Like in, uh, there's an evil giant hound that likes the taste of Baskervilles. Oh, this place is something. I mean, it's fast. Well, come on, Sherlock says we should talk with the Barrymore's.
Starting point is 00:02:12 I guess this place is yours now, then. A good look with it. Rosemary's your staff. And not you. Oh, him the underkeeper. You're a good shot. There's a big job. Well, that Notting Hill murderer, better hope he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:02:25 come around this way. Look at your face. You must be rosemary. You never heard from me Sherlock because of the internet situation. There's someone out there. The man on the moor. I need you to slow down. This fog is... I can't see two feet in front of me. They're probably like lights for hikers and tourists and stuff and cheers to an incredibly beautiful woman. Is that you? Morning. You okay? Sick. Oh, I feel so, so crap. I'm going to go back to bed, I think, so... Mariana, there was a woman in this house, bawling her eyes out.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Well, it wasn't me. Well, seeing as you haven't had a peek inside, I'll show you this storage chest. Check this out. That's the girl from the pub last night. Goodness me, look at this. What? John Watson, wow-wee! And you're...
Starting point is 00:03:18 Jack Stapleton. And you? This is Beryl. My sister. Sister. They're watching Frank and Rosemary. Mariana, we're heading out. Dinner at a posh manor house. Go back. It's not safe. Go back to London.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Piercing yellow glow of eyes of giant fangs. Hello? Who are you? Who are you? What do you want? Mary! Mary! Mary! Mary!
Starting point is 00:04:04 Mary! Mary! Ah! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Starting point is 00:04:13 Ha! Ha! Oh! Oh! Ah! And... Help me! Somebody help me please!
Starting point is 00:05:06 Oh no no no Hello! Oh my god, a house, a house, a house, a house! Open the door! Open the fucking door, please! Please! There you go John. Thank you Jamie.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Do you want a snack? Do you want a stronger drink? Do you want to cry? Yes please, thank you. You saw it. I did, yeah. It was glowing, Jamie. Its eyes.
Starting point is 00:06:29 It's teeth. I know. I know. I know. Have you seen it too? At the window? the window and um i've heard the stories sure yeah the stories is henry okay i i don't know i um i went out by myself why because i'm going bloody insane i think i i don't i don't know i just
Starting point is 00:07:09 Sherlock. John, do you want me to call Sherlock? What? We can call him. You've got signal? Yeah. I live here, John, not in a crumbling mansion but in an actual cottage with internet. Oh, uh, please. Yeah, can I, um, can I do that, please? Of course. I'm, my, um, the water's a bit hit, miss a basketball hall. Can I have a shower too? Would that be okay? I'll put the water on. Thank you mate. Thank you. One. Oh, there you are.
Starting point is 00:08:22 What? Great, thanks mate. No message at all. Assuming. I guess you must know about the signal. Yeah. Oh shit. Shitting, shitting shit, come on, Sherlock.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Um, let's, um... Uh, hello Sherlock, it's me. Uh, long time, no, well, long time no speak by our standards. Hey mate, probably the longest we've gone without talking in the last two years. Um, it's bloody late, I know, but, uh, uh, You know, I thought you'd be up violining and all that. Look, I think we should have a chat, a meeting, touch base, as they say, regarding the case, the client. And, yeah, I could do it with some words of wisdom.
Starting point is 00:09:24 So, yeah, try any one of us when you get this, me, Henry, Mariana, then failing that, Jamie, he has internet. Yeah, um, okay, well, hope your London case is going well, and yeah, catch up soon. Um, bye, mate, bye, bye, bye. Ah, you're losing it, mate, you're losing it. It's nice to have the company. Ah, yeah, rural life gets lonely, I bet. No. What this place is doing to you? It's nice to know it wasn't just me.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Sorry if that sounds selfish. No, no, um... Yeah, I get it. Are you seeing things? Hearing things. Um... Well, the thing I saw has been well documented. But, yeah, hearing...
Starting point is 00:10:42 Hearing something. Is it the howls? The death cries out there. What is it? It's something impossible. Try me. It's the voice of... someone i loved yeah yeah she's dead past she died last year um about a year ago this week actually
Starting point is 00:11:20 mary mary most then yeah how do you know long-time listener first-time client Oh, heck, can I use your, um, your laptop to just do some admin bits? Of course. The phone batteries. John, hmm? It's fine. Anything you need. Okay?
