Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, this is the Secret Mum Club. I'm Safina and I'm Emma. And welcome to your Thursday's episode where we get to squeeze in all the extra bits and bobs from the week. Squeeze your bits and bobs, all of your comments, thoughts, questions and fun stories to keep you going through the weekend. Shall we jump on in? We're doing something a little different today because the Euros have started. Yes. We are so excited, aren't we? I love it. How ready are you on a scale of one to 10?
Starting point is 00:00:32 I'm so excited because just remember the last one. It was such a good vibe, wasn't it? It was just everything. Ah, it was everything and more that we needed on life. It was amazing. So bring it back. Give it back to me. I need it in my life.
Starting point is 00:00:43 I'm really excited. You say Colby likes, prefers watching women's football because at least they actually win. Because we can actually win. Yeah. I need it in my life. I'm really excited. You say Colby likes prefers watching women's football because because we can actually win. Yeah, we've got we've got a greater chance. No hate to the men. No, yeah. But it's been since 1966. Guys, pull your finger out. The girls are just bringing it home.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Well, someone who might just be a little more excited than we are is our guest today. Charlotte Lynch. Hello. Hey, thanks for having me. Hey. Thanks for having me. Welcome. We are so excited. I just want to start by saying I came into the building today. Obviously, mum head completely forgot that we had Charlotte today.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Not that I was disregarding you at all. But I come upstairs and Emma was like, our guest is already here. And I was like, I hope it's that beautiful woman in the lobby in orange. And they just came up and I was like, yes. She was like, I've seen her. I spotted her straight away. That's very sweet. Tell us a bit about yourself, Charlotte. You are a footballer. Yes. I am a footballer.
Starting point is 00:01:36 I started my journey in a boys team, actually, my brother's team, because that's how it was. Back in the day. There were no girls teams then. I couldn't find any in the area. So my mum brought my brother to this boys team and I used to watch them training and I had this fire in my belly. And I was like, I can do that.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I know I can do it. I want to play. I want to get involved. So I had a chat with my mum. I was really shy back then. She had a chat with the coach. The coach was like, but it's a boys team and Charlotte's a girl. And she said, I know that.
Starting point is 00:02:03 As if your mum never knew. Oh my gosh. She said she's good enough and she can play as well as any of the boys on the team. So with a bit of a push, he went back to the board and got permission. I got involved. We did really well. Got to the finals. Stop. And I used to still get side eyes from opposition, but from my team, honestly, they love me, took me under their wing as a sister. And that was the start of my journey. Can I ask what's the age gap between you and your brother? Two years?
Starting point is 00:02:36 Two and a half years? Yeah, so they're not bothered because obviously I was saying to you, my niece plays in an under nines football, but like I just said to you, a lot has changed in the last two years for us because it was predominantly girls had to play on the boys team, but now she is fully in a girls team. But obviously the ages, they tend to be either eight or nine, don't they? Rather than playing up a year or playing down. So I love that for you. Yeah, football's changed now, thankfully, which is amazing. And I always love sports. So I did my coaching qualifications. I went to uni, studied sports science, sports biomechanics,
Starting point is 00:03:15 sports psychology, and I also got my teaching qualifications. Wow. Oh my gosh, you've done it all. So I mean, I did a lot. I went to school, that was enough. Finished school and that was the end. You did it all for everyone, honestly. I did it because I just didn't want to be the only child in my family that didn't have a degree.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yes. But it was worth it now. I'm glad I went. There's that competitiveness coming through. I love that. What about your career since then? So I was teaching sports science for a number of years and I was teaching preschool for a number of years and I was teaching preschool
Starting point is 00:03:46 for a number of years. And teaching is not for the faint hearted. Yeah, especially, especially little ones. I generally say this all the time because I've got two in school. Yeah. You've got to be a special kind of person. They're angels. Yeah. You literally are angels from above. I don't know how you do it. Yeah, teachers are really special and that is who children are spending most of their time with. More so than us as parents, you know. So you want to do a good job. You want to be empathetic. You want to have your lesson plans in place. And to do that, it consumes your life, which I found out. So every evening
Starting point is 00:04:20 I'm preparing lessons, I'm marking work. And the kids did love me and they say, Miss Charlotte and give me like a big smile and a high five when I saw them, but it just was taking its toll, I think. Yeah. So I moved across into something that was still, because I'm quite a caring person, so I moved across into charity work.
