My name's Chase Waters.
I'm Bryce Kandop.
Hi, I'm Zane Frankl, and you're listening to a Sean Newman podcast.
Who-wee!
Plus 20, folks.
How good was the weather on the weekend?
I'll answer for you.
It was fantastic.
And if you're listening to this from somewhere in the world
where you've been dealing with plus 20 for the last month,
well, who cares, all right?
I'm sitting here in Lloyd and we have, well, it hasn't been great.
And over the weekend, in shorts, in the back,
backyard drinking a sassbrile doing a little bit of you know yard work it was gorgeous no snow
to deal with perfect how about the last dance on Netflix anybody watching that I don't
really talk about things I've been watching on Netflix because really there's nothing to you know
Tiger King we bring it up every once in a while but has anybody else been watching the last
dance just came out last Monday uh ESPN documentary on on the Bulls
Chicago Bull's last championship.
It comes out two episodes every Monday, I believe.
So that means tonight there will be a couple more to watch.
And it's got everybody, Jordan Pippin, Rodman, you name it.
It's got Barack Obama in it for whatever reason he's sitting there.
But unreal to go behind the scenes of a championship team like that.
And I guess I just can't remember the controversy that was going on at that time.
But let me tell you, do yourself a favor and click on that show because it is fantastic.
you won't be disappointed.
Now, another good thing that's come in the last couple days since we last,
we're on, is the government of Saskatchewan being the border city.
It sounds like we're going to adopt the Saskatchewan phase out or phase in plan.
And so set to begin on May 4th is phase one.
You know, one of the big things I think all of us sports crazed people are thinking
is golf courses will start to reopen with restrictions.
beginning May 15th, who we, I don't know, you know, everybody's having a discussion about,
is it just Sask residents?
I don't know what's going to happen there, but the fact of golf course is getting reopened,
I can just feel every guy just giddy right now.
Phase two, beginning May 19th, the one I've circled is hairdressers.
Hairdressers, man, this guy needs a haircut.
And for all you out there who saw my wife, butcher, our old.
son's hair cut.
I laughed.
I don't know why she put it on on Facebook, but she puts it out on Facebook.
And then, you know, everybody's laughing at it because, I mean, she was using my beard
trimmer to try and cut her youngest son's hair.
And if you've ever dealt with a four-year-old trying to cut his hair, A, it's not the
easiest thing.
But two, I'm, you know, none of us are hairdressers.
So I was having a chuckle.
So hairdressers are coming.
Phase three, which they don't know.
They don't have a date for yet.
But gyms are back open.
restaurants at 50% capacity that is you know you go a little further in the phase four they
got the casinos the curling rinks the swimming pool the parks the playgrounds etc coming back open
i mean it's just nice to i've been harping on the government for a while now that there's no
they they don't talk about any plan of when this gets going back the other way well for the first
time we're starting to um to see that oh and the other thing too is uh
Set to begin May 4th, online reservations for campgrounds are going to start,
which then are to be reopened June 1st, which I assume is strictly going to be, you know,
SaaS residents.
But regardless, it's nice to hear some positivity in the world coming back.
Now, if you want to get the business info on the podcast for free,
uh, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, shoot me a message until this COVID-19 thing is over.
And I'm just looking to help.
So if you want to get a message out to your clients,
your customers just let me know
uh should remind people
youtube is here i've been putting up
every episode moving forward here on youtube
and uh you're welcome to go browse there
i got a nice gift uh this past week

fountain tire and he had a signed border king's jersey for me
and he'd done it up nice like i mean go to go check out
twitter or facebook instagram which whatever you're
on go take a look at it it is beautifully got it framed by art and soul here in lloyd minster they did a
fantastic job and it's uh back from when we did that hockey day in saskatchewan and hillmond
back in january we had the wait and friends game and a bunch of the border kings who'd won
all and cups were there and so it's all signed by them and it's just professionally done i can't
wait to hang it in the studio uh hopefully you know i didn't see on the the sask phase in plan when
the podcast studio gets open back up but hopefully soon folks now
The Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation has a note they'd like me to pass along.
It says, I would like to thank our local health care team members who responded so quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our local hospital leaders move fast to secure safe life-saving supplies for our frontline staff.
And within days, our hospital had a strong stock of life-saving supplies from the local community.
This happened because of you, our donors.