Starting point is 00:11:48 Mm-hmm. Police on the way? What? Did you call them? No? Why? The light's out there, flashing. Up on cleftor, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:01 What's that? Just a... Well, a tour. A granite outcrop. Yeah, but there's two of them out there, flashing. No, the one way over there as well, you mean? Yeah. That's Baskerville Hall, that one.
Starting point is 00:12:15 No. It is, yeah, it's... You see, the top floor. The dormer window. Right, someone must be up. No, it's been like that for weeks. Late at night, these flashes go back on force. For weeks?
Starting point is 00:12:30 Mm-hmm. They don't. I don't think they do, because... They do, John. Well, I would have seen them. I think your room faces this way, doesn't it? Yeah, I suppose it does. No, no, but I've been in the house at night. There's no lights on.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Well, it's at the top. Top of the house. Watch. Who's doing that? I don't know. You should sleep. No, I want to. The internet can wait, John.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I think... Jamie. Please. I said, I can see something. I said, I can see something, Nile. There, that's all. I can't see anything, Anne. What am I supposed to be looking at?
Starting point is 00:13:36 Because I... Don't move. Good God almighty. Shh, shh. Wait. It's coming for us. It's coming. It's coming. No way.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Good God Almighty. Shh, shh, shh. Uh, wait. It's coming for us. It's coming. It's coming. Jamie. What time is it?
Starting point is 00:14:18 Uh, 3am. Weird. Time for a visitor? Yeah. Um. I'll, um, I'll come down with you. Thanks. Be now looking for ya.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Hi Frank. I had you. I said, I can see something, Nile. Well, what? Bloody what? Just point your phone over there. Don't... Move.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Move. Shh, shh. Morning. Hey, great fire. You see my jacket, my dad's jacket. My dad's jacket in my whiskey-fueled days. In my whiskey-fueled days, I put it somewhere. How are you feeling?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Hangover from hell? John? Oh, hey, you got internet. I downloaded it at Jamie Mortimer's house. At Jamie Mortimer's house? Mm-hmm. What is that? Wait, what were you doing at Jamie's house?
Starting point is 00:15:44 I was running away. From that. Can we rewind this sec? Yeah, sure. to make it any less real? Not the clip, the situation. What's going on? What did you do last night?
Starting point is 00:15:58 Where's Mariana? No, she's not in her room. Jesus Christ. Who made this video? It hasn't been made. Henry, it is a visual account. Someone hit record, then they hit upload, mate. An upload of...
Starting point is 00:16:12 Of huge glowing eyes and fangs. Yeah, exactly like the account said. Exactly like Jack Stapleton said. Henry, what are you doing at night? What? What are you doing? Are you up, with the light on? It, here? Am I awake here at night with the light on? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:30 No, no, I'm not. Right. Sure, okay, fine. What is going on? You, did you go out last night? Like, in the middle of the night? Yeah. Why? Because I heard something. What did you hear? John?
Starting point is 00:16:49 Are you pissed off with me? are you leaving yes with you to where to see her apparently you made the plans I'm just the bodyguard come on chop chop that's what they call it they do this place is actually called pixie land
Starting point is 00:17:06 and are these for sale or just the things in the gift shop I think says they're closing for the winter for the pixies to rejoin their folk on the moor and help the farmers to protect their cattle. So much for mischievous little creeps. Maybe I judged them too early.
Starting point is 00:17:29 The farmers befriended them. The visitors don't try, so... So they play tricks. Lead them astray. Is our resident storyteller enchanting you, Mr. Baskerville? I fear she might be doing just that, Jack. She has a gift, my sister. Through this way.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Speaking of gifts, I was just asking about her necklace, Jack. A beautiful thing, isn't it? Amazing, very striking. You're a good brother. Am I? You got it for me. I mentioned that to Henry earlier.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Of course I did, of course. From your jet-setting days. Yes, yes. I certainly picked up an exotic thing or two back then. I hope you're talking about jewelry, Jack, you dirty dog. Yes, very, very good. Did you guys grow up here on Dartmoor? No.
Starting point is 00:18:27 No, well, there was boarding school sort of wedged in there somewhere. Right. Very British. Was yours international barrel? My school? Yes, yes, hers was. Mine wasn't. She got sunshine and exotic languages all around her.
