Today we have with us Angela Kim, the founder of Saver Beauty, a natural skincare and facial spa brand inspired by Korean beauty. And she is a former international classical concert pianist. She is also a bestselling author. And she's joining us today to tell us about her new book, Radical Radiance, 12 Weeks of Self-Love Rituals to Manif rituals to manifest abundance, beauty, and joy.
Starting point is 00:01:06 And it's an honor to have Angela with us today. So nice to meet you. So nice to meet you. Thank you so much for your time today. And I'm so excited to find out all about your amazing spa brand, which we have also had on Dr. Janelle Kim. She's the founder of JBK Wellness Labs, and they do all the formulas behind a lot of high ends. And it was based off of her ancestors. So where are you from and how did you get into this? I believe that there's an energy behind most products. So the intention behind the product, I think is important and makes the product even better. So my mom is Korean and I'm Korean, obviously. So what I love about Korean beauty is often, you know, they're the leaders in the skincare industry. It's a billion dollar industry today.
Starting point is 00:02:00 And they're always coming out with these trendy new skincare products. But what I love to do is go deeper and peel back the onion layer. And so there's a reason why Koreans are at the forefront of the skincare industry. It's because they've been working on their skin radiance from as far back as AD 19. And they used to, Korean women used to create natural concoctions from safflower, peach oils, apricot oils. And it was used to remove age spot and to add a glossy sheen to the skin, like a glossiness, you know? And I don't, have you ever heard of the saying, Shana, that says as above, so below, so below, as above? I would have to say that over the past year, that would have been my theme. So yes. Well, this comes from, this is how astrologers,
Starting point is 00:02:55 they've used this adage to explain that like everything is interconnected. You know, the stars and the earth, it's all inextricably linked in more ways than we know. And so, and in ancient Korean times, specifically the body and spirit were considered one. And so inner happiness is reflected in our physical being. So I just love that it's all intertwined. We were talking about earlier on the call, Shanna, how the skin and spirit are intermingled in mysterious and non-mysterious ways. So that's really how I'm connected to the Korean lineage. And I'd like to take it way deeper than just skincare and your pores. I would call them your inner pores. Oh, I love that. Cause it's the first,
Starting point is 00:03:47 you know, it's our most superficial organ. It's actually an organ. It's the biggest organ. Yes. My mom used to always say, you know, take care of your skin because it's, it's all you've got. Right. So, and then to, to really answer your question even more in a more profound way, my mom, she was my muse when I started Saver Beauty, which is an organic skincare brand inspired by these Korean beauty rituals. And my mom today, she's 70 something. She looks like she's 40. It's proof that skincare is not a sprint. It's a marathon. And I just grew up watching her and her sisters massage their faces, wash their faces, and until it was glistening and mesmerizing. And my mom used to always say, treat your skin with
Starting point is 00:04:41 the most expensive silk on earth. and I think that's a beautiful adage for treat yourself like you're the most expensive on earth do you feel like so genetics well obviously genetics has a lot to do with it if this has been a practice that they've been doing forever well then that's why a lot of people in the Korean culture, if this is like a culture thing, then this obviously becomes part of your genetics that you guys have good skin. Did you do the same with hair too? Because I must say, you're like, wow. Don't you think that that is the reason why then? If this has been such an importance, I mean, this has been carried down in your genes.
Starting point is 00:05:24 That's amazing. I mean, this has been carried down in your genes. That's amazing. I don't know. I mean, I grew up with a lot of skin breakouts and I also, Shanna, this is terrible. Okay. This is a terrible admission, but I would go to the pool, put on Johnson baby oil all over my body. No, I did it.
