Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a Dear Media production. From Vanderpump rules to motherhood and everywhere in between. Warm up the kettle, it's time to spill some tea. Let's get into some shenanigans with Sheena Shay Hello everyone, welcome back to shenanigans It's been a minute since my hubby Brock has joined me in the studio, but we have the nanny today and a lot of questions from you. So I say we jump right in. How we doing, honey?
Starting point is 00:00:56 I'm doing good. I'm doing good. I just checked on my coffee, but I'm doing good. Wrong pipe. I really like the hair now that it's growing out. You've got like the frosted tips late 90s early 2000s you look like you could be in a boy band. I yeah, I can see that I can definitely see that I don't know what the trends were back in back in the day
Starting point is 00:01:18 You just need like a tribal tattoo across your arm and then you're in okay Okay, 98 degrees Backstreet Boys and sink LFO across your arm and then you're in. Okay. Ninety eight degrees. I'll go for it. I'm in. Okay. Ninety eight degrees. Backstreet Boys, Nsync, LFO. Which boy band would you have been in? They were all boy bands? Yeah, honey. Oh, I mean, I would like, I've been in Nsync and Backstreet Boys with them
Starting point is 00:01:37 until I actually knew that were boy bands. You said Nsync first. That's because we've got our boy from there. Yeah. What about your boy Kevin? Well, listen, Kevin's my boy too. And he's engaging, we chat through social. So, what were the other bands?
Starting point is 00:01:54 98 Degrees. What songs do they sing? Nick Lachey, oh my God, Honey, so many. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, and then, all right, moving on. Moving on. So, I posted for questions.
Starting point is 00:02:08 There's just a lot of random questions. And I say we just try and get through as many as we can. Short responses. Yeah. How was Halloween? How did you spend the day? What were your costumes? What did you pass out to trick or treaters?
Starting point is 00:02:23 So we were supposed to all be a skeleton family together, but our very independent little daughter decided it was so cute. I don't think you were in the car. I think you were pumping gas. And she goes, actually, Mommy, this is my plan. I was a skeleton yesterday for dance and a pumpkin for school, so tonight I'll be a werewolf for trick or treating. That's my plan.
Starting point is 00:02:48 And it was so cute. I was like, well, of course I packed all costumes for her because I thought she might change her mind. But I was like, oh, you don't want to be like a skeleton family. She's like, that's OK. I did that yesterday. You and daddy could do that. So everyone else in the family was a skeleton except summer the little werewolf little werewolf I think I think it's so great when she comes up with her little with plan plans
Starting point is 00:03:10 I know it's her plans now and just like seeing her growth with everything is fun to kind of like let her Stick to her plan like I'm gonna do this. It's fine Yeah, even though it's not the norm for her to have that I think that's a really cool sign in parenting or in her showing that independence and showing kind of like, and listen, this is a one off maybe. Yeah. But if she continues to do it, you know, it's pretty cool that we get to notice it and see it. Yeah. So I just added my red riding hood to my skeleton and I just was like dead red riding hood with the werewolf. You asked for photos. Yeah. We did our best. But also I saw there was another question that asked about how summer got the boo-boo on her face
Starting point is 00:03:48 When we were passing out candy to trick-or-treaters I think she enjoyed giving out candy honestly more than walking around and getting it I that's one thing from that weekend from it going out there and put it in that time drive out there for it It's the fun part. We could take off your family But also someone gets to get a sense of giving instead of taking candy, which then all of a sudden that changes the whole, I think, in our household with her,
Starting point is 00:04:13 she's not really, oh cool, candy's there. She's not about the candy. She's about, she sat there for like two hours giving out a piece of candy every second for everybody and it was just like, it was the cutest thing ever. Yeah, it was like, honey, it's getting dark. You wanna go trick or treating now? was just like, it was the cutest thing ever. Yeah, it was like, honey, it's getting dark. You want to go trick or treating now?
Starting point is 00:04:27 She's like, no, mommy, I'm passing out the candy to the kids. I was like, okay, just let me know when you're ready. And like 10 minutes later, she was ready. And that's the best part, right? You go, let us know when you're ready then. And she, okay, later do a thing. And then she'd be like, all right, I'm ready now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And so while passing out candy, at literally the very end of the night she leans over to put it in the little kids bucket and There was a stroller right there. She kind of fell off the chair she was sitting on hit her face on the stroller and Had a bit of a it was almost a black eye. It's just like a scrape now. It looks almost like a rug burn Yeah, no, I think she uh... She's badass. I didn't see that happen. You saw it happen. She was upset.
Starting point is 00:05:08 I did. I know and it didn't even look that bad. It was like she barely bumped it. It's not that bad. It was just where she did. It's not that bad. It was just a scratch on her eye. Yeah. Coming from Australia, what does Brock think of the holiday here in the US? Like holidays in general? No, I think Halloween because obviously the first year we were together I flew to Australia and we were there on Halloween and
Starting point is 00:05:28 They're trying to make it more of a thing. I've so have heard. It was more of a wig or ears situation, not a full costume. I like Halloween. Halloween's fun. I do miss like how we get like when we used to go to like the Halloween parties. So maybe next year we get ready for that. Cause we've got the perfect setup. We do the trick or treat with the family and then we can leave summer there and then go do our thing. This year we didn't do it, we're just busy. But I like it.
Starting point is 00:05:52 I enjoy Halloween. It's one of my holidays I like. I think the holiday season gets pretty hectic with the family and seeing everybody. So that becomes overwhelming sometimes. But hey. Welcome to the holidays. How is summer liking your new house?
