Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, True Crime Besties, welcome back to an all new episode of Serialistly with me, Annie Elise. Today is headline highlights, which means we're going through all the breaking headlines this week. Now as you're probably noticing, we're releasing this on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Headline highlights usually release every Thursday. But the reason we decided to release it a day early is because not only are these cases, of course, so important to talk about, but they are breaking as we speak. So in an effort to stay as up to date
Starting point is 00:00:56 as possible with the information, we wanted to deliver this news to you as quickly as possible. We have got so much to go over and it's gonna probably be on the longer episode length. I'm just gonna warn you right now. We are talking all about the bombshell allegations against Jay-Z that he was not only complicit in some of the diddy stuff, but also he is now being accused
Starting point is 00:01:19 of raping a 13 year old girl. We're gonna be going through the entire full lawsuit, the details where they implicate a woman who was in the room watching. I mean, it's horrific. So we're gonna go through all of the details of everything we know about Jay-Z. There's also been some updates with the accused assassin
Starting point is 00:01:37 of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. A lot of interesting details and a lot of interesting backstory about this guy, if I'm gonna be honest. So we're gonna go through that. There's also this case that so many of you guys have been requesting me to talk about and you've been tagging me in all of these videos and it's about it's this TikTok situation. People are calling it the Nurse Hannah situation. It is very reminiscent of Ruby Frankie and Jodie Hildebrandt in a way. We have just got so, so much to talk about. So let's actually start with that story now.
Starting point is 00:02:09 So again, this is about a TikTok nurse who is now facing child abuse allegations. And when Ruby Frankie and Jodie Hildebrandt were arrested for a child abuse, I feel like it shocked a lot of people, but for others, it really wasn't a surprise at all. Ruby had built her social media presence around sharing her family's life, and over the years viewers were pointing out a ton of
Starting point is 00:02:30 different red flags along the way. Red flags particularly that hinted at potential abuse, and this was long before her arrest ever even happened. So now some are starting to wonder if Hannah Hyatt, a Utah-based TikToker, might be following a similar path. Now, Hannah, who is commonly referred to as Nurse Hannah, recently went viral after she posted a video that raised a lot of concern about her treatment of her children. Now, I'm going to describe this video in case you haven't seen it. So in this video, Hannah, her husband, and their two-year-old son are in a grocery store. The two-year-old is sitting there in the cart, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:08 the top of the cart where their legs are sticking through, and the dad goes and grabs something from the freezer section, then walks back toward the cart. As the dad gets closer to the little boy, the boy flinches and then quickly brings his hands to cover his face in what looks to be a defensive position. So this clip immediately sparked a lot of controversy online. Many viewers interpreted this little boy's reaction as a sign that maybe he has been hit before, in the past, arguing, you know, that kids usually don't flinch like that unless there's a reason. Other parents even started posting their own videos to try and prove that his reaction was not normal.
Starting point is 00:03:45 They filmed themselves bringing their hands near their kids face showing that their kids did not flinch in that same way. Therefore the little boy and his reaction was concerning. So Hannah posted a response to the backlash saying that her son's reaction was because her son and her husband are always quote playing and trying to scare one another. Take a listen. The fact that even have to address this right now is kind of insane. Social media is just, it's a scary place. And I never understood people that much when they said they couldn't share their
Starting point is 00:04:19 kids faces online or they couldn't share much about their kids. I didn't really understand it, but it's crazy. If you were to know me in real life, this whole lazy husband thing, it's sad time. My husband is the sweetest, nicest, kindest, most loving, most nurturing father in the entire world. He is playing on the ground with James like 90% of the day. If that man is not laughing, having fun,
Starting point is 00:04:48 teasing him, playing with him, whatever it is, then I don't know, then something's wrong because that those two have the strongest bond, there's the strongest father-son bond that I know of anyone else. It makes me really sad that social media has turned it into something or me, maybe it's, I don't... Maybe it's... It makes me sad that I've... I guess I've turned it into something... Like that. I don't know. In the video that you guys are all freaking out about, um...
Starting point is 00:05:17 They're just playing. They're always playing. They're always playing Where they scare each other. James is obsessed with dinosaurs and bears and when they look away and they come back and they scare each other and they and they play like when they throw something like they'll play throw it you know like psych them out you know and they flinch and whatever like that's what that's what they're always doing they're always like hiding behind couches and jumping out each other and chasing chasing each other on the house and up the stairs and down the stairs and tackling each other. They're always playing constantly to the point where like if I'm trying to talk to my and chasing each other on the house and up the stairs and down the stairs and tackling each other. Always playing. Constantly.