Thanks to the strong support from all of our donors over many years, our frontline workers are empowered to
care for all of us through the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation. Now if you're looking for ways
to help, a COVID-19 emergency fund has been started while there is no pressure to give in these
uncertain times, they are taking donations to cover a variety of items that have been purchased
or still need to be. And those include PPE, iPads for isolated residents and patients,
care packages for staff, opt-y-flow machines, food, coffee and meals for staff, room monitors,
mobile carts and shelves for added hospital support units.
The Health Foundation encourages you those looking to donate,
call at 306-82061, or go online, LRHF.Ca, backslash, donate.
The Health Care Foundation also would like to note
they're accepting cards and letters for support and encouragement
for health care staff and isolated residents and patients.
These can be mailed to their front office for more information.
visit their website again LRHF.ca.
While you're stuck at home, maybe have the kids do up a couple cards, though.
It's not a terrible idea.
Give them a little project and make somebody's day.
Now, Chris Weeb, Keep a Concrete.
They're open for business, specializing in commercial agriculture and residential,
basement floors, driveways, sidewalks, patios, pads, bands, grads,
badge band, that's a heck of a game.
Shops, barns, and countertops.
Essentially, if you dream it, they can do it.
Give the boys a call 780871, 1083.
Kenny Rutherford, Hozen the podcast.
That's Rutherford Appraisal Group.
In these difficult times, if you're in need of any appraisal work from bank loans,
setting a fair purchase price, whenever or whether you're buying or selling any type of real estate,
shop, homes, farms, cabins, restaurants, you name it, give Kenny the man a call at 306, 307, 1732.
Carly Clause and Windsor Plywood.
I actually was just talking to Carly on Friday.
I've got a project that I'm going to be heading there this week to take a look at.
But if you're looking for anything would relate it,
they're open regular hours.
Call ahead so they can help with the physical distancing.
They have a curbside pickup or free in-town delivery
while this current situation is currently going on.
Call and Ringette, CR sales, and marketing is hoping everyone is staying healthy and safe.
If you're looking for a unique and cost-effective approach to sales and marketing within the oil and gas industry, give Colin a call 780 871-1417.
Corey Dubik, Midwest Flooring, open regular hours, call, stop in or shop online and support local folks.
Lori LaBerge, Abby Rhodes, flowers and gifts, temporary closed-walk-ins but are doing curbside pickup and free in-town delivery 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 780.
875-2211.
And I suggest some flowers for the messes because I've been talking to a few people
who have been getting into, let's say, arguments with their significant other.
And I think we're all, you know, when you've been around people this much,
you get in arguments about pretty much the color of the wall.
That's all it takes to set some people off.
So all I would say is,
Flowers seem to do the work.
I bought some for Mel about a week and a half ago, and she loved them.
They did a really good job, so I would highly suggest some flowers.
Grid Athletics, check them out on Instagram or Facebook.
They still have a deal going on where if you spend $100, you get $25 back to a local business in the form of a gift card.
Wandering Wild apparel has teamed up with Let's Walk the Talk.
If you check out their Instagram or Facebook, you can buy now, Let's Walk the Talk gear through Wandering Wild.
Some of the proceeds are going back to help.
Let's Walk the Talk initiative.
Factory sports, the boys over there are open.
I mean, I guess they're not open to Walkins.
What I mean is they're open for business.
Give them a call.
306, 825-7678.
They got all their summer stuff ready to roll.
I mean, hopefully the ball season is coming up, right?
You need a new back glove.
You name it.
They got it.
Give Mr. Holt, Nathan Mollett, a call.
Them guys will hook you up.
How about some shoutouts this week?
Dan 40, best pod yet.
He was talking about QDM, that is Quick Dick, McDick.
Troy Clark said having QDM on, he is a true Canadian.
And I've seen every YouTube clip of his, but your podcast clearly showed that he is a great man.
I walked the entire episode, and it flew by.
Folks, that's like a two-hour walk, too and a bit.
That's a good walk.
And it's a nice shot of reality we all need.
Dan Mack, my old roommate, college roommate, said the QDM interview was fantastic.
I would agree.
If you haven't listened to Quick Dick or you don't even know who he is, check out his YouTube videos.
He is unreal, and that was the episode right before this one.
So go back and check it out.
Now, here's your factory sports tale of the tape.
Today I'm joined by three local boys who are playing in the WHL,
and obviously their season have been cut short.
Chase Waters, the captain of the Saskatoon Blades,
Zane Franklin, Captain of the Camloops Blazers,
and fourth in W.HL scoring when they halted the season.
And then finally, Bryce Kindop, Captain of the Everett Silver Tips,
and who just finished signing an entry-level deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
So sit back and enjoy without further ado.
Well, thanks for joining me, boys.