Starting point is 00:18:44 I got drizzle and rugby practice. Right. Because you, you've got the... complexion. I do, yeah. Our mother was darker, dark a toned, I'd say. We got a couple big
Starting point is 00:18:58 international schools in Toronto and you get this kind of global accent that just stews there, you know? Like French and British and American and Middle East and China, all this all goes into
Starting point is 00:19:10 one pot, one expensive pot. But yeah, your voice reminds me of that. Oh, right. No, I like it. It's, it's worldly in a place that's so... Hidden away? Right, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Long story short, I like your necklace.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Thank you. Jack, I was going to ask, is it always like this with the butterflies? Well, first a warm summer and now a bit of floral flush with the gorse and heather, of course. But this kaleidoscope is multi-species. some non-native Dartmoor's uplands are ideal as a sort of migration
Starting point is 00:19:58 stopover A little service station Yes exactly On the insect motorway This one is my favourite Your favourite butterfly You have a favourite butterfly I mean of course
Starting point is 00:20:12 The Black Swallowtail Yes She's not native to hear She doesn't mean to be here either. Just an accident, caught on the wind, swept up in a current from the Mediterranean. What's it called again? The black swallowtail. Well, it's a papillium macon. Old world swallowtail. The expert has spoken. I own one. Have done for a few years. You own one? It's dead. It's preserved. That is my profession of course.
Starting point is 00:20:50 to catch, house, and study these beautiful things. It would be a shame to let it back out into a wilderness it doesn't understand, into a landscape it cannot navigate. So I retain her until the end. Maybe all these beautiful colors and strangers of nature coming to these parts, maybe they're the inspiration for the pixies. Maybe. You don't seem so convinced.
Starting point is 00:21:24 I think it is you, Henry, that requires convincing. You're right about that. I fear we may be losing our Henry to this enchantress, John. Yeah, yeah. Perhaps we head down the Rugglestone, you and I. Let these two talk of their elves and fairies. John could do with a drink, right, bud? Uh, I'm supposed to stay with Henry, so...
Starting point is 00:21:53 You know, I'm... Sherlock told me not to let him out of my sight. Well, fair enough. We could all go, couldn't we? We'll probably meet you there. We've just got to check something out. Investigation-wise, right, Henry? Right.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Check out the big stars, big series, and blockbuster movies. Streaming on Paramount Plus. Cue the music. Like NCIS, Tony, and Ziva. We'd like to make up our own rules. Tulsa King. We want to take out the competition. The substance.
Starting point is 00:22:35 This balance is not working. And the naked gun. That was awesome. Now that's a mountain of entertainment. Paramount. You know what's better than the one big thing? Two big things. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:22:52 The new iPhone 17 Pro on TELUS' five-year rate plan price lock. Yep, it's the most powerful iPhone ever, plus more peace of mind with your bill over five years. This is big. Get the new iPhone 17 Pro at tellus.com slash iPhone 17 Pro on select plans. Conditions and exclusions apply. Tim's new Cravable Raps are made for the times your boss. said the what now or your teacher mentions that thingumabob need to pick me up snack back to reality with tim's new craveable wraps available in chipotle or ranch plus tax at participating restaurants
Starting point is 00:23:25 in canada for a limited time i'm saying you got in the way of me and her i'm not saying you're in the way of the investigation john what henry can you see why i'm annoyed henry in my list of priorities you shagging beryl stapleton is down there with finding your shoe your hat and your bloody jacket. I don't care. Yeah, see, that's a problem. That makes me not care. Not care about what? About the stupid dog. What are we even doing here? We've come to ask some questions. About what? About the stupid dog.
Starting point is 00:24:00 You're John, then? And you are Nile. Well, come in. We've lived here for a couple of years, haven't we? Nearly three? Yes, yes, nearly three. My mind. And just to clarify, you were hiking in the middle of the night on the 19th, is that right? Not hiking, no. In the video, you sort of seem to be traversing near Baskerville Hall.
Starting point is 00:24:27 No, so we are part of the committee. Sorry, sorry, and what's the committee? Ten tours. I'm just going to need this explaining, if that's... What were you doing out near my property the night my uncle... That's what he's asking. Thank you, Henry. Sorry, who is your uncle?
Starting point is 00:24:51 Are you serious? You've lived here nearly three years. I'm Henry Baskerville. My uncle was Sir Charles Baskerville. At Baskerville Hall, right. Of course. Yeah, that's right. Sorry, you two.
