Oh, no. Well, hello, everyone, welcome to seeking derangement. This is your host, Ben. Joining me today is the one-and-only astrologist, Carol Star. You may know her from her Instagram videos. Carol, that's how I found you was through your Instagram videos. Or TikTok. Or TikTok.

The thing that first drew me in was your very specific, how should I say, angle on astrology. I don't know if this was a series you did, but there were a few videos that really made me laugh. like most irritating and annoying gay guy. Today, the most irritating and annoying gay guy of the Zodiac. And you guys know, I don't play favorites with anybody. The most annoying gay guy of the Zodiac happens to be Sagittarius. They think they know everything and they have a saying for everything and they drive you nuts sometimes. You know what?

I'm going to cut you off here. Please. One of the things that is upsetting me today. Are they all these new astrologers? Okay. Yes. They are very good digitally. Wow, I could use their services, actually.

And they either scare people or they alight them. They don't understand. Astrology does not say, when they get up there, do you hear them say, well, the mood is changing in, is in Scorpio. You're going to have this happen to you. This happened to you. And this is going to go wrong. And this is not like that.

Everything is good. It's a guide. Well, and I think a lot of the new astrologers, especially ones on digital platforms, they play favorites. And I know you don't play favorites when you say, you know, the most annoying and irritating gay guys, the most powerful gay guys, the most dangerous gay guy was one of my favorite videos. You always say, I don't play favorites. I'm telling you what the just the play factor. Since you brought that up, yes. I used to do a lot of videos before the gay and lesbian community. Okay. And I stopped, you know, and I thought,

But they don't, they were really good on TikTok and I didn't, and I really like doing them, you know, I like that there is a difference. There is, yeah, for sure. There's a difference in the personalities, how they are, how they feel. I mean, we're all human beings with emotions and caring or being obnoxious and terrible too. Like I remember to use that word. That's going, obnoxious and terrible, you'll get me a lot of dudes and a lot of complaints. Oh, my God. I have to tell you some really exciting news.

Please. And I want you to pray for this. I got a call from NBC, the Today Show. Whoa. And wanting me to be a regular on that Jenna and friends with an astrology spot. Wow. Yeah, but I kind of feel like since they want to talk to me on the phone that they're thinking about me. Right.

Of course. They'll probably test you out to see how, they'll do chemistry. test between you and the host and see what you're back and forth is like, but you're a charming talkative person. I think you'll, you'll fly through that. No problem. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Of course. But the, you know, the astrology, okay, I want to talk a lot about astrology day because that's whisters are. But, you know, it's the algorithms are really the whole, no, I'm going to say the algorithm. The whole marketing and the whole attitude online is changed, has become hype, Quick, fast, make it happen, say it, do it, whatever.

And so you have to cut your videos down and a half size. And you have to reach people with the big words. And probably say I'm going to do it like everybody else. And I mean, I will see some of the videos on they come up while I'm doing it like seven, seven seconds. You know, what? So the woman walks across the street. So what's the big deal? I mean, let's find out where she's going.

Right. And I also, I feel like it's really frying people's attention spans as well. Oh, yeah. And that is a, you know, and I, you know why. There's one big problem today. What is it? Too many choices with everything. Yes. I completely agree. Yeah. Food or whether it's restaurants or whether it's, um, used to be there was a doctor and a nurse. And today they have a tech for this, a tech for that nurse practitioner. And they have a new degree you can. get it's called um what is it my granddaughter graduated with um digital communication now right well what is that you know i mean okay i know digital i know the word communicate but what it just it just means it just means like a lot of it is coming up with strategies for brands to sell products online to a younger demographic

oh i know essentially what it is good yeah yeah but it existentially what even is it why do we need it You know, we probably don't, but it's just another excuse of companies to make money. So I've been talking to you for about five minutes, and I haven't asked you where your birthday is. Now, come on. That is, I'm falling down on the job. Well, I want you to guess. Well, you know what? People are not like their sun sign all the time.

You know, I, it is. And there's so many variety. Everybody has this variety with every sign. There's wonderful cancer, terrible cancer people. I'm going to wash your eyes and when you go like this, I'll know I need it. okay well i'll i'll give you a hint what oh yeah no no no please give me your first talk give me your first i don't know i think you're a virgo i'm not a virgo okay i'll i'm too disorganized to be a vergo and i'll just you're a libra you've got to be a libra i am yeah i'm so

i know you're a libra i know you're a libra i'm not a libra i will give you a hint here carroll okay i i will first i'll preface this by saying i don't really know all that that much about astrology. I'm interested in it. I mean, I do know enough about astrology, but not maybe willfully. I used to live in Denver, Colorado, which I know you may be familiar with.

