Bismillah, Rihman, and al-hameh,
al-hameh, Rāraitha, Rāsa'u'll Allah, and al-a-hahiliah,
and hishabi, Ais, Aishae, and Aishe, and
my brothers and sisters, I pray that everyone is doing well,
and I ask Allah, Sufana and Hewis for our sins of our shulka,
music, grants a special mercy only in this, and mainly in the next,
to grant us accepted fast today, to accept our fast from us,
to accept our rewards, grant us the rewards,
accept our efforts from us today,
and grant us all a blessed last ten nights as we enter,
we enter so my brothers and sisters
a hamdulillah have a rubladen. We are entering the last
ten nights for some. It's very beautiful because
before or actually sara to
maghrib I gave a quick
leil to kadr reminder or if we want to call it a night away.
It's called it's called the last ten night reminder or seeking
leil to kadr shall I call it. But
this one was did we start Ramadan on the wrong date?
And the reasoning why I mentioned off with this one is because
sometimes we get so caught up in the date
in which Ramadan is. Oh Ramadan
started on Thursday for us or one we're on
Wednesday for us in our community it started
on Thursday so just to let you know
inshallah if you already watch that one it's already a good thing
but if you have not watched it inshallah go watch
that and like I said best and I'm going to
continue saying it may Allah
forgive you know all of us middle brothers
and sisters but Allah Safarana who it knows best
and we're going to leave it at that but
just try to worship more throughout these nice
my brothers and sisters as that one good deed that
one Ibada that you're doing could tip your scale
not only in the dunya but in the
a achara it could tip your life it could turn your
life into something completely better or it can turn your life into something completely worse if you're
not worshipping if you're only using the odd nights for you and neglecting the other nights. So,
inshallah, I'm not going to go too deep into what I spoke about earlier, but I do want to
mention as well, if you do have the problem of figuring out, oh, I do want to just worship,
I want to worship more on the odd nights than anything. And it's a debate, then try to make your
nights more even with your Ibada. I don't mean that on the even nights or you know you may you do
less than the odd nights you do more but overall do more period because these are blessed nights in total
my dear brothers and sisters and you don't know when it's going to come because just as you may
suspect on the odd nights I'm only going to worship or on the even nights I'm only going to worship and then
come to find out it happens to be on an even night that later to the kudder is and then you end up
missing out on that opportunity so inshoshataata my dear brothers and sisters it's very beautiful how I
I wanted to pair this into what I spoke about earlier when it comes to the concept of your good deeds, especially during the last night, especially during Laila Thadur, which is why the concept of weighing of the deeds is something that's very emphasized and mentioned actually in the Quran.
And, you know, Allah, Suhaphanahua has mentioned the weighing of your good deeds on the day of judgment when he states, he says, then as for him who balance of good deeds will be heavier or will be heavy, he will live a pleasant last.
in paradise. But as for him whose balance will be light, he will live a home in
Hiwaya. We call the Hiwaya in Arabic, which is also hell or you know he will be in
the Nahr, as we say the NAR, which is the fire. So he will be in the hellfire. So
the, how Allah suhpana-Hu-Italy emphasizes the importance of accumulating good
deeds, especially during the mother Ramadan, as they will also be weighed against the
bad deeds, which is why we've talked about this before. And I wanted to make
this lecture or this episode of our series tonight a bit different we've spoken about you know
forgiveness and seeking forgiveness but one of the things we haven't gone too deep into is the concept
of our actual good deeds and our bad deeds and how they tip the scale right both sides and especially
during these last tonight's and just as you and it's very beautiful how this concept works for their
good deeds but it's very you know very terrifying for us for our bad deeds if you commit a sin during
the normal year right throughout the time it's not it's nothing
right it's a sin yes it is taken for account you seek forgiveness and it's gone right and it's the
same during the month of Ramadan but do not forget my de brothers and sisters if you cannot repent it for
a sin that you committed during the month of Ramadan then now that weighs heavier on your scale and the
reasoning why is because if you go through a lot of the hadith you find that during the month of Ramadan
just as your good deeds are weighed heavier and they are way heavier and they have way more reward
to it your bad deeds are weighed heavier and they have way more of a punishment to them so
don't forget, my brothers and sisters, if you sin during the mother of Ramadan, repent now, right?
