The following podcast is a Dear Media production.
From Vanderpump rules to motherhood and everywhere in between.
Warm up the kettle, it's time to spill some tea. Let's get into some shenanigans with Sheena Shay.
Because we're good as gold.
Because we're good as gold.
Because we're good as gold.
Because we're good as gold.
Hello everyone, welcome back to Shenanigans.
I am here with the one and only Kiki Monique.
You guys can catch her weekly as the host of Reality Check
on Radio Andy and also follow all of her pop culture takes
at the Talk of Shame.
I'm so excited because we are also joined in the studio
by below deck down under Captain Jason the number one guy
in the Bravoverse how we doing? I'm great thank you very much
and Keke nice to meet you again I know we had fun it was the Us Weekly
reality star of the year party I think is when I first met you oh yeah I didn't
go to that that you were at a pumpkin patch I think right that night we did we
had the Mr. Bones pumpkin patch and Janet was like, the Us Weekly party.
And I was like, I love you and you are a first season one and like go enjoy the party.
But I'm like, I'm not disappointing my kid who has been planning to go to the pumpkin
patch.
I've been to Us Weekly before.
So I felt bad because he was in town and that was when we were going to hang out.
And I had.
That was my birthday night too.
Well, it was on the 11thth so I kind of took the celebrations
into the midnight.
Okay, okay.
Yes, you had a late night that night.
I did, that's my excuse.
Oh where were you?
Cause we had a late night and we weren't with you.
Where'd you go?
We moved around town.
Okay.
Moved around town.
I had a late night last night.
We were at the Fire Aid concert.
That is thoughtful. That was iconic.
I felt like it was like the we are the world of this generation.
Yeah. No, it was like the live aid from back in the 80s.
But I mean, so many amazing acts. Dr. Dre came out.
Oh, really?
It was incredible.
Oh my God, I'm so jealous.
Yeah.
You all have had a pretty hard time here.
We get them in Australia.
We get the fires a lot in Australia.
We know, we understand, we have a lot of empathy
for what's been going on here because,
you know, they happen every decade down under.
So we all feel for you all.
I gotta say, it was so sweet that your daughter
checked on my daughter.
He sent me a message and he was like,
Sassy wants to know if Summer's okay with all the fires.
And then she even followed up and asked if he had checked on us.
Papa, can you call Sheena and see if summer moons?
Okay.
So sweet.
They bonded at universal last summer.
Okay.
Summer the season.
Yeah.
Well, Saski's an only, uh, only daughter sibling as well.
So I think she felt like she was a bigger sister there.
It was a moment for her being a bigger sister.
No, it was so cute.
She made her a headband and Summer was like, my friend who made me the headband.
It was so cute.
They were 20 and all day.
I love it.
I know.
Definitely have to get her back over again.
Definitely.
She loves it.
She wants me to move here.
I mean, I would not hate that.
She's like, move to America.
Why? Because I want to be in LA.
Yeah.
Yeah, she's got this vision of being an actress one day or a singer.
OK. She's got unfortunately, she's got my voice.
So that singing is out.
So you're permanently based in Australia? In Bali.
And well, they're in Bali.
I move around a fair bit. Philippines was it for a while.
But during Covid, we realized it was fair bit. Philippines was it for a while, but during COVID,
we realized it was a bit too remote and we had a better her education. So Bali's got some great education.
Oh, wow. Very creative schools.
And and I'm finding it nice there.
I love I've spent a lot of time cruising around Indonesia.
So it's nice to actually be on the land and and see what that's got to offer as
well. Much better than the Myrtle Beach I grew up with.
A little different.
Yeah.
So we have the new season of Below Deck, Down Under that just
premiered this week and congrats on the Emmy nomination last season.
Yeah.
Incredible.
Not many of us Bravo shows get those.
So that was awesome.
I was bummed you weren't actually there though.
I look, it was a bit of a flight to get over here.
I know.
I had stuff to do.
Totally.
It's across the world.
So yeah, you get a pass.
I was waiting for the ticket from Bravo.
But no, it was good.
It was look even to get nominated.
It's fantastic. As you said, absolutely unscripted, unstructured reality
is something that's actually very poignant because that's what we are.
We are. We're a show where we don't know the boat,
we walk up to it, we don't know the crew mainly,
and we don't know the guests, and we're unprepared,
and we've got to get the job done.
And that's a great ingredients for the disaster
that happens.
Totally.
How are you feeling about this season
compared to the last two?
Really good.
This one was in the Seychelles,
which I know we're down under,
and everyone's like, well, what the hell?
The logistics around these shows takes a little bit
to combine with a film crew and you need to have a marina close by and islands close by and
Australia has a very vast coastline, but only has those
elements up in the north where we actually film the first two seasons.
So we had to take it somewhere else.
And the Seychelles is great.
I love remote work.
I've been doing a lot of remote cruising from past 10 years in Papua New Guinea,
Indonesia and Philippines.
So this is like a bucket list for me.
Seychelles is out in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
It's so gorgeous too.
And it was so easy to get guests.
Yeah.
Come to the Seychelles.
Yep.
No, and I love that because like I look, I love like knowing the different places
I want to go, but I feel like I see a lot of the same places.
I'm below deck because it's like this is where people go.
And I was like, oh, Seychelles, I didn't know that this was a place.
So now I'm interested. Yeah.
Yeah. I heard that yesterday as well.
And that's a very good point.
When I actually took this show on, well, this season on in season one,
I felt like the more they spread their wings,
the more it can be like a desired destination travel program for people sitting in the,
you know, in the couches at home watching it. You know, like exactly what you just said.