I'm joined by Bryce Kindop, Zane Franklin, Chase Waters,
all captains in the dub of their respective teams.
So thanks for hopping on tonight, fellas.
no worse now my first question is going to be years down the road when you're all married and have kids and
we've got grandkids and they're asking you about this strange time what are what is it going to be
the one thing you tell them that you've noticed about COVID-19 yeah I don't know I think something that
we've been kind of spent a lot of family time together playing no clue whether it's playing board games
or going outside so that's kind of good and we've I don't know
right now we're working on a paint in the garage.
There's lots of housework kind of to get done, but it's a weird time for sure.
I think everybody's doing a little bit of painting.
Like paint store has got to be out of paint by now.
How will you, Zaynor?
Well, this is the first time I've been home in the last five years for cabin.
So I've actually put to work the last, you know, a couple weeks.
So I haven't been, you know, as bored as these two guys probably.
but, you know, I'm learning a lot of stuff that I missed out on for sure.
And Kinder?
Yeah, I think you notice how much you miss your friends and just miss doing normal stuff.
It's just weird being stuck inside, kind of, and having to follow all these new rules now.
So I think you just miss your friends and you just kind of realize that kind of stuff a little bit more.
Yeah, you start growing a mustache.
Yeah, and you start doing weird stuff because you're bored.
What's the weirdest thing you guys got going on right now?
My mustache is probably it for now.
Yeah, I had a little gouti going for a little bit, but it's gone out.
It was pretty bad.
I told everybody at myself, I'm not shaving or getting a haircut till we're allowed to leave.
So I might be, we'll have to check it in a month and see what's like.
I've been doing beach body with the wife.
That's,
I feel pretty uncoordinated doing that stuff.
I'm not going to lie, fellas.
What is that?
It's like arms?
Are you talking about a workout right now?
Yeah, Beachbody.
You've never seen the beach body videos?
No.
Where a person yells at you from the TV
and you do like air squats and I don't know.
Yesterday night was
it was based off martial arts
so a lot of punching
a lot of kicking.
That's something I could do I think.
You just start one of those Frankie's.
Yeah.
Frankies,
that's if we have any summer ever.
There might not be no summer.
Well, it's starting to feel half decent,
nice now, fellas.
Yeah, that was nice out today.
It's finally nice today, yeah.
Speaking of which, I was thinking here, you guys since, I don't know, you guys can tell me the age, whether it was 14, 12, 16, or pretty much on the ice, out of 365 days, I assume 300, maybe more than that.
With no ability to be on the ice right now, what are you guys doing to keep yourselves?
I don't know, what are you guys doing to work out?
Obviously, you're not doing beach body.
I have a little space back here in the basement where I got a little bench in a bar
trying to do that kind of things I have a treadmill I've ran around bun miller a couple times
and I know I've been talking to chase he's been rollerblading so I have a couple of I have a pair of my own
so I'll probably start doing that pretty soon here yeah we got a little we got a little set up
our garage too my dad's kind of ordered a few things when we kind of realized we'd be stuck inside for a while
So we got a little bit of gym equipment and then, yeah, like I said, I've been putting on some hours on the roller blades.
But it's fun.
And I only have a punching bag and a bench press.
So I'm just working on the essentially right now.
Chest and fighting skills is all I'm working on.
Well, the sidewalks will be clear now, fellas.
So the roller blades will be solid because I've been out with the kids.
about four times a day, it seems like, to try and keep their energy down.
And at least everything's clear now.
So at least you can get outside and do some running up until this week.
That wasn't the case.
You dang near kill yourself sometimes running around on our streets.
Yeah.
Pretty icy.
Pretty brutal.
Well, I'm curious what you guys' thoughts.
You guys were all in the middle of the season or coming towards the end of the season, playoffs on the horizon.
what uh who out of you three was going the deepest in the playoffs
we were ever no no no i don't know i don't know i'm a different division than these guys
that's right that's right i would have met one of them in the final so i think we were just
rolling out we were just rolling in the playoffs and then then it all happened well i i have such a
different opinion than both you um um chase's team is yeah they would not got to the finals and and and
brice this team would have lost to Portland why we would have played Portland in the conference
rounds and then we would uh you know had a good series of them but we would you know that means that we
would have made the farce the last year we lost to Portland well yeah you would have lost Portland for sure
though.
Ah,
they were the best all year.
But, yeah,
that's not what I'm saying.
We beat you too, so who knows?
Yeah, one total four times.
We should have beat you guys with your, Frankie.