I was there. I've been there. It's a huge astrology town. So I lived there when I was a bit younger and I would have people constantly tell me this and that about my entire birth chart. So I know the birth chart for myself. But I don't,

Maybe ask me some questions to kind of... And you may not be like your sun's side, you're more like your rising sign. You know, are you familiar with sun, moon, rising in the planet? Yes, yes. I one time, one time someone asked me what my sun, moon, and rising was at a party. I didn't know this person.

It was the first conversation I had them. They said, that's evil. And they walked away from me. Are you a Scorpio? I am, I have a Scorpio moon. Okay, because that people think Scorpios are evil And it's so untrue, you know, I'll tell you one sign that's evil, but I know I will tell you off air, not on air. And it's just because I think, I think I hope it's not my sign.

No, no, it's not. Do I see evil to you? Yes. Well, there's. Yes. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. What do I do?

So you know, you know, your son sign is your basic personality. Your moon sign is your emotional personality, and it's even your food preferences. And also, rising sign is just the way people see you. That's all. Really? Nothing more complicated in how you appear into the outside world. Wait, moon sign helps determine your food preferences? Yeah, that's part of it.

Yeah. Well, I'll tell you, I try to avoid carbs and I try to eat whole foods. I try to avoid processed sugar, which I do, of course, indulgent. I'm not a vegan. I'm not a vegetarian. I like red meat. If you can afford it today. I know it's crazy.

You know, I mean, my husband does the grocery shopping. And I'll say, just get it. Whatever I, you know, what I want. You know, we don't go out to dinner because where we live, the food is terrible. And why spend $150. You know, listen, I just going to tell you, we were in, like I came up for Thanksgiving and there was Thanksgiving dinner for there were $15. My son paid for over $3,000.

Oh, I know. That's crazy. No, it's crazy what they charge because a lot of it is it's the same stuff they get at the grocery store or maybe sometimes worse because it's not a big deal. I love to cook because I know what's in the food. I'm very healthy. I can tell you. You're looking extremely healthy. No vegans.

No vegetarians. But probably 60% of our diet, there's two rules. 60% of our diet is fresh produce or more. Yeah. Yeah. And also 90% of what you eat. should not have a label on it. I agree.

Yes. Yeah, that's my. And it's very hard and very expensive to do that nowadays. It doesn't, no, I disagree. You disagree. It doesn't have to be. You know, you shop for, you know, there's always something on sale. If you eat a lot of produce, it is not expensive.

What's expensive is the cookies, the cakes, and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. You can eat ground turkey, ground chicken is a lot. I do have ground turkey sometimes. Yes. Buy food on sale. My husband. He finds, he lists me all his bargains, you know, that he's done.

I said, listen, as long as you do my shopping, whatever you buy is fine. So anyway, you're rising signs. So you have a Scorpio moon sign. So I have a Scorpio moon sign. That makes you very intense. You have a lot of emotional feelings. You're very caring. And also, I would expect that someone like you would be careful about what you eat because you are, you have good intent.

It's about your intentions. Well, I'm gay. Yeah. Well, that's okay. that's not even an issue but the point is that has nothing to do with what you eat right okay okay what you eat is you want to eat healthy because we know today it's the only thing we can control in our right we can't control the medical community we can't control the prices but we control what we eat yeah you can't fix society but you can fix yourself

society might not be healthy but you can be healthy people eat so awful but i can not I know that. I can tell you by Zodiac sign, right? Anyway, the important thing is just to tell you to me is to help people. Now, I like to get paid. You know, I'm not going to lie. I'd love to get paid. We all have to make money. Number one, I have bills to pay, but it also gives me my value. People are willing to pay. Whatever it is, I have all ranges of prices. Not like some of these are going on $1,000 an hour and out. You do know that. Some of these are insane. I know a girl who once went into massive credit card debt because she was seeing an astrologer once a week. And she based her all of her life, you know, decisions based off this astrologer. I was telling me, I was like, girl, you're getting fleeced by this person. You are getting. Because guess what? Their life hasn't gotten any better.

Well, okay, this is it. We are totally in control of our lives. Okay. Yeah. And we know we make decisions that are bad that things turn out good. Sometimes we would make good decisions that things turn out back and forth. Right. But we're in charge of what we do every day, how we're going about it, and we can't control the algorithms all the time.

That's about that. So I feel when, you know, let's see, all the planets are retrograde right now. Now, in fact, I'm sorry, Saturn finally went direct, and it's going to head, it's in Pisces, but it's headed towards Ares. But Mercury is not retrograde anymore. But Jupiter is still retrograde, and we also have, oh, my gosh, I can't think them. All most of them are retrograde. Retrograde. People think,

my life is over. I swear to God, they do. I said, you know what? Well, I always hear people say that and something terrible will happen. And then a friend of mine will be like, oh, Mercury's in retrograde. And sometimes I'm like, what the hell does that have to do with it? It does. You know what?