Yeah. Yeah. Especially if we follow, I like when we follow the crew like off when they have their
nights off too. And then we get to experience what's happening locally.
And so I think if we get more of that, it's even better.
You will. You definitely will.
Amazing. I saw in the trailer, it appears that a lot of the crews start dating,
hooking up. Is that more than previous seasons?
Yeah. Season one and two, we didn't really have that. Season one, definitely not.
And it's good to see it evolve in season three.
And I mean, people like Harry, if you, Harry's a little bit, uh, he
actually has a bit of a love interest, which is fantastic.
It's good to see him grow into it.
But look, it's another aspect of yachting that is real.
And, you know, we do have, um, people hooking up all love interests on boats.
You know, we're away for a long time, but you need to actually balance
whether it works out or it does work.
You need to actually understand work first.
And if this actually happens, it's great.
And if it doesn't work out, you've got to continue on or one of you has got to go.
Well, how do you balance that?
And like, because like I know in the hospitality world in restaurants,
yeah, people hook up all the time.
And I guess yachting is an extension of that.
But like, where does it like if I want to hook up with the captain, is that allowed?
Yeah, that's asking for a friend.
That's a few levels up.
Yeah, that's how that's in the helm.
What's in the helm stays in the helm.
Okay.
Okay. I noticed also no Aisha this season.
No, that was, look, we had a great working relationship.
We had two good seasons.
We got on so well.
Not only that, she had done the,
done other seasons in the Mediterranean.
So she kind of knew the ins and outs of it.
She kind of knew the boundaries.
She knew the hurdles that were there.
Yeah. So that was
an asset from us. But look, she wanted to go to the Mediterranean. She gets on very good with the
other Captain Sandy. She had a story to tell there. She was a stewardess before. She became chief when
she was on mine. So she wanted to go back and complete that and put a book into there, I'm sure.
So that's great for them. And look the crew do move on in the industry.
And it gives us someone else to bring in
that we all get to see as well.
And we bring someone in that actually doesn't know
the logistics or the hurdles that the Asian use.
So you'll see that drama unfold.
Totally, because she had worked
with the chef previously, right?
She did, but she brought in a hell of a lot of experience, a high level of expectations
and standards.
But this franchise or these franchises are built to, you know, think on the spot and
you don't get what you want.
We don't have the, we don't have preparation.
We don't have knowledge of the boat or the crew. And these are all big hurdles.
And you'll see these hurdles come out.
Right.
Well, I love this season that Zarina gets a sous chef because we normally only see the head chef.
And I feel so bad because I'm just like, they have to do everything.
So much.
Especially when the guests are like, I want late night munchies.
Give me nachos at 2 a.m.
Chefs have the hardest job.
Yeah, definitely.
And not only that, it's the, the most, uh, it's the, it's the job we rely on for our
tips, you know, where we can fluff through it, but the food's got to be good.
You know, if they're going to fall back on something, um, they're going to fall back
on when they go, go put those tips out, they're going to go, how good was the food?
Yeah.
Or what can I complain about?
Um, yeah, look at classic example is Aisha, if her service is not up to the put those tips out, they're going to go, how good was the food? Yeah. Or what can I complain about? Mm hmm. Right.
Yeah, look, classic example is Aisha.
If her service is not up to the standards,
you know, due to fatigue or something going on,
her charisma will get her through.
You know, she'll laugh it off.
She'll just turn it upside down the next minute.
But you know what it's like working in a restaurant?
Yes.
You know, sometimes you don't have to be 100%.
If you've got the great personality, great demeanor,
some of the guests will come
back for you.
Oh, absolutely.
Because you get to know them. And that's what Aisha has that, you know, that sometimes you
can fluff over the food. Well now, you know, Serena's got all the powers in the world to
put out the best quality food with a sous chef.
Yeah.
Is this the first time there's been a sous chef on any Below Deck franchise? Yeah, I mean, I've never seen a sous chef. So yeah. Yeah. Is this the first time there's been a sous chef on any below deck franchise?
Yeah. I mean, I've never seen a sous chef.
And I was definitely concerned because the minute I saw him, I don't know.
I guess it's just like bias.
Like I was like, there's going to be a problem because anytime a woman
is a boss over a man, I already know there's going to be a conflict.
And I was like, oh, I was like, how's it going to work out?
And then already I'm like, oh, it's already not going to work out.
I'm curious to see how the rest of the season is. Yeah. But you know, it was like, oh, I was like, how's it going to work out? And then already I'm like, oh, it's already not going to work out. I'm curious to see how the rest of the season is.
Yeah.
But, you know, it's like, I know he's worked under Michelin star chefs.
And so he's like probably feeling some type of way that she's like a bit
micromanaging, even like the crew meals and stuff like that.
But, you know, she's kind of earned it, right?
She's, you know, she's the head chef.
Well, she did a season as well, too.
So she knows what's again, the hurdles we talked about, whereas he's probably looking at it.
Well, why aren't you at this?
Why isn't it here?
Why isn't it there?
Well, she's like, well, don't you know that we just got our food six hours ago
and we just had to spend 12 hours cleaning out?
Well, in season.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, no, that's another thing because you get like you have this gorgeous boat.
And why do you turn in the previous chef?
Because you get in there and there was like maggots and there's all sorts.
Disgusting. So gross.
And like, do you tell the owner of the yacht, like this is what we walked into.
And like, so they never hire them again.
This is insane.
Like we know why a galley we have galley inspections as a captain.
You do that. You do cabin inspections, you do galley inspections.
