Hey true crime besties, welcome back to an-new episode of Serialistly with me, Annie Elise, your host of this podcast and your host of today's episode, Headline Highlights, where we are going through everything that has gone down this week in the true crime world. And I feel like it's Groundhog's Day in a way because is it Groundhog Day or Groundhog's Day? I don't know but you get what I'm saying. I feel like every week I always say that like I always say oh my gosh there's so much to talk about this week there's so much going on and it's kind of disheartening because it always seems to be the case right there always seems to be the scum of the earth do some sort of unspeakable act,

and that is what we're here to talk about today. But, you know, the plural version of that, because multiple scumbags are doing horrific things. We also have some updates in some cases. We are going to talk about the verdict in Delphi, which I gotta just say before I get into it, I am blown away at how split this decision was, not by the jury, but by the public. Before the verdict was read, I was looking at polls on Court TV, different lawyers' channels, all different publications where people were saying, hey, based on the trial and the case that the defense presented and the case that the state presented, what do you think?

What do you think the verdict will be? Guilty, not guilty, hung jury. I was expecting there to be some people who thought not guilty for sure because there is a lot of speculation, even still, that this was not Richard Allen. So I was thinking, okay, maybe it'll be like 70 or 75 percent guilty and the balance will go between not guilty or hung jury. When I tell you it was like 30, 30, 30, you know, more like 33, 33, 33, but like so split, I was kind of not worried, but I was definitely wondering what was going to happen when that verdict came down because it seemed like everywhere I looked people were split. But anyway, I'm getting way, way, way ahead of myself. Let's start with something else.

And this case is going to take us to Washington. And it is, honestly, spooky season isn't over, because it is truly terrifying. So let me tell you what happened here in Washington. At 6.05 p.m. on Halloween night night police were called to a home in Longview Washington and when they arrived the investigators found two injured adults in the home's kitchen there was also blood just everywhere and these adults had very serious injuries obviously hello there was blood everywhere so the EMTs arrived with the police and immediately when they found these adults they tried helping them but they were both very badly injured, and there really wasn't much that they could do to help them. Unfortunately,

their injuries were so bad that they were pronounced dead shortly after the police and the EMTs arrived. Now, the adults were 38-year-old Juan Antonio Alvarado Sainez and 39-year-old Cecilia Robles Ochoa. However, they weren't the only ones who were in the home that evening. In fact, their 11-year-old child was the one who discovered their bodies in the kitchen. That's the person who called 911, their 11-year-old child. But the crazy thing is that the child had absolutely no idea what happened. Now, even though it was Halloween, the child had been home all night. They didn't go out, they didn't go partying, well obviously not, hello they're 11, but like trick-or-treating all of that. So they were taking a short break from doing whatever they were doing

and went to the kitchen to grab a snack or to grab something to eat and that's when they discovered the bodies of their dead parents. But they had no idea what had happened. There was no inkling that there was any sort of break-in or commotion. They had been in their room this whole time, yes, maybe with the door closed, but certainly wouldn't have missed something like that. So what made such a horrific and bloody scene that basically was silent or went undetected? So as the police investigated the scene, they found that Juan had multiple stab wounds to the chest. Cecilia had gunshot and stab wounds to her body. And police found evidence that indicated that there was in fact a pretty big fight that had occurred. They also found evidence

that the couple had been arguing about something. However, the police couldn't determine who exactly started this fight or who the primary aggressor was in this argument. It wasn't clear if Juan attacked Cecilia or if Cecilia attacked Juan, but it was clear that this fight was super intense. But again, despite how intense it was, despite the gunshot, the child didn't hear anything. So imagine that. They're not even having any sort of suspicion that something's going on or that when they walk into the kitchen, they could find something. Everything's quiet. They think it's a normal night. And then they walk into the kitchen and find their two dead parents. So as police continue to investigate, they ended up discovering that the

gun that was used to shoot Cecilia was from Juan's employer. Right now, it isn't clear where Juan exactly worked, but his employer didn't realize that the gun was missing until after this incident occurred, which to me, honestly, begs the question, did Juan plan on attacking Cecilia? If not, why would he steal a gun from his job? I mean, what else was he planning to do with it? Did he shoot Cecilia, and did she fight back in the moment, and that's why he had the stab wounds? What really went on here? So then the police start interviewing multiple family and friends because they want to see what's going on here. What was the dynamic like? What was this relationship like? And all of them told them that Cecilia and Juan had very serious relationship issues, so much so that they were planning on separating. They all indicated that the couple The sheriff's office is still investigating the crime, and they have ruled out the possibility of a third-party attacker because they don't think that somebody came into the home and attacked Juan or Cecilia. It doesn't seem like anybody else was involved.

