction to it and cut between in a film, your brain fills in the gaps of interpretation.
And so if a dog is doing like a blank expression, but then you show like, oh, a burning house, your brain automatically thinks, oh, the dog is like so sad looking at the burning house.
then you could show the exact same footage of like, I don't know, a toy bone or something,
and then be like, ooh, the dog's happy.
Is that what it is?
That's exactly.
Yeah, living in the blanks.
All right.
Coolish of.
Yeah, cool a shove.
Favorite uses of it?
I mean, Hitchcock does it all the time.
Every movie does it really.
Yeah, literally.
Everything.
I mean, it's essential to like film grammar, but I love, I feel like Brian De Palma,
especially is kind of like one of those
filmmakers who's constantly
like playing on the
just like the grammar of cinema and like
Hitchcock and playing on that kind of
like voyeuristic
thing that kind of can
come from the Kulashav effect.
Yeah. Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah. Carasalo obviously.
I like
yeah. Everything.
Yeah.
Yeah. There's ways to
I like
kind of ironic uses of it where it's clear that like the reaction shot isn't coming from that at all.
So like in like weirdly edited media like Tim and Eric or like some adult swim stuff like sometimes the editing will be a part of the joke.
And then the understanding that it's not something that was filmed for that purpose can be fun too.
Right, right.
And that's a part of, I'm about to say a really scary word, media literacy.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my God.
It's not a real thing.
Sorry.
All right.
Thank you, Zachary.
Michael, Michael.
Any favorites, directors that you think work better in medium budgets, rather, than with a big, huge budget.
Example, Aronovsky Noah versus wrestler.
High SMT, C, small man-carrying thing?
Yeah.
Yeah, my son.
Okay, that's an interesting question
I have no idea
What do you think about this?
I think there are directors
I think there's directors who have failed
Making big budget movies
But like David Lynch comes to mind
With Do
But that also seems like
Because he wasn't given the correct freedom
That he wanted
Like if he had a bigger budget
I think he'd still make great movies
Shama line
But it's just like
it hurts if you have more money you typically have more people above you telling you what to do so
yeah depends on the artist and like how they approach some people are good at managing that and are good
at sneaking through the system and you know are just like better at managing people and I think like
someone like david lynch yeah maybe not so much yeah i don't know yeah i don't know about that one
shaman's a big example yeah give him too much money he doesn't
know what the fuck did you.
My Owen opinion.
Question for Jake.
Favorite Howard Hanks film.
Howard Hanks?
Hawks.
I can't read.
Do you guys like Howard Hawks?
No.
Well, I don't know who there.
Howard Hawks made a classic filmmaker who was like a peer of John Ford.
You know he made.
Rio Bravo, Red River, His Girl Friday,
bringing up baby, classic, classic genre of films of,
of so many.
I've heard of some of those,
but I haven't seen them.
Personally,
I love bringing up baby.
It's one of my favorite movies ever.
It's me and...
Well, if that's your life now.
Yeah, it is.
But it's me and Nadia's
one of our favorite movies ever.
But I really, really,
really love Red River.
And, fuck,
the only angels have wings.
I really love lots of Howard Haworthy.
And his Girl Friday.
So, God, that's really hard question.
But I'll say Bring It Up, Baby.
All right.
Aseon.
clings did it
I would love to hear you discuss
some Terrence Malick films
Have you seen any
Tree of Life would be very interesting discussion
Congrats for 300
Well thank you for the
Preemptive
Congratulations for episode 300
Have you guys done any Terrence Malick
On the podcast
Badlands
Haven't you have done bad lands
Didn't do bad lands
I haven't seen Badlands
Tree of Life comes up a lot
I don't think we have done
Oh Malik
no yeah we should
oh my god
I should see bad lands
and I should see
thin red line I know
yeah those are both great
I saw thin red line
a year or two ago
yeah
I thought it was really great
yeah
have you seen Days of Heaven
I'm not
I can't remember if I have or not
Adam no I don't think I have
Adam you would love Days of Heaven
it's a beautiful movie
yeah I like I like Malik
for sure
I love Malik
I think his later movies
get overhated
kind of a little bit
I really like song to song
That's one of his later movies.
Have you guys?
I might have seen that.
There's kind of like this era of him where they're more like expressive and less narrative.
Yeah.
Right.
That's 2017.
Yeah.
I feel like I might have seen that, but I don't know.
And Tree of Life is like, yeah, incredible.
I love Tree of Life.
Sean Penn.
Sean Penn.
Zachary Marsh, 824 or Neon.
Who do you prefer?
I'm a neon boy.
Oh, typical.
Yeah, typical man.
Yeah.
I don't know, I'm probably at 824 for now.
I'm not like a...
I have no opinion.
Fight!
It's not like football teams.
What are you talking about?
They both release good movies.
They both release bad movies.
Yeah, but Neon keeps winning all the palm doors.
Pondor.
Oh, right.
Fucking loser.
That's exactly what a fucking loser would say.
Oh, it doesn't matter.
I feel it doesn't matter.
Yeah, because you're losing.
A24 is becoming two mainstream.
So now all the, all the cinefiles are,
have to go to neon for being the cool line and always having being better the whole time yeah they're
both good five palm doors in a row that is pretty notes wow yeah and how how many doors fit into a palm
there you're talking about uh five okay trigon film sardonicast helped me through my depression thank
you so much that is very nice uh michael michael mc t fav and worst ban
and controversial books.
I think books should be banned if they're controversial.
I think that people should be reading less.
It's bad for you.
Yes.
I have no idea.
I mean,
I don't really seek out controversial or banned books,
but I feel like the dumbest books get banned
just because it's like Animal Farm, 1984.
I mean, random bullshit gets banned,
so it's kind of like hard to say.
But I really like the book.
animal farm.
It's a good book.
Animal farm.
Is that really being banned?
Yeah.
I mean...
Depends on the state.
Or being put on lists.
If a school district
bans it, then it kind of like
goes onto the banned books list and it's like,
oh, it's either like this book
has the most graphic...
It's either like William S. Burroughs Naked Lunch
or some children's book that has a
gay character in it.
Yeah, right, right.
That's the range of banned books.
Wow, we got a lot of super chats
Hell yeah
Alright, let's go
Let's speed through these
Yeah, yeah
I gotta go back to where we left off
Okay
Hey guys, I've been following since
Episode 1, when I was 15
I am now a grown ass man
Whoa
An ass man
Cheers on 200
Thank you so much Toasty Jackson
Thank you
You're a boy 20 bucks
Holy shit
Thanks you are a boy
Sorry Jake
But you won't be an official host
until you watch and review the Madagascar.
Fair.
I mean, that's always, you guys can always play that card if you really want to.
Then do I have to review it a second time?
Yeah.
That's the downside, yeah.
Slath, can you take a selfie Jake like you promised last episode of you and the TV turned off in and back on?
Of you and your favorite celebrities, Alex from I-H-E and YMS from Adam?
You know what?
I'll take a selfie with you guys.
later. We're going out for dinner.
Hell yeah. Selfie. Thanks,
Sloth. Mr. Mateo, happy 200th episode
boys. You guys are always the highlight of my week when the new
episodes dropped, so thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for watching
and listening. Mattio, thank you so much for being here. Yeah, amazing.
Broderick Kay, been listening to the podcast since it started, but kind of fell off when Ralph
left and came back when Jake became a host. Thanks for all the episodes and
making me aware of some great movies.
Nice. That's nice.
Thank you, Broderick.
Oh, and Adam, if your voice gets tired, we can always switch.
I appreciate it. Thank you.
If all three of you are trapped in an inescapable arena, who wins the death match?
One weapon of choice in prep time is allowed, officially power-scaling Sardonicast.
Okay.
Weapon of choice.
Gun?
Okay.
Yeah, seems unfair.
with bullets in it
a rifle
I
I
I kind of feel like Alex would kill us
I don't know
you're like I'd kill you with kindness
I know you would try that
but then I think Alex would just
like slaughter you so brutally
I feel like there's a darkness in there
that would just is waiting to pouts
but you wouldn't do it because I was so kind
and you do
no he'd still do it
I like how just you
were on screen
just
the fight of you
yeah
um
fascinating question
fascinating
well thank you
we always want to know
who wins in a fight
me
mm-hmm
um
shall I read the next one
sure
thank you
when the fuck
are we getting
the men in black
international episode
justice for Pawnee
thank you yes
I don't know what that means
is that a
a meme for you
yeah that's that's one for me
all right thanks
to know pony
okay
Okay.
My Little Pony?
Yeah, he's just as famous and well-known as MLP.
What is it?
2019 film Men in Black International.
Camel Injiani played a little creature called Pornie.
Oh, is it a dibby?
It is a dibby.
He's like a pawn off a chessboard, hence the name, porny.
Sony's trying to make everyone forget, but I'm not letting them forget.
Wow.
Don't.
Hold them to the fire.
You've got to keep the memory alive of porny.
Fuck you, Sammy.
To Pearlhead F.S.
Congrats on the 200th episode.
You guys would have films of the year.
But what about albums of the year?
Mine is Black Magnet and Deaf Tones.
Album of the year?
What new albums have I listened to this year?
Here's some stickers.
There's some of mine and some of Alex's.
Thank you.
Wow, so many Timms.
Why'd you give me so many?
I don't know.
I have a bunch.
I just have a bunch of pictures now.
Wait, wait, yeah, keep holding them up.
I'll make it Zoom down a while.
Yay.
I'm just going to put these all over my fridge.
Hell yeah.
And my family's just going to ask, who is that?
Who's that man?
He looks important.
Yeah.
He's an important man.
You know, everybody needs stickers.
They're important.
That's what I say.
Yeah.
Yeah, album of the year.
I
I don't know if I've really been listening to many new albums this year
this year that I've been listening to
yeah I don't really listen to any new stuff
I mean like my
last year was Brad
and I loved it
I know I did
I did actually like no I actually
I've seen it live twice
oh fuck
you go to the expensive concerts
yeah what came out
to
There's like a new bright eyesy AP that I haven't listened to yet that came out this year
I have been listening to the tron sound track actually oh yeah I've been listening to it without the
context of the movie you don't need it yeah I feel it's a bad story going yeah yeah is there
anything I've been listening to from 2025 I can't say I liked the whole dochi album but I
like some songs off of it for sure yeah yeah I might have to do a rain check on this
question because I don't know unless we're counting soundtracks then what movie came out with a great
soundtrack that I was listening to this year.
28 years is a really good one.
Yeah.
I mean there's good songs and stuff.
I don't know.
I got to figure it out.
Oh yeah, I might like the Gaga record.
Well, yeah, her single was pretty good.
Oh, yeah, I've heard a few of those.
Adam, just your guess, you think we'll do like another hour probably?
That would be a guess, yeah.
Like probably an hour and a half if I were to guess.
Just there's a lot of super chats.
We'll try to be as quick as possible.
Is that fine?
That's fine.
Yeah, cool.
All right.
Thanks to Pearlhead.
And then Jormbus, my favorite episodes are when Alex is the angriest.
Nice.
Yeah.
All right.
Oscar Meeker.
Congrats on 200.
Thank you so much for the five euros.
Thank you.
Which is approximately 100 Canadian dollars.
Wow.
Thank you.
Bernadino Novaiis.
Love you guys.
Would you guys consider having the Oscar expert on the pod,
especially since the award season is around the corner?
We're not like trying to do guests at the moment,
but we're thinking about it.
So I don't know if we can commit for anything like this year.
Maybe.
Maybe.
We're just going to kind of play things by year.
My arm is fucked.
I just did like a colonoscopy.
I'm trying to get back into like all my health and, you know,
like trying to get my channel off the ground again and like get back into like big projects.
Like I just like, I don't want to coordinate that right now.
But we've been talking about some guests for the future and keeping things chill for now.
So I'm going to say probably not the Oscar expert before the next Oscars,
but it's not out of the realm of public.
possibilities for the future. I'm not too familiar
with them, honestly.
Mr. Mateo, out of all the Sardinicus episodes, which episode
would you choose as the Normie masterpiece
of the podcast? Madagascar.
The Madagascar one? Maybe Lord of the Rings.
Lord of the Rings for sure.
Sure.
Wiki
Now with Jake,
are you still going to keep your deaths in the podcast
if they happen while you are recording?
I don't understand.
I think that's something we referenced earlier.
That must have been something we referenced earlier.
Oh, yeah, if I died
during the recording
unit?
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Do you have strong feelings about that
what you'd want to happen?
About our deaths?
Yeah, like,
I'm kind of like...
I want you all to live long.
If you have the recording of me dying, like, live,
you know what, just use it for what it's worth,
you know?
If one of us dies on the podcast,
if any of us dies, let's agree
we're going to make content out of that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, sound. Yeah, yeah.
If I do, like, the Halo death zone.
The clip.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Who?
Yeah.
Okay.
Michael, Michael,
thoughts on glitched studios in there.
You missed one.
Ian Kim says,
congrats on 200.
Jake and Alex.
Thoughts on Vancouver.
Sometimes I accidentally skip them.
Yeah,
cool city.
Thank you.
I like the vibe here.
Vancouver is fine.
It is fine.
I like it.
It's a sky train.
It's really cool.
Yes.
It's very nice.
Everyone's very friendly.
Wasn't, yes.
I like it.
Yeah.
Michael, Michael,
thoughts on glitches studios in their shows.
as well as other animated web shows,
you think it's the right direction
for self-funding against cancellations.
I mean, I'm all about fucking self-made indie thing
without studio red tape and bullshit,
so something can be successful.
It's made by a group of people
that are passionate about what they do.
I love it.
What about you guys?
Yeah, I like the idea.
I'm not familiar with their outfit.
Yeah.
Glitch Studios, I think, is responsible
for amazing digital circus.
Oh, right.
Yeah, yeah.
Right?
Right?
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah, you're right.
Murder drones.
And now some new thing that I haven't seen yet.
Bernardino Novice.
Jake, when you finally get around to watch Parasite, please do tell on the pod of your opinion.
I absolutely will.
I want to go through Bongchun Ho's whole filmography.
Oh, have you seen none?
Do a ranking video.
I've seen Mickey 17.
Oh.
You should watch memories of murder.
I know.
I want to go through all this films.
Yeah, so hopefully soon I can get around.
Yeah.
Curious what you'd think of like snowpiercer, honestly.
You're still at the hotel?
Aw, dawn.
Calvin Brown Animation, Sardon fan since 2018,
working on my first feature now with a couple production companies animated horror film.
Thank you for your inspiration.
Love to hear it.
Love to hear when people make things.
Yeah.
Need more of it.
Yeah, taking the plunge
It's more than most people do
So
Cyrus
Jabari
Congrats on the great work you've done to getting 200
I've been wanted to ask
What do you feel is the best
Or your favorite student film
And why
Student film
I don't think I have any
Favorite student film or not
I mean I feel like
Most student films you see are kind of
Amateurish because that's the point
making films when you're a student you're still learning so I don't I don't know are
there any famous student films I guess erase her head is a student film if you all right
okay that's okay yeah easy uh con bomb but deal bombadil do you guys get into
get much into analog horror lofi horror i.e. the backrooms mandela catalog etc
I know y'all know skinnamarink I love skinnamaric I mean yeah I
don't do the whole like creepy pasta
CP
thing like I
you know I recently watched
Exit 8
at Tiff which is like a great interpretation
of like a horror game thing
yeah
that was that that was
I like the concept of the back rooms
we'll have to see how that movie comes together
have you seen any Kane pixels
backroom stuff
I don't know what that is
yeah yeah I've seen a couple of the bids from
he's doing like his own A24
Oh yeah, that's the person. Okay, cool. All right, we're gonna do some of the TTS ones.
Let's hear. Do you believe in ghosts? A dumb, in You're the Flash video, you said going faster than the speed of light to travel. Nand time doesn't make sense, but that is how it works in physics MCT. You dodged a bullet, not finished.
finishing wheel of time.
E, you watch regular show.
Oh, maybe one day.
Okay, thank you.
Thank you so much.
And you're a boy, we listen to that one
while Jake you were in the bathroom.
Okay.
Still waiting on you guys to review Thor,
love, and thunder.
I can only imagine the riveting discussion
you will have about such an amazing and hilarious movie.
I don't want to.
I only watch five-hour screaming compilations as my form of entertainment.
Well, thank you, Noah.
That's gonna happen someday.
Screaming goats, funny.
We're teasing it too much.
Also, thank you, Dynasty Googs, whatever that means.
The other one.
What?
Oh, yeah, no, I know what this is talking about.
Yeah.
Alex as the only Asian American on the podcast.
What are your thoughts on the British?
I don't like him.
Got a big problem with the British.
Okay.
All right, we got one from Eli.
When life gives me lemons, I killed my whole family.
Thank you, Eli.
It's a good one.
Thank you.
This is a good one.
Taku.
Oh, we'll try that again.
We'll be of the interview.
Taku.
It's still not getting the A sounds.
Taku.
Taku.
Taku.
Oh.
Just let's get.
Takua.
Hey!
Yeah, we got it.
All right, we needed a few times.
Thank you, Mr. Mateo.
All right, we got another one from Eli here.
Go-go-go-Gaga, look at me.
And baby, ha-huh, ura-wawa-kick.
Okay, and then that was from Eli, and then we got one from Doug Suggs here.
Rumpel pump.
Rumpo pimples pump.
Tiny stump.
Welcome to the rump
Pimple pump
Tiny stinky stump
Smells like rubbish dump
Rumple makes you jump
No need to sin
Put it in the bin
Now what's my name
Rumpel stilt skin
Oh yeah
That was really long
Fire
Thank you Doug Suggs
Whoever yeah if you wrote that
You deserve a
That's original Grammy and an Oscar
It should be in a film
also.
All right, you're a boy.
We got one.
Jake, all Sardinicast
listeners are relying on you
to recommend the peak.
That is the diary of a wimpy
kid trilogy. It's a book,
too. It's totally up
your alley.
I love how it's like, why are they
targeting me to recommend this?
Because they know we wouldn't.
They think there's a hope. There's a chance.
Okay. Well, I got to show solidarity
with my guys here and say,
No.
All right, thank you, your boy.
Thank you.
And then we got one from Worden here.
Alex, who is more epic, Takua or Pawnee?
Pony.
Don't even ask.
Okay.
Yeah.
And then, uh...
Alex?
Have you seen the video titled Day in the Life of a True Brexit Geezer?
It's very cool.
Also, Jake, you are epic.
Thank you.
Taku-u-ya.
All right, thank you, son.
I might.
I've seen that.
It kind of rings a bell.
There's a lot of Brexit geese there.
All right.
And then we got one from Sloth here.
You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers.
You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions.
The only true wisdom is in knowing nothing.
Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.
Thank you, Sloth.
Nice.
Thank you so much.
So if anybody else wants it read on you.
TTS you got to go to the link in the description we cannot do it with the superchats
not my fault that's just how it works and if I haven't explained this before it is an
ethical AI voice because I paid the voice actor of Cool Cat Jason Johnson I paid him
for studio time with the understanding that it would be turned into an AI voice
so it is an ethical use of AI voice yes just yeah
Do you want me to read some?
Yeah.
Okay.
Please, thank you.
Where are we on?
This one.
Okay.
My own opinion says,
Colonel Lockjaw gave me general Jack D.
Ripper vibes from Dr. Strangelove.
I agree.
I think Stephen Spielberg said that when they did the DGA screening of that.
He talked about it being similar to that film.
The Great Gatsby says,
You three,
what is your guys' favorite PTA film?
Good question.
I mean, it might honestly.
That would be bloodthony.
Mm.
this this one's got recency bias but I do love the silly like grind housey tone so much
that I feel like I'm more likely to return to one battle after another like over and over
so even though like there might be like a conversation about like you know is it objectively
better than there will be but like you know I don't know if that conversation matters
in terms of like just how excited I am to return to it right now one battle
after another. Sure.
My nice.
Did you say, Jay?
Oh, the master.
Nice. Cool. Great movie.
Bumper Munch says,
Happy 200. What are you guys
thoughts on Kill Bill? The whole bloody affair
finally releasing in theaters this December
and does this mean Adam will finally recommend it for the
podcast? You know, it's kind of funny because
like, in my
experience, I was like
oh yeah, as soon as the 4K comes out, we're doing
Kill Bill. And then we were going to
but then Jake chose violence
and we did the Human Center.
Remember? No, that's exactly what had. I would have been kill Bill. Okay, but Jake chose the human centipede trilogy and so glad this is somehow my fault
Yeah, I gave you that choice I guess I gave you all the clues mr. Policeman okay. I was new. I was new when you took advantage of my innocence
Okay, yeah, but yeah, I guess if it's if the whole bloody affairs being released in theaters and we're all able to see it and it's not some dumb thing where Alex is left out
I mean you know
You know
Honestly
Move here.
Okay.
Realistically, though,
you could just watch Kill Bill 1 and 2.
Yeah, well, it's going to be that.
Because it's going to be like a five,
like one minute difference
or something? Like, I think they're adding a
animated sequence, right?
Oh, I don't know. Yeah, but I mean, like,
yeah, we could maybe try that if we'll, we'll see what happens.
We'll see what we're able to do.
Thank you, bumper munch.
Mailstrom says, favorite fincher?
I fucking love Gun Girl
I love Gone Girl
I love Zodiac though
I don't love Zodiac
I don't know I might like them equal
Social Network

