published, selling over 5 million books.
And today, through Mark Victor Hansen Library,
Mark is sharing his storytelling success with authors from around the world. And with you today
on Sense of Soul. Thank you so very much for coming on Sense of Soul. It's such an honor to
have you. And I'm excited to do this interview because I've obviously been in the soul business
since 1993. So that's a few days. And I must tell you that I did not do a lot
of reading when I was younger and I was never really good at it because I have ADHD. The very
first book I ever read was Chicken Soup of the Soul. So thank you. Here's the number. We got
five kids and six grandkids, but 25% of the people are ADD, including me.
I'm a poster child.
And all the books that we're doing in markvictorandsonlibrary.com are poster child.
I mean, the guy who said, Tommy Mello, you're never going to graduate school.
You'll never have a business.
You won't even be able to keep a job.
And last year, he made $650 million, hires thousands and thousands of people, owns A1
garage door, and he's in 35 states. Last year, he made $650 million, hires thousands and thousands of people, owns A1 Garage Door,
and he's in 35 states.
And because he's so ADD, he can do stuff real fast.
But he looked at garage doors when he fixed them.
He said, this is dumb.
These garage door springs break every five years.
So he invented a new garage door that lasts 20 years.
Wow.
You know what?
I need his number because my garage door is currently broken.
It's all over the country. He'll be in all 50 states. What state do you live in?
I live in Colorado. Oh, beautiful. I was a professor there for a couple of years.
Yeah. Where are you at now? I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona, which is heaven.
Nice. Yes, it is. But tell me, Mark, who were you as a child? I mean, were you always
in the mind frame of success and abundance? I love the question and the answers. I have two
of the greatest parents ever. I didn't recognize them when I was little, but dad owned his own
little Danish bakery, came from Denmark, went through all the trials and tribulation of World
War II and the depression with mom and my older brothers. And so there's sort of an entrepreneurial
spirit, but mom was a phenomenal recontour storyteller par excellence. I mean, we'd go on
a little vacation. We never had any money, but you'd go on a little vacation and she'd come back
and you'd listen to her on the phone when the phone was connected to the wall. We didn't have
cell phones in the prehistoric days when I grew up with dinosaurs roaming the earth. And she had a better vacation than I
perceived to go on. When I was a little kid, I said, wow, I don't know where she went. But
someday when I grow up, I want to have that talent. And obviously, some part of it's genetic,
but a lot of it is I grew up wanting it. My dad wanted any of my four brothers and I to take over the bakery because that's a Danish
immigrant error, H-E-I-R thing. And I said, no, dad, I'm a white glove guy. I'm not sure what
one is, but I'm going to learn something. I'm an addicted reader. And just because my high school
teacher got me to say, no, reading is the front end of leading. And I've obviously been a leader
in all the companies I own in business and politics, and we're very heavy into philanthropy.
I was just looking at my dad's ancestry just like over the weekend, and his family were always business owners.
They were like third generation from Czechoslovakia.
And of course, they had their Vavra hardware store. And one of the things that I realized recently was, for some reason, I didn't fit myself
in as a woman into being an entrepreneur, even though this was something that you could
see in his family generation after generation.
And then I was like, wait a minute, why have I kept myself small in thinking that just
because I'm a
woman, I can't, I don't have that in my DNA. I absolutely do. Well, first of all, let me go to
the macro of what you just said. We become our identity. At some levels, we choose our identity
and then our identity chooses us. And I chose an identity that I wanted to speak. Well, in our
Ask book, The Bridge From Your Dreams, Jessie, that my wife, Crystal, and I wrote an identity that I wanted to speak. Well, in our ask book,
The Bridge From Your Dreams, Jesse,
that my wife, Crystal, and I wrote that is a mega bestseller
because everyone needs to learn to ask yourself,
others, and God,
but I'm bankrupt, I'm upside down.
I'm alone, scared, ready to kill myself
because I thought, man, I lost $2 million in one day,
so I must be a schmuck.
I must be a real idiot.
I must be, there's no reason for me to be allowed
because my identity was my self-worth
and money worth were the same.
They are not, anyone can lose their money.
That is temporary.
I've been broken.
I've been rich.
The joke is I like rich better.
Anyhow, I pray to God and I say, okay, God, tell me what am I supposed to do?
God doesn't do it that way.
God says, what do you want to do?
I want to speak to people that care
about things that matter, that would make a life transformative difference. And I went,
are you kidding? I go down to my three roommates. Now I'm not doing well. I'm
living on a hundred dollar a month rent, sleeping in a sleeping bag in front of another guy's room
in Hicksville, Long Island, New York. So you can see I'm not styling and profiling yet.
I go, boys, three guys at breakfast. Any of you know somebody that's young so I can relate to him
or her that's not an MD, not a doctor, not a lawyer, not a celebrity, not a Broadway star?
And the guy says, here's my ticket. There's a guy probably 10 years older than you, Chip Collins,
and he'll wow your soul. He's out in Hawpaw new york well i got my 400 pitted window currently air-conditioned Volkswagen the wipers didn't even work i had
to wipe the snow off of my big hand and i'm shifting and i get out there and chips now
remember 1974 the reason i went bankrupt is because the joke was arabs can write so big
your banks will bounce and i checked a book out of the library, How to Go Bankrupt by Yourself.
So things were really sour for me.
Chip's got 500 people that are really in the doldrums
because interest rate, it's high now,
but then it went to 18%.
So it crippled the real estate business, crippled it.
Anyhow, these people are angry, they're down,
they're sour, they're upset, they're PO'd.
I think I can use that word on your show.
And Chip, in three hours, wound them tight, excited them.
They're beating on their chest, they're feeling like Tarzan or Tarzan.
He changed their mindset, which changes your money set.
But at a higher level, what we're talking about in your show, is he really changed their soul set.
Because the divine in each of us has infinite potential. If you're made in the image and likeness of God, you got
three things. You got, he created everything and you're made in his image and you're here to create.
You're here to contribute. And that doesn't stop because you got a million dollars or you're 65
or 72 or 85. I mean, we just did a book with an 89-year-old
and her church is just explosive called Heal Sarah O'Mara.
So you're here to create, you're here to contribute.
And then number three C of that first line, Genesis 128,
you're here to be charitable.
And you and I are here to have abundance.
So you've got excess, so you take care of yourself,
your family, your city, your state, the country.