Starting point is 00:05:46 To the point where like, if I'm trying to talk to my husband I can't because he's always playing with my son. Nothing... Nothing's going on. From the moment that my husband wakes up in the morning, to the second he goes to bed, he is only thinking about our children and our family and what's best for us And there's never that's never not on his mind He is constantly thinking about his children their futures what it's like now how to be the best father You can't believe everything you see on social media. You just can't I promise and I
Starting point is 00:06:19 When I promise this I I'm serious And the thing is going on, You know, I don't really owe anyone an explanation. I could just be like everybody else, and when stuff like this happens, I could just keep quiet. And I thought about keeping quiet, just kind of letting it blow over. But I thought, I don't want that... I don't even want the thought of that out there. I don't want anyone to suspect anything, that anyone could be questioned whatsoever. That me or my husband, that we do not love our children, that we do not treat them with anything other than love.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Like, it's crazy. There's nothing... There's nothing going on. Stop it. There's nothing going on. It's happening. So this response of course sparked controversy. People were wondering if her explanation was a good one, did she seem genuine in the video? But then, as the internet will do, people started digging into the past videos that Hannah posted. And when they did, they found a video where she talked about the controversial ways that she parents, one of them being that she thinks spanking her child is helpful for them in the long run.
Starting point is 00:07:30 My mom's an 18 month old and I'm sorry but a pat on the bum doesn't hurt them, it helps them in the long run. Now to many people, this right here clearly explained why her child was flinching. Could it be that you know a little quote, pat on the bum was actually much more than that? And since this video, like I said, people have been finding more and more content from Hannah that is just equally, if I'm honest, as concerning. Hannah also gave birth to a second child a few months ago and one of her first viral moments was when she posted a video saying that she hadn't seen a doctor even though at that point she had been 25
Starting point is 00:08:05 weeks pregnant. I'm 25 weeks pregnant or so. Haven't been to the doctor one single time, so I don't really know. So yeah, literally could be having twins. Don't even know it. Also, I don't really plan on going to the doctor anytime soon. I just honestly don't feel like it's that necessary when you're pregnant. Now, you guys might think I'm crazy.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Oh, you're a nurse and you don't go to the doctor. Oh, you're a nurse and you're anti-doctor. I'm not anti-doctor I just don't think it's that necessary. Like I feel fine babies growing. I trust my body to grow a baby Like what do you think they did back in like? 1920 you think they're going to the doctor like 10 15 times while they were pregnant No last time when I was pregnant with my son, I didn't go to the doctor until it's about 25 weeks That time it was because of like insurance problems, but I think I just learned that it's not that necessary.
Starting point is 00:08:47 My symptoms are manageable. I don't really get that sick and I trust my body to know how to grow baby. Now look, I'll be honest. Everyone approaches pregnancy in their own way and each journey is unique to whatever, you know, whoever the individual is. However, people found it odd that this woman
Starting point is 00:09:04 who happens to be a nurse, by the way, chose not to seek healthcare for her unborn child. This also raised concerns about potential risks, like undetected genetic conditions or other health issues that could go unnoticed without proper medical care. Then, after Hannah gave birth to her child, she posted a video when she was about one month postpartum.
Starting point is 00:09:24 And in this video Hannah goes around and starts picking up all of these dirty diapers in her house. Let's pick up all the dirty diapers I have laying around my house right now. I kid you not my guess is probably 15. I don't want a diaper paler, a diaper genie or whatever they're called. They just kind of get thrown around my house and then we just collect them in a bag at the end of the day and take them out to the dumpster. So I've been solo parenting for the last 24 hours so we're going to see how many dirty diapers we have just lying around with two kids. I promise you I'm not even exaggerating this has only been 24 hours. So I'm counting just four diapers right here on the coffee table. Found another one right behind the couch.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Oh found two more. So so far that's what? Seven diapers I'm pretty sure. That's just down here like in the kitchen living room area let's go upstairs I already know this is gonna be so bad okay so right away I'm seeing one two three diapers that's eight nine ten diapers and into the bedroom this is the corner of what my side of the bed looks like at night. It's embarrassing, I know. We've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I think if I counted right, that's 17 diapers lying around my house. No wonder my house is going to stink right now. Now, people on the internet will always find a reason to troll. Whether it's right, wrong, they're always gonna find a reason. So a lot of people were really concerned about her having 17 diapers just lying around on the floor, especially since she also had a crawling two-year-old who could easily get into them. People were suggesting that it seemed very unsanitary, the whole thing kind of left people with concern, and I
Starting point is 00:11:28 understand why it would leave people a little bit grossed out, but also at the same time playing Deadpool's advocate, I have been there with a newborn and a two-and-a-half three-year-old, and if you're overwhelmed and if there's a lot going on, I could understand how like you can't get everything to everything at any given moment, and you can't keep everything to everything at any given moment and you can't keep things 100% clean all the time. And with that being said a lot of people in the comments were quick to remind everyone that Hannah was postpartum, that it can be a very difficult time, your hormones are going wild,
Starting point is 00:11:57 you're trying to adjust with life with a newborn, and honestly sometimes things like cleaning do take a backseat just so that you can you know survive the day. However, the controversy just continued. Hannah has shared a bunch of videos about how she and her husband budget their money, what they spend on, what they skip, how they save. She even has given tips for eating out on a budget, like setting a strict limit for each meal, skipping sodas, skipping desserts, and then packing the leftovers to take home. Nothing out of the ordinary seems really normal. Everybody's budgeting, especially when groceries are a kajillion dollars these days.