Alien Cube
Okay
And another classic
Daniel Gogler says
What is the best concert you've ever seen
Or one you wish you hadn't missed
I've got some in mind.
I saw the band Underworld, who did a bunch of music for train spotting,
at a place called Wasing Estate, and it was awesome.
It was like a perfect show, the perfect scale, not too big, not like a huge arena.
You don't have that intimacy.
The sound was great.
It was kind of buried and tucked into a hill.
That was awesome.
What great show.
Food's shown up in 10 minutes, FY.
I'll grab it when it goes.
Cool.
Took longer than expected, sorry.
One of my favorite concerts ever was Coco Rosie
right after they released their album Tales of a Grass Widow
and they had like a fucking beatboxer playing with them doing the percussion.
And before the show started,
I was like looking at the merch table and I'm like,
why are they selling Bus Driver merch?
What the fuck?
And then the guy selling the merch looked like Bus Driver.
I'm like, oh, I love Bus Driver, but I didn't want to sell.
say I think you're bus driver because then if he's not then I'm racist against black people
and that would be terrible and I was just kind of confused and then he was like oh thanks and then
I bought a shirt and then he went up on stage and started performing as the opener and I didn't
even know bus driver was going to be playing and I was the only person there that who knew who fucking
bus driver was because Coco Rosie's audience is just only lesbians I was like the only I was the only
not lesbian there and I was just fucking like I went to the front I started fucking
rapping and singing along to imaginary places.
I was the only person who knew who the fuck he was,
and it was magical.
And then at the end of the concert, great stuff by Coco Rosie,
they all did some tracks together,
and he was like rapping with them also,
and it was just so cool.
It was awesome.
It was a great concert.
Oh, yeah.
Wow.
I saw Gordon Lightfoot, Canadian Legend, 2015,
at a trailer retirement facility home in Phoenix, Arizona.
It was very great.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
My favorite concerts are always the smaller ones.
All right.
Just Too Good.
Says, yay, what's the strangest place you've watched a movie?
Oh, didn't you do that bathtub?
Not the bathtub, the hot tub.
Hot Tubic Cinema Club, easy.
That was great.
I love that.
Yeah, I made a video out of that.
That was a great video.
Thank you for that.
Yeah.
I've not watched one in a hot tub, but I've watched a movie in the bath.
That's pretty weird.
weird.
Wow.
Batsyp Cinema Club.
Yeah.
And now the business
doesn't exist after I made my video.
I was,
I don't, I had, like, a little
portable DVD player
screen thing when I was a kid.
I used to, like, watch movies, like, in
my closet, in my house.
It was a closeted movie, enjoy.
I was a closeted film fan.
And I don't know why I did
that. It's not that strange. I think it's national coming out day.
Okay, well,
there you go. I watched film.
I'm a, I'm a,
I'm a cinephile.
All right, Zach, art says,
do you guys feel that your content over the years
has affected the new generation of filmmakers?
Adam and his analysis vid
had a big impression on me back then
and the reason why I'm an editor today.
Wow.
Nice.
I mean, yeah, inherently, I think,
I think everybody has to like understand
that they have some impact on the world, you know.
Some people either overplay it or downplay it, you know.
some people are like oh you you haven't done anything and other people have been like you ruined movie criticism
so like i don't know they're somewhere in between right depends on the person and what they're getting
out of it um i've ran into plenty of you know people that are now a part of crews of like
filmmakers that i love that literally said they're working with them because they found them through
my videos and that's super cool that's amazing yeah i think my influence will not be told uh until
centuries from now. I feel like I'm playing
the long game.
Nice.
Playing the long game there.
All right. Daniel Trevino
says, Jake, look to your right and pick out a movie you haven't
watched.
I mean, there's a bunch.
I'm sure there's a... Good choices, though.
Okay. Oh, there's some good ones.
Good movie. Okay.
This one.
I'm just kidding.
You know what? I haven't seen...
what is this
what is this
oh butt boy
it's a classic
okay there you go
we
Alex and I talked
yeah
it's a podcast recommendation
yeah
okay it's great
you should watch it
all right there you go
butt boy
oh my god
that was a great one to pick
yeah
that was
that's a classic
um