For me, okay, my moon sign and rising sign are ruled by Mercury. And I do notice, okay, here's the two fallacies about astrology. I do notice that more than, things go wrong like my computer breaks down or that my printer's not working or i didn't get an email those kind of stuff they're all communication things but okay let's say i just got up and i'm telling all your audience okay if you are a scorpio this is what's going to happen to you now let's say there's 20 000 people listening it's going to happen to a certain percentage because it's just a normal thing right and you're going to meet someone and fall in love right sounds pretty good to me you know and

And so there is going to be people to say, Carol is so accurate. She told me I was going to fall in love. But 99% of them, nothing happened. Well, I also feel like there's a, there's a certain self-fulfilling prophecy and a certain the power of suggestion. Once you hear something, then it can manifest because you open up, you open up yourself conceptually to new realms of life, love, you know, et cetera. And I think some of the power comes from just the mere, you know, suggestion.

I can tell by the comment. I get, you know? And I do, even when numbers are lower, I always get a lot of comments. And I really like that. I try to answer, you know, I can't answer them all, but I try to do some because I think. Do you think the biggest effect you've had in your readings on someone has been? Well, you know, I, it's really funny. And I don't mean that I'm a shrinking violet by any means. I don't think about many years ago, I was like a big number one star in Phoenix when I was like younger. Astrology. I was on TV. radio and everything. I never felt it. I thought it was, you know. And to me, honestly, it sounds very altruistic that I'm really here to do readings and to help people. That's my goal. And I'm an artist and I'll tell you about what I do with art. Is that one of your paintings behind you? Yeah, yeah. But I do astrology women, ladies on journals. Journaling is very big today and also tote bags. And later I'll show you a few of them. Please get that out. That's one of my big things to do. Because painting is what soothes the savage soul.

Yeah. Maybe I should start painting. So I don't know your birthday yet. For God's sake, Ben, don't eat. I'll just tell you. I'll just tell you. My birthday is December 11th. I'm a Sagittarius.

With an Ares rising and a Scorpio moon, which people always have a negative reaction to. Those three together. I'm the only Zodiac sign that nobody ever says anything bad about me. Tell me, oh, Libra, I have all these great friends of Libra. I mean, I have nothing bad to say about, well, I love Libra women. Okay, so I get a door today. Right.

I love that. So you're in Sagittarius and Arias, a lot of energy. You put a lot of energy into this podcast. Yeah. But is this what you do or you have other things? This is my main job. Yeah, this is my main source of income. There's two other people that are usually on the show with me,

but I wanted to have a one-on-one interview with you because I'm taking my birthday off. I said, you guys do an episode. I'll do an episode. That's just mine and I'll take my birthday off. So this will be released probably on my birthday. Okay, which is the December 11th. Next Thursday. Next week. Yeah. Okay. So, well, you wanted to ask some questions for a little bit and then I'll interrupt you because I always do. Well, okay, now that you know I'm in Sagittarius, is Sagittarius your most, is that the evil sign that you don't like? No. I have two very, I have five close girlfriends and two of them were Sagittarians and I really like them. I do. I love Sagittarians and it's like any zodiac's fine. They can be wonderful or they can be awful.

Right, right. Like anybody. You did call in your video most annoying and irritating gay guy, you did say it was Sagittarius and then you gave the runner up Aries because they're always, you said, you know, how old? That's an old video. Well, did you mean it? No, I changed from It's true. Look, I'll be the first one to say, I can be very annoying and irritating. And, you know, sometimes is a lot of, you know, videos, they're sort of humor. And sometimes I just sort of, okay, because it's not real astrology. Well, it's pop astrology. Yeah, not in 15 seconds or 30 seconds.

Of course. I'm not going to be able to say very much. Right. So, but I'd like to, when I do a reading, I'm really serious. Okay. And I always start reading with someone with what it's face to face. I want to hear all the things that make you happy in your life. What's good in your life? So they get them on that path and they tell me that. And then we talk about their problems and it's diluted. It's not so serious when they tell me they've got a relationship problem, but they have a great job. You have a home to live and they have food on their table. I said, you've got a lot. Right. Relationships come and go. they do yeah they come and go and um things haven't changed sometimes one word and so many people want these relationships back that these guys are just really bad you know they're not nice to them they cheat on them and they they still want them back right don't tell them they all come back

eventually everybody is almost everybody returns at some point do you think so yeah i you know if they leave they ghost them for a while they think about them and they come back and then they leave again. Right. That I, this is a feeling. I think that relationship should be easy from the beginning. Other than the usual, you know, the usual stuff you have. And if you're worried about what that person's doing or what they're doing and thinking,

get out of the relationship. Right. Toxic. That's a red flag. Well, one problem I've had, which I have moved past my life when I was younger, I, in some sense, really thrive on conflict. in relationships and not genuine kind of, you know. You're an Aries, got an Aries rising and Aries are in trouble.

Right. Yeah. And you know, think about it though. You know, think about, you know, I've had, I've been married a long time, second husband, and my first husband always, no problems. I mean, oh, a lot of me, you know what I mean. I never thought that, oh, he's leaving. Does he love me?