Starting point is 00:05:40 You did it too. Okay, good. And then I would just bake for like four to six hours. And that was like my summer ritual. So what we, what we did back then is showing up in our skin today. So hyper pigmentation is a really big, especially for Asian skin, sunspot, dark spots, age spots. This is why I've come out with like things like the pumpkin peel, which is a lactic acid peel for the skin. We have two spas, facial spas, one in upper on the upper West side and one in the West village. And so we specialize in these organic facials that work. And so we combine technology with organic skincare. And so
Starting point is 00:06:21 one of our biggest requests for skincare is hyperpigmentation, brown spots. So we've created all of these peels and these techniques to really help brighten the skin. And then another big request we have is acne. And so we do a lot of extractions. And so, you know, but a lot of these things they come from are inside, you know, come and they say, well, my skin is so dry, dull, or I'm breaking out. We say, yes, a facial will definitely help. We'll do extractions. We will do led therapy.
Starting point is 00:06:56 We will put on the right products, but you, if you go home and continue using what I call low energy, low vibration products, and if you continue to eat foods that you know are not good for you, and if you continue to live a stressful lifestyle, you know, you can come in for as many facials as you want. You can buy the most expensive creams you want, but if you don't change your lifestyle, your skin tells you what's going on with you physically, emotionally, spiritually. Absolutely. Well, and how much does hormones also have to go along with that? You know, it's the only time I get a pimple or anything, it'll be right, you know, around,
Starting point is 00:07:37 you know, or was when I used to have normal periods right around that time. And actually my daughter, who is 10, just yesterday, she woke up with a little pimple on the top of her nose. And I said, Oh my gosh, your first pimple. I was like, don't touch it. But you know, that too, some people are pickers. So majority of people are pickers and you know, it's very tempting to pick at it when you see that it's ready to be picked up. Just go take her to the esthetician. Yeah. When it's ready to get popped, the esthetician will do the extractions and start her on a healthy skincare routine. But a lot of teenagers, you know, mine included, they want to eat sugar. They want to drink soda.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Yeah. And a lot of people are coming to us. They're lactose intolerant. They should be not having as much gluten and sugar. So these things contribute to how we feel internally and what's going on externally. You are what you eat. So it's interesting how today we're bringing in these very natural elements of earth, right? Into our skincare going more natural. Yes. Well, I think there's a lot of science that packs up a lot of data that shows that these natural ingredients work. So for example, we have rosehip oil that I love in our pumpkin serum. I love using rosehip oil in our truffle face creams, in our ingredients. Rosehip oil is one of my favorite oils because it's been scientifically proven to help lighten the, you know, for me, I'm very interested in
Starting point is 00:09:19 lightening those brown spots that I got from baking in the sun, right? For hours when I was a teenager. So rosehip oil has been scientifically proven to help lessen the brown spots. And like vitamin C? And vitamin C as well. Vitamin C is fantastic for, you know, we also have the powder. So we use it in our facials as an exfoliant, as a mechanical exfoliant. And vitamin C has the added benefit of loads of antioxidants. Yuzu, we have a Yuzu lemonade peel. Yuzu has loads of vitamin C, even more than oranges. And this, with antioxidants. It helps with acne prone skin. It helps to brighten the skin.
Starting point is 00:10:08 So there's a lot of, as you said, power in natural ingredients. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of stress going on with kids alone. And then they have to go into, you know, middle school, high school when they're like at the top of their hormones and, you know, deal with acne, you know, it makes me feel so sad, you know, it's caused a lot of depression, also stuff like eczema, you know, other skin issues. Well, so let's talk a little bit about the acne. Cause I'm very sensitive to it because my daughter has started to get teenage acne and she's is a self-admitted sugar lover. She does. Ever since, like I introduced her to a chocolate chip cookie, she's she, I remember
Starting point is 00:10:51 she was three years old and she was in the dining room area and I was in the kitchen. I heard her say, you're my best friend. You're my best friend. And I thought she was talking to me and I ran out to give her a hug and she was kissing the chocolate chip cookie. And she was saying, you're my best friend. I love you so much. Yes. So real love for sugar. So she and I have talked a lot about, you know, listen, if you want to have your skin like mama, I don't eat a lot of sugars. I'll have a bite here and there and I will enjoy a chocolate, but I'm not going to, you know, drink Coke. I'm not going to drink
Starting point is 00:11:27 Pepsi. I'm not going to load my body with these sugars that I know are going to make me break out. So I introduced her to a skincare routine. And one of them was the Yuzu lemonade peel that I was talking about. It has things like Kakadu plum in it, which contains speaking of vitamin C, Jenna, it contains high levels of vitamin C to help with brightening the skin. And it helps with cellular turnover, which is a gentle exfoliation, right? It also has salicylic acid, which exfoliates the skin and unclogs the pores. We talked about yuzu earlier that brightens and tones the skin. So these natural ingredients can go a long way if you teach your daughters and sons how to treat their skin really well.