Devaprasad Shetty
Guys, both
Bahubali
Bahubali movies are being edited and remastered one
epic movie and getting released on 31st October
Worldwide in theaters. Will you give another shot?
Nope. No, sorry, not my
gym. All right. Elisha
Berthume says, hey, all... Thank you for $20.
Oh, yeah. Hey, I'll
just want to say, I'm a huge fan and been an
avid listener for years at my job. My question is,
have any of you seen the Sopranos?
And if so, what are your thoughts? It's my favorite
piece of media of all time. Yeah, I've seen it.
It's incredible.
Love the ending.
Love the characters.
I also love the ending, but I've only seen the first season and a half and the ending on YouTube.
But not because I didn't like it, but I mean, it was a little slow in the first season.
It was starting to pick up, but I got busy and then I'll revisit it.
I've seen like a couple episodes, and I have also seen the ending on YouTube.
No, the ending is great.
Everyone knows the ending.
It's a good ending.
Don't stop.
Yeah.
All right.
Nyeku says, happy 200.
after all these years, this is still my favorite podcast of all time.
My question, if you had to participate in one reality slash competition TV show, what would it be?
Beast Games.
Fucking.
I wonder.
I wonder.
Because I mean, like, everything I watch, I always, like, imagine myself in the scenario and, like, what I would do, you know?
I don't think I would, I would suck at Squid Game type things.
Like, even the Netflix one or whatever.
Because like
I stick out
Any sort of thing where there's like
People that can eliminate a person
I just stick out and I become the target
I become the target for so many people
Like and I just don't want to do it
Whether I do something or do nothing
I'm like a target for people for some reason
Right and I just like I just stick out
Because I'm weird or whatever right
So like any one of those is probably bad
But if it was like I don't know
I think Fear Factor I could probably do
I would eat a gross thing
Oh God no
I would eat a gross thing and jump off a building.
Having to deal with Joe Rogan that much?
I don't know.
Yeah, but it's old Joe.
It's Joe before like...
It's woke Rogan.
Yeah.
Alex?
Britain's got talent.
With my jaw up.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
Nice.
Okay.
All right, next one.
Thank you.
Mr. Mateo.
Did Alex do the 12 egg knock during his stay?
What does this mean?
Every morning.
I'm doing a 12 egg knock.
Yeah.
If you know, you know.
I.H.
All right.
Parashast
Pandy
You guys got to check out some Indian cinema
Not the overindulgent maximalist
RRRRCRAP
I agree
I agree with
Raj Kapoor and Anarag Khashiyyap
I do want to see some
Sadjit Ray
I do want to see the Apu trilogy
I've seen
I'm like I'm looking
You know I'm going to look up Raj Kapoor right now
And Anarag Khaship
I'll leave some tabs open
Because I'm like
Starving for some
Like good Indian cinema
That's not like
fucking Marvel movie equivalency like you know
the appu trilogy people get mad when it's like oh you didn't like
RRR that means you just hate the culture it's like no I just I just don't like
Marvel movies you made a Marvel movie in Indian no it's more fire than
geez no it's not oh it is I do want to watch the Apu trilogy it's incredible it's so
beautiful oh you've seen it I love it okay great yeah like I've really yeah I'm

there's quite a few on Criterion that you can watch
Okay, yeah, cool.
Next question.
Leave those tabs open and I think, yeah, food's almost here.
Marshall says, what are you guys' thoughts on documentary filmmaker Adam Curtis?
He's most notable for making the century of the self hyper normalization and bitter lake.
I see anything there.
Yeah, well, I've seen a few and I mean, like, dudes, I can see, it's, it's someone who takes a lot of, like,
complicated issues and packages things in like kind of a leading way but doesn't really
answer questions fully but like you watch them and you almost feel like you're smarter
after having watched them but you're not and it's just kind of like it's I don't I think that
dude needs to like structure or write things better or maybe have like stronger perspectives
because it really seems like he's just like
asking a lot of questions
and making a lot of like
you know
implications but not really
saying much
you know that's my problem with him
like yeah I don't know the movie
they're like well made quite interesting
yeah people love him people love him
he's like a very underground kind of like
I mean like he's less
he's popular on the internet
filmmaker right and I think
part of that is like because it's like borderline conspiratorial also but not quite sort of thing like
it's it's it's just not saying anything concrete and that's kind of what what i'm kind of wanting
um if i remember correctly because yeah there was a point where i was getting into adam curtis
just to see and then i feel like i remember that uh amine ad bedrabo thank you for 20 dollars
I think anything $20 are over
We shout that out, okay
Would you ever have Ralph again

awesome thank you oh there's so many thanks for the turnout everybody
and also you know if you want to answer some of these well I'm grabbing food
that's totally fun.
Should we do some old ones?
Yeah, you can go through them.
You can just remember them if they're like Adam specific.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Perfect.
Oh, you got it.
Okay, cool.
All right, I can read through these.
Elijah Berthium says,
The Three Most Attractive of His Boys of All Time.
Well, that's very Adam specific.
Yeah, true.
Thank you very much.
Lucas Oliviera says,
Thank you for all the podcast, love from Brazil.
Nice.
Brazil.
Brazil is great.
Lewis said nothing
Thank you Lewis

Do you remember that character?
No,

I don't know how he sounds,
though.
Yeah,
he kind of like whistles
through his teeth.
Oh yeah,
he does.
Well,

I would need to like
study that.
Sorry.
Also, do I want that out there,

Do I want that sound bite out there?
Pass.
Sorry.

