This is Tom Bodrovics.
This is Alex Kraner.
This is Sean Alexander.
This is Tanner Nadegh.
This is Tom Romago.
This is Mokabezergan.
And you're listening to Sean Newman podcast.
Well, welcome to another brother's round table.
Welcome, boys.
Well, let's start here.
I don't know.
I didn't want to win it the way I want it,
but I did pick the right amount of goals on the button at 8.
So another silver coin comes to this guy.
Congratulations.
The reason you got the silver coin is because the power play has left the building.
Or is it, or is it Sergei Bavroffsky doing what Sergei Bavrovsky does?
That's part of it.
You know what the funny thing about Bavrovsky is like in the previous rounds of the playoffs, he was good.
But he wasn't like, and you go, well, that one safe.
Yeah, the one save is.
We all bring out our silver coins to show nobody.
But it not, like if you look at where he was in the first three rounds, he wasn't.
To show ourselves, Charles.
He wasn't.
Like he was good.
but he wasn't he wasn't great
but this series he's been great
yeah I agree but if did you look at
did you watch when you watch the game last night
I mean the last two power plays
the Oilers couldn't even get set up
and that's not Bobroski
yeah like they can't even get set up now
and it seems like what
I would say what Florida's done
is they're really standing up hard
at the blue line so so
if you remember Dallas
Dallas if he could get past
in first two fours the defense went back
and he was able to cross that blue line
dish once in one will make a move
but Florida's putting like three on the blue line
and so McDavid's have a hard time penetrating
yeah but there's other teams
who've done that Jay yeah well
isn't it isn't it sure but they're doing a good job
I mean no no that's what I mean
the coaching on that side to be able
to stop the penetration isn't it the channel
Reeves quick sand from the replacements
you know it just
everything's you're just stuck right now
and everything's snowball if you win
if you win game one right
they played one heck of a game one
But Brofsky outplayed them.
And if they win one, all of a sudden it's a two-one series
and you're just looking at a different...
They went last night.
Not even winning last night.
If they win game one or game three, either way.
Has the Brothers Roundtable ever talked about goaltending here?
Have we?
Yeah, we've talked about goal-tale.
As they sit in the Stanley Cup finals.
And if people can hear in the background,
Shay's got a triathlon today.
So he's in the studio with the brothers.
But can I be fair for a second?
Jay doesn't care.
Do you think if Skinner is replaced by Markstrom?
No, no, no. Let's pick something realistic.
Let's say they'd sign Markstrom there a couple years ago.
So Markstrom's in the Nets right now.
Are the Oilers right now with how the first free game's gone winning this series?
Do you think Skinner's been the problem?
Well, Brovsky's been the problem.
Right, so.
Okay, let's take it back.
Before, before, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
We said coming in.
We, no, no, we said coming in.
And we mean you had this talk.
Because I said I would load up in game one,
and I would go toe-to-to-toe with the Florida Panthers,
because it's an intimidation game and we'll see where it goes.
No, no, no, we're going to go with our fast best lineup.
And I said, if you do that, you got to make sure the power play's going.
And here we said it 0 for 10 down three rips.
No, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait, we said two things.
Did we not say two things?
The power, and for the Oilers to win, their power play has to score,
and they need to get 900 goal tending from Skinner.
So you go, is Skinner the problem?
826.
882, 893, 826.
versus a shutout 947, 914.
They're 0 for 10 on the power play.
We can split our hairs any which way you want.
It isn't over because it's never over until the fat lady sings.
She's warm enough.
She is.
She's got a good team.
I mean, the Cups in the building for game four, right?
Like that's how close it is now.
And you've played okay.
And you go, well, was it Skinner?
Yeah.
Well, if we had Brobrovsky in that, we're probably up three games tonight at this point
because of the way he's played.
Right?
he's played well enough to win.
But there's been a couple things that I don't like.
So the Oilers are coming into this series,
but Braski gets beat up high,
and they're not getting it up high.
Two,
Hyman has scored about 15 goals this year by standing against the post,
which I've actually included into my game now at noon hour.
Right?
You've always included that.
Well, but I'm doing it now that Hyman's shown me how to do it,
so not everybody's trying to shoot for my head.
