Hey, welcome on the podcast, folks.
Another bonus update from the convoy.
This is a new one.
I'm sitting just outside Maidstone doing the show from the vehicle as we chase down the convoy tonight.
So here we go.
We got Jake Moore Butter and his two sons sitting on the east side of Winnipeg.
And they're going to give us a little bit of an update on what's going on.
And hopefully by tomorrow we'll be caught up.
we'll be able to see firsthand and maybe get a walk around and some different drivers and their
takes and everything else.
I've got to give a huge shout out to Crude Master Transport.
We're deckled up.
They hooked us up with a gas card pain for the fuel to take us out there and back.
And I mean, Heath and Tracy and family, Spencer, you guys just keep putting us, putting one foot forward
and helping us do what we do here.
And to my sister who's sitting across me right now, and she's.
She's had to be a trooper because in the podcast world, maybe at night here we'll get to drive some.
It's been stop, go, stop, go, stop, go.
But I appreciate her hopping along for the journey as we try and give you guys some info on and updates on what's going on as the trucks head today towards Canora and then obviously on to Ottawa here throughout the week.
So without further ado, let's get on to Jake, Mortimer, and his two sons.
Welcome to the Sean Newman podcast tonight.
I'm joined on another bonus edition, special edition by Jake Moorebutter.
How's it going tonight, sir?
Amazing.
Amazing.
You know, these have been probably the best couple days of my life, to be honest.
I can't believe the crowd and the electricity.
It feels like the country's alive right now.
Where boats are you at?
I'm just on the outskirts of Winnipeg here.
We got into Winnipeg earlier, and it was about.
backed right up and by the time we got around the convoy got back together on the east side and
took off and we had quite the exit party from Winnipeg.
So how many, what do you mean? You had quite the exit party. What do you mean?
I don't know. I can't even explain it to you. I'll have to show you the video and even the
video doesn't do it justice. As you're leaving, there's vehicles and cars and people dancing on
the side of the road and they had a huge Canadian flag hung by a crane and people all over in
the middle of the road and you just couldn't imagine you wouldn't believe how many people us
had been out today minus 40 leather today and you know from one border of manitoba to the other
you couldn't go more than two miles without seeing a group of people cheering us on it's uh i think a lot
of people it's restoring their faith in our country and giving them a lot of hope well you know i was
talking to my wife today and that's what i said you know that everything seems so divided lately and
and seeing all this just reminded me that, you know what, this is Canada and these are Canadians.
And, you know, I've seen more Canadian flags the last two days and I have in my entire life.
Yeah, I can share that sentiment.
I think the last true patriotic Canadian moment I had was watching the Olympics in 2014.
I've said that multiple times over the last day or so.
but watching what's going on across Canada
has really made me proud of the place I live again.
Yeah, absolutely.
And even I got my two kids with me.
I brought my 9-year-old, my 7-year-old along.
We're getting homeschooled this year.
So I figured this would be a good history lesson for them.
And, you know, it really warms my heart,
seeing them wave their Canadian flags out the window and celebrate.
And, you know, it was something we were losing hold of.
And, you know, for this to happen,
this happened at just the right moment.
The country really needed it.
So how old are your kids that?
nine and seven say hi guys
Torin is nine and Nixon is seven
so are the kids having fun
you guys having fun
has it been exciting
besides the point in the car yeah
yeah besides sitting in the car all day but
you know we took lots of breaks today and got out this stretch
it's it goes pretty good and then
it gets backed up as soon as you hit a city that has traffic life
and the convoy really backs up.
I'm not even sure how long it is, to be honest.
I heard over 100 kilometers,
but I've never seen the beginning
and I've never seen the end,
so I'm not sure.
How about the people you guys have been coming across?
I know you mentioned people everywhere.
I was talking to guys last night,
and just the, you know,
everybody's smiling, waving flags,
giving food out.
I had pictures seen from Brandon
where it looked like,
You could have fed an army from the stuff that was being thrown in the vehicles.
Have you guys experienced the same thing with the people?
Oh, man.
Like I said, it's the most Canadian thing you've ever been involved with.
Everywhere you go, you like, you mean, you can't stop it.
Like, you know, the checkpoints or the meeting point.
There's, you know, there's ladies handing out cookies and apple pies and sandwiches.
And every time you stop someone throws a bottle of water, gatorate or egg salad sandwich
street your window.
That's cool, man.
What's been from day two of marching away from Lloyd, that's where you started.