Is he kind of call? Right. And I think when you thrive on that, if that worry, it's a need you have. You know, it's a need. But maybe you haven't really found somebody that you really, really care about. Well, the problem is every other. And I think this is maybe just has something to do with being gay because a lot of gay men can be obstinate emotionally and can be very fiercely independent as I am, satirious. But I think because of that, a lot of the emotional terrain is usually.

conflict-ridden because that's in some way where a lot of gay guys feel secure because they don't really now that in my experience and maybe that's just who i attract you looking at you look about 30 i'm 30 i got your birthday right yeah what means you really looks a lot younger but i thought you were about 30 i'm 30 yeah yeah okay and um but do you really let me ask you do you really want to have a relationship that is total commitment and total monogamy you don't well total if if i had a relationship i would want it to be monogamous because i mean also a lot of gay guys are just in completely open relationships which isn't necessarily for me i date around but i travel too much i really like being independent i don't want to have to be responsible for someone else's

emotions. You could call that just pure selfishness and maybe that's what it is. No, I just call that's the way you are and then you recognize it and you're probably better off not in a 20-year relationship. But that's okay. I always feel that whatever path you follow that it works for you and you feel like you got to wake up in the morning and love your life. You got it, not every day, you know, some days. Oh my God. But for the most part, do you love what you're doing? Do you love your friends. You love, you know, I've been married for like 150 years. You know, and we are not perfect. But I love my husband. And I love to be with him. And he does some of the most irritating, awful things like everybody. And they don't bother me anymore. Been with me a long

time. But if you would wake up and that isn't working and you know what you're doing, you wake up a jarred every day. There's enough in regular life to date. You know, like God forbid your bill bill comes in and it's wrong you know how long it takes to straighten out a bill today oh god don't get me started and we do everything online my husband will say up they they didn't send me the bill this happened and I get and it takes there's some things that have taken games and what was wrong with the way things used to happen was that was that system faulty in some way no you know what I loved life I still love my life. But I love the fact, example, when I got divorced a lot of years ago, all I had to do was worry

about my checkbook. And now, oh my God, if it's going to happen, we would have so many problems and so much stuff to worry about everything. Right, right. Life has gotten with AI and with computers, life has gotten far more complicated. Well, and like precisely what bothers me the most about it is has become less functional. I mean, the promise of tech integration into all of our lives is that, oh, everything will be easier. Everything is streamlined. In fact, no, it's not. It's just a big money grab on the part of all these tech companies to force it on us, but things aren't more functional. No, they're online. There's a source for everything you need done. Right. And more than, I mean,

lots of them. We will do this for you. We will do that. And automate the automation. That's the big keyword you know get a robot they have a thing now when somebody dies you can take their voice their voice their people and they make a person who walk around the house and talk to you like i have they really creeped out isn't that horrifying let's let someone die i don't want if you die i don't want to have to see you every day yeah anyway i think you know we can complain we can talk about life and i think a lot of people over the last 10 years have turned to astrology They may not want to go to church And they will believe in the universe

And feel that there are answers Right And there are and there aren't You know, like what we talked about Yeah, and I think that The most important thing I do for someone Is I spend on a reading Sometimes three quarter of it

Never even mentioning astrology Just helping them solve them Knowing what their reading is And using that But not using it. Sure. When did you first get into astrology? I was an observation. astrologer, oh God, like 40 years ago and when I was living in Phoenix, and I decided I went to a class.

I took a paralegal class. And my first husband said, you'll make it through one class. I didn't even make it through the first class. I left all my books and left it. I had my chart done. And after that, I was hooked. I decided this is why. And then I decided I wanted to become well known. So I got my radio. and TV. This was even then. I was a TV on radio and syndicated column and on the magazines and also invited as a celebrity to for contests, you know, right. Beest a bowl for a chili eating content, whatever. And you did astrology at a chili eating contest? No, no, no, no, no. I did. I was asked to do everything. Oh, oh. And so what happens

like anything. If you don't propagate and get it going, it dies. And as soon the radio, station wanted a different format. And I didn't have anything to back it up with. And I was going through a divorce. Right. So, but this is in the way, I like where I'm at, you know, I always would like to have, you know, more readings. And more this or more that and everything. And I've had, I've gone through 14 digital marketers. Explain that. Okay. After two weeks, they don't know my name. anymore they're great I go to my husband I'm so excited I got this guy he's going to do this and do this and so this one is you're going to laugh okay so a couple weeks went by and I asked me I said you know where's this or that he said oh he said

