Starting point is 00:02:05 This week's episode is brought to you by us. 45 minutes of silence. Then I fart. Perfect. And the announcement is complete. Are we, is this it? Are we making an announcement?
Starting point is 00:02:16 Yeah, this is it. This is it. There is, like Jake said, no ad this week. No sponsor. Yes. This episode, I should say, it's a Thursday. It's a bonus Thursday episode. Yeah week no sponsor yes this this episode i should say it's a thursday
Starting point is 00:02:25 when it's a bonus thursday episode yeah no sponsor for this episode no theme song for this episode this one's just from us to you for us by you with us from us to you to love there's i also don't think we should answer any questions yeah let's let's just, we'll ask each other questions. That's lovely. Yeah. So, how, I feel like the nervousness of like breaking up with somebody. Yeah, except more positive, like asking someone to marry you. But we've never done that one.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I don't know what that feels like. Yeah, it's like the nervousness where the outcome might be good. Well, I guess when you're breaking up with somebody, the outcome is ultimately positive because you'll be out of a bad relationship. Focus. Okay, sure. Focus. Guys, we've hinted at it a little before in the past few weeks, saying we had a special announcement.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Something to say. A project we've been working on that we haven't been able to talk about until right this minute. Yes. And now we can talk about said project. Now we can tell you, I think, i think so too uh we're waiting we were waiting for a press release that i believe was released hopefully if all goes well that press release is already out so now we can mention exactly with great detail what the hell we've been doing why we've been doing it and when it is and what what it is what it is so now now i'm getting nervous uh we ended our web series jake and amir essentially a year ago just about yeah on
Starting point is 00:03:56 april 7th it'll have been a year since jake and amir ended we made a jake and amir pilot which as you all know didn't get picked up by TruTV. Everyone's saying, well, guys, what the hell do you do all day? Is it just podcasting? And the answer is mostly yes, but also we made a new web series. That's right. We made a new one. We focused our energy, efforts, comedic intensity to create a new web series that's bigger than jake and amir uh better is an opinion that we have only an evolution it's an yeah it's a step forward the
Starting point is 00:04:35 next iteration uh it's different yeah it's more ambitious ambitious correct it's bolder i would say it's bolder it's bigger it's bolder. It's bigger, it's bolder. And it looks better. And it definitely looks better. And it's on Vimeo. That's right. Which is actually not a departure, but a return home. Vimeo is where we first put Jake and Amir.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yeah, in 2007, we started with Vimeo. We eventually went to College humor and youtube and when we had an idea for our own show our own new show what's now that jake and amir's over the question was what next right and where does it go uh and the first place we wanted to do it was vimeo because vimeo is starting to pay for quote unquote premium content we said you know we're premium premium i'm a premium don't look at our old videos the ones that we used to put on vimeo like that's not an example of what we're capable oh yeah here's one of you shitting in your pants we don't know this that's an example of how we got to where we are um so the web the web series uh, was, first of all, what is it called?
Starting point is 00:05:49 It's called Lonely and Horny. That's correct. Which is what we boiled down the existence of all humans to. Yeah, it was sort of using what we've learned with our podcast, becoming experts in insecurity and in what makes some humans tick. Yeah, what's at the raw nerve of all people? What's that tiny little kernel deep inside all of us? We are all lonely.