And my goal personally is I want to have abundance so you got excess so you take care of yourself, your family, your city, your state, the country. And my goal personally is I want to have 100% of humanity be physically, economically, and
spiritually, soulfully successful.
Because the soul runs the mind, which runs the body, which runs your results.
Now, I don't know anyone else teaching that except me, and maybe you and the show, and
maybe some of the people you've had on. But that's why i love being on your soul show oh my gosh this is i love
that i mean i agree with you at the beginning of my journey one of the questions i grew up catholic
so i was very very conditioned and i put myself in this tight little box. And I asked myself this question one day,
and I often talk about it,
but it's how much of what I believe in
have I chose to believe in
or how much of that have I actually been told to believe?
How much have I experienced to be my truth?
And I really, the only thing I could say at that point
was the love for my children, because I have four children. And that was the only thing I could say at that point was the love for my children, because
I have four children.
And that was the only thing I could say that was true for me.
Everything else I was living, doing, believing was based off of other people's belief systems.
And so at that moment, I started to live by my own experience.
Excellent.
And by the way, that's why your show, The Sense of Soul, because soul is a sense. Soul
is a feeling. Soul, my friend Bob Proctor and I own two companies together, is a vibratory rate.
And a vibratory rate is only evocative, at least in my experience, when you close your outer eyes,
you open your inner eyes, you go inside that sacred place of the Most High, and you get in
tune with the Infinite. Now, most and you get in tune with the infinite.
Now, most people are out of tune with the infinite.
They don't even know there's an infinite to get in tune with.
But the infinite is obviously infinite.
God created everything.
This universe that's 15 billion years old, he is the causeless cause of the numero uno,
the a priori intelligence, intelligence before reason.
And you and I are made in a subset.
Like, he's the mainframe computer today that doesn't work perfectly with ai but he is the ai of all ais he has got the
the when i studied in india at the noah draw center the theosophical center they talk about
the akashic records has all wins and but in the christ Christian model, God knows every hair on your head,
which, by the way, he's discounted online. Anyhow, the point is, obviously, God knows that,
and there's infinite wisdom in the universe, but you've got to decide, back to what I was saying,
it's like you've got your remote control, you can change your channel. Most of us got to change the
channel to say, hey, wait, I'm going to go to a higher ascended vibration. And the way you do it is obviously with all the
stuff that you teach in the show to millions of people, but you're changing your vibration by
doing whatever your deep breathing is, nine in, nine out, whatever the deal is that you're doing.
That's what we, my wife and I pray and meditate together for an hour every day. And that's why
I said, you're going to love her when she comes on your show.
But the point is, it's so exquisitely exciting because there's no limit once you wake up to God in you.
Because that's what Christ said.
Where is God?
God is inside you.
It's not in the ocean.
It's not in the sky.
It's not an old man hanging out in heaven.
God is sensed.
And that's what Jack and I said.
Our stories were sold
because they cause,
with these seven vibrations,
but I'll just do the first two,
they cause instantaneous behavioral change.
That's why you read it as a teenager.
Number two, they had goosebumps,
God bumps, chili bumps.
Now for us,
there's some people listening going to go,
what kind of crap is Mark selling here?
But when we got God bumps,
goosebumps, chili bumps,
for us,
it was a corroboration of truth. And we only did verifiable stories, right? We didn't,
the big word to get us out of trouble is we don't take your apocryphal story, meaning it's,
we can't take your fake story. And that's why Chicken Soup has worked 101. And then the other
reason it worked is we did three
pages at a time so people could get in and out while they're either in the bathroom or before
they go to sleep and the book falls in their face i i think that book was in my bathroom for
years and years too because i wanted everyone to read thank you it is through story it's through
story it's i mean even the bible right even through the greatest books and ancient texts these allegorical stories or zen stories or just personal accounts of
someone being vulnerable that connects humanity you're 100 correct i'm going to do a joke first
when we were selling 20 000 books a week, because remember, I'm a lifetime marketing
sales guy.
So since I was nine, I had to buy all my own clothes and everything because my parents
didn't have any money.
I'm not putting down on mom and dad.
They loved us unconditionally, but they didn't have any money.
So I said, good, I don't like this.
I'm going to go out and sell greeting cards to more than anybody.
So I figured out how to market more books than anybody.
Marketing all these books, we couldn't get to be number one on new york times so jack dr
canfield third in his class at harvard is a genius inside guy now i'm the outside guy more or less
although i write the original stories is it i said jack this lady went to harvard with you at
that runs the new york times book division you call her she's one call her. Harvard only has 500 per class. I was at a school
where I was student body president with 64,000, so it's a little different. Anyhow, a public school,
Southern Illinois University. I said, Jack, we'll call her. Well, I get her on the phone,
and she's pompous. She's arrogant. She's totally hard. I lived in New York, so they say,
if you can do business in New York, Frank Sinatra saying,
if you can do business here, you can do business anywhere, because they say they eat their young,
right? I get this lady on the phone, and she is arrogant and says, we at the New York Times, do not take multi-authored books.
I said, you're sure?
She said, I am positive.
I said, well, you got the Bible.
It's got 66 authors.
Now, if we had maps at 720, she said, you're in next week, son.
Good point.
Absolutely.
Because the deal is what soul allows you to do is go where nobody else goes because with God, all things are possible.
That's at a soul level, not in a mind level, because a mind level, there's two levels here.
There's a mind, which is where you can think and go to soul.
There's brain, which is the inventory that school constipates us with.
Now, you've got to have that so you can go to mind, so you can go to soul.
At least that's how I see it.
And if you see any difference or see any fault in my logic, I want to hear it.
But I've spent my life studying this, thinking about it, and loving to articulate it because
that's why so many people come to our seminars because they go, you are really different,
but I like you.
Little kids come and say, I've never wanted to listen to a speaker all day or three days
like you teach, but I welcome to you.
So thank you very much. never wanted to listen to a speaker all day or three days like you teach, but I'll come to you.
Thank you very much. And I never thought I'd have three or four generations of people listening to me, but I certainly do. And I'm honored. Anyhow, the point is, at a soul, what was impossible is
possible. And I'm telling you that the richest man off and on lately is Elon Musk. And I can
name all eight of his companies because I'm a scholar in Elon, and do a lot of videos on YouTube, so you can watch them.
But the point is, he is living at a soul level.