Starting point is 00:04:41 So I did that, I worked for a loneliness charity for a number of years. And then I'd be taking annual leave to do like a commercial here or there or a little short film or an advert and like kind of transitioning out. And I'd use the time to create football tutorials online or a skill video. So I was kind of planning my exit that way. So you, so that was acting as well. So you, not only a teacher, footballer, actor, full time legend, footballer and full time tired. I'm not surprised.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I've checked out. And then, and then I, I used to go to matches. I just love watching matches anyway. And my friend, Sean, she runs a men's football team and she took them all the way to the finals and she won. Wow. After it, I just wanted to ask her some questions. I was like, can you describe the feeling in three words?
Starting point is 00:05:37 And I was just doing it on my phone casually. And then I thought, let me buy a mic. Cause it did really well actually. When I put it on my stories. I bought a mic and just started turning up to different events or football teams and doing quick interviews and that. And then this is where you are. Started getting bookings. But you have, you really flabbergasted. I cannot. This is wonderful.
Starting point is 00:06:01 But do you know what? Also, my mum was the head teacher of my school, sorry. Oh yeah. It's all coming out now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My mom was the head teacher of my school. This makes a lot of sense. My dad was the music teacher and PE teacher of the school. At the same school.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Yeah, okay. So she really pushed us to like get involved in different sports. Of course. We actually took part in a tournament with all the schools across the UK. It wasn't a tournament. It was like once a year we all gathered in like mini Olympics. And there wasn't a girls five aside, but there was for boys. And my mom's so passionate and she's so about equality
Starting point is 00:06:38 and being a voice for people that can't find the voice. She wrote to them. She spoke to them actually and said, we need five side for girls. Why not next year? What do you think's happening? Five a side for girls. But she's someone who just encouraged me to try new things, push yourself. If you've got to do something, give it your best and do it to a good standard. Where, where you've been brought up around it, I feel like, and I never know how to word myself properly, but where you've been brought up around it, I feel like, and I never know how to word myself
Starting point is 00:07:06 properly, but where you've been brought up around it, I feel like it's so much more accessible for you to fall into those. It's so much harder being a mum on the outside where I've had nothing. It's been really hard for me to try and get the children into sports, although I've wanted them to be into it, because we're not really a sporty family ourselves. It's been hard to try and be proactive with the children and be like, come on, let's try a sport or let's try this. Now our daughter took a little bit longer, but she's found her little sport that she's loving at the moment. I am an avid football mom.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Um, I'm a Saturday, we're in a Saturday league, we're a Sunday league. We're in an academy. Like it's we're every day. Wow, busy. There is no break for that. We've got to squeeze a little bit of ice skating in for our daughter, but it is really hard. I feel like there's not much advertisement or anything out there that says, come along, join this or try this or why didn't you do this?
Starting point is 00:07:59 It's kind of just, if you fall into it, then great, but there's no one that ever really talks about it. And that's, it's really sad because when I signed, sorry, rambling on, when I signed into football, again, I didn't know anything about it. I just went in mid-season. Yeah, mid-season. And the guy was like, we don't just, you got to wait till like the season ends.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And then you got to wait for like the signing window. And I was like, I just, he just wants to have a kick about on the grass with the ball. This is what I mean. You just don't know. And it's very, and when you're in it, it's, it's a lot, isn't it? You've got to get in with those football mums and let me tell you, their mums, they're crazy. Sorry mums. I'm one of them. Don't worry. I'm speaking for myself, but it's a crazy world out there. Are you shouting from the sidelines? Yes, I am.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Obviously. I clap for both sides of the team. I'm clapping for everybody. I'm supportive on both sides. That's the right answer. Yeah, that's a politically correct answer. No, I do love it. I'm one of those that I do truly believe that I think it's done a lot for my son. Like he was somebody that's, he wouldn't make eye contact with you two, three years ago. He wouldn't hold a conversation. He wouldn't go to parties. He didn't have friends at school.