Starting point is 00:06:18 We are all lonely, and we are all horny. That's right. And so we had an idea of maybe this web series isn't about me and Jake together. We've explored that dynamic. Right. Maybe it's just about one character. Yeah. Which is the character that I play.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Correct. Amir plays the character. We named him aptly. We named him Ruby Jade. Which makes sense. Because why wouldn't you name him Ruby Jade? So this web series, it follows Chronicles, really, the struggling love life of one Ruby Jade. He is the loneliest and the horniest.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And he's really just like an extension or like a sidestep from the Amir character, which is like... Yeah, a little less... I mean, what is the character of Amir? He's just like a needy, insecure, angry loser. Yeah. And Ruby Jade has a couple of those traits, those... I wouldn't call them qualities. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Because they are lack there's of. Yeah. But Ruby is smart. That's maybe the big difference. Yeah, Ruby is smart. He has the big difference yeah ruby is smart he has his shit together for sure yeah uh and yet he still can't quite conquer uh figure out inter-human relationships dating in our 21st century yeah dating in 2016 he has the apps he takes the classes uh okay so i'm in it i'm not yeah not in it jake is in it i'm in it uh jake plays the teacher of said class this hooking up class that ruby takes jake plays
Starting point is 00:07:54 josh josh r yeah and he uh nod to y'all he's the he's sort of the voice of reason we should also mention that the trailer for this is now online yeah so if like you don't want to hear us talk about it right now you could just go watch the trailer and then come back if you're into it yeah why don't you spend two minutes going to vimeo.com slash lonely and horny yeah and if all goes well that website does work and the trailer is there yeah vimeo.com horny vimeo.comcom lonely and horny the trailer is up uh and for the next um four weeks is it because the video there's so much to say the web series isn't like jake and amir it's not sorry unlike jake and amir it's not indefinite right we only shot 10 we shot 10 episodes we wrote 10 we shot 10 but 10 episodes will be coming out in april but these are long episodes they're not they're not
Starting point is 00:08:54 yeah they're like 8 to 10 minutes each there's a roughly 90 minutes a movie's worth of content yeah we essentially made a movie so there's these these 10 long episodes of this idea that we had even before the Jake and Amir pilot. You know, when this idea was born was the Jake and Amir episode where you are on a date with Hannah Utk. Yeah. I think it's called Amir Discovers the Harsh Realities of Dating. I think it's the name of it. Right. Harsh Realities of Dating. I think is the name of it. Right. For some reason we titled it like that on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:09:27 That's sort of like the spiritual prequel. Right. To what later became Lonely and Horny. That was when we realized how funny it was to watch you interact with people on dates. Yeah. And then we started having all these ideas that we couldn't make Jake and Amir because it was a date. It was like, it was a love thing rather than a bro thing.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Yeah. And the character was a little bit different than what we could do with Jake and Amir. Yeah, it's almost like with Jake and Amir, it was guy on guy friendship love and Lonely and Horny is relationship love, or at least you looking for relationship love. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:02 So these are 10 supersized episodes that we shot on super nice cameras with super nice lenses with a team of extremely talented individuals helping us create and curate every step of the way. We have so many people to thank. These names will mean absolutely nothing to you. But our producing partners, Jillian and Alex. Yep, our DP, Bobby Lamb. Yeah, Leo. Who else was there involved?
Starting point is 00:10:35 Leo, first AD, Kristen, second AD. I mean, the... Anderson. Anderson. The key grip, the light crew, Theo. Theo, the boy. A bunch of people came together. Jake and Amir was mostly, it was me and you.
Starting point is 00:10:55 John and Giancarlo. Yeah. And then sort of a rotating team of producers, one of whom was Jillian, who produced this. This one was more of a bigger effort. And when you see the trailer, and hopefully you do see the trailer, or watch the videos, you'll see that it took us roughly 10 years to understand how to make something that looks this good and hopefully is just as funny as Jake and Amir was.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I think it's as funny. Well, the goal always was to make something that looked like a movie yeah it was still as like goofy and silly as jake and amir but with a little bit more depth and a little bit more heart this one is a little darker it's more bittersweet right the tears sometimes are real we're trying to make you feel something here yeah kind of like the last episode of Jake and Amir. It was a little darker at the end. It made people feel things.
