Starting point is 00:00:09 Bismillah, Rahman, and al-hemulah, Rhabelalalameen, and Salatu, and the Rasmuililh, and al-Alihi, and Aishabi, and Ais, Aishe, and Aishe, and Aishe, and Ais, and my brothers and sisters, and myraqathe, and your brothers and sisters, to rejoice for our sins, our shortcomings, and to regards to special mercy not only in this life
Starting point is 00:00:28 and mainly in the next. But your brothers and sisters, al-h-h-h-l-a-a-a-a-mean. We know that tonight, marks, if we cite the moon, by the way, I'm going to mention that first, but inshall-l-l-h-l-h-l-haw-in tonight, moon tonight, it will mark the beginning of a new year. 1448. It will mark the beginning of Muharram, beginning of 1448, a new year. And we know that right now it is close to the time
Starting point is 00:00:50 of Maghrib, inshallah, so I will keep this shorter. But we know that as the sun sets for the year of 1447, we stand at a moment that few people stop to reflect upon. We often celebrate the beginning of a new year. We make plans, we set goals, and we think about what is ahead. But before we rush into 1448, there are some final questions that we have to ask ourselves, not questions from society, not questions from our friends, not questions from our employees, but questions from the, our soul and our hearts must answer before Allah, suhpano, His Allah. Because every year that passes is not simply just another number. It's a portion of our life that will never return. And Allah's upon our what I actually mentions this in the Quran and he says, and he, it is,
Starting point is 00:01:34 who made the night and the day succeed one another for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude. So every passing day is a reminder, every passing month is a reminder, and every passing year is a reminder. We're moving closer to our meeting with Allah, Suhpana, and the first question is where did this year go? Where did 1447 go? Because just yesterday, we woke up, and just yesterday we had, you know, our breakfast and we ate and we went through our daily lives. And then after that, we went and we look up and it's like, all right, we sighted the moon. And 1447 has begun. Think back at that beginning.
Starting point is 00:02:15 What were your goals? What were your hopes? What were the promises that you made to Allah, Supperanahua'u, and what has changed? Because for some, this year brought joy. For others, it brought hardship. For some, it brought success. and for others it brought tests. But regardless of what happened, this year has now passed.
Starting point is 00:02:35 And I want you to go back and think, how did you start this year off? Sorry, how did you start the year off? What did you think about? What were your main goals? I want you to reflect upon that for a minute. What did you start with? Did you say, I'm going to read more Quran,
Starting point is 00:02:50 I'm going to get more closer to Allah, Suhpana, Heu, Tala. In a year, I want to be from this point to this point. I want to be a better person. I want to get more closest to a world. I want this, I want that, I want this, I want that. Did you do that? And if you did, like I said, we all had goals. It doesn't matter if they are the biggest goals ever, or they're the smallest goals.
Starting point is 00:03:08 We still had goals. And whatever those goals were, ask yourself, now at this point, as we are now heading into 1448, have I actually hit those goals? Did I actually keep those promises? Have I become a better person? Have I changed into a better person? Have I grown a better relationship with Allah, have I closed the gap between me and Allah,
Starting point is 00:03:32 have I opened up a new window for me to go? Have I opened up a new area and a new life for myself? Because we know that sometimes our past is how it used to be, but now we come to the future. We are now, inshallah, entering 1448. And what do we say? Have I changed? Have I turned?
Starting point is 00:03:54 Have I become? something better? Am I more successful this time? Because we know that the Prophet of Allah al-a-u-Slam said that on the day of judgment, people will feel as though they remained in this world for only a short period of time. So the years that once felt like, you know, they felt long will seem like moments and they'll seem very short. And those decades will feel like days. And because this dunya is temporary and the ahera is forever. And when I mentioned did you move closer to Allah suhphan or how it's a a la that is one of the most perhaps important questions you can actually ask out of all the questions here this is
Starting point is 00:04:33 probably one of the most important questions you can ask because it's not about how much money did I make it's not how many followers that I gained it's not how much recognition did I receive but did I move closer to Allah subhan or how it wasata is my Salah stronger today than it was a year ago is my relationship with the Quran stronger have I increased in sincerity have I increased in patience have I increased and gratitude because success in Islam is not measured by worldly achievements and materialistic things, but rather success is measured by closeness to Allah, by your Ibadha, by your vicar, by your deeds.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Because if a year passes and our connection with Allah suhpaniahua ta'a has grown, then it was a successful year regardless of the worldly outcomes, regardless of whatever happened. Whether or not you gain, whether or not you lost, whether or not you face these hardships or not. As long as you gain closeness to Allah, and you bettered your deeds, and you sought forgiveness, and you tried your absolute hardest to make a better connection with Allah, you perform more vicar, you gain closeness to Allah through the Quran and through the Qur'an and through theqred and through your prayer.
Starting point is 00:05:39 All of this, all of this is success in the eyes of Allah, subhannahua'a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a. Not your money, not your fame, that your followers of your recognition, none of it, because all of it will stay behind. and my brothers and sisters, if this, if this was my last year, would you be ready? Would you be ready? If this were your last year, would you actually be ready? Yeah, Ibad Orahman, many people, including myself sometimes, we begin 1448, and, you know, we started off and we had people around us, and we, you know, maybe had friends, we had family, we have loved ones, people around us. But today they are no longer here.