Starting point is 00:09:13 We enrolled in him football and honestly, he is the most outgoing, confident. I'm just so proud of him because he really has had the biggest change in his whole person since starting football. It's really brought him out of his shell. That's what I love. Yeah. I just need that. The more advertisement, the more talk about it, because unless it's, you go to school and you're, he's got a little friend that plays and we're like, Oh, do
Starting point is 00:09:35 you want to try for the football team? No, there's no talk about it. There's nowhere to say like, Oh, he's now turning five. You can try for football or ice skating or rugby or anything like that, which is a shame. Yeah. Yeah. Is it harder for girls as well? Or do you think that's better now?
Starting point is 00:09:52 No, I would say it's harder for girls. It's really hard for girls. And the problem with girls is, again, I'm not speaking out of turn, I'm gonna try and word it as best as I can. The realm of a sport for girls is way, way, way, from my personal experience, way more competitive. Like dance, gymnastics, like dance mums, dance world is...
Starting point is 00:10:11 Yeah, intense. Wow, that is really, really intense. If anything, for an adult going into that and putting your child into it, for me as an adult, I find it overwhelming to be in that. So yeah, things like gymnastics, dance or anything like that is really, really competitive. Whereas ice skating, you can be a part of a group, but it's very much on your own. And she quite likes that.
Starting point is 00:10:33 So she does her ice skating at the moment, and it's not everyone. And they're diddy, so everyone's like really friendly. But I'm like, I don't know. Don't know if I can get to competition stage, I don't know. I don't know if I'm ready for that. Don't even hope we'm ready for that. And then what was your path up to? Because you've played for some big clubs, right? So what was your path into getting into that?
Starting point is 00:10:54 It was a bit unusual actually. It happened later on in my life after uni. I went, I played at uni and I went back to you with them after I graduated just because I liked it, it was good vibes, I still had friends there. And then a West Ham scout happened to be at the training session, so he invited me down to West Ham. So I went to West Ham, did well, stayed there for a while. And at that point you weren't even potentially like looking at this as like a career,
Starting point is 00:11:21 you were just like, okay. In my heart, actually, in my heart and in my mind, I was just like after career, you were just like, okay. In my heart, actually, in my heart and in my mind, I was just like, after uni, I was just like, I said a little kind of prayer to God, to myself and thought, I wonder if I could have made it or can make it. It was just kind of just like a passing prayer, passing thought.
Starting point is 00:11:41 And then these opportunities started to open up and I was invited to West Ham and then I was actually invited to Tottenham as well, Charlton as well. And then I ended up at Millwall and then later Norian, Enfield Town because I had for so many years, I hadn't had the opportunity to actually, I knew I was good and people said I was good, but the true test is for me is can I get into those high teams, high level teams? And I was able to, which is really encouraging for myself. And then it's not easy at the top either because your body's tired. You've got to maintain a level then.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Yeah, we do an hour in the gym and you're doing all these weights and different things and then another hour outside training and trying to score goals and putting your body on the line. Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot. But I like to tick things off. So I'm like, oh, I could do it. Great.
Starting point is 00:12:44 It's ticked off now. And then, yeah, moved on to like, as I said, Millwall, Leighton, Orient. And then obviously I've branched out. That's why we're here. Yeah. Talking about a few other projects, but, but like you were saying, your son's come out of his shell a lot more, he can, he's got more friends and that's what I love about sport, doesn't have to be football. Sport brings people together. You have, you make friends. You have to
Starting point is 00:13:10 make, develop your decision making. It's good for your mental health. You get your body moving. And I still have friends through football. I've got my group chat. When things go wrong, I tell them when things go right, they celebrate me and it gives me that break in the week as well. Yeah. I get to have a conversation if I'm self-employed, so a lot of time working from home, working with myself or my mom or just a camera person, but it gives you that break. Yes. Which your mind needs to have a conversation, to talk, to communicate, to talk about what
Starting point is 00:13:45 went right, what went wrong. And that is what I love. And that's what's so great about this TV series that I'm in. It's like they are forming friendships and they're making decisions and they're overcoming challenges together because we need each other in life as much as we want to sometimes just get our heads down and be lone wolves and do it ourselves. We actually need community. And I think we can forget about that. But sport ticks one of those boxes and gives us that community that we need, I think.