Starting point is 00:11:50 They're like, wait, what's going on? I would hope that's like an evolution of us as writers. Right. Because we're getting slightly more mature. Anybody could write jokes. The question is, can you write a story that makes you invested enough to feel more than laughter? A compelling story uh so you guys
Starting point is 00:12:07 be the judge of that so we had this idea we uh had so many ideas for episodes uh and we ended up choosing our favorite 10 to create flesh out and shoot and jake and amir videos were written pretty haphazardly like two to three pages of jokes. Right. They're like almost like Twitter, but videos. Yeah. Which lended to very silly, crazy, spastic comedy. These were written, I guess we had more time to write these.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Because we had basically months to try to fine-tune and create not only like individual funny episodes but a story story arc that took you from the beginning of the season to the end of it right it's definitely an arc and there's also it's filled with really funny familiar faces like milana is in it yeah george basil is in it uh milana vaintrub i should say sure uh um ariana maddox ariana maddox is in there gabrus gabrus is in there billy scott fury is in there yeah a lot of familiar faces definitely a lot of people who have been on the podcast that up also in this web series that come come in contact with Ruby's life. Once again, the character is named Ruby Jade. I can't stress that enough.
Starting point is 00:13:29 We're extremely proud of the project because it's officially coming together to the point where we've seen maybe all 10 episodes at this point. Yeah. I mean, we put a lot of effort into Jake and Amir, but we had we had to churn them out yeah this is something that we like got to spend a lot of time with right like
Starting point is 00:13:51 spent multiple days editing single episodes we almost put more effort into uh lonely and horny than we did the pilot i wonder if that's why the pilot well't get picked up. Well, the pilot we had, with TV, you have to stick to rules. That's why Lonely and Horny is a little bit more exciting to me. Right. Because the episodes don't have to be a specific second length. You don't have to shave or add time. If people are worried at all about this thing not being our voice, we got literally no notes from Vimeo. We were allowed to execute our exact creative vision. which is why i never want to leave the internet
Starting point is 00:14:29 again if you don't like it it is entirely our fault i can't blame a true tv executive we but that is what happens with tv shows like things are just out of your hands like you argue for a second you're like i think we should keep it like this and then nine other people say it can't be like that you're like okay there's also rules there's like this. And then nine other people say it can't be like that. And you're like, okay. There's also rules. There's rules on TV, things that you can't do. There's stuff in this web series that there's no way we could have ever gotten away with on TV. Yeah. Very, I don't want to give plot points away, but things happened that we couldn't have done on true TV.
Starting point is 00:15:01 We're going to have to blur some stuff out just because i felt uncomfortable but yeah vimeo didn't necessarily ask us to do that correct uh so vimeo has been an amazing like producing partner and all this uh which brings us to the next big point that this web series unlike jake and amir which was you know two to three minutes every week forever, it seemed. Yeah, 800-ish of them. This is one season of 10 episodes, and it's not free. You can't just have it. Whoa, put that down, America! Oh, they're attacking us!
Starting point is 00:15:38 It's not free. This is... And why? Straight up. It's just not. You can't have it for free, because it costs a lot of money. I'll be the audience, right why? Straight up. It's just not. You can't have it for free because it costs a lot of money. I'll be the audience right now. Okay, sure.
Starting point is 00:15:48 And you be the rational Jew man that you are. Okay. Why on earth do you think I would pay for Lonely and what did you say it was? Horny. Okay. Lonely and Horny. Good question. You're paying not only for the content, for the web series that you hopefully want to consume, but you're paying to support not only us in allowing us to hopefully make more, but Vimeo in believing in this project so much that they paid us up front to create our vision uninterrupted, unfiltered, and undeterred. I'm not convinced.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Okay. Is Jake and Amir Monopoly still online for free? Every Jake and Amir video is still online for free. I can't stress that enough. And you guys can go watch them on YouTube, but there's going to be pre-rolls. Yeah. And tell you what, Lonely and Horny is a piece of premium content. That's the whole point.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Right. There's no ads in it because Vimeo paid for the whole thing. And their business model is we give money to artists, artists give us their product, and then we sell it to their audience directly. So you guys, this is how me and Amir don't actually do anything for free. You guys got content for free from College Humor and you get content for free from the podcast because we have advertising. Right. So there's a couple different ways we could have made Lonely and Horny, correct?