It was clear that the fight and the argument apparently was just between them. But I'm guessing that we may never know what exactly happened, what the fight was over, or who started the fight in the first place, because the only two people who know the truth, know who started it, know who instigated it, know what happened, are dead. And now their child has to live without both parents and without all the answers as to what happened here. How did something escalate so quickly? So I'll let you know as we have updates in that case, but it

definitely is a scary one. Now moving over, and I guess it's like in all of these cases I'll say into something else scary. Obviously all of these are scary, but this one it's like in all of these cases, I'll say into something else scary. Obviously, all of these are scary, but this one, it's just, I don't even have the words. So in Duluth, Minnesota on November 7th, 47-year-old Erin Abramson didn't show up for work. She was an environmental engineer, and she was known for being just extremely responsible, loved her job, was always there on time. so not showing up for work was a huge red flag to her co-workers. They immediately just felt like something was wrong, so they decided to trust their gut, and they called the police and asked them to conduct a welfare check. So the police arrived at Erin's home around 2 p.m. When they went inside the home,

they found Erin and her 15-year-old son Jacob. However, they found them not in the way that they were hoping, because Aaron and Jacob were both dead. Each of them had been shot multiple times. Now, the police identified a suspect in this very, very quickly. In fact, it was Jacob's dad and Aaron's ex, 46-year-old Anthony Nephew. It's not clear exactly what led the police to suspecting Anthony, but they did set up surveillance at his home, and that was about one mile away from where Aaron and Jacob lived. Now, speaking of Anthony's home, it was very, very quiet. There wasn't any movement inside from what the police could see

when they set up their surveillance. So because of that, they used a drone to enter the home. But when they did that, they found two more dead bodies. Anthony's second wife, 45-year-old Catherine Ramsland, and their seven-year-old son, Oliver Nephew. And like Aaron and Jacob, both Catherine and Oliver also had been shot. Now, some reports say that Catherine and Anthony were married, while others say that they were divorced by this point. Nevertheless, though, the police continued to search the home, and eventually, when they did, they discovered yet another dead body. Now, this time, it was Anthony himself, and he died from what appeared to be a

self-inflicted gunshot wound. So, police believe that Anthony killed Aaron and Jacob, then killed Kat and Oliver, then turned the gun on himself and took his own life. Now, while the investigators don't know the motive for the crime, they did discover that Anthony had a history of mental illness. In fact, the police had dealt with Anthony before because they had been called to he and Kat's home multiple times in the past. However, it isn't clear why exactly they were called to the home. There are some unconfirmed reports that just two weeks before the murders, police received multiple reports of somebody who matched Anthony's description, wandering around a neighborhood, showing signs of psychosis, walking into homes uninvited,

just something a little bit unsettling and perhaps indicative that maybe there was something going on with the mental health at play. Also, in 2021, Anthony wrote an article for the Duluth News on with the mental health at play. Also in 2021, Anthony wrote an article for the Duluth News Tribune about mental health, and in that article he wrote, more mental health practitioners are needed because most Americans deny that they have mental health struggles. Because they have to, because they're told to, or because they don't realize that their mind is broken. They keep pushing forward, incurring one psychic injury after another, trauma after trauma, collecting interest, until finally it overloads and they suffer a breakdown.

For most of us, that's the best end result. For millions of Americans, a breakdown leads to suicide, or homicide before suicide. A pretty detailed and kind of foreshadowing article, right? Now, that same year, Kat and Anthony had set up a GoFundMe account asking for help funding Anthony's mental health treatment. He had a history of alcohol-induced psychosis, and in the GoFundMe description, Anthony wrote, at the start of this year in 2021, I made the decision to stop drinking and stay sober. After two years of heavy drinking, I tried to quit cold turkey on my own without medical support. This then led to an episode of alcoholic psychosis, and I was hospitalized for nearly a month.