Starting point is 00:14:16 But it's like I always say, because sport, everyone just thinks, oh, sport is just to, you know, keep children fair. And for me, I don't know if you all agree with me, but for me, the sports side of it was never about keeping Colby fit. It was for him to find himself, to have a group of friends away from school, to have a break from school, the dynamic of school and to find himself and how to treat everybody. Because we are a massive family of talking about lots of different things, because in our house, everybody is just one person.
Starting point is 00:14:49 We're all equal. It doesn't matter in what form we come, what religion, wherever we've traveled in the world, we're a big believer in our house that everybody is just one person. And I want Colby to meet children from different backgrounds and different religions and, you know, and have different morals on life and outlooks and for me that is the most important thing is for them to grow into their own skin because I feel like school can be very very regimental in the fact that you have to conform and fit into a box whereas sport allows you to just be who you want to be and I love the ability that that has for children. So yeah, the fitness
Starting point is 00:15:25 side is great. But really, I think sport for him has taught him so much, so much more, so much resilience, patience, how to be calm, how to act quick in certain situations, which he then can take to school. And that changed his whole outlook on school as well. Yeah, so many transferable skills. So many. Well, since we're talking about the TV show, let's talk about it. This is so exciting. I want to know how this happened. Nobody even knows what we know, but you don't know. Oh yeah. Do you want to announce it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:56 No pressure. No pressure. Everybody listen up. Listen now to the important announcement. Football Fantastix is out now on CBeebies. Do not miss out. Do not miss out. This is for everyone. Listen, I was in a studio the other day having a quick view of it. And honestly, I wanted to sit down and watch the whole thing. So I think the whole family is gonna enjoy it,
Starting point is 00:16:19 although it's on CBeebies. Yeah, whole family, sit down, enjoy. And you won't be disappointed. Oh, you should be really proud of yourself. I'm so excited to watch it. I'm so excited. Did you just get like scouted for this or did you have to audition or how did this come about? Yes, so I have an acting agent and I had, I got my acting agent because they came to watch one of,
Starting point is 00:16:44 I was doing a theatre show actually about something about football, celebrating the first black lionesses and mixed race lionesses. And they came and they put me on the books. Then they, a year later, they sent me this audition, which said we're looking for a coach for this program and she's really passionate about football. And I was like, what? This is just my dream role. Hold on. Was it just made for you? It was like it was made for me. Honestly, when I saw it, I was like, this one is the one I really want this one. Acting and football, my two passions and coaching.
Starting point is 00:17:25 I have my coaching qualifications, it all makes sense. So I did my tape, dragged my mom involved, got my mom involved. Your mom sounds like a star. Your mom just sounds like your biggest cheerleader in the world. Honestly, she's amazing. She's amazing, she wanted to come today,
Starting point is 00:17:41 but she had another meeting. We'll get her on. We'll get her on another time. We'll just come back now. And she's raised four children and my other brothers. Yeah, she's probably got so many stories. And she's got grandchildren. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Yes, she's a powerhouse. Yeah. And a head teacher, come on. Oh, what the? And she manages me. Oh my God, stop. What a queen. Where was I?
Starting point is 00:18:01 Yeah, so once I saw it in my inbox, I was like, I'm pulling out all the stops. So I got my mom to say the lines with me. I was, I put my coaching gear on, my football gear, all my equipment, my drinks bottle. And I just gave it everything. I gave it everything. Georgie, who I play, she's a passionate coach,
Starting point is 00:18:22 football mad, she lives and breathes football. It was basically just you. It was written for me, they just didn't know it. And then they, I sent it off, then I had to do a second audition where I was like, I feel nervous. Just listen, this is, I know you must have been so nervous because you really wanted it. I really wanted it. But were you nervous? It felt so natural as well. Yeah, that's what I was about to say. Were you nervous or was it just, it just came, you were just in it because it was made for you? I was just in it.