Because you're not going to have another chance to repent.
If you do not use that opportunity now and you might not see, you know, layas al-Qa-Qadr.
But try your absolute heart of my brother and sisters to repent now.
We ask Allah to God to give us for our sins or our shortcomings, my brother and sisters.
When it comes to the good deeds that can tip our favor, it's actually a very authentic hadith and very prophetic hadith in which the Prophet of Allahe
a lot of a was a some said whoever does one good deed will be will have the reward of it
10 like it and more so he's giving the reward here he's giving the standpoint that when you do a
good deed you just reward it more when you read the kuran you're rewarded more when you perform
dikr you're rewarded war reward it more when you perform your dua and you perform your prayers and
all you're rewarded more so here even if you do just a small act of kindness of charity it has a
profound act on our scales. So I want you to imagine the scenario of during the month of Ramadan,
a person donates just one dollar to help those in need. This seemingly small act can multiply
and reward. And Allah supanahua ta'ala has promised to reward those good deeds tenfold or more,
in which the authentic hadith, the promise of Allah a.a'u ariu. also taught us that there is nothing
placed in the balance that is heavier than goodness of your achlac or goodness of your character.
And during the month of Ramadan, we should strive to perfect our character and to better our character.
And this is something that, as Justice says, it's a very simple act, right, of charity.
It's a very simple act of intention, of sincerity.
Throughout that, can really tip your scale towards paradise.
And the same applies when it comes to your bad deeds, which is why, you know, we must also be aware of our bad deeds as they can tip the scale against us.
And Allah, Sufanahu, a.p.a.p.a. a. a. a. a. a. a. a.
warns those in the Quran
just like the ayah I mentioned before
he says in those whose scales of
good deeds are light
they are those
who have lost themselves
and in hell
will be their abode or their abide right
and they will abide there in hell
and what this means is that
it might sound interesting like wait
there are good deeds or light what it means is that you have not
done enough good deeds you've done a lot
of a lot of bad deeds that outweigh
your good deeds and it makes your good deeds small
and it makes them
very light. So it's very crucial to remember that the weight of our deeds is solely based on our,
not on their quantity, but on their quality and their intention, which is why the Prophet
of Allah al-a-a-a-le-a-hu-sallem also emphasizes in authentic hadith. He said,
deeds are only in accordance with their intentions and every person will have that of what he has
intended. So their deeds and what they do is only going to be in accord with what their intentions are.
So if this month of Ramadan, you attend to do something for the sake of Allah, you intend to do something good,
you get the reward of that. And if you tend to do something bad, then you'll get the reward
of that as well, or the punishment of that, but your reward will be punishment. So trying to
engage in acts of iBada is very important, especially throughout the month of Ramadan. And it's also
something else that I want you to also imagine, right? Imagine you're in a scenario or a situation
where someone engages in gossip or speaks ill of another person. This act, though it may seem very small,
very in, you know, very, you know, incapable of doing anything can actually weigh heavily against them,
which is why the Prophet of Allah a. He waslam said, beware of, uh, beware of, uh,
suspicion, right, or suspicion because it is what is among the worst tales and do not spy on
anyone or one another and do not compete with one another and do not hate one another and do
not turn away from one another. And be, O service of Allah, brothers.
So this hadith kind of brings us to the point that even if someone has wronged us, even if they don't wrong, be quiet because your whole fast can be neglected.
Your whole fast can be erased from your account.
And just imagine you spend the homathar Ramadan working and working and working in all that one particular night, that one particular word you said, brought all of your good deeds, all of your fasting, all of the rewards to nothing, right, to a ground level.
It was as if you just decimated everything with one word that you said or with one action that you did.
So trying to remember, like I said before, that your intentions are pure and that you're also staying away from that, which is bad.
And if you actually have someone who is messing with you or who is harming you or they want to harm you or they're abusing you or they're doing anything like that,
one of the things which we've been taught in the sunnaheufi sunnahe of the Propheti Sunnahe of the Prophet of Allah a while is to say an assaim if it is a man and to say an assaima if it is a woman.
I am fasting. Indeed, I am fasting. You say it twice. You say I am fasting.
and also to remember that these things, my dear brothers and sisters, can come from the Shetan.
I remember I was asked a question this once as well of, you know, how is it that your good deeds through Adamata of Ramadan are actually less sometimes, and your bad deeds are actually amplified, even though the Satan's are changed.