And he goes, no, the government can't shut me down.
I'm going to make Tesla's reactors with 3M company because I got the printing machines
called architecture.
I got the people.
I got the metal.
I can do all this.
And he never lets anything get away. Because if you, and by the way, that's what, back to the first big story in the Bible,
Joseph of many color coat, he didn't let it get in the way that he was in a pit.
Didn't get in his way that he was sold into slavery.
Didn't get it in his way that the woman lied about him.
But he said, what you meant for my harm, God meant for my good.
Meaning your soul is indefatigable. Your soul was, is, and always will
be. That's what the Akashic records are. Your soul is eternal. And so the soul of Mark and the soul
of Chan is eternal. It's not a one, well, I got this incarnation and this is my body. And you were, you are, and you will be.
And your job is back to getting in tune with the infinite so you understand your infinite
potential.
Because nobody can sell as many books as I have.
You can't.
I've sold a half billion plus, way plus, but we're going to sell a billion.
And by the way, I know I'm over waxing here, but it's important because of what you're going to do with your book and help a
lot of people. Thank you. You're going to serve people.
They'll never see this podcast or never hear you probably in places you can't
even name because you're in the middle of Africa or the middle of India or
whatever. And it's so cool because they'll write you letters.
I get stacks of letters and we answer them as best we can. And it just, it's wonderful.
But the point is a book is the seminal value that changes people's lives and impacts them
in an extraordinary way.
Absolutely.
It's when you think about like you were just saying, even just the Bible, I mean, it is
a book. It's actually writing
down your story to share with others. And it's for you. And like you said, it's for them. It's
for your community. It's for the world. And it can ripple out and change the world.
Yeah. And the Bible, by the way, here's the second thing about the Bible that you need.
There's a book, meaning, and I did Chicken Soup and Soul Bible. We sold 70,000 a week at Walmart.
So I really understand this book. But we did a little, I did, and the publisher said, no,
you'll never sell that, Mark. So I said, good, sign this little piece of paper, Mr. Begzo,
because I'm going to take it to a publisher that wants it, that understands what I can do. And I made it with a purple cover, and it is wonderful. You can get it on thrift
books now for cheap. But it sold 70,000 a week at Walmart just the first week, because nobody had
ever had a non-threatening Bible. And the point is, there's the book, then there's the words,
then there's the meaning of the words but the most important fifth point
is the understanding of the words so you look down on it the big term strange and highlight you grok
it you got it and you understand how does that affect my life my future and my world like that
great line i just did from joseph in any color quote what you meant for my harm god meant for
my good and his brothers had to bow down to him, which is, you got to say, pretty cool.
The guys wanted to kill him.
The Suleiman, the slavery did awful, terrible, tragic things to him.
And ended up in second in command in the world, which is what he sort of thought.
He had the vision from the get-go.
And it's only in spirit, only in your ascended sense of soul that you can do that.
That's why coming out of the Catholic, it's Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, right?
It's the whole ghost.
It's the whole spirit.
And that's why when you see somebody that's alive, and the thing my wife and I just got
an International Impact Book Award on Saturday night at Black Tide.
Anyhow, the point is, people kept coming up and saying, I can feel your presence.
And that's what God in you is.
God is the presence and power of God in you.
And by the way, those of you that don't like the term God,
whatever you want, infinite intelligence, infinite wisdom,
infinite love, the source energy, Esther and Jerry,
whatever makes you comfortable, right?
But you you got to
understand that the reason and the atheists go crazy with me i did get canceled as seminar because
of this but god is exponential and you're made to be exponential and what you do is made to be
exponential when you're at a soul level that's the point and the trouble of atheism is nothing
can't make something.
Zero times zero equals zero.
You've got to have something.
And you say, well, who made God?
No, God made God.
God is a universal first mover, shaker, prime driver, to use Star Trek language.
I hope you don't love all these interfaces.
I just, I love all this little stuff. I love it too.
And actually, it reminds me, my dad used to talk like this all the time.
That's why you're so smart.
You had smart parents.
I do.
I do have great parents.
What's interesting is I fell in love with the Gnostic Gospels, I think, because they were unfamiliar to me and they were
almost like Zen stories where I could read this or any story, even in Chicken Soup of the Soul,
you could read a story, but what it means to me right now in this moment, that's the magic.
Because if I went and reread that very first chicken soup of the soul I might receive
those stories in a totally different way there's this magic in between the words and that's why
Jack and I did it because he and I met at a meeting the mandala meeting we were talking to
6,000 people and I'm the last speaker he was the first and I didn't get to see his talk that day
because I was still driving to San Diego from Newport Beach, where I lived at the time in Corona Del Mar.
Anyhow, he says, can I take you to dinner after you sign all these books?
And we just had a Vulcan mind meld because this is the divinity of moments.
They just exist, but they exist for everybody.
But most of us aren't aware of them.
And we discount ourselves because we're on the wrong channel.
I got to hurry to work.
I got to not be here. I can't go listen to this show with these two people because I got to go do X,
whatever it is. I got to go walk the dog, whatever. It doesn't matter. And the point
is that you're here. The more you're tuned into your higher self, your ascended self, your
bigger sense of soul, the more you pull off the magic in your life.
All of us are dealing with infinite time.
At a spiritual level, my teacher was Einstein's teacher.
And when my graduate work, Dr. Fuller was Dr. Albert Einstein's best student.
But Albert would say, in soul level, there is no time and space.
In universe, there is no time and space. In universe, there is no time and space.
And man, I couldn't grok that.
When I'm 21 to 20, I'm going, what in the heck is he talking about?
But when you go into soul level, time vaporizes.
Like my wife and I, yesterday we were talking, said, holy cow, last week vaporized.
I mean, we did some phenomenal things.
We had three major events, and we're doing some great, glorious books.
And we did four or five podcasts like this that we love doing. Don't misunderstand. You go,
whoa, the week is gone. And we felt really good about it. And we still exercised and had fun.
And yesterday, we were with all our kids and grandkids, and it was great.
Yeah, I remember being on that fast track track and I remember I had a cousin who told
me, dude, you're just, you're going so fast. I mean, be careful. You don't just like slam into
the wall eventually, which I did, which I totally did. But when you're living a present life,
it's different. You can multitask. I can be with you, completely be present with you. Like you said, that someone had sensed that from you, that presence.
