Hmm. In a sold-out, I mean, was it sold out? Look, we're not here for technicalities today. No, it was. It was. It was. sold out, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

We came out flying. Impeccable, incredible, immaculate. First half performance. Second half, you know, got a little whatever, you know. We sub-Christian Policicic out for Sebastian Burrhal, so that's a statement of intent, you know, as far as what we're trying to do in that second half, just a little bit.

Still created, still has some openings, still created some chances in that second half still. For sure. And then Adam Bells, after, after they just decided that like, Bells, I used to do this as a basketball player. Sometimes when you're getting busted, it's like, hey, bro, you need to slow that shit down. Or if you're going to come in here, I'm a, I'm a hack you. Yeah.

I'm a hack you, brother. You know what I'm saying? And that's what Paraguay decided to do in the last 20 minutes. I mean, some very nasty foul, bro. that one where where Gio pounded the ground a couple times

like it that might be a red card sometimes bro, bro, might be a red sometimes might be a red sometimes brother and so after they decided

to take that after they decided to take that position we took our last possession of the game I really allayed them for for you know

a solid 30 seconds got the ball up the pitch and then when you see Gio in that amount of space with that amount of time to do something with the ball inside the box.

Bad idea. We know what time it is. We know what time it is. And you know, real quick, I'm going to go ahead and be like, somebody might be like, oh, Vince, he's living referee in your head, you're damn right. All right. Canada, on the other hand,

they were, Olai and Bosnia in a one-one, a one-one draw. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, I mean, there's levels to this. There's levels to this. You know what I'm saying? When you see them boys, is a USMNT, come out and play ball,

handle business against a team with all due respect to my brothers and sisters in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their diaspora, especially in Louisville. Adam Bells, I was driving to my grandma's house today. A Mustang flying a Bosnian flag just flew by me. 90 miles an hour. It's this post-match as I'm leaving work or whatever. and then Bell's a thing that's going to go a little underrated. For the non-footballing watching populace, the non-socket watching populace in America, They also got to see some flopping, some simulation get punished. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? That's big.

I mean, Bells, who, who, who, who is top of mind for you right now? I keep thinking, I keep coming back to Malik Tillman. I mean, I don't want to, I don't want to besmirch anybody else because I, because I thought Wes, obviously Christian and Ballo were outstanding, but I thought Wes was, and I thought, I think, uh, at the end of the game, Alexie Lollas even said it. Like, Wes was, Wes was a monster. Like he was, he was everywhere. He was going crazy.

And, you know, we know, especially I know, you know, we watch Weston McKinney enough. You can tell when he's on it, when he's not. Right. He wasn't on it last week. He wasn't. But, man, when the lights come on. When you see those first few touches and they're just silky smooth and he's doing everything he wants with the ball when he wants to do it. And it just...

And it just kept happening time after time? The way he can receive, you know, those like lofted balls into the channel, the way he can sort of, it doesn't always look so elegant, but the way he can receive it and keep his momentum going forward is just, it's like, it's sneaky, sneaky elite. And over and over again, making those runs, making stuff happen. Yeah. Man.

Wes, go ahead, go ahead. Well, I was going to say, I was listening to the prematch. check-in at the gym this morning. And, you know, I'm listening to, I'm not coming for Charlie Bone, but it's just like, you know, he said, like, you know, maybe our best midfield isn't the most talented midfield or whatever. And, you know, just the general questions about maybe if Wes, you know, maybe might need to sit for somebody or whatever.

And I just knew that one of these, like, at some point, it was going to be one of those Western combinations that come off. Now, maybe it would have just been, like, one or two, you know, that turned into magic or whatever. But in this match, it was like, I mean, you talk about his just application of technique. Yeah. I mean, all the way to 97th minute, he is all over the field. He is bringing, he's like bringing order to chaos. He's, I mean, can't say enough about him. But I do think, for me, it's, like, Tillman's the one I keep thinking about first. Yeah, bro. Like, he just, he just fucking pops off the screen the shit he does, you know? Like, I mean, you're watching with a, I'm watching with a bunch of people, a bunch of my fans. family who like soccer but do not watch a lot of soccer, you know,

and definitely don't watch a lot of the U.S. men's national team. And, like, you know, that little back heel flick to Wes in the first half where he's like, I mean, like, you don't have to love soccer to know that that is impressive. And, I mean, he's just doing stuff like that all game long, you know? And playing defense, like a man on fire? Yeah. I mean, a couple of his slide rule passes didn't come off, and I know he wants those back. But, man, he was so good.

