He's a business owner, concerned citizen, and co-founder of nationwide protest against the
Starting point is 00:05:57 carbon tax. I'm talking about Sam Field. So buckle up. Here we go. Welcome to the Sean Newman podcast today. I'm joined by Sam Field. Sir, thanks for hopping on. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Thanks for having me. Appreciate you. And you're following? I'm going to be honest. I know next to nothing about you. But you had the right lady reach out to me. I've had a couple of ladies. actually a couple right ladies.
Starting point is 00:06:30 You've had multiple people reach out and I'm like, oh, this is interesting. We're talking April 1st. But before we get to that, tell me a little bit about yourself. And what has led you to maybe this point? Well, yeah, the friends that reached out to you, I mean, over the last couple years, my Canada has become very small. I was involved in the Ottawa demonstration and what took place there as a mechanic. I lived on Wellington Street for the duration of it and we stuck around to make sure everybody got fixed up to go home.
Starting point is 00:07:13 And through that, I met some incredible people that were standing beside us doing what we were doing in a professional way. So I'll forever be indebted to them and we support each other. And that's that's the most important thing that everybody needs to know is that there are good people out there and we're willing to help. And to put some genuine faith in humanity again because the division that we're going through is pretty incredible. I reside in the Maritimes now, live in the Annapolis Valley. I lived in British Columbia for 17 years. We unfortunately had some, you know, some hard times during the COVID with our business and we were forced to restructure. So that put us in the Maritimes permanently.
Starting point is 00:08:09 I've recently purchased a repair facility in a two pump gas station, little convenience store, country store sort of deal. The community here desperately needs, needs it. and I've known the previous owners, their family, and it's gone through the community as a real staple to keeping the industry and the farms and the families going here. So what drove me to stand up against this carbon tax is the realization of how hard it is hitting absolutely everybody that comes in to my store and all my family members, the concerned citizens,
Starting point is 00:08:50 across Canada that we've met since Ottawa. Everybody is being affected. Different locations across Canada are definitely being hit a lot harder. The poverty that's in these rural communities, Nova Scotia are. It's a little bit different than maybe the GTA right now. But I'm not there, so I don't know. But I know it's very, very harmful to the longevity of our communities. Something's got to give right now.
Starting point is 00:09:17 the federal government taking a raise the same day that they're taking money out of our pockets, the tax upon a tax. I mean, if anybody's actually, you know, can come up with a reasonable explanation how they've gotten away with that for so long. I would like to engage in that conversation too. But for right now, the extreme cost of living and the reflected rate of pay, we have to give, we the people have to get together and give the Canadians the money back to put it in their pockets so they can at least take care of their, their homes and themselves. And then we can continue to address these other harmful issues around the world. Yeah, I, um, you know, April 1st is, uh, is a funny little day, uh, on this side.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Sam wouldn't know this on this side. It will be two years of full time podcasting for me. So, uh, where it's been my job. up. And so it's like, I don't know why of all days April 1st was the day it landed on, but that is the day. So no April Fool's joke on this side either. That'll be an interesting day. On the same day, you know, I've been talking to Chris Sims and Franco Tarasano from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation now for well over a year, you know, about the April 1st and the, you know, the importance of paying attention to what's going on that day. And then for the MPs to take a raise on the same day is, you know, it kind of feels like folks when they axed Don Cherry on Remembrance Day. You know, if he got an axed on any other day, would we have been upset? Yes, but it's almost
Starting point is 00:10:55 like salt in the wound, making a mockery of it to put it on Remembrance Day, the day he stood for the most. And you go, you're about to raise, the carbon tax will cost 17 cents per liter of gasoline, 21 cents per diesel, 15 cents per cubic meter of natural gas. That's just starting, that's going up on April 1st, right? So you go, you go like, you know, things aren't great right now. We're going to tax people more. I wonder how that's going to go. So you got to, I appreciate people putting their foot for because I've been talking a lot about this. I've been going to go, what do we do? Sam, what are we going to do? Sam, what are we going to do? Well, collectively, as proud Canadians, we're going to stand and we're going to hold the line at our inner provincial borders and buildings of importance and inner passes and wherever you can safely be to be seen. April 1st, there's going to be a lot of traffic on the highway, people traveling and whatnot for the holiday.