Starting point is 00:00:09 my name Terrorhaman. Alhahim, alhannu'll Bahra al-a'u'a cancers and Salatu. And al-a-Rasolílai and ai, and hey ha'aubhis, my dear brothers and sisters, I pray that, asa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-aa. I ask for our fast from us and accept our efforts from us, my brothers and sisters in Ramadan, as we are now in episode 15. We are at the halfway point of this Ramadan series, and we are at the halfway point of the Matav Ramadan.
Starting point is 00:00:45 One of the most beautiful things about Atta of Ramadan is how it changes us. But are you willing to accept that change? My dear brothers and sisters, one of the things that happens to Altamato of Ramadan is that we work and we work and strive hard as hard as we can. And we create this routine throughout Altamato of Ramadan, and then on the day of Eid, we're back to doing everything we used to do, Right? For those people who like entertainment throughout the month of Ramadan, if they cut it up, then back on the day of Eid, they started up again. If those people who liked to do haram on the day of, you know, during the month of Ramadan, they cut it out.
Starting point is 00:01:23 And on the day of Eid, they came back. But your brothers and sisters, the true essence of Ramadan lies not just in the rituals that we perform. And I'm using the word rituals here because it's very important to realize the month of Ramadan is not about rituals. but rather it's actually about perfecting our character and our inner being. You know, once I had a question asked me not that long ago, actually. I think I believe it was maybe about the time that Matarama was on started. Someone asked, they said, look, I enjoy looking beautiful, but I feel empty, right? And they were like, how do I gain true love and true feeling of fulfillment?
Starting point is 00:02:06 I pray all five of my prayers. I perform vicar. I read Quran. I do good. I know Allah, I know Allah, Sufana-Hu-Tala's book. I listen to it. I read it. Right? And I understand certain things about it.
Starting point is 00:02:19 They were like, but how? How do I feel fulfillment in my life? But your brothers and sisters, that is by building your character and by strengthening your character and by fixing your inner. There's a dua that we make in which it is, oh, Allah, subpoena of how it allah you have beautified my inside so beautify or so you beautify my external so beautify my internal the thing here is my brothers and sisters that we put off the internal beauty the beauty of our soul the beauty of our heart we take off that beauty and we just aside why don't we cover it up with the beauty of the outside which is why allah sapanahua
Starting point is 00:02:59 has taught us in the Quran he specifically says that he has placed a flesh around the bones he's place flesh around the body and he's placed the soul inside and the heart inside, right? What does this mean? This means that all of the skin that I have is just a temporary veil over the actual internal. My dear brothers and sisters, if you want to have true fulfillment in your life and to answer your question again and actually in a talk, the way to do it is to what? Cleange your heart. It's to build your relationship with Allah, Sufana, how it's a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:35 is to build better al-aq, better character. And my dear brothers and sisters, throughout the month of Ramadan, we have that opportunity to do just that. But I'm not here to preach to you how to do it during the month of Ramadan. I'm here to teach myself and in all of you as well how to keep it outside of the month of Ramadan, how we can quit sins, how we can strengthen our relationships with not only Allah, Sufana Hu, but others,
Starting point is 00:03:59 and how we can sustain our goodness, how we can sustain the goodness and the deeds that we did throughout the month of Ramadan, throughout the whole year, year round, right? It doesn't just start in the month of Ramadan. It doesn't just start in Muharam. It doesn't just start in the new year for us, the Islamic New Year, which would be Maharam. My brothers and sisters,
Starting point is 00:04:18 first off is quitting sins. This is one of the biggest for us. Because what drives a person away from Allah, and what places a barrier between them and Allah, is their sins. Quitting sins is one of the most important aspects of our faith, which is why, my dear brothers and and such as Allah,
Starting point is 00:04:35 subhannahu, Almighty reminds us in the Quran. He says, Oh, you have believed, fear Allah, and let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow. And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah,
Starting point is 00:04:46 is acquainted with what you do. My brothers and sisters, this month of Ramadan is a time in which we are encouraged, and we need to develop taqua, right? Which is why, in God consciousness, which helps us resist the temptation of sin,
Starting point is 00:05:03 which is why the ayah, yeah, Iyuh, that Outsi'a unto you unto you may puteba on elizu from before you, to be that l'elikum right?