I said I had to pray all day so I said well I appreciate that but what about the last two weeks right what are you praying for someone to do your job? Yeah. So I'll get on it. I said, it's too late. And the other ones start out. And I should have, sometimes I've paid an advance, which I've learned to do, a big company. And they screwed everything up. Well, you know, they scam, they scam the hell out of you. I can tell you, I have two shows. And one of them is, is getting a lot of traction right now. And there's all these talent agencies. There's all these digital marketers. They'll come to you. And they'll say, we'll do this. We'll do that. We'll do this. We'll do that. But at the end of the day, you're one client on a list of hundreds for this big company and if your videos aren't like immediately going viral videos they made mind you if those aren't immediately going viral you're bumped down to the bottom of the list because someone else is it's like they're just playing it's like gambling you know they're just seeing who wins and then they'll elevate the winner and kind of forget about the rest while taking your money they do promise your money back and try to get it I try right I cut them off

they offered me extra months I said I don't want you're working for me. So most of them are very nice people. And I just noticed after a couple weeks they kind of lost their energy. I paid way too much money. So do you have someone doing it now for you? Yeah, she's a friend. She's very digitally smart and it's a little slower. And she doesn't even care if I pay her. You know, she just, hey, it's getting done. Yeah. But she has a good past. She had a big production company, the biggest in Las Vegas for all the sales. And she also, I don't know if you ever heard of Peter Schiff, does that name familiar?

He's a finance guy. I don't think so. She's her son-in-law and she did book for them and she did all podcasts. She knows how to do everything. She knows what she's doing. Yeah. Yeah. And so it's working out and I even hire someone to contact podcasts, do this, this, and that.

I pay them really well. So I said, have you done anything yet? I've got a few names I thought, and she needs the money. It doesn't even matter if people need money. they don't want to work i mean that's also a huge problem with a lot of younger people as well there is and i don't want to individualize the problem because i do think for younger people working can be a lot more alienating like you don't understand what you're working the product you're selling is like these are older these are not young people oh they're old some some

some are their 20s okay and yeah but i have had some um in their 40s and 50s But your Instagram and TikTok is every time I see it all the time. You're doing great on Instagram and TikTok. I know how to do my own stuff, but I need help with my website has a problem. Or right now I'm having a problem with my cell phone with I can't get Instagram up on the internet only on my cell phone, that kind of stuff. Right. I have someone do my newsletter for me. I don't want to be bothered with that.

I don't have the time. And so you just need. Yeah, thankfully, I can do my own videos. They're not fancy, but people... They look great, Carol. Your videos, they look great. That's how I found you from the videos. Speaking of, you said you used to do a lot of videos

focused on gay and lesbian life, but you did you stop? Did you stop? Well, I, you know what? I went on Instagram and I got a lot of bad feedback on that. How so? And... From gays? No.

You know, people said, don't do. Just a few, it wasn't even a lot, but enough. You can't listen to the haters. You're always going to get some negative comments. I need to go back. If you'll even mention that sometime, I'll start doing some. If you get the word, I help me get the word out. Of course.

That, you know, one of these things doing podcasts for me is that, you know, I don't charge. Because I don't want to get money. I don't want to get paid for doing a podcast. But I would like a little help sometimes. Well, I'll, I'll make sure that it. And I'll make sure that all of your links are included. Yeah, I don't even worry about it. And also, I'll pay you for the reading.

No, I'll pay you for your time. No, I don't want you to. I just want, it just wants your help. Okay. Yeah, anytime. I mean, I would tell you to go make my, I mean, if you want my branding advice, I would tell you to make more videos about gay and lesbian life. Okay.

And maybe even transgender Carol, because, you know, transgender is big right now, too. Yeah, I know. And I got to be real careful with it, too, though. you know i have to yeah you know i don't i don't think you need to be that careful about it i'll be honest with you okay no i did really well and i don't i don't know other astrologer i haven't seen any other ones that do it have you there's not many i mean there are some you know specifically LGBTQ astrologers but i do there are but i don't think there as big as you and i'll tell you this carroll i think people want to hear your perspective about gay and lesbian life more than

they'd want to hear another gay person's perspective because you're coming from a unique angle on it you know and so then when you're right it makes you look even more correct because well why would you know you're not gay you know but i've always had i've had gay friends i've been around i mean it's not like i have cousins that are you know and it's it is about it doesn't make you a different person it doesn't make you know it's the way you prefer you're living your lifestyle and that's your choice people have worse lifestyle they they what they do with their lives they i have a neighbor who is that it's just drunk all the time do you know what i mean that kind of stuff is to me is far worse than on your physical preferences which is well yeah it's not

it's not direct body it doesn't you know i have i have clients um i don't get as many clients very few gay but they'll let me know and we talk about it we talk about their problems and their relationships. And there's a lot of similarity, but there's a lot of differences in the way. And when you mentioned something to me about sometimes in the gay relationship, they get antagonistic or they are, there's a lot of open relationships. And I think. Many open relationships. And see why they would feel more comfortable about that than heterosexual. Well, yeah. Obviously there. This is always a risk of getting, I know, should I say it, getting pregnant and having problems. Of course. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's a lot easier. Believe me, it's a lot less to worry about

And it's accepted more. You know, it's not accepted in the heterosexual having open relationships. It's not a common thing that I shouldn't say that in my world. Well, I mean, there's like swingers and stuff. And with younger people, yeah, yeah, yeah, but that's been around forever. Yeah, that's old stuff. But we're talking about people today. First of all, women don't want to have babies today.