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Then on the second, you know, people will be back to work and they'll have the conversation. They'll have something respectable to talk about. They're going to see their Canadian people standing in unity against something that we all know doesn't add up. And we have to put the volume back in our municipal buildings and in our federal buildings and our provincial buildings. because we're not being heard. They're not acknowledging the harm right here on our doorstep. We're worried about a lot of other global issues. If they want the continued support abroad,
Starting point is 00:12:42 we have to have something genuine at home to build on and we're chisling away the foundation of our great country. When we're looking at April 1st, You know, here in Lloyd, we're right on the border, right? So, you know, this is how it first presents itself to me, is they're having a protest or protesting or what are you calling this? What is it called? Is it the nationwide protest against the carbon tax.com. And if you, oh, and it's dotCA nationwide.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I'm just going to pull it up. Nationwide protest. What did you say nationwide protest against the carbon tax? that is a mouthful and that is a website holy we do have the the acronym for it you break it all down and that's our rumble address and uh there's also an email attached to that that uh yeah uh whatever we got there and w p a t c t i think at uh pro to p m p m dot m it's all new to me too we're we're trying to i can just imagine okay what do you think we should call the website well do you think anyone's ever taken nationwide protest against the
Starting point is 00:14:00 carbon tax dot caa no probably not nobody nobody everybody's the opposite they want to have like three letters and that and that be it there it is okay here here we go i'm just going to pull it up on screen for everybody that way they can they can they can they can they can see where i'm at um but so here it is um and there's ways to contact etc um and then i was this is what i wanted to see is locations. Because obviously, you know, depending on where you're listening at, we got people listening all across Canada, depending on where you're at, there you can see the different locations. So if I scroll in here a little bit, maybe I can pull it up.
Starting point is 00:14:39 You got Vancouver. You got, what is that? That is Lucerne, BC near Jasper, okay. Near Calgary. It looks like it's heading out to Banff. You got down by Sparward. BC you got medicine hat right on the border you got Lloydminster rate on the border and I don't know how does I always tease Manitoba that they're gonna be they're not
Starting point is 00:15:06 gonna like me but sure I'll all I'll zoom in for you Manitoba here we go we got read on it is Kirkke Kerkkela Manitoba Fleming Saskatchewan right on the border and then I assume out by canora yeah West Hawk Lake one of the things you got to love about Canada is you put any vehicles right on that spot. Right there. I'm going to scroll in on it. I used to drive this all the time. The border between Manitoba and Ontario that connects east to
Starting point is 00:15:32 west, one road. And you know, like you want to cause a little bit of trouble or make a message heard by all of Canada. That right there, folks, is your spot. And it is a good spot. I mean
Starting point is 00:15:48 logistically it is out there. Unfortunately, As you know, Manitoba and the issues with Winnipeg and the struggles that those citizens are facing are real. I've since the pandemic and we lost the business out west, and I got sick off the shot so I wasn't having it anymore. I've driven across Canada seven times just to be. And, you know, every time you pull across there and see the welcome centers boarded up and blocked up and barricaded up. and barricaded up. It doesn't give you that warm, fuzzy feeling that Ontario is actually open for business
Starting point is 00:16:28 because, you know, they're making these commercial transport operators park on the side of the road and they're making them, you know, they're essentially putting them in a harmless way, not providing a, you know, a well-funded facility. So, yes, that is going to be a, that is going to be a great spot. And, you know, if you can't make it to these spots, you, everybody, that is going to chime into these and pay attention to what's going on. They know a spot that they can go and be safely and they can make a real good representation of the pride of Canada and the people that are willing to stand up for the future of our
Starting point is 00:17:10 great land and our children, man. This is what I'm seeing, left, right and center is at the rate that our savings and, you know, the credits increase or the interest rates. are increasing. For people to try and stomach a future for their children, like to have anything left, it's a hard pill to swallow when they're doing the calculations on it. That's why it has to be done right now.