Like I, I, I've never been in my 25 years, never, never come across that.
Oh my God.
You might find them because it comes, um, you know, it does happen coming
buying these provisions and you know, in these, in these places, um, in remote
places, but for it to be at that standard at that level and across so many different areas,
it's like, wow, you know, like the crew on that boat previous that we did the handover.
Yeah. You know, just being crunching protein.
Right.
I would be horrified at the first day of my job.
Yeah, I'm cleaning out maggots.
And what was the other name of that other bud? Weevil.
Weevil. Yeah.
Never even heard of it.
Would have been fine not knowing.
No, you're good. Yeah, you're right.
Honestly, it's yeah, they're actually always in rice and you know, and they're about the
same as rice and it's like, am I on psychedelics?
Is that rice movie?
Is it movie?
Yeah, yeah.
Was that a mushroom going?
Jasmine.
Oh, that's funny.
Okay, we're going to take a quick little break and then we will be right back. Oh, Jasmine. Yeah. Oh, that's funny.
Okay, we're going to take a quick little break and then we will be right back.
All right, y'all.
It's winter time and that means it is time to travel, to ski, to snowboard, to do all
of the fun winter things.
But one thing that's not fun is having to bring your own gear with you.
I remember the last time I went snowboarding up in Tahoe,
even though it was a quick flight,
still having to pack the snowboarding bag
and then go to the oversized baggage claim
and all of that worrying about
what's gonna happen to my snowboard.
Did it get dropped?
All of the things you don't have to worry about anymore.

Okay, so who doesn't love good things in life?
Am I right?
Even though, you know, you may enjoy a little luxury,
it doesn't mean that you can always afford it.
I know, at least for me, that is the case.
That is until I discovered Quince.
Quince has been my go-to for luxury essentials
at very affordable prices.
And not just for myself, but also for Summer Moon.
We have some of the softest, adorable outfits
that we've gotten from Quince. Sweaters, I

That is Q U I N C E dot com slash honey to get free shipping and 365 day returns.
quince.com slash honey.
All right. So you've been doing this, what you said, 25 years?
Yeah, 25.
Incredible.
What are your favorite yachting spots around the world?
What are your favorite yachting spots around the world? I'm attracted to obviously Papua New Guinea and the remote areas and the things I've done there
with rebuilding hospitals and all that. That was just amazing. Obviously the most romantic
is the Amalfi Coast and Positano and Sardinia. Definitely. Sardinia is gorgeous and it's untouched down south.
Yeah, definitely.
Yeah.
If someone could have only had like one yachting experience,
what area or region would you suggest?
I'd have to say, I'm going to say the Amalfi Caves, Italy,
or even the Balearics of Spain as well.
The three islands there.
Oh wow.
Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca.
They're great.
You can actually get everything done there.
Yeah.
But in the summer.
But yeah, the Italian coast is just gorgeous.
It's got that white lotus kind of feel to it.
It looks beautiful.
I'm just curious, like, OK, like, obviously on TV,
there's things that you can't get away with.
But I've always been under the impression that, like,
when you have a yacht, you kind of, there's no rules.
You're in the ocean, you can kind of do whatever.
But I remember, I mean, this wasn't your season,
but on the very first season of Below Deck,
I think there was a white powder and like the guests
got kicked off and stuff like that.
Would that happen normally in yachting world?
Or like do most yachting people expect like,
I get on a yacht, I can do whatever I want?
I think as the years are going on, well, society in general, but when the years are
going on, our captain's tickets are too valuable for ourselves.
Yeah.
You know, it all comes back onto our liability.
So we have to stand up to that.
But in saying that for this industry, especially from captain's point of view, as a
captain, if you don't jump up and down and say yes,
there's 400 other captains waiting for you to join.
So we live with that pressure of like,
do we have a job tomorrow?
And I see that the same in the production side
of things in TV as well.
You don't know where your next gig is.
And some captains have to allow a bit of flex,
so be it without stepping over the line, And some captains have to allow a bit of flex,
so be it, without stepping over the line, to know that they're going to keep their job.
So yes is a big thing for us, yes, yes, yes.
But it's not until you get a bit of experience
and understand and have a bit more confidence in yourself
that you can actually say to the captain,
I mean to the owner, even for weather,
no, we cannot go, It's too dangerous. Yeah.
Usually I, um, I ha it's happened a couple of times.
Yeah.
We need to go, we need to go.
Can't, so it's too, weather's bad.
We need to go.
We need to go, go out there and get smashed and they go, okay, we'll listen to you now.
Yeah.
I thought I saw somewhere that this season we're going to see like two things that
we've never seen any time on Below Deck.
Does that involve you maybe saying yes when you should have said no?
Actually, that's such a good tease.
I'm not going to.
I don't want to interrupt that.
I reckon we should keep that as a tease.
OK.
Well, you said there's what 400 other captains,
but you got to have that confidence in everything.
I don't think there are 400 other captains who are going to come out
and serve things in budget smugglers. So you found a little niche market there.
Thank you. Yeah. That's what I'll sign off on. Yeah. Yeah. Look, I love getting involved in
look, there's a TV element to it. You know, that for sure that it's not what I always do.
As a captain, we, we obviously wouldn't do put myself in those, what's the scenarios.
Yeah.
Um, but to be quite honest, if you give me a 50, 50 meter, 150 meter charter boat,
and we're trying to bang out a heap of charters in real life, I would do it.
If the charter guests wanted to do it and they're paying the bills, I would do it.
And I would have no problem doing it.
And it sets a little bit of a standard for the other crew.
Look, if the captain's going to do it, let's all get into it.