They don't want to get married. There's a schools are closing up, down because there's no kids to go there. And they're being homeschooled, true. A lot of it's homeschool. A lot of it is they don't want kids. I have three granddaughters. And I don't know anything about what they feel about marriage. Two of them have boyfriends.

They call it all they talk about they want their career. They want this to happen. Why do you think that is? Do you think it's because their career focused more than they are focused on them? First of all, it's kind of a tough world. They don't think it in those terms. Oh, I'm living in a tough world. But this is not open.

Like when I got married, my first time, you know, 20, 22 was being an old maid. And I had a choice of going to school and being a nurse or a teacher. Today, there's choices, there's options, there's excitement out there. We didn't have that. Do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing? Or maybe it's a little bit of both. I think that it's just the way the world is talking. It's not bad or good.

It's inevitable, yeah, in some way. That's interesting. I mean, I think most people. And granted, this is another thing that's not really on the table for me as a 30-year-old gay guy, but most people, I have siblings. They're straight. One has a kid. My older brother has a child. He's going to have more. My younger sister, she's not really sold on the idea. She's 27. She's getting married. And I think that, I mean, the biggest thing I hear from people is that it's just simply too expensive. Yeah, I didn't want to have kids. And finally, we talked about it. I says, I guess we better get started and i only wanted to have one and i ended up i had two two boys and they're very successful they're great you know um relationships are great but their lives are great they're very successful they're married with kids and there's no divorce no money no issue they're they're they're just good kids and i feel you did my job you did of course

yeah what star signs are they what's their Pisces or tourists i see's in a torres I don't really know many tourists. I don't have this. What's the stereotypical read on the torus? Tauruses are very stable. My son is, you know, he's so tourist. They don't talk a lot. You have to ask him questions.

I saw him on Thanksgiving night. He had a little bit too much to drink. And he was so much fun. I heard me. I never saw him like that. He was talking around. It was like, oh, my goodness. You know, if I write him, I wrote him a note.

And I said, thank you for everything you did. And I talked to him about my opportunity. I get two lines back. We enjoyed having you and good luck. Yeah, but that's how he is. That's, yeah. I was a kid. I needed him.

You know, I wish I will someday probably. He'll be there. And the other one, the Pisces doesn't talk to me. He hasn't talked to me in 17 years. Well, well, Pisces are, I know, I know some Pisces. They're very, they're extremely emotional and very sensitive. and very they're kind of brooding you know and um you know I love the word emotional is a is a very overused word sorry emotions is we're all emotional whether it's good or bad

and we all all about our feelings and our thoughts and how we process that's how emotions are you know they say cancer the water signs are emotional well I don't know you know I suppose he is and he just was unhappy wasn't something I did you know and but you make a lot lifelong choice out of a temporary situation. It's like suicide is a final choice from a temporary situation. Right. And that's an epidemic these days. Oh, it's huge. Yeah. Yeah. What is wrong with our world? That's the only reason I think. I think it's because there's a lack of meaning in people's lives. I think there's a real lack of meeting in people's lives. There's not really, it doesn't feel like we're living in a very stable world politically. I feel like people don't think there's

much of a hopeful future for them for economic reasons for you know social reasons people are not in touch with each other they're texting yeah your cell phones they don't get together they don't talk they um and the way they dress you know i probably shouldn't say this on the line let's just say it's somebody i know well dressed up beautifully looked really nice a big pair of tennis shoes on, ugly tennis shoes. That's a style. So I think we're in hype. Let's make this happen.

Let's do this and text and go here and do that. No time to smell the roses. And also, I tell you, my neighbor next door. I hadn't seen her. We've never been in each other's houses, but we're outside talking about something. So she said her 22-year-old, they were about three when they moved in.

And she said, we bought his own house. He's been saving for four years. and he bought his own house. And I said, I just think that's wonderful. There's somebody who had a goal and made it happen. And the other is off doing something wild. You know, so I just seemed to me that I know people had problems when I grew up. But I didn't worry about going out in the street and getting mugged.

We didn't worry about murders and grocery stores. Right. We didn't worry about, we knew that we could live within our means. You can't live within your means. live within your means today because you really can't it is a you know you better do well you know but i think if you take that away from people if you take away like economic security and just like the the promise of a future even just the sense you have emotionally that things are are on track and things are going better whether you're talking about on an individual basis or on societal

basis i don't think anyone really has that security in their life anymore and i think that can lead to all kinds of things like drug abuse to suicide to I agree. I have 100% because that is frightening to think that you can't pay your bills. You know, I have a cleaning lady and I had to front her some money because their low-rent apartment, it went up $200, which is a huge amount of money. Yeah. That can be a make or break for someone. Yeah. And, you know, fortunately, you know, I've done well, you know, and it's allowed us to have a good savings account. And, you know, and we have enough income and savings account that we can pay our bills and live well. Not going out to dinner is just a choice because it's so bad.