Starting point is 00:06:09 Let me tell you, she also misses our old house. And it made me sad a few weeks ago when she was just like, but I just miss our old house. And I'm like, yeah, honey. And this is what I just I love her so much. And I was like, well, you know what? The old house, we didn't, like this playground in the background and your own playroom. And I'm trying to like really sell this house on her.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And she goes, but I don't need all those things. And I was like. There's conversations that come out of her mouth where she's just like towing the line. She wants to see if I can manipulate the situation. And I see it all the time. And that's one of them. She's like, well, I'm just gonna play the situation. And I see it all the time. And that's one of her problems. She's like, well, I'm just gonna play this card.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And she gets it though. That's the crazy thing. She understands kind of her tone and delivery. And I enjoy watching it and listening to it. I'm like, oh really? Yeah, cause it's like, she loves the new house. And I remember the week we moved in, she hugged me and was like,
Starting point is 00:07:02 thank you mommy for buying us this house. But then for her to be like, I don't need all of this. I wanna go back to our little one. I'm like, well, that's not happening. Someone else lives there now and we bought this house. But she does love it. How do you navigate letting other people besides your mom watch your daughter if you did?
Starting point is 00:07:24 Well, Gabby is with our daughter today. She's been with her for, what, like a year and a half now? Yeah, but I wouldn't say consistently. Every other week. Yeah, every other week. But to answer their question, we don't. Otherwise, she's with me, you, or my mom. We also just haven't really looked for someone else yet.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I think she's at the age now, but it's like she's also in school. You know, she's in three days a week now. Next year, she'll be in five days a week. Would you want to look? I just don't think we need it as much as we did in the past. Now that she's in school. What makes you say that? Because we schedule our things around when she's in school.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Yeah, I think we do. I think, I mean, there's a difference though. I think we don't need like a nanny. We need someone that like on the tutoring side, but at the same time, now that we have a plan for summer in school, she's gonna start going more. I think that will help a lot, but that's not gonna come till July.
Starting point is 00:08:17 So again, I think we, yeah, Erika and having a family there with Summer's great because we know that she's gonna be happy and rara Taking care of it's just all of the other things that come with that What activities this summer do Anyway any particular talents or interests that you're seeing Emerge well, she loves to dance tap ballet., ballet, she loves swimming, she just started gymnastics. She's into it all.
Starting point is 00:08:48 But like, honey. I saw it. This school photo. Yeah, has everyone else seen it? No, I haven't posted it yet, but we just got, I'll pop it up in this video, her preschool photo. How did you get that? I paid for it, gave them my email, and they sent it to me.
Starting point is 00:09:04 You didn't fill out the form. Because I don't need to, I want you to do that. Can you send that to me? You're a hoarder. I showed you first of all, sir. I sent you a Dropbox link of all of the photos from our photo shoot with Mona. Have you posted one of them?
Starting point is 00:09:17 Because I- No? I sent you all of them. It wasn't about posting them. They were just for me to have. I have them, I don't have this stuff. You haul it out on all the good photos. I got it last night. You hold out. I ran immediately downstairs And I said we made a perfect human and you loved it And then you continued your phone call that you were on and so I was like, all right, I'm gonna keep it for myself
Starting point is 00:09:37 Okay. Yeah, I will post it on summer's page first Would you like to collab with us? This is a hierarchy of content. Or does it throw off your DIY content feed? I threw that off when I started swimming. Sorry guys. Can you give me some love on the Iron Man stuff? Come on. Yeah, well, yeah, let's talk about that.
Starting point is 00:10:00 So how is training going? Because the last time I did a solo podcast, I got asked about that But now that you're here, let's talk about it. You just showed me a video and I asked you if it was in slow motion He's been just you it was Okay, first off I have to I think I'm just gonna put that out there like I'm Sink or float. Yeah, and like my coach is like gonna be more streamlined. I'm just gonna put that out there like I'm 250 pounds. Like the game in the summer plays, sink or float? Yeah, yeah. Daddy sinks.
Starting point is 00:10:25 And like my coach is like, go to be more streamlined. I was like, bro, I'm trying here. I'm trying. He's like, there's a dip in your back. I was like, that's just my ass. Like I'm just... Like it's just like this is as streamlined as you're gonna get for a freaking oil tanker. And so it's hard. It's really difficult. And then like last week I had a bad week because I miss training on Thursday and I didn't get out and I didn't do it There's certain times where I have a lot of fun with it because like it sucks But then I do it and then I come out I feel better and then the next day I follow up with it
Starting point is 00:10:56 And I keep doing it and then I fall off very easily very easily slight slight slight hiccup and I think I got a and Then I put it so I got a prioritize that Part of it, but I really enjoy it I was talking to Schwartz about it the other night like with all of our life and craziness we have yeah It just helps me escape for an hour. I used to play video games love I still miss for that but like playing video games is a great way to just not think about What you're doing right. They talked about this. They said there's a stat that if you're,
Starting point is 00:11:28 they did a study on doctors, surgeons, and they were 28% or 26% higher performers if they were to play video games as well. Interesting. How great is that? Yeah. So long story short, I just, I enjoyed the Iron Man aspect of just
Starting point is 00:11:44 for an hour, for half an hour I have nothing like as silence as my head Yeah, and I'm just embracing the suck and and trying to swim and trying to like breathe the whole thing But now you're not gonna let me buy a bike. We're gonna talk about that No, there's an Ironman and control involves three things swimming running and on a bicycle. What was Guys, bicycles are expensive. What did we say? You have to sell one bike to get another. Well, I agree. Can I tell you, when I was playing poker, I'm in a poker group now, guys, I've wanted to just keep
Starting point is 00:12:14 signing that in. I wanted to be in a poker group for like a minute. Just where a group of people come together and a good friend of ours, Jordan, and his mates have been doing it on and off for 18 years. Oh, wow. I didn't realize it's been that long. Yeah, and then so loved it and then I got to go in there and it's just in it at his house And you know when you got a oh we have poker nights. It's just like yeah I used to work them. This is a crappy poker night. I worked nice ones. But these were legit This was a legit everyone was actually like, you know, they have a girl they're doing shoulder massages
Starting point is 00:12:41 We didn't have what we didn't I may have to introduce that one. But no, it wasn't like that. Everyone pays $10 for a hosting fee to him. He brings food, he's got candy, and we play poker. It was great. It was great. So I'm just trying to find my way in life and find me. Yeah, well, speaking of Jordan,
Starting point is 00:12:56 he sent in a question and says, who would summer say is good cop and who is bad cop? Who is that to me? Cause that's a rhetorical question? No, literally. Hey Brock, who's is good cop and who is bad cop? Who is that to me? Because that's a rhetorical question? Jordan asked the question. No, literally. Hey Brock, who's a good cop? Me. I'm the good cop. You think you're a good cop?