Starting point is 00:17:20 We could have attached it to a sponsor and it would have been like axe body spray brings you lonely and horny we should do that for season two and then we would have had to deal with axe every time we wrote a joke and they would be like well it really shouldn't be this because we can't have uh acts associated with that also can we have ruby wake up and spritz himself twice that's how he finally gets laid if he just wears axe so we obviously didn't want to do that option number two we funded ourselves we don't have any money we obviously didn't want to do that. Option number two, we funded ourselves. We don't have any money. We obviously didn't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:17:48 We don't have enough money. It cost a lot of money. Okay. It cost more money than we had. And the other option is we could have done like a Kickstarter. That's us asking you to believe in us, and then we go out and take your money and make something and give it out for free.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Yeah. But we didn't really feel that comfortable asking y'all for cash we felt more comfortable asking somebody established and who believes in artists like vimeo and plus it was so fun to go back to where we started from so how much does it cost oh wait no that's your question oh yeah well they already looked it up everybody's listening has already been to this site. They know it's how much? $15? Yeah, 15 bucks. But if you buy before, all these episodes, I think, are starting to release on April 8th.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I think the plan is to do two a week. There are 10 episodes. They are going to be starting to be released on April 8th-ish. Yeah, which is funny because it's like a year to the day after we stopped Jake and Amir. Pretty awesome. It's kind of poetic. Kind of beautiful. And then...
Starting point is 00:18:51 But that's when they cost $15. But, good news, you can get the special pre-sale discount. You can't watch them right now. But if you buy them right now, you get 15% off. That's right. and i think the coupon code is on the page but i believe it's horny yes the coupon code is horny so if you would like to buy it right away uh help us make a big splash uh you'll get 50 off that purchase price right and this is the telethon version of the show well or i guess this whole thing's been a telethon but yeah creating that initial push if you really like
Starting point is 00:19:31 stuff that we do if you're one of the people that is listening i know you guys exist who like go to me undies and go to nature box and use square space and all that stuff and you guys are killing it yeah what could be what would be the most helpful thing in the world is if you bought it right now, bought this on pre-sale. Right. Because I think Vimeo has a lot of faith in us, but let's just say they'd be very pleasantly surprised
Starting point is 00:19:57 if we sold a lot of Lonely and Horny before the actual product drops on April 8th. And this is the type of thing that we've used before because our fans are so incredibly powerful. Yeah. Like, remember when TBS didn't want our pilot, so everybody started doing the hashtag Greenlight Jake and Amir. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:19 And that was an amazing swell of momentum that saved our show when True TV saw it. So let's use that grassroots feel the burn type shit to, you know, drum up some buzz about Lonely and Horny. Not a lot of web series do presale, let alone do presale successfully. So it would definitely, if you're interested, ever wondered in a way how to support the stuff we make, this would be such a huge honor and thrill.
Starting point is 00:20:58 And if you do buy it, please do use the coupon code HORNY. And if you do buy it, let us know tweet at us uh send us a facebook message a snapchat we want to personally thank you now let's do let's do a little since this has all been a plug up until this point why don't we at least give uh i'll interview you we'll interview each other just about sort of the experience okay and horny well yeah that's great that's more stuff we haven't talked about. What was the highlight for you? The highlight for me was trying to... I've never had to be on camera as much as I have.