Starting point is 00:05:14 That, O You have believed fasting is prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those who came before you so that you may get tukwa. You may become righteous. And it also helps us
Starting point is 00:05:24 to resist the temptations of the sin. You know, the biggest part of the sin, my dear brothers and sisters is actually to first acknowledge them and sincerely repent. the prophet sallah alexand said every son of adam sins but the best of sinners are those who repent
Starting point is 00:05:42 right so trying to repent to allah supranahua ta a because you can commit so many different sins even if it might be something as large as shirk but what forgives shirk is repentance it's only your repentance it's nothing other than your repentance so trying to remember my brothers and sisters that no matter how far you've transgressed yourselves, do not despair in the mercy of Allah and the forgiveness of Allah,
Starting point is 00:06:08 but also my dear brothers and sisters. Another tip I can give you when it comes to, before I give you these other tips, is to identify what we would consider triggers, right? We identify the lead up. You know, you have a path, right? If you continue walking by, and this path is filled with all this good stuff, right?
Starting point is 00:06:29 I'm not going to name anything. It just looks amazing. You're like, oh, I really want to go up that path. It has stuff I want, stuff I need. Oh, yeah, I'm going to go it. And you can see you going up this path and it leads to something worse. That path was already bad enough, right? And then you go from that bad that you went to already to something worse and then to something worse.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And it keeps going down this path and you continue getting stuck. And the next time you try to pass by, you're like, let me just keep going. You're like, oh, that right there's exactly what I needed. And then you go to and then you continue going back and going again. But your brothers and sisters, reflect. on the situations or the emotions that lead you to that sin and by recognizing those triggers it can help you to be to take you know proactive steps to avoid them so ensuring that you are trying my dear brothers and sisters to avoid these sins and the way is to realize what's causing the sins in
Starting point is 00:07:23 the first place right we can blame it on the shatan yes but also it might just be a lead-up some people have a problem with things that they watch. Some people have a problem with things that they listen to or things that they do. What was the lead up to that? There's something that provoked that feeling or that emotion or that situation in your life that made it seem, oh man, I really want to do this and I really want to commit the sin. It's just an urge. You have to quit it first and you have to ensure that you are trying to avoid and trying to take the steps to avoid it, my dear brothers and sisters. Another thing that your brothers and sisters when it comes to this is trying to replace bad habits.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Instead of engaging in sinful behaviors, replace it with a positive action. For example, if you are gossiping, right? Just going to give you that. If you're gossiping, redirect that energy into vicar and reading the Quran, right? Keeping your tongue wet with the remembrance of Allah, rather than keeping your tongue wet with the hate
Starting point is 00:08:17 that Allah, supper, or huayah, haitha, hates. Keep your tongue wet with something that Allah loves rather than what he hates. And also, my dear brothers and sisters, ensure that you're surrounding yourself with a righteous company, not only just your family, not only just your friends, but ensure that you're also asking Allah to make it easy upon us all, which we ask Allah to make it easy upon us all, I mean.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Ensure that if you do have your friends and your family, you are engaging with them, and you're trying to ensure that you're staying around those who can encourage you to stay on the right path, and they will hold you accountable for what you do. Another one of the things I want to mention my brothers and sisters is our relationships with not only Allah, but with others as well. And one of those things, but your brothers and sisters is during the month of Ramadan, it is a time to deepen our relationship with Allah, Supan, He states in the Quran, Allah, Allah says, and your Lord says, call upon me or invoke me, I will respond to your invocation.
Starting point is 00:09:13 In order to strengthen your bond with Allah, Supperna, Hewatea, you first have to increase in your Ibadah, right? You have to make a commitment to yourself and to Allah, Sufana, Hewata, to maintain your prayers and acts of Ibadah. you observe during the month of Ramadan. And that includes not only just the five daily prayers, but your additional sunnah, your recitation of the Quran, your vikr, your dua, your charity, your giving.
Starting point is 00:09:38 All of these are acts of iBada if they're done with the right intention. And speaking of vicarred, ensure you are engaging in vicar. This is how you build a better relationship with Allah. We regularly remember Allah, Sophanahua, and Hisdhāsa'a'u'u ta'a, through your vikr,
Starting point is 00:09:50 saying, Sophanalalal, al-havala, Allah, al-a-elah, throughout your day helps you to continue to stay present in the remembrance of Allah, like I said, with keeping your tongue wet with remembrance of Allah. And sure you're also making dua, my brothers and sisters. Making dua is very, very important, as when the month of Ramadan is a time in which our duas are accepted, but also throughout the year of the time which our duas are accepted. If only the month of Ramadan was a time in which our duas were accepted, then nobody's du'a
Starting point is 00:10:20 would have been accepted ever, right, throughout the other 11 months. So ensure my dear brothers and sisters that you continue to make dua'a even after Ramadan asking Allah suhpana huaata for guidance, forgiveness, and strength to maintain the good habits that you develop during this month. One of the things I also wanted to mention is improving your relationship with others. My dear brothers and sisters, that's very difficult because during the month of Ramadan we have been taught the importance of community and compassion. And Allah suprama and said it emphasizes in the Quran. He says you remain conscious of Allah and mean that, which is between you.