And then I can shift afterwards and be present with the next part of my day.
And it does make time kind of funky because I'm not in time with you right now.
I'm present with you, which makes it totally different. Well, okay. So two books got us out of the depression in America in 1898, and two got us
out of the depression of 29 to 39. But in 1898, the two books that got us out were one is Horatio
Alger, and I own the Horatio Alger Award. I don't know if you can see it. I guess you can't see it sideways very well.
I don't want to get up and go get it for you.
But you get it in Supreme Court.
It means I've come from rags to riches, been excessively philanthropic, like 500 living members of it.
Anyhow, but the book, other book that was written, it was The Science of Getting Rich.
And what Wallace Waddle says is all reality is plastic.
You transmute it into whatever you want.
So if you say, I'm not going to have enough time, guess what?
Not enough time shows up.
If you say what you just said, I'm present time available.
I've got plenty of time to do this great interview with Mark.
It's going to be the best I've ever done up until now, until the next person is better and wiser and I'm wiser.
And then I'm going to be present time available with my four kids and house
and all the, all of us have stuff to do.
And what you see in Elon Musk, if you don't mind my quoting him again,
he says, look,
I do life in five minute increments because I'm present time available for
five minutes. Well, he's present time available,
running the biggest companies and he's got 10 kids and he's present.
And the pictures show that he's present.
By the way, I'm very keen on big families, right?
Because we need more population.
We need more net.
We need more population that's well-educated and soul alive.
Soul alive.
Because most people, oh, no, man.
I'm going to grow up, go to school, get a degree, go
work as a whatever, a CPA, an engineer, doctor, crush beer cans on my hand, throw them at
the TV because I don't like what I'm watching.
I shut the dang thing off.
Watch a show like this.
Wake up to the eternal greatness, the goodness of God in you that wants to give you everything.
It's your father's good pleasure, the Bible says, to give you the kingdom.
That's why I was glad to see you come through
because I've said a few times,
I need to make space and time to finish my book.
Yeah, I'm holding up the mirror.
You've got all the time you want.
It's going to get through you.
I can't believe I said that.
I need to say I have enough time today to finish my book.
Finish a chapter, finish three pages or one page. Let me just talk to even one page.
So I told you, Bob Proctor and I own two companies together, and I love Bob. He just
transitioned out of life at 87. He wrote the Ford to Robert Knight's book right that night before he
died. And I did his eulogy, of course, because I loved him and still do and still watch his stuff. And everybody should watch his stuff. Bob and I are doing a
giant seminar with thousands of people. And this lady comes up, we're standing together because
we're best friends and we talked together and loved it. And we'd stand and handle the audience
together. And the lady says, well, if I were rich like you, Bob, I'd have time to write all these
books or like Mark, but no, I don't have any time.
I got three kids, no husband, and two jobs.
Bob says, well, could you do it in a minute?
Because in a minute, you can write 250 words.
She said, yeah, I guess I could.
And if you did that, just 250 work days, you get all the Jewish holidays off, Christian holidays off.
You get all the holidays off, and you don't have to work on Saturday or Sunday, but just one minute a day. Well, she never showed up, but Bob wrote the book
using his own model that he came up with while standing there called Born Rich, which I wrote
the foreword to. It's a great book. He sold 10 million copies. So it's a great book. But he said,
I've only got a minute a day because he had a lot of kids and he had whatever, I think he had a lot of kids. He had, whatever, I think he had 15 grandkids.
So his life's busy, and every Tuesday he'd have the grandkids
over in his house in Toronto during the summer to be in the pool with him.
And he just, he was a great man and a great friend
and spent time with every person that ever asked for help.
Bob would open up his heart and his soul, and he, I'm sorry,
I would get him on your show if he was physically here
because he was profoundly spiritual. He understood all the laws of the universe
and transmuted them into obviously wealth, health, happiness, joy, success, prosperity.
A legend. Legend. Legendary. That's another thing that was like leaving that legacy behind.
And I have actually felt that at moments where I need to hurry up and get this
out just in case something happens to me. I have said that too.
Well, okay.
So we own a publishing company called Mark Victor Hanson,
a library.com and we ghost write books for people who don't have enough time,
but have a story and we pull it out of them.
But so we do fiction, nonfiction,
but then the big thing we've started doing and we're doing really great ones.
And I like to talk about one of, we're saying,
let us do your biography because everybody ought to start doing their
biography at age 40. And I don't know your age.
And I know you never asked a woman her age,
but because you got to share your values.
You got to share your principles, your philosophy,
your trials and tribulation.
Because if you make money, they won't know when they get entitled.
But last but not least, what is your expectation of your kids and grandkids five generations
forward?
Now, only three people ever did that.
My hero, Andrew Carnegie, who taught Napoleon Hill.
And I've been to both of his houses in New York at 95th and Fifth Avenue.
And everyone ought to go there.
Because in marble on the wall at the place where Abe Lincoln and everybody stayed,
Helen Keller, Mark Twain, my hero.
Authors are the wealth of the nation.
But I would change it to authors are the wealth of the world.
But remember, we're talking about 1865.
He wrote all that.
And number two is no man or woman can get rich without enriching all others.
And what Andy discovered, he said, look,
Jesus didn't do a miracle water into wine at Canaan until he had 12 disciples
synchromesh. Now I say one and one equals 11. As you look at that.
And what we're talking about is he called it a mastermind alliance.
Jesus had 12 disciples. So he said,
if you can't do miracles until you got 12, I got to get 12.
So he put it together and he got
Charles Schwab, the original. Now we're in a third generation, Charlie Schwab with stocks,
but he put together all these 12 guys and he put it in his books, but Napoleon wrote about it.
Well, that's the transformation because it transformed his soul and the soul of those
12 guys. They all went to ascended power and delivered the goods and created the Industrial Revolution
so he could do bridges.
We never could have a high-rise building when Rockefeller wasn't playing a fair game with
them.
The three guys who did their expectations were Andy, Rockefeller, and Joe Kennedy.
They said, here's what I want our kids, grandkids, great grandkids do. And that's
what I've done for us. But everybody needs to do that. Because when you start to do your
expectation, you got to go to soul level. But because you're not going to say, well,
what I want to do is tomorrow, I want them to eat. Well, hell, that's, that ought to be a pretty
basic because we can do all that. And we can do it for total humanity now for the first time in
history, because technology equals a level of great freedom for all of us.
