And I should know that Muhammad and abduh and Rasmu.
Assalamu alaqmah and barakatu,
ya i bada rachman,
and my brothers and sisters in Islam.
I pray that everyone is doing well and I ask Allah,
to forgive us for our sins and our shortcomings
and to grant special mercy not only in this life,
remain the next.
My dear brothers and sisters.
Today I want to speak about a very beautiful
and blessed day in the Islamic calendar,
and that is the 10th of Muharram.
And we know that the beautiful and blessed month of Muharram,
the month of Allah,
Allah is coming and inshallah we ask Allah suhpana how it to grant us the ability to witness it and to utilize it and for us to witness many more of these Muharrams, these beautiful and blessed muharams and to allow for us to become even better every single muharram we witness. I mean we know that this beautiful and blessed month of Muharram holds a very beautiful and blessed day of the year in the start of the year as well and that is the day of Ashura and many Muslims know that Ashura is a day
of fasting, but sometimes we forget the deeper lessons and wisdom behind it.
Ashura is not just a day on the calendar, but rather it is a mind as a reminder of our faith, patience,
gratitude, and ultimately our trust in Allah, Suhanna, Hewatea.
There was once in which the Prophet Salah, A. He was arrived in Medina and found the Jews
fasting on this day, particularly.
And when he asked why they replied that it was the day, Allah saved Prophet Moses,
alex and the children of Israel from pharaoh right or from pharaon pharaon and the prophet
sallah alexand replied to this and he said that we have more right to musa than they do we have
more right to musa than we do and then he fasted on that day and encouraged Muslims to fast on that day
as well so it teaches us our first lesson in the first lesson here that teaches us is ashura as a day
of gratitude. And Allah,
Suhanna-a-u-ta-a-a-a-a-shu-ta-a
rescued Musa-A-A-A-A-Slam from one of the
greatest tyrants in history. And when
Allah-Supon-au-Tara granted victory
and relief, Musa-A-A-Slam showed
gratitude. Likewise, when
Allah-Supon-Hawatt blesses us with guidance,
health, family, wealth,
or even another day of life,
we should thank him. And the
fasting on the day of Ashura is
an act of gratitude to
Allah-Safan-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
as it reminds us that every blessing comes from Allah and deserves our thanks.
Now, Ashura also teaches us to trust in Allah, Suhpanao, His Allah.
I want you to imagine the situation of Musa, a.
He-Slam, behind him was Feraun and his army, and in front of him was the sea, right?
And I want to clarify this before, you know, we go deeper into details.
This was not an ocean, right?
This was not a river, you know, ocean's way bigger than seas.
But this was a sea, right?
And the people with Musa a.
A.uza al-He-salam thought that there was no escape.
But what did Musa al-Ai-Salam say in response to that?
He said, indeed, my lord is with me.
He will guide me.
And then Allah, Suhpaniahu, it is allowed for the sea to split.
He split the sea.
Right?
He split the sea.
And I want to bring this up because how many times is it that we are facing problems in our lives?
We're facing difficulty.
Things are happening.
We may be going through certain problems.
financial problems, financial struggles, family difficulties, personal hardships, or spiritual challenges.
Ashura reminds us that when the believer places their trust in Allah, Supanahua'a'a'u-ta-a-a-law opens that door
that they never imagined could be opened. They didn't see. They wanted the door that was right in front of them.
They wanted to just be able to get this job. But Allah-Supon-a-ha-ha-a-a-a-ha brought them another way and then another way and another way
to grant them what they needed.
Sometimes, Allah,
so, Allah, grants you that instant what you need, instantly.
Oh, I made a dua'a for this.
I put my trust in Allah, Sufana Hu, T'u, ta'a.
I take action, and Allah, subhahua'u'a,
granted me this, what I asked for.
But other times, it may be delayed
for a specific reason,
and that reason is only that Allah,
Sufanahu Tala knows.