Starting point is 00:12:11 And then also how to eat foods. They're more mindful about what's going into their bodies, right? Right, exactly. No, we do. Actually, we do a mindful eating. We did mindful eating for a while. And that really affected my daughter when she was eating chicken nuggets when she realized oh this is a chicken and I was like
Starting point is 00:12:32 yes what did you think it was but yeah but you know what we should be mindful also into the fact that how you know how it's going to come out of us, you know? And yeah, I totally agree. It's funny. We have, I actually heard of you from a friend of mine. She, she also has been on this podcast before and she's, she's been a client of mine. I've been a client. And she had just amazing things to say about you when she worked for you. Oh my gosh. Who is this? Ellen Shamilov. Oh my goodness. Wow. Okay. Yes. So she worked for us, I think about a year or so ago, I believe. What a small world. And I just put it together not too long ago because I went to your Facebook and she followed you. And I was like, wait a minute. One of the things that she had mentioned to me was your, your book. And specifically, actually, maybe it's not even
Starting point is 00:13:30 your book. You'll have to correct me if I'm wrong. You have some sort of journal. Yes. Okay. So we have the Saver Beauty self-care planner and it's called My Next 90 Days. That's what she told me about. Yes. Yes. So what that is, is it's life-changing. I mean, we've had over a thousand reviews, mainly five-star reviews on savorbeautyplanner.com over a hundred thousand sales of this planner that just took me by surprise. It's my system of how to get things done and manifest, but take care of yourself at the same time. And so I have the saying, boost your radiance to boost your revenue. So boost your radiance to whatever, make more money, boost your radiance to manifest, but boost your radiance to be a better,
Starting point is 00:14:19 whatever you want to put the label on it, right? Mom, partner, significant other, employee, boss, leader, whatever you label yourself as. So I think taking care of ourselves first, and you're a mom, so you can relate to this. When you're not taking care of yourself, what happens to you? Your patience goes down. You're not able to lead your daughter as well as you know you can. You don't feel good. You're tired, right? So I used to be like that. I can totally relate to that where I was overwhelmed, overworked, tired, irritated, impatient.
Starting point is 00:15:00 And then I was like, you know, it's because I'm not filling my well. I'm not filling my cup. So I have nothing to give. Can you relate to that? Yeah, a hundred percent. And I think that having a journal or some sort of record of this, so you can actually see this, this is why I think journaling is so powerful because if like even dream journaling, if I write down my dreams for a whole week, they may not make sense for one day, but after a month of it, it may tell a whole story. So how is it beneficial that you keep track of the self-care?
Starting point is 00:15:30 Because when you write it down, you're more likely to make it happen. And I think what happens is we say, oh, I'm going to care for myself at the end of the day. And then it gets shoved because it's not a priority. And I'm saying, no, make it a priority. And when you do that, you raise your radiance. You boost it inside. Everything that happens on the inside of us is what we manifest, right? The inner kilter first, and then it goes into the outer axis. Is that almost like holding yourself responsible? You know, by running it down.
Starting point is 00:16:03 It's all about holding yourself accountable to take care of yourself, which I think is key to success. I read this thing when we heal and warm ourselves from within that warmth radiates out as love. And the more love and warmth we give to ourselves, the more warmth and love we give to others. You know what I just thought of is, you know how when someone's pregnant, when a woman's pregnant, they have that glow. Yes. Yes. So everything you just said, for some reason, I just imagine that you have all this love inside of you. Yeah. That's kind of shines outside of you. Yeah. Yes. And I think also the self-care saver beauty planner, I created it because people always ask me, how do you manifest so much? So this book is do it for 90 days. I promise you'll see the magic
Starting point is 00:16:52 of manifestations coming into your life, but also as the years progressed, as we all evolve, that's when I started to layer in the pieces of self-love and self-care because I would manifest something very, that's, it's a gift manifesting has come very easily to me, but at the pieces of self-love and self-care because I would manifest something very, that's, it's a gift manifesting has come very easily to me, but at the cost of my health. So let's say I say, oh, I want to build this business. I could build it, but at the cost of my health, at the cost of my emotional wellbeing. So now I'm saying, no, we can all build success in a different way. We can all be our whole self in a different way if we can take care of our inner being. Wow. So how did you get there though, Angela? How did you come to this?