Absolutely.
I mean, Zoom, just the ability to do what we're doing right now and reaching people all over the world that are listening in this moment is so powerful.
COVID was atrocious, tragic at every level.
That's not the question. But because of that, Zoom created.
And I do Zoom calls.
I was on a Zoom call the other day with 10 million people in Vietnam.
And I've been to Vietnam twice and talked to thousands of people each time and get paid
75 grand a talk.
So I get paid a lot.
And we did them in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh and all that stuff.
And I love to be, and I'm trying to keep Vietnam
capitalistic rather than communistic because capitalism there, look, there's only three
basic systems, but the only one that works as Winston Churchill said, is capitalism.
Socialism has been tested, tried, and is an absolute tragic failure. And no, we don't have
a new level of it. It just has politicians that want to steal all the
money. And that's why if you read Animal Farm, when you went through high school or college,
it said all of us are equal, but some pigs are more equal than other pigs or people is what
they're really talking about. But that's socialism. Whereas in capitalism, every one of us can figure
out our talent, which in our book asks, we say everybody is born with
a miraculous talent. And your job is to go inside and say, God in me, what is my magnificent talent?
God in me, what is my magnificent talent? God in me, what is my magnificent talent? 101 times before
you go to sleep at night, wake up in the morning and make sure you've got your little pad and paper.
And I say, write in purple, obviously obviously because it's got a top of the
electromagnet spectrum but write down what your talent is and don't assume you'll remember it in
the morning because you won't remember it and you got one times because you got to push back all the
garbage you got to push back the dog barking the kids crying that did you didn't wash the dishes
whatever the stuff is you didn't finish this job, this assignment, or your 250 words today, whatever it is. Wow. You know that a lot of my book is about that,
is about my dreams, because my dreams were leading me, but I had to
keep that journal. I didn't use purple, but I have a journal and a pencil right next to my bed. But that's where a lot of
my book came from, was from this inner journey when I was asleep in my dreams and how they were
merging with all of these mystical and magical moments that unless you're present, you'll miss
them. And so I think that being conscious and raising
conscious children, like you said, is the most important thing. And I'm, by the way, I'm 48
and I have four kids and three of them are adults. One of them is on the spectrum
and I have an 11 year old. And this is the first time in my entire life I've ever been able to
create something that's not giving birth. Well, actually,
this is kind of giving birth. My podcast is Become Another Child, my work, and the message
of what exactly what you're saying is finding that within yourself. It's not outside of you.
I want to comment on it. First of all, you don't look 48. Second of all,
you've got adult children
and now be
real ass like Martin Luther King.
I feel that way.
Let's see. Yeah, they're totally dependent
then they're interdependent and all of a sudden when they're
adults, they can be interdependent
hopefully if everything went well.
And so I'm glad
and now more importantly, let's do the
prophetic dreams you have hopefully
you write them all the way out and the reason is in the ask book we start with the fable of
michaela because i said chris let's we wrote the whole book together but she wrote the fable because
she's so profound she had this fable come through her and it's so profound that hollywood came to
us and said that's got to be a movie so she's so so because you're writing let me just tell you that we went to jim stovall who's a guy
you got to have on one of my great friends who's the wisest man i know the guy who's blind who
we interviewed him for our ask book so you can read it there but he was a football player and then
went blind created narrative tv and has people around the world that are blind get to listen
to books on tape get to listen to movies get to to all because Jim had the problem. God gave it to him and
created something great out of it. But Stovall's interview, we're saying, hey, we've just been
asked to write this. And he said, Crystal, you wrote your prophetic dreams, go into your prophetic
dreams and let Michaela write the story. And it went from one to three screenplays. And we're
probably going to film it in Malta this summer.
But the point is, that's only on the ascended awareness that all of us have infinitely available.
But you've got to work at it.
You've got to spend a little bit of time in prayer.
Jesus said, go inside the secret closet of the most high, not the secret closet of the
most low.
The secret closet of the most low is the world mind. He said, wear the world mind like a loose cloth. You can't get sucked into
this and that. And all of us do, by the way, it's real easy. And then I realized when I went
bankrupt, I was reading the New York Times and it's all the news fit to print. Nope, they missed
the word. It's all the bad news fit to print because bleeding is leading stories, right?
And they sell.
So you got to shut off that channel.
Turn on a channel like yours.
Turn on channels like what I got on YouTube or on my books.
And I'm thankful my book touched your soul.
But that goes back to something we said earlier.
I would never meet you now if we hadn't written that then.
You've got people in your future that are meant to synchronize in time and space with you against the amount of goals
you, because the spiritual law is real clear. We write about it in Ask. You got to figure out what
you want. You got to ask, what do I want? And then you got to ask God, ask others, ask yourself,
ask others, ask God. But the law is the law. I didn't make the law. The law has got to, it's got to be in writing, right?
And then number three, you got to see it before you can have it.
And then number four is you got to put together your team to get your dream, the match of
mind alliance that, and what Andrew Carnegie said was you create a third new chemistry.
And when I learned that from Andrew Carnegie, I'm back in New York, just starting as a young
speaker.
And I was a speaker that wrote, and then I was a writer that speaks, and now I'm back in New York just starting as a young speaker.
And I was a speaker that wrote, and then I was a writer that speaks, and now I'm a writer that speaks and publishes.
So it's been a wonderful evolution and elevation.
But I would have meetings on Tuesday morning, and I'd have a guy from Reverend Ike's church, second biggest minister there, Dr. Richardson Alford.
And we'd have the head of Chase Manhattan Bank.
We'd have 12 people.
After that went out, I would go out and sell seminars and and i was unstoppable i'd get more seminars selling in
life insurance business the life insurance has been his headquarters in manhattan which like
i said they eat their young but i was so energized i i overwhelmed my energy and And I don't, I got to look backwards, but I don't think anyone really said, no, somebody
may not have hired me, but right.
Emerson said, as in compensation, every act is its own reward.
Meaning that every time I asked somebody to buy, if they didn't buy, somebody else would
buy that.
I'd already talked to her here, a recommendation or something.
So I was doing four seminars a day and only Tony Robbins and I ever did that many. And Tony says,
take massive action to get massive result. Well, yeah, that's right. But I add massive right action
in the right direction at the right purpose after you ask right to get right result. So
I'm not beating on Tony. Tony's a giant in physical and mental and spiritual.