Have you scored more goals that way?
I haven't noticed you out there,
but I guess that's probably playing D.
Yes, I've been playing me.
Maybe that's what I need to do.
But the last time I played Ford, I actually did score a goal that way.
But anyways, like, so the one thing about Broboski, if you notice, is he comes out hard.
So where's the shot off of a Hyman at the corner of the post on the power play?
Where is the, you know, what they scored last night?
Redirections.
Well, one off a defenseman's out.
Yeah.
One off of a reflection.
And it just seems like that they don't.
In fairness to Jay at Noon, or hockey.
I think he's made one skate in the last month because he's gone on holiday.
day's Calgary Road trip.
Well, no, actually, sorry, guys.
The fishing, the fish.
No, no, no, the fishing was work and Phoenix was work.
Yes.
So, hey, all of us have jobs.
Don't get mad at me because of my job.
I'm going to throw it a shameless plug here.
I'd rather enjoy it.
Maybe if he would have a Kalani coffee cup.
Well, you know, why doesn't Harley have the Kalani Pink Cup?
Yeah, why is that?
Hey?
All of a sudden, oh, can Harley gets a green one?
I'll own it.
So I'm going to, I don't think the oil is one.
No, no.
Okay, wait a second.
Wait a second.
Before we get into the Oilers want enough, the symbolic pink cup for the guy who got deadline.
I got the silver coin, right?
Shouted Silver Gold Bull.
My stack is looking pretty good right there, I'm just saying.
And the pink cup.
Your stack is just looking high because you got a Puck for finally winning a new-hour hockey in the series.
I'll tell you what, if I had Pucks for all the series I win, like there's going through the roof.
Well, maybe we start that.
Maybe that should be the new thing.
Like, I'm just hiding behind my wall of Pucks here right now, right?
Let me make this point.
The Oilers don't want it enough.
And I'll explain why.
Where is Nick Kiprios?
Where's Jason Ross?
Does anybody go to actually link that up and understand what I'm saying?
Were they run over Bobroski?
Yes.
Well, they showed last night, though, like, I mean, Perry sat on him.
They had another guy get pushed and went right over.
Yes, he just ran over him.
He just ran him over.
So you're saying what you're saying is Carrick or Perry should just literally just drive him to the post.
Hey, do you want to win the cup or not?
What are you willing to do in order to win the cup?
Absolutely.
Evan Rane is out.
He'd be one of the guys
stirring the pot.
No, no.
But Corey Perry's the guy
because he's old
and he doesn't skate that well anymore
and he's not going to light up the lamp.
He's the kind of guy he could do it.
Literally without them actually
just going and cross-checking
under the chin into the crossbar.
Like last night, they were all over.
No, no, no.
But you're saying, oh, we accidentally
bumped into him and I go,
Nick Kiprios ran over Grandfure
because he wanted to win the series, so he took him out.
You're not wrong.
I get what you're saying.
The other thought I have,
This is why I'm saying.
Jason Ross would just do it.
You wouldn't even have to tell him.
No, you wouldn't tell them.
I played in a series with Jason Ross in Hillmond, and we were playing two hills, and we're
losing in the playoffs, and the goalie went behind the net, and Jason Ross just ran them over.
Just ran them over.
I remember.
No stop.
I remember Rossco playing with you back in Minor Hawking.
Midwest, wasn't it?
Midwest in Maidstone.
And I vividly remember the first time I ever saw someone run over a goalie, and it was
Roscoe. Was it in front of the net?
I think it was where the goalie came out and he just didn't
stop. He just didn't stop. Like there was no hitch in his
gate. No.
He didn't stop and it's like you kick him out.
Great. Like you kick Corey Perry out.
Is it going to change the Oilers team any?
Well, the other thought I have is
like how badly
do you want to win? It's the Stanley Cup.
I don't have an argument for you there, Duss, because I know what you're saying.
The other point and kind of like
when the Oilers went to the finals
in 06
right.
If Duane Rollsson
is in the net
the entire series,
they probably win the Stanley Cup.
But what are you willing to do
in order to win the Stanley Cup?
So the other...
In fairness, the Oilers at 06,
that was not the forward running over the goalie.
That was Mark Bergeron.
Yeah, fair enough.