Starting point is 00:18:50 I'm going to be honest. I was just in it. I just wanted it that much. And I knew I had a good chance. I mean, I feel like you were the only one in the audition process. I feel like they've told you there's more people there. They did say, they said quite a few people went for it but when they saw my tape they were
Starting point is 00:19:08 none. They were pretty confident. She's the one. They just kept inviting you back just to make you work for it a bit. You got to follow procedure. Yeah, yeah exactly. They said they liked the warmth that I brought and they could see that actually and genuinely quite a caring person and I'm passionate about the children and wanting the best for them, which I really am. I really am and it just pulls me back this mud and everything because I had to be kicking all these weeds. It was part of the thing and I was kicking them and celebrating and then had to wait for my answer and I kept saying, mom, I really want it. I kept saying to my partner, I really want it. And then I was doing actually a panel talk at St. George's Park when I got the call.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Oh my gosh. And I couldn't take it. My mom took it. Oh my, did you tell her though take it. My mom took it. Oh my, didn't tell her though. And they were saying to me. Did they tell your mom? Yeah, they tell my mom. Oh my gosh, your mom's like.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Yeah, she took the call. She's like, come here, I've got something to tell you. Get out of my way. Get out of here. I was on a panel talk, we were talking about football and faith and what's my journey and everything. And then one of the questions was like, what's next? In my head, I'm thinking. Your mom's like, you got a TV show. You got three movies, my girl. She. And then one of the questions was like, what's next? And in my head I'm thinking-
Starting point is 00:20:25 Your mom's like, you got a TV show? You got three movies, my girl. She couldn't communicate that with me. So I was like, I wanna write a children's book. Oh my God, I bet she was gonna burst trying to tell you. In my head I was like, I do wonder if I've got it, but I hadn't had the news yet. And then after it, once filming the rap,
Starting point is 00:20:40 mom was like, you got the job. Oh my God, I could have said that on the panel. Oh my God, I would gonna go back up and grab the mic and go on doing FIFL FANTASY. And it was just just joy. It feels like a dream honestly. It feels like a dream is such a blessing and to still be doing something which is sporty. You've got everything all rolled into one. It's honestly such a blessing. But you've worked so hard to be here and honestly so deserving. What a fantastic journey and what couldn't be given to a better person honestly. We're so excited.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I'm so excited to watch. I'm so excited to watch it. Don't worry about you. She don't even watch telly. No. So you best believe I'm your number one fan. Excuse me. CB Beast is on in our house 24 seven.
Starting point is 00:21:21 She doesn't. I'm a huge fan. You can get it on the app don't worry. Yes. You don't even have to put your TV on. I'll be watching it without. You watch MILFs. MILFs, maths. Oh, same thing.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Oh, Married at First High. Yeah. Listen, no Charlotte, no. That is an interesting program. Come on. She's watched it with the children. I watched a lot of reality TV. Oh, with the children.
Starting point is 00:21:37 I also watched TVBs. Sometimes I watch TVBs on my own after my children have gone to bed. Why do we do this? I don't know. Remember the times I sit there and I'm watching and I'm like, why am I still watching this? And then a good hour deep and then I'm like, why am I watching this? But with Football Fantastic, she'll be like,
Starting point is 00:21:50 kids go to bed so I can concentrate on this. I'll be reminded, like, I need to catch up on episode three. Yeah. Wait till I tell the children, that's my friend. Yeah, I know. Text her. Oh my gosh. Okay, not that far. Yeah, I think my mum said, people are going to start calling you Georgie in the streets now. Oh, yes. It is going to happen, isn't it? Yeah, that will happen.
Starting point is 00:22:10 It's all good. It's quite nice though, because then it's, because it can be quite overwhelming, I can imagine for you in the street to be stopped by people. So sometimes to be stopped with a different name kind of feels like that's just your role. Yeah. And it also means people really believe the character. It means you're convincing, you know? I feel like you're no different though.