Yeah, definitely has made a difference in the world.
Absolutely.
He's done his part.
I actually did see in a dream my book.
I was sitting there trying to figure out how I could fit all this information in one book.
And it came to me in a dream that it wasn't going to be one book.
And I saw the spine of three books. And together, they created a picture when you put them together.
But I could sleep so much better once I saw that in my dream. So isn't it amazing when we get out
of our own way, then we can actually see the answer to what you're trying to do.
First of all, you're exactly right.
At the human sense of level, the little sense of us, there's stoppages, there's withholds.
At the God sense of us, when we go to that ascended sense of us, there's only the answer, only the solution.
And that's why it's in the quiet times when you're in that higher state of consciousness
that the answer comes.
But most of us aren't wise enough to get our little butt out of bed, turn on a light, tell
our spouse or spouse equivalent, I got to write this down.
I heard this crazy guy named Mark Victor Hansen.
And by the way, a guy sold $2 billion worth of books and a billion in licensing,
more than anybody else. So he must know something because he keeps figuring out how to do stuff.
No, it's not a one-off. It's not a Mark can do it, nobody else can. All of us are supposed to do it.
All of us go to escalated, elevated, ascended states of consciousness. And in that state of
consciousness is the answer. And that's what you're saying. You
came up with the answer, but all of us have been told just the opposite. I could read one more
book. I could go to one more seminar. I know you need to do those additionally, because you can
have an academic education and good for you. You've got a CPA, an engineering degree, whatever.
But, and by the way, I'm all for blue collar too and if you're blue collar you get you study with saying like tommy mellow or we're doing all the books on the blue collar gold rush
because half people shouldn't go to college it's a waste of time because we need plumbers
yeah mechanics make a lot of money plumbers holy cow you know the joke about the plumber
a surgeon in the middle of the night his plumbing is flanking and flanking away.
And he calls up the plumber and says, can you come out here and fix my plumbing?
And in one whack of the wrench, it stopped.
He said, that'll be $458.
The neurosurgeon says, wait a second, I only charge $100 an hour.
And I went to school for 28 years. You get that?
He said, yeah, because I knew what to do
and where to do it. And I didn't need to have that waste time in school. And I got neurosurgeons
that we've done books with that we love. And I'm very close friends with Dr. Ben Carson. So
I'm not beating on neurosurgeons. He's the best in the world. 15,000 operations, not one kid died.
Pediatric neurosurgery. Ben wrote a book I wrote
before too called Gifted Hands.
If you haven't read it, you want to read it or watch the video.
It's with Cuban Gooding
Jr.
It's on Netflix or Prime or somewhere.
Gifted Hands.
What I said is
everyone's got a talent.
In my book, One Minute Millionaire,
I think you've seen this is the only
book that teaches the soul of money and what happened we got a million dollars to write with
random house but i said bobby i did it with a he's an astrophysicist actually bob allen but he wrote
50 ways to buy real estate for nothing down sold 50 million copies and he said hey let's write this
together anyhow the enlightened way to wealth one minute millionaire. But we said, look, there's a million ways to make a million, one right,
perfect, easy, acceptable way to you. But it's only if you go to the God consciousness in you
that you can find it. And then what we say about all my books, they got to be original, which is
everything you're doing is. Number two, it's got to be transformative to the end product, the
user. In this case, you said my books sourced and served you. And then number three, it's got to be transformative to the end product the user in this case you said my book
sourced and served you and then number three it's got to be inevitable that you'll i'm sure you
recommended the book to somebody right that's called pass along value in the book business but
this is the original first of all this is god's highest two colors we said lavender and gold
that's our yeah but it's on the left handhand side, it's your left brain. Nobody ever tried to do this. And right-hand side, it's the emotional story.
We sold so many so fast. Cause I,
we figured out a new way to market books that we melted down Amazon,
which Jeff Bezos calls up and said, how do you guys do that?
Because he was being cocky and arrogant and saying,
nobody can sell more books than Amazon can do it. Now that's 1991.
So, but we rocked it. and then we did sequels to it cracking the millionaire
code and cash in a flash and richest kids and all these fun and not to mention that you're in the
book of world records for selling the most books ever yeah well by the way i love doing it and
i can tell it it ain't humble if it's true.
I mean, there's some people say, did you really sell all those books?
I said, look, Guinness Book of Records checks your underwear.
They are really tough.
That's amazing.
You can tell that you're passionate about it.
And I think when someone is passionate about something, they're going to be successful.
Yeah.
It just kind of part of it.
Well, by the way, here, let's stay with that for a second.
I say you got to be passionately purposeful, but that's only when you're in tune with what
you're supposed to do.
I believe, and I'm holding it up now for a mirror for you to say, hey, this is true or
not true.
I believe, and I'm going to tell you why after you answer your answer to this, but everybody
comes in coded at DNA and RNA level to do something.
That's what our ask book does.
We ask 178 questions to find out what the heck you're coded to do.
I'm not here to tell you what you're going to supposed to do already.
You came in with an inner sense of knowing in the secret place.
Do you agree with that?
I do.
So let me go then step number two. And somebody who's out there listening and they've got their arms folded and they got their hands
over their heart, they're shut down and going, I don't believe that crap at all. I don't know
where Mark gets this stuff. He makes this stuff up. Look, go watch. There's 20,000 videos on
YouTube about near-death experience.
We're writing a book now for the most incredible near-death experience ever that I've ever heard.
And I've watched a lot of them.
But every one of them, this guy was dead 24 minutes before he came back.
And then he was in a coma for 28 days.
And he lost every part of his body.
His liver died.
His heart died.
And he came back.
And now he's healthier than ever when he came back to business, 430% up. So it's going to be one heck of a great book.
The point I'm making is, when you go to the other side, you meet somebody, and if you're in the
Christ model, you see Christ, usually you're Jewish, somebody like Moses or Elijah, and if
you're a Buddhist, you see Buddha. If you're Hindi, we can go through all the religions,
because I'm scholarly in them, but the point I'm making is you get with that being or
that essence or that group, right? And they say, hey, wait a second, you're not staying.
You go, wait a second, I'm in pure bliss, baby. I'm hearing better music, seeing better colors.
The whole deal. I mean, that story, I think better than I do.
I mean, you've heard it from everybody,
but you got to go back to your job wasn't done.
You came in to do something.