While hospitalized, I was advised to attend a treatment center, which I did and successfully completed. I am now nearly a year sober, and while I have met that personal goal, I and my family are now left with a medical bill that will take us years to pay off. My family needed help to get me sober, and now we need help getting out of debt. In treatment, we talked a lot about shame and how it can prevent you from reaching out for help. I am ashamed and asking for help. Now, I don't know how successful that GoFundMe ended up becoming, but he was looking for assistance financially. Now, Kat was an artist and also taught at Lake Superior College. She taught karate in her spare time. She enjoyed watching anime.

Their son Oliver was a happy kid who was frequently seen outside in the neighborhood walking his dogs or playing with friends. And last year, even though he was only six years old, Oliver helped create a free toy library for his neighborhood. You know how people have like those book libraries where you drop a book, leave a book, take a book? It was this but for toys. So it was a place where people could leave their unused toys so that children who didn't have any could access them. And it's just really sad because the family of three just seemed very normal and happy to all of their neighbors and to the public. Now Jacob, the other older boy who was killed, was in high school and was involved in orchestra. Aside from being an engineer, his mom Erin was an active community member who loved to run and also helped start a running group called

Moms Run This Town. The group had been gathering to run in the morning for years now, and Erin always arrived on time with a smile on her face. Today's run was really difficult because, you know, you feel the loss of a close person that almost feels like family. Katie Benziger is part of the Moms Run This Town group that has been gathering for morning runs in the Twin Ports for years. But this morning, they were without an original member many say is the happiest person they've seen at 5 a.m. Erin was one of the first friends a lot of us made when we moved to Duluth and joined the running group. Erin Abramson and her son Jacob Nephew were two of the four victims. I think we are all just heartbroken and shocked by the situation and the news that we found out about this morning and just cannot imagine what that was like for them.

Two mothers and their sons. Life will go on through her memories and all of us showing up in the morning in the dark with a big smile like Erin always would. According to DPD, just a few hours later but just five minutes away, Katherine nephew and all of her nephew were found dead with the father Anthony nephew who had shot himself. Shocking. It's devastating. It's heartbreaking. It's not something that we hear of here in Dunfeld neighborhood. Nikki Widdat lives in the neighborhood and saw the mother and son together a lot, adding to Oliver's free toy library. That's kind of devastating in itself. That was just

something that you know kind of brought the neighborhood just a little bit of joy. The toy library now being repurposed by the community, turning it into a vigil for Oliver and his mom. You know, walking past the box is just going to be, it's going to be different now. It's going to feel empty. A community still trying to make sense of the senseless, but making sure those lost won't be forgotten. It definitely has left a hole in all of our hearts and just feel like we've lost a sister. So the police are still investigating the murders and they're trying to piece together what exactly happened what led to this was this mental

health was he killing everybody before killing himself was there possibly still debt that needed to pay off that he himself vocalized he was ashamed of was it psychosis did he snap what is going on here i don't know but i'm gonna keep is going on here? I don't know, but I'm going to keep my eye on it. Now, I don't know if you guys can tell, but I'm still a little bit hoarse, still recovering from whatever this sickness is. I don't know if it's a cold or bronchitis or what, but my kids bring home germs like glue at school now in the fall. So I'm going to go grab some water. Now, let's talk about a vacation gone wrong now, because whenever you go on vacation, if you're like me, you expect to relax, de-stress, just chill, take some time for yourself. You also expect that at the end of the vacation, whenever that is, you go home. But unfortunately, for 31-year-old Mackenzie Michalski, that was not the case. After going on vacation to Hungary, Kenzie never returned home. Now, Kenzie was originally from New York, and she worked as a nurse practitioner in Portland, Oregon. She was a very frequent and experienced world traveler. She went to Budapest with a friend. This was going to be an amazing trip for them. They had a great time together, too. On November 4th, though, her friend left Budapest and decided to go to Italy. Kenzie stayed behind. She wasn't going to go to Italy,

and she was expected to fly home the very next day. However, Kenzie never boarded her plane. Then, her friends became extremely worried after one of the friends received a phone call from the Airbnb host where Kenzie had stayed in Budapest. The host said that Kenzie never checked out and that she left all of her things inside the home. Kenzie's friends last heard from her at 12.45 a.m. on November 5th. She told them that she was at a bar near her Airbnb. So now, naturally, after hearing from the Airbnb host all those details, Kenzie's friends became very concerned because they hadn't heard from Kenzie for hours.