I hope he's not. I mean, he got, he got banged up tonight, too. And I hope he doesn't come out dealing with something. But anyway, yeah. And, you know, I mean, first of all, he was absolutely going crazy. Second of all, I think, you know, when it comes out, that Pacha is going to, put somebody more offensive in the in the in the in the in the DP you know I mean it had to be malick for me as far as getting the the first shot at least he's the one with the best balance I mean

I think his future is as kind of an eight you know offense defense um going up and down using his his physicality as well I mean he was just he was absolutely hooping it was brilliant And this is like the thing when like we watch him for viral levercues and he's kind of chilling most of time, right? And like even like some of those times where he receives the ball on the on the touchline, the one in the second half kind of sticks out to me after he missed that one chance, the him and peppy. Yeah, that was that was an unfortunate little sequence. Very next time he gets the ball pops up on the left touchline, boom, I'm receiving it, I'm turning, I'm right by you. and I'm free. And, you know, that little, one of those slide rolls didn't, was a little bit too heavy.

It was a nice idea, though. It was a little bit too heavy. It was a nice idea. I know, I know exactly the one you're talking about. But this is what we want to see from Elite Tillman. Like, bro, go forward with the ball, bro. You are nice. You know what I'm saying?

Like, yeah. He was exhausted, too, when he came off. You could tell, like, of all the players who came off, he was the one who looked at the most tired. Yeah, but, I mean, Adam, if we're going to be able to be able to. able to skip past people, you know, every time we receive the ball and every possession sequence, like, and everybody on the field is able to do it, then, yeah, that probably means we're going to play some pretty good soccer in this tournament. Yeah, and when, and crucially win some people over. I know, I kind of want to go back to the beginning because, like, I love, you know, you know I love

a good congregational singing of the national anthem. And I'd love to say, you know, I'd love to see the video hopefully there's going to be some video from inside the stadium of people like recording it because you know in the in the in the in the in the feed you get mostly the vocals from the microphones in the middle of the field but it did feel like the entire stadium was singing and you could tell that that like that meant something to those players you know they don't get to play in a stadium like that ever ever and yeah once they get to play in a full NFL stadium 70,000 people and the crowd is overwhelmingly rooting for them.

I mean, that makes me emotional for those, for our guys, you know? Finally, they get that. What, we were at that same stadium 15 months ago or whatever, and it was, it looked like me playing at Lindsay Wilson College when we played in the D1 stadium. You know what I'm saying? There's a couple times we played a D1 state is just, hey, it's some speck.

of families in these big ass stands and that's it yeah and you know we kind of got conflicting reports and once again like as just I don't know what happened but it's like three four weeks ago it's like it just turned

a corner it's like I felt it I just felt the energy I felt that the World Cup is here it's probably just that we can't pay attention to anything past like a month out with the way just life is in our

attention span is divided or whatever and you know you attention is demanded from all these different things and we give in to you know our devices well whatever whatever but yeah the world cup's here it's going to be a good one people are locked in the country i think the country's locked in now especially after this performance i mean my uh speaking of the football team i mean my my group chat's going crazy yeah yeah my group chat's going crazy you know i had a couple people hit me up for betting For bed and advice Are like, yo, U.S. going to win today? Yes, sir, we win it.

And then, you know, we've made big winners Out of all those people that battle. You know, it's just all, however, whichever way you receive your dopamine, we gave it to you today. Yeah. Yeah. I had a friend texted me from Minnesota,

a guy who doesn't like soccer. And he texted me, are you at this game? And I said, no, I'll be at the next one. I said, are you watching? And then he sends me a video of him at the bar. I said, I'm here. he said, I'm here reluctantly because they sell beer.

And then he said, do we always score this much? So, I mean, maybe we're even breaking in with him, you know? Oh, man. Can we talk about Gio for a second? I know we're hopping around, but just for a second.

Well, hold on. I just want to get Greg in here, if possible. I would love to talk about the Gio goal. Come on, brother. Let's go then. Greg. How are you doing, brother? I just got on, so I have no idea what's already been talked about.

We haven't talked about much. I've been ill. I'm ill today. Bat on through some illness. But nothing is dampening my spirit because, man, was that just a delightful soccer match? Wow, yeah. It hasn't happened, right? I mean, we have not had a World Cup game like that before.

No. I mean, you're always the guy saying. that just, I mean, basically the message I feel like I've gotten from you is that World Cup games like that don't exist. Right. Yeah. I mean, every once in a while you see even the good teams, you pull a game like this off, but Oleg Salankoff scored six goals in a game.