No, we kind of worked you guys.
We lost
Moosh and Regina before we played you guys,
so we couldn't lose to you guys, too.
Boyce, how hard.
Was it to have it in the way it did?
Yeah, I thought it was brutal because you just have that thought in the back of your head now.
And obviously mine and Zainer's last kick at the can there, and we both had pretty good team.
So you kind of sit back and look at all the memories there, and it just tough to go that way,
not knowing how the year could have ended and stuff like that.
So it wasn't very easy for sure.
Yeah, it definitely sucks, you know, losing out a championship, you know,
because I thought that's how that way went.
if we would have got to finish this season.
Yeah, it's tough.
But, you know, we're all in the same boat kind of, so it's, you know, it sucks,
but it is what it is.
Yeah, I think I'm kind of lucky.
I got another year.
I can imagine being you two guys.
I mean, yeah, it was pretty crazy.
We woke up one day, and we were actually on a road trip in Brandon.
So we were in, or Brandon, Winnipeg.
So we were in Winnipeg.
When we practiced the morning and then got the news later that night,
that we had to go home and then went home the next morning.
So it seemed like it all happened so quick.
And I was really crazy and tough the way it all ended.
Well, when it kind of was like, you know, when they had first postponed it or whatever,
we had just went through like Tri-City and Spokane.
And that's like, you know, the whole state of Washington was like super bad, I guess, at the time.
So we were kind of like, you know, crossing their fingers, hoping we didn't pick anything up.
Yeah, I thought I was going to get stuck in Washington at that point when everything started to go downhill.
I thought the borders were going to get shut down or something, but I was lucky enough to come back.
Well, I was curious, like, Chase, obviously you being Saskatoon, you're the closest to Lloyd.
I mean, you don't have really anything to worry about.
They weren't shutting down the highway in between the two cities by any stretch of the imagination.
But, you know, coming from over in B.C., Zaner, you, like,
Like BC had the earliest outbreak in Canada.
What was it, was there any stress at all once things started to close down from that side of the world?
Or not really?
Well, the only stress I really had was if my truck was going to get me home
because the engine light was turned on, it turned on the day before I was supposed to leave.
And, you know, halfway home, I broke down.
So I had to pull into one of small towns.
I forget where it was,
Valmont or somewhere like that.
And luckily,
they got me back on the road,
but it worked,
you know,
for everything,
like considering everything.
There was, like,
no service,
like,
an hour on each side of,
you know,
Vailmont.
And I was just leaving,
passing through,
and my engine just,
like,
I lost all power.
So I had to,
like,
putter back to,
you know,
Vailmont,
thankfully got fixed.
But that was the only stress I had.
I wasn't worried about,
roads or whatever getting shut down.
How are you, Bryce?
I mean, you're in a different country at the time.
And like you say, like, I mean, Washington was the earliest outbreak pretty much of it.
What was the stress level like on your guys' side?
Yeah, I think it was definitely taking a little bit more serious there.
I mean, for us, we still didn't know at the time.
Obviously, we knew it was pretty serious with the league getting postponed.
And then you start seeing it all over the news.
And next thing, you know, our euros are flying home the next day.
And then it's kind of just going into a little bit of a craze.
And luckily enough, we got to go home the next day.
So I think it was taking a little bit more serious there.
And we were all lucky to get home.
It's pretty crazy how quickly things shut down, eh?
Like, I mean, speaking from a senior hockey standpoint, senior hockey got closed down.
Like out in the middle of Boontown, Saskatch, and we weren't allowed to have anything going on.
I can just imagine, like, you're probably heading to practice or what have you.
Like, where were you guys when all this went down?
We actually just got off the ice.
So we got off the ice, went back to the hotel for lunch, and then found out we were going to have a meeting later that night to see what was going on.
But we kind of heard stuff that stuff was going to get canceled just from other guys around the league.
But so we all kind of knew what was going to happen.
It was just kind of a waiting game.
But, yeah, like I said, then we had to bus home.
10 hours the next day to get home and then drive home the next day.
So, yeah.
Yeah, I don't really, you know, remember the exact or, you know, where I was.
But, no, I remember just at the time because they kind of postponed on a Thursday and didn't
cancel until, you know, Sunday.
So we kind of just had the whole weekend, the whole weekend off.
So we, you know, I don't say we really, like, got together as a big group, but we definitely,
you know, some hung out.
little bit and so I don't remember the exact moment they we found out safe to say you
weren't too stressed about it when it first came out then yeah well no you know I mean
I I didn't ever hear anybody again like had it in can't let it in canlips yet so
whatever no I think it was my last it was my last you know year so if they're
gonna cancel I'm gonna have some fun when I go home I go home I go home I
How were you, Bryce?