Starting point is 00:12:29 However, what's not normal and what a lot of people are taking issue with is that in some of these videos, Hannah and her husband are sitting at a restaurant, each with a full plate, a full meal in front of them, while their two-year-old son has nothing. He's just sitting there watching them eat. And in one video the boy reaches for one of the french fries and Hannah's husband just flicks his little hand away. In another video Hannah and her husband are eating a meal inside their car and once again their son has nothing to eat. And it's obvious that he's hungry in this video but instead of giving him a full meal, they just offer him a tiny bite of theirs, telling him that that's all he gets before he takes a nap.
Starting point is 00:13:10 So in another video, the little boy asks Hannah to share her drink with him, but when she says no, he seems confused and says, you can't share water? So people quickly started to speculate that their idea of saving money when dining out might just be skipping full meals for their child altogether. And it left many people wondering if this was really about budgeting or if maybe this was a signal that there was some sort of neglect happening of their son's basic needs. Now I will go on to say that in that video of them in the car, not only do they say, you know, that's all you're getting until you take a nap but they almost say or allude to you shouldn't eat before a nap when in my experience at least and every kid's different but
Starting point is 00:13:51 Kids tend to sleep better when they have a full stomach But a lot of people were taking issue and things got even more confusing when Hannah posted a video where she said she didn't want to Spend $35 on a winter jacket for her son. And this was right after she mentioned that it was only 8 degrees outside, cold enough that a water bottle had frozen in her car, yet she didn't want to spend $35 on a winter jacket for her son. Take a listen. It feels like 8 degrees.
Starting point is 00:14:20 And we're venturing out of the house with two kids because I am stupid this is how cold the car is this is literally rock-frickin solid it turned winter in like point two days and this kid doesn't have a big jacket so I need to find him a big jacket I'm sorry but I can't spend $35 on a toddler jacket so naturally people started pointing out some inconsistencies here. They found videos of her spending nearly $20 on a sandwich just for herself, or dropping $1500 on hunting gear for her husband. But when it came time to buying a simple $35 jacket for her 2 year old son when it was
Starting point is 00:14:58 freezing cold outside, that was apparently too much. So you can really go on and on with all the concerning things in her video and dissect them every single video that is. I mean, in one, her son touches a hot waffle maker that she placed at the edge of the counter. In another, he falls to the floor from a chair and Hannah just seemed annoyed with him in both of those instances rather than concerned.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And all of these have raised so many red flags that a lot of people started contacting CPS, especially after that video of her son flinching in the grocery store went viral. So if she was willing to post such troubling content online, people were wondering what was really happening behind closed doors. Now this week, People magazine reported that the Ogden, Utah Police Department where Hannah lives does have an open active investigation into her. A detective has been assigned to the case,
Starting point is 00:15:50 but there haven't been any details released about the investigation. Some people were saying that Hannah was arrested. However, those rumors were false. Now, since all of this has happened, Hannah has disabled comments on her TikTok. She has also stopped posting videos altogether. However, she still has been sharing content on her YouTube channel. So we'll
Starting point is 00:16:09 see what comes with this. Is it just, you know, people on the internet going too far and reading into every little thing? Or is there something bigger at play here? Like I said, ever since the Jodie Hildebrandt and Ruby Frankie thing happened last year, I think people are much more quick to have a keen eye and pay attention and report things. But does that mean that sometimes you're looking too closely and making something out of nothing? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Now let's move into this next story. And this is a difficult one to hear for sure. But on Wednesday, December 4th, a man opened fire inside a elementary school called Feather River Adventist School in Northern California. Breaking news from Northern California at this hour. We have learned of a shooting at an elementary school in Butte County.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Reports an adult firing shots at students, at least two students, raced to the hospital. ABC's Melissa Adam with late reporting now from California. Tonight, authorities say a man is dead after opening fire on children at an elementary school in Butte County, California. Shots fired. 27 Cox Lane between Highway 70 and Stinson Road. The calls to police coming around 1 p.m. authorities racing to the scene. At the Feather River School of Seventh-day Adventist in Palermo, California, about 10 miles outside Oroville, officials say two students were shot and wounded, rushed to the hospital. One of them had to be airlifted.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Authorities finding the suspected shooter near the playground, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The small school of some 35 students put on lockdown. The children taken to a nearby church to reunite with their families. David, we're told that the FBI is now investigating this situation. And also there is at this point, no known connection between that suspect and the school.