And we aren't traveling as much as we used to. But my husband works. He is head of his whole big marine group in the area. He's a commandant. And I work. And so we both feel like our lives are worth. We get up in the morning with a sense of purpose. Yeah.

Well, you know you're a boomer, right? Yeah. boomers live boomers during that generation the post-war economic prosperity that's the richest generation on the face of the earth in all of human history

that's the most time that there was the accrued wealth for the boomer class of Americans with the housing boom with the post-war economy I think people thought it was just going to continue to just grow and there'd be prosperity forever but you know you could buy in our little

town of Prescott area. We had a home. We rented it out because we couldn't sell it. And we were lucky to get $1,300 a month for a big three bedroom with an extra room with a big view in the back. Today, that's going to $3,000 a month. That's crazy. And that's just in Prescott. I mean, you know what, it's like everywhere else. I know. San Francisco. Oh, my God. My granddaughter's looking for an apartment and they're like $8,000 a month, a mediocre. That's criminal. It's crazy. It's really criminal to me. And that's why I think you see, that's one reason why you see so much like despair in this country. Anyways, I don't want to keep talking about depressing stuff. Let's talk about how. No, it's not my good stuff about astrology. Well, what do you, what I want to pivot slightly away. What do you think the most financially, most financially reckless gay star sign?

Let me just think about this for a moment. Sagittarius. So I have to think about that one at all. There is the truth. Yes. I have to agree with you. Yeah, of course. What do you think the most secure one is in Virgo?

No. No. Burgos, I have some funny, I have a comedy act. I'm wanting to do. And Virgos come over your house with their white glove to see if everything's dusty. And they'll go with your cap and alphabetize your spices for you. Yeah. And Sagittarians are honest to the point of craziness, and they have their foot in their mouth a lot of the times.

Well, that's been a huge theme of my life, yes, is maybe being a little too honest. But Libras, you go out to dinner with them. We probably won't even have dinner because by the time they decide what they want, the restaurant's closed. It's all of the time, of course. No, it's fun. I like, I've never really, I mean, these are kind of cruised. terms to put it in but I've never like really believed in astrology so to say but I've always found it to be um there's a utility to it in that it kind of makes you think about yourself from a different

perspective and can then for then therefore like lead to new understandings or whatever it may be and it's also just like a fun personality test game to play yeah but it does work and I have found It does work sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. And even when I predict and I do, I have a client that I, I'm on her retainer, so to speak. And I will, I don't do this for clients day to date. You know, I'll look at the planets and I'll see is this a good day to go flying.

There are things you can do. But having your chart done, understanding your personality, who you are, and what's going on? Like Aquarians, I don't want to say they're all the same. to say they're all the same, but they are, there's something about them that is just doesn't risen. I don't get along with many Aquarius. Yeah. They are, I can't take there, they're, they can't, I wish I could find the words because I have Aquarians in my life. They're hot and cold, number one. I was just about to say the aquariums, I know they're very cagey. They're hard to relate to because they, I mean, maybe. And I, yeah.

And I'm a Libra. I'm supposed to get along with Aquarius. I don't believe any of that stuff. And I think that there are certain signs that I do like. I've always liked Sagittarians. I get along with Virgoes. And I like Scorpio's. I do like Scorpio's. You know, and I also, for his Pisces, my husband's of Pisces. So I better say, he might hear me. Yeah. Yeah. And I find, Aries, they're the caregivers of Zodiac. Okay. Is that true? Oh, you have an Ares are always taken here of somebody. And they don't, they don't, every Ares I've known. I don't know that I like all Aries necessarily. I mean, I'm not going to say that. But I, they're always helping somebody out and kind of in a weird way.

Okay. And it's, you know, who's the most generous sign of the Zodiac? Just as they are, are really Pisces people. They have a natural general answer. They don't talk about it. They don't have to. They just are there. And my Sagittarian,

friends are all very giving and very generous. I, you know, my two girlfriends, I really, I really like them a lot. And I have a close, I have two Sagittarians. I have an Ares and I have a Scorpio. I like them all, you know, but the ones I most relate to are my two Sagittarians. Well, that's sweet. I think Sagittarians are usually pretty easy to get on with in my experience. Yeah, I have. Or they a Sagittarian man, I just heard they don't like the commitment. And they should, I'm not going to say they shouldn't get married and have kids. But they in generally, if I'm going to make a general statement, Sagittarian, not like to have a long-term commitment, because they may think they do. But then, you know what, relationships are very confining. You're very best.