Fair enough.
You went that way.
The other way I was looking at it
was when we were playing
against Walberg in the finals
and they had,
I can't remember.
McDonald, didn't that?
And he was playing lights out.
and the only way you're going to score on them
is kind of like their second goal, right?
Off an elbow into the net.
Deflections, stuff like that,
where it's not...
You're not beating them clean.
You're not beating them clean.
And so you either get rid of them
or you start banking it off of shin pads behind the goalie.
You're looking for...
You walk to the middle of the ice.
You have the middle of ice.
You drill the bloody puck.
I know they own shot them last night,
But sometimes they walk to the middle of the ice.
I'm like, shoot the puck.
And then they do that little back to McDavid.
Miss the guy's shin pads.
Shoot the buck.
And if everybody knows that the defenseman is going to be missing shin pads,
you're not trying to aim it at the net.
I'm kind of surprised that Sean hasn't ran while Bill in the first six months.
When he plays for me as Buffalo.
It would be kind of funny, hey?
In about the month of April, Sean throws a flying elbow on the way by.
You know what's funny about that?
Have you all been, I almost ran, I ran them over two games ago.
came in, busted in, ran over him and the net.
So you're not wrong.
And then last game, I stopped just on top of him.
And I said, geez, Bill, I've almost ran you over twice.
Maybe it's in the back of my head.
Maybe it.
What serves it?
One, two, one, I think.
No, I think one, three one, I think.
The subconscious is.
Three one one for us.
For the whites?
For the whites.
The subconscious is a powerful thing.
Sean's subconscious is doing numbers.
I'm doing numbers.
Bill, hey.
Wow, Bill, you just be careful out there.
In saying that,
Well, Black gets back their sixth defensemen today.
In saying that, are you considered one of the six defensemen?
I'm saying the six.
Never mind.
I'm saying the six, girls.
We're continuing on here.
There's only six, so I'm the six.
The one thing I will say as far as the Oilers go is
this is the first game they've actually been able to get a few goals on
Bobrovsky is not impenetrable, right?
So you can take that away.
If they ever get their power play going here,
Like, man, all they need is a goal or two, and then all of a sudden you take the last series.
No, no, but.
Okay.
You got to start somewhere.
Okay.
You got to start somewhere.
Okay.
So going to the oilers dust, you're just throwing in the towel then, that's where we're out.
Okay, okay, okay.
So going into game four, what's your lineup?
It's like everybody's a little pissy this morning or something, man, yelling over each other.
Well, I got drunk last time.
Game four, what's your lineup?
I feel great.
What are we doing?
Is nurse healthy?
I'm going to say no.
I like here's the thing
everybody is
everybody is banged up right now
I know I know but you're talking about
if he can't do the job get metal line
that's right that's what I mean
a month and a half right like you're going into your
possibly final game what's your problem right now
what's your problem goal tendering
so are you starting Picard
are you starting Picard
what do you have to lose
right now you're talking about
getting above 900 you have you know what you have to lose
he's our guy
he's our guy myself but what do you have to
lose at this point. If Picard gets hot and you run the tables and do the unthinkable, right?
What do you have to lose if you start Picard? Nothing. What do you have to lose if you start
Sam Gagne, who's a little bit of an emotional, and he's a skill guy. He's a guy that tips
and pucks on the side of the net. You know what's actually funny about all this is... So who would you take
out for Sam Gagne? Just a...
Um, Corey Perry. So you would pull Perry put Gagne.
Perry last night looked slow, right? Well, he is slow.
Well, that's his problem.
Gagne is a true oiler from way in the back.
And the other thing I would do is when I look at the lines last night,
obviously Hyman, McDavid, and Nudgeon Hopkins aren't lighting it up right now.
So let's switch that up a little bit too.
Let's keep Hyman and McDavid together.
But how about we throw Nuge with Drysidal, balance that out a little bit?
Maybe we got, you know, you got Henrique you can play around there,
but help with Sam Gagne.
Maybe Sam Gagnez slips in there with McDavid and Hyman.
So all you're looking for is just one spark,
Somebody that can just get a little bit going.
And then now you're starting to roll, right?
The world.
You look at that game last night.
All of a sudden they get that one at the start of the third.