Starting point is 00:13:12 I'm a good cop. You're a bad cop. Well, okay. The problem with being a bad cop is you're a bad cop. I think out of the two of us. I'm the bad cop? Yeah. Yeah, I'm the asshole that has to like lay down the law because you just enjoy just sunshine and rainbows and there's all butterflies and she's perfect.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I'm just like, you know, if she stays up a little past her bedtime, that's OK, because she's only a little once. And I'm enjoying these moments with her. It's like she's going to have more impact in her life when she learns accountability and self like self confidence and all these other things that come from not giving in to these little moments because we're not it's not about now it's about her future. And you know what that's why we're a great balance honey.
Starting point is 00:13:55 We're going to take a little break and be right back. All right everyone the holidays are upon us they're going to be here before we know it and look whether you forget to take a sip of water during that office holiday party or maybe you start feeling a little parched after a long day of traveling or hosting, keeping Liquid IV on hand to stay hydrated is what is going to help get you through the holidays because I know that is what I am counting on. Starting point is 00:17:14 I feel like I've talked about this a lot on the podcast, but where did the name Summer Moon come from and what other baby names did you guys like? So originally I wanted her to be Summer Rain because she was my rainbow but when I was in Acupuncture one day I had this epiphany and I didn't know if she was a boy or a girl and I was like you know what if the baby's a boy I think we save the name Rain and we do that for a boy name and then we ended up becoming really good friends with our friends Will and Elaine who had their surrogate pregnant and their daughter's name was gonna be Rain and now
Starting point is 00:17:48 That name is gone. But that was really the only other one that I had at the time Well, we love we love our friends Will and Elaine. No legend. We were gonna name her legend. Remember and call her Al Yeah, that was in there. Yeah, because she was a little legend that rainbow, baby Well, we will on the lane took our other name too Owl. Yeah, that was a nap. Yeah, because she was a little legend, that rainbow baby. Well, we, Will and Elaine took our other name too. For her horse. She named her horse. I know, she didn't, the thing is,
Starting point is 00:18:11 she didn't even know that was on my list of names. Always loved the name Xander. So I have a thing for just like the TV shows that I watched growing up and naming kids after characters on TV shows. There was Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Summer is from the OC. And I'm not going to tell you guys the other one because it is also a TV character name.
Starting point is 00:18:35 But if we do have another kid, I'm keeping that one. I'm obviously like on the on the summer name, it was just because for you, it had different meanings. Exactly. You brought it up. And I was like, that's a great way to kind of obviously I'm straight with the kid. I was my older to but it's a great way for somebody to have that connection Yeah, you know winter and summer yeah Did you guys know Sosa's name in advance or were you left in the dark? What did you think of the name we did know it ahead of time? Yeah? I did maybe I didn't tell you yeah
Starting point is 00:19:04 I don't ask I don't ask it's private. It's no need for it. Like, I don't I didn't ask. She told me. I know. Well, yeah. Yeah, I just don't ask. I have those conversations. No, I think it's such a cute name. I love it. And obviously, I love names with S's. So how do you think the other parents at school feel about their kids being in a VPR kid class? Do you think any of them watch the show? I haven't we haven't noticed any conversation pieces around. Have you noticed that? I think I think it's been really fun because outside of VPR, like this is our second world, which is the school drop off system where we start meeting the parents of the kids show in itself. It's funny.
Starting point is 00:19:44 It's so and all the parents have different dynamics. The kids have different dynamics. And so like I haven't even thought about like because I feel like we were just kind of going into their world. Yeah. And how they and it was how are we going to respond to their way? Not not not kind of like what's it like with them being an outward. It's not that at all.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I think it's a really fun set up that the school has. Yeah. And with and then with the parents, we're freaking, you put a text message out and we're, and all of a sudden we're going to these events here, we're going together. I know, it's so fun. We're doing trips together.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And also, I mean, there are parents and kids in this school who are much more well known than us. So I don't feel like it's like a VPR class, you know? Some cool kids and some cool parents at that school. And with the school that they're in right now, it's not like school. It's just it's it's pre. What do they call it? They're in preschool.
Starting point is 00:20:30 They're in preschool. And then it's like pre-K. Preschool, pre-K. So preschool, it's just really development. And then it's spaced over a week, but the kids aren't always in class on those same days. Right. Ocean and La La are. Ocean and Summer.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Ocean and Summer are. But you've got Cruz who comes and goes. I think he's on two of their same days. He's on two of the same days, yeah. Yeah, and so it's kind of a good mix. I think it's healthy for the kids to have that relationship with each other, but then also gives them the time to develop their social skills and grow into other relationships. Yeah. Do you ever see Randall or Jax at school drop off? Any awkward run-ins? Unfortunately, yes.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Have Jax and Randall come face to face at school? If so, did Jax bring up the money Randall has sent? They embraced each other. It was so weird. We were at our school barbecue. Marciano was with us and I was like, Marciano, go Eve's job. Go listen to like what they're saying.
Starting point is 00:21:20 And Jax was just talking about like being single and his new condo, his new car, he just got his trucks getting delivered. I was like, this is a bro. What do you. Doesn't this man owe you like seventy five thousand dollars and you're just like talk. What is what is happening? It was so weird. It's just like for me, that whole situation is just annoying, to be honest. I don't know how you've stuck around with like,
Starting point is 00:21:46 dealing with the Jax and Brittany of it all for so long. Because of Brittany, because I love Brittany. That's why we deal with Jax. Yeah, but Brittany even puts herself in a spot too sometimes, because she's really just wishy washy with her own self by setting those hard boundaries with him, and then let him get destroyed by him,
Starting point is 00:22:02 and he just walks all over her. Well, I also think they're trying to figure out how to co-parent, you know? This is a new world for them. Neither of them have been married and divorced with a child and a home before, you know? So I don't think we can really judge or say how they're dealing with it.