Yeah, same kind of thing as Chase.
We just had morning practice.
We were going to go on a road trip to Tri-City that day.
And then that got pushed back until we found out what was happening.
And then we had a meeting that same day and figured out we were all going to go home.
So it did happen really quick.
Now, looking back at your guys is, I mean, Chase, you've still got a season coming up.
But looking over this past season, is there any moments that stick out to your guys?
as a memory is a special or a crazy moment, what have you, whether we're talking in-game,
fans, volunteering, just in general, anything that really sticks out from the season,
you know, looking back on it?
I think for me, I think, you know, you don't, it's weird because, you know, if you would
have known this was going to happen, you would, you know, pay more attention to a little
moments, you know, the little details that you miss.
but I think just for me and, you know, I think our team, we had so much fun every day, you know,
coming to the rink.
I think that kind of sticks out for me the most.
Like I think compared to, you know, the last three years, three years before that, like,
just, you know, this was just a whole nother level of fun.
And obviously it helps when you're winning a majority of the hockey teams, but, you know,
the guys are awesome, the coaches are awesome.
So I think just, you know, everyday life was just really fun for me this year.
Yeah, I think I'm kind of similar to Zane there.
We had a really good group of guys this year, and we're fortunate enough.
We have a lot of guys coming back next year, and obviously to the guys that don't come back.
I mean, it was kind of their last time, just like Frankie and Frankie and Kenny there.
But, yeah, kind of just what Zane said.
We always had a good time coming to the rink.
And I especially remember our last road trip, we were fighting for positioning in our standings,
that we're playing Winterpeg and Brand, and those were, those were going to be two of the
biggest games of the year, and we're all kind of super excited to go on the bus trip down there,
and it was lots of fun, then all of a sudden it, you know, kind of ended.
So that's kind of probably a moment that stands out to me.
That's awesome.
Yeah, I mean, those two pretty much said it all.
Obviously, there was a bunch of banners one when I was in Everett and stuff like that.
A lot of team, good team success going on, but I think I'm just going to miss going to the rink with
all the boys and doing some fun stuff with the boys.
I think it's stuff like that.
You're going to miss the most about junior hockey.
Now, with the NHL entry draft coming up very, very shortly,
if it does happen, that is, fellas,
I don't know if it's going to,
I don't know what the timeline for that's going to be,
assuming that it goes off in June.
Who's the kid from the dub that everybody's going to be talking about?
I think everybody kind of, well, like Chase would have different guys than I would,
but because we play each other or play different teams a lot.
But definitely, you know, I was lucky enough to play with one of the kids that, you know,
they'll talk about a lot of Zari, you know, play on his line made it pretty easy to, you know,
have success.
And then the one kid from Portland, that Jarvis.
Yeah, he was pretty good.
Yeah, he's lights out too.
Yeah, from our division there.
We got Olin PA, they got the wise black kid and Gully kid.
They're both pretty highly ranked kids.
Yeah, and then we actually had a guy that had a really, like a kind of a breakout second half
and Tristan Robbins.
I don't know if you guys remember him at all, but he finished the earth around 80 points,
and he should go anywhere in the first couple of rounds, I'd think.
But yeah, it'll be cool to see all happens.
It's got to be a stressful time for those kids.
I mean, it's already a stressful time for that age group going into the draft.
And then to have this going on and not knowing if there is going to be a draft is
get to be kind of surreal.
At least they get to miss out and like the fitness testing.
That's a bonus.
You always think of a positive, stay fair.
Yeah, I'm kind of a half, half, the glass half full.
That's half full.
Yeah.
Let's talk about you three.
I was, you know, when I was planning this,
I was watching you guys all from afar, obviously, through social media,
you're all wearing the seas.
You're all having great years.
I mean, two of you,
Bryce, you were, what, 12th in scoring at the time?
Zane, you're top five, you're number four.
Not a big deal.
What?
Not a big deal.
What is it about the Lloyd area that, you know, like, you guys are having some real success,
whether it was night in, night out,
but then also in the leadership category,
putting a letter on your jerseys, respectively.
That doesn't happen.
very often. And I mean, to have three kids out of the same area, I thought was pretty cool.
Yeah. I think we're just around the right people all the time. Obviously, this age group,
the 2009s, we've all played together and been around everybody's parents all the time.
And I think maybe everybody was just raised the same way and raised the right way, that kind of thing.