And immediately, like.
The ice tilted.
Well, we go back to Dylan Hallaway with Nugent Hopkins and Drycidal.
You know, you got Adam.
And then you got Henrique centering your third line.
If Ivano Kaine's back, throw him with Henrik.
I don't think Kane's back, is he?
Okay.
So then with Henrique, you got Fogel and McLeod.
So all of a sudden you got three lines.
I was shocked.
Nurse was back.
last game. So here's the thing that incredibly skilled players have to learn. And the Oilers have a ton of
them is that you can do your skill thing. And I think Sean's brought this up more than once. You can do
your skill thing all day long. But if you really want to win, you have to play desperate. You have to
be willing to go that extra step, not do the, well, I'm just going to do, you know, no, you actually
have to go get the puck. You have to do the work.
And you saw that in the third period, but they have to do that.
Does Derek Ryan played a game in this series yet?
And he's played one.
See, I think I'm bringing both Derek Ryan and Sam Brangian.
And then leaving the lineup is Perry, and leaving the lineup is...
I probably bring Sam Carrick in, too.
Did he play last night?
But you've got to get rid of somebody.
Like, you're not going to get rid of Fogel.
He scored last night.
McLeod scored last night.
No, you've got to leave the...
Enrique are leaving in, dry sidel.
So you're getting rid of Connor Brown.
Are you getting rid of...
Are you pulling Yan, Marco?
Are you saying, are you changing...
and everything.
Yeah, you lost three games in a row.
You got a three games in a row.
Ryan played last game.
He was minus one.
Okay.
Perry.
I'm leaving Yanmark in.
Newge, McLeod, David,
Yanmark, Hyman, Holloway,
Henry Fogel, Drysettle, Brown.
Is that your bottom guys,
the character didn't play.
The thing that Yanmark does
and why everybody loves him is he goes
balls to the wall all the time and battles.
Like, it's his last shift.
That's what you love about him.
And David and Drysaddle are great,
and at times you see that desperation,
but they have to play like they're going to lose,
which means they have to go absolutely all out.
Here's what I'd say to McDavid and Dry Sadov as coach.
I go, we're going to put four lines out there.
So going back to what I said,
I'm going to throw Gagne up there with Hyman and McDavid.
Sure.
I'm going to throw a hallway with Nugent Hopkins and Drysidal.
I'm going to put a couple guys with Henrique,
and I'm going to run four lines.
And what I'm going to say to them guys is,
we're going to try and keep it close and sneak one out.
This is a hard game for us to win, right?
Because Florida has all the momentum.
So we're just going to run four.
You guys are going to see power play time, but we're going to try and save you so that if we are within a goal with 10 minutes left,
I'm going to throw you out there to go get it.
And that's going to be the strategy.
And then we're going to go with that.
And then if we can win this one, then the toughest game is game five in Florida.
Because you've got to go on enemy territory.
If you win game five, then the enemy territory is Florida.
No, but who cares?
No, no, I get it.
It is the hardest.
But then the stress changes.
And it changes.
And I personally think the hardest game right now to win, obviously is the next one, which is game four.
Game four, but game five.
But no, no, but it's game four.
Everybody in their dog has written them off.
They've written themselves off.
They're 0 for 10 on the power, but their goalie Skinner's in the dumps, right?
Because now everybody's back.
Do we start Picard?
Right?
And it was just last series where he played better than Ottinger, right?
So you sit and you look at game four.
Everybody in their dog is going, the Cups in the building?
Skinner did?
Skinner played better than Ottinger.
He had an over 900's safer center, and Ottinger had in the 800s.
So you look at it and you go, I just go back to the Red Sox, don't let us win one, right?
There's only been one time in history.
A team has come back from 3-0 in the finals, I believe, 1940-something memory serves me correct.
And so you look at it and you go, it's the worst place to be.
It's the toughest game because everybody's written themselves off.
McDavid, no doubt, is sitting there going, what do I got to do to score in Bobrovsky?
And yet if they just win one, you have the great.
player under the sun and the team is good.
We've seen it and everybody's written them off.
They are now the full underdog.
I've been listening to you three talk over each other.
I'm going to get my final thought out here and you go game five, game six, all that.