Starting point is 00:17:40 If we wait for any political aspect of it to go through their things, that's far too long. The people will be crippled. So right now is the answer for many of us and is all we have to do is convince the convince the rest of Canada. Why? And like you said, it's already, it's already affecting everybody. So the conversation isn't difficult to have, including with the, you know, the law enforcement
Starting point is 00:18:10 that are going to be present. I'm excited to see them and ask them where the rest of their buddies are because they should be standing right beside us. This is a, this is something that is affecting. all of us and we are not boasting any harm or hate or we're not blockading anything we are you know the more of us that show up right away the least time we have to spend there and we can go back to being productive for our communities and our families and and we can put that money right back in everybody's pocket and then they can do what they see fit they get the discount
Starting point is 00:18:43 instead of selected industries and such i see 12 locations on the map i assume you're in need of things or people or have you got everything and you just need people to show up. Is there, you know, when you're talking to the audience, you're like, listen, if you're, you know, you're interested in helping or you want to show up, is there things you've been telling people so that they know, other than, you know, April 1st, this is where we're going to be, check out the website, which I can put in the show notes. So in the show notes, folks, I'll put the website. That way you can just click on it and go see for yourself.
Starting point is 00:19:17 but is there things you want people to know before april first you know one of the things i always think of with the the freedom convoy was uh how much they preached you know like no violence this isn't this isn't about hurting anyone this is just about making our our voice heard and be seen and and then the you know the donations that came in and everything that just went around it was um quite incredible uh and i i think the spokespeople for the freedom convoy i'm assuming you would agree did a very good job of that when you're sitting in your chair now uh looking at april first which is you know like 11 12 days away um what are you trying to tell people uh do you need things that there's multiple questions there what can you say to them uh sam so we're there there's to be
Starting point is 00:20:05 there's to be no funding for this towards the you know we are all of us that have just decided to get involved on the on the on the on the initiation of of this grassroots movement. It's all voluntary. This whole movement is about keeping the money in the people's pockets of Canada. We need it. We don't need to, we don't need to be spending money. We don't have, although with all, you know, and I know in all people's hearts,
Starting point is 00:20:34 they want to contribute, they want to do what they can do. $20 isn't much to some people or whatever it may be. But if you have something to contribute, right in your, your community, Bristol board, get out there, get involved, go have coffee with somebody you haven't had coffee with that may be, you know, struggling. Share the wealth that way. As far as amenities for the facilities, we are diligently trying to find that many porta-potties. We have plenty of donations of water and as we've experienced the people will take care of themselves. This is It's a one-on-one.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I'm going there as me to be me and exercise my right to stand and acknowledge the harm that's being done. And that's it. So, you know, we've posted in our code of conduct and our mission statement exactly what it is. You know, dress appropriate. Bring the gear you can. If you can, if you're planning on being there for months on end, if you think that's how long this is going to take, then, you know, you have to be. You have to be responsible for yourself and your own actions. Dress accordingly.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Bring the right gear. However, you can calculate it to do it. So you succeed as well. A lot of people, we don't want anybody to go further in debt. We do want to make a presence. It does have to be now our window for being able to stand up against these sort of things as the people of Canada and make our voice be heard is dwindling. So if we can rally together now to build the confidence in the communities and in the families again to have these conversations, that's the win for us. And that's worth more than any money given out, I think.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Speaking of your code of conduct, I just pulled it up real fast. If you're okay, I'll read through it fast. That way people can hear it. The key reminders for demonstrations, act respectfully, act peacefully and respectfully. It says embrace our peaceful approach, conduct demonstrations respectfully, shutting violence and vandalism. Our movement strength is our dignity. Unity and diversity, despite diverse backgrounds, we share a common cause, respect different views, and maintain solidarity. Be irresponsible, representative. You symbolize our community. Your actions impact our collective cause.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Represent us with pride. Stay informed. Avoid confusion by staying updated with factual information from our official channels. Safety first. Priorittois. prioritize personal and others safety, carry necessities, dress appropriately, and adhere to safety protocols. Environmental responsibility. Advocate for the environment while protesting the carbon tax, minimize waste and maintain cleanliness, spread positivity, inspire change through hope and positivity, not fear or anger,
Starting point is 00:23:33 pro messages of constructive change. Don't confront document. In face of opposition, document incidents safely and report them, avoid direct confrontations. And finally, remember the goal. Our mission is to oppose the carbon. tax respectfully and effectively stay focused on our shared objectives. One that sticks out to me, and I just want to make sure that we pointed out, is stay informed.