Devian Yanch-Bari

Erica
What's a book when you'd love
Sorry what's a book you'd love to get a movie adaptation
Of and who would you like to direct it
You mentioned Animal Farm earlier
And I know it is getting an adaptation
Uh huh
It doesn't look great
so far.
You could do something cool
with the animation.
I don't know how I'd want to direct it, though.
Okay.
I would love the book
Butcher's Crossing, which I did a long video on,
to get a
to be adapted by the Cohen Brothers.
There you go.
That would be a dark one.
That would be a fun one.
Benicio Villarreal,
when are they all going to start kissing?
That's on a separate.
That's on a separate...
That's the post stream?
Yeah.
Rai Riva the video guy
Will you guys please watch
It's Pat, 1994
Which I know what that is?
It's an S&L character
That became a movie
It's like a skit, the whole skit
Those always work out, right?
The whole skit is that
They're non-binary, basically, but it was the 90s
So it's like a big joke, you know
Because like they can't tell
If they're male or female
So it's probably aged horribly
Oh, duh, yeah
This looks rough.
Yeah.
Have you heard of it's Pat, Adam?
I've heard about it.
It's on my list.
It's apparently pretty not aged well.
Well, I'm getting great, you know, ideas for stuff.
Sure.
For recommendations to torture you guys.
I'm just going to poke to the bathroom.
Sure.
Put this up there.
We're going to munch.
Someone asks when all the kissing starts?
Oh, yeah, that's a members only.
There are quite a few movies I would like to steal
that I might just
steal when you're not looking.
Whatever you want.
Burn after reading.
Do you listen to Blank Check podcast?
No.
They have a great podcast.
They're covering the Cohen Brothers filmography
from you start to finish
and they just did the burn after reading.
It was great.
I love burn after reading.
Yours.
Thank you very much.
Some soy sauce.
Oh, sweet.
Oh, this is kinda messy.
Is it messy?
Yeah.
I mean, not if you use trapsticks, probably.
Okay, well.
You want to...
You want to...
No, I don't want four.
I'm not going to do that person.
Thank you for ordering this.
Of course.
Adam is taking good care of us.
Okay.
It's Pat?
Grimbaugh.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
It's Gimbaup.
It's Korean version of sushi.
You guys start eating.
I'll read through the questions.
Sure.
Just get going.
Okay.
All right.
Michael Mann, 2000 says, thoughts on musical theater,
such as the Lion King, Wicked, Avenue Q, or Book of Mormon.
Personally, I'm pretty picky, but I like almost everything with Andrew Lloyd Weber or Robert Lopez involved.
For the movie version of the Lion King, but whatever.
I mean, yeah, a musical theater can be good.
I don't have like strong

That's wild.
That's really interesting.
This one's beef bulgogi.
This one's chicken mayo and this one's like fish paste thing.
It's good.
I forget what it's called.
But yeah, these are, I mean, you don't have to.
You can have more than one.
All right.
Questions?
Bernardino Novias says, have you guys watched Attack on Titan?
I'm aware of it, but I have not watched it.
I'd like to watch it.
Austin says,
If you had to pick the last surviving movie that future civilizations would discover,
what would you choose and why?
Oh, that's really a hard question.
The last surviving movie?
Because that's not saying the best movie.
That's just like, or your favorite movie, that's what would be the best one?
maybe like a nature documentary i don't know
speed racer
or speed racer
i don't even like it just i would like people to be
fucking weirded out
something
overstimulating the concept of a movie would be ruined
i think avatar would just really
fuck with them and like they'd have a new religion
based on avatar
see his music that would be a good one
uh-huh
um
andy the Drew one
that that person they're always
commenting, right? I've seen them.
Andy the Drew 1. Yeah, you're right.
Favorite pieces of fan. They made fan art, I'm pretty sure.
Oh, thank you.
Yeah, thank you, Andy the drew one.
Favorite pieces of fan art? I really liked the one of us as the human centipede.
That was a goody.
That was really great.
I had to post that in the description for the video
because I didn't want it to be demonetized.
I was like, this one might not be appropriate. I don't know.
The recent paper cuts out one was funny as well.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, there's some good ones.
The recent ones that were posted, I will include it in future episodes.
Don't worry.
I've saved the links on the podcast.
Yeah, there's some great fan art that you guys have on.
Thank you.
Yeah, we want more fan art.
Keep them coming.
They'll appear in the beginnings of the episodes and stuff.
Post them on the subreddit, whatever you need to do.
Gamer Vick 94.
Jake, what are your thoughts on anime?
I am pro anime.
I don't really watch anime, but I have nothing against it.
I really like that movie Akira.
That's great.

Tyler, the content creator, says,

what would you name the child and how would you go about raising it?
Uh.
Names?
Um.
Ass.
No.
No.
But what name?
But I like names that are like almost like other names, but they're wrong.
You know?
Like Tedrick.
Or like Tedrick.

Yeah.
Yeah.

There you go.
So you need, right?
It's all you need.
Positive.
Um,

98 says I think Alex is the only one
to have seen Avatar the Last Airbender
since a new animated movie is coming out next year
I wonder if Jake or Adam have seen or will watch
so that you guys could have a show discussion
and maybe cover that upcoming film
are they talking about the full
like the original animated show?
I think they're talking about the original, yeah.
Okay, yeah.
I've seen some of it.
I've seen the first episode.
It was good.
It's really good.
I can see why people like it.
That's genuinely awesome.
Also, 50 bucks, thank you.
Yeah, thank you.
Marshall Kaiju.
Yeah.
Reality Goggle says,
Are the Sard Boys going to smooch?
What is with this kissing?
I mean, that's for later.
You guys got to pay extra for that.
Also, is curious, your boys' thoughts on Zach
Craigor directing the upcoming Resident Evil reboot.
That's apparently supposed to be a return to form.
Yeah, I mean, I'm excited for that.

favorite adult swim animated shows uh favorite the shivering truth was uh common side effects
saddle swim i think i think it might be like it be my favorite i love that show i can't even
think of any right now
least favorite i don't know yeah i don't know if i have a least favorite all right well sloth hypothetically
based on your personalities if all of your names changed to chad who would be chad one chad two and chad three
i mean you just go by age yeah i it was the first there you go warden says when did y'all
really start getting into movies slash films and what were some films that were influential in you
star did what currency is cop
the cop currency.
10,000 cops.
You gotta pay 10,000 cops.
Thank you, though.
Yeah, I'm curious about that, actually.
When did you guys start getting into movies?
Bionicle.
Yeah, bionicle.
Well, one of my earlier memories for, like, how films were made.
I think my brother made a comment, like, watching, was it like, Babe or something?
And there was, like, a passage of time fading shot of, like, like,
an animal like in a pen and it was like, okay, yeah, they're pacing around and they're lonely and you can see like time passing because of the fade effect.
And I think my brother was like, how do they do that? And then I was like, oh, wait, how did they do that sort of thing?
Like that was like an early example of me questioning what the process of a film was rather than just taking it at face value.
And then, yeah, I guess like specific films that kind of nurtured that like Memento was one where loved that when I was like 15.
I was really thinking about like
okay it's not just the story
but it's like how you tell the story right
and so that was really instrumental
to my
the way I experienced film
nice Alex
um
by nonical genuinely is one
that's great which is
you know it does kind of explain where your
career has you know
win and like your your interests and stuff
I know right
also alien as well
coming from a place of fear
it was like a way of me to
unpack the fear
that the film made me feel.
As someone who's probably too young to be watching it.
But that helped me unpack it, you know?
Like seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff,
like, oh, okay, it's not real.
Yeah, I guess it just stuck from there.
Oh, nice. Okay.
My film origin story, I was a book kid.
I was super into reading, like in middle school and stuff.
And I loved movies, like, you know, normal movies and everything.
But it wasn't until I read the book,
2001 of Space Odyssey,
became obsessed with that series. I read all the books in that series from Arthur C. Clark and then I
of course had to watch the movie and I thought this is the most pretentious bullshit I'd ever seen.
I was like in middle school. I was like seventh grade. But it stuck in my head like crazy and I became
obsessed with Stanley Kubrick and I watched all Kubrick's movies and so that's just kind of how it started.
Awesome. Yeah. So there you go. Um radical soda. Yeah. Well Alex, will Alex ever continue the search for the
worst? Also, what do you guys think of people that review cartoons for a living? Is it a worthwhile job?
Yeah, maybe one do.
Yeah, what the heck do something good with you why you reviewing a cartoon?
I don't know why they singling out cartoon reviewers. Yeah, no idea. It's fine. Yeah, why not talk about what you want to talk about? Yeah
There's enough there's enough animation that you could do it forever. Yeah, so like yeah, why not pick a niche or like a genre or whatever?
Yeah, search for the worst field for that I don't know.
Maybe.
Jojo's Crazy Channel.
Will y'all ever watch Gendi Tartikovsky's primal?
Yes, eventually.
I've seen some of it.
I love the animation.
Samurai Jack and Hoto Transylvania.
Fixed.
Fixed is the latest one.
I wouldn't recommend that one.
Yeah, people don't like that one.
I don't like it.
Yeah, he's...
It's usually pretty reliable.
It's got very distinct.
It's got a style.
Yeah, his style.
Did you see that recent thing he leaked
to try and get a project greenlit?
No.
It was kind of cool.
Like an adult themed animated thing about like a knight and like giant armor.
Oh, cool.
It looked pretty cool.
All right, JC411.
Hello, Stars.
Can you guys being old as fuck give some advice to someone who's going to be entering their 20s?
TMMRBTW, please wish me a happy birthday.
I need acknowledgement from strangers.
YWAM.
What is TMMR mean?
Is it?
Thank, mom, marry.
Tomorrow?
Oh, tomorrow, what?
I don't know.
I don't get it.
Y-W-A-M, what does that mean?
You're welcome and murdering.
Happy birthday, J-C-4-E11.
Advice going into your 20s.
I mean, it depends on what you want to do, but like...
That'd be too hard on yourself.
The world's changed so much.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Remember that no matter how difficult things get, that oftentimes it's a lens through which you're perceiving your own reality.
And it's very difficult to remember that while you're in that moment experiencing a lens of something like depression or anxiety, even if it lasts for a long time.
And once you're out of it, it's very easy to look back at it retrospectively and go, oh, okay.
Things weren't as bad as they actually were.
But it's difficult while you're in it.
So try your best to remember that that lens exists.
And perhaps it might not be something as, you know, basic as like, oh, just exercise more or like, you know, get more sunlight.
There might be like, you know, it might be like a chemical imbalance.
Like I found out I had an ADHD at like 30 fucking four years old.
Right.
So a lot of shit I could have been doing before that point that would have helped out.
Yeah, you know, the older you get, the more you experience, the more you figure out.
That's good.
Good advice.
Yeah.
No.
Anything?
Yeah, don't be too hard on yourself.
Let's find to make mistakes.
You know?
Everyone says that 30s are better than 20s anyway.
So just stick it out.
You're going to learn and change a hell of a lot.
That's a sure.
And I'm going to say, very specifically,
you have way more time than you realize.
Yes.
You're going to think you've got to rush to do all this stuff.
You have so much time.
like seriously just you really don't have to rush anything just and it's also very normal to like
start over throughout your life yeah you're kind of always starting over at something throughout
your life you know i went i went back to college late you know like you can really do anything
like after a certain point no one's gonna judge yeah like i mean you know morgan freeman
didn't even like become famous until he was like 60 or something like geoffrey apstein
wasn't a prolific pedophile until like he wasn't doing that in
like in his 20s.
Like you needed to like build it.
Oh yeah.
Like you know,
you make some mistakes and you got to like pick back up again,
but it's all a part of the,
you know,
it's all a part of the journey.
There might be some ups and downs,
but, you know,
eventually you'll become,
hopefully not like Jeff Reapstein,
but yeah,
you'll figure it out.
Colin Mayes.
You have one task.
Add Cool Cat to any movie in order to make it better.
Which one are you picking?
Elephant.
Gus Fanzant.
Jurassic Park.
Saving Private Ryan.
Nice.
Julian Martinez,
his question, favorite Nickelodeonian movie.
SpongeBob, right?
Spongebob, yeah.
Pretty easy.
Spongebob, yeah.
All right.
Roydick cock.
Love you guys.
Alex and Adam are my childhood favorite
YouTubers, Q.
What's the most embarrassing movie slash scene
anyone has ever walked in on you watching?
I was watching eyes wide shut in like high school, I think.
And I was like getting to the really, you know,
the juicy parts and my dad walked in
to the house as I was watching it
I'm pretty sure I was anticipating I knew he was coming over and I was like I know I have to
turn off the Blu-ray player at some point and he he I hear the door open and I just
throw the remote because I was so nervous yeah and my dad was like oh you must have been
watching something really interesting huh I was like yeah yeah I wonder if I've had one
of those moments I don't know if I've ever like been caught why
something that I shouldn't be in.
Yeah, for me it was more like when I was watching a bunch of like anime or
like Japanese video games and like my parents would always come in when it was like the
you know what like in the cutscenes were going
and all this shit.
So that was like hard to I guess it's blind.
I have so many. There's like way more of awkward moments like that.
All right, golden tintype says,
Favorite canceled after a one-season show.
I have to think.
Let me see a list or something.
I guess Arrested was canceled after two seasons, right?
Then brought back.
Yeah, which ones even exist of those anymore?
Because, like, Clone High got another season, too.
I can't really have one.
Only one season.
Yeah, I wonder.
I'd have to think about it.
Sorry, most of my short-running shows are, like, two seasons.
seasons.
That I love.
All right,
J.M. Film says,
what's your favorite example
of retconning in a movie,
show, or game,
and what's one that you can't stand?
Everything in every saw movie
is my favorite,
and also one that I can't stand.
If I can see games,
I'll say what they did to Halo.
Oh.
That was fun.
What did they recone with Halo?
Like everything?
Like in the show?
The games went
343 took over.
Oh.
Changing the forerunners.
Oh yeah, they did.
Everything.
I hated everything in The Rise of Skywalker.
Nice. Yeah, yeah.
Blue Space Dog,
congrats on 10 years of Sardonicast Boys.
Alex, what is the best bionicle?
Copacca.
Which one's that?
The ice one.
Or the white one, you mean.
Yeah, the white one.
The white one, sure.
Classic Christmas.
Okay, Alex.
All right. Jane Pro.
Go ahead.
Jane Poe.
You guys got to watch four lions. Unironically, might be the first of funniest movie I've ever seen.
It's awesome. Yeah, I could give it another shot.
You don't like it. Well, I don't know how far I made it. I didn't connect with it much when I watched it when I was younger, so
Shy Zohar. In cot stealing, the Twin Towers show up in the background of the shot where they are going to the storage facility. Jake, is it a 10 now?
Yes. Okay, perfect. Esoteric videos.
Adam said a movie can have nothing wrong with it and still not be a 10 at a 10.
I agree, by the way.
What movies would you rate relatively low but still feel are basically perfect for what they're going for?
Bionicle.
Mask of Light.
You know, the donkey movie we did.
That's how I kind of feel.
Balthazar.
Al-Hazard Balthazar.
I wouldn't say funny games is like a 10 out of 10 for me, but it's achieving what it's trying to do.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, that's exactly what the question was asking.
All right, thank you.
Dreaming Kymann for Jake.
How do you like reading Fantastic Force Effort?
Dude, this is such a rabbit hole.
I've been buying so many comic books and getting into comic and like reading different stuff.
I wanted to read all of Hickman's Fantastic Four run.
So I bought the freaking condensed Marvel version that they have now.
That's like Fantastic Four solved everything.
And I didn't realize they cut out a ton of shit.
So I was really annoyed.
And also now like the Omnis for the Hickman run is like super out of print.
And they're all like $300.
dollars so um buying comics and shit is so fucking annoying that's the main reason i haven't done it yeah
i don't know how people so intimidating it's so it's so complicated but i've never less gone
into it and i've been reading lots of stuff which i'll talk about that some other point here's my
question for beth what do you think of fucking gimba your first time trying gimba yeah i like it yeah i like it
i love korean food you're in vancouver so great great Asian food thank you adam glad to introduce
you to new things um the bog
Love the Pod boys
Great to see y'all together
Need your thoughts on William Friedkin
Specifically if you've seen his adaptations
Of Tracy Letts plays
Killer Joe and Bug
Those are Tracy Letts plays? I had no idea
That's nuts
I haven't seen Killer Joe or Bug
Me neither
Are we talking about Bug like 2006
I don't know
Oh I don't know then
Bug
You guys like Friedkin
No strong opinion
I think I think Bug was a movie that I
watched when I was like
13 and I hate it or something
and then maybe I should give it
I don't know maybe I'm saying killer Joe I can't remember I love
I mean I love like the exorcist in French connection obviously but also
sorcerer which people have been wanting us to talk about yeah I would like
mentioning I'd like to watch that fucking love sorcerer and I read his biography
a long time from YMS highlights
Olivia asks Alex when's hunt down the Freeman