Because I did find in season one and season two, a couple of times that some
of the crew were a little bit timid to get involved in that.
That's why it was poignant, especially at that time, especially with the speed
days when Aisha talked me into it for 48 hours, that I really realized it would
get the other guys totally into it.
And we need that. We need that. We've got charter after charter after charter.
We have to come up with new things and we just have to give them the laugh factor.
You know, the guests have to walk off being fed well, big smiles on their face and a big envelope.
Yeah. Yeah. That envelope.
Like I always like how much is it?
And you don't have to pay taxes on the on the tips when you're overseas, right?
I didn't think so, but the ATL Australian tax.
I know I learned that the hard way to after I did the beyond the valley.
Yeah, I thought I'd go away.
Well, then maybe we should be lying about that.
Oh, they only tipped us five grand.
Those cheapskates.
Yeah, well, yeah, I got asked yesterday. What's our biggest tips and, um, Down Under has been
a little bit low on the tips, probably because it's a bit far for people to go.
Um, you know, there's been a bit of an outlay for guests to get there and stuff cause they
have to pay.
Um, and our tips have been a bit low in comparison to the other franchise.
I've been keeping an eye on that because I think we're good.
And, um, and that's fine.
We'll climb it up. That's fine.
But I did have an answer for that person yesterday.
The biggest tip I got was, and you're included here, you know, the foundation
classroom at home, which we built the school for 171 children.
I went back and spoke at a gala two months ago and we were supposed to raise 60,000.
We ended up raising 140 that night.
So the biggest tip I got was you were the first donator to the foundation, to my portion of the
charity to the school, which was a huge like climber and just showed the world way. This,
this thing's moving. And then by the end of filming, um, season three, one of the charter guests, and I can't say
who, he doesn't want to be named, he finished it off with a massive donation to close it
off.
So after season three, I walked off with the money to rebuild the school.
You started it and he ended it.
He built a school sheet.
I love that.
And Saskia came and cut the ribbon with him.
Oh my God.
That's so amazing.
I need to get out there.
I want to see it in person.
I really need to plan that.
And because it's built all out of recycled plastic waste, the blocks like Lego, we went
to the beach after that and she spent an hour on the beach picking up plastic.
You have raised such an incredible girl.
I'm so glad that I got to spend some time with her
because I've heard the stories about her,
but then actually getting to meet her
and seeing her in summer together, it was great.
She's getting there.
I think, look, me and her mother separated quite early,
but we kept with building the resort.
Yeah.
She designed it, credits to her.
She's raising the child.
I've been at sea, but I'm back now
With the new hopefully career path a little bit
But look, I think at the end of the day we're doing the best for her
Yeah, and growing her in a unique way and I'm sure you guys everyone's doing the same for their children as well
So totally new career path. Is that a secret? Well this hopefully
Selling my fragrance.
Yes. Oh, my God. I got sprayed with Captain J right before the podcast.
Smell him. Oh, give him a whiff.
He always smells so good. He always smells delicious.
Right. Now you can smell him on your pillow.
Oh, my God. You know.
Yeah, it's gender neutral. It's look, I'll I'll have to get it out and show you.
But you should sell it with a pillow of your face.
Body pillow.
There you go.
I'm just gonna add a body pillow.
Valentine's Day is coming.
A big sausage pillow.
Yeah.
So, okay, off duty, not talking about the boat for a minute.
I know you've had some recent health challenges
and you've been open about them.
The first one I wanna talk to you about is,
I see you're finally putting in your own contacts.
Yes, done.
Thank you, Lord.
How's that been going?
That's good, that's fine.
That was so funny how far that went.
I know, right?
I honestly, they were about a dollar a pop.
They'll go to the other thing.
So, uh, I did get the help of Asia, which was fantastic.
But straight after that, um, I was lined up with, um, with AccuV and then now I've
got these ones that are perfect.
Great.
I can see.
I love it.
Love that.
Yeah.
But on a more serious note, I know you were recently diagnosed with melanoma following
a biopsy from your abdomen. So how are you doing? How did you discover it?
Wow. What an end of the year. And without being too much of a downer, I had a flight
to America for us weekly. And my mom just had a triple bypass. Then she came out of hospital, fell over,
broke her hip. Then I just had an inkling, you know, when your body actually says something.
Even though I had this looked at about six years ago, it's just fine. It's just a brown
mark. I just felt like it's like a bit raised than what it was. So I tried to ring around
to get a biopsy and I finally got in the hospital in Bali and they took it was. So I tried to ring around to get a biopsy
and I finally got in the hospital in Bali
and they took it out and then I took off.
And when I landed in America, I found out,
they said it was melanoma, can you come back?
We have to talk to you.
So I flew to Australia instead.
When I flew to Australia, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's
and then he had a stroke and it also sighted his
eye.
I know.
And then I spoke to the doctor and they said, well, we can't really tell much without a
proper specimen.
So I had to get it flown over from Bali.
And my mate turns around to me and he said, listen, you've got a lot going on.
You know, you should go to a therapist.
I said, I've never done one.
He said, you should speak to someone, you know? So in the head, you're ready for it.
And so I thought, that's a good idea.
You know, I made a joke out of it, obviously,
but that's a good idea.
I've got a lot going on.
And the next day he died in a horrific accident.
Oh my God.
So I had all that to deal with.
Then I had my biopsy wait, which was three weeks.
And on Christmas Eve, I got a phone call saying, it's all clear.
We're going to have one more cutout and it's 5% chance for it returning.
And I just, I just took everything that's in.
I've started seeing a therapist.