Starting point is 00:18:02 The Guvman was 56 year old Glenn Linton and right before opening fire he had taken an uber to this school and he actually met with the principal to discuss enrolling his grandson at this school. However it speculated that that meeting was just a way for Glenn to gain access to the school. It was all a ruse and according to school administrators the meeting was very normal. Glenn was polite nothing seemed out of the normal. However, shortly after the meeting ended, gunshots were heard and Glenn shot two students outside of a classroom.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Six-year-old Roman Mendez was shot twice and five-year-old Elias Wolford was shot once. Then Glenn turned the gun on himself and he took his own life. Other students at the school were kept in the school's gym until the buses arrived and then transported them to a nearby church. The boys were immediately taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. They are still alive, but both of them are in critical condition and as you can imagine, the community is trying to deal with what happened. Lifted up by hundreds. The hope here is healing. And it really does mean a lot to all of us.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Tawny Preisner is Elias's aunt. It's a miracle that he survived. A little five-year-old gets shot with a nine millimeter and survive is a miracle. Tawny's brother is Elias's dad. She says he hasn't been back to work, so he can stay by his son's side. As a parent, you would feel like, hey, this is a private school. It's, you know, it's
Starting point is 00:19:30 secluded. My kids are going to be safe there. And, you know, finding he took an Uber to be dropped off there and his full intentions were to cause destruction is just unbelievable. She says the story is one you might see on the news, but she never thought it would happen to her family in a place where she grew up. For someone to go into a school with the intention of killing kids is, I mean, it's something that you just can't wrap your head around and there's no words. There's absolutely no words for it. Now let's talk about the gunman.
Starting point is 00:20:11 The gunman, Glenn, apparently had a lot of mental health issues and a very long and lengthy criminal history. He had been charged with things like theft, fraud, forgery, all starting back in the 90s. And in 2003, he was charged with identity theft and he ended up being sentenced to eight years in prison for that. He was again convicted of identity theft in 2015 and again in 2016. In 2020, he was arrested and charged with burglary in San Francisco and he made a court appearance for those charges on November 21st, just weeks before this shooting. At the hearing, he pled not guilty, he was released on bond, and a family member court appearance for those charges on November 21st, just weeks before the shooting.
Starting point is 00:20:45 At the hearing, he pled not guilty, he was released on bond, and a family member picked him up and brought him back to where he lived in Sacramento. So when the police searched Glenn's home, they found that he had multiple internet searches related to guns, to other explosives, to a lot of disturbing things, and it was quite clear that he was planning some sort of attack using these weapons. They also found information that indicated that he targeted the school because it was religious, and that he also had plans to have a similar meeting
Starting point is 00:21:14 with a principal at a different school nearby, and that the attack was all in response to the US's involvement in the Middle East. I mean, who opens fire on a kindergarten class and an elementary school? I don't know the answer to that. A monster is all I can think about, but I'm thankful that at this point those boys have survived and I don't know my heart is just it's really heavy. It's really scary. The school system is so so scary. Now let's talk about the United Health Care update
Starting point is 00:21:43 and what's going on here because it seems like more information has been trickling in day by day. But now even more information has come out regarding the shooting of the United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson. Since the shooting, multiple images of the suspected gunman have been circulating online and the images are from various security cameras all around New York City. They show the man in a dark jacket, a hoodie, a face mask. And because of the face mask, the majority of his face was obscured aside from his dark eyes and dark, thick eyebrows. However, there was one image of him
Starting point is 00:22:15 with the mask pulled down. And this image started circulating. And in fact, it went viral. And it showed a young white male with a sharp nose and a very wide smile. And this image went pretty viral immediately and there were a lot of look-alikes to this guy too, so like not to make light of it, but on TikTok so many people who looked like him were making like spoof videos almost like their parents yelling at them saying you can't wear that jacket out of the
Starting point is 00:22:41 house put that backpack off like don't wear your hood up like all of these things because these then strangers who were not related were being accused of being this guy because there was such a close resemblance. Now in everything it was also revealed that the police suspected that the gunman arrived in NYC in late November and then arrived on a bus which originally left from Atlanta. However it isn't clear if he actually got on the bus in Atlanta or if he got on in another city that was along the bus route. Who really knows? They don't know yet. But the police also suspected that he was staying at a hostel in the Upper West Side under a fake name and that he left New York City on a Greyhound bus right after the shooting.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Now it was reported that at the crime scene, police found bullet casings that were engraved with the words deny, defend, and depose. It's suspected that these words are a reference to a book that was published in 2010 titled Delay, Deny, Defend. Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It. The book claims that delay, deny, and defend are tactics that healthcare insurance companies purposefully use to avoid paying insurance claims.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Police also found a water bottle and a cell phone at the scene, which they believe belonged to the suspect. They also found a backpack that was dumped in Central Park that matched the one that the gunman was wearing in the CCTV footage. The backpack didn't have a gun in it like the police had hoped, but it had a Tommy Hill figure jacket and a bunch of Monopoly money inside, like the board game money. Super weird, right? It's obviously a very strange thing to have in your backpack, especially after committing a crime like this.
