Starting point is 00:00:03 Samantha Blake clutched her handbag, her slender, manicured fingers gripping the leather of the purse, as if it were the only thing keeping her to the ground. She knew she had no reason to be nervous. If anything, the staff so far had been friendly, if not a bit overtly professional. Even the tall, dark-haired man and the pristine doctor's coat in front of her, pouring over a file of headshots, had been surprisingly welcoming. He had even offered her a glass of cucumber water and pulled out a rather comfortable office. his chair for her to sit on. She was a veteran model. Twenty years in the industry had taught her
Starting point is 00:00:38 well on the subject of reading people's faces, seeing the little telltale expressions in the eyes and lips. The way the man's narrow almond eye squinted ever so slightly at the corners, how his lips would wet themselves as if preparing to say something before suddenly going silent. Yes, Samantha knew exactly what they were thinking of her. That alone was worse than any explicit threat they could have made to her. Well, Miss Blake. Dr. Bittner's voice was calm and collected, sharp as a scalpel, yet as soft as gauze. I can give you good news and the bad news.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Which one would you prefer to hear first? Samantha swallowed hard, washing back the sour bile that rose up from within her stomach. She prayed that her shaking would easily be written off as being the result of the coolness of the room. I'll take the bad news. your body is aging at a perfectly healthy rate. The way Dr. Bittner spoke, made the mundane sentence sound like a judge reading off a death sentence. He poked a finger at the mess of headshots and medical papers that littered his desk. You are aging at the expected rate of any average 50.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Excuse me. 49, your old woman. Despite what you've tried to do, the surgeries you've had done, there's actually very little that can be done to naturally slow or prevent you from growing any older. To put it bluntly, Miss Blake, you're pushing 50, and there's not a whole lot that you, me, or God can do about it. Samantha nearly shot up from her chair, but she had managed to stabilize herself. However, her shaking had increased, and she could feel herself getting her $2,000 teeth in unconscious stress. Are you telling me that there's nothing you can do? That I came
Starting point is 00:02:22 all this way? Just to hear you tell me that I should just accept the fact that I could lose my job, my life and be happy with it? No, I wouldn't put it like that. But you're at in Metropolitan. She swallowed hard again, her ruby red lips trembling as if she were about to burst out into fury or sobbing.
Starting point is 00:02:42 It said you could do anything, anything. I paid $10,000 just for the appointment alone, and all you're telling me is that you can't help me? Do you understand what's at stake for me here? One wrinkle, one gray hair, and they'll decide I'm finished. everything I built, everything I sacrificed for gone overnight. Do you have any idea what I'm going up against here? Do you?
Starting point is 00:03:04 Dr. Bittner tented his fingers and looked the aged model up and down. His face still is calm and is organized as the moment he saw her. Then he let out a warm chuckle and shook his head, almost as if the sight of the frantic Samantha Blake amused him somehow. Relax, Miss Blake. Relax. You're right. Yes. We had Bernini as Do promise to do anything we can to make our clients look like a brand new person. And indeed, we can help you. No question about that.
Starting point is 00:03:35 It's just that we can't be expected to simply turn back the clock and make you look 22 forever. Not even the best plastic surgeons would be capable of that. I still don't understand. Samantha rapidly opened and closed her eyes, hoping that the heat on her lower eyelids were merely tears of excitement and not thick dark streams of rouge and mascara running down her. cheeks. If you can't make me look younger, then what can you possibly do to help me? At this, Dr. Bittner rubbed his salt and pepper beard in thought, standing up to walk over towards his client. He seemed to be
Starting point is 00:04:09 looking at her from all angles, her top, her bottom, the left and the right. His eyes gazed through his sleek glasses with extraordinary precision, and for a moment, Samantha felt as if he had gazed straight through her. Let me put it to you like this, Miss Blake. We're feeling. We're focused more on the idea of making something new than we are about trying to repair what's already damaged. He gestured to a vase of flowers sitting on the nearby table. Take that vase, for example. If it were to fall on the floor and break into a thousand tiny pieces, what would you do? You could spend hours, painstakingly long hours, mind you, carefully gluing and sticking every piece back together until it looks somewhat like it did before. Even then, it's never quite the same
Starting point is 00:04:55 is what it looked like in its naturally pristine condition. All the cracks, the marks, the unevenness of the pieces, all that time wasted just for something no one would ever use again. But here at Bernini aesthetics, we came up with a better solution to the vase problem. Rather than try to sculpt and paste all those pieces back together, why not make the vase into something new? There's no chance that the vase will ever be as good as it once was undamaged.
Starting point is 00:05:24 so the possibilities for it to be an entirely new, original form of its own becomes limitless. Why not melt the pieces of the vase back down into their original materials? Why not take all those tiny fragments and paste them into a mosaic? Instead of trying to do the impossible and restore something back to its original beauty, we can transform a person to be an entirely unique form of aesthetic attractiveness. Other plastic surgeons can only give you the illusion of looking unique, but we can make you into someone that would truly be one of a kind, provided of course you are willing to.