Starting point is 00:06:19 They are no longer with us. And some of them were young, some of them were old, some of them were short, some of them were tall, some of them were strong, some of them were weak, some of them were close to Allah, Supan or Hu'u'u'u'ahah in relationship with him, and some of them were further in relationship with him. But death does not wait for your permission. It does not wait for me to say, okay, now you're allowed. I have now allowed you to take my soul so I can return back to Allah, Supperan or Hu'adah. I believe I've done good enough. It is not wait for us. It is by the command of Allah, Supperahua'u'a'u'a.
Starting point is 00:06:49 subhpana her what's the one who schedules when our death is going to happen. Death does not consult our schedules. Death arrives exactly when Allah has decreed it to arrive. Imagine if tonight, right? Right now it is almost time for Maghrib, inshallah, and about 20 minutes or so. Imagine if tonight was the final night of your life. Would you be satisfied with your preparation? Would there be any deeds you wished you had done?
Starting point is 00:07:17 sins you wish you had abandoned, people you wish you had forgiven, because the Prophet Allah Allah a He waslam advised us to live in this world as travelers. Travelers do not become attached to temporary spots, and temporary stops in which they're going to be at for a short period of time. Their eyes remain fixed on their destination, and our destination is not this dunya. Our destination is genusufth al-a-a-a-da-a-a-a-a-and it is ultimately meeting Allah subhahua-a-a-a-a and being in the pleasure of Allah, subhahua-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a ask Allah-suphani-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Starting point is 00:08:02 and even our loved ones who will be left behind. The Prophet of Allaha-a-a-a-u-slam also taught us that they are are three things that follow the deceased, your family, your wealth, and your deeds. Two remain, and one goes. One goes to you. What I mean by remained is, by the way, it stays on this dunya. So two remain on this dunya. Two stay, and then one is only going to be with you, and that is your deeds. So think about that. When 1447 is recorded in your books of deeds, what will be written there? How many prayers? How many acts of charity? How many tears shed in repentance? How many moments spit remembering Allah, Sufana, Hewitada, because those deeds are the true investment that never loses value.
Starting point is 00:08:53 What legacy are you leaving behind? Every one of us is writing a story, because every action is a sentence, and every day is a page, every year of the chapter. What chapter was 1447 for you? Was it a chapter of growth, repentance, service, learning, returning to Allah, Sufana-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a, or was it a chapter lost in distraction? The beautiful thing about Islam is that no matter what the chapter look like, Allah-Supon-a-haw-a-da still allows for us to begin a new one. Through sincere toba, Allah-Sapha-ha-ha-a-a-to-a-to-a-to-a-a-counter can become a righteous-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a can become a heartful of remembrance of Allah, subhannahu, and a distant servant can become one beloved by Allah,
Starting point is 00:09:38 subhannahu, brothers and sisters, Ya ibado rhamman, we come to the final question and the question that matters more than any of the other ones. If I stand before Allah, if me and you stand before Allah, Allah, Sufana hua, today,
Starting point is 00:09:56 what answer will I give him? Because one day we all will stand before our Lord, our Lord, no wealth, no followers, no excuses, no hiding, only ourselves and our deeds. And Allah, Suhpanao'u'll ask us about our lives, our time, our blessings, our knowledge, and our actions. And on that day, every second of our lives will matter, including every second of 1447, every second of 1446 and 1445 and 1440, every single minute, every single second will matter. And as we close out this year, let us not merely turn a calendar page, but let us turn a page in our hearts. Let us leave behind the sins, leave behind the excuses, leave behind this
Starting point is 00:10:41 procrastination, leave behind the distractions. Enter 1448 with sincerity, enter it with purpose, enter it with repentance, enter it with a renewed commitment to Allah, Sufana hurwata. Because we don't know whether or not we will see the end of 1448 or whether or not we will get the chance to see the beginning of 1449. We may not even see the end of this month. We may not even see the end of today. But we do know this, that the best preparation for tomorrow is obedience today. The best preparation for death is righteousness today.
Starting point is 00:11:12 The best preparation for meeting Allah, Supperu, Tala, is turning back to him today. May Allah, supanahua Tala forgive us of our sins and our shortcomings throughout 1447. We ask Allah, Allah, Supperu, to accept our good deeds. We ask Allah, subhannahu, T.a. to accept and grant us sincere repentance. We ask Allah, subhanna, Hei. to erase our sins. We ask Allah, subhanna, Hewata, to allow 1448 to be a year of faith, guidance, mercy, and closeness to him. We ask Allah, Suhanna, to gather us together in genital for those al-a-a-la with the Prophet of Allahe-a-u-Slem. We ask Allah, subhanna-a-a-a-a-to-make this muhram a beginning of goodness, and let our
Starting point is 00:11:55 end be with your pleasure and paradise we ask Allah subana her to forgive us to forgive what has passed and bless what is to come we ask Allah supranahua how to keep our hearts firm upon his obedience and make our after better than our worldly life we ask Allah subpoena ho to aata to make this year a year of mercy guidance and closeness to him I mean we're that one al-hambhala a manu al-a-a-lehah and my brothers and sisters inshallah to see you for Salat al-Magribu and all right of all right of all right and
Starting point is 00:12:27 all right