Starting point is 00:21:37 So I've never... I've co-starred with you, but I've never done solo acting so much. So it was fun to see what i was able to do like all right in this scene i'm alone on a couch on instagram uh all right done next go into the pool and do this thing all right next go to this restaurant and be on a date next go to this classroom and be disruptive yeah so it's like a real character study of you yeah it was like a comedy obstacle course that i was uh looking forward to every day something different yeah it really killed a lot of these performances we just watched episode 10 today so yeah and some of them were intense some of them weren't even comedic no there was like
Starting point is 00:22:20 some real fucking acting in some of these what What was your favorite part of the process? I guess. That was pretty good. Another thing. You're right. We had lunch one day. I liked tender greens. I think, I mean, I was behind the camera most of the time.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Well, we haven't talked about the fact that Jake directed this entire thing. Yeah, this is my directing debut. Right. We've done like... Aside from like directing Jake and Amir's, which we sort of did for all of them. Which was more of a team effort. Yeah. And that was also sort of like, hold the camera here, get a little tighter on my face.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Yeah. Now just press record three times. Yeah. I mean, not to undersell it, but... A lot of it was just shot, reverse shot, shot, reverse shot. Yeah, and there was always some interesting stuff. And John and Giancarlo were incredibly talented shooters. But I definitely had never taken on such a major thing. I had no idea that this was going to entail so much
Starting point is 00:23:28 like i realized on day one i was like oh i can't go on my phone i i remember acting even when we're in the pilot like when you're done when they say cut unless someone's talking like talking to you i was i could just be on my phone that's your downtime yeah yeah uh and like we i'd yell cut and nine different people had to ask me a question like the props person is like is this okay there is okay there then the script supervisor is like uh she raised her hand in this one and she didn't in that one do you want it to match and i'm right and then like the first ad is in my ear saying like we have to move on we didn't like we need to move on but we didn't get oh shit just nine different things happening so being like so present and having to like conduct this orchestra which i wouldn't have been able to do if it weren't for
Starting point is 00:24:15 bobby the dp who knew everything about lenses when i did not know anything yeah it was sort of like you guys were the one to punch yeah because i had like, we just spoke the same language at some points, because I could just say, I want it to feel like this. And Bobby would be like, okay, so you want it on the 35? And then I'd be like, show it to me. And he had this app on his phone where he could show me what a 35 would look like. And I was like, perfect. But it was actually pretty convenient, because a lot of it was you caring about stuff that
Starting point is 00:24:44 I usually don't care about. Right. And like a lot of it was that now you can view my performance through the lens and you can be like, oh, do this. Oh, do that. Oh, say it this way. Right. Whereas like if we're acting in it, it's kind of hard to like take a step back and be like, how should I have done it differently? Yeah, there's a lot of just, mean we improvise so much and like i also since we
Starting point is 00:25:07 perform together so often and like we're almost the same person the difference between a like um uh what's i'm trying to think of an example of something you say in in this series give me a line that ruby says Just in general? Yeah. You say, why do you think things have to be fair to you? And I yell, because I'm the only one that I am, dude. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Like, it's, because I'm the only one, I just know your exact intonation. When we write that line, I know exactly how you'll say it. And when we're shooting it, if you say it differently, and I'm like, that's not how I pictured it.
Starting point is 00:25:46 And I don't know if that's directing or just being a real nitpicky asshole. I guess there's a fine line between the two. There really is. And I remember stopping and like, I would tell you to say something some way and then we would do it and you wouldn't. And I would be like, wait, let's pause it
Starting point is 00:25:59 and you're saying it like this. You're like, how did I just say it? Yeah, I don't know what I, he's like, say it differently. I don't remember how I said it. I just say it and i become that human and then i come out i'm like what happened yeah it's like waking up and be like did i snore i don't remember yeah there i remember the maybe i don't even know if this is a low light it's just a funny story from the set is uh when we're in the classroom when we were shooting there was a senior shooting with Jake Nordwind, who's in it. He plays this guy, Yvonne.