Starting point is 00:17:33 Because I know I say very similar when it comes to being, you know, that self-love journey that I went on was one of the very first things for me that broke me open. So I'm, you know, I'm from a Southern family. I'm from New Orleans. So my roots are like the women are the martyrs and the family. God, when I was little, actually up into my twenties, I wanted to be that martyr too. And self-care for myself was the last thing. Well, let's rewind just a little bit. First of all, hello, New Orleans is amazing. I love it. That's one of my favorite cities. We went there for my birthday last year and we loved it. Oh my gosh. Like love the dancing and the food. It was so fun, but yeah, I loved it. Okay. But back to
Starting point is 00:18:18 what made me decide that self-care and self-love was like really important. So I crashed and burned. I was building this business and Saver Beauty, and it had become this multiple seven figure business. And yet I wasn't happy. I also had an entrepreneurial organization called Saver the Success. And I just like, everybody wanted a piece of me. They wanted to get advice from me all the time. And I just realized at the end of the day, there was, I had given everything to everyone, but myself. And so I'd come to the place where I didn't know myself and what I did know myself, I hated, you know, I was like, wait a minute. I just feel like I'm, I'm reactionary. I'm, I'm always running
Starting point is 00:19:02 around. I don't, I feel empty. I don't like spending time with myself because all I hear is you should, you need to do this. You've got to be better. You can do better. And I don't, I just didn't like that. Who, who wants a friend like that? Right. Jenna, if you had a friend that was like at the end of the day, oh, you loser, you could do better. You would be like, you wouldn't be friends with that person. Oh, that's exactly the stuff I was hearing in my head. And I know so many women do, you know, we're always trying to be the best, do the best. Or the compare thing, right? So-and-so is doing better. So-and-so has this, why can't you? And that's sort of what I would go to bed with. And it's like, who would want to be friends with that?
Starting point is 00:19:41 And I, what my goal is with Radical Radiance, the book that I just wrote, it's 12 weeks of self-love rituals to manifest above its beauty and joy. The book is about falling in love with yourself, falling in love with your soul and your inner being. And then I provide 52 ways, there are 52 rituals in there to improve your relationship with your inner being on a daily basis. Take it or leave. Take it or leave some of the rituals. Take what sticks with you. Modify it.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Customize it. Make it your own. But have these rituals as you punctuate your days. Because if you can prioritize yourself, get to know yourself. And then like who you are so that you become your best friend. Well, and also that acceptance, right? I mean, because I have to be honest with you. One of the things talking about skincare in New Orleans, I have plasma, but only got it around when I was pregnant or of like every time I was out in the sun for years and then it's gone away,
Starting point is 00:20:46 but there's nothing you can almost do about it. Cause it would only show up for a few hours, like right above my lips, which I don't, I'm not a hairy person. So it wasn't hair, but it almost looked like a fricking mustache. And I would be so embarrassed my mom I remember her telling me that's a Cajun thing and I was like well and so we called it my Cajun I'm like oh my god my Cajun's coming out you know I'd have to like hide it I mean it was almost like this gene was coming from the inside of me outside right and it was affected temporarily by I don't know if it was heat or if it was the sun, you know, it's the strangest thing, this melasma. Well, you mentioned it was around your pregnancy, right? Yes, that too. So that happens to so many women during their pregnancy where they get
Starting point is 00:21:40 this melasma or they get odd, strange, foreign skincare issues that they never had before. Like I started to lose a lot of hair. I had so much plasma around my eyes. So Jenna, you're not alone. Okay. So you would get it around your eyes. Yes, I would get it around my eyes, but a lot of you're not alone. I mean, we see thousands of clients at Saver Beauty and the pregnant women, they're just like, what is going on with my skin? Just these babies, they temporarily steal your beauty because they're creating their own beautiful thing inside. Everybody steal everything. You mentioned eczema earlier. I wanted to kind of circle back to that because eczema is something that we see a lot with our clients as well. And it's just for those people who don't know what eczema is, it's, it's like a dry, itchy, often uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:22:32 feeling inflamed skin. For me, I started to get a lot of it when I was in college because it was very, my skin is very dry, but it was always inflamed during a period of stress. So eczema is one of those. Also, it's a condition that you should really see your dermatologist for, but if it's not that serious, sometimes it is inflamed by stress. Sometimes it's inflamed by, for me, it came when I was allergic to something and it would just become inflamed. So visit your dermatologist if it's something that is really bothering you. Also be inflamed by what you're eating as well. And I know we keep coming back to what you put in your body.