And all of this was totally out of character for Kenzie. She would never have just left her stuff at the Airbnb and just gone back home and left everything behind. Plus, she was always in contact with her friends and her family. So because of all this, her friends decided to contact the U.S. Embassy in Budapest. They reported Kenzie as missing. In turn, the embassy contacted the local police. So the police started searching for Kenzie as missing. In turn, the embassy contacted the local police. So the police started searching for Kenzie, and they initially discovered that she was last seen at around 10 p.m. on November 4th in the Jewish quarter of Budapest. And while the police were searching, Kenzie's friends and family started a Facebook page and a GoFundMe to help

bring awareness to her disappearance. On the GoFundMe page, they wrote that Kenzie was quote, likely in danger. Her father is pleading to the community for help as her daughter is now missing in Budapest, Hungary. Now, Kenzie Michalski was last seen over 48 hours ago. After missing her flight back to the U.S., her loved ones are now calling on the community to help share her photo in hopes of finding her. Tonight, two of Kenzie's friends sat down with me to help get the message out as they detail what lengths are being taken to find the Western New York native. We know that 1245 a.m. she was at least at Simpla or at least leaving or, you know, doing something.

So something around that point in time is the last time we've seen her or heard from her. Brooke Adams and Mary Eustace are trying to piece together the disappearance of their longtime friend Mackenzie Machowski. I'm told the Fredonia native traveled to Europe for a friend's birthday. She went with her friend Gretchen for her birthday and they actually did a little Europe trip and that was the last place they went from Austria to then Budapest. And then from there, she actually dropped Gretchen off at the airport around 3 p.m. so she could go to Italy, meet up other friends. Gretchen is a mutual friend who now lives in Italy. Adams tells me that Gretchen had called her around noon Tuesday to let her know that their Airbnb host had been trying to reach out to her and Kenzie, who was last seen in Budapest. She said, hey, the Airbnb people just

called me. Like they said, your stuff's still here. What's going on? Why are you not out? And at that point, we're like, what do you mean? She said, hey, it's still here. So we knew Kenzie didn't come back and get her stuff and she would never leave it, knowing that she had then had a flight later. Now a search party has begun involving the U.S. Embassy in Hungary, Budapest police, Kenzie's family and friends in the States and abroad, and her boyfriend, who is now en route to Budapest to try and find her himself. The Damon University alum's last known whereabouts are at a bar where this plant photo was taken. We love going there, so we love to frequent the ruin bars and immerse ourselves in the culture and go around like the jewish quarter that's where um she was last known to be they've even created a timeline of events for investigators after doing their own digging trying to figure out where their

dear friend has vanished to mackenzie is so responsible um she's very responsible she wants whatever we let check out of an airbnb she has all her dicks in a row it has to be clean yeah we have a checklist she would never she would has all her things in a row. It has to be clean. Yeah, we have a checklist. She would never miss a flight. In a city they've gotten to know so well. And the people are really friendly there. Yeah. Buffalo is the city of good neighbors.

It is so friendly. Adams and Eustace tells me that they aren't playing the waiting game. They're planning on booking their flights to Hungary as soon as they can to try and search for Kenzie. As the police continued to search for Kenzie, they eventually found surveillance footage that showed her at several nightclubs on the night of November 4th, all the way into the early morning hours of November 5th. However, in this footage, Kenzie wasn't alone. She was seen with the same man at every single club. Now, obviously, this was insanely suspicious, right? So, police went to work trying to figure out who this man was. And then finally, on November 8th, the Budapest police