Starting point is 00:24:14 However, crime analysts believe that the suspect did this so that they could play games with the police and that they may have done this for some sort of political messaging about wealthy individuals and this economy, as though only wealthy can pay for health care and for things like that and don't need the claims to go through. And what are they supposed to pay with? Monopoly money? Things like that. So in a surprising turn of events, this Monday, the police detained a 26-year-old man in connection with the shooting, and this man's name is Luigi Maggioni. So Luigi was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania after getting off a Greyhound bus
Starting point is 00:24:50 and going into a McDonald's nearby. There, a customer actually thought that he looked a lot like the suspect in the photos that the police released, and they notified a McDonald's employee who then called the police. When he was arrested, he had multiple fake IDs in his possession,
Starting point is 00:25:04 including one which matched the name of the suspect that was used at the hostel on the Upper West Side. He also had a 3D printed gun silencer. He had what was referred to as a ghost gun, which is just a homemade gun. And this ghost gun was also a 3D printed gun that was capable of shooting the same type of bullets that were found at the crime scene.
Starting point is 00:25:24 And he also had a three-page handwritten manifesto where he was criticizing the health insurance industry and corporate America. Apparently he also had $8,000 in cash, $2,000 in foreign currency, his passport, and a Faraday bag. And a Faraday bag is a bag which you can put electronic devices into, and then the bag blocks any electromagnetic signals from entering or exiting the devices. So it's supposed to prevent from data stealing and from hacking. Luigi appeared in court in Pennsylvania, and when discussing bail, the prosecution brought
Starting point is 00:25:57 up these items—the money, the passport, the bag—and they argued that it seemed like he was trying to flee. However, Luigi, who stayed relatively stoic throughout this entire hearing, said that the money was planted, that he didn't know how it got there, and that the bag wasn't a Faraday bag, it was just a waterproof bag.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Now let's talk about Luigi, because Luigi was born and raised in Maryland, and he had a pretty nice upbringing. In 2016, he graduated as the valedictorian from a very prestigious prep school in Baltimore. I believe it was like $40,000 a year to go to that high school. His family is very wealthy. They have a very prominent real estate business in the area too, and so he certainly had a nice upbringing. Then in 2020, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor and master's
Starting point is 00:26:45 degree in computer science, also a minor in mathematics. His last known address was in Honolulu, Hawaii, and he has no criminal history and he was never even a suspect until his arrest in Pennsylvania. So at a court hearing, he mentioned that he had worked as a data engineer for three years up until a year ago. He also said that he has no drug or mental health problems. His family has released a statement saying that they are completely shocked by what he has been alleged of doing.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Many of his friends have also come out saying that they just can't believe it. To them, he was always friendly, sociable, and, well, normal. Now Luigi has a fairly prominent online presence. He has a Goodreads account, which is now private, where he posted about the hundreds of books that he's read. And he also posted a really good review for a book that was like tied to the Unabomber. He posted quite frequently also on X, formerly known as Twitter, all until this summer when then his post just suddenly stopped.
Starting point is 00:27:42 This fall, a few friends of his posted concerning statements on his profile, wondering where he went, since he just stopped posting so suddenly. And one friend posted, "'Nobody has heard from you in months, "'and apparently your family is looking for you.' "'Another posted, I don't know if you are okay.'" Now, as people do, they scour the internet,
Starting point is 00:28:02 and people have also found a Reddit account that seems to belong to Luigi., however it hasn't been confirmed. But on this account, the user writes about health issues like back problems, Lyme disease, and brain fog. The user also wrote that they are frustrated because of the lack of understanding from doctors. Which kind of begs the question, if this account really belongs to him, could this be linked to a motive?
Starting point is 00:28:25 Did he have health issues? Did he not receive adequate care? Did he decide to take out his frustrations? I've also heard that he lost two grandparents in the 2010s, and that maybe the motive could have stemmed from that and what those situations were. So right after Luigi's arrest, a YouTube video was uploaded under an account with Luigi's name and the video was titled The Truth and it was very eerie because it began with a countdown and the words if you see this I'm already arrested The video ended with one final message. It said quote all is scheduled be patient buy for now All is scheduled. Be patient. Buy for now. Now, you know that law enforcement like swept in on this, right? So the video has now since been deleted. But many people are convinced that this video is all a part of Luigi's plan, whatever that plan may be.