No, game four.
And you've got to do it on home ice.
Home ice, they're going to be losing their mind.
But if you get down one, the entire crowd is going to be deflated immediately.
So it is a tough building to win in for game four.
Game four is the biggest because if you can just start the pebble running.
If the power play can go one for four and you win the game.
Go ahead, Dustin.
But I want to say I grew a shot.
Wait, wait, wait.
All right, where you go, Dust?
So screw the Boston Red Sox.
Shout out to Joel Budd.
Don't let us win one.
And the reason why that is is because the hardest thing,
you're talking about everybody writing them off.
No, the problem is belief within the Oilers dressing room.
They've written themselves off.
That's what I'm seeing.
They want to believe.
And this is why getting down three nut rip is so hard.
is you have to still believe you can do it,
and it's tough after losing three streets.
But I think you come in with the strategy
where you come into the room and you say,
guys, it's not about winning the series right now.
It's about we're not going to let them hold the cup up here in Emmington.
That's all you worry about.
We're going to win one game.
We're going to shove it down Kachuk's throat
and Braborski's throat,
and we're going to get it back to Florida.
And that's all you worry about because we don't want to let them lift the cup in Emerton,
and then you worry about game five.
So this is why I think...
That's actually a really good strategy for the record.
This is why I actually think game five is the hardest.
Game four, game four.
No, no, no.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
For the record, that complimented to me.
All of a sudden, now I'm the heck guy here, and I got to turn everybody else off.
Wait, wait, he literally, literally throwing it.
Have you actually ever turned someone's mic off?
I'm thinking about it.
It would be kind of funny.
Anyways, go Harles.
Wait.
They've won three games in a row.
You're one game away from winning the cup, so Florida is going to be, you know,
there's going to be a little bit of a letdown because you're so excited you you're you want to try your
best but you're so excited you're nervous you're getting that close you're not going to be sleeping the
best emminton's not going to want to give up the cup in their own barn right so there is some things
that are going for edmonton rate you go back to game five in florida you are not only dealing with
now a different
temperature, right?
Like, you're talking about...
One of the hardest buildings,
if you're playing in Lloyd,
what's the hardest building to play in?
If you're what?
If you're playing in Lloyd,
what's the hardest building to play in?
Archie Miller and minus 40 weather.
Or the Civic Center,
because it is so hot.
Love the Civic Center.
I hated the Civic when I was young,
but I'm getting older.
I'm like,
I'm so excited.
Harley's trying to make a point and we're ruining it.
I'm just saying it's hard when you're going from one climate into another.
You're going into another city's barn.
So you've got their fans against you as well.
Now you've won a game that shock of winning that first game for Florida.
Now it's back to reality.
We've got to go win that game.
And so I think there's a lot of things in that game five that are riding.
Yeah, but we've got to get through game four.
And I think if you're the Florida Panthers, you are eating.
the Oilers lunch right now.
Kachuk is in his heyday.
Barkoff is in his heyday.
I cannot stand Rogers Sportsnet
right now, how the entire Oilers run.
I don't know if I've seen an interview with an oiler.
They've been interviewing Dallas, and then they
started interviewing Florida. I'm like, are we an American
station? This is driving me not. Everything is
in Florida's favor, including Rogers.
And you look at it and you go,
they're going to walk in, and they want to hoist it in
Eminton's building. You don't think
Kachuk, after getting
one and two, it's
emminton and he played against emminton emminton laughed him out of the building how many times as you get
closer to he's he's yeah well it's the fourth it's the fourth game it's the fourth game and elimination
games always the hardest it's not it's subconsciously subconsciously it's not about the mindset of
florida's the mindset of emminton now in fairness to tom loang go in florida
florida fans are like whatever like you're not worried about going into their barn and florida having
this raucous crowd like it's not boston for god's no but you don't have that when they got when they
scored that second goal. Are they even going to sell out the barn? Oh, they'll sell it out
Stenka Pinals. They'll sell it on now. When they scored the second goal,
Sean was talking about the ice tilted. Why did the ice tilt? Because you had the fans
with you now that are helping driving that emotion going for. You do not have that in Florida.
I'm not saying the fans are going to be against you, but you're not getting that emotional burst.