announced that they had identified who this man was. He was a 37-year-old Irish citizen. His name hasn't been released, but his initials are MLT. He was later found and he was arrested outside of an apartment complex. The Budapest police said that MLT admitted to killing Kenzie, but he claimed that it was all just a horrible accident. Apparently, MLT and Kenzie met at a club that night and then they went to multiple clubs together afterward. After all of that, MLT took her back to his apartment. He said that they had sex and that during sex, he accidentally killed her. Which I gotta say, this is something that murderers claim so often. Whether it's true or not, I couldn't tell you. But I have heard so many times sex gone wrong, that that was the cause, that it was all an

accident, and then they panicked and that was the cleanup that it was all an accident and then they panicked and that was the cleanup and look it could very well happen right I think that it does happen because if you're having very intense very aggressive very passionate sex if there's choking involved or things like that I could understand especially if everybody's intoxicated where maybe your senses aren't fully in tune and it goes too far that's why i think there always should be a safe word if that's something you practice whatever it is even if it's not bdsm you know just aggressive sex however i also think that we hear this as an excuse all the time we were having sex that especially for strangulation cases right it just got too like it

was an accident it got too serious i didn't know this. So, I don't know if there's truth to this or not. Maybe, but let me continue, and then you tell me. So, MLT said that after accidentally killing Kenzie, he decided to put her body in a cabinet. He then cleaned up his entire apartment to cover his tracks. He went out and bought a suitcase, and then he put Kenzie's body in the suitcase, rented a car, and drove over 90 miles to a nearby lake where he dumped the suitcase out. So now that he was cooperating and confessing with the police, he also led the police to where Kenzie's body was. Police also found multiple searches on MLT's phone and his computer, and the searches were about how to get rid of a dead body. He looked up if pigs would eat a dead body, that if there were wild boars at the

lake where he dumped Kenzie, if Budapest police were good at finding missing people. He also had multiple searches about the smell of a decomposing body and how to cover it up, which, again, maybe you're in panic mode, but if this truly was an accident, you're really going through a lot of steps trying to cover it up. Like wild boars? I don't know. Maybe that's a popular animal in Budapest? I don't know, but like it just seems a little intense to me. Now as you can imagine, Kenzie's family and friends are completely distraught and devastated, and they have confirmed that the body found was in fact Kenzie. They released a statement which said,

Kenzie will forever be remembered as a beautiful and compassionate young woman who dedicated herself to caring for others and making the world a better place. As a nurse practitioner, Kenzie used her humor, positivity, and limitless empathy to help heal her patients and encourage family and friends alike. We are thankful that Kenzie's soul is now at peace. Her memory and legacy will endure in the hearts of all whom she's touched. To understand Kenzie's spirit is to wholeheartedly embrace the vast joy and wonder of life. Her wish for the world is to fully embrace the present moment, be your authentic self, practice kindness, and always walk in the light. Described as a person full of life, like a ray of sunshine. Yeah, yeah.

Crystal Suar Renzo talks about the life of her best friend she lost forever. Kenzie is a, like, very, very pure-hearted person. Very pure-hearted. It's absolutely senseless. 31-year-old Kenzie Machalski was on vacation in Hungary, a country she had been to before. Very, very adventurous and brave. She has been everywhere. She's been around the world many times over, and she was always wanting more. Before she left, she texted Crystal a simple message. Her last text was, I'll see you when I get back. And I was like, yay, okay.

Like, star eye emoji. You really never expect that it's going to hit you so closely. Yeah, she was a really, really, really pure soul. So while Renzo now only has the memories and lots of photos of the two together from their lifelong friendship to hold on to. I feel like she takes with her a history of mine and of ours that, you know, I'll never give that back. And I'll, yeah, I'll really miss the reminiscing. Michalski was a nurse at Providence St. Vincent in the neurocritical care unit. The hospital writes, those who worked with her and

knew her best say Kenzie was kind and loving, a great friend and a valued caregiver who lived out our Providence mission and values in her daily life. Okay, now this next story that we're going to get into is just really another warning as if we needed another one about the dangers of the internet and the true evil that is like lurking around on the web. So just for a moment, imagine hiring a photographer, getting photos taken, only to then be really upset with the final result. You might leave a bad Google review or Yelp review, maybe post something on social media, or maybe you even ask for your money back.

But the last thing that you would ever resort to in all of that behavior, and I'm just gonna say it, and I don't mean any digs at Karens, but in any of that like Karen behavior of reviews and complaints and all that, the last thing that most people would do is resort to murder, right?