But this doesn't just doesn't happen regularly for us to be on the side of it and because of what we were doing. I don't think I would say Paraguay imploded and say we were just in lights out. I, yeah. Yeah, it's like, it is interesting how, like, we got to play. I think Henri said this at the end of the game, something to this effect. Like, we are, we are a team, it looks like we're a team that has to play on the edge. You know, we got to be, we have to be the protagonist.

Because, I mean, the goal they scored, the goal pair go I scored is kind of a, the example of, like, I don't know if we can, like, defend, you know, sit back. can defend because I don't know that I have much confidence it'll work but when we're like if we're ready to like go at people we can make some stuff happen and obviously we did that tonight and we basically we basically took the fun side and instead of it being like the fun side of the field it was like the fun side 11 yeah it was just a blast uh just just try i mean just a bunch of clind Dempsey's out there trying shit and pulling it off. It was all coming off. Goodness, lads. Yeah. I just wanted to note that, and I think somebody mentioned this in the chat,

but Gio was very upset about the, you know, the boot raked across the back of his leg. And then he was like talking, he was up in somebody's face, I don't know, 30 seconds before he scored. Like he was, he was yelling at somebody, and Stu Holden was like, chill. And then he comes down and just strokes it far post outside of the boot. What a moment. What was your, what was your visceral reaction to that Gio goal? Because I feel, again, I, listening to you fellas talking about Gio for the last two

years and breaking down, like, every four-minute cameo he's gotten and been like, yep, this dude would play for us. It was so sweet. It was just so sweet. It was sweet because, number one, I just wanted to make sure I don't want to lose a single, a single iota of the goodwill that we got in that first half. And, you know, it's like, okay, if we give up a goal in the second half and just kind of fart the game out or whatever, you know, maybe somebody. might be like, oh, you know, same old USMNT. They just, they just kind of got hot in that first half, whatever.

And, and I was legitimately mad that Paraguay was stomping us like that, bro. It got a little crazy. I'm like, bro, hey, like I was, I was getting mad. I was like, bro, let me at him for real. Like if I catch one of these dudes at whatever town they go into next, I'm going to give him a peace in my mind. So to close him out like that, to walk him off like that, I was

I was hyped as hell, bro. I mean, you know, the best thing, Vince, is, is the team obviously felt the same way because we were in the 90s, I mean, we were past the time. The referee was ready to blow his whistle at any point. We could have just passed it back to Chris Richards and we know the referee's blowing his whistle. And our boys were like, no, we are not letting this guy blow his whistle yet. We are putting that ball in the net.

bro and then it's not going to end the game and the ref is holding his arm up like like y'all like y'all got this last attack go ahead if y'all want to you know and so and we took it and yeah we did we did what we did with it bro beautiful Greg you weren't here

but I was telling bells that you know in Toronto earlier you know the Canada fans were were chanin'ole in a in a one-one draw against Bosnia you know what I'm saying but but we really come out here Canada time and place you don't allay somebody when it's

1-1 at home but but we really came out here elated them for about 30 seconds 45 seconds and then just absolutely disrespected them um with that G-O-go

Against Paraguay And Paraguay aren't bad That's the thing like they're They're one of the weaker opponents in the group But they're not Bosnia And they're not South Africa Like they're a solid outfit And

And we really pantsed them At like every position on the field Yeah for pretty close to 90 minutes. And Malik was, he was just having fun. Like this was, this looked like, he was, he was doing this with the same effort. He looked like he was putting into the Gold Cup group stage. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, once I saw, even, I felt like maybe we hit a lull at some point. Not really a low, but it was just like, you know, it was a couple times where like we got the ball to ball to ball. and there's like three people kind of collapsing on us, kind of a little bit hard to get that like final pass or whatever. In that, like early in that first half. And I was just like, man, but we are accessing the valuable areas of the pitch like almost, I mean, often. Often.

I was going to say it will, but maybe it will. But, you know, often, like zone 14, no problem. We're in there, you know. Cutback opportunities, man city zone, but we're there too. It was the dual 10 over and over again. We just kept hitting the dual 10. The dual 10 floated ball over the top to McKinney or to put on the right or pullistic on the left. And again, I just love this because I love what Pachitino, I've loved the Pachitino era.