Starting point is 00:25:07 The famous good manners of the Canadians is having a day off, it seems. Ten tours is a major event. It's a two-day annual expedition, organized by ourselves at the Committee of the Dartmoor Trust and the British Army. Thousands, thousands, yes, thousands of teenagers take part in the hike from tour to tour,
Starting point is 00:25:29 but can be rather treacherous. We've had fatalities over the years, I'm afraid to say, rivers, rock falls, Myers. Yes, I'm familiar with Grimpen Meyer. Oh, yes, exactly, exactly. That's a place in question where we have to know that in low light or no light, due to this being a two-day event, we have to know that it's safe for the students.
Starting point is 00:25:52 Okay, myth No, Uno cracked. It wasn't the Pixies, it was you guys. And who made the video of the CGI Hound? Henry. Sorry, what? Grimpy Meyer. It has those lights that glow in the fog, right? It does, yes.
Starting point is 00:26:06 You put those down? Well, thanks for that. You probably saved us. Um, um, um, not our work, actually. Oh, okay. Um, me? I, I don't know. Oh, sure.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Sure. Anyway, I, um, I appreciate our work can seem rather boring, but, but it is simply safety recies and appraisals before the committee meetings, you know. If we do the work in the depths of winter, we don't get an accurate reflection of, of ground quality around the time of the expedition in spring so we do it now right i see so did this make it into your appraiser god almighty it did not why it's a giant black hound with glowing eyes and teeth seems a safety hazard to me they omitted it who's they the committee why because they didn't believe us So you released it online
Starting point is 00:27:08 That's right, yes Did you monetize it? Monetize it? Do you make money off these kinds of videos, Nile? No, Henry. What? What did you see that night, guys? We were in the hills above Baskerville Hall estate.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Firstly, for the tin mines. They still have openings, access points all over there. We have to assess them for, for safety. And arsenic, right? There's arsenic in those things? Well, yes, but you'll note it's opium now. That yellow residue on the walls and floor means that the arsenic has been extracted. Right. Okay. We were also plotting the routes through the mire for our maps, and we saw a torchlight, didn't we, in the distance. Where? By Baskerville Hall.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Where exactly by Baskerville Hall? Oh, um, what do you think, Anne? Uh, it was approaching the front gate, I think. Yeah, yeah. From what direction? From the house, from the drive? Uh, no, no, no. It was coming from the east off the Tavistock Bridalway.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Could you make out who, who was holding the torch, the flashlight? Well, we thought it one of ours, so we tried to see. signal, no response, and we headed over as we could take that route back to the car park and, you know, head home. We began our walk over, and it wasn't long until the torchlight vanished. I take it it didn't reach the driveway of the house. No, it was switched off before, but I know that house, they would have had to loop round to the front gate or climb the driveway wall. Yes, yes, they were. wood. So the stranger with the light disappears. Mm-hmm. And we decide to walk down towards the
Starting point is 00:29:14 house anyway, just to meet the road. And then, um, then we saw it, didn't we? Yes. Yes, we did. Have you seen much since? You guys are out there a lot, right? A man. Yeah. Us too. He's been in some of the old agricultural buildings. And it's not safe that they're falling to bits, but a few people have seen him moving in and out of those, apparently. I saw him on Hound tour. On the tour itself? Yes. Just stood there.
Starting point is 00:29:59 What did he look like? It was just his silhouette against the sunset, really. tall, long coat, just fixed in position, observing something. Yeah, sounds like the one I've been seeing. I suspect my man on the moor is your man on the tour. Hmm. Maybe. So what do you think this thing is?
Starting point is 00:30:29 A wolf? You say a hound. but what are we talking exactly big a big one so great dane newfoundland or i know the video doesn't do it justice sir but maybe maybe my forearm does what is is there a bite no shivers me too look a great dane and newfoundland a damn a damn dire wolf would not elicit this reaction. No. You would not keep my wife and I awake at night,
Starting point is 00:31:09 nor would it drive us near mad. Do you understand? Thank you both for your time. A light. A light. In the darkness, the lights on the moors. First, that beacon that shone out from Baskerville Hall every night, yes, speaking, communicating. But then, our visitor to the grounds on the night
Starting point is 00:31:41 of Sir Charles' death. One single point of light, then gone. But we do at least have it, Watson, that single point of light, and like the glints and glows in the fog of Grimph and Meyer, it can guide us towards truth. Hello, listeners, I'm still here, physically, if not mentally, it would seem, feeling a bit more invigorated. I mean, in terms of the case, after speaking with Nile and Anne, just had a constant voice in the back of my head. just permanent. What are you doing here? What have you actually done? What are you even trying to do?