And every one of them says the same thing.
I was told my life force energy was dedicated
when I was on the other side, agreeing with God,
that I'm going to go into this incarnation
with this mom and dad that I helped choose.
And I'm going to go pull off X with this mom and dad that I helped choose,
and I'm going to go pull off X. And if you didn't pull off X, you don't get to leave until you pull off X. I don't know what X is for everyone. Do you agree with what I just said? I absolutely do.
Yeah. Isn't it interesting? Oh, yeah. And I think it's the journey of having to go through
challenges and sufferings to be able to get back to that place where you do have
understanding of that. Because I mean, of course, I didn't know that I had this purpose and passion
all that as a child, but I do believe and I can see that it was in me. I can see it was in my
personality, but I think that life kind of closed that off for me as, I as a child it was open but then when I was trying to keep up
with the Joneses that actually significantly actually dampened and lengthened that which I
think was all purposeful though yeah but when you found yourself you feel better because now you're
passionately purposeful about your destiny code, whatever that is.
My destiny is to write, speak, create great businesses that are going to change the world.
That's what Chicken Soup did.
When 144 publishers turned on Mark and Jack, I'll blame myself because I said, we're going to sell a billion books.
You've got to admit the guy reading that at Random house or simon and schuster or maro goes
nobody's sold even a million books he's gonna sell a billion a thousand times more well i am
because you're supposed to live a minimum 120 years so i'm gonna live be 127 with options for
renewal because most people don't like how long they're gonna live so i got all that written and
i know exactly what i'm gonna do so i got more back to elasticity of time. I got more time than most people. Yeah, me too. And you know what? And I have plenty of time to
get my book to Neil and that's only the first book and I'm going to sell a lot of books.
It's my opinion that you do. How's that? Thank you. I will receive that.
Good. And take it to bank. I'll endorse your book when it's finished. How's that thank you i will receive that good and take it i'll endorse your book when it's finished
how's that oh i would appreciate that the most that would be amazing i mean i first of all never
thought in a million years i'd be talking to you right now or talking to someone like neil so that's
what's so important right where you get out of your way and you allow that infinite space of possibilities.
Totally.
It's there.
We all have it.
The Bible talks about you got to be the chosen people.
Interpret that to mean every one of us has got to decide in favor of ourselves to be
self-chosen positively and correctly.
First of all, you got to love yourself and then you can love your neighbor.
Understand the leadership at the time, the Sadducees and Pharisees and the boys and the girls,
they said, look, we got a real good deal going here and we lead a really comfortable life.
This guy wants the life to have everybody have it. And they thought there was only this much
to go around. And what my teacher in speaking, Cabot Robert, taught me is not how big a piece of pie we get, it's how big we make the pie. But the pie is a pie of ascended awareness,
ascended consciousness, ascended soul that is infinitely expanding because universe is expanding.
And if you're made in the image and likeness of the universe, you're supposed to expand.
But at Mark Victor Hanson Library, we'd take you soup to nuts, get you a book. And every one of
our books, 31 last year, went to number one.
Because we know how to help you get to where you want to go.
If you'll do, be passionately on purpose about your destiny code to deliver the goods.
We did two spiritual books with another guy you got to have on us, Dr. Lou Tartaglia.
Return of the Magi.
And in the second book, Return of the Cloth.
And Return of the Cloth is about the Shroud
of Turin and I wrote the foreword and Luigi he and I've been friends 50 years said hey would you
write this in the zone of J.R. Tolkien and C.S. Snow and I said wow so I wrote the whole thing
because I saw the Shroud of Turin Mary Kay of Mary Kay Cosmetics took me to see it and it was
so mind-blowing because 28 people gone to see it 14 atheist agnostic and 14 gung-ho Christians. And this guy,
Jesus, when he died, the Jews wrapped the shroud from the bottom of your heel over the top of your
head down to your feet again. He was 6'4". I'm 6'4", but I weigh a lot more than he did. He only
weighed 174 pounds. But when
you do the nail, you got to do it here. You do it here. It'll go out like that. Same with the foot.
The feet had to be crossed and done here. And that's what it was. But this guy had so much
back to light force energy because when a baby's born, when you got pregnant four times,
light is the first thing that happens, right? I don't know if you know that or seen those videos
on YouTube. They're just exquisite. But in the beginning was the light. Well, light is the first thing that happens, right? I don't know if you know that or seen those videos on YouTube. They're just exquisite. But in the beginning, it was the light. Well,
light is the birth. Well, light is the birth of conscience. Light is a birth of awareness. Light
is a birth of what we've done on this podcast saying, hey, everyone's got to get lit, right?
And because you're either in darkness and turned off or you say, I'm going to come to light. And
then once you get light, you've got to keep adding more energy to it and make your
light bigger, brighter.
And that's why Christ said, don't hide it under a bushel.
But the point being is that we all have potentially infinite light to turn on and turn up.
And that's what I'm here to hold up with you and say to everybody who's willing to watch,
hey, wait a second, wake up to the infinite in you because you're infinite. You're supposed to have a fulfilled, thrilled life of exquisiteness. And I married the goddess
of exquisiteness when I was figuring out what I wanted to wife. I literally wrote, it's in the
20th anniversary issue of Chicken Soup. You can get cheap at thriftbooks.com. But the 20th,
I wrote down 267 things I needed in my ideal wife.
She had to be a superb conversationalist, endlessly interesting to me and me to her.
She had to decide that she could travel with me, love my business.
I love hers.
That's a positive.
And she's beautiful.
She's gorgeous.
And you're going to interview her and everyone can see.
But why is even more than beautiful.
But she couldn't smoke because I'm not going to kiss an ashtray or be an alcoholic or a drug user. So everybody needs to do
that. And most people go, well, I just want eye candy. If you're a man and a woman, I want him
to hold dark handsome. And if he could be rich, that'd be really nice. Those three are okay,
but they're superficial. Yeah. You do talk a lot about journaling.
So writing down what you want, writing down your dreams.
Are you a note taker?
Oh.
I mean, look at my notes.
I've got notes all day.
I'm a doodler and note taker.
Me too.
I got 50 years of journals, which when we closed down my big office where we were doing
100 million a year,
and I had 50 years of journals, my wife said, you don't want to keep them.
I said, no, they're more important than anything else here.
Because you need to know what you thought and what you said and what you felt and what you promised yourself you'd do.