Starting point is 00:22:17 I mean, yeah, I am judging, actually. Yeah, so moving on. It just puts all of the friends in the sticky, like, for case in point. We're Team Brittany. I understand. Well of the friends in a sticky position. It does. But you know what? We're Team Brittany. I understand. Well, I'm not picking sides here. I'm taking care of like, whoever's doing the right thing. And the problem was when they were going for their separation and she was like, yeah, there's a hard, he can't be around him, rah rah rah.
Starting point is 00:22:38 And then when she gets caught up with her schedule, all of a sudden he just walks into school to pick up her kid. I'm like, there's a problem here. Yeah, I get that. And so that's kind of like- But you know what? I think she's doing the best that she can do right now. And I think she's just trying to figure out how to co-parent while still being a full-time working mom.
Starting point is 00:22:58 The girl's booked and busy, you know? The word on the street now is Jax is diagnosed with bipolar, correct? Correct. And then he's gained treatment for that Supposedly. Yeah Yeah, and so does that excuse his years of behavior? No, it doesn't excuse it Okay, it can explain some of it, but it does not excuse it Okay, some
Starting point is 00:23:22 Okay back to summer Some. Not all. Just great. Just asking. Okay. Back to Summer. Is Summer good about sleeping through the night? Okay. Let me tell you guys. So the night before last. I finally got her out of my bed in the morning. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:23:35 Now she's not in my bed in the morning. Because I was in her bed. Yeah, it's great. So she comes in at like 2 a.m. She walks in our room, gets in our bed, falls asleep in the middle of us, and then at 3 15 she wakes up and she's like, Mommy, Mommy, I'm having bad dreams.
Starting point is 00:23:51 I have them every night. And I'm like, Oh, honey, I was like, I'm sorry. What are your bad dreams? And she's like, about bats. And I'm like, bats? Like, I know it was just Halloween. And I was like, like, like flying bats, you know, like the animals. And I'm like making sure I'm hearing her correctly and she's like yeah bats and I'm like I'm sorry. I'm like, you know bats are just they're really sweet animals
Starting point is 00:24:14 They're just misunderstood and I'm trying to like I don't want you to be afraid of bats. I personally love bats and She was like, I don't want to sleep in your bed. I don't like your bed. I want to go back to mine I'm like, we're just scared of bats. Now. You don't like my bed like okay So I take her back to her room and then she's like, but will you stay with me and Her big girl bed is for big girls not adults. And so I just I mean, I'm petite enough Climbed in there with her and woke up at 7 a.m. with a light cramp. I loved it, I loved it. I was like perfect, she's out of bed.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Maybe if she continues to do that, I would suggest you walk back in there with her and say that's fine, but I'll be in here for five minutes till you sleep back. Honey, I was so tired, I was just like, I wanted to just go to sleep. I know, but you gotta understand. I get that.
Starting point is 00:25:04 In future, I will do that. I had an early day and I just needed to get some sleep. Let me say what I'm saying so you can hear it. She's already asking to get out of our bed again, which is what we want, and she's going back into her room. You gotta sacrifice that five minutes and be like, you got five minutes.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Don't fall asleep, don't get comfortable. I just cuddled her and it was so cozy. I understand that. And I had a leg cramp. This is the problem. It's me, hi. I just cuddled her and it was so cozy. I understand that. And I had a leg cramp. This is the problem. It's me, hi. I'm the problem. No, it's just like you complain about it later on for sure.
Starting point is 00:25:32 I'm not complaining. I thought it was sweet. It was just, I was, the bed is a little short for me. You're not complaining about it now, but like in the coming months to years, it will become a problem. Okay. Are your sleep patterns aligned?
Starting point is 00:25:45 If not, how do you balance that? She either doesn't understand what sleep is. Can I tell you that? She has no idea. First of all, sir, all week, I have been in bed before you. That's fine, because I- What time did you get home after James's show?
Starting point is 00:25:56 What time was that? 4.30 a.m., but technically 3.30 because the clocks went back. Yeah, I was with your sister. What's your point? I'm just saying that you aren't always going to bed early. So don't act like it's me. No, I understand that.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I'm not acting like that. I just understand the importance of sleep. You don't, that's what I said. I understand the importance of prepping this podcast and watching Real Housewives of every city, okay? Yeah. I can only do that after 9 p.m. when she's asleep. Oh, now we can talk about like scheduling. And then once watch one episode you gotta watch the next one and then I'm like
Starting point is 00:26:27 Wait now it's not OC now. It's salt Lake now. It's New York. Do you understand the importance of sleep? Beverly Hills is coming back to This is what I'm dealing with people I do honey and I get a solid six or seven hours, which is pretty It's not solid because she wakes us up. Excuse me If you put the oar ring on that you got when you get resized It's gonna tell you a new size and even mine It's it's crazy once you actually have numbers that tell you what you're doing with your sleep. Mm-hmm Okay, I know I will that's why I ordered it. It's just when it got over the knuckle It's a little small. So I'm gonna get one size bigger
Starting point is 00:27:04 What is your favorite thing to do with summer individually and together? Pop pot. I like that. That's what I was going to say. Yeah. Summer Moon and I have and mom, she has we have a pop pot place down the street from us. Yeah. So we do a little mini golf arcades with her. I love just going up in her room honestly and just letting her imagination take over and I'm like what are we doing today? Are we in Bluey's house? Are we in the Barbie Dream house? And just playing imagination you know?
Starting point is 00:27:33 It's something that I would always see when I wasn't a mom and I'm like I never want to play like make-believe with the kid or if a kid would try to do that with me but now with her I'm like wait Actually, I can enjoy this now cuz you want to try and encourage that but yeah, you want to kind of using her imagination And she's just so innocent and just seeing things through her eyes like we could just be up in her room for hours like These rules there's rules apparently of entering this kid's room, which she clearly told me the other night. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:06 So she comes upstairs, little upset. I was like, what's going on? She's like, I just want to go in my room by myself and spend some time myself. All right, cool, go for it. So she waited an hour. I was like, turn your light on. She turned the light on.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I was like, all right, you're good. So I stayed in my room. She was in her room. And then like 10, 15 minutes has gone by. I'm like, maybe I should just check what she's doing, what she's up to. Walk in there and put my head in, like slowly. I'm like, where is she? And she's's doing. What she's up to. Walk in there, I put my head in, like slowly. I'm like, where is she?