Starting point is 00:23:54 I think all of them are lovely, I should point out. Stay informed. It says avoid confusion by staying updated with factual information from our official channels. Where are the official channels, Sam, that people can pay attention to? So our Facebook page at Nationwide Protest Against the Carbon Tax, that's the main page to watch. There are subgroups that you can find. on that page for your particular crossing or province. There you can network and you can communicate with other involved members as well as leads
Starting point is 00:24:27 from the area. The website that we just gave you there. Which will be in the show notes, folks. Thank you very much. I'll send you the links to the Rumble page and the Twitter link as well. We have an amazing team that are volunteered. and they're working, you know, with it being Canada-wide, our business clock is on pretty much 24-7.
Starting point is 00:24:51 There's, uh, I can attest as I was testing you probably, texting you probably at midnight last night. And I wasn't realizing that until like late on last night. I'm like, he's probably, uh, I should probably leave him alone. We had a, we had a marvelous meeting last night with, uh, content creators and, uh, and, and, and, and, and passionate people, you know, it was, uh, it was just a, a real good conversation to having it as they do.
Starting point is 00:25:14 they carry on. So I was up until midnight last night and diligently waiting your response, but that's okay. We got that chiseled through. I'll get some sleep after this is all over and, you know, can actually take a deep breath to know that we, Canadians have done something genuine for the entire country, and we did it right now.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Three days, correct? April 1st, second, third? This is going to go on as long as it, It has to, unfortunately. Our goal, like, I would absolutely love to have it acknowledged on day two. And we are approached and we're like, you guys made your point. The people have spoke. We are forced to listen.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Thank you very much for acknowledging that we were getting out of hand. And please feel free to go home and be awesome Canadians again. Is it from a certain time to a certain time on the highway? I'm just wondering logistics. You show up April 1st, 8 a.m., let's just say. Do you stay until dark and leave, or are people staying on the sides of the road safely, I might add, for the duration?
Starting point is 00:26:28 24-7 until it's resolved. We will be occupying the shoulder lane and the slow lane. We'll be maintaining safe passage in the passing lane because it has to be safe. If we're not trying to, we're not trying to harm anybody or just, just, just disrupt you from getting through. We just want you to see that we're there. So it'll be no different than a day of construction. I reached out to our local department of transport and I've applied for, for proper signage and to let them know in plenty of advance that, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:07 there'll be a sign that's flashing locally that says event in progress and everybody can have the proper, uh, proper, yeah, safety protocols in place. And then, because that is the number one thing. We don't, we don't want to see any harm done. That's for sure. That's not the, that's not the mission of our goal or our plan. If you are approaching a spot that looks like it's too full, I guarantee you in the near vicinity,
Starting point is 00:27:36 there's going to be collectives of other people that will be, you know, sharing, sharing the, sharing the, the passion to fight this. And, you know, whether it's parking lots or, or other facilities, and that's, that's what we're requesting. We want you to use your discretion. We want you to be safe. We want you to do what you can do. If you can be there for an hour, if you can be there for a week, you do what you can do. If we can all rally together and get this hammered out right away, like I said, we can go back to business.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I have a farm. I have a business. I have staff. I have a family. I have lots on the go that I don't want to be fighting this. But if I don't focus and if we don't focus on this, all the rest of it's almost a waste. You know, that's, that's, if you can't, if you're going into debt every single hour
Starting point is 00:28:32 you're trying to operate, you got to figure out how, why you're doing it or else you drive yourself crazy. So I couldn't sit by and watch this harm continue to be done to, community in my country because it's not it's not out of nothing this is this was brought across the table as a as a great option and if we can if we can make sure that we get the message across properly like we you know the the reason the the ottawa protests went so well is because we were literally rubbing their face in it they were trying to slander us they were trying to accuse us and at every given second we were just counteracting with our lives,
Starting point is 00:29:13 seeds and our, and our love and really, I feel we made a great, great impact around the world. Um, and our, our legacy media is, as our propaganda's machine has just done nothing but slander us.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Um, so if we can, uh, if we can, can do this without giving them any, uh, any opportunity to, uh,
Starting point is 00:29:37 way the conversation or, or Pegas, out and we aren't, then I think we've got a winning recipe. Well, there's some things going on today, you know, by the time this air is we'll know, right? MPs are supposedly, you know, if I follow, well, I'm following Franco-Oterazano. MPs are supposed to vote on whether or not they're going to cancel the carbon tax today, whether or not that happens. I guess that'll decide on, you know, if it all gets scrapped, folks, I guess April 1st is not needed.