Starting point is 00:26:27 He's so funny. And there's this shot. And so much is happening in the shot. It was like a tracking shot where there's somebody walking with a bounce board. And every time, if he fucks up even a little bit, it casts a shadow on your face. And then there's the boom, just trying to not dip into frame yeah and just so much is happening a fragile situation like even a bump we have to restart and it because it's all one take yeah and you started laughing every time both just started fucking dying could not could not stop laughing it was
Starting point is 00:27:03 i was i basically have to deliver the speech to jake and i couldn't get through like one of the 15 sentences right because you i mean and and everyone is like pushing in everyone's like trying super hard uh just to like keep it together and then like you would break and also we were just about over time at this place and we did not have the money or the resources to go over so it was like coming down to like we are not going to get this shot right and i was like i thought it was the funniest thing in the world and i was just like dying behind the monitor yeah but then i had to go out and talk to you and be like super serious and stern because i was like and it was the worst i felt because you two are having so much fun i was like it's not funny it's really not funny we have to get this
Starting point is 00:27:49 we should release some of that because i i assembled that scene together and like throughout the entire like process you hear people like do you think that and i'm like at one point i'm like trying to get over it i'm like i stare at jake uh nordman i'm like do you think it's funny because i don't think it's funny anymore like trying to like get myself psyched up just like get people out and somebody at one point you were kind of doing a good job like you were getting through it and they were cleaning um behind the walls because we like had to get the fuck out of there yeah and someone dropped something and i remember bobby was like are you fucking kidding me knock it off just like he told me afterwards that he didn't care at all.
Starting point is 00:28:27 He's just like, but this is everybody just sort of trying to be a loud asshole to like shake the laughs out of everybody. Yeah. There were so many parts, so many takes that we couldn't keep it together, which probably is a great sign. And there's so many people in it that were so funny. And we got to just like experiment with them for a day yeah uh and as excited as we are about season one like i'm already thinking ahead to like oh season two we
Starting point is 00:28:51 got to do this we got to do this we got to do this that's what makes me feel like super positive about this because that's how jake and amir started right like we made a dozen episodes and then we just kept on emailing each other and by the end like we still had like hundreds of ideas in the jake and amir idea thread right and like i can see already that happening with ruby jade because like we'll still text each other now and be like lonely and hoarding season two idea so fucking i really hope we get to make this like we go bowling we're like there's an idea right there right we'll be on a bowling date and uh yeah i mean yeah you guys should watch it i really think you'd like it is the main thing here we really And we're like, there's an idea right there. We'll be on a bowling date. And yeah, I mean, yeah, blah, blah, blah. You guys should watch it.
Starting point is 00:29:26 I really think you'd like it. It's the main thing here. We really, really, really, one, we're really, really excited about it. We made something that I think we know we love it. And we really, really think you will too. Yeah, because this is something that we made completely on our own without like network executives who don't know anything. I mean, how many Jake and Amir videos do you think some TV network executives will have seen if we made something over there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Like we got to just go from this from the last web series, which was a magical thing that had no oversight at all. Yeah. To another web series has no oversight at all yeah to another web series has no oversight at all but yeah it was basically a comedy dream job it's like write your funniest 10 episodes of something uh and you get to make it here's a check to make it yeah uh and we really really want to make more uh and we really think you would like these uh at the very least go check out the trailer uh to give you a taste of the scope of the project you can see how much better it looks than anything we've ever done and if you like the trailer just just buy it for 50 off because you'll prop we're gonna do this again yeah we're gonna wear you down and you'll end up buying it
Starting point is 00:30:39 for 15 that's right buy it now for 12 or whatever it is yeah 15 off 15 uh uh what was i gonna say the the the the right we didn't want it uh the pricing we didn't want it to be so expensive like we needed it to cost less than a jake and amir t-shirt or a jake and amir live show right uh 15 is a lot to some people uh which is why we were able to hopefully make it a little more affordable with the 15% presale coupon. And we didn't want it to be so prohibitively expensive that you're like, you have to think twice. And I think you might be able to buy individual episodes
Starting point is 00:31:23 to taste it later on. Yeah. Okay, don't do that. But the best deal will be buying them in bulk, and the best deal will be buying them before it comes out on April 8th. Also, if you're one of our day ones, this is day zero of Lonely and Horny. Yeah, get it while it's very, very, very hot. Not only will you get to watch the web series but it's such a huge token of support that's why i'm saying if you do buy it let us
Starting point is 00:31:50 know so we can personally thank you yeah i feel like we could almost track who buys it and just write the first hundred people who do a personal thank you yeah if that's possible we will do that yeah uh and another way to help it is this is the day that we're going to one release this podcast to twitter it'll be on facebook and uh most importantly maybe reddit uh so if you're part of our subreddit uh if you can upvote the link to that if we can get this on the front page and we can get it in front of people who are not just Jake and Amir fans. That's like a really, really, really huge deal, not only for us, but for Vimeo. This one's got crossover appeal, maybe.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Yeah, we sure hope so. At the very least, the trailer is interesting and fun to look at. Yeah. We said we were going to talk for 10 to 15 minutes an hour, over half an hour. Is there anything we haven't mentioned? Have we adequately expressed how excited we are about this? I think we have.