Starting point is 00:32:39 And it's, yeah, I have a person, a light-wielding individual out at night near the property when Sir Charles dropped dead. I also have a hound, unfortunately. That does, however, mean I get to call out Carol Watson on her promise to me 30-odd years ago that there's no such thing as monster. So, yeah, wrong, Carol, wrong about Liz Truss, wrong about this. But, anyway, yeah, but, but, but, but my friends, who is the late-night wanderer? And what connection do they have to Sir Charles's death? That still needs, uh, yeah, still needs figuring out. I came back to the house, trying to work out where that nightlight is coming from, And the light is from where the Barrymore's stay.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Top floor, east wing, right where Jamie told me Sir Charles can find himself to. Looks like the Barry Moors are moving up in the world after the old man's death upgraded to the Master Suite, it would seem. So, yeah, just back at Sir Charles' storage chest. where Henry got his jacket. I remember Jamie said to me when we first met that Sir Charles, before he died, was going to go to London to meet with a solicitor, right? Wait, sorry, I'm pausing just because this paper is not like the others.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Everything else is legal and deeds and accounts. This is a letter. If you're reading this, then I have just left. We have reconciliated and I have a part of me back again. Know that I don't want anything from you but you. It's time to stop apologising to each other and make the most of what we have left and forget what we lost. LLXX. LLXX.
Starting point is 00:35:01 L L L X. It can't be a year, can it? Roman numerals for a... No, it can't be L, it's 50. No, can't look it up. Sake. Um... Mariana? Mariana? sleep already. It's only eight, Mariana. Are you, are you kidding me? Mariana. What? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:35:41 Why's it actually going on? Well, once again, my apparent colleague and companion, who is supposedly ill, is gone. I really have had just, what the, I? Hello? Hey, hello! Hey, hello! Henry, Henry, stop, stop right now. John, just leave it, okay? You're not going out there. I'm going for a drink with my new friend. Your new friend? Beryl.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Okay, I'm coming. No. Yes. I don't want you to come. She doesn't want you to come. You don't know that. Actually, I do know that. You don't?
Starting point is 00:36:18 I do. It's right here. Ruggleston in tonight, 9 p.m. come alone. No, this is... This is what? This is bollocks. Just... Look, I get it.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Okay, I get it. But can you just go to Jamie's tomorrow and call Sherlock? Just get him to figure this out. Henry? You're floundering, man. You're floundering. I'm not. You're walking these floors in the middle of the night,
Starting point is 00:36:47 shouting out for people, women, sobbing, hounds. Okay, I saw it. And you heard that girl of yours too. Is that what you're... Am I supposed to, you know? I'm sorry. That's cruel. I didn't mean that, it's just, that's where you maybe just need to check in with yourself.
Starting point is 00:37:10 It's important that you do that. What are you doing? Letting you go. Sure? Mm-hmm. Why exactly? Because a year ago, I was in your position. Somebody came into my life and I had people holding me back and,
Starting point is 00:37:31 Yeah, I should have just followed your heart. Exactly that. You have a good night. You too. And take a break. Okay? Sleep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Henry? Yeah. The whiskey? Kitchen cabinet. Next to the sink. A toast to John Watson's mind and mental well-being. I look forward to being reunited with you really soon, hopefully. Oh, God, oh my...
Starting point is 00:38:35 Shit! Oh, that bastard! Can I help, Rosemary? Oh, my God! Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to make you jump. Just, um... Yeah, let me help you with those. Good job it's Tupperware, eh?
Starting point is 00:38:47 Not porcelain or glass. You haven't... Oh, let me just get that one too. You haven't seen Mariana anywhere, have you? I have. Ah, okay. Great. Where is she? Don't know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Yeah. Join the club. What do you feed out there with these? Is it the pony? Why is your lots of session with this exactly? Sorry. Why is it? Do I have a big fucking label on my forehead that says please ask me all about my food containers? You don't have that note? Then why are you all asking about it?
Starting point is 00:39:19 Just making conversation. Oh, I can see why Londoners don't say a bloody word to each other if that's considered a conversation. Rosemary. Rosemary, can you come here a second? I won't be doing that, thank you. Rosemary. Good night. Yeah, sorry, I upset.