Starting point is 00:22:28 I feel like you're just the same as Georgie. Yeah. You're just you. Just you. Well, I am so excited to watch. I cannot wait. So thank you for joining us today, Charlotte. Thanks for having me.
Starting point is 00:22:40 But you are more than welcome to stick around for the rest of the episode if you'd like. Let's do it. Let's do it. I have to. No, you'd like. Let's do it. Let's do it. If I have to. No, you two have been so encouraging, honestly. You are so sweet. You can come every week, honestly.
Starting point is 00:22:52 You guys are so encouraging. I mean, but to be fair, we're off for you this and you're just too busy. You can't fit in. I try and squeeze you in. If you have any comments, thoughts or funny stories, why not get in touch? You can email us hello at secretmumpod.com or with Secret Mumpod on TikTok and Instagram. And next is time for one of your secrets. So welcome back.
Starting point is 00:23:19 We love a secret on the Secret Mump Club. And you're all so good at sharing. So Emma, what secret do you have for me and Charlotte this week? Because Charlotte is still here with us. All right, this one comes from Kelly. She says, hello, wonderful ladies. Soph, you talking about the fear of rejoining the gym is so real. I've tried so many times to pluck up the courage and get going,
Starting point is 00:23:36 but I just never feel comfortable enough to do what I want to do. It can be super intimidating to exercise around a bunch of strangers. Do you have any tips for trying to push yourself to get back into exercise without feeling so self-conscious? Well I would like some tips because I still haven't gone. I still haven't pushed myself back. Emma's in the gym though, we were just talking to Charlotte because we, you've been in the gym not necessarily now. Not recently. By force. By force. Yeah. Strength and conditioning for football. You've had to do it as part of football but you're not a fan. I'd rather chase a ball, do some badminton, win something. Walk. Achieve. Yeah. Anywhere. Yeah. Yeah. Take a walk.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I just can't bring this, one of those things, right, there's things like going into a car garage, a hairdresser's, a gym. Intimidating. So I just can't, and I'm not, I'm quite a confident person, but these things, I just can't seem to wrap my head around or do them. No, they are hard. It is a lot. It is hard. I think I said to you last week when we were talking
Starting point is 00:24:36 about this or week four. You're back in. I am back in the gym, but I honestly don't go and do like solo workouts much. I'd much rather do like a class or something involving other people or somewhere where I've got someone shouting at me for motivation.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Cause otherwise in the gym, I'm just a bit like aimless. But what I did to get myself back in the gym, cause I didn't work out for like a year after I had my baby, Sadie, and she's one. So I hadn't been for ages. So what I did when I joined back was got a personal trainer for like two or three sessions, got them to kind of show me what to do, say what I wanted to achieve. And then I basically just did that when I went back in the gym.
Starting point is 00:25:12 So then I was confident because they'd showed me like going and picking up a weight off a rack is really intimidating. Like you don't know what weight you should lift. You don't know what to exercise you should do with it. So when you fully committed to the weight and you're like, oh, that's 20 grade gin, it's breaking my arms. That's another hemorrhoid in my head. Exactly. So get someone to show you, if that's an option at your gin. And then just kind of copy what they've showed you
Starting point is 00:25:33 afterwards. I do get stuck on a bit of a one track thing. I'm like, this is what they've showed me. This is what I'm doing. I'm like a robot. But yeah, it just like- Someone did say to me to do the personal training for a couple of weeks to then again follow the routine of that.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And I don't know if there's gyms. Is it bad to go to just a women's only gym? I think there are women only gyms. Well my gym near me has a women's weight section in it. That's great. I mean that hasn't still convinced me that I need to go there. That's good though because I don't want to be around those sweaty men. Yeah, but I don't even know what it is, because I don't know that I'm even bothered about male or female. It's just no one is looking at me, obviously.
