Welcome to one of our Friday drinks episodes where we celebrate the money wins from our She's on the money community because there are so many great money wins and confessions shared every single week in our group and we spend a very big part of our day during the day in the office actually talking about these wins and this is a time to bring it to life so let's

jump straight into it Georgia King what was this week's deep dive on Vicky D this week we spoke about getting scammed and how to avoid getting scammed most importantly it was a big chat it was a good chat it was a big chat a bit of a heated chat a bit of a heated chat it was nice last year for anyone who's missed the show last year uh 176 million dollars was lost to scam so this is a massive issue that's a lot of cash money so one of the money wins we're going to get to from alice soon her win is real but it looked like a scam it's like the opposite oh really yeah and you'll know when i get to it but uh i would not have taken the money win that alice got because it looks scammy yeah well they're everywhere they take all different kinds of forms um and

I think the moral of the story was, like, no one's too smart to get scammed. All right. So, Ryan, this week our money diarist actually shared a really special story with us. Special, but would you say infuriating? Oh, my gosh. It really annoyed me. But at the same time, like, really powerful. Yeah, it was about a young lady who has chronic pain, which is bad enough.

But I think the fact that her employer didn't really seem to get it or be overly helpful. and I know that when we stopped recording, Victoria and I got real angry and we got real deep into it with our money diarist. And I think a lot of people, and Jess, you've been in the community a lot, a lot of response to that and a lot of people are in sort of,

I mean, all chronic pain stories are different, but a lot of people in a similar boat, right? A lot of people suffering silently, which I think it was really nice for us to kind of get that feedback and get to talk to people and have people say, wow, like nobody talks about this.

It's such a big thing. I didn't realize how many people in our community would relate to that money story. So it was really nice to hear that people were kind of resonating and they've been sharing links to different groups and communities and it's just been amazing. Well, I actually think we mentioned that once because she said, oh, I don't know anyone else in my situation.

I was like, surely there's Facebook groups and there's other people who are the same. And we've probably got 80 emails from other chronic pain sufferers. So I was like, even if we can just pull together. Because as we all know, having people with shared problems, you can share advice and support and stuff like that. yeah and you and i during that episode got really frustrated and we even ended up taking that conversation offline with our money diarist after to just be like is there any way we can help and

what can we do and ryan i have an update for you really she handed in her resignation and and she said she did it because she had a conversation with us and said yeah i actually need to find an employer who sees the value in me and i see the value in and i just don't want to be associated with them anymore so she slid into my dms on tuesday to let me know the good news but she's looking for a new role now and i just think that that's you know that's a really hard decision to make and so i'm really celebrating that this week well i think she that decision itself was driving her mad because she kind of knew that she had to go but you know it's it's some it's so easy for anyone else to be like oh just leave then but to actually have a think about

it do the numbers get yourself set up and make that decision yeah so i'm really proud of her and i like that we got a little bit of a money diary follow-up especially so close to their yeah diary that's awesome yeah oh and to that end um someone in the community izzy thank you said that medicare actually offers a plan for chronic disease management so for all of those people in our community who were saying they were also suffering uh it might be something worth looking into to see if they can help you out absolutely that's really powerful as well because sometimes you just don't know what you can have access to or not and you just i would not have known that existed if you haven't slid into our dms absolutely thank you izzy but i think it's now

I forgot about that because, and wait for it. Oh, wait, it's in one of his investment properties.

I was going to say, I don't actually live in that property. Rich guy problems. Anyway, can we all agree that the Smeg appliances as a whole are fancy as? Very fancy. So expensive. I'm in the market for a new toaster. I did not realize that a toaster could be more than $100, let alone $219. What the hell?

I would just like to let you in on a little secret. There is a Smeg dupe at Kmart. Exactly the same, $40. Money win. There's your win, folks. Have a great week. See you later. Nicole said they normally cost for an oven over $3,000.

I got mine for $950. What? How? Well, that's the thing. She kind of just dropped that comment and ghosted, and I'm like, I want answers, I want websites, I want links, I need details. Nicole, don't leave me hanging.

I'm going to need some insight. I bet she was a marketplace winner. I bet you she manifested it. Really? You reckon everybody manifests everything on Marketplace? 100%. It's a thing. Well, here's the one I mentioned before about scams.

Alice says, I got an email out of the blue from my university saying I'd won $1,000. Sure, you have scams. This is not a scam, right? Stinks of a scam. She goes, I thought it was sass, but I followed up. It was true. I got $1,000 from my uni and I used it to buy an iPad for my studies.