Starting point is 00:23:13 And by the way, let's zoom out a little bit. Now I'm not talking about eczema here, but I'm just talking about your radiance, your glow, and your general just aura beyond the pores of your skin. I think that we're talking a lot about what you eat and what you put in your body, but I always talk about also the toxicities that we put in our, our being with our thoughts. You know, there's, there are thoughts that are like sugar or gluten or things that are just not good for you. And can you put a boundary, you protect yourself and your, your inner being and your aura with the things that you're putting into your, your inner being, your, your mind. Do you know if say like something like oxytocin or serotonin or those kinds of levels that the happy and love hormones, do they, are they actually shown to
Starting point is 00:24:02 help skin? I don't know if it's well, oxytocin is that's like the love drug. And I think it's activated by touch. You know what? Okay. I'm going to say something very radical. Yeah. I'm going to say because oxytocin is also stimulated by love. I'm assuming I'm not, you know, I haven't studied. I'm assuming it's also stimulated when there's touch, there's sex, lovemaking. I think that's great for your skin. You know, we do savor beauty in our savor beauty facials. We have a Korean beauty lit massage and that stimulates your collagen. It stimulates your circulation. So women come out looking like they had the best lovemaking session flowing. They're rosy. They're just, they're radiant. And so, yeah, it must be, it must be the connection to the hormone oxytocin, you know, it's nothing.
Starting point is 00:24:58 I'm thinking about it because of course, I mean, if there's going to be hormones that are making you go wacky and have acne and all the things, I'm sure it'd be the opposite for the good hormones. That's so interesting. I never, ever considered that. You know, my daughter, I have four kids and, you know, my daughter actually worked at Sephora for six years, I believe. She just, she just actually is going to JC Penney's. They just are launching a new beauty.
Starting point is 00:25:22 Oh, wow. Yes. It's actually the main focus is on makeup and skincare. So she's been on my ass about stuff since she was 18. You know, she's been working there. So she's got me on Drunk Elephant. I'm like, stop bringing home these very expensive brands now that I absolutely rely on. We have so much samples. She's big on education and about what's behind the formula. And, you know, and she's actually really into the story. And because I, again, have full faith that if you are actually using products that have been mass produced by people who are being treated bad, that's not probably going to be a very good energy that you're putting on your face. So I truly believe in buying my products from people like you and people who,
Starting point is 00:26:21 you know, have a true passion behind it. Right. I would agree with you because I think everything is energy and there's a vibration to anything we hold in our lives. So, you know, Saver Beauty, that's why I've made it a priority to hire women, led and made by women. And the skincare is made in New York and it's made by someone that I hired over a decade ago.