I've loved the slogans that he throws out there. I love the culture eats tactics for breakfast or whatever it is. But like that was very tactics. Like that was a repeated pattern of hit the space in behind there, between their centerback, fullback. into McKinney running into the box and we just kept doing it over and over that floated ball into the corner of the 18 where our guy gets to it first

and gets to just because he's a grown-up whether it's McKenny or Pool Sick we're going to now have established possession at the top of Paraguay's box and they weren't they didn't sit in a deep block like they and we really punch them for it over and over I got to read a tweet from somebody

Sanjiv Sanjee at USMNT videos I think Kis tweeted for the first time in many, many years. He said, just woke up from Macomba. He's back to the World Cup. He said, just woke up from a coma is the USMNT, the greatest team of all time. I missed that guy. Oh, man. That's fantastic.

And so I got on the instant, but anyway, I saw that video, remember the, of the Man City performance. Yeah. And that's, and I saw that, like, two days ago or whatever, and I'm like, bro, that, that's, that's it. That's what he's going to be doing for us, you know, in this, in this eight position next to Tyler or whatever. To be able to, you know, tap the ball back and forth, you know, create an opening, find the opening, and then, you know, really put the knife all the way in, you know, kind of thing. Right. That's what we're seeing now, man. It's what we're seeing now. You know, Flo, I mean, come on, man. Could I had a hat trick maybe?

Chris and Polisic isn't offside early in the... Absolutely disgusting from West to play that through Balo on that, by the way. I mean... I mean, there was so much intricate combination play, like, in the final 25 yards. Like, in incredible amounts of traffic. Yeah. Man. Good stuff.

I hate the fact that the term hero ball has become a thing, because, like, people just call anything hero ball. You know, for me, that's how the term originated. And then people are just, you know, taking the win-all-will-nilly with it. But, you know, you got to, having two wingers that can eliminate people, that definitely ups my viewing excitement. You know, another thing that really stuck out to me was the counter. I mean, the counterpress was ferocious. It was. It was.

Every single time we lost the ball, bro. We were locked in. Yeah. We were locked in, bro. What do you guys attribute that to? Is that, uh, Pachismo? Or is that just like playing in a World Cup in front of a stadium that is rooting for you? Or like, what's going on there?

There's probably an element of, you know, we talk about how this cycle, what we were missing was the qualifiers. Like, we're just playing friendlies. And there's probably, we would talk about, like, yeah, some of these guys probably are phoning it in. Like, these, they're at, we have guys at a level now where we can kind of expect that they're going to phone it in. And we just have to hope that when it actually matters, they're not going to do that.

And, I mean, it didn't look like there was a lot of, a lot of going through the motions out there. Those dudes were fighting. for all the talk of heart yeah didn't seem to be an issue and it was something that I mean I think we saw a little bit of it

in the Germany match more than I mean you know um so so Eric Winnauda esteemed luminary he talked about I think he tweeted something about the fact that our

counterpress was was uh was at least we had had good intent to try and get the ball back when we lost it, like against Germany. And, you know, he said it was, it's all posh. I mean, of course it's all potch. You know, it's him, it's him demanding that of the players, you know, and of course we get that extra boost. I mean, you know, like playing in front of the, the delta between Panama the Nations League to this,

that'll, that's just gonna up your, that's just gonna up your performance. I don't care who you are, bro. Everybody, I feel like, is affected by these types of things. And, yeah, a crowd gives energy.

A crowd has an effect on a match, man. But, uh, we got anything else for? I open this thing up. I have one small complaint about the Fox broadcast, which is all we got, during the game was pictures, like, video of celebrities sitting there.

Yeah. And, or Paraguay fans, basically. That's true. And so, those are the two genders. I was laughing because I was like,

man, for all the talk about, like, how expensive the tickets are to cut to Bill Gates feels like a little bit tone deaf. Look, if you're Bill Gates,

you can get a ticket. It's not impossible to get a ticket to these games. Look, this guy has one. Oh, man. Bill Gates, man. I mean, yeah, it's the world feed, I think. Let's be in you, because I watched a match on Telemundo.

And I, it was the same experience. The same experience, you know, Tom Cruise, Paris Hilton, Bill Gates, Katie Perry and Justin Trudeau. I mean, that was kind of interesting. The Katie Perry, Justin Trudeau thing is interesting, but otherwise, yeah. for what? I mean, hey, you... It's just hilarious. It's just hilarious.

Anyway, go ahead. You had a game, man. I don't know. Katie Perry, Katie Perry just Trudeau, was a little too... First dateish. A little first dateish. Yeah, come on, bro.