Starting point is 00:30:05 That's what Sam's saying. And you just move on because we're just trying to get it. gone. Here's here's I don't know your thoughts on this, but I would say that it feels like it's when the winds are changing. And I'm wondering if you folks are the people who just push it off the edge, so to speak, because, you know, Franco Tarasano as well, all parties in Nova Scotia legislature voted unanimously against Trudeau's carbon tax. And so that should be a sign of positivity. you got all these provinces against it. Doug Ford on the carbon tax,
Starting point is 00:30:41 don't know what the guy is smoking up there. All it does is gouge people. It's not beneficial. It hurts people. Everything from transporting goods to picking up your kids at a hockey game or sports facility. Now, I know we all have our thoughts on Doug Ford and others, but when you start seeing that being the common thread
Starting point is 00:30:57 coming out of politicians, I would say there's probably a lot of hope. And what you folks are about to do is going to have some genuine impact genuine impact and I think support from politicians because they're looking for the populace to support what they're saying the fact they're saying it they're already getting support on it
Starting point is 00:31:20 and you said something right off the hop I find two things very curious about talking with you Sam one is the fact that this you know in the middle of COVID they tried focusing it on well this this is only this fringe group of people and that's what the story they've stuck to since then, right? And yet, Chris Barber vaccinated, and he led the West convoy, right? And he was just
Starting point is 00:31:45 tired of what was going on and out he went, right? And so, you know, and then they tried saying it was only white people. Oh, my God. Like my brain just hurt from the amount of times they tried labeling it as this is what it is. So I find it really interesting, I think that's a really interesting point. It doesn't matter your background. The carbon tax is hitting us all. And it goes up on April 1st. So it don't, don't matter which side of this political spectrum you're on. If you don't want to pay more money, well, maybe come out April 1st. That'd be one. Two, I also find it, I find it, I don't know, curious, right? Like, you mentioned just briefly, you got sick from the shot, and I don't mean to pull us into your medical history, anything like that. Just that, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:30 one of the things they're probably going to try and label this all over again is it's that fringe minority all coming out and and everything else and they these people don't want rules and on and on and they're against the planet and blah blah blah and i just you know you seem like a pretty reasonable man who's been pushed into a unreasonable position which is you know april first everything's going up and they're giving themselves raises and on and on it goes things are getting worse and nobody seems to be listening uh your thoughts on that yeah you know You're, it gives me, it aggravates me. There's no denying it.
Starting point is 00:33:11 And some people can converse without expressing the rage and the, the, the, the, the acknowledgement of the harm that they have been doing. And to maintain the civil conversation, it's a, it's a tough job. I was, you know, I lost my job. I worked for the province of Nova Scotian doing snow and ice control. You know, I was a essential service for the. the beginning part of it, 12-hour shifts, seven days a week, you know, providing genuinely for your community, making a difference. Everybody goes home. Everybody goes to work safely. That was our
Starting point is 00:33:47 goal. And I, you know, I was hesitant off the get-go. I wasn't putting it all together. I didn't think that the mass vaccination protocol was was necessary. I mean, if you want to genuinely follow the science, you should pay attention to the, to the issues and the history of it all. And anyways, it wasn't adding up for me. So until, you know, we lost the business out west. And I had to, you know, continuously drive by myself across Canada. And my daughter was very upset that I couldn't make it into the arena to watch her play ringette.
Starting point is 00:34:26 And, you know, like, but didn't you take the shot? I did. I did. So I actually, you know, through the stressors, They called me, told me I wouldn't be able to work the winter season without it. They, you know, my wife or my partner, Tamara, she wanted me to make sure that if I broke down on the side of the road, anywhere in between, that I could get into a motel, hotel, I could get into a restaurant. I could jump on a plane potentially, which fortunately enough I never had to because you set yourself up for success. you're not going to embark upon a mission across Canada with either livestock or contents without being prepared.
Starting point is 00:35:07 And so I got on my 40th birthday the day before I got the shot. And I spent that next couple of days very, very ill by myself in a camper. And, you know, I didn't have my family there. I had friends that were very leery of, you know, what was actually going on. They knew I went from super healthy because, you know, we're farmers and I'm a contributor to, you know, they were, they didn't know what was going on. And I was very, very, very upset about it because I missed out on, I missed out on a, you know, I was part of a function that they, they held for me for my, my birthday, but I couldn't, I couldn't
Starting point is 00:35:46 engage. I couldn't, I couldn't really be me. I like to, I like to play music. I love to entertain. And just to really know that all of a sudden, you know, it's like stubbing your toe. you know the mechanism, you know the pain, you know how long it'll last. And here I am, I knew the mechanism, I'm experiencing the pain. And I had no idea what it was going to do. I had no idea how long it was going to last. So am I reading between the lines then so you didn't get the second shot and that's why they wouldn't allow you into anything?