And just around the right groups of people that I think that kind of helps you get where you need to go.
that is yeah that's really true you know you go to the rink or you work out with each other
every day in the summer you know you pick up tendencies and you know I know these guys learned
a lot for me the last you know a couple summers it's probably the other way around but yeah
it was really fun you know last couple summers and you know hopefully we get to do a little bit of
that this summer yeah I think it's it's always fun kind of like you said there's just good
group of Lloyd boys out there.
Whether it's in the job or whether it's college or junior,
there's a lot of good hockey players in this area.
And it's fun that we all get the chance to skate together in the summer
and kind of push each other and hang out off the rink too and get to know each other.
It's lots of fun.
Well, here's me wishing you, boys,
all the longest possible hockey careers ever.
But I always think when I see all you guys having such a good success,
somewhere the Border Kings are licking their chops,
and you all come back at some point
and restart that team
and win a national champion that way.
I think I'm going to start back
the Marling comments though.
My dad played both things.
Might have to do that someday, so we'll see.
Hopefully I'm not playing then, fellas,
because if W.HL superstars come back,
I'm going to have a rude awakening.
What is next for you guys?
I know, I think we should probably start with Mr. Anaheim Mighty Ducks himself, or I guess not Mighty,
Anaheim Ducks himself.
What was that like for you, Bryce?
I know just signing like, that's got to be a dream come true.
There's now lots of work to go ahead with it.
But maybe talk a little bit about that, because I mean, that is what's next for you coming up here.
As soon as the borders get cleared, I assume, and everything else.
Yeah, obviously that's something I've dreamed about when I started playing hockey.
worked for. So it was a really exciting time there. It was kind of a surprise. It was, we just played a big
game against Portland for first place and we won that game and my GM called me back to his office and
there was an Anaheim scout there that I went out to dinner with earlier on in the year. So I just
thought he was coming to the chat after the game and then he told me my agent accepted a deal that
they offered. So I just kind of went, holy shit and kind of just drew a blank there for a little bit.
And my team told my teammates and I was excited. And then, yeah, what?
Drinks on Bryce. Yeah. And then once it got released there, it kind of settled in. And yeah,
it's just a huge honor. And I'm thankful that it happened to me. Obviously for guys like Zainer and
some other 20-year-olds, the season ending, kind of doesn't help the cause there.
for overagers for the big playoff push.
So I was lucky in that department.
And, yeah, there's so many people to thank.
And, yeah.
Well, you, I don't know the logistics, but is there, with it being the states,
it's not like you can just go over to if it was Emmington or Winnipeg or Vancouver or whatever.
I assume you're in contact.
When are you supposed to head that way?
Is it something that doesn't happen until later on in the year?
Is there even an idea at this point?
Um, yeah, right now, like, I still have no idea because if the HL starts back up, I could be heading there and being a part of their playoff run.
But we still don't know if that's going on.
And then same thing with development camps and main camp there.
The dates are still kind of unanswered.
So I'm just trying to stay in shape as much as possible and see when that works out.
Cool.
Zaynor, how about you?
Like, yeah, with the, you know, things coming to an end the way they do, which, I mean, we've just,
discussed a lot here just sucks it's not exactly ideal what what's next on the docket for you uh it's
very undecided or you know up in the air a little bit um there's definitely some options you know
there's school and then you know there's like some pro but i would love to get like an adle
of some sorts um you know fingers crossed for that to happen but you know if that's you know
doesn't doesn't work out you know um that's make use of like the
the schooling program that Dub, you know, provides to you and, you know, go some more sweet and play
some good hockey there. Yeah, well, on CIS is exceptional hockey, right? Different style compared to
what you guys are playing currently, mainly in schedule, right? Like, I mean, you got school on
top of hockey and the hockey's a shortened schedule, but that'd be by no means a step down
in any stretch of the imagination. There's a lot of good hockey players that go play CIS for
four years and then carry on to have exceptional careers. So,
hey, man, all the best here, because that,
I enjoy watching now that I've got to meet all you guys, it's fun to watch where
you go and how the success has been for all you guys.
With Chase, I assume it's back to Blade City.
Yeah, I'll go back there for my 20-year-old season and kind of hope to have as much success
as these two years as 20-year-olds. And I don't know.
I mean, ultimately try to sign a pro contract next year.
And, yeah, that's kind of a goal right now and just kind of work towards that.
Hopefully, get a camp invite this summer.
But we'll see what happens here coming up if there will be camps or whatnot.