Starting point is 00:32:50 It's tough to just constantly gush over a thing that we made, and we promise not to do it too much, so we'll mention it here and there just because we want people to see it and we're proud of it. Even NPR does that two-week telethon thing. Yeah. We make most of everything for free we're not asking for donations for nothing we have we made this thing and vimeo
Starting point is 00:33:11 helped us make it make it and vimeo needs to sell it uh and that's just how i guess business works that's how the world works uh but the best deal once, is to buy all the episodes before April 8th because you'll be able to get all 10 episodes for, God, what is 15% off? $15. $225 off. $15 is $12.75-ish. And we're saying all these monies, prices in, we're saying all these prices in... U.S. dollars. Yeah, but it's available everywhere.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Yeah. It's available in Australia. It's available in England. We wanted something that everybody of every age, of every gender would be able to watch anywhere in the world. And Vimeo allows you to do that. Yeah, I mean mean if you miss watching us on video it just that just hasn't it's very rare now um yeah 1275 well nailed it dude um that's it i don't know if you have any questions i think we're on an airplane to austin right now
Starting point is 00:34:20 uh depending on when you listen to this yeah there's a chance you're listening to this after April 8th, which case you should still enjoy the web series despite not having the coupon. There's a chance you're listening to it in a dystopian future where Jake and I are no longer alive. But Lonely and Horny is just playing on a screen in Times Square. Watch it there to support the new regime. But if you are listening to this,
Starting point is 00:34:46 I think 50 to 80% of our listeners come within the first week, basically. So odds are you're listening to this before Lonely and Horny comes out. But do check it out. Oh, shit, here's a huge thing we forgot to mention. The soundtrack. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:03 That is really big. We'll be back next Thursday. We needed songs, music that fit so well. And so our first plan was to send composers and musicians a bunch of songs from one of our favorite bands and be like, how close can you get to this? Right. can you get to this right so i when we were like what's this like what is this web series signature sound because we really wanted to have like give it a style yeah and we sent over a lucius track lucius is the band lucius is the band l-u-c-i-u-s yeah um people i bet people have heard of them they're great and then we realized that you sort of know that band.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Yeah, I know Jess, who's in the band. And we were like, maybe we could ask her to just do it. What are the odds that we can actually use the music that we hope we can get someone close to imitate? Yeah. And we were like, this would be so fucking huge if we could just get this one song can we use this song and then as we started talking to them we realized we could just use their entire album they were so down to lend us any song uh off their old album wilder woman and a song off their new album do youer Woman, and a song off their new album. Do you know what their
Starting point is 00:36:26 new album is called? It's called... I'll look it up while you keep talking, because it's worth mentioning. Yeah. But anyway, I mean, it feels like this album was written for the web series. It's such a perfect, perfect fit.