Starting point is 00:29:16 However, others are saying that the video is a hoax, that it was uploaded by somebody else, which how could he post that video if he was in police custody? Sure, he could have scheduled the upload, but how could he schedule it for the exact moment that he was going to be arrested? Some other people think that Luigi is part of a team, and that this hit was all planned out by more than one person. There are even rumors circulating that Luigi himself told the McDonald's employee to call the police.
Starting point is 00:29:42 However, people are then saying that the cop said that this was all a professional hit. And if it was so professional, why would he do something like get caught, especially in a small town like Pennsylvania with all of this evidence on him? I don't really personally know what to believe. I'm interested to know your thoughts. But the Luigi was denied bail
Starting point is 00:29:59 and he's currently being held in a single cell alone at State Correctional Institution in Huntington, Pennsylvania. He's charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. So like I said, details are breaking every single day and so I will definitely keep you updated as we learn more. If you can tell my voice is a little hoarse I'm still a little bit sick so I'm gonna grab a quick water we're gonna hear from today's sponsor
Starting point is 00:30:31 and then I'm gonna be back to talk to you about another case and everything going on with Jay Z. Is it just me or has TV gotten really complicated? I'm either endlessly searching for my favorite shows, or I'm subscribing to a dozen different streaming services just to make sure that I can watch everything that I love, and I'm not even saving that much money compared to my old cable bill because of all of these subscriptions I've signed up for. But thankfully, Filo has changed all of that for me.
Starting point is 00:31:01 It's one service and all of the stuff that I need. Filo's got current seasons of all of the shows that I can't miss live on networks like A&E, MTV, Discovery, and TLC. They have classics like The Office, Martin and Friends, all these classics which I binge and never get sick of. Plus they have incredible originals on AMC+, from Mad Men to Orphan Black. And don't forget their library of more than 75,000 movies and shows, all of which I can save and rewatch any time for an entire year. So I never miss a minute of shows that I'm obsessed with like Hello Gypsy Rose, Life
Starting point is 00:31:34 After Lockup on Lifetime, or now my new binge The Mean Girl Murders. And best of all, with Filo, you get all of this for just $28 a month. No contracts, no hassles, just one subscription and a world of entertainment. So go to Filo.tv and check it out for a free 7 day trial. That's P-H-I-L-O.TV to start watching. Okay guys, so we're going to get into all the Jay Z stuff in just a minute, but first I want to talk to you about this case that is happening in Indiana. It is so foul, so disturbing, but we have to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:32:12 So in Indiana, two parents were arrested after leaving their two-year-old child to die in a locked closet with a space heater that was turned up to the highest setting. On November 27th, police responded to a 911 call about a hurt child. They arrived at the apartment of 21-year-old Cintia Perez and 23-year-old Jace Hershey. The apartment was filthy, disgusting, foul. Trash was everywhere. There were moldy pots that were in the kitchen. Dishes were piled up in the sink.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Cockroaches were crawling everywhere, dirty diapers were scattered all throughout the apartment. And while they were going through this apartment, police found a two-year-old little girl dead, lying on a soiled mattress in a crib inside a closet. Police noted that this girl's blankets were disgustingly dirty, and that there were feces in the corner of the closet. Now, when they picked the girl up and looked at her, they noticed how warm her body was. And they also noticed that she had discolored spots
Starting point is 00:33:14 on her head, possibly bruises. So the parents told the officers that they put this little girl, this two-year-old little girl, in her crib at about 7 p.m. the previous night. They then said that they put a space heater on in the closet, turning it up to the highest setting, that they closed the door, and that they didn't check on this little girl until 3 p.m. the next day.
Starting point is 00:33:36 That is over 12 hours. You're not checking on her for 20 hours? So of course, not surprisingly, right? They said that when they found her, she was unresponsive and that's what made them call 911. Officers said that there was a notable difference in the temperature between the rest of the apartment and that closet that this little girl was literally kept in, held, you know, trapped in. And an autopsy later showed that her internal body temperature was as high as 109.4 degrees. Now because her internal body temperature was as high as 109.4 degrees.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Now because her internal body temperature was so high, that's what was the cause of her death. The couple was taken into police custody where they remain and they were charged with felony neglect of a dependent resulting in death, which thank God because get this, they had two other children, three and five years old. These kids were absolutely covered in lice, just absolutely filthy, and were taken by the Department of Child Services. I mean it's disgusting that one child had to die in all of this and
Starting point is 00:34:33 their filth and their neglect, but I'm very happy that the other two were saved because God knows what would have happened to them. It is so disgusting and monsters like this deserve not only just to be, you know, put in prison with the key thrown away, but Eye for an eye, right? Lock them in a closet. Trap them in the heat. That's my opinion. Like who does something like that to an innocent two-year-old? Locks them in a closet with a space heater for 20 hours? Are you out of your fucking mind? Sorry. Like it's just insane. Take a deep breath, Annie, okay? Now let's talk about Jay-Z because this is also freaking insane. So we're gonna go through everything.