Starting point is 00:10:56 So what he's saying here is that if you have someone who they still believe, they still worship Allah, they still do the same things, min that relationship, right? Which is why the first part he mentions here, he doesn't just say, mean that which is between you. He says, and remain conscious of Allah. Remain conscious of Allah. Remember him in all aspects of life and mend those relationships that you have between,
Starting point is 00:11:15 which is why, my dear brothers and sisters, we should strive to improve our relationships with others. We should, we really should. And one of the best ways to do that is, forgiveness. It's trying to practice forgiveness, especially throughout the month of Ramadan. Try to let go, let go. Don't grow any grudges. Let go of those grudges and those past grievances and the things and the mistakes that they made, which is why the Prophet of Allah a.m. said, whoever does not show mercy to our young and does not respect our elders is not
Starting point is 00:11:46 among us, right? It's not one of us. So try to make an effort to reach out to those who have who you may have conflicts with and seek, you know, the forgiveness, right? And as well, my dear brothers and sisters, try to make sure it's a two-sided affair. Don't just do all the work and they're not doing anything and they're just like, oh, you're just going to hold up the friendship. It's like trying to hold up both sides, the friendship and life and all those things together. But inshallah, that would be another talk that we'll do, not during this series, but inshallah, soon, my dear brothers and sisters. Ensure that you're also showing kindness, my dear brothers and sisters even if they are your enemies show kindness still engage in acts of kindness
Starting point is 00:12:22 whether that is through charity whether that is through helping them whether that is simply offering a smile smile you know simple gestures have a profound impact upon the relationships and finally when it comes to this my dear brothers and sisters uh foster open and honest communications between the two the reason why i say between you two and not just you is because it's very important, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are sharing your feelings and listening to theirs, right? Because some people just share their feelings and they don't want to listen to others. And this is where a lot of problems happen in a lot of relationships, both marriage and just friendships as well. So ensure, especially for those youth out there, okay? I'm speaking to you,
Starting point is 00:13:06 youth, you as well on the camera, inshallah, watching it home, speaking to the youth. Try your absolute hardest, my dear brothers and sisters, to listen to both sides. Try to be on the both sides of listening and also telling your feelings and ensure that you're creating an environment that is supportive, that's friendly, and that is kind and nice and compassion to everyone, my dear brothers and sisters. One of the last things we're going to speak about here is sustaining and trying to keep the goodness that you did during the month of Ramadan outside of the month of Ramadan. So even when the Ramadan comes to an end, it is very crucial to carry the lessons
Starting point is 00:13:42 and the good habits that we developed into our daily lives, right? And the strategies that help you sustain that goodness are setting realistic goals because some of us don't do that. Some of us don't set our realistic goals, set achievable goals for yourself. For instance, if you aim to read the Quran daily, continue with that with a manageable portion each day as long as you can, even if it's just a few isas. Try it, continue it, and keep it going. Under brothers and sisters, ensure that you're reflecting regularly, taking the time to reflect on your spiritual journey, consider journaling, you know, your thoughts and your experiences, you know, noting areas for improvement in celebrating your successes, not only just in your journal, but also with Allah. And finally, my dear brothers and sisters, create a routine that actually is based upon your Ibadah and based upon Allah.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Some of us, as the last thing I'm going to say, I know we're running out of time here, but some of us, we need to pray. But inshallah, some of us, we work so hard towards our routines throughout the year. We get up, we pray Fudger, we get in the shower, we may do this, we may go there, we go to work, make your relationship with Allah supanahua-ta-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-routine. Make your routine a part of your relationship with Allah, because Allah-safana-ho-ta-a-a-a-a-a-a is incorporated in every aspect of your life. Ensure, my dear brothers and sisters, that you're trying to make this a regular part of your life
Starting point is 00:14:55 and you're trying to better yourselves. My brothers and sisters, this month of Ramadan is a transformative month that offers us the opportunity to quit the sins, to strengthen our relationship with Allah-Safana-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-and-a-a-and-a into cultivate in our lives. inshā'a'a by implementing these strategies we have discussed today we can ensure that the positive changes
Starting point is 00:15:16 that we made during the month of Ramadan continue to flourish throughout the year. We ask Allah, Sufana and Heiata to grant us the strength to overcome our shortcomings, deepen our faith and our amen and our love and our compassion for him and for others to maintain the goodness that we have cultivated. We ask Allah, I ask Allah sa'upeanao to bless us all.
Starting point is 00:15:33 I mean, Jazah, al-Qa-haired, and for coming, my dear brothers and sisters. I might have gone a little over time. I think I went two minutes over today. Sorry, I apologize for that. But I'm sorry, I apologize for that. I pray to see you all tomorrow, my dear brothers and sisters for episode