Yes, you are. The difference is the the raucous crowd. Like Eminton is, and I would argue,
any Canadian market, but I would say Colorado, when they went to the finals, their crowd was
nuts too. If you go to Boston, you go to all these places, the problem is the crowd
works for and against you, because they're going to be so tentative in game four, even if they
don't want to be, right? If we, they, they're gripping their sticks. Florida scores first,
you're going to hear that. Oh, here we go again. I can already feel it. How many texts I got
when they were up three one yesterday, then four one, and everybody's just texting, oh, goodbye
Oilers. I'm like, there's still half a game. And then a four three,
So, like, you remember when the owners were down 3-0
and everybody left the building and they came back and won?
Yeah, that was not that game.
Did you leave early?
No, I didn't, no.
You stay, you see the game through.
Are you talking about the Dallas game when they're down 2-0-0?
3-0. No, there was a 3-0.
They were down 3-1.
3-1.
3-1.
It was 3-1.
And then they came back and 1 and over time.
When they were down 2-Rip in the first 5 minutes and they came back in the
No, no, we're talking like this is back in the late 90s.
Where they're down 3-1 with,
under five minutes to go.
I probably didn't leave Sean back then
because I hadn't finished my beer.
And they were talking about
after fans were trying to get back
into the building for overtime
because they tied it at the end of the game
and the doors were locked.
Do they, do they,
I watched the panel with Gretzky
and Bissanet and all them
talk about who's going to win the series.
Grexki, the only guy to pick the others,
everybody else, hands down Florida.
So they've already,
they've already been labeled the underdog
since the Dallas series.
Right?
In this room,
and I even push it to the further population listening.
It's like, do you think the others can win?
Take the series away.
Can they win next game?
Just take away everything else.
They can win next game.
But they will not win the series.
And the reason they can't win the series
is because they put themselves in a position
where now Bobroski only has to steal one,
and he is the type of goalie that can steal one.
And so it will take a living miracle because of Bobroski.
Because forget everything else.
If you get the power play going, great,
you get everything going.
all Bobrosky has to do
one out of four games here
and if he wins this cup
he's in the Hall of Fame
and he is the best Russian goalie right now
ever.
Does he win the Con Smith?
Yes.
Florida is this year
what the Oilers will be
next year.
Yeah, but you've got to get bad.
No, no, no, no, I realize that.
I realize that.
I 100% realize what you're saying.
What I'm saying is Florida made to the finals
last year all the way to the finals
last year and lost.
Right.
And they're a really good team.
They're a really, really, really good team.
They're not losing this series.
They made it all the way to the finals last year
and watched someone else hoist the cup
and then said, you know what?
They're that good of a team
where they made it all the way back to the finals
and they're not losing this time.
So let's do the silver coin.
This might be the last bet.
Probably is the last bet.
We're going to go, how many games are left?
Harles, do you want to pick first or last?
Because you were...
Oh, I'm picking first.
All right, how many games?
You're picking game five?
Game five.
Two second.
Jay.
I'm going to get four.
I guess I go to game six.
And you know what?
Good.
I get game seven.
You know what's funny?
You talk about belief and I go, can they win game four?
And it would be okay to say no.
They're dead.
They're just beaten, right?
That's a fair statement.
They're beat up.
Nurse being hurt.
We all rag on nurse.
But him not playing the rest of that game when he got hurt, it was noticeable.
And he had a bad giveaway last night, I thought.
Yeah.
And I go, that's why I go, how healthy is he?
Because if he's not healthy, you can't play him?
You can't play him?
But I look at it and I go, can they win game four.
If they can win game four, I give two craps about Brovsky.
I give two craps about the rest of that team.
I know they're going to push, but it sees the belief of we can do this.
And it just starts to snowball.
We've seen this.
We have seen this on great teams.
So to me, I look at game four, and if they can win game four,
and they get a shot at game five.
And they go to Florida, and they win game four.
five in Florida, and we've just talked that Florida's
building isn't that tough, and they just go and win a game.
And all of a sudden, you're back
home, and now we've seen this before
the last time we went,
where Carolina came into the raucous Edmonton
Arena for game six, and game
seven, anything can happen, right? The best
player in the world against the best goalie in the world,
let's roll. But you've got to get a game
four, so screw it. Seven games,
let's go, let's make the stack
a touch higher on this side.