But, yeah, next year I'll be heading back to Saskatoon for last year.
Cool.
Well, let's have a little bit of fun here, boys.
I always end off the segments with the crewmaster final five.
Five questions, nice and simple or as deep as you want to go.
What's the thing you've been binging on since being locked up?
Tiger King.
Yeah, I watched
Tiger King, too.
What did you think of Tiger King?
I couldn't get through Tiger King.
It's a,
yeah,
I couldn't get through it.
It was not, it's,
yeah, it's not.
It wasn't, it was, yeah,
I didn't think it was, like, good,
but, like, you just had to keep washing
because it just got, like, crazy every time.
I don't know how you couldn't sit down
and just watch it,
how crazy that all it is.
The one show I'm into is a curb your enthusiasm on Crave.
That's pretty good stuff.
Never heard of that.
Never heard of curbinger enthusiasm?
I was going to say that is a very mature pick there, Zainer.
Kirby enthusiasm is fantastic.
Who's the main guy in Kirby?
Who's the main guy in Curbier enthusiasm, Zane?
Larry David.
Yeah, who did Seinfeld.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
You guys should watch it, actually.
That's pretty good stuff.
I don't know why.
It's pretty good stuff.
We'll have Crave.
Is Crave free right now?
I heard that.
I might be wrong.
No.
I don't know.
I'm not, I don't pay the bill here, so I don't know.
That's what I heard.
I don't know.
It's free for me.
It's free for me.
I don't know.
I threw out Seinfeld thinking you guys would know that,
but you're all.
too bloody young anyways to know you probably've never watched enough
Seinfeld anyways right any of you watch Seinfeld?
I've probably seen one I've probably seen it when my parents are watching
walking up to grab a snack or something you guys have no idea what you're
missing it's the show about nothing it's fantastic no it's the best show about nothing
that's right right he's a Seinfeld guy
not really but I but I
definitely yeah yeah i definitely know like i know some shit like i've watched a couple but i haven't
you know watched all i will say this the wife and i did sit down and watch tiger king the first
probably three episodes of it make your eyebrows you just are like what is going on uh it kind of
ends abruptly well at least i thought it did all of a sudden he just disappears and then he gets
surrounded by cops and oops spoilers alert but uh yeah it's pretty messed up show
I guess we should ask, though, do you guys think that Carol killed her husband?
100%.
Yeah.
Everything kind of points towards it, but...
I think she's got them to the Tigers, like they said.
Yeah, I could see it, for sure.
Finish the sentence.
When restrictions get lifted, the first thing I'm going to do is...
Go out to J's.
For sure, for happy hour.
See the voice?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you're all meeting at OJ's. Is that the answer?
Yeah, I'm saying.
He's calling the shots.
Wherever Frank you want to.
Whoever brace goes, he's got all the money.
Sports Nets had a big kick right now, or I guess all the sports stations have,
of replaying old hockey series, baseball, basketball, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
if you could have one game come back on any sport any series what one would you want to watch
one game one game one game or one series one of the games actually came on that I watched was pretty cool
was the Russian Canada and the gold medal of the world junior one year was like the year
crosbie was like an underage or whatever he was wearing a cage and his year
bursarone was led the tournament scoring that was a pretty cool game to watch actually
sat down and watched it surprisingly but yeah that's cool and then watching the raptors kind of
win again that was cool the rafters guy hey you're going to recommend your basketball skills
grace or what yeah i still got a nut in my driveway yeah um uh for me i think i would um
have to watch like michael jordan like any you know any one of his uh finals you know
series. You know, he's like one of the best and he's like been all over the, you know,
news right now or whatever because he's his big final series or wherever.
They're doing a documentary on him is coming out. So that would be fun to watch him or,
you know, get to watch him play live.
Comes out on Netflix.
Yeah.
Tomorrow, I think. Yeah. Yeah.
It's supposed to be unreal.
In shows or something?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, hmm.
I'd probably want to watch when Kobe and Shaq were
duo with the with the lakers there that'd be pretty exciting to watch okay this is a big if so a big
what if game here okay if the nchl playoffs could fire up in a couple months and you were the guy
picking the format they're going to play and your choices are march madness so single game winner
take all and you move on world junior format so you play in pools and then move on to
single game elimination playoff rounds or something in variation of the baseball playoffs or you have
a wild card to get in so more teams can compete and then best of three best a five five seven or
those are your three choices all right i think i would go the baseball format you know the series
would be you know five games or whatever it'd probably end up being five games um but i think it you know
it'd still be intense and, you know, it still has like the normal playoff feeling,
but it'd just be shortened and I think that's probably the best way for them to do it.