And it doesn't come from the Shetan.
It actually comes from your heart.
Because every time you do a sin, it is like a dot that is put on your heart, and then it continues to accumulate.
And if you have not repented, if you and I saw the forgiveness of Allah, by the time you get to the matto Ramadan, now your heart is clouded.
Now the things that are supposed to be softening the heart aren't softening it.
You soften it for just a quick second, and then after that it turns to nothing.
It says if you are throwing dust in your eyes, but your eyes just rejected, whatever, right?
And I don't want to give that example too much.
But if you do it, it kind of reminds you of this, right?
You find people who they might listen to a reminder of Allah supper and what I tell you out of Ramadan and they cry, but then they go back 30.
seconds later and go do something that's like, do we not just listen to a reminder about this such
such thing or about something similar to this or about a sin or about this or whatever? And it's not
because of, you know, the fact that the shetan are here, but it's actually just because of the fact
that their good deeds are over or overpowered by their bad deeds. Right. So their good
bees would be considered light. Like I mentioned in that hadith that their good deeds are considered
light and they will end up losing themselves, which is why the hadith is very important. Because when
it comes to a single act, a single bad act, it can actually weigh heavily upon our scales.
They can weigh heavily upon our hearts. It can weigh heavily upon us. So try my dear brothers
and sisters to ensure that you're controlling your tongue like we spoke about in another episode
of our series. Try to ensure that you are, you know, considering doing more good, reciting more
Quran, busy yourself with remembrance of Allah. If you have not done enough these last 10 nights and
you feel like you haven't done enough, the best advice I can give all of you is actually just to
quit the things that you're doing right now for the time.
period, even if it's something that may be, you know, of a very big importance to a certain degree.
I'm going to give you that example. We only have about 30 seconds, maybe about a minute left.
If you're doing a job and you're so busy with this work, find time and make time for Allah as well.
If all you did that whole day was work and then 10 minutes before the Adan for Maghru comes in, now you want to start, oh, man, I regret, I didn't do enough today.
You keep doing the schedule for the next of the first 20 days.
Now we are in the last 10, 9 or 10 days, midter versus the last 10 nights.
make it an effort that you make time for Allah and don't waste the time doing things that are useless.
And I'm not saying that if you're working a job, you should just quit the job and say,
you know what, my relationship with Allah is more important.
It is more important.
But at the same time, you also need a house and you also need to, you know, still have wealth and still have the things that you need in your life.
But I am saying if it's something that you know that you're neglecting your time with,
oh, I'm scrolling on, you know, such a social media app.
Oh, I'm doing this.
I'm doing that.
I'm wasting my time.
I'm looking at this.
I'm looking at that.
Then take those things out of your life, my dear brothers, and sisters,
replace it with something good and we ask Allah suhpana to grant us the ability
to be among those who scales are heavy with good deeds my brothers and sisters as we
continue to the last tonights of Ramadan perform our good deeds and I say it to myself first
perform our good deeds that you know are going to in shah Allah tip the scale and our favors
whether it is through charity whether it is through kindness whether it is maintaining good
character every small deed counts so we must be diligent against our you know
very our bad deeds
and we must ensure that they do not
weigh us down because they can't. They can weigh us down very
deep. And we must make a conscious
effort as well to accumulate our good
deeds and to avoid actions that may harm
our scales. We ask Allah Zappaanurah
to grant us the ability to perform good
deeds that please him and to forgive us for our sins
or our shortcomings. We ask Allah
Sapaan our who skills are heavy with good deeds.
Forgive us for our sins, our shortcomings and grant us on the
straight path. Amin.
We're a good. I'maqru. Al-a-a-houndul-il-a-ha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
all of my brothers and sisters for coming in tonight.
I ask Allah,
to bless us all with a blessed last night.
Inshallah, like I spoke about before,
and I said for Maghreb,
if you want to go back and listen to that talk
I spoke about when it came to, you know,
the last tonight in worship.
And if we started Ramadan on the lung,
did the right day and the wrong day.
We ask Allah to forgive us all
and guide us all, my dear brothers and sisters.
So, inshallah, we will go ahead and go
and commence with the rest of our night.
Assalamu ala and a lotharmatulah and my brothers and sisters.