Starting point is 00:36:42 And every single song, like, that we put, and we're like oh my god that's that's perfect like what are we gonna do oh it's new album is called good grief yeah good grief they're and not only that if you're talking about like fate their new album comes out today no shit uh or like this week maybe tomorrow so they're on uh they're on tour right now they're on like uh late show with steven colbert they're like damn they're on tour right now. They're on Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They're big time. So the fact that they let us use all their songs off their last album
Starting point is 00:37:13 and Heartbeat Teen off their new album was huge for us. I want to say that. Find their music and just listen to that, too. Good Grief comes out March 11th, 2016, which is the, yeah, the day, tomorrow, basically, if you're listening to this on Thursday. And Wilder Woman is the album that we got all these songs from. And our web series wouldn't be the same.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Two of the songs in the uh born again teen is what it's called not heartbeat teen uh two of the songs in the trailer every song you listen to will be a lucius song but two of the songs in the trailer are uh lucius songs so it gives you an example of uh what they sound like correct uh so not only could we not have done it with all the people that are helping us put it together and produce it with us? But we could have done it without Lucius graciously allowing us to use their music exclusively on Lonely and Horny, exclusively on Vimeo, exclusively from me and Jake. Yeah, very exclusive. Join the exclusive club by buying our new web series. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:27 All right. You guys get it. You guys get get the drift 40 minutes of us talking about it it's true if you still have questions i'm sure we'll be around to talk about it uh on any form of social media uh we're gonna try to let as many people know as possible if you guys can help that would be huge the reddit thing i think is the big one yeah reddit's big we're gonna post this on reddit if you're a part of our subreddit circle jerking divas out there we know there's 11 000 of you if we can just get all 11 000 of you to upvote it uh that'll go a long long way um oh oh oh yeah, all right. Got some feedback. Sorry about that, buddy. I thought we were wrapping up.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Yeah, I don't know. Is there anything else we haven't said yet? Probably. Probably a lot. But you know everything you need to know for now. Yeah, that it's the website, vimeo.com, slash lonelyandhorny, coupon code HORNY, gets you 15% off.
Starting point is 00:39:25 We're very proud. We basically spent a year making it in some various forms between writing, pre-production, production, post-production. Meetings. Yeah. And Vimeo was the first place we went to and the first place that said, yes, here you go. Support them supporting us.
Starting point is 00:39:42 That's the real shit. Thank you to Vimeo for making this happen for letting us go back home alright go enjoy the trailer go enjoy the rest of your lives really and go buy it and send us the receipt and we will personally
Starting point is 00:39:57 buy you dinner steak dinner we're losing money on the whole deal honestly thank you guys for just listening to this A steak dinner. We're losing money on the whole deal. Honestly, thank you guys for just listening to this. Not a lot of comedians have an audience like you guys. Yeah. And the reason we've been able to do all this stuff, like the TV show and like this web series,
Starting point is 00:40:24 is because we can point to the army of fans that we have that are super dedicated that we can be like, you know, it's not just us. We also got like these people with us. Yeah. So we hope we don't, do we call them anything? Like the Jake and Amir squad? No. The day ones? Oh, we do call them the Jake and Amir squad.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Really? Yeah. Nice. I like that a lot. But only to ourselves and never out loud. But we hope we did you proud with this. We like it and we hope we did you proud with this. We like it and we hope you will too.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Yeah. All right. A real If I Were You. None of this bullshit anymore. A real episode of If I Were You back on Monday. We're probably still going to be talking about this from time to time. Oh, yeah, for sure. And we are in Austin.
Starting point is 00:41:05 If you're listening on Thursday or Friday, we're in Austin today. Tonight with Ben. Yeah. Schwartzy. Tickets are still available for that show somehow. So go to ifirewshow.com if you're in Austin or near Austin and you want to come to the show.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Let's talk about it. Maybe we'll show the trailer at one of these shows. Maybe we can even show a fucking episode. Episodes are starting to come together. It's going to be really exciting. We can't wait for you guys to see it.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Thanks for listening. Let's go straight to Rose with the outro, no theme song. Really? Yeah. Peace. On that trowel.
Starting point is 00:41:33 That was a HeadGum Podcast.