Starting point is 00:36:17 Is that, so I was, I came back home to the Maritimes here and started the Winter Works program. And, you know, I had my route and I was, I was taking care of. the 101 highways, which is, you know, that's a federal road. They were, they were trusting me with that responsibility. And my operational supervisor came in and he handed me a paper and he said, if I couldn't give them the date of my next dose that I was not allowed on the facility. And I explained to him that I had gone to my physician that I saw the day I got home or, you
Starting point is 00:36:52 know, promptly booked the appointment and, you know, our local hospital. I had to go to the urology department and I'm sitting there and they're screening at the door. They weren't going to let me into the hospital. I made it, I made a bit of a spectacle with a little, I know, a senior nurse and she understood. I said, look, man, I got to use the wash from. I got to do it now and this has got to go there. So it's just like, oh, just come over here, honey. And I, and I got aggravated because I never heard back from that.
Starting point is 00:37:21 I never heard any, there was never any answer. and I was removed from the facility and you know there's talk around the camp that the route was fulfilled by somebody that was an outside contractor and nobody knows what their status was
Starting point is 00:37:40 anyways there's many facets that just drive to the ever frustrating hurdles we're overcoming in Canada so that was a big slap to me and then I had a you know we have a farm here in the Maritimes and I had a shop and I got really depressed and I was in in my
Starting point is 00:37:59 grads watching all this come about and then I heard about the the the convoy to Ottawa against the mandate and I you know but I I had to go I I was supported by my household because you know my ideologies and what I was expressing in the community and in in the family there were a lot of it that were really, you know, I think it's a psychosis that the CBC and the global news, everything that the family had been listening to, I was going completely against the grain. And, you know, still to this day, there's some that that don't agree with me and my actions for going there. And others have genuinely warmed up and been like, hey, you know, thanks. you were a part of an amazing thing that really helped pull people out of harm. And that was back then.
Starting point is 00:38:59 There were people that were locked up thinking that they were going mad. And when we all got together there, you know, every time I'd come home, I had to do the two-week isolation by myself or, you know, on the farm. And it was fortunate enough that I had the acreage and the project. to focus on because if somebody was to be locked up in an apartment for two weeks every time they left the province that that's that's that's that's hard on the old emotions right and and it is hard isn't the right word that is insane it is insane um you know and then you know the the the machine work got to the people and it and you know that the the conversation was very difficult you know making my daughter
Starting point is 00:39:42 feel bad for giving me a hug and a kiss the minute i walked through the door because she didn't know if she should get on the bus or she didn't know if she should tell anybody that daddy's home finally and you know whether there any you understand that that i i i um yeah oh i you know um i'll go stretches where i don't talk about what what went on and then just this week i hopped on drew weatherhead's podcast social disorder so if you haven't checked that out folks please go over and do so uh and uh he he i said something about flying with my wife because we went for vacation this year and he stopped me and he's like we got to talk about that for a second and I'm like what? I'm like what are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:40:22 He's like flying. He's like there was a time where we could not fly and I'm like oh yeah. Yeah. Like you kind of almost walk by it now because you know it's past and and yet that was a part of the insanity too. And you know what makes it more insane is he ran that as an election campaign. I'm not going to allow him on a plane, train, you know, like you're like this is this is something. And so when I come back, oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:40:46 To not acknowledge medical exemptions, you know, people that we have people that suffer from asthma. We have all sorts of different type of blood types. We have every kind of, you know, ethnicity here in Canada. How can you bundle us all up to guarantee us that this is the one thing that is the everything? Well, here's the lovely thing about April 1st, right? You know, I, the thing I tried to explain it. Back then, they'd already segregated this into us and them, right? Vaccinated, unvaccinated.