What's been maybe one of the highlights here in day two?
Highlights in day two.
You know what?
We got up early this morning.
Convoy left at seven.
We got up.
We hit the flying jay.
We were up at about 5 o'clock this morning, me and the boys.
And at 7.30 this morning, it was minus 40 with the wind show.
It was miserable.
And from 7.30 in the morning, there was people lined up on that highway every mile.
Like, just you couldn't go more than a minute or two without seeing another group of people cheering you on.
And when you'd see their faces, their eyebrows were frozen, their mustaches were frozen.
But it didn't affect anybody.
Like, the energy of what was going on was keeping them warm.
Like, they were just dancing and the Giverner, I guess, the only word to describe it.
And one of the biggest thing that stood out to me today was the second.
support from the hutterites through matatoba uh they were probably 75% of the crowd from one end
to the other there was bands of hutterites and they were celebrating and handing out food and they were
everywhere and like i couldn't believe it massive support that's awesome um where you guys are
finishing in canora tonight is that correct yeah yep yep you betcha and maybe is there anything
if there's people ahead of you um that are
waiting for the convoy to come through. Is there anything to let them know or, you know, like,
I don't know. I'm assuming there's going to be people, tons of people listening back home,
looking for updates, looking for if there's anything they can do to help support, get the word out,
that type of thing. And then there's going to be people that are, you know, sitting in parts of
Ontario that are waiting for you to come through. Is there anything, anyone should remember
or, you know, I don't know, you're the guy in the middle of it. You know what? This has been the most
organic thing I've ever been involved in.
Like it's been so smooth.
Like leaving,
convoying,
the people,
everybody,
like everybody's out.
Everybody's got signs.
Everybody's happy.
Like,
I don't know what to say.
It's just all the pieces are falling into place.
I mean,
you know,
they didn't have any lights on for any of the scales all the way here.
The police never bothered us once.
I've hardly even seen any cop cards,
other than the ones on the side of the road videotaping us as we drive by.
That's awesome.
You know,
it's just,
it's just,
it's just happening.
I don't know what else to say.
You know, it's funny back here, you know, you hear these stories of the cops
are going to stop you.
The weight scales are open.
They're going to be pulling all the trucks in.
It's pretty good to hear that, you know, they're letting it roll.
They are letting it roll.
Like, we've had zero interference.
Zero interference.
I've been flipped off a couple times, but that's about it.
Ah, well, you never know.
Yeah.
a thousand waves and a couple of birds that sounds pretty Canadian to me yeah yeah yeah
well I've seen about 10 million F trudeau flags and and uh and uh one sign that said just get vaccinated
and stop crying so I think one that said instead of you know when you were talking about let's um the
holiday you know and then those let's go brand and stuff oh yeah I I can a sign on the car that said
And instead of Let's Go, Brandon, they had Brandon crossed out and said Trudeau.
Yeah, let's go Trudeau, yeah.
Get out of here.
Yeah, they had a big, by Brandon, Manitoba.
Someone put a big sign that said, let's go right beside the city sign.
I'll send you a picture of it.
That'd be awesome.
Have you seen any other families doing the convoy, or are you guys kind of an oddity,
you know, father with two sons aboard?
Have you stumbled on anyone else, Jake?
No.
There is some other families for sure.
I've seen lots of kids.
I don't know if they're going the whole distance or if they're just rolling through the towns and stuff with us.
So it's kind of hard to tell.
There's just the volume of vehicles and traffic is just enough.
Canora tonight?
Where are you supposed to make it to tomorrow?
Canora to Thunder Bay.
Thunder Bay to Sue St. Marie the next day.
And then Sue St. Marie to, I can't remember.
It's the town just outside of Ottawa, I believe.
Awesome.
Well, here's the hope and I bump into tomorrow.
How would that be, Jake?
You betcha, buddy.
Yeah, if you guys are on your way, I mean, we'll probably meet up in Thunder Bay one way or another, I guess.
So, yeah, but no, yeah, you should definitely catch up and see it's pretty electric.
And, you know, I wasn't sure we hemmed and hauled.
It was the last minute decision to go.
And it was, I'm zero regrets.
Zero regrets.
That's cool.
We'll drive safe, Godspeed.
And I look forward to actually bumping it into person.
again and shaking your hand and seeing what's going on.
But stay safe tonight and we will see you soon enough.
Awesome. I appreciate it. You guys drive safe.
Okay. We'll talk to you later.