Starting point is 00:26:16 No one is looking at me, but I feel like everybody. What's holding you back? Is it knowing what to do, or is it even if you know what to do, you'd feel self-conscious? Or both. And maybe you just don't enjoy it and you don't have to. Do you know what, right? I was just about to say, Charlotte, you just hit the bloody nail on the head. I just think I don't frigging want to. You need to be a footballer, don't you? Do you know what? I've got unbelievable techers. I can kick a good goal.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Enjoying the football team. Oh, that might be a bit far. I wouldn't say I'm that good. There's so many sports other than the gym. And I feel like there is a lot of pressure to go to the gym. There is a lot of pressure. And it's very daunting. Do you know what I watched on social media, right? There was a girl who did a video, sorry, I digressed. She was like, oh, I struggled to get back into street dance because she'd done street
Starting point is 00:26:59 dance before she had a baby and she loved it. And she tried to get back into it and she couldn't find her groove. Then it went to a clip of her doing line dancing and she was just beaming. Like when I tell you, I'd never seen a smile so big on this lady who was just dancing away in her little cowboy boots and her floaty dress. And she was just like, it's because street dance just wasn't my thing anymore. I found my new thing. Maybe I would maybe not line dancing, but maybe I just need to find my new... Your jam.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Yeah. I love walking so much. But walking takes a lot of my time because I get really into walking. Then I walk for four hours and I've wasted half the day. It is time consuming. And I've got to go back on the score. I love to walk. Like I find so much peace in walking. And I think as a mum as well, you get so into the groove of walking with a pram that you just keep going and going and going. If you've got some good music on or a good podcast to listen to, I really get into that and then I kind of lose myself of walking, but I then lose the whole day. You know, it does take a long time.
Starting point is 00:27:52 It is a bit. What about getting into a team though? Cause I think I would find that quite intimidating turning up to a team that already exists and being like, can I join? Do you know what? I was, I was on a podcast with Gals FC the other week and they exist just for fun. They don't count the points, they don't count the scores. It's not about who's the better player. Everyone's welcome. And I feel like that's perfect for some people because you don't have to be elite.
Starting point is 00:28:18 You don't have to be competitive. You don't have to score goals. It's literally just about community. No pressure, just vibes. And it's so warm and welcoming. So I just want to shout them out and say that is a great place for people to start. I wouldn't have even known that was a thing. I would have thought joining a team would have been super competitive. No, it doesn't have to be. And I think that's great because people have a tough week already, moms and daughters and everyone. And I truly believe as a parent, even as a woman, I feel like we do need a break from work whether that's five minutes, 10 minutes, an hour. And it definitely has to be something you really love. And I think if going to the gym, for me personally, I think if going to
Starting point is 00:28:58 the gym is this much of a headfuck for me, like it's really stressful. Yeah, there's a real barrier. It's clearly just not for me. Like it's really stressful. Yeah, there's a real barrier. It's clearly just not for me. Maybe not. And I love that. And I guess it's just finding out what works best for you. Yeah. There's a fun, there's some really fun classes by me.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Like one of them bungee ones, you know, that looks great. Oh yeah, I've seen that. Oh yeah, that looks really fun, doesn't it? Try one of those. Peter Panning out of the building, me. I'm like, woo! Have we helped this lady? Yeah, sorry, so Kelly.
Starting point is 00:29:28 This is what I mean, we're not here, we're just here to share. We digress. We did digress, but I think Charlotte's right. I think you've hit the nail on the head in the fact that if it is too overwhelming in your mind. Maybe the gym's just not for you. Maybe the gym's just not for you.
Starting point is 00:29:40 But if it is that you really, really set your heart on going to the gym, like Emma said, get a personal trainer. Yeah, that's a really good option. Yeah, will drive you into knowing where or what to use in the gym so that every time you go in, you can maybe just change up your routine a little bit. But being that you're more comfortable with the machines.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Like using the equipment and stuff. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. And a lot of times nobody's really looking and nobody really cares. Yeah. People are more self-obsessed than... I literally said this last week. I was like, people in the gym are obsessed with themselves. They're looking at nobody really cares. People are more self-obsessed than looking at you to be honest. I literally said this last week.
Starting point is 00:30:05 I was like, people in the gym are obsessed with themselves. They're looking at themselves in the mirror. They're not looking at you. That was Emma as she was looking back at me. Okay, gym goers, I'm looking at you. And myself in the mirror. Guilty. Do you have any tips on getting back into the gym? Then let us know. And a massive thank