I've started doing, manifesting coaching as well, which is great.
It's kind of semi therapy as well.
And I thought I'm going to hit this 2025 before the train wreck
happens. You know, so I'm, I'm ahead of the game and I'm fine. And everything's starting
to come a lot better. I'm getting better news, but even if I don't have it, I'm prepared
for it. Wow. So yeah, but the answer to your question is the melanoma really surprised
me because I thought I was fine. The been been in the sun for this many decades on life,
really in the sun, and nothing's bothered me.
So I thought I was fine.
But then when this little lump raised up,
I was like, wow.
And then when I found out how the severity of skin cancer is,
it's the most fast-tracking, most deadliest cancer.
And a lot of people were messaging me in,
just like my husband, my father, my brother,
they passed away in six months, two months.
I was like, wow, this is bigger and more dangerous
than I thought.
And I felt a little bit embarrassed
about not being across it.
So every year, definitely a health check.
Yeah.
I know my dad has had it cut out a couple of times.
And I know you also said that what two out of three people in Australia are
affected by this, which is crazy.
A couple years ago, I had, or maybe like a year and a half ago, I had the owner
of the brand naked Sundays and now it's like big everywhere, but it started in
Australia, she started as a news reporter.
And she said, just being in Australia and being
out reporting in the sun and this and that, and just how many people in
Australia are affected by it.
And so she started this whole skincare SPF brand and it's incredible.
I use it all the time, but I feel like that is such a high
percentage of the population there.
Huge.
It's on every, just over, I just spent summer with my parents in, um, over the
Christmas period and, um, on the adverts on the TV, it's just banging on there.
Slip, slop, slap, shade.
That's what they call it.
Slip on the sunscreen, slop on the hat and put the shades on.
And, and it's this big, they're really pushing hard and you can,
even at every sporting event,
you can actually get a health check just for general,
not skin check, but get a health check.
But look, I found it hard to book
into a good dermatologist there.
Cause I'm on the move all the time.
But I did luckily found a good one in Sydney.
And I was fine. But it's very hard to, I found a good one in Sydney. And I was fine.
But it's very hard to, I'm a nomad,
I'm traveling around so much to actually find that time
to go, oh, you can't get in until a month later.
I'm like, well, I'm not gonna be here in a month.
So that was a problem.
I know that's an excuse, but no more excuses now.
Yeah.
How would you say that this diagnosis
has changed your relationship with the sun?
I know obviously.
Good question.
Always in it.
Yeah.
Good question. I'd be shirred off in the sun in the backyard all the time.
The last two months, I've always got a shirt on. I'm going to walks at six o'clock in the morning,
not 10. I've changed my attitude. I've noticed it, you know, usually I'd be,
I wouldn't care about the sun.
Can you say that to my husband, please,
when you see him later?
Yeah.
I'm always like, honey, like he thinks he's just this God
who can like, nothing bad will ever happen to him.
And I'm like, use sunscreen.
He's always in the sun.
He's always doing his building projects and all of that.
And-
That was me.
That was me.
We had the same mindset.
And I suppose if you're from down under like,
like Brock, you just think,
yeah, you are an incredible Hulk.
Yeah.
Well, he is.
That's what I mean.
Yeah, I met a lot of people from Australia
and they didn't use sunscreen.
And it's just like,
but you guys have so much sun.
You're always outdoors.
You're always doing a thing.
But she was just like,
I don't really use it.
I know.
But even with Summer,
when we're in Palm Springs,
he's like, oh, the UV rays. I'm like, put sunscreen on her. Always. I don't care what anything, but she's just like, I don't really use it. I know, but even with summer, when we're in Palm Springs, he's like, oh, the UV rays.
I'm like, put sunscreen on her, always.
I don't care what the UV index is, like whatever it is,
there's sun, sunscreen on, always.
Yeah, that's good.
Well, let's send it home.
Yeah, definitely.
What recommendations do you have for others?
Like, what would you say are the best preventative measures
against skin
cancer aside from avoiding the sun altogether? Well definitely cover your
eyes as well. Eyes are a big thing too. You need to actually have some shades on,
some good quality shades. Yeah. A lot of, so I've spoken to some dermatologists
since all this and they said please can you convey that the eyes are a big thing.
So for them to actually say that, again we're not aware, I was surprised at that. So, you know, have some good quality shades on.
You know, look, the thing is I'm an advocate for the sun.
I think it's great for us.
I think we need it.
You said that last time you were here.
I don't actually send a message out, you know, no, you still need the vitamin D.
Exactly.
Yeah, we can actually get enough out of the day without overexposure.
So definitely shirt always at those times of day.
Hat, I need to get, I gotta find a fashionable hat.
My ears stick out.
I know my head is so big.
I like can't wear any hats.
Shades definitely, but the biggest thing is honestly
have a relationship with the dermatologist
and go there once they record you, they record everything. Yeah. You know, they take a camera and they go over everything, go back to the same dermatologist and go there once they record you, they record everything.
Yeah.
You know, they take a camera and they go over everything, go back to the same dermatologist
and try and have a relationship with a good dermatologist.
And my suggestion is also use sunscreens that are not from the US because honestly-
Mine's all Australian.
Yeah, like other countries have better standards and better sunscreens.
No, ever since I had the owner of Naked Sundays on my podcast,
that is literally all I use.
I am stocked.
And I even got Summer.
She has an SPF lip gloss.
And so Summer thinks she's wearing makeup,
but it's actually SPF.
I'm like, this is genius.
I love it.
Yeah.
Yeah, look, I've been across that too.
