Sheikh Uthman Hadi - Do not be among the two faced people

Episode Date: January 6, 2026

As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Today, I want to remind ourselves about a critical aspect of our character that we must guard against: being two-faced or hypocritical. In Islam, sincer...ity and honesty are fundamental values, and being two-faced can lead to severe consequences in this life and the Hereafter.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sheikh-uthman-hadi--6689369/support.https://sheikhuthmanhadi.beam.lyhttps://open.spotify.com/user/315hadqmwxllibu6ubi5us2cbn2y?si=572b4d8898284e9ehttps://open.spotify.com/show/3MQHfrpjj3XXcqoPbN5Dl8?si=v6YQ42kpSx-VONBFhT3CzA

Starting point is 00:00:00 My brothers and sisters, throughout our lives as Muslims, we must ensure that we are doing good and that we ensure that we treat people respectfully. I want to give you two examples here, as there's an authentic hadith in which the Prophet of Allah al-Aleu-Selan was talking about the two-faced people. Do you know them? Do you know who the two-faced people are? In our case in time now, we call them people a bipolar, right? But let me go through it. The Prophet of Allah al-a-a-u-a-u-slam said, they are people who, when they are with a certain group of people,
Starting point is 00:00:33 they are a certain way. And when they are with another group of people, they are another way. That is one example of the two-faced people. And another example, which, inshallah, I will get into, is those who are hypocritical, who they say one thing, and then turn around and do the other. When they are brothers and sisters,
Starting point is 00:00:52 ensuring that no matter what we do, we are not among the two-faced people, but we are among the one face people the people who they always guide towards goodness and they follow that guidance which is why people will be like oh you know you know you want to teach a slime you want to teach okay that's good but remember follow what you teach whatever I teach I follow it I'm saying right now so upon a law don't be among the two-faced people that's a reminder to myself don't be among those people you can teach it to others
Starting point is 00:01:26 But you have to follow it. Because if I didn't follow it, I would be among the second group of people, which is hypocritically speaking, right? Which means that you are teaching one thing to one person or to a group of people and then turn around and do the thing that you said to do not to do. Or you do the opposite. I'll give you an example. If someone says that when you pray, you're supposed to say, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:54 Saduk Allah al-Avim, you hear this sometimes. During prayer. I've heard it before. You're supposed to say Sarkulah al-Aidim after you recite the Sura, in the prayer. And then you turn around and don't say it. You're a hypocrite, right? You would be considered a hypocrite because you told someone to do one thing and you didn't do that thing. You didn't follow up with that thing, right?
Starting point is 00:02:15 And that's just a, you know, a normal level example I can give. But if I give you a deeper example, I want you to understand this. When your brothers and sisters, when you're at home, how do you treat your family? How do you treat the people who are around you? How do you treat your loved ones, your friends, anybody? Right? That's a question we have to ask ourselves. Reflection and introspection.
Starting point is 00:02:41 We have to internalize ourselves. We have to realize, okay, how am I treating people, right? Within my own circle at home? Am I treating them respectfully with kindness, with mercy, with love, with happiness, or are you treating them with disrespect, with harm, right? My brothers and sisters, I want to give us the example, the second example, of people who can be two-faced. And that example is an example that you see a lot nowadays as well.
Starting point is 00:03:15 You'll find someone who they harm their family. They speak bad about people at home. They speak bad about people. They say things that are not pleasing to Allah. They do things that are not pleasing to Allah. a lot to these people at home. And when they get out in public, they're complete opposite.
Starting point is 00:03:32 They have two faces. They have the face of the group at home. And they have a face of the people outside. People outside of their home, they treat with kindness, with respect, with love. Right?
Starting point is 00:03:45 They ensure that no matter what happens, no matter how harmful a person can be, they treat them with respect. Right? my dear brothers and sisters ensuring that we are not among the two-faced people as the end of the hadith in which I quote
Starting point is 00:04:04 by the Prophet of Allah al-Aliu-Sahna he says that these are people who are most hated by Allah because they switch they switch at one point they're happy people they're showing kindness to everyone
Starting point is 00:04:20 they're doing great and then another point they turn they turn and now they've turned into a completely different person they've turned into a completely different being when they go to the mashtit they are respectful
Starting point is 00:04:36 they're not loud they're worshiping their prayer you know they are greeting everyone with Saddam and ensuring that they're not getting upset but when they're at home they're doing the complete opposite this is being among the two-faced people being a hypocrite
Starting point is 00:04:52 For my dear brothers and sisters, I give us a reminder today, starting with myself, having to internalize myself and realize my fault, realize my mistakes, realize my shortcomings, and the things I have to get better at. I'm saying it to all of us, my dear brothers and sisters. When it comes to internalizing ourselves, we must ensure that we are not among the two-faced people. The people that when they are with one group of people, they are kind, they're respectful, they're loving, they're caring, they're caring, they're ensuring that they're speaking good about Allah, they're ensuring that they are worshipping the law and they're, you know, doing good. But when they're with
Starting point is 00:05:30 another group of people, they are completely different. They don't want to mention Allah. They don't want to praise Allah. When someone reminds them, they get upset. When someone reminds them, they turn. My brothers and sisters, do not be among the hypocritical
Starting point is 00:05:48 people. Do not be among the two-faced people. The people in one group, they're kind, they're nice, they're all these different things. They remember Allah. They act good. They give charity. They sound nice. They look nice. They all these different things. But when they're at home, they're a completely different thing. My dear brothers and sisters, we ask Allah to find out to make us among those who are not the two-faced to allow for us to internalize ourselves, to realize our faults and mistakes, to allow for us to become among those who act the same when they're inside the house and like same.
Starting point is 00:06:22 when we're outside. We ask God, to us, for our sins, and our show, come and to grant us a special mercy not only in this life, but we are the next. And we're the next, and al-hawanna, al-hambul-lilah, Rabeh. Sophanakur, God, it is a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-sifun.
Starting point is 00:06:35 And al-a-a-lissan on the Mursaninin. Thank you, Lord of the Alainment. Salaam, aidesh, and of your and of all right of all right.