Well, unfortunately, 35-year-old Siobhan Tyler is not most of us. In Sanford, Florida, Savon hired a photographer, a 34-year-old girl named Lauren Martin. Some reports say that these two women were friends, and it's unclear why Savon hired Ashley or what the pictures were for. But apparently, in the end result, Savon wasn't happy. She didn't like the pictures. So Zavon went online to social media and she started making comments about how unhappy she was by working with Ashley and by the product she received. In turn, Ashley responded and the two of them kind of just started arguing, going back and forth with each other. They would post things to Facebook or they would randomly start live streaming and

telling their side of the story. And it really blew up into this like truly huge internet ordeal. Take a listen. All of that slandering, big bullying people, you don't scare me. You don't move me. You don't scare me. I'm a boy I want to go at. I'm talking about very, very just so unbothered anywhere. So you're just doing all this for some clout and for some sales. I really hope you sell out tonight, mama. But then Ashley decided to take a step further and take the fight off social media. On the evening of Tuesday, November 5th, Ashley started live streaming on her Facebook page. She kept saying that she was going to, quote, beat someone.

Girlfriend, I would hate to have to turn this little blue app up. Okay? I would hate to have to do that. She kept saying that she was going to, quote, beat someone. of a mud hole in your ass and see the thing is i'm not gonna call you to no film i'm gonna knock on the door i'm gonna wait outside the gate for somebody to let me in and i'm gonna drive to your motherfucking residence knock knock come outside please stop fucking playing with me okay please stop playing with me see because my ball is big enough to do it don't play with me but keep me out your mentions i don't have with me. See? Because my ball is big enough to do it. Don't play with me. But keep me out of your mentions. I don't want to have that as a competition again. I don't want to have to come back again.

I highly doubt I'm going to come back again. But if I do, it will be me going live in front of your doorstep. It will be me outside your door. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello, mate. That will be what it is, because I'm telling you, I'm really about that life. Quit fucking playing with me. So eventually, Ashley drove to Siobhan's

home, and when she arrived, Siobhan's girlfriend, Lakevia Pringle, started live streaming on her Facebook page. In this live stream video, Siobhan exited her home holding a miniature baseball bat and a gun. She approached Ashley and set the gun on the ground before the two of them started to physically fight one another. All the while, the girlfriend is still live streaming and is verbally encouraging her girlfriend to continue beating Ashley up. Savon also tried to hit Ashley with the bat, but Ashley caught it. This then prompted Savon to pick up the gun and shoot Ashley. Ain't no police coming on none of that. She don't brought her goofy all over to this goddamn girl house gonna get beat up

Police were eventually called, and when they arrived, they found Ashley lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but she eventually was pronounced dead. Shortly after the police arrived, Siobhan was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree homicide. Her girlfriend initially was not cooperating with the police, and because of that, they issued a warrant for her arrest. But a few days later, she turned herself in and was arrested and charged with principal in the first degree to first-degree premeditated homicide. Siobhan has entered a not guilty plea, and she's being held without bond. Her girlfriend is being held without bond as well, but has yet to enter a plea. So we'll see what happens.

But it always blows my mind how arguments and fights can escalate over something so minor, right? Like, okay, I get it. Maybe ask for a refund if you don't like your pictures. Maybe leave a bad review. Or like these people who get into internet fights back and forth over whatever reason and like all that and then it turns physical. I just like, I don't know, maybe I'm like a peacemaker, but I'm just like why? Why? Like it always blows my mind how things can escalate so quickly. Now let's talk about the Delphi murder updates because a verdict was finally reached in the Delphi murder trial. This was after 17 days of testimony. The jury started deliberation on Thursday, November