Starting point is 00:26:42 She came to me, her name is Kat, and she came to me with a baby and she needed flexible hours. So I let her bring her baby to work and she works for the company to this day. And she puts so much love and attention and beauty into every single jar and bottle. Now we've got, of course, a much bigger team, but she leads that production. I trust her implicitly and there's a lot of integrity behind it. And so when you're holding a beauty product, I'm so proud that it's handmade in small batches with love. And so I feel because our clients, we call them guests at
Starting point is 00:27:18 Saver Beauty spas. They feel it. They've been clients for years. And sometimes people say to me, well, I didn't know why I was so attracted to it, but now I know why you put so much love into this and I felt it. So I think that's important, you know, in skin healing and also in energy and vibration. I believe in that as well. That's right. It's why your mama sandwich is always the best sandwich. Can't get one. Oh my gosh. I love that. You can go have it somewhere else, but you know, just not, which it drives me crazy. Cause my son always wants me to make him a sandwich. I'm like, you're 25 years old. You haven't figured out how to make a sandwich, but yeah, I should remember there's nothing like your mama sandwich. It's so true. But yeah, I absolutely love that about you. And I love that about your spas as well. Can you tell us about your spas? I live in Colorado, but if I ever come there, I would love
Starting point is 00:28:15 to visit your spa. I love color. You live in all the places I love. Okay. At savor beauty and spa, we specialize in organic facials and we combine it with technology like LED therapy, high frequency, ultrasound. And, you know, we have a very regimented training program with our estheticians. It's probably one of the top training programs in all of the United States. I would even dare to say because it's up a hundred hours and we take it very seriously. So, you know, we combine the Korean beauty techniques, you know, with our invigorating double cleanse, our Korean beauty facial lift massage, we do gentle, but thorough extractions. And then we combine it with our savor beauty skincare that we make fresh, you know, and people leave, as I said, with this like mesmerizing, gorgeous, gorgeous radiance, you know?
Starting point is 00:29:10 So that is our facials. And we bring in our in-house made peels, our masks, they make the masks fresh. I don't know, when I'm getting a Saver Beauty facial, I'm just like, this is heaven on earth, you know? So there's a signature behind it. It's very unique to it. Yes. Yeah. I love that. And then of course you use Saver products as well. Of course. Yes. Yes. Everything's made fresh. We deliver it on, I think a weekly basis now to the spas. And so these products have been made within the last month. So they're very fresh.
Starting point is 00:29:45 They're potent. They're vibrant. They're very, very efficient and effective. Wow. Yeah, that's amazing. You do a lot. Gosh, I mean that and you have time to write books. I mean, holy cow.
Starting point is 00:29:58 And you're a mom. Well, I think when you feel passionate and authentic and you live something authentically, it doesn't feel like a lot of work. It feels an extension of who you are. Same. I love that. I feel the same way. And I have just witnessed that with so many people. And I agree. And I always say, you know, if you're not happy where you're at, you're not supposed to really be there. So, you know, I think I told you earlier that we went on a little girl's getaway so that's why I'm taking this call in a in a spa resort right now and so last night for dinner she said mommy I want to be a doctor and not a business owner and I said why that's great be a doctor
Starting point is 00:30:38 she said because you have to fire people when you're a business person, don't you? And I said, well, yes, that's part of the job. And because I've hired and had to unfortunately let go of hundreds of people at this point, you know, I said, mama is used to it now. And she said, but how can you be used to it? It's mean. And I said, no, it's actually not mean. Because to your point, Shanna, what you just said, usually when it's time to part ways, it's because they are meant to do something else as well. And it's an opening for both. They are meant to go on to do something else. And we are meant to open up a field for something else, a new energy. So if they're not passionate or happy or whatever it is, it's not usually a personal thing. It's,
Starting point is 00:31:25 I believe it's more of an energetic spiritual. Oh yeah. You know what's so funny is mine's opposite. So my daughter's always been in that manager position and I'm like, I could never do what you do. I would be over, overextending myself completely, which I wanted to also point out and tell our listeners about how amazing I think this is because we just had on a guest who he had these universal truths and, and a lot of them are just kind of like what we're talking about. But one of his, like the most important one was giving back and helping others in need. And you have a dollar and cents program. Is that right? Yes. Where you help mothers transition back to the workforce. Shanna, I love how much research you've done. You're just bringing your A game here. It's
Starting point is 00:32:16 beautiful. Okay. So that's what I was telling you about earlier. The dollars and cents program really came from my dad passed away when I was 13 years old. And my mom, we grew up in Iowa and I was very nervous about how she would support me and my two younger sisters. So I was 13. And so we were all very young. My mom was not making a lot of money. She was a piano teacher. And I was just so worried. I was like, mom, how are you going to do this? Like without daddy. And I tried to help her find a job. So I, and also her English was not that amazing because she's an immigrant from Korea. She speaks beautiful English now, but so I would apply for her and I would always write, she has to pick us up from school
Starting point is 00:32:56 at three, you know, we didn't live in New York city where I live today, where you can take the subway. Like someone had to pick us up and it had to be my mom. And employers just wasn't, they weren't willing to be flexible for that. So the dollars to cents program was really meant to be flexible for my, for my moms who need to come to work for whatever reason to pick up their kids, bring their kids to work, or maybe they were transitioning after a life change, whether it was like a career change and we were going to give them the training for a second chance at a job, a career. So that's what the Dollars and Cents program is. So when I mentioned Kat, my first employee, I let her bring her baby to work.