Yamah Homer, screw off all you Flames
fans who have been salivating for this
podcast at this point I got to go deal with
twos talking about me lopping my
appendages off. How about
we just worry about the flames
making the playoffs next year, hey?
So I will say this. The reason
why everyone loved the Oilers in the
early 2000s, remember when they played Dallas and
Colorado year after year after year after year and
they lost, but everyone loved that team.
Do you remember why they loved that team?
Because they were a scrappy blue collar team.
They weren't supposed to be there. They weren't
supposed to be there. They had nobody.
And here's the thing is I remember them playing
Dallas, down three rip, and that
Eminton team didn't quit. And that's why
everybody loved that team. In game four, they're
playing Dallas. Dallas is the way better team. Everybody knows it. But that team didn't
quit, and they took him to double overtime in game four and never quit.
And Dallas won because they were the better team and everyone knew it. The others knew it.
The fans knew it. Everybody knew it. Everybody knew it. But they
didn't quit. But they did win one series against Dallas. They did as well.
That was- Marcin got the winner, didn't he? But that's why
everybody loved those teams and cheered for him so hard is because even though they
everyone knew they were the worst team the deck was stacked against them never quit the entire
time they went at them the whole time and even in game four where they knew they're losing the
series they didn't quit and that's that's what i mean so that's where i go back to though if i'm the
coach's orders that's what i'm trying to convince you of is is not hey we let's get it into a better
mindset it's if you're we don't want them to lift the cup and emminton that's it and if i and if i
flip the the other side i go paul marines goes listen we have we have
our foot on their throat right now.
Hardest game to win.
Finish this right now.
Hardest game to win is the last game.
But I'm saying, finish this right now.
That's what I'm saying from Paul Maurice.
Hardest game to wins the last game.
This is not going to get easier.
Meanwhile, they're chirping me about, oh, they're winning game four easy and, you know.
I've been on the end of being up 3-0 and on the opposite end, being down 3-0.
It takes one game and all of a sudden you can just feel it.
And all of a sudden, you get the break instead of, you know, you go back to game two.
Game two is it where they're on the power play,
and they get the flip out,
and it should be a five on three,
they don't get the call,
and everybody stares at that.
It's a big deal.
All of a sudden,
those, you get to bounce off the elbow.
Skinner or Picard starts playing well.
We've seen it from Skinner.
I won't say so Skinner short here.
He outplayed Ottinger,
we all watched it in game five, six.
Six against Dallas,
where they get out shot.
Skinner was the reason we won that game.
So can he find that?
Yeah, but he needs some confidence, too.
He needs to want to go off his butt
in the opposite.
way, that's what we need.
It's not like you woke up this morning and needed to get some things off your
chest.
I tell you what,
I'm,
I'm,
that's right.
I'm,
I'm tired of everybody writing the oilers off.
No,
but I just,
usually Sean's the perfect host date.
He's asking all his guests.
Not today.
No,
no,
this is the Sean new podcast today.
This is the real Sean.
So I just ask,
maybe I'll ask Sean a couple of questions.
Put the stamp on the show there.
It's actually nice to see Sean showed up after how many brothers around tables.
It's finally not,
uh,
enjoyable to not hear Dustin and Jason going back and forth.
and Sean actually putting his two comments in.
Well,
I mean, you know how much this phone has been blowing up with people,
all the people, all my life, Calgary Flames fans, and just,
you know what?
There was one last dip there.
Yeah.
So I'm actually going to tell the story of you guys being up 3-0 in Wainwright in game four.
Oh, that's what I was thinking.
Great.
Thanks for telling this story.
I will tell the story because you guys were up in that game.
Was it 3-2, I think?
2-1.
3-1, I thought.
I thought it was 2-1.
And one of your guys late in the third period had a breakway, didn't score.
There was like five minutes left.
I think it was Wayhill.
If I remember, Sirs me, that is correct.
And I'm up in the stands watching this.
And then I'm less than a minute left.
Wainwright comes back and scores.
A seeing eye shot from the point.
Seeing eye shot from the point is right.
Traffic in front.