I tried to make some products in Bali,
but then it's difficult to get them to America
because of the situation.
I'm like, okay, well, that's not down the track because there are so many.
I actually have been told that the rules in the rules in.
You, you and Australia changed and they've been in, they've been in
submission here in the USA since 2016, but still haven't been passed.
That's how far behind the American is from changing the difference in the
chemicals and everything that'll be news.
So Australia and EU have got it okay.
Yeah.
But you guys are, you know, many years behind at that going through.
Yeah.
We're going to take one more quick little break and then we will be right back.
That's right. It's a new year. True. Totally. Yeah. We're gonna take one more quick little break and then we will be right back.
That's right. It's a new year.
It has that wow factor.
You know, wow, it is a new year
and it's a new year with color.
Wow.
It is a female founded family owned business
with over a hundred major beauty awards.
And I know why.
If you saw on Instagram recently,
I showed you that this has been a go-to product of mine.
It smells good, it feels good,
and I love the way it sprays out of the bottle.
You've probably heard of their
Super Viral Frizz and Humidity Fighter Dream Coat.
One sells literally every five seconds.
Well, they've done it again with the money mist,
and that is exactly what it is.
It mists out of the bottle.
It's amazing. Chris Appleton, celebrity hairstylist. He is ColorWow's
celeb ambassador. You know, he's not going to get behind anything other than
amazing. Money Mist is a light, ultra luxe leave-in treatment for all hair types,
especially for dry and damaged hair like mine. It strengthens,

Okay.
So Captain Jason, you have definitely been named as the most eligible
bachelor in the Bravo verse.
Does that title still fit you?
Uh, definitely.
Okay.
Yeah.
I have to say the marketing for this season, I don't know who at NBCU Bravo is responsible for that,
but Five Star, coming out of the water.
Oh my God.
Come on.
Yeah, look, I need to let you know,
I didn't say to them like,
hey, I'd love to come out of the water.
Really? Like, I was like, not this again.
You know, but look, after six weeks of filming,
like it's just all fun at the end.
And it's like, let our hair down and enjoy it.
Yeah.
They should do like a below deck bachelor show.
Cause like all of like the bosons and the deck hands,
there's so many hot people on Below Deck.
Yeah, they had Brock and I do a little thing that I don't know if it's going to be on socials this week
or if it's already been somewhere and I missed it, but it's the I'm sexy and I know it.
And Brock and I, we were sitting in Hawaii and Bravo had asked us to do this little bit.
And I'm like watching something.
He's like, what's that? I'm like, oh, Captain Jason.
He's like, he's sexy.
I'm like, and he knows it.
But like all the little things they're doing
to market this season.
It's just so cute.
Yeah, they're putting a lot of effort in.
Yeah.
Well, look, to be quite honest,
as I said, I was in Australia, COVID, this all came up.
I actually said, I'm gonna dedicate two years to my daughter
because I missed out on two years. Then I didn't know where this was going.
Are we getting another season three?
I'm not sure.
You never know.
Everything was a bit all over the place.
I was a bit all over the place.
Bringing someone else into that is just, well, it's not right for her, whoever I bring in, or to my daughter.
So hopefully I get a little bit more stability this year, which I'm aiming to.
And then I can actually bring someone else in.
But it would not be fair for me to pretend
to be with someone or give them the time,
pretend that I'm going to give them the time
and not be able to.
I'd be just lying to them and myself
and I'd be wasting my daughter's time.
Yeah, for sure.
I do have to know though,
if any of the women from the Bravoverse
have slid into your DMs recently
or have any followed up post-BravoCon?
No, no, no, no, we haven't had any.
No, well, I do speak to Ashley Darby every now and again,
just every now and again, as you know.
And yeah, that's about it, really.
No one else has slid in your DMs. No, why do you know, and yeah, that's about it, really. No one else has slid in your DMs.
No, why do you know someone?
I mean, yeah, but there's always someone asking about you.
Well, Teddy Mellencamp just slid in just a minute ago.
Oh.
She wants me to do a cameo.
That divorce ain't even fun.
She just wants me to do a cameo for someone.
We did a podcast with her yesterday. She wants to do a cameo for Summer. We did a podcast with her yesterday.
She wants to do a cameo for a friend of hers.
Yeah, no.
So we'll leave it, no, that's a professional cameo.
Okay.
Well, speaking of Bravo, I'm curious,
what other Bravo shows do you keep up with?
You know what?
I usually say none, but in the last 12 months,
I've really been, I've been smashing Summerhouse
or Southern Charm.
Okay.
Southern Charm.
Both.
I've been watching that. I've been watching, I've been waiting for that train wreck ship to come in.
I think, honestly, I could see the Paige and Craig thing unfolding. I was like, you know.
Yeah.
I could see that. Like it was like a bit too thirsty. That's that's what I saw
Too thirsty on on Craig's side. Okay. Yeah, I just say it's a great guy nice guy
I got it all down pat wants to create his stuff, but it's it just seemed like
It wasn't a right fit. You just needed to move to New York
Yeah, I don't know the ins and out all I know is I probably too thirsty wasn't the right fit. You just needed to move to New York. Yeah. I don't know the ins and outs.
All I know is probably too thirsty is not the right word, but just probably
didn't, wrong picture, wrong frame, I think from both, you know, uh, and I've
been watching the sailing franchise.
Okay.
And then you told me you recently binged the Valley.
I did binge the Valley.
What did you think of that?
Any faves, Any standouts?
That is a hot mess.
I know, right?
It is a hot mess.
I'm just like, Jack's like, I just, it's just like that Tasmanian tiger, you know, that
comes around and just serves everything up.