And when it comes to the reasoning behind it,
we have to have patience,
because we ultimately do not know why
Allah, Suhpanao'u'a'a'a delayed
that do I or delayed that request that we have or he placed those challenges within those time periods that we did but we do know one thing is that and that is that we must have patience and this moves on to the third lesson of Ashura and that is that Ashura teaches us patience during trials and because every prophet and I've spoken about this before I've spoken about this and talks about hardship every prophet faced hardship Musa alayi Salam faced Faraun Nuh was rejected Ibrahim was thrown into a fire Muhammad
and sallah a lehahue and shaltz,
face persecution and hardship.
And the path of Allah,
subhanna, His Allah is not always going to be easy.
You're going to face difficulty.
You're going to face hardships.
You're going to face denial.
You're going to face rejection.
And everything sometimes is going to feel
as though it's crumbling down on you.
But ultimately, it is actually uplifting you
because we know that these trials are not
a means to break us,
and it means for us to quit our religion
and acquit our closeness to Allah,
subhannahua but rather it is a means of us trying to be closest to Allah
subhannahua and build a better relationship with Allah saffana and when life becomes difficult
remember that the greatest people who walk this earth were tested the most and Ashura reminds us
that patience leads to victory and that hardship will last that hardship will only last for a short
period of time the hardship will never last forever because of course in this new year is
assessing as hardship you know after a certain period of time there's nothing is forever
when it comes to our hardship.
But just remember that even Allah
Sufanaoara mentions it in the Quran
in which he says that with that hardship
comes ease.
With that hardship comes ease,
which you must be patient.
For Allah supanahua huaata is with the patience.
With the patience, sorry, not the patience,
with the patient.
Now the fifth thing that Ashura teaches us
and reminds us of is be hereafter.
Now Muharram marks the beginning
of the new Islamic year.
A new year reminds us that our time
in this world is limited
because every second, every minute, every hour, every day that passes by
continues on gaining us closeness to our ultimate destination,
which is going to be in hereafter.
Ask Allah, Sufana-ahua-a-ta-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
Every year that passes brings us closer to our meeting with Allah-Safana-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
And the believer should ask, am I closer to Allah today than I was last year?
Have I improved my sala?
Have I increased my Quran?
Have I prepared for my a-kha-a-h-hra?
Have I prepared for my meeting with Allah,
subhanahua-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ha-a-ha-a.
And Ashura is not only about remembering the past,
but rather it is about preparing for our future with Allah,
saffanihuata.
Yeah, Ibado-rahman, let us make the most of this blessed and beautiful day,
and especially this blessed and beautiful year that, inshallah, is to come.
Because this might be our last year, and this might be another one of our years
that gains us more closeness to Allah, Sufanohu, and this might be the last time that
we get a chance to change, and we get a chance to renew, we get a chance to fast,
and we get a chance to ultimately better our relationship with Allah, Sufana-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
If you know, you look in the Islamic calendar,
this is actually the last Friday of Duhl Hijja.
This is the last Friday of the next Friday,
the next Friday will be in Muharram.
It will be in 1448.
So, my brothers and sisters,
remember that ultimately,
this time of Ashura is a time for gratitude.
It is a time to trust Allah,
Supperna, His God.
It is a time to be patient in those times of difficulty.
Ashura is a day of seeking forgiveness as well.
Ashura is a day of seeking forgiveness.
And the Prophet of Allah, Allah, Allah, He waslam mentioned this as well
about how fasting on this day of Ashura
grants you beautiful rewards as well.
This is a very tremendous gift from Allah, supranahua,
being that it also expiates your sins as well.
And many of us carry our mistakes, our regrets, and our shortcomings in Ashura.
And ultimately, Muharram is an opportunity for us to turn back to Allah,
seek his forgiveness, and begin the new year with a shortcomings.
they clean heart in a renewed intention.
So my brothers and sisters,
I ask Allah,
to make us amongst those
who trust him in times
of difficulty,
thank him in times of ease,
remains steadfast in times of,
remains steadfast upon his religion
until we meet him.
And I also ask Allah,
to accept our forgiveness,
accept our tobba from us.