development hell yeah it's it's
I'm for sure.
Noise H.
Opinions on Fear and Loathing book and or movie.
I love the movie.
I've actually seen the movie.
You haven't?
Nope.
Oh, it's great.
I saw it a long time ago.
Yeah.
That'd be a good wreck, actually.
That'd be a great wreck.
Yeah, it's, it's been long enough that I've been, I haven't even seen it in 4K yet.
And I have the 4K movie.
Yeah, yeah.
But it's been long enough that I would love a rewatch.
It's fun.
It's great.
It's like, it's one of the better, like, Gilliam, like, for his style complimenting what he's.
It's one of the few of his I haven't seen.
Preston.
What is your opinion on 1931, Frankenstein?
Have I seen it?
I don't know if I've seen it.
I've seen it in pieces, but I'm more familiar with Bride of Frankenstein.
I feel like Bride of Frankenstein also has that, like, interesting subtext.
Right, right.
But, yeah, I don't know.
I really need to watch it in full.
Procrastinators.
Thank you for helping me find my favorite movies.
Freddy Got Fingered Black, Adam, and Free Guy are all films you've let me adore.
You're welcome
You're welcome
Danny Fane
Congrats on 200
Seeing Tron Ari's got me thinking
What franchise do you guys think had great potential
But never quite lived up to it
Um
Yeah I mean like sure Tron is in that mix
Franchoes
Maybe Game of Thrones
Oh yeah
Yeah
Yeah something like that
Every franchise
Star Wars
Yeah, Avatar
Cool cat