7th, and they ended up deliberating for a total of 19 hours. Now, as I said, as this deliberation carried on through the weekend and then the week started back up, a lot of people were saying they don't think that Richard Allen is guilty or that the state did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. I'll be honest, I wasn't in the courtroom and we did not send somebody to Delphi as we had planned. So I have some friends who are there who have been keeping tabs on the trial and updating me as it's been going on and I've watched things here and there, but I can't say definitively whether or not I believe the state proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt just because I didn't

follow it closely enough. But a lot of people did share that sentiment. They thought that there was still doubt that or that all the way to the fact that he wasn't guilty and that this was somebody else, despite multiple confessions that he made over the course of the years despite the evidence that they had said they found all of these things so when i was looking at all these polls and where people in the public were you know falling um as in terms of where they thought the verdict was going to land i kind of thought to myself when they first announced yesterday that a verdict was in before they even read it i was like i kind of feel like maybe it's going to be not guilty, or maybe it will be a hung jury. Like, even though in my gut, I felt like he is guilty, which I could be wrong, that's just my opinion,

but like, I thought that that was going to be the verdict based on what I was seeing. So, I was completely wrong, because eventually, the jury found Richard Allen guilty, guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder. Now during this, Richard seemed fairly emotionless, but outside the courthouse, a crowd literally burst into applause after the guilty verdict was announced. You could hear, I was watching one of the live streams as it was happening, and it was like a camera that was just set up outside panning on everybody in the public who was there with signs, regardless what side of the court they felt like they stood on, and it just erupted into applause. A Richard sentencing

hearing is set for December 20th, and he could be sentenced up to 130 years in prison. Now, a gag order is still in place preventing family members, law enforcement, prosecutors, and defense attorneys from speaking to the public. However, there is information that has been leaking out because, like I said, a lot of people went to court, a lot of YouTubers, podcasters went to the court, they watched the trial, so a lot of information has been slipping out, but nothing in a big public way from like the key players involved in this trial. The victim's families, of course, cried while the verdict was read, and I believe they likely will speak at his sentencing, but we'll have to see. I'm just happy

that these two girls finally, finally are getting the justice that they deserve and that their families can, I don't want to use the word closure, but that maybe their families can have a little bit of peace now. And if you have no idea what I am talking about regarding Delphi, I will link the deep dive for you. But it was two young teen girls who were brutally, savagely murdered while they just were out for a hike one day. It's one of the more gruesome cases that we've ever talked about. And I think it's been, what, a total of seven years now. Yeah. And it has, like, captivated the nation because for years they didn't even have a suspect in this case. It wasn't until just relatively recently in the last couple of years they had a suspect.

And it was a suspect who was unassuming. He worked at the local CVS. He even printed the photos of the flyers for when they had gone missing. So the public had thought it was somebody else the whole time, who I won't name since he hasn't obviously been convicted. So it was like a huge surprise when Richard Allen was arrested. And it's just been one of those cases that the public has been very invested in. Now, let me switch gears to a missing Wisconsin father who likely faked his own death. In Wisconsin, on August 12th, father of three, Ryan Borgwart, was reported missing. He had last talked to his wife on August 11th, the day before. That day, he said he was

going to a lake nearby so that he could go kayaking and fishing. But eventually, the police found his car in an area called Dodge Memorial Park near Green Lake. Shortly after, they found his kayak had capsized in the western part of the lake, an area where the water can reach the depths of 220 feet. So in the days that followed, investigators found Ryan's fishing rod, his tackle box, his wallet, his keys, and his license plate, all in the area surrounding Green Lake. Police suspected that Ryan died while he was out on the lake, that his kayak probably capsized, and he drowned. So for nearly a month, search and rescue teams scoured the lake, but they found nothing. They couldn't find any trace of Ryan. But then finally, in early October, investigators decided that their search needed to go in a different direction.

That's because they had received notice that Canadian law enforcement ran a passport with Ryan's name on it on August 13th, just one day after Ryan was reported missing. So now, pivoting their search in a new direction, police found that Ryan had obtained a new passport shortly before his disappearance. He reported his old passport as stolen or lost, even though investigators later found his old passport at his house, but it definitely did not smell right. Police also found that Ryan had changed the email address that was linked to his bank accounts.

He had even contacted his bank and inquired about moving all of his money to a foreign bank account. He also purchased airline gift cards and a $375,000 life insurance policy in January. Not looking good for buddy boy Ryan, right? So with all of this evidence, police now began to suspect that Ryan intentionally faked his own death and ran away. The life insurance policy seems a little bit random, but I do think it is because he was trying to fake his own death and disappear and ensure that the family would be well taken care of after he, you know, quote, died. I don't know that any of the family members are in on this scheme as well. Who knows? It's possible. We'll see. But it seems like a pretty elaborate plan, right? Not a well-executed one, obviously, but elaborate nonetheless.