Starting point is 00:35:12 The lawsuit, the allegations, some interesting social media activity, and make judgments for yourself. As always, this is all alleged. It is just my opinion. It is just based on things that have been published. Do your own research. Come to your own conclusions. Okay, so get this. On Sunday, a civil lawsuit dropped accusing Jay-Z of something truly shocking. He's being accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, all alongside Diddy at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Which, yes, you heard that right. Child sexual abuse, a 13, you heard that right. Child sexual abuse, a 13 year old girl.
Starting point is 00:35:48 These allegations are insane. And the accuser who goes by Jane Doe in the legal documents is claiming that all of this happened at a celebrity after party following the award show. Apparently this lawsuit was originally filed against Diddy back in October. But now as of Sunday, Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter, has also been named in this too. The alleged incident took place on September 7, 2000, after the VMAs at Radio City in New York City. And according to Jane Doe, she managed to convince a limo driver to sneak her into a
Starting point is 00:36:20 private party that was filled with celebrities. Which that's crazy in itself, right? But here's where it gets darker. She says that once she got inside the limo, she was asked to sign a NDA, a non-disclosure agreement. Although she was only 13 years old, she wasn't totally sure what that even was. Then once she got to the party, which she described as wild, full of drug use, including cocaine, a waitress handed her a drink. After drinking it, she started feeling, quote, woozy and lightheaded, and she decided to find a bedroom to lie down.
Starting point is 00:36:52 That is when she claims things took a horrifying turn. According to the lawsuit, both Jay-Z and Diddy, along with an unnamed female celebrity, who is referred to as Celebrity B in these documents, barged into the bedroom. Jane Doe says that she recognized all three of them instantly. Diddy reportedly had a quote crazed look in his eyes. He grabbed her and said to her quote, you're ready to party. She alleges that Jay Z held her down and raped her, followed by Diddy, all while this female celebrity just stood there and watched.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Jane Doe says that she fought back and she managed to surprise Diddy when she was fighting back who, you know, she was fighting back. He hesitated because of this. He like was kind of taken aback and surprised that she was fighting so much. And so because of that, she managed to escape, which that is so terrifying to even imagine, but it also is very reminiscent of the other allegation that that other female had made about how she was inside the room. It was, remember after on FaceTime, she said that like she knew he was responsible for
Starting point is 00:37:55 two pox death and that's in one of my previous episodes on the Diddy stuff. But she says that she was trapped in a bedroom and then she managed to escape too. But here's where it gets like a gray area and really questionable and what has a lot of people talking. People are wondering who is Celebrity B? Who is that female who was complicit and just watched this all go down? Based on the timeline, since it was the year 2000, some people are speculating that it could be somebody like Kim Porter.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Some people are also speculating that it could be Beyonce because that Porter. Some people are also speculating that it could be Beyonce because that's apparently the year that she met Jay-Z. However, nothing has been confirmed. That's all speculation. I just want to be clear. Now this lawsuit makes Jay-Z the first big name that has been named besides Diddy to at all be directly accused in this storm of lawsuits that have been filed against Diddy. We've all been wondering who's the first name that's going to drop? Will the names ever drop or are we gonna get Epstein where no names are ever dropped? And there has been a lot of speculation that Jay-Z was involved in all this but he never was officially named until now and now his name is the first one. Both men have
Starting point is 00:39:00 denied all of the allegations but the accusations are obviously pretty heavy. Now Jay-Z even issued a statement and he's definitely not holding back. He called the lawsuit a blackmail attempt and he slammed the lawyer Tony Busby who he says sent him a demand letter trying to get him to settle. So Jay-Z was like no way this makes me want to expose you even more. He even went so far as to challenge the accuser to file a criminal charge if the allegations are true, saying that anybody who would do something like that deserves to be locked up. He also in a statement mentioned how heartbreaking it is for his family, especially since his oldest
Starting point is 00:39:35 daughter is at an age where her friends might see the news and start asking questions, which I can't even imagine how that conversation would go. But let me read you his exact statement because it is pretty bold and it has a lot of people on both sides of the fence. So let me just read it. My lawyer received a blackmail attempt called a demand letter from a quote lawyer named Tony Busby.
Starting point is 00:39:56 What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me wanna settle. No, sir, it had the opposite effect. It made me want to expose you for the fraud that you are in a very public fashion. So no, I will not give you one red penny. These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint,
Starting point is 00:40:15 not a civil one. Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away. Wouldn't you agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case. This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these types of theatrics. I have no idea how you come to be such a deplorable human, Mr. Busby, but I promise you
Starting point is 00:40:36 I have seen your kind many times over. I'm more than prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a Marine? Marines are known for their valor. You have neither honor nor dignity. My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these crimes, and we will have to explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age.