Julian Martinez
What is your opinion of K-pop Demon Hunters
Well, I haven't seen it yet
But I probably will when it gets nominated
For Best Animated Feature later in the game
It's going to, isn't it? Yeah, I guess it will, right?
Yeah, it's Netflix
Did you guys watch it? I haven't seen it
I did
It was fun
I personally didn't like it, but
I don't know
I just felt like I'm not the target audience really
Damn, hater
Yeah, so's.
Thor's Fendon.
Congrats for 200 episodes last time I asked if any of you watch sports.
And Alex said he watches football time.
So my tribal football brain has to know if you support a specific fick club.
I don't.
I'm not really a football guy.
No.
Oh, yeah.
Which football?
We talk about soccer?
Soccer.
Yeah, the real one.
We're not talking about hand egg?
No.
All right.
Thank you so much.
Thor. Chai Zohar, you need
to see Seconds, 1966,
Amazing and Up Your Alley. I feel like
that's in my watch list. I really want to watch that.
I don't know why I haven't seen it yet.
I feel like that's in my watch list. Thank you.
Ezra the worst.
What's the most disappointed
you've every been in a movie?
I don't know.
I don't know, fucking like
the new Coppola.
Oh.
Right.
What was it called again?
Megalopolis.
Yeah, megalopold.
Lalopal Ruffle copter? I mean to be disappointed that means you have to have high hopes in a film
I was hoping it would be funny okay I was hoping you would just be funny that's it okay it's boring
I was stuck in a fucking theater god all right KG left from Australia if you guys could only watch
one director's filmography for the rest of your life who would you who would each of you choose
that's a great question because I feel like I love Hanky Chan but like what I want more variety
right it'd have to be a lot someone with a long film what maybe Sydney
Lumet. I mean, he made so many different types of movies.
So many, but also a lot of bad movies, too.
Yeah, he owns some range.
It was a single director.
Howard Hawks, I don't know. He made so many movies, lots of different genres.
I'd have a lot to go on.
Gore Vibinsky.
Gore Vibinsky.
I'll say Danny Bowler.
Sure, yeah.
I like Gore of Bynchie.
Yeah.
PTA, honestly, yeah.
Yeah.
PTA would be a great one.
Yeah.
Even Hanky Chan was not out of the question.
Shai Zohar.
Any, Adam, any plans on releasing new music soon?
Well, my arm is a little goofed right now,
but I'm still composing and writing and making things.
And I would love to make like another, like,
at least an EP in like a year or whatever when my arm's better.
That's the plan.
And even if my arm's fucked,
I think I'll just try to record a couple songs and hurt myself and then be done
and have to figure out what I'm doing after that point.
Francisco 0196,
have you enjoyed a piece of media like a book or game based off a movie more than the movie?
Yeah, the last of us is.
a better game than the show.
Most games are better than the movies.
Is there a single one that isn't at this point?
Most books are better than the movie.
Yeah, right? That's like everything, but thank you.
Golden Tintype. Can the title of a movie affect what you guys think of it?
What are some movies you guys think would be better or worse with a different title?
Well, I know Alex, you think Mars Express is not a great title.
Yeah.
That's my good to at the moment.
Incredible movie, though.
One battle after another kind of, that was a title that, that was a title that,
Took me a while to warm up too. I think it's fine, but I think it's a good title. It's catching. It has the word battles in it
Battle battle, right? Yeah, I didn't love it as a title. Oh, oh bad, yeah, oh bad, but boy great title
But boy, amazing immediately I was like got to see it right castration movie anthology won traps
Immediately I was like what the heck that is going right nymphomaniac volume one sure
Yeah, better or worse with a different...
Dancer in the dark, that's a good one.
That's a great thing.
Breaking the waves.
Lots of good.
Oh, yeah, hell yeah.
Both of you have seen Breaking the Waves or no?
Yes.
I don't think so.
Okay, all right, I'll keep that in mind.
Substitute Metalhead.
What movie villain has the silliest voice, but are intimidating?
I am also turning 30 tomorrow.
Can you do a roast?
Lastly, congrats on 200 episodes.
Thank you.
How do you roast someone you don't know?
Substitute Metalhead?
Fucking, that's a stupid-ass question, you idiot.
Wow.
Yeah.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
You got a metal head?
That's not where metal's supposed to be.
Turning 30?
More like turning like an idiot.
Substitute teaching.
Like a fucking dumb piece of shit.
God.
God, what the fuck?
Yeah.
Silliest voice but are intimidated.
Sean Penn and Oba.
Sure.
Yeah.
True.
Thank you.
Brickson and
Thoughts on Jack Frost
1998 with Michael Keaton
was one of my favorite
cursed films
I've been listening
since the start
here's to 200 more
I would love to revisit it
because I have a very specific memory
of my dad getting angry
I saw this last year
I remember it being creepy
oh wow yeah
it's so bad
I need to
I need to revisit it
just for like a weird
nostalgic memory
but I was watching it
like with my
I don't know
home video
like parents
brother
and my dad
was like, you have to understand that when your dad's dead, he's dead, he doesn't come back.
Oh, wow, really?
Yeah.
And like a very, wow.
That pissed him off.
He's like, I can't have my kids thinking your dad's going to come back if I die.
Wow.
Oh, wow.
That pissed him off.
That's the memory.
That's incredible.
I do love it, though, when the profile picture matches the question.
I know.
That's nice.
Yeah.
Cool.
Yeah.
Nice.
synergy.
Yeah.
Golden Tintype.
Heads or tails.
Love y'all been watching for years.
literal or on a coin
Yeah what is that question
I like tails
Heads if it's a coin flip I always choose heads
But if it's not a coin flip I choose tails
Jabberjaw productions
Jake do you still read Brandon Sanderson
Novels? It's been a while since you've uploaded a video
About his books so if no why not if yes video please
I do I just haven't lately because I just haven't been reading any fantasy lately
but I still like Brandon Sanders.
And I actually,
I met him at WorldCon this year,
which was very cool.
But yeah,
I just haven't been reading fantasy.
I just,
for whatever reason,
that's just not been my thing lately.
Sure.
Thank you so much,
Eli,
for the membership.
RLXM84,
are you guys open to inviting Fantano
back on the podcast
to discuss blindspotting
since he's a huge clipping fan?
I think it would be better
to have him on the podcast
to discuss the fucking Little Mermaid remake
because David,
David,
is also in that as Sebastian.
Yeah, we'd love to happen back.
True, yeah.
Fantano.
Owen Mahan, love the show.
I've been listening for a long time, Jake.
I know you're a Stephen King fan, Alex, and Adam.
Are you fans of his novels or film adaptations?
I'm like no more likely to check out or not check out something if it says his name on it,
because he's written so many fucking things and not even an indicator of quality at this point.
Yeah, I take it, case by case.
Yeah.
The long walk was good.
Did you guys see that?
I enjoyed that.
I enjoyed that.
Okay.
But the life of Chuck was a disaster in my personal opinion.
I've heard it's the life of suck.
People are really mad about my...
That's a Stephen King, but...
Yeah.
No, I know, right?
It's like a feel-good...
It's a normie masterpiece.
Mike Flanagan made it, you know,
and I like Mike Flanagan when he leads more into the horror stuff,
and this was no horror.
It's just all kind of like the sentimental stuff
that I personally find unpleasant, but...
All right, Clay McDonald says,
you should read Fool's Progress.
Ed Abbey.
Okay.
I will check.
Thank you.
Edward Abbey?
Okay.
I'll check.
Toc 951 Galangos.
What's up guys?
Do you fellas like?
Ween, the band.
When the band does what?
I think I've only ever heard
Homo Rainbow,
and it was like in a
old Halo compilation video
where they were making fun
of the concept of being gay.
Right.
And I don't know if I'm that familiar
with Ween.
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't sound good.
I've heard they're good.
Like Critica Fomei
What's Adam's old boy equivalent for Jake and Alex?
That would just be like something that
Shitty remake of something you care about?
Is that what they mean?
I don't know.
Like the new Houth Trainor Dragon, I guess.
Yeah, that looks bad.
Do you have an answer, Jake, but no?
It's okay.
I know it's delicious.
It's okay.
You don't worry about it.
yours mine and ours
that was a kid's movie
starring Henry Fonda
that came out in the 60s I think
they remade it with
what's his face
Reagan
oh there you go
that's funny
it was bad
green entertainment question for comrade
Jake and Alex
thoughts on about Discworld and the Lego
disc world set that might be made
you guys are getting some
that'd be cool questions
because of me
I mean I'll be down with that
Discworld I've read a couple I think I've only read one disc world book. It's Terry Pratcher, right? Yeah, Terry Pratch. Yeah, yeah
Mm-hmm. Sloth, in each of your opinions, what movie you think has the most dated effects but has never mentioned as criticism?
Never mentioned as criticism. King Kong?
Sure. That's a good answer because I also agree like, yeah, it's dated, but like it's great. It's great. Yeah. It's like
depends what you're watching the movie for. Is it to believe that a thing is actually happening or is it to like?
like the entertained and love the filmmaking.
Yeah, yeah.
Green Entertainment, thoughts on primal season three.
I don't think any of us has seen primal season three,
but thank you so much.
And also thank you G3O Clush for the donation
without any message.
And here we go.
We're going to go back to some of the TTS ones.
And I think this is where...
I'm going to pee real quick.
Go for it.
Uh-huh. Yeah. Thank you all.
Hey, Sards.
Atam, you recently had a review of In the Bedroom on your Quicky Catchup video.
I would love to see Little Children recommended sometime soon on the podcast.
Congrats on 200 episodes.
Whoa.
Don't joke.
I would also love to see Little Children recommended someone on the podcast.
I guess, thank you, Excel, spreadcheeks.
Whoa, who.
Whoa, who.
Here's a good sport in the recording booth.
Busy doing a 48-hour film fest,
so I have to miss this sadly,
but thank y'all for providing amazing content.
He hates a me, he lie to me.
Thank you, Sam Jager.
Thank you.
Get your fat ass back here.
Don't make me slap you with my penis.
I'll be a son of a bitch.
Thank you, Jake Dyer.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Okay, serious question this time.
What did you guys think of the new Smiling Friends episode?
I thought it was hilarious as always.
If you haven't watched it, what do you think of the first two seasons?
Any favorite episodes?
I have not watched it yet.
My favorite episode is the very horror-coded one in season.
season one with the like claymation and like you just did blackface like that one's my favorite
I love that because it's actually like terrifying and I love getting that like mixed
emotions I like the one with the I can remember his name he's like a PS1 character
oh yeah yeah that was fun that was fun uh and then what just we'll remember to ask jacob
who's seen smiling friends when he's back thank you noah workman thank you I've been listening
since I was 13 and now I'm 18 I was only 14
during episode 100.
Two questions. Do any of you guys know about the website?
Blu-ray.com?
Use it to log your collection, and what are guys' favorite places to buy clothes at?
Um, yeah, I'm aware of the website. I don't use it to log anything, but sometimes I use it to, like, see if there's, like, releases of...
Different physical releases of a thing that I like, just to, like, confirm that it exists somewhere and maybe, like, oh, it's on...
Germany, Amazon or something.
I don't use it for that.
Mm.
Nice and legal.
What the fuck?
And then favorite places to buy clothes?
At this point, like kind of thrift shubs, honestly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, honestly.
Thank you so much.
And can I get a hot tub?
Thank you.
Marshall Kaiju and also high three feet.
three. And then, yeah, here we go. Oh, wow, nice.
Pip to the poy, premium voie, ipswich toy, bully eye zoi, clangor cloy, tip of the toy,
ding dang doi, lover loy, father of the foy, chuck to the choy, zing zong, loy, danger
doi, go hard on the boy and less satisfied loy. Ha haoo, love you all cool cat.
That was awesome.
I also, whenever I see the word danger, I think dangar.
Dangador.
Yeah, but it's just a regular word danger, right?
Hey, Sardonicast, bros, here is a serious question for you.
Which art house film character should get a Fortnite skin?
Me personally, I think an amelie skin would go great with my squad of Ice, Spice, Peter Griffin, and Travis Scott.
Love ya.
Cool cat.
Easy.
He's an house film character.
Thanks, you're our boy.
Jake, have you seen
Smiling Friends?
Yeah.
Do you have a favorite episode?
That was asked before.
No, I don't remember it very well.
Sure.
Are there any pre-Renaissance
animated Disney films
you guys enjoy
curious on your thought
on any of them
you have seen or really like?
I really love.
the 101 Dalmatians.
The anime...
Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, that's a good
classic. I remember liking
Robin Hood.
Yeah, that was cool.
This fox on the hand, that's pre-Renaissance.
I like that when I was a kid.
Yeah.
There's some good stuff in there. Thank you.
Kiwi.
Since it was mentioned
that one battle,
after another is based on
Thomas Pinchons-Vinland,
are any of you familiar
with Thomas Pinchon's novels in
general? This question might be best for Jake since he's reviewed literature on his channel.
Yeah, I've tried to read Thomas Pinchot of various times in my life, but this year I made it the
furthest I've ever been into Gravity's Rainbow, which was like 100 pages. And then I got slowed down
by, you know, life. But I still want to continue reading it. It's fascinating and very good,
but kind of incomprehensible. But yeah. All right, we're going to continue going through these
we're going to try our best.
Is there any hard out, Jake?
No, no, no.
I was checking with Nadia.
Okay, sure.
So how much more do you think?
Well, we're catching up to them.
Like, we're answering them faster than they're coming.
Just, like, I'm assuming like 30 more minutes, but like...
That's totally fine.
Yeah, yeah.
Sweet.
Yeah.
So, well, and if, you know, if we got to go, then we'll just, I don't know, answer them at the end of the next recording or something.
We'll just, like, hang on to them.
Yeah, sure.
But we're good right now.
I was just checking on our interview.
Okay, cool.
V2 itself.
Can't think of a question.
Just love all y'all's content
Also thank you, Adam. In specific for your music,
it has brought me much joy, gay boy.
Thank you so much.
Lucas Stack.
How would you rank the films of Edgar Wright,
Best Works?
Love you guys.
Been watching since the beginning.
Jake is a wonderful addition.
I would say...
Thank you.
Hope those.
Yeah.
Sean of the Dead.
Baby Driver?
Yeah.
I love Baby Driver.
I think I like Sean of the Dead more
than Hot Fuzz, even though Hot Fuzz is like a more well put together, well-coordinated and
orchestrated, my end film. But I just like, I like Sean of the Dead, like, just as a fun entertainment.
Where would you rank last name in Soho? The bottom. Oh, really? I mean, yeah, it's the worst one. I've
never seen it. I just, it's the worst one. Wow. Okay. Running Man, that's coming out this year.
Yeah, yeah. I'm curious about it. Not that Sam Smith. When is Alex recommending men in Black Interd
National need that tells to learn about Pony.
What the fuck?
I'm listening to the show since the beginning.
Big hugs.
What is Pony?
Yeah, I don't know if they can handle it.
These guys, I mean.
Try me.
Yeah.
All right.
Danny Fane, thank you for the $20.
Whoa.
Have you guys ever watched an anime serial experiments lane?
It's a hunting 1998 cyberpunk thrill that scarcely predicted the internet and only grows more
prescient every year, especially with the advent of AI.
Interesting because the internet was invented before 1998.
What do you mean?
Yeah, no.
I think that's on my watch list, but I haven't seen it.
But thank you, though.
I'd be interested to check it out.
You want me to read some, Adam?
Rest your voice.
Sure.
Okay.
Finest cloth says, Jake, I read 5 December's based on your wreck and loved it.
Any other books or movie wrecks to scratch the same match?
Five December is an amazing book.
It's like Detective No, I'd say read some more hard, boiled crime stuff.
I would check out Dashel Hammett.
Read Red Harvest.
Violet Kitty says, hi again.
Please, oh, please get Zach had a.
Hidel? Hidal.
Haydl.
On the podcast, somehow, that would be very cool.
Mithinks. Rar, meow.
You didn't read XD.
XD.
Or in the colon 3.
3, 3, 3, 3.3.
Yeah, that would be cool.
We'll reach out to him at some point.
Okay.
But yeah, we're not doing guests for like the...
For like a little bit.
Okay?
I just need to like figure out my health shit first and not pile on more things.
We don't like other people.
Yeah.
And there's like, yeah, Oscar's shit is like coming up soon.
Like, all the good movies are going to be...
Like, we're in the...
It's going to get busy.
We're in the last quarter of the year, basically.
Yeah.
Like, shit's going to...
I don't know.
We'll worry about that next year.
But thank you.
Kefka Kefla says,