Starting point is 00:28:26 And she's in the corner and she looks up, she sees me. And she's like, go away, daddy, I want some space. I was like, all right, and I leave. And then mom comes in and mom just walks straight in. Hey, what are you doing? Sits down and plays with her. Fast forward 10, 15 minutes, I come back over. She's like, dad, what did she say?
Starting point is 00:28:41 She said, I don't like when you peek your head in and only people who walk in are allowed to play with me. Okay, don't be a creeper, okay? I'm fine. Yeah, she had enough space and so I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna go in, sit down, and I started playing. If she still wanted space, she would've told me to get out
Starting point is 00:29:01 and I would've got out. Perfect. But it worked. How do you guys manage to stay calm in this chaotic world while raising your beautiful daughter? How do you manage to stay calm in this beautiful daughter? I don't always, I really don't. But I think having the right people around me who are a good balance and who are a good balance and not yes people, which is frustrating at times, but I think I surround myself. The closest people in my life are not yes people.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I think for that one, it's just- It helps balance me. It's just reminding ourselves of what we have and what we're doing. And I have a very kind of like first person approach that because I can remember working on a dairy farm I can remember digging holes in the ditch I can remember like working on a job site and working McDonald's and working at City Beach and like doing these random ass jobs for my
Starting point is 00:29:58 whole life yeah and then and then to be able to like sit down and someone like going a United flight and then our faces are on this thing. It's wild. It's absolutely a blessing and it's just kind of like reminding myself of those things. Especially when like we have rough days and when tough gets exhausting. It's like what am I really upset or complaining about? Compared to like my struggle versus a normal person that's working all day and trying to do what we're doing Which is raise a kid raise a family like it's a tough spot out there. So yeah, we were very blessed Just reminded that remind myself of that someone I saw I think it was maybe on YouTube
Starting point is 00:30:36 Which other than the podcast comments on YouTube on the vlogs? It's usually mostly positive But I saw one where it was like, do you realize how lucky you are? Like you have a great husband and the kid you've always wanted and like da, da, da, da. Like, I hope you know how lucky you are. And it was like, but the way they said it, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:30:56 I absolutely do. I think that every single day when I look into Summer's eyes, I'm like, this is what I've always wanted. You know, you are an incredible husband, an amazing father, and I do know how lucky I am. So it was like, that person said that, and I'm like, I don't know what part of this vlog
Starting point is 00:31:14 or whatever you're watching gave you a different- I think it's also how you read it. This is the time you read that. Maybe they're like, oh, you know how incredible? They could just be like, propping you up, but you just read it in a different way. Years of reality TV. I got a question for you then honey.
Starting point is 00:31:29 We're talking about like comments and all that. How annoyed are you when you see this as someone checked on Sheena? Okay, at this point- The meme of someone checked on Sheena. At this point, I think it's iconic. I think that I'm a part of pop culture. I am a meme and I have gone viral
Starting point is 00:31:46 and I just see the funny sides of it. I'm like, it became this thing that everyone wanted to make so negative and like make fun of me. Like, oh, are you okay? That's what annoys me. And I'm like, yeah, actually, thank you for checking in. I've just now appreciated it.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Like I literally, and we'll pop this up too for those watching, I had a couple of friends send me, I think Queens I've just now appreciated it. Like I literally and we'll pop this up to for those watching. I had a couple of friends send me, I think, Queens of Bravo or someone posted it at the New York Marathon. Someone's walking with a giant sign that says, has anyone checked on Sheena? Iconic. I'm not. I'm going to get mad at that. Like, I appreciate when people check in on me.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I feel like the like the the the origin of story of it was is it like Based in just BS. Yeah, the fact that you can take it like that and run with it. Totally I think it's a good thing because It annoys me because like people just like it's at a point where people are just loving to hate on you. Mm-hmm That's it. There's no substance behind it. I go. This is funny. You guys are all fucking bullies Mm-hmm. That's it. There's no substance behind it. I go this is funny. You guys are all fucking bullies Yeah, okay first and foremost, so I'm glad you empowered that it pisses me off when I see it and like if I see it In public of are you alright? Have you checked on Sheena? If not, we were designing merch, but I think we just didn't come up with the right design
Starting point is 00:32:59 But now after seeing that I'm like, do we launch it? I don't know when I see it. It annoys me. So I wanted to ask you about that. I'm like, do we launch it? Comment below. I don't know. When I see it, it annoys me. So I wanted to ask you about that. No, honestly, honey, it doesn't annoy me anymore. I literally laugh at it and I'll occasionally chime in. Like there could be like an earthquake in China and someone's like, did anyone check on Sheena? It's funny.
Starting point is 00:33:16 I'm not offended by that. It just annoyed me that how you came around. Well, Sheena makes it all about herself always. It's like, because we're told to talk about our feelings openly and you you out of everybody are very open with your feelings. And so then and then and then people throw stones at you for being vulnerable like that. And so I mean, look, if they keep if you want to make it fun, then it's fun. They're like, I have to, you know, I'm not going to own it.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Yeah, I'm going to own it. I'm not going to cry about it every day. Election. Someone not gonna. Own it. Yeah, I'm gonna own it. There's gonna be one after the election. I'm not gonna cry about it every day. After the election, someone's gonna post it. They totally are. Someone's gonna post it back, and someone checked on Sheena. Check on me, please check on me.