So you know, you're always having to give up a little bit. You're always compromising. You're always like doing something for the other person and some people need that you know i've been married i was single for three years and one of the nice things is by the time i met my husband i didn't care if i ever got buried i was i really got i took care of myself and i had been taken care of i never did anything in terms of taking care of the house and the kids and all that so um i was married to a capricorn and that's another story anyway um capricorn is best january right yeah And they're very many or he's very successful. They don't like to share their feelings.

My brother's a Capricorn. Yeah. That tracks. Yeah. So for you, I mean, if you're getting into a relationship, I think Scorpio's would be really good for you. Your moon signs in Scorpio. Not good for you.

Okay. One of my, I dated a guy two and a half years ago, Scorpio. It was explosive. The fighting. We were once in the street screaming at each other over a match. It's one person. Right. And one of them was like, oh, I want to go do a palm reading. And we were all trying to go to the next bar. No one wanted to do the palm reading. But she did the palm reading with this woman. It was just, you know, sandwich board on the sidewalk.

You had to bring her apartment to go in. This girl's name is Chloe. Chloe went in, got a reading, a palm reading. The woman completely fucked it up. She told, she told Chloe that she was going to be. pregnant at 27. Chloe's 30. So this woman was just, I think, a very bad, maybe drunk psychic. But Chloe left her phone there. That night, I got locked out of my apartment. I had a book a hotel. My other friend had her car breakdown the very next day. And I, part of me, and maybe because

I didn't want to accept any responsibility for losing my keys, I was like, after we met this woman, her name was Twiggy, we all had some horrible inconvenience happened to us. And I think she stole the phone too. Okay. And she might have stolen the phone, but I don't believe in that. I think it happened. And I think that you were in there. I don't, I won't allow, you know, anytime we let that evil in our space, I have to get rid of it. And I don't believe, there is an astrologer. I shouldn't. Have you seen metaphysical maven? Is she like a young got a girl? No, well, she's got it.

She sells crystals online. Oh, no, I don't think so. And Amy, look up metaphysical Maven and Amy, Amy DeMure. You heard Amy Demure? No, are these, you don't, you don't like them. Oh, no, I didn't say that at all. I think they're interesting how they market themselves and what they do. I have all the respect in the world for people who market themselves successfully, whatever they do.

Right. Right. But do you ever feel like that comes at a cost to the, I don't want to say purity, but to the practice, the genuine practice of astrology? Do you think there's hucksters out here? Well, they think they're real. Okay, so when I was reading one on there, it talked about the cosmic this is going to happen. And because I thought, people can't read that. You're going to have a bad day. What do you have to tell them? The cosmic things are happening in your heart.

But this is crazy. You know, I talk about astrology. I don't want people ever to think that I don't use astrology. But I'm not going to get all crazy and tell somebody the cosmic things are changing. The stars are moving here. And since Jupiter is going in cancer, retrograde your heart's going to break and I thought you know I've tried to talk about this a little bit I don't want to go around slamming other astrologers well no but you can you can speak in general

terms I mean I would say I have to imagine from your perspective you've seen a new generation of astrologists that are making maybe making more reckless calls about there are making a lot of money they're doing right yeah and I won't um I I'm not going to use the bad word. I won't do that to myself because I feel I owe people. I owe myself to be honest and to be fair and to tell them what I feel because I'm very intuitive. And I just have to hear somebody's voice or whatever and or look at them and I know what's going on in their life. Right.

And they're anything. So it's like with you, I feel like you're a lot of fun. You like what you're doing. Life is not perfect. It never is. But I think you're where you want to be right now. and not maybe in the future you might have some um you you're digitally smart and you can really expand a lot of you have you have a great little topic here you know this is like the

most fun i have you have you're appealing to the um outside group but also the inside group yeah i mean i think it's it's part of you know i i have this show i have a second show and i i my second show is called interior motives it's a bit different basically it's um this the show that you're on now is just kind of a talk show um the other show is a game show um viewers people who watch a show will send me a photo of their bedroom it's me and a couple guests each week and just from looking around their bedroom we have to make guesses about whether we think they're gay or straight we have to guess where they live. We have to guess what their sexuality is. And it's fun. It's kind of in some way a little like, it's a little like astrology and that

you kind of pick up on certain cues or certain things and you put together a picture of who a person is. So that's my other show. And that's going pretty well. So yeah, there's some momentum happening in my life, I was on a podcast and a long story short. And the guy thinks he knows a lot of people is going to be successful. It's about staying healthy. you know i don't well yeah it like we've said there's too many choices just sell a few good things like is too many choices and i was just looking i work for star crossed it's an app And as I said, they pay me very well. And I went on the site today. And she has like 20 reading offerings. And I thought, why you're trying people, they, you don't have to say all that stuff. Right. Well, and then you get overwhelmed by the choice of it.