Thank you, Son.
Wesley Garcia says,
what one out of ten film do you wish got Criterion 4K Blu-ray?
one out of ten one out of ten uh none what no well you know i mean like if we're doing 10 out of 10
ironically bad things and like yeah faithful findings but i don't give that a one out of 10 okay okay so i think
that's what you mean to freedom to freedom that'll be a good country yeah to freedom is great good ones
warden uh films that helped you through hard times
synectady new york and the lion king naked mike lee nice wow it's a dark one
I was going to say

So perhaps this has already been asked
But what are your favorite films
Of the decade so far
Love you guys
Love you as well
Decade
Perfect days isn't that for me
2025
I thought it was 2020
I'd have to check
Wait what did you say Alex
Perfect days
It's on that for me
Brits list
I want to see that
Perfect Days is good
Yeah the Brut list is awesome

last decade

I mean
hundreds of beavers
I just fucking love
so much
um
hundreds of beavers
is just like
just happy to see it
thrive
I would have to
check some of my ratings
so maybe I'll do that
will you answer
I'd say brutalist
for now
just because that's yeah
I'd have to watch that
a second time
with it before I could say that
First name, last name
Just got here
So sorry if asked already
Thoughts on the Night of the Seven Kingdoms trailer
Looks good
Did you guys see that?

I don't think I've seen this
Game of Thrones

It looks good
Donken Egg

Yeah I never saw the second
The Emerald Ax
Says
Who wins in a fight
Shantel Ackerman versus Belatar
Akerman
Bellatah if we're just going on
pure length right
it's not all about what do you mean pure length
it's all about the length
What are you talking about? I feel like they would give them an advantage in the fight you know
I think for longest movie I feel like
Chantel maybe has made like more length total though right
Maybe
Chantel has like more films
I'm going with Akraman because she's at the top of the sight and sound list
and that that means that she's the best filmmaker
True.
There you go.
Kino Therapy Movies says,
Who Are Your Favorite Video Essayists?
Oh, man.
We all miss every frame of painting.
I mean, I love Jenny Nicholson.
That counts.
I love Lindsey Nicholson's great.
I love Lindsay Ellis.
Her latest video was very good.
Yeah, I still,
damn, I need to keep going through that.
I love Big Joel.
I love Hello Future Me.
Captain Christian has some great stuff.
H-bomber guy, yeah.
course when he posts
H. H. H. H. H. Joseph
Anderson does good game stuff.
Oh. Except
their video on the witness.
You don't like that, but you?
I've got some criticisms.
It's not like, yeah.
It's not my perspective and I feel like,
yeah, I could go on for a long time.
I'm not going to get trapped in that.
Sure, sure.
All right.
Marshall Kaiju 98 says,
forgot to say congrats on 200 episodes.
Fans since day one after Wally's criterion release.
What other Disney slash
Pixar or animated film in general would like we'd like to see under the collection much love fellas
yeah wallie that's kind of controversial entry huh ratatooie easily ratatoo is great
incredibles incredibles oh god so i'm just i'm i figured out how to organize by the release date
and show all my tens so notable things for like favorite of the decade and this would have to
be like yeah figured out later i'm thinking of ending things uh uh
Tar.
Poor things.
Hundreds of beavers, brutalists,
the substance in one battle after another.
There would be some battle between those.
But those are my favorites of the decades so far.
Very good.
All right, Matthew says,
can you guys please watch and discuss Love Liza
starring Philip Seymour Hoffman?
Sure.
I've never heard of that.
Love Eliza.
I think there was like there's some controversy
behind that film.
I don't know. Is there?
I like Phillips Seymourke.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Seymour Hoffman's.
in it. I love a good
psh. A push film.
Nick Fidel says,
congrats on 200. I finished the last 40 pages of my senior
thesis while listening to episode 100.
What's the most you've ever had to cram something?
Congrats.
Oh my God. The most I've ever had to cram something?
I was creating a fucking documentary
like in real time for like my
high school's
like Christmas
pageant play thing.
Like for free.
And just because I wanted to sort of thing
And the teacher was like letting me
And I was there every single fucking rehearsal
And I would like go home and like
I would have to
manually press play to capture the footage onto the computer
Through like the composite cables
Because it wasn't like digital
And then get it backed up onto the computer
And then edit enough of the movie
and then export it so that I could then take files off of the computer
because I just didn't have enough room for everything
and then like burning DVDs of footage as I was going
and it was crazy and I still managed to make like a comprehensive thing out of it
and I was like 15 years old and it's not amazing but it's great for a 15 year old
and I was like that I consider that experience to be like instrumental
and like just why I'm good at editing now.
Oh interesting Alex.
I've had to crunch on a bunch of videos.
I made the not Disney collection.
in like 24 hours because I was going away for like a week I just had to get it done
Jesus I just didn't sleep down night I think I paid off nice I'm a serial
procrastinator so I usually am cramming things last minute but in college I think some of
my finest moments were you know writing a paper with like two hours to spare and
having not working it at all and then getting an A because I'm just like fucking you guys
got nothing on me and then it encourages me to procrastinate even more of the next one
It's a bad cycle. It's very dangerous and bad for me.
But moving on to Eli 433, if your movie sucks, does that mean man, man, man, man, man, man, boy, boy, man.
Oh, yeah, your cadence was perfect.
Man, man, boy, boy, man.
What?
Yeah, that's my music channel.
Nothing but hits.
Nothing but hits.
And the guy who says that, who says man, man, boy, boy was a Canadian boy.
Good.
Nice.
Yeah.
All right. David Morrison says, have any of you guys seen Doctor Who or Red Dwarf?
No.
I've seen a bunch of Doctor Who when it was cool.
Oh, yeah.
Of course. I think you're legally required to watch.
I know, right?
I'm not like the biggest Hoovian. Is that we call them?
I like the David Tenet Run.
You're not from Who, Bill?
That's a different thing.
No Red Dwarf there.
All right.
G3 O Clush says
Congrats
Heart
Have you seen Bojack Horseman
Opinion?
Yeah
It was good
I really like it
I saw some of it
I have mixed feelings
about it but overall good
And I see why people
Connected with it so much
A lot of great stuff going on
That's a good monologues
Esoteric video says
Favorite Red Letter Media Video
That's a good question
I love those guys
I have one
I really love the John Carp
ranking videos that they did
especially because when it came out I was working
still at Halloween Horror Nights
working in the Halloween maze

very fun I love the
Planket Baby's Day Out
or whatever it's called video
that's a really good one
yeah I'm classic episode one
Star Wars nice
instrumental yeah yeah
Jimmy Moss says
book question for Jack
who the fuck is
Jack. What do you think of Kazu Ishiguro's work? And for all, have you watched his work two films? Never Let Me Go! In The Raines of the Day, etc. Love Your Work and Congrats on 200. I have only read one Ishiguro, which was Never Let Me Go. I'd read that for a class and watch the film to compare the adaptation. I didn't really love the adaptation. It was fine, but the book is very good. You guys? No. Nope. Not aware. I'm so sorry. This is for Jack anyway.
Yeah, it's for Jack. I don't know why the fuck I answer that.
All right, Yasu Gap says, have you guys seen Remember Me, Jake would love it.
I've seen the ending.
Oh, that's the...
Just go, Good meme.
I know about the end.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a classic.
That's a good, that'd be a good rap.
That's the only part I've seen.
All right, and then we're going back to a couple of the TTS ones.
Where did we leave off?
Okay, right here.
Mm, nice and legal.
Thank you, Colquette.
I mean, Eli.
Thanks, Elo.
We'll.
Kyle's mom is a bitch.
She's a big fat bitch.
She's the biggest bitch in the whole wide world.
She's a stupid bitch.
If there ever was a bitch, she's a bitch to all the boys and girls.
Monday, she's a bitch.
On Tuesday, she's a bitch.
Oh, different venom in Cool Cat's context.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Are y'all dream?
drunk yet?
We're not drinking.
No, I was, we had a couple drinks last night, but like, I don't drink as much as I used
to nearly.
I would drink every day.
But, yeah, thank you.
Do you find that your consistent analysis of film on the pod alters how you perceive or appreciate
other artistic mediums such as books or music?
Thank you for all the commentary and laughs over the year.
Mars bars,
farts, and dies.
Cool, man.
I mean, yeah, the more you,
the more you like talk about
things in like an analytical way
and express yourself in that way,
that's exercising a part of your brain
that I'm sure carries over into other aspects, right?
It might not like change your gut opinions
and how you react to things emotionally that much,
but it can change how you like articulate things
and the more you kind of practice that
the better you become
explaining yourself.
Heaps of overlap.
If you're looking at portraits in a gallery,
you can talk about composition
or if you're reading a book
or like structure or dialogue
and you know, it applies and crosses over.
Yeah, I feel like just even being able to articulate
why something is good or bad
in having to explain that in a way that makes sense
to someone just helps you understand
and have like an open mind for lots of other
types of art.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
Hello from Serbia.
And remember, question everything.
Learn nothing.
So true.
Thank you.
Fuck you.
All right, guys.
What are your favorite older male-female anime whores?
Mine was hell.
Lo!
Not nurse.
Goodnight, everybody.
What the fuck is the question?
I don't know your favorite
older male female anime
horse? I don't know. What's the
horse in B-Stars Season 3 named? Sure,
that one.
It's cute. I'm a fucking awesome. I like that horse.
I love that horse.
That was wonderful.
Yeah, thank you.
So just an FYI, everybody in chat,
we are approaching the end of these
questions and comments. If you want
Any more
Questions read or whatever
I would recommend clicking the link in the description
And it'll get red as a TTS
And we're going to stop in probably like five minutes based on how close to the end we are
So yeah last chance forever anybody
If you want your shit red today you got to do it now
Because we're going to be pecking it up pretty soon
But we might be able to do a little little bit if you guys are yeah