Maybe I should run the league.
That's what I'll do after this.
I'll run the league.
That's what you should do.
I think that would be cool too.
I think the March Madness would be cool too.
But then again, it's kind of one to one game knockout, which isn't, I don't know if that's like.
I think for fans, March Madness would be like kind of,
exciting to watch. But for the players, it'd probably, if you have one bad game and then you're out,
but for the fans, it'd be pretty exciting. Yeah. Let's put it this way. If the WHL called you
boys tomorrow, said, hey, listen, we're going to have playoffs. The only hitch is one game,
winner moves on. Now who's winning it out of you three? Everett? I think we still are.
As a player, would you go back and play in something like that? If they gave you two,
weeks to listen we're going to we're going to give you some practices and then first game i think you know
when i look back at the standings i want to say saskatoon's playing what emminton first round yeah
sweet for emminton meet them twice this year frankie
Everett's Spokane and camloops would play
Colonna i think you'd play colonna yeah
Yeah.
I still think, just because they would have to play Portland, we would end up.
I just still understand your logic.
Or you have to play Spokane.
Spokane is, yeah, but I'm just, their U.S. division is way harder than my division.
Oh, yeah.
So I'm just saying, like, the chances of you not winning is higher.
I don't agree.
That's just common sense.
Like, that's just logic.
We don't know.
We're just weird.
You guys have watched too much Tiger King, obviously.
If a sport.
No, go.
What are you trying to say?
So you're trying to say the BC is easier?
No, I'm just, yeah.
Well, kind of.
Well, a little bit, actually.
I'm just saying, like,
I agree.
Corona is not, you know, Portland is all I'm saying.
That's all I'm saying.
Probably the probability of.
We would have a harder.
We would have a harder time getting to the finals.
Yeah, exactly.
And that's all I'm saying.
I don't know.
Stronger disagree.
I strongly, that's a little bit, that's good.
It's good.
Your final question.
What will be the first sport to come back with no fans so they can play?
Golf, I think.
Is that considered to be?
Absolutely.
That's a major sport.
Absolutely. I actually can't figure out why they don't do golf right now.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I don't know.
Okay, let's pick out of the four big North American sports.
Okay, so you got baseball, hockey, football, and basketball.
It'd be basketball, I think.
Basketball means the most.
Basketball means the most.
Yeah.
I know, I know.
I think basketball means more to North America than hockey does.
I think if football was possible, I think it would be that, but their season's done already.
I don't know.
Actually, football is a big market.
I don't know.
I really feel like I have it all figured out.
You should send an email in or something.
I could run, you know, the sports.
You should run the whole, you just take over for the virus and everything.
You'll find a cure for a piece, and I bet.
Yeah, exactly.
Don't cut past me.
How weird would it be, boys, if you got invited back to the WHL,
they said, well, we're going to play out the playoffs,
or you're going to have no fans anywhere?
That would be nothing new for Saskatoon.
I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
You're kidding.
We were going to play our last home game in front of no fans already.
So I was, I don't know, it would be, I feel like you would just be able to hear
hear like everything
I think it would just be weird
you wouldn't get away with anything
like you know you miss a pass
or something you're like
fuck do you give me a better pass
the coach you hear it right away
broadcast or whatever just hear you guys
just chirping each other and stuff like that
yeah yeah you hear everything
did you end up playing
Bryce then with no fans or they were just
to do that
it would have it would have been for our final home game
and we had four road games before that, so we never got to.
That would be, I mean, you boys ever get to senior hockey, you'll figure that out pretty quick.
That happens every once in a while for every game in the regular season, but...
It'd be like you're playing like Bantam hockey game.
That's right.
But in a giant building, it'd be in a giant building.
It'd be awful, wouldn't it?
I wonder if they'd do like all the light shows and stuff.
I don't know.
Maybe they have to go play.
It's just like in a minor hockey rink.
So it's like more fast pace.
Well, boys, thanks for hopping on and having a little bit of fun.
Hopefully everybody's staying safe and you guys are figuring away.
I feel like when beers are happening at OJ's,
there might be a little bit of wrestling going on after a few of the last comments going on.
Yeah.
Me and Dana wrestle with Kalopi.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Me and Bryce are known to wrestle, that's for sure.
Well, appreciate you guys hopping on and having a little bit of fun.
Best of luck here in, you know, coming months.
As you move along and see him where you guys go, appreciate you hopping on again.
Yeah, thanks for having.
Thanks for a lot.