Starting point is 00:33:51 It's gonna happen. Well, that's all right, let's check on Sheena while she takes a break. So I feel like too, going back to what you were saying with the has anyone checked on Sheena, it's like, I feel like people tried to start it as a negative thing. But now I'm not letting them have power over that.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Now I'm owning it. And I noticed this recently because I did a tick tock trend with then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like he hung a TV on the wall in seven minutes. You know, there were so many cringe moments to choose from The one that my sister picked it worked with the timing of the tick-tock on Tick-tock I noticed almost all of the comments were negative. This was our thing. You ruined it for us now It's not fun anymore. Mike
Starting point is 00:37:58 It's not fun that you can't make fun of me because I'm making fun of myself. Fuck you Okay, but then on Instagram everyone was like yes Queen then on Instagram, everyone was like, yes, queen, own it. And like everyone was like pretty positive about it. So I'm like, I'm gonna take the power back. Yeah, okay. I'm here for you on that one. You can take the power back and then anyone else that wants to talk shit, come see me.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Yeah. Come see me, bruh. All right. All right, are we doing hot questions? Yeah, there's a lot. So I just, I was giving you a card. If you wanna ask some questions, I've got lot. So I just I was giving you a card if you want to ask some questions I've got some. What is one thing you wish people understood about reality TV before labeling a villain?
Starting point is 00:38:31 I feel like there's so much more nuance and humanity to people you see on TV And it's like you only get part of the story that fits into the narrative. What was the question? What is one thing you wish people understood about reality TV before labeling a villain? That there's an editing floor that has hours and hours and tens of thousands of hours of editing just dropped on the floor.
Starting point is 00:38:59 No, for sure. But it's like, there is more nuance and there's also just more humanity to people than what you're seeing on TV, I'm saying. There's more to the story. You're getting, like you said, yes, an edit, a part of it. A part of it. But there's just, there's more to it.
Starting point is 00:39:16 So just remember that. You're only seeing what someone wants you to see. This is, I wanted to think of this as a question. What's your favorite body part of each other? Ooh, I like your booty. Oh, cheeks. Yeah, I was gonna say your heart, but is that's that's that's a body part, right? I mean, I guess technically I was just going you mean just physical. It doesn't say physical parts your lips Hmm. Yeah, I remember when we flew to Australia for the first time I do remember that and I got to the airport we made out it was
Starting point is 00:39:43 Phenomenal yeah, it was just fireworks. That was a tingle downstairs for sure. That was a tingle everywhere Are you hoping for new people on the next season of EPR? You know what that's kind of hard to say I'm just hoping for a new What's your what's your cliff notes on that? What are you looking forward to I think it's just this downtime is actually allowed for a lot more stuff to kind of like happen and everyone to work through their own things. Yeah. To give more substance to the story, because I definitely agree. Well, actually, I don't think anyone said this publicly, but I definitely think
Starting point is 00:40:18 there's so much more story to be told from you guys. I agree. I believe the audience is also waiting for that because they want to see the next chapter. And I think so that that's kind of my take on it. I'm looking forward to it. I mean, everyone's slowly getting back into their grind, taking on their own challenges and then getting back to finding their friendships, which has been great. And I've enjoyed that. Agreed. Who are your favorite friends that you've met on reality TV? That's a tough question. There's so many I've had so many like I mean MJ is one of the first people that come to mind because I was just with her this
Starting point is 00:40:52 Weekend and she was just on my podcast But it's like working in this space and just you know putting your whole life out there for everyone to scrutinize you can be Scary can be very frustrating at times, you know when you're misunderstood, but I Feel like this whole I mean especially with Bravo, but even outside of Bravo just like the community of reality TV people It's like it's so incredible how Unless you're in it. You don't get it You know and now I'm friends with some of the secret lives of Mormon wives girls and just like now they're in it, you don't get it. You know, and now I'm friends with some of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives girls. And just like now they're in this world that it's different when you're just on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:41:32 And there's just something really cool about being able to bond with people in this same industry, because there is nothing normal about living your life publicly and then watching it back. about living your life publicly and then watching it back. It's the only thing in the world where you gotta go back in time and relive it and, you know, learn from it and grow. So, I don't know if I have a favorite. There's a lot, but yeah. I'm trying to find... Chanel, you know, we were just at her daughter's birthday, Chanel West Coast, and she's from the MTV world,
Starting point is 00:42:09 but still in reality. It's like, I love that we've become friends with them and now our daughters are friends. And yeah, so many, the D'Amelio's. D'Amelio's a great one. They're amazing. They're a cool family with everything that they've gone through.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Someone asked, is Marciano related to you? If not, why is he always around? I don't know if he's done his 23 and Me yet, but there's a good chance we are related. I just call him my cousin because we probably are. All the Mexicans are related somehow, I feel like. When I did my 23andMe I had so many Quintanillas and I was like oh my god am I related to Selena? Never know. Jack said on his podcast that he's banged every girl he's been friends with so have you banged or were you never friends? Who all have you been with in that group? I can proudly say I have never banged Jax.
Starting point is 00:43:08 I have never done anything more than hugged Jax and rubbed some sunscreen on him one time. Thank God. Good old Jax Taylor. I'll tell you what, buddy. You better sled down those DMs because the girls are talking, mate. I know.
Starting point is 00:43:24 The crickets are cricketing. How do you actively track the locations of and keep tabs on everyone you know, but didn't know Tom and Raquel were having an affair? So this is also something we have talked about on the podcast in the past. I don't track people and trace them. I'm not refreshing my app like who's where, who's where. But it is how I was on to them towards the end of the affair. In January, there was a time where Raquel didn't
Starting point is 00:43:53 show up for something very important. And one of her best friends was like, wait, you have her location, right? Can you check? And it just said location not loading. Then I thought nothing of it. I called her she showed up late Another time I was like hey, did you make it home safe? And I'm like, you know what I could just check location not loading So I asked her why is your location off and she was like, I just prefer it that way and I'm like no You're hiding something and I'm going to find out what it is And that was when I started thinking they're up to something and a few weeks later it all came out But well, yeah, you kind of would talk to me about and I guess you did you didn't even know you were gaslighting me I started thinking they're up to something and a few weeks later it all came out, but well
Starting point is 00:44:25 Yeah, you kind of would talk to me about and I guess you did you didn't even know you were gaslighting me But you were like how dare you think that of two of your best friends. Yeah, and I was like, I don't know honey There's something fishy. I think something might be up. Well anyway moving on moving on Why does Brock wear shoe lifts and heels who the fuck said that? the boho Soul 90. Listen here, Boho Soul 90. If anyone wears shoe lifts, it's Jax Taylor. He does.