Starting point is 00:41:05 It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit. My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit. You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all quote celebrities are the
Starting point is 00:41:26 same. I'm not from your world. I'm a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn. We don't play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children. You seem to exploit people for your personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, physics will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me
Starting point is 00:41:47 That if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am So obviously a very Powerful and bold statement, right? I mean digging his heels in which if you're innocent I understand why but a lot of people are kind of like whoa Whoa, whoa, you had that way too prepared way too quick And like you're also not like talking really about the victim in all of this and which her experience was you're talking more about yourself But to each their own, you know, if I was being accused of something like that, I was innocent
Starting point is 00:42:18 I would probably have a very bold statement as well. But then there's Tony Busby the lawyer who's also not backing down So in response to you know, the military digs that Jay-Z gave, he posted this old photo of himself in a military uniform, basically saying that he's been through worse and that he won't let anyone scare his clients into silence. He's claiming that he's going to keep pushing forward because in his words, sunlight is the best disinfectant, and I am quite certain the sun is coming. He also used a caption on the photo saying that he had faced a quote
Starting point is 00:42:50 coordinated and aggressive effort to stop him from bringing the case forward, saying quote, I won't allow anyone to scare my clients into silence. But here's where it gets really wild. Beyonce's mom, Tina Knowles, accidentally, or maybe not so accidentally, liked an Instagram post about the allegations. It was a post from ABC7 Chicago with the headline, JZ Named in Lawsuit Alleging Rape of Girl 13 Years Old.
Starting point is 00:43:19 And so because she liked this post, people are freaking out over it. Some people are saying that it might have been a mistake, while others think that maybe Beyonce's mom Tina might not like Jay-Z because of all that cheating scandal that went down with Beyonce. Remember like the cheating, the Becky with the good hair, the elevator incident where her sister was like wailing on him, all of these things. So who really knows? But as if all of this wasn't enough singer. MIA also has jumped into this conversation
Starting point is 00:43:47 She's the British singer. She's in her 40s now. She had that one like really big hit where I think it was like, yeah Huh? You got high on planes did it dead? I don't I'm singing them Those aren't the words like money planes airplanes paper. No God, I am so musically untalented I'll just hum it. You know, it's like something planes, but okay, whatever. You get what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:44:14 If you don't, you can Google it. Sorry, I thought I would know the words and what to sing, but clearly I don't. So anyway, she's jumped into the conversation as well. And just days before this lawsuit became public, she made a claim in a video that when she first signed with Jay-Z's label, Rock Nation, he told her she needed to get plastic surgery, which can you believe that? She says she refused, but she's implying that the plastic surgery is kind of expected for women who are all around him. And she's not holding back. She's saying that not only is the first thing he told me to do is get plastic surgery, but she said, I'm not insecure because I would have gotten plastic surgery if I
Starting point is 00:44:50 was. She continued saying, so their argument of she's insecure, that's why she needs to effing massage her ego, it fails, it fails, because you turn around and ask what women do you know who hasn't had plastic surgery around Jay-Z? All of them have. I'm the only one who didn't, which already proves the fact that it's not insecurity." So basically, and I know that was kind of hard to follow, but in a nutshell she's saying all the women who are around Jay-Z, whether they were signed to his label or in his personal life, she's alleging that they've all had to undergo procedures to look a certain way to, you know, whatever, to, I guess that's it, look a certain way.
Starting point is 00:45:26 And that she never would, even though he told her she needed to get plastic surgery, she refused. Then they, I guess, were slandering her, apparently saying she's super insecure, all these things. And she's like, uh, no, if I was insecure, I would have gotten the plastic surgery, like, look around. But it's just like, again, kind of trying to now expose who Jay-Z really is and what he's really like. Which honestly kind of trying to now expose who Jay-Z really is and what he's really like.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Which honestly, this whole thing is just explosive. I mean, the allegations, the speculation, the responses, there is just so much to unpack. And it's hard to know where this is going to go, but it's definitely not going away anytime soon. And like I said, this made Jay-Z the first celebrity to be named alongside Diddy in the one of the many myriad of lawsuits that have been filed against Diddy. Both rappers have denied all allegations, but do your own research, form your own conclusions,
Starting point is 00:46:14 and we will be following this closely. My guess, and I could be wrong, I thought that we probably wouldn't ever really see many names, especially until we got to the trial, but my guess is now that we've seen one, I think the floodgates are going to open. I think we're going to either hear more names or I think we're going to get a lot more allegations, a lot more details, and I think the bandaid has now been ripped off. And I don't know what kind of dark secrets and moldy grossness is in the wound that we are uncovering, but I don't think it's going to be good. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:46:45 And I'm curious to know what you guys think. I know we ran a little bit longer today, but there was a lot to go over guys.