You never know what you're going to get with him.
I saw him at drop off yesterday and then he got there like two minutes before me.
And so right after he dropped off cruise, he's walking out as I'm walking in with one of the other moms.
And I go, is he going to say hi?
Is he going to say hi?
And she goes, of course he is.
I'm like, oh yeah, we're around other people.
Of course he's going to put on the hi, good morning.
And I'm just, good morning, hi.
He made a TikTok with Good As Gold recently.
I remember seeing that.
I saw that.
I saw that.
And he was like, still don't want to watch her music video, though.
It wasn't even to Good As Gold, but I like that you used my song.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So that was everyone. I think we all like a hot mess.
Yeah. So we like to watch a hot mess. So it'd be nice to probably clean it up a little bit
and let it go. But I don't even get paid to be a hot mess. I just, somebody's putting you on TV.
The next hot mess we need is an ultimate girls trip below deck crossover.
How has that not happened yet?
Well, they kind of it wasn't on Bravo, but they did like a girls trip.
I thought it was like Lil Kim and like Chili from TLC.
But it was like on Zeus Network and nobody watched it.
But it was like they were on like a cruise and it was really fun to watch,
but nobody's going to watch it.
So, yeah, they should do something like that.
Yeah.
On Bravo.
Would you want to captain that trip?
I'd love to.
Right.
It'd be fantastic.
It'd be fantastic.
I mean, I just think it's a missed market right now.
Like you get all of these women on a boat.
Captain Jason.
The audience would love it.
They would love it.
Yeah.
I mean, honestly, that should just be like something you could buy tickets to like Bravo, because that
would also sell very well. I know. Well, there's the Housewives cruise right now that did you
hear about this? Yeah, I've seen clips of that, but I haven't seen anything. Jennifer Aiden from
Real Housewives of New Jersey got replaced by Shannon Bedore from Real Housewives of Orange
County, which I'm very happy about.
Cause I'm like, keep my girl Shannon booked in busy, you know, but they're
doing this housewives crew.
So I'm like, they're getting the women on the boats.
Let's just like film it for a show.
Yeah.
We should.
But budgie smugglers, what do they call them?
Budgie smugglers.
Yes.
It's all Brockwares.
I'm getting, I'm getting a bit older, so it's got to be soon.
Have you tried the Budgie Smugglers boxers? Because those are the softest things that
Brock has ever worn. He won't wear anything else now.
I'll check them out.
So check them out.
Now, last time you were here, you and you mentioned it a little bit earlier,
but you spoke about your work with ocean conservation and more specifically classroom of hope. So this is a children's education charity that uses
recycled materials from the ocean to build structures for instruction along with providing
other educational related resources. I would love it if you could just fill us in a little more with where
everything is right now. I know we mentioned a little earlier, but where can people help?
When can I come and see this? You know, all of the things.
Won't take up too much time. But look, the thing about the foundation is it's not just about
building the schools, it's about the education of it.
And if you understand that, look, in these cultures, you need to be pregnant before you
get married and you can get divorced.
So there's a lot of young girls out there that if you have a night away with your
boyfriend, you have to get married, but the father won't let you marry unless you get
pregnant.
So that, you know, where does a teenager go?
So that was the, that's the foundation actually really works on the education of these children,
giving them the education, having the schools that got knocked down so they can go to school
and teaching them that education is a great thing for them to lean on rather than being a farm
farm wife or a farm single mother.
We, with that foundation, with the section, the school that I did, we raised,
that you actually donated currently to, that was built.
That was 171 children.
We actually built another one with two blocks in it.
Saskia came up with that.
You can donate, you can find that on my Instagram,
and it's a classroomofhope.com.
Check it out.
They're a full circle.
They're not just actually just building schools.
They're doing education.
They're actually getting in there with the community leaders who are, you know, for religious
matters, got their own ideas, but they actually don't step on toes.
They're walking on eggshells.
They're getting the clearance from the local communities about what they can do and what they can provide and getting approval and they're getting acceptance
and then the community's understanding that this is a great thing. Yeah. It's well worth it. And
then I'm actually working with another one too that's providing rice up into the mountains of
people to the elderly and the disabled. And there's another one that actually teaches after school
tuition for English as well. So it's that. And there's another one that actually teaches after school tuition for English as well.
So it's that.
And there's another one that I want to start looking at is actually the disabled or the
special needs children in Indonesia.
They're hidden.
They're pushed away.
You don't see them.
Wow.
They're embarrassed.
The families are embarrassed.
So I want to get, I want to get more into that and see where that's going.
Like there's a school, sorry, there's a restaurant up in a boot in Bali.
I've been there. Well there's a restaurant that all the staff have Down
Syndrome. Really? I wish I knew that then. I want to go there and see it. Oh my god. And I want to see what's
going on with these, I met a girl who's from Netherlands and she's a special
needs teacher. She was telling me about this. She said I want to do something. So
she went back, came back.
She's got a business and she's going to try
and teach locals to be carers
because there is no certification for that.
Now I think that's got legs.
Yeah, definitely.
Not just good looking, does good for the world.
I know.
It's something that's, look, it started with my daughter
and where we lived and living in the Philippines
and cruising around.
But the biggest thing is I don't know what to do other than drive a boat.
I'm a mechanic and a plumber by trade too, but I just don't know what to do with this
social media stuff.
And I never have.
And I find it hard to talk into a camera and stuff.
So it doesn't seem like it.
I need to probably do it more.