Starting point is 00:44:50 I wear heels. So does Tom Sandoval. I wear heels proudly. He does too. What's going on, guys? I can embrace the fact that you're just, you are what you are. I remember when I used to bartend with Tom at Villablanca
Starting point is 00:45:00 and I thought he was so tall and then the first time I was at his house and he was barefoot and I was like, am I not in heels or are you not in heels? Yeah, I think there's a difference between lifts and heels. Lifts are like hidden, you know, you're trying to like mislead people. It's like a padded bra.
Starting point is 00:45:15 I'm wearing three inch heels, bra. You know I'm up three inches. Like, it's not like I'm hiding that. I like it. Brock at Roya Badoia wants to know, why did you leave Mormonism? Oh, well, I didn't think it was kind of that much of a choice. It was more of values for me.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Like obviously, growing up in the church, my sister, our family itself, we were the black sheep. My parents tried to stay, my dad and my mom tried to stay together and then I was the youngest of five and then we split up. Parents separated and then we became the black sheep of our community because our parents separated and we lived in a very Mormon heavy town, Temple View in New Zealand. And then my brothers and my sister all started getting into mischief and then so it just
Starting point is 00:45:59 added to that label. And then as I got older, my sister came out as a lesbian and then I saw how some of my family treated her or talked about it. Again, black sheep, we got like kind of the outcast of it. And so through that, what I learned from being in the church was that, you know, family is forever. And so I was kind of struggling with that second part of it, whereas like, you know, you got to follow these rules. And I was like, all right, well, and then on top of that, like our parents being separated, we weren't really around the church as much as we were then. So it kind of was like an easy transition for me because I realized like, y'all are
Starting point is 00:46:34 crazy. And you're an asshole for speaking about my family like that, my sister. So it kind of, I kind of like took the best from it. And I think it did help create a good human in me. Yeah. And I'll carry one for others and just like pay attention even though I'm an asshole. I feel like a lot of people who have said that about growing up in the Mormon church, who aren't active anymore, have said at least it taught them like good values and morals, like growing up.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Yeah. I was a kid. Yeah. The stand by the iron rod is what they call it, which is the commandments and just doing the right thing. And so we try to do the best we can in the world we live in. But, um, no, I think the biggest push for me to leave was just to how my family was getting treated by the church. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Oh, I saw this one come in. I saw Brock in Nick Viles Instagram reel. Did y'all bury the hatchet? Why was it? Why was it in it? What reel? The Raising Canes event that we went to. He posted a reel and you're in it. So like, you're like kind of in the background of it,
Starting point is 00:47:30 but because we also posted from there, people obviously knew it was you. All right, well, okay, yeah. Cause he didn't kind of like pan to me, did he? I don't follow him anymore, so I didn't watch it, but I saw a couple of questions come in about it. Where do we start with that? I mean- So, was this to me or was this to you?
Starting point is 00:47:49 This, I guess it's to both of us. So I'll just say we did not talk to Nick at the event, but- Now there's a grown ass man that has said some things, tried to make merch off me and talking smack on me. Payroll husband merch for those of you who forgot. Yeah. Okay. And then, then he also, who asked that he talk smack on for trying to like market their kid or capitalize off their kid?
Starting point is 00:48:18 Oh, Bunny. Yeah. Bunny. Oh, I wouldn't do that with their kid. Next minute, this guy has a kid and she's three or four pages all over the social media with brands Yeah, so I will say that his wife Natalie could not have been more mature and more She was so nice, honey. No, I'm no I'm being honest. I was she showed more she showed more of She could not have been more respectful, more respectful, more mature than her other half. She walked up to us with her baby.
Starting point is 00:48:51 We had about a five minute conversation. She apologized for the merch, for things that had been said. She said, you know, I understand that sometimes when things are said on your show, you know, maybe that was something suggested for you to say. Maybe it's not always an original thought. And maybe we've judged you based on, you know, an edit basically. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:13 And she apologized a few times, said, you know, she obviously has a different perspective of life now that she has become a mother. We talked about kids for a couple minutes and she just said, you know, like, can we just kind of use the term we in as she did say we like we are sorry with his back to us the whole time. This is my problem with the whole situation. Yes. Thank you to her for coming to say yeah. And and and that actually showed maturity and it was amazing and I'm all I'm all file that the problem was was her grown-ass partner who was the The main issue with I have with it didn't they they clearly had a conversation to side like this is awkward We've seen these guys at multiple events and we just this is awkward. Yeah, I'm in the background of his freaking
Starting point is 00:49:58 Instagram reel. Mm-hmm. This is awkward and it is but we're not the ones right around making merch on talking smack on it Right, and so then is now why did you Merck that said you're giving me the egg? So there's that. Did we launch it? Yeah, we did. Oh, we're ourselves. Still, he came on. She came on up and he just sat there. And so for me, I respect her. Yeah. But it doesn't it doesn't change the fact that like Nick Vile just capitalizes off everybody else and
Starting point is 00:50:29 I'm not a fan of them. Yeah, not a fan of it. Well, you know what? I am a fan of honey What's that your DIY stuff that you have been at killing it in and everyone wants to know? Are you guys ready for a DIY TV show? Please say yes. When are we getting the DIY YouTube channel? What's Brock's favorite project to date? Least favorite, what do you wanna tackle next? Like everyone wants to know. Yeah, well, I have a plan. I have a plan.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Okay, Summer. Okay, I have a plan. Now in that plan, there's something that I wanna release and I'm working on it right now. So yeah, I think there's something cool and creative, very creative with it coming. So that was my real political answer to that. Didn't answer anything you asked me. My favorite project is The Fence.
Starting point is 00:51:15 When we pull in that bad boy, I'm like, yeah. Except for the dog piss mark on it, which is just like the bane of my... It's not Schwartz, it's crappy dog owners that just don't redesign. I was nice about it anyway. And then the bane of my existence on this DIY right now is attempting to go above and beyond with your starry night in your music studio. It's gonna look so sick.
