Starting point is 00:00:04 Good morning, Omaha. You're tuning in to KNGBFM, bringing news and music to the Cornhusker State and beyond since 1986. As always, I'm your host, Casey Rogers. And for anyone still able to tune in, I welcome you back to the program. It's 10.02 in the morning, November 18th, 1991. Temperature is a cool 17 degrees, wind chill of about negative 11. With what we got hit with last week, this will probably seem like it's summer again. But I'd still bundle up, wear your lead suits, keep the short shorts for another time. Cold kills, you know. Before we get started for today, I got some updates on the desk for older news. First off, the provisional governor's office has heard your complaints about the water issue.
Starting point is 00:00:55 According to the latest report, fresh water will be delivered from zone to zone starting on the 19th. says, and we'll go based on population. If you're listening to this in and around the North Platt area, for example, you might have a week, say, week and a half until they come around. And in the event, you might be considering traveling out towards Lincoln or Grand Island. The governor's office says to remain in place. I repeat, remain where you are. You're better off staying where you are than trying to make the journey until fresh, drinkable water is delivered. Follow the instructions for basic water purification. in your DES handbook
Starting point is 00:01:33 and try to avoid drinking from any natural unfiltered sources as much as possible. Second, travel on the I-480 will be restricted for the time being due to upcoming inclement weather. I know not many of you today can afford to take a drive around nowadays, radiation and gas prices and all,
Starting point is 00:01:52 but for those of you who might be attempting to cross over toward Iowa, you'll be stopped by the 92nd troop command reserves. Only United States provisioned, Government marked vehicles and personnel will be allowed to cross the I-480. The restrictions will be in place up until early March at the earliest, with the official end date still being discussed. Oh, in a bit of good news, I was able to find a few new cassettes. I know some of you are getting sick of the same old records and cassettes, so I went back into the archive room, or well, what's left of it anyway, to see what else I could find.
Starting point is 00:02:29 And I found, get this. can't believe it myself. The broadcast tape for the 1979 Orange Bowl. I'm serious, folks. I'm holding it right here in my hand. I think it might have been sourced from, oh God, I think it was KFAB. Yeah. Looks to be in pretty decent condition. So after the show, I'll see how it plays in full. I know, I know. Of all the Orange Bulls, it's the one where Nebraska gets run out by those Okies. But it's been so long since we heard anything about football on the radio since 79 and sheesh, I think there isn't even any NFL anymore. So I think this will be a good trip down memory lane for some of you older folks out there.
Starting point is 00:03:13 And besides, kids still like football nowadays, right? Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they do. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. We've still got the morning report, the weather, and... Seems like we got an early caller today. Hello, this is KMGBFM, Casey Rogers. What can I do for you today?