Starting point is 00:41:20 They tried, the media had been ahead of the game on that big time. This one, I don't think, is near the same. I could be wrong, Sam. I guess I'd be curious your thoughts. When I look at it, no matter where you sit on the political spectrum, no matter the color of your skin, no matter the creed you take, on and on it goes, you're getting hit April 1st, all of us in this country, with a carbon tax. Now, I don't know if that works identical for Quebec.
Starting point is 00:41:48 I'm going to put a caveat in there because I'm going to have a few people saying that. But I mean, regardless, for 99%, maybe a little less of our country, I get the stats, folks. And I get the interworkings of a couple of the provinces. But for most of us, it doesn't matter where you sit. It doesn't matter how rich you are. It doesn't matter how poor you are. it doesn't matter where you live, you're getting hit with us. This is going to cost you more money.
Starting point is 00:42:13 It's going to cost more money to heat your house. It's going to, you know, I think we all realize by now, especially when the truckers shut it all down, how do you get your produce? How do you get your gasoline? How do you get all your stuff? It's getting moved by trucks. And all that's getting taxed.
Starting point is 00:42:32 How do we get our food? How the farmers is all getting taxed? And so this is something that's affecting us all. and it isn't just at the pump. This affects every part of our life. Everything is going to go up, April 1st. And it may take a day or two for people to realize. I highly doubt that.
Starting point is 00:42:47 But I think it'll be seen on the pump immediately. And then you're going to start to see it in the grocery store, among other places. And that's one of the lovely things about what you're doing. I think, like, I don't know how anyone can be like, we're not standing with you. We're all getting hammered by attacks that they can't prove does anything. They have no ammunition to be like, well, actually, this is what it's done. No,
Starting point is 00:43:14 you're getting a rebate. That's what, that's what they keep trying. Well, you're not getting taxed that much. No, we're getting taxed that much. And sure, they're trying to give us back some money to try and make us feel all great and good. But I mean, I'd rather just keep my money. That'd be, that'd be nice. Absolutely. They're treating us like children. They think that they know better than we, the tax on a tax, it is theft. I wouldn't dream of doing that to one of my customers. Like, oh, I'm just going to sneak this one in here and, oh, I got away with it once. I got away with it again.
Starting point is 00:43:46 The ripple effect of what they're doing. You know, it might not be super noticeable to a lot. The increase come April 1st, it might take them to April 3rd or 4th to notice the increase. But every single Canadian is going to acknowledge it on the second. and when it's removed because that will hit every single province, including Quebec. Everything that travels has this increase on it. And that'll be a powerful, powerful push towards, you know, a better country, being responsible for your own money. And then we can all acknowledge that, hey, look, we just made history.
Starting point is 00:44:29 This was happening to us. and it was going to continue to happen to us until 2030, $170 per ton is what they're forecasted. Like, who in their right mind thinks that's acceptable when we produce one of the smallest fractions of CO2 emissions on the planet? We have some of the biggest, bestest forests in the world. Like, it's nonsense. We are being driven to formulate these strong decisions. on fallacy. Like,
Starting point is 00:45:02 none of it is adding up. And we have to, we have to acknowledge that, that there is people that know and they have calculated this harm, unfortunately. So if we can hit this one out of the park, focus strictly on abolishing the carbon tax as soon as possible. We,
Starting point is 00:45:20 none of us want to be there for long. We want to be there. We want to stand proud. We want to make a difference right for absolutely, whether you like it or not, we want to help you, like whether you acknowledge of it or not, we want to help. There are people that, you know, it blows my mind that there's, that there is the one or two out there that are, you know, speaking against it.
Starting point is 00:45:45 But our moderators, I never realized until I was paying attention to the room, there's people that are funded heavily to be a disruption in, in these things. And I don't know how they sleep at night, that they, that they want to continue. to steal the food out of the children's mouths and every single thing, whether I'm in the automotive industry. I've been raised in commercial transport. I'm a business owner. I'm a farmer.