You got to bother Barovsky.
And then they win it in overtime and then win the next three to win the series.
Isn't that what I just said, right?
The hardest game is going to be this next one.
and if you're Hamilton, you just want to keep it closed
to where you somehow sneak out that two-two tie,
win in an overtime, and then the whole momentum changes.
But as a coach, you don't tell your team that.
What you've got to say is you've got to go flat-out.
I believe what you said is they're not going to win the series
because Bobrovsky's the best goalie in the world
and he's going to steal it.
He's going to steal a game.
I don't know.
I'm not saying game four.
The odds are in my favor, so that's why I went with that.
Yes, the odds are forever in your favor.
But I've been taking odds this whole time.
I got one coin.
So, I mean, obviously, that's not working.
So, but I think Barbarowski steals one.
You didn't win the fifth pink cup, Jay.
You got the blue cup.
I'm wondering if you shouldn't be taking this pink cup.
I don't know, Harles, you deserved it after last one.
You also have the most pink cups.
For the record, at the start of this series, I was 10 points down in the Don's Cup with nine Oilers and Harley having no one left.
And wait, wait, wait, let me finish this because I'm going to win the Don's Cup.
And Jason said, yeah, you still got to get 10 points.
I'm like, the Oilers are going to get me 10 points to get across the finish line.
And now three games through the series.
I'm five points back.
And I go...
There's a chance he doesn't win.
Am I not going to get there because the Oilers can't freaking win a game?
By the way, that would be the fourth ring.
If the Oilers win a game, I get there.
But if the Oilers don't win a game, I'm screwed.
Yeah, I agree.
And you know what?
And I think we said that.
I'm cheering for you.
Let me be...
It's kind of a win-win for you.
It really is.
I am fully cheering for you because I want the...
Next game is a win-win for me.
And by the way, the reason I keep getting the Pink Cup Harles
is because either I'm winning or I'm losing.
I'm not this middle fluffy spot that you are with one coin.
Yeah, well, as you're losing a lot, Jay.
Come on, what are you talking about?
No, no, no, I've had that either the pink cup or I'm wearing a coin, not this fluffy around the middle.
20, 25, we're going to make sure a couple things happen.
One is we're going to have a pink helmet in here.
So when you get the pink cup, you're wearing the pink helmet.
I wonder if I shouldn't bug Sean Alexander to just give us like a box of pink cups.
So as we're putting out our coins, we should be putting out the pink cups so you're surrounded by pink cups.
We actually see Jay at this point.
I probably not.
No, he'd be surrounded by...
Maybe we should have a chicken hat or something, eh?
Well, we could have a lot of fun with that.
Maybe a rooster hat.
Maybe, but if we get something bad enough, maybe I'm going to more aim for the fluffy middle.
Boys, with the, you know, just a couple minutes.
One final thought is happy Father's Day to all you.
It's going to be Father's Day here on Sunday.
Oh, I didn't realize.
Anybody doing anything spectacular?
You know what the difference between Mothers and Father's Day is?
Well, one...
Do we want to hear this?
Yeah, well, no.
Fair enough.
I'll put that to my wife.
Anyhow, on Mother's Day, my wife always wants to do something as a family.
And on Father's Day, I really want to go do something with either my dad or my brothers.
That's a difference between mothers and Father's Day.
Peace, kids.
I'm out.
Anything else?
I'm going to a wedding.
I'm looking forward to doing something with my kids.
I'm hoping I can get Dad in this room.
I might actually play my first golf game of the year.
On Sunday.
On Sunday.
And Sunday's supposed to be a high of plus 12 rainy all day.
Oh, pretty much.
Perfect.
Perfect. Thanks, boys, for hopping in.
We'll see what the Oilers do in the next.
Again, I got win-win.
Either the Oilers win game for or I got a silver coin.
Maybe that's your problem with the silver coin, eh?
A win-wins.
You've been win-winning a lot of pink cups.
That's what you've been doing.
A lot more serious than you, bud.
Yep.
I look forward to a Stanley Cup and Jay getting the pink cup.
I just love my heart.
Sean actually has his one puck here because that's what he's one.
Hey?
Gidey up, boys.
Hey?
All right.
We'll get out of here.