Starting point is 00:51:37 But we're on like the 90% mark completion, so we're nearly there. Yeah. But I love it all, thank you guys. Please support it. I really have found my way. I think this is something I want to focus on doing outside of other ventures,
Starting point is 00:51:51 but this is kind of my hobby. And it's a great hobby, honey. I love it. You're crushing it. I love it. We do still have a few things we want to do in the house. We want to do our breakfast nook. We want to do a floating shelf,
Starting point is 00:52:02 but the house is like really come together and that's all because of you. Mm-hmm I think we can do like maybe bring some color into it somehow. No, I like it all white Inside the house you got the garage Okay, you didn't listen to me with anything in the garage you did what you wanted and I love it What did you want in the garage? I didn't know if I wanted it all black, but now that it is I love it You had a vision you made the vision come to life At Kristen Anne wants to know do you ever run out of energy? Does Brock match it? You seem like the Energizer bunny I do have a lot of natural energy and I don't usually run out of it. I
Starting point is 00:52:43 Think we match each other's energy quite well. Yeah. I don't know why, but I just don't turn off. Yeah. No. I love it. I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Life's amazing guys. Let's be real. The time we live in, what we're living with, like, yeah, okay, we've got some issues in the world, but like, if you look outside, like we're very blessed. We are. Okay, Miss Hannah Patty wants to know can we get a Christmas sleigh remix this year? So funny you asked about that Miss Hannah because this morning I'm in a
Starting point is 00:53:16 group chat with the boys and Lala and we are trying to figure out a day this week actually that we can write a new bridge for Christmas sleigh, not Bravo related, just to be classic gingerbread cookies and stockings hung with care, whatever. So you mean remove like the Bravo related stuff. Yes. And just make it a Christmas song. So we're going to write that this weekend, record it, and then we will be putting out a new version of that As soon as we can get it up on the streaming platforms. What's what's your next steps with all the rest of your music?
Starting point is 00:53:52 I have one more song to finish on the EP which we're also finishing at this month now that I've kind of got my voice Figured out and a bit of my range has come back. Yeah, you've got, what was the diagnosis that you had? It's just acid reflux. So now with the extreme diet changes that I've done in the medication that I'm on, my talking voice has improved so much. My singing voice is, I would say for me, like 85% right now, you know? Not at 100, I don't know that it'll ever be
Starting point is 00:54:23 what I would like it to be at 100, but just the work that I've been doing with my vocal coach, I think is really helping me. And you're also writing music that works for you. Yeah, exactly. Which I think the fans and the audience don't understand that aspect of it. That song you were given was written for somebody else.
Starting point is 00:54:44 Good as Go was written for somebody else. You made it your own. So I'm really looking forward to this. And like a lot of people talk smack on it. And I'm like, guys, like, why are you building a music studio? I was like, because when I see you with the team, with the band, it's a creative kind of outlet that you you kind of thrive in. Yeah. And I would support that all day.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yeah. So I'm looking that all day. Yeah. So I'm looking forward to it. Thanks, honey. Calverti Style wants to know if we ever located my car. Can we get an update on the stolen vehicle? Yeah, it's somewhere. No. Across somewhere.
Starting point is 00:55:17 That was an insurance claim and a check from State Farm. Thank you very much. Thanks, State Farm. We are planning to get a new car. I- I got a proposal for you. What? So can I take the the half of what we got from insurance and build myself a truck? No. We're gonna get another SUV it has the highest crash and safety ratings.
Starting point is 00:55:45 We're already getting that. Oh yeah. I thought you were saying like, You're getting your car. In replacement of. No, you're getting your new car. Okay. You're going to get that car. I'm just saying, I'm just going to take some of that insurance cash and do-
Starting point is 00:55:57 I thought we were going to build a Bronco. Well, a Bronco could be the second car. DIY- Let's finish the DIY house stuff first and then talk about building a car or a truck. Fine. Sound good? Deal. Shake on it. Deal. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Last question. Besides Summer Moon, what is your proudest accomplishment? For me and you? Yeah. Okay. I continually do myself from time to time, I think. My proudest accomplishment was. I mean, for me, it was walking onto it, like following that football dream. Yeah. That was one proud accomplishment I have because like my own family told me it was impossible.
Starting point is 00:56:37 No one helped me with it except for my mom. And then I ended up walking onto the Patriots, you know, it was pretty crazy experience Mm-hmm. I really wish that some of the things could have worked out with like the with through that process that didn't mm-hmm That's I'm proud of that. But then I'm also proud of like calm my resilience kind of bounce back from anything Yeah, yeah, I feel like I'm quite resilient to I have a good bounce back, right? Yeah I'm always bouncing back proud of how good'm always bouncing back. I'm proud of how good I am at bouncing back. I am proud of that because it's easier to quit. It's harder to keep getting back up, you know?
Starting point is 00:57:13 And I feel like I've been kicked down a lot, but I keep getting back up just like that song we wrote with Station Little. And some of my proudest accomplishments I'm currently accomplishing and everyone all be in on that soon. I think there's a big one when it comes to like, fine understanding that you're like, you know, your efforts are based upon you, you know?
Starting point is 00:57:38 If you are feeling upset about something, if you're not feeling like you're in a greater shape or your health is a concern. All of those things, you know, I think it's a reality of this is like it's a hundred percent everything to do with you. No one else can actually change that for you. You're the reason you're there. Like it's taken out accountability, like, oh, well, okay. And so then you have to then take, put the work into and I'm not directing this to you, I'm just saying to myself and to other people out there that complain about shit all the time.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Put in the work, brother. Do something. Yeah, the only thing stopping you is you. Yeah. Well, thanks, honey, for getting into some shenanigans with me. Always love having you in the hot seat, co-hosting, talking, chatting. It's pretty hot.
Starting point is 00:58:16 It's pretty cruisy, actually. You're pretty hot. Yeah, thanks, my love. It's the hair. Yeah, I love it. Well, thank you guys so much for listening and watching. We'll be back next week. Bye. Thanks for listening to Shenanigans with Sheena Shay.