no but it's on my list
and I would love to watch it
and I'm looking forward to it
very much
yeah I think about that it seems up my alley and I don't know why
there's something beckoning me to it in a familiar way
Tomahads have you guys heard of the anime movie named memories from 1995
it's an anthology film one part written by Satoshi Khan the other part
directed by Kasuhiro Otomo the director of Akira
I feel like that's on my list yeah I think it's on mine too
yeah so we'll watch it at some point
thank you but we haven't seen it yet
nice um
Mike Eel Jake have you read
Aunt Kind by Charlie Kaufman
slash Adam did you ever finish it? I have not finished it yet
I see it right there I have not finished it
to work I have not read it
no no I'm like I'm
I've read a good chunk of it
it takes me a lot to like
get through a book and it's not because books are bad
I'm just like you can say books are bad
no it's not it's not that books are bad
It's not that books are bad.
It's just that there's so many things, right?
There's so many things and I feel like I have to be in the right, like, mindset or mind frame.
Even if I'm, like, listening to an audiobook, there has to be, like, something that aligns with me being in that headspace, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
And so I haven't abandoned it.
And I would love to continue it.
And there's a lot about it that I've written in my notes for like reference for like the syneciccic and stuff
I don't know why this takes like a little bit to refresh you. Yeah, I can see one is that one's to you here
Austin what is your answer to the trolley problem?
I thought the idea was that you have multiple
choices with the trolley problem. Well, yeah, what's your answer?
Do you kill like one guy or two guys?
One. So yeah, well, but then if it's one,
you interfered with what would have happened.
So you can save a person by interfering, but you're killing a person.
You're killing someone by saving someone.
That's why it's a trolley problem.
Right.
So I would do nothing because I think of the question very literally and autistically.
And I go, no, as soon as I'm showing up and doing something,
that I'm legally liable and culpable for, yeah.
So if I'm controlling that, then I've killed someone.
Whereas if I don't do anything, I'm not going to be held liable for the extra person dying.
Because in court, they're not going to say, oh, you should have killed that other guy to save them.
No, they're not going to say that.
You're not going to be held liable for not stepping in if the result is killing someone else.
You will be held liable for murdering.
I've never considered it through the lens of law, if I'm being honest.
Well, I mean, yeah.
I feel like you've thought about this a little too much.
Story of my fucking life.
Have you been around trolleys lately?
Have you been...
Too many trolleys?
Okay.
What about you, Jake?
Do you kill people?
Oh, yeah.
I don't care.
Okay.
YMS highlights, Olivia.
Adam likes Scar, a Nazi,
and Jafia from B-Stars are racist.
Hmm, suspicious.
See, I don't remember what their political beliefs are.
No.
Thank you YMS highlights for highlighting this problematic creator.
How fitting.
remember the horse being racist but whatever he's cute um matt the skater for

kind of that's how good it is uh Nintendo Lego boy any you guys vibe with Shakespeare
Fave play bionical mask of life yeah true
I don't know, are you a fan of stories?
Stories existing.
You kind of have to be like some kind of a fan of Shakespeare.
I'm not a fan of Shakespearean dialect and it turns me off of things because I don't understand.
My brain shuts off when I hear it said in old and timey.
Do you have a favorite adaptation of Shakespeare, film adaptation?
Like direct play adaptation?
The Lion King.
No, no, like, like, I love.
Brian Brana's

It's one of my favorites
Really liked Hamlet

Kenneth Branagh
Yeah I like that one

then Brits kind of have to be.
Depends on who you ask.
Some people it means Americans, some people it means
white people. I don't fucking know.
I had to learn all of this after my, Emilia Perez.
I was like, what are they calling me?
What does this mean?
Blade Master, favorite subgenre of horror and fave films in it.
Horror comedy. Evil Dead 2.
What do they call the...

Yeah, that's what they call it. Thank you.
Yeah.

So like Nightmare and Elm Street included and also like Hellraiser stuff.
Yeah.
And then
They might have said a naughty word
I don't know
And then yeah
We're going to go back to some of the
TTS ones
We have a couple left
And since these are pouring in
Relatively slowly

But FNAF is the true one.
All right.
Link in the description if you want to hear the TTS.
The TTS is the fun stuff.
Also, we get more of the cut of the revenue if you do that.
YouTube doesn't take it.
I really like this person who just donated 20 bucks and said,
have you seen Starship Trooper?
Thank you, Niers.
Thank you, Nears.
Yes, we have.
And there's a great episode.
Thank you for the,
$20. Thank you, man.
I don't know

Yes. Ross, what does y'all's
take on Michael Mann's Secret Moodtone Masterpiece
the 2006
Docu-Impressionist, Proto Digital Experimental
Film by Emmy Vice? I haven't seen it.
What? I watched it so long ago. I have
no idea. Yeah, no idea.
I'd like to see it. It's become like
a Twitter meme. Like everyone
I don't know. I don't know why.
It's not like, it doesn't, it's not.
Yeah, I kind of like it.
I'm a little nostalgic for Michael Mann's, like,
early digital style at that point,
but, like, I'd rather watch, like,
was that one with Tom Cruise?
Collateral.
Yeah, collateral.
Like, I'd rather watch collateral sooner than Miami Vice.
Thank you.
Cornstar,
thank you for the 10 bucks.
Thank you, you guys.
For many hours I have spent listening.
Jake, glad to have become a fan of yours when you got on here.
Keep it up.

Well, when the streams ever, we're going to hang out a little bit.
But yeah, Jake's only here for like a tiny bit because he's got a lot of normie responsibilities.
Yeah, we're leaving early tomorrow morning.
But you made it out here and that's what fucking counts.
That's right.
That's what family is about.
It's about family.

Thank you, Eli.
Cool.
I'm assuming that's a lovely masterpiece.
All right, we're going to go back to some of the,
we got two new TTS.
Get more TTS guys.
TTS is the way to go.
See a lot of superchats.
YouTube's taken like fucking 60% of each of those.
40% of each of this.
85%.
YouTube's taken 99% of all the money.
That's not by 9%.
Come on, man.
Freddie Fazgiat is going to break the box office.
Fnaf 2, baby.
A billion dollars opening day.
Get out of here with that woke crap,
one battle after another.
More like one gay after another got him.
Matthew Pathew is going to have me climaxing in the theater.
I'm happy for you.
Perfect.
Thank you.
And then, you know.
Who is the better actor?
M. Knight Shaman or Quentin Tarantino?
That's a good question.
I'm going to give it to M. Knight.
Yeah.
I'm saying Tarantino.
I mean, he also writes himself parts, like, you know,
licking Salma Hayek's foot, you know?
Yeah.
I buy that.
That's Quentin Tarantino, wanting to do that, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
So you're...
Finn Dogg has Alex ever seen Trapp Door British Claymation?
I have. Yes. Nice.
Yeah, cool.
Thank you. Archived. One of you guys watching All That Jazz, 1979? It's my favorite film. I would love to see your thoughts on it.
I see that one being recommended a lot.
Have you guys all seen it?
No, I have not, actually. I would like to.
Oh, it's one of my favorite movies.
Who directed it?
Bob Fawsey.
Cool.
Sweet.
Yeah, I've seen that one come up a lot.
So, yeah, we'd like to.
It's in the back, don't you.
Yeah, thank you.
Roy Shider.
Let's see.
You get me out of here.
I didn't do anything.
Help me.
Ah, fuck.
Thanks, Bardunk.
This thing rocks.
Give me out of here.
Oh, I love it.
When are y'all going to recommend all of Matt Pat's Nath, thereys?
Therries.
How many did he do of those?
Too many.
Many.
I don't care.
Many.
Okay, never, we're never recommending that.
Okay, you can do it if you want. I'm never going to do it.
Orgasmo, Bays, Kipal, double feature.
Interpretation.
Basically, what is baseball?
That's, um, orgasmos is the early film.
Hmm?
Just trying mats like early film, right?
Yeah, well, what about basketball, though?
I think that's another one, right?
Okay.
I don't know why base is.
Yeah, orgasmo, I remember not loving.
It looked kind of rough.
I didn't know anything about basketball.
And then Frosty Griffin with a $20.
I love your shit, Adam, and Alex.
Jake, you're new, but I'm glad to have found your channel.
Aw.
Nice.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
And then, yeah, we got a heart out in like seven minutes.
Everybody, if you want your questions in, you got to do it, okay?
And try to do TTS.
The link in the description.
TTS.
That's the better one because it sounds funnier and we make more money off of those.
Sputosaurus.
Who's the most underrated and overrated directors?
Overrated?
Yeah, Zach Snyder.
There's nobody with a name that big that should be that bad.
And then underrated like, I don't know, I'll probably have to think of some like new up-and-coming.
I guess, yeah, how do you define underrated unknown or just like not getting their dues?
You know what?
Yeah, underrated.
I would say underrated would be not getting their dues.
because like
quadalino
yeah
what a guadino
quagnino
no he's
he's pretty
yeah people
he's big
he's respected
he's an Oscar boy
I would say
David Bruckner
is too underrated
I think he needs
to be
like with as much
power to make
the films that he wants
as like
any one of the
A24 horror
directors
you know
every time
David Bruckner's
made a movie
I've been like
wildly impressed
by like at least some element of it.
And I was hoping that the new Hellraiser would be like,
oh yes,
finally people see the potential and talent here,
but people just didn't like the movie.
I don't know why.
But I love David Buckner.
He's awesome.
Yeah, that's cool.
I feel like Walter Hill.
It's kind of underrated.
Who's that?
Director of like, he made the Warriors.
Oh.
Older.
No, I know what you're talking about.
Overrated?
I mean, I don't.
That's really tough.
Wes Anderson.
I love Wes.
Did you guys see a Phoenician scheme?
Yeah.