And stuff that I said 50 years ago is now coming true.
Life's exquisite, but the law is the law.
It says in Habakkuk, you've got to write a thing and make it clear
that it'll be established
on you.
Well, that's definite.
Certainly, what it doesn't say is it's going to be tomorrow because everyone says, well,
I want to be rich tomorrow.
Or I want to be healthy tomorrow because I'm sick today or whatever it is.
It isn't necessarily like that because remember, there's no time and no space.
When you get in awareness, you can come back to the divinity.
When we did this book on Reverend Ike, while he was considered a prosperity minister, the truth is the biggest chapter is supernatural
healing. I'd watch people come in on a gurney that had tuberculosis and he could heal them
because he never saw the sickness. He saw the health of the person, same thing Jesus did.
He'd take alcoholics from drying out during a service. And that's why he was the biggest
black evangelist ever. I mean, he had 20 million followers in America, 20 million in Africa, but then his wife said, well,
he was your best friend and he died. Would you write his book? And I go, oh my gosh.
And that's got us into the biography business four years ago. And you want a great story. I'll
finish with one if you're open. Yeah. Tell me. So I've known this guy 30 years, you know,
because Paul Mitchell hair, right?
He's got some of the best shiny hair products in the world called Paul Mitchell hair.
But at 21 years old, he is selling encyclopedias door to door, not doing well.
He comes home and he's walking up the stairs and his wife's walking downstairs.
She said, throw me the keys.
There's a note on our little four-year-old baby.
You'll know exactly what to do.
He gets up there and he reads the
note and the note says, I can't stand you. I can't stand our life. You get to keep John Paul.
I've emptied the bank accounts. I've emptied the credit cards. I'm out of here. Well, for a while,
he has to take his little motorcycle, take John Anthony up to Griffin Park in LA and got fed by
Hell's Angels, which he still buys everybody in Hell's Angels. He's not in Hell's Angels, but they fed him,
and Hell's Mamas took care of little John Anthony,
who now runs this gigantic billion-dollar business called Paul Mitchell.
But then he found Patron, and he does 100 million bottles a month of Patron.
That's a billion to it.
We're going to put order forms in every Patron when his book comes out
in January next year called Success Without Sharing is Failure.
Now, he's down in Caribbean at Barbuda, and hurricanes have wiped out this whole island.
So he said, well, I'm going to do something about it.
And he hires the top ichthyologist fish doctor in the world, and they brought back the coral.
They brought back the fish.
They brought back the turtles.
They got 100% employment, and now he's making all the Caribbean 28 islands hurricane-proof.
Well, you and I are in this exquisitely exciting place.
Then he's in Africa, in Mali, Africa.
And I met the king because of him from Mali in Western Africa.
And he said, what's wrong here?
And he said, we don't have any water.
So he goes over there, puts in 44 wells.
And just as a volunteer, they grow so much food
in Mali, it's now feeding five countries around Africa.
That's the right use of money.
Money for the sake of money is not useful.
It's just stuff.
It's just paper.
It's just men.
Money's utility is in its work.
And that's why he says success without sharing is failure.
And you can watch his videos and videos I've done with him online. JP, John Paul DeJoria is one of my great friends. And we're doing
biographies like his because we take people's impact stories and bring them to life. You never
heard the story before, did you? No, it's a beautiful story though. Yeah, but he owns 40
companies and he's 82 years old that are transformative to the world because he and I
want to make the world work for 100% humanity physically, economically, emotionally, and
spiritually. That's a soul commitment. I'm very thankful for him and he can't write, but I can.
And I pull a story out of him and we're writing it like we did Reverend Ike's book,
A Man of Extraordinary extraordinary influence, but his book is
Success Without Sharing is Failure. We've got a lot of successful people financially,
but their souls are empty. Because if you think money is going to fill your soul,
you're bankrupt. You're broke. You haven't got it.
Yeah. And those people will save the world because that's what we need more of right now
in the world. We got too many powers be that are soulless.
Well, exactly.
Which is why we think our little book company,
which is growing like a rabbit from a hormone diet.
We think like the Queen Mary takes seven miles to turn around with one little rudder.
We think we're the rudder or on an airplane, it's called a trim tab.
We're the little rudder that of impact stories
that are going to change the world just like our chicken soup helped as a little book we're taking
little books and making them big books i mean we're having a ball and remember yeah hey so i
got plenty of time to write all these and more that people want their biographies written if
they qualified us and we qualify them we'll do it it. You have that book behind you. You have a book
in you. When I saw you come through and I saw those words, I said, oh, that's going to be the
name of this episode because I believe that we all do. We all have a story. And if we go deep
into that space, those stories can really, really help the world, just like Paul Mitchell's.
God bless the publisher of that book. They publish it for $10 at Amazon. But the first
thing I do is 101 reasons why you got to do it. Because what Jim Rowan taught me a long time ago,
he said, money makes you more who you are. And that's correct. But he also said,
we don't succeed at the level we could because we don't have enough reasons. So I said,
why don't I give people a lot of reasons? Like you hit three of them earlier. First of all, it's legacy value. Second, it has you understand
your own identity. Because unless you write it and look at it in cold, hard print, you go,
holy cow, right? And then the third thing is it sources and serves others in ways that nothing
else can do. The amount of wisdom that you've shared, it's like you just flood with it.
And so thank you so much.
I appreciate this so much.
I learned so much and I'm excited right now.
I think I'm going to go work on my book.
Not I think.
I'm going to go work on my book
after I get off this call with you
for the rest of the day until I pick up a kid.
Good.
Have at it.
Thank you so much.
Tell everybody where they can find you.
MarkVictorHansenLibrary.com. MarkVictorHansenLibrary.com. And then the other one is
AskTheBook.com if you want to become a master asker, because the front end of our success is
if you know how to A-S-K to G-E-T all the good you want and fulfill your life and your soul and
the visions you could have and the dreams you hope for yourself.
And we want everyone to go to those places.
We made all the videos and that.
We're giving them away free because the deal is you get abundance
so you can help everybody.
Give them a hand up, not a handout.
And I believe in philanthropy,
but you've got to make sure your philanthropy is honest and has integrity.
Yeah.
It was such a pleasure meeting you.
Thank you very much. And I definitely want to interview your wife and Jack.
Good. I'll get it done for you. I'm asking. Thank you, Mike.