Starting point is 00:33:38 And still to this day, she brings her, I don't know how old Kira is, but she still brings her to work. We can't do this at the spa because people don't want how old Kira is, but she still brings her to work. We can't do this at the spa because people don't want to see. But at the product facility, they can. And I let them. And we're very flexible. So sometimes they'll say, well, I have to take my daughter to the dentist this afternoon. Okay. You can work on Saturday instead. It's fine. If we can make it work, we'll make it work. So I think that's why a lot of our employees in the facility, they've stayed with us for so long because who else does that? Only somebody who's experienced the pain of not, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:18 my mom was not able to get a job because there was no flexibility for the kids. Right. Well, I mean, women supporting women, this is what we need, right? Stop the competition and the hating and trying to one up, you know, we need to support each other. And oh my gosh, the divine feminine is rising. You are amazing. Love your energy. I love what you bring to not only women, but also to anybody, because I have also a son with autism who he does have some skin issues because of hygiene. And so I'm definitely going to look at some of your products because he doesn't need anything that is going to have too much chemicals on it, which, you know, going to the grocery store, you're very limited. When somebody has
Starting point is 00:35:01 issues with it, when you say hygiene, are you saying that he's not washing his face at night? Right. No, you know, it would be like pulling teeth. Yeah. Yeah. So I think with every, you know, what I would recommend is our lavender toning mist. So you could just say at nighttime, because let's meet him where he's at. Right. He does not want to watch his face, have him missed his face so that at least the lavender is cleaning out the pores and giving it a refresher so that he loves facials. Oh, I know. Isn't that interesting?
Starting point is 00:35:35 But men are starting to be more open to this. I work at a spa, so I'm a massage therapist. I've been in the business. I can't leave. I only I'm down to three hours, but I just have so many clients. I can't leave them. And I love my spa, but I mean, I see so many men going to get facials nowadays. I'm like, yes, there you go.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Okay. Well, okay. A couple of things. I give my partner a facial and every once in a while, and he loves, loves it. In fact, that's what I'll probably do tonight. I feel inspired now to give him a facial because he just, he just glows after he loves it and men do love it. And the second thing is, okay, where in Colorado are you? I'm in Aurora. I'm a suburb of Denver. Oh, I, my best friend, one of my best friends lives there. She's getting
Starting point is 00:36:22 married in June of 2023. I would love to come and book a massage with you. She lives in Denver. Yes, for sure. I would love that. Deep tissue? Absolutely. With a little bit of Reiki.

One more thing. At the end of every episode, we ask our guests. And now it's time for break that shit down. The words and phrase that's coming to me is nourish to flourish, flourish yourself, take the time because we don't often take the time to get to know ourselves. Right. And especially when I told you earlier that I didn't like spending time with myself because it was the shoulda woulda you got to be better. You can do better than this.
Starting point is 00:39:23 When you stop that judging and the critiquing and the meanness to yourself, and you start spending time with yourself and accepting yourself and saying, and meeting yourself where, where you are.