Starting point is 00:46:15 Every single thing I do revolves around the internal combustion engine. The fact that I drive a 9B8 Dodge that's completely mechanical and it's the best mileage I have on the farm. It is absolutely an affordable vehicle. to drive. It's better than our SUV and that's supposed to be all that and then some. Well, the proof's in the pudding. The less fuel I put in, the farther I go
Starting point is 00:46:40 down the road, the better it is for everybody. And then I can save that money and put it back into the feed we feed our animals or the feed we feed ourselves because if if we can hit this one out of the park, there's a lot more room for conversation with pride to acknowledge that, you know, they can't do this to the people without understanding
Starting point is 00:47:05 that we are, we can't get slapped across the face repetitiously without asking you to, uh, to step outside and, and we're going to have a, we're going to have a school yard address on this because they're hiding in parliament and they're making these deals in, in, in, in the dark and they're not going through the proper channels. So, you know what? It's time you guys do that for us if if you're around one of the 12 spots the 12 locations on the map and once again folks uh the website will be in the show notes you can click on it you can go to the website you can see what i'm talking about but let's say you know for me sitting in lloyd right um is there contact for each specific location um just to get the general layout of the local
Starting point is 00:47:49 spot uh and and um what is needed that type of thing i know for myself i know who to contact but I'm just wondering for the general population. When it comes to their specific area, how do they find out who to contact and where to go and all that good stuff? Nationwide protests to get carbon tax on the Facebook page. And for those who don't have the Facebook page, there's links on the website for those pages or for the chat forums. And our moderators and our volunteers are monitoring that right away.
Starting point is 00:48:23 It's, you know, as long as it is, it is based strictly on the carbon tax removal, it, you're, you're, you're, we, we notice it. If it's got anything to do with anything else, we're, we're not interested in it right now. We have to stay focused at task at hand. And we, on the website, there's an email associated there. And same thing. our group is working 24-7. So if you don't get an answer for us or from us, just try again because we are volunteers.
Starting point is 00:49:00 We're doing the best we can. But essentially, you're responsible for your own actions and your own involvement. And we're just acknowledging that there is a bunch of us that are going to be in this place at this time. And if you choose to come and stand beside us, we all. April 1st, you show up. you're not leaving until MPs say it's done.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Prime Minister says it's done. Both say it's done. What is the signal to all of Canada? You're like, okay, time to go home. We've accomplished what we want. That will be the time we discuss anything with the media that isn't choosing to help us right now. And the country will get an address from somebody that genuinely has the authority to make the difference and they will give whether it is you know unfortunately i believe our prime minister
Starting point is 00:49:54 does have some some narcissistic uh traits and uh it's going to be it's going to be hard for him to uh what are they say eat crow or you know he i express the the harm in it to the people but hopefully he does and uh if not then then hopefully the the party can come and rally to somebody that is responsible. Not many of us have any, unfortunately, we're losing respect for our parliamentarians right now. So they, their work, I'm sure listening to this and the censorship that I've been under, if they were smart, they'd be working on it right now because the people are interested in
Starting point is 00:50:37 saving themselves and they know that this is actually going to work because it's based on grassroots. It's based on good conversation and respect for one another, regardless of your age, your race, your ethnicity. This is going to benefit you immediately. It's not going to go through the nonsense of the channels. You know what I'm saying? Well, what we're going to do, folks, is I'm going to hold Sam for about five more minutes. I want to make sure that we put out a question on substack. That way, the substack audience, if they don't tune in every episode,
Starting point is 00:51:11 has it. And so if you want to follow us over for the final question, it'll be up on Substack. I want to thank Sam for hopping on and talking about this. And if you're so inclined, hop on over to Substack. We'll have one for there so that if we miss anybody, they know what's coming April 1st.
Starting point is 00:51:31 We'll see you over there. And just can I chime in there for a second? Just one more thing. Like you said, if you can't make it to an interprovincial crossing, like the GTA, northern Ontario, it is very vast. And we want you to know that there are people at those interchanges and at those municipal buildings that they won't be there on April 1st. But you can make a fair representation anywhere.
Starting point is 00:52:01 And as long as you're doing so to the Code of Conduct and with the mission statement in mind, that is perfectly acceptable. Yeah. Well, I think of talk to your community. You probably know where to set up. You probably know how to do it respectfully. This isn't getting a fist fight with the cops. This is sit on the side of the road and try and slow traffic down a little bit to show like, listen, it's April 1st. You're getting tax more.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Every ounce of fuel that goes in your car has just gone up. and that is not because of something happening else where in the world is because of what our government is doing. They are no longer listening to anyone. If that wasn't evident a while back, it certainly should be now as more and more people speaking out about April 1st and trying to raise the alarm of like we, affordability in this country sucks. And maybe we need to stop gouging the population.
Starting point is 00:53:00 100% Sam. We're going to hop over to Substack and please follow us over if you so, box.
