Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. It is The Edge Nights. I could not be more excited about the guests that I have right now. Please welcome DJ's Duke and Jones. You know them from one of the most viral-wiggle-wiggle. For sure. You know them from one of the most viral sounds on the internet this year. The Louis Thoreau wiggle-wiggle remix.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Welcome, boys. How are you? Not too bad, do you. That's crazy. That's the example of how two guys can have a little bit of fun. with something that they thought was funny and your lives can change. 100%. Yeah, we always joke because it took 15 minutes to make and it's by far.
Starting point is 00:00:39 The Miaoas songs we've worked on where it's taken weeks and months to get it right. And then this one was 15 minutes on a lunch break. And now it's become our most stream song. How did it come about? Because obviously it's of Amelia, the chicken shop interviewer. And she's interviewing documentary in Louis Thoreau. Which one of you watched that video, heard the rap and was like, like, this would be fun. We can do something with it.
Starting point is 00:01:02 It was our friend. He came around for lunch. And he was like, have you seen Louis Fruh went on chicken shop date? I'm like, no. He's like, you should do an auto chuna of it. I was like, all our success to him. Because he was just like, you should do it. Like, it seems to be popping off online at
Starting point is 00:01:18 a moment. So if you had your twist it, it should do well. That's so funny. So you've got this period in time where you've got one of the most used sounds online, but you've only got this clip of it. Obviously, in your heads, you're like, how do we do this into a song I can get played on the radio. How long did it take between having that idea and convincing Louis Thoreau to come to the studio and record the whole song? He was actually very game for it
Starting point is 00:01:40 pretty much very early on because we'd reached out to see if we could maybe release just the version we had from TikTok. And he was like, well, you know, yeah, but the second verse he used isn't the original second verse. And I want it to be a whole rap about fiat's, you know, we'll do it properly. So I'll come to the studio and do it, which was my first. maybe like two, three weeks after it first came out, but maybe like a week and a half after it started really popping off. But to actually get the song out took a bit longer because we were all like excited, ready to release it.
Starting point is 00:02:11 And then somebody at Sony pointed out that the red red wine lyric was Neil Diamond who wrote that. So we had to get his permission to sing that bit. And he took quite a long time to get back to us. So we were about to, we were like hours away from releasing a version where that line is just replaced by the noise of like, cork popping, pouring drinks and like clinking a glass. And just like right before the deadline, Neil Diamond's team get back saying, yep, he approved it.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Go ahead. So interesting. So obviously the version that everyone's heard online. Only don't jiggle, jiggle. It folds. You've now re-recorded it. You've got a second verse for him, as you said. Shepherds Bush.
Starting point is 00:02:51 My compact push. Who wrote that? You guys write that? Did Louis Thoreau come in with the lyrics? No, it's from the original. So obviously it's the original rap is from... Weird weekends in like 2000 and something. And he wrote it with these two guys called Reese and Bigelow.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And that's the original whole song they wrote, but they just never kind of put it all out on the internet. Yeah, we wanted to use that verse for the second verse of our like first extended one, but in the program it cuts away right on the last line. So it didn't have the full eight bars or whatever. So I can't use that. So then obviously Louis went to re-record it with his original vision of the song.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Can I, because guys, I'm not sure if you know, I mean, you definitely don't know. But I'm a DJ here in New Zealand. I've loved the track. You know, just before I heard the actual full version, I love the clip you put on TikTok. And I thought, he sounds like he should be on a pop song. With that verse, you know, slap that at the bridge of a pop song, and it works. So I figured what pop song is missing a verse right now? The song that came to mind was Duolipa.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Levitating, right? She had a baby on it. She took the baby off. There's no verse now. It felt like it had a hole in it. So what I did was I got the Louis Thoreau verse. I chucked it in there. I want to get your opinion on what you think about the Louis Thoreau jiggle-jiggle-diggled
Starting point is 00:04:14 levitating version. Can you remember any of the rock beat? My money don't jiggle-d-jiggle-jiggle. For sure, we hear you want to dribble-driple. You know, laden in my fear. You really have to see it. six feet two get a compact no slack but lucky leave the seat to go back in color tank to relax my mind that's up in red one outstanding that has no right to go as hard as it does
Starting point is 00:04:45 now i put it over the thomas the tank engine theme and i thought that like kind of hard but nowhere near as good as an actual song i have heard the thomas the tank engine one that goes harder so i'm thinking you know do a leap is british as well i'm thinking there's something there you guys get it in her hands yeah we could always get a version with you and leave but that'd be even better. What's next for you guys? Because obviously you are serious DJs. You do this as a bit of a laugh to like remix, things
Starting point is 00:05:09 that are happening online. Is this the lane you're going to go a little bit more down? Are you obviously going to keep doing this project? But do you guys have some more, like, original music coming out soon? Yeah, we've got loads of original music and then we've also got a couple remixes for some fun people coming out.
Starting point is 00:05:24 So what does a live set look like for you? So you've got your normal music, your turns that you're going to play, right? Your remixes, we make house music and we play house music live and then just jiggle jiggle jiggle we're sort of trying to work this one out whether we just kind of do a big slowdown at the end and slap in louis at 100 bpm whether we play a house remix of louis theru like make a little edit i'm not sure about that i know we're going to have to play it because people are going to want to hear it but um still just kind of working that one out i think yeah i can't wait man and hopefully you guys come and hit some festivals
Starting point is 00:06:00 here in New Zealand as well. I'm sure you'll get a crowd there just off the back of that song. I've got to visit, yeah. Thank you so much for catching up with me, boys. I really appreciate it. I'll let you go and get on with the rest of your day and nights early mornings there. You got the coffee in you. I appreciate it. Hopefully catch up if you guys do come down under. Yeah, thanks for having us. Yeah.