I'm being told to do it more. So I feel that
I don't, I just do this because I love it and it's passionate and it's easy to talk about
because it's something that's, I enjoy it. So I'm falling into that because I enjoy it.
Yeah. I love that. Before we wrap up, can you give us any tea on the new season?
There's something explosive that happens that you were just like, you're fired.
Well you'll see in the teaser that we have a boat that left out of the water.
You see that?
Yeah.
That's probably the first for me.
Okay.
Look, I've actually, the tides got me every now and again, but I've never driven
around to a beach picnic and seen a 30 foot boat sitting out of the water.
Oh my God.
So that's a first for me.
And yeah, whether there's any dismissals or not, you'll have to see.
Look, we've got a lot of action going on in the galley.
A lot of action going on in the galley.
When someone gets fired, is that your call?
That, to be quite honest, every time there's been a dismissal, I've actually, look, I'm pretty, I get a little bit emotional the next day.
You know, I have a bit of a breakdown, I have my own little moment, because you're changing people's lives.
Yeah.
And especially doing it on camera now. you know, and it's another thing,
heavy thing to, to, to carry, but we do it for, um, I do it for a reason and,
and a purpose and it's because I haven't got the time to grow these people.
So if I see no growth, it's got to go.
If there is growth there, which you'll get in this season, some great growth.
Um, I'll, I'll stick with it.
Yeah.
If it's actually, if I see it's a dead rubber,
I'll cut, I'll cut.
But yeah, it's all my decision.
No insight.
No insight with the production whatsoever.
Yeah.
I love it.
I do too.
Well, before we wrap this up,
so Captain Jason, every week on the show,
we do a Jack's Hole.
You know how Andy Cohen has his Jack Hole on Watch What Happens Live?
We've named ours the Jack's Hole.
Are you by chance familiar with the show Traders on Peacock?
I know of it. I haven't got into it.
I wouldn't. I would.
You have a treat for your flight home.
Start with season two and then start season three.
I know Kate from Below Death.
Kate from Kate from Below Death. Kate from below death.
Yes.
She was in it.
Yes.
And she is witty.
She would have been good at it.
Was she on season one?
And then she came back season two.
Yes, she came back season two.
Yeah.
She was like a surprise one.
So my Jack's holes, it's been so easy to make them people who are on the show
triggers, you know, but this, I watched it this morning.
Oh my gosh, did you watch this week yet?
It's so good, like you will be so sucked in
when you start watching it.
Didn't you have a house,
wasn't there a lot of housewives on this show?
There are, yeah, and there's only one left,
my girl Delores.
And the first Jack's Hole I wanna make is Tom Sandoval,
okay, for coming for my girl Delores. But then on the flip side, Dolores, you know,
Tom is not a traitor.
He is getting it so wrong.
Every time.
Chrishell, swing and a miss.
It's like, it just strikes out every time.
Carolyn, can't blame her for going for Danielle.
I mean, they're coming for each other.
Like that meeting in the turret.
Like we want to kill each other. Some of the worst traders I've ever seen.
Oh, bad. It's terrible.
Watching Boston Rob in there just like get him out.
What am I doing? Every show.
Get him out. He's so good. He is iconic.
Yes. I'm hoping to get Derek on the podcast when he's here in a few weeks for the reunion.
We were talking this morning about when we can schedule that.
But Wes also, I feel like he sealed his own fate by being so aggro that,
you know, F all of you and just...
JANELLE He shouldn't have said I'm going to come for you.
I think he could have swayed the votes the other way if he hadn't said I'm going to come for you.
But that's Wes.
CLAIRE I know.
JANELLE That's why we love him.
CLAIRE Which also iconic and I loved the cockiness at the end.
He's like, I'm better than all of you, F all of you.
See, you have to watch the show now.
I know. You're like, what is happening?
I just can't see Tom Sandoval being a trader.
Like, he's not.
You can read him like a book.
Yeah, exactly.
Yes, exactly.
And like the first episode of the season,
the two people, he's like, yeah, I trust you.
I trust you. Are the traders?
You are so far off, buddy.
I think I saw a tweet that was something like he's working so hard to figure out
the trader almost as if he think he might be the trader.
That's right. He's like going to bed.
He's like, am I the trader?
Literally. Oh, so good.
So you have something to catch up on on your flight home.
Yeah, I got 15 hours.
Yeah, because I mean, you should watch it in case they ask you to be on it when you're
not chartering a boat, a yacht, a super yacht.
I've got too much.
I'm pretty open and too honest for that, I think.
But then again, that could be work.
You might be a good trader.
Exactly.
I actually am pretty good at, yeah.
If I put my captain's cap on, I'm pretty good.
Like I can read, I can see what's happening in the future with crew.
When I can see a disaster train wreck about to come, I can actually, and I can poke it a little
bit too. I can actually make it, I can prolong the disaster. I can bring it forward just with a few
mannerisms and that. That's the art of being a captain or something. You can, if someone's a
bit misogynist or everything, it's like, ah, well, I won't give him any attention. I'll give this guy
a bit of attention and he feels left out. And yeah, it's actually, ah, well, I won't give him any attention. I'll give this guy a bit of attention and he feels left out.
And yeah, it's actually, you can play those games psychologically on crew.
So I'll give it a go.
Yeah.
And you do need an accent at least on every season.
They've had an accent.
So I've got a bit of an accent.
I haven't got much.
Yeah.
You're going to have to subtitle all this.
No, it did take me a solid year to understand my current husband.
I'm like, what did you say?
Still, when he does the voice, like a talk to text, Siri does not understand him.
Alexa half the time doesn't understand him.
I'm like, honey, just send a voice note.