So the police think that Ryan ran away intentionally, but they don't think that he landed and stayed in Canada. They think that Ryan is somewhere in Europe. And the reason why is because during their search, they discovered that he met someone online and had been talking extensively with this woman, who is from Uzbekistan. I don't know if I'm saying that right, but I think I am.

It's U-Z-B-E-K-I-S-T-A-N, Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan. Hold on, guys. You know I'm not good at pronouncing countries, so let's just do this. I'm going to do pronounce Uzbekistan. Here we go. That way I don't say it right. Okay. Uzbekistan. Oh, it's Uz. Okay. Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan. Where is that? Hold on. Oh, it's a country in Central Asia. So they had been talking online for quite some time. Then he like goes through this elaborate ploy and plot and planning to disappear and fake his own death and now they think he's living happily ever after

with her in europe but probably not for long because i'm sure they will catch on to him i don't know if they'll get interpool involved or what but take a listen to this press conference a digital digital forensic analyst of a laptop that we were given through the wife, searching that, the disappearance that we have found that he was in some place in Europe. Through that forensic analyst, we recovered that he replaced his hard drive on the laptop. He cleared the browser on the day of his disappearance. He sank the laptop into the cloud on August 11th. He took photos of his passport. He sank the laptop into the cloud on August 11th. He took photos of his passport.

We found out that he moved funds to a foreign bank, changing his email and communication with a woman in Uzbekistan. He took out a $375,000 life insurance policy in January, and he purchased airline cards. Due to these discoveries of the new evidence, we were sure that Ryan was not in our lake. Our investigation has many steps to take. It's a puzzle that we're putting together. We got many pieces, but we got a lot more pieces to find. Our goals are to identify any crimes that have

been committed by any individuals who assisted with this crime, investigations in the aspects of the crime with the assistance of our state and federal international partners. Pursue for expenses and searches funded by the taxpayers. We put in a But Keith put in 28. 28 of them days on that lake searching for Ryan. When he wasn't searching for him, he was looking over data. He was looking over data to figure out if he missed something. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to all the entities that assisted. Our expert divers, our canine cadaver dogs, Norton's dry dock, peerless boat rental, Bayview Motel, Green Lake community. Our community supported us 110%. And the community that Ryan came from supported his family 110%.

Bruce's legacy. I'd like to thank the dedication of my sheriff's office. But most of all, I want to thank the family. I want to thank his wife. That is one strong lady. Whenever we called on her, she always responded and she gave everything that she could for us. I cannot imagine what she's going through and they're going through. It's really hard because one, they felt that their dad was drowned. A day ago, they found out that he wasn't.

There's one last thing I want to do. And this is to Ryan. Ryan, if you are viewing this, I plead that you contact us or contact your family. We understand that things can happen, but there's a family that wants their daddy back. And like, what about his wife and three kids that he left behind? What a complete scumbag, right? To leave your whole family behind and fake your death so that you can go gallivant with this online love interest who might be even catfishing you, bro. It is beyond comprehension. I don't get it i always say it and i swear i think

this is going to be like the new seasonal tagline instead of make it make sense just get a divorce just get a mother effing divorce don't cheat don't lie don't steal don't murder don't fake life insurance policies just get a divorce my man because now you're putting your kids three of your kids through horrific trauma things that they will probably never heal from to where they think that they were abandoned and not good enough that their father had to fake his own death and leave them how do you grapple with that as a kid you know not to mention his wife and i can only imagine how pissed she probably is right now oh my god God, I would be like irate. I'd be like, I mourned this mother effer.

Like what? What a complete scumbag. You could have at least made a bigger policy, my man. Like, ugh, what a piece of crap, right? So I hope they catch this sleazeball and I hope he pays because to do all that to his family is one thing, but also then to waste resources, police resources, law enforcement

resources, all these things as they're searching for him while the community's mourning for him, all while he is, again, just like playing a hooky with his love interest that he met online from a place I can't even pronounce. I can't. I can't. I'm getting wild now, huh? You can tell I'm tired.