Money win! And like I said, I would just never click on that. no she obviously did the right thing and like checked into it though check the email that's my top tip check the email that your email comes from because no matter how legit it looks if it comes from dot xyz12794 probs knowledge yeah amazon australia.net yeah that is so true and this leads on to a money win or loss that i actually had a couple of years ago way back when i used to have a personal loan obviously bad decision for me we've learned we've lived we've moved on but there was a class action about the insurance on it and i ended up making about

three thousand dollars back on that which was crazy money win right but turns out my partner and i have two peas in a pod he also had a personal loan at some point and he thought it was a scam and he had his loan longer than me so he would have made way more than that but because he didn't join in on the class action he never got it and then he was like oh i thought it was fake oh he He could have bought a smeg oven. He could have bought two. All right. And Natasha said, there was an event at work that was sponsored by Pancake Parlor who brought

in these boxes of pancake mix. I stole $32 worth of pancake mix and had the greatest week of my life. I love this. She's like, and I had the greatest week of my life. Like, we know you did. I love Pancake Parlor. It's so good. I don't think I've ever been.

I love pancakes. I know I love pancakes. I used to actually sing on their ads. That's a fun fact. Didn't you? Yeah, I was their voiceover artist for a while. Really? Gosh, because you can sing sing, can't you?

Yeah. Well, people say it. But yes. Yeah. And I was there. I did their ads for a while. I'm in a position to get Tony to do our new intro to She's a Lover. What did you sing?

Like, was it a big opera song? No, no, no. Or was it like a cheesy little jingle? No, no, no. It was just a cheesy jingle. So every season, their jingle changed from, I like pancakes, you know you love pancakes, to like, God, it's freezing, forget about working.

Oh, my God, you sound exactly like it. Yeah. Thanks for verifying my story. I actually didn't believe you until Jess confirmed it. Jess's face just went, oh, wait, no, she's legit. Oh, that's so good. Just letting you guys know, one of the world's greatest puns is coming in the next few minutes.

That's huge. Because of the negotiation. She said instead of keeping us. And we did that. We did that. We did that. I mean, she made the call. She did that.

But, like, we were a part of it. taking credit taking it home bianca actually said instead of taking the 150 she's keeping it in there so she's paying off her loan even faster and bringing it down and there are some really cool calculators online i'm sure we can link one in the group this week of just how much additional repayments could be and i think a lot of people they're often like oh i really want to save money on my mortgage so you know save money each week and it's like no pay what you're originally paying and you could pay it off like 10 years earlier that's crazy yeah it's so good um i can't keep a straight face and do the pun all right we're ready you've got these we believe in you i actually

can't i cried laughing trying to explain it to someone and it's not that funny all right nobody take a sip of drink because we're gonna laugh outright no it's so embarrassing now annabelle pardo and pardo me if i pronounce that wrong uh we were that's what you came to the show with it was good is the pun still coming six out of ten that's what she said that's a six out of ten but But also, can we just talk about the lead up to that pun? Like, we got to the studio. He's been talking about it since we arrived, about how good it's going to be, and that's what it was.

It was bound to fall flat after that. Annabelle Pardo says, we got delivered the totally wrong grocery order. You all right, mate? Spit it out. Get to the point. Well, pardon me. We were delivered the totally wrong grocery order.

They then delivered the correct order the following day, and we got double groceries. Well done, Pardo. That's a win. That's good. That's a win. And not Elizabeth, not Liz, but Elizabeth is her name. She says, a hopefully soon-to-be money win.

I'm the co-owner of a food business and we're in the process of upscaling our kitchen. And could you imagine the cost of the equipment and stuff? Commercial equipment stuff is so much more than this mega oven that you would know how much it costs. Normally really expensive. And just as we were about to invest and buy all this stuff, We found a huge double-doored fridge on the side of the road.

What? Literally, like, talk about manifesting. Wow. The double-door fridge is, to me, a symbol of wealth. Like, I'm going to feel like I've made it when I have a double-door fridge. Oh, but this is like the kitchen. Oh, that's like what the rich, rich kids had. Yeah.

I used to see it as the ice maker. With the ice in the door. Like a double-door fridge with the ice in the door. Plumbed in. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's bougie. She said she knocked on the door because it was out the front of someone's house and said,

hey, I'm about to take that fridge. Is that fine? and didn't want to do the wrong thing. You know, you're halfway through moving house and you've just put it there before you move in and I'm actually a thief. And the guy said, hey, it's perfectly fine, probably just needs a service.

And she went, great, and took it. And it's currently getting serviced now, hence why it's the hopefully future money win. What a money win. Fingers crossed, Elizabeth. Stop being mean to Elizabeth's name. Was that spelt with an S? L-I-S?

Because that's like a traditional spelling of the name. Well, don't I just feel like an absolute... all right well we love the community and we love their money wins i arguably also like learning about my own team's money wins so how about we start with jessica rich i have a money win that is a follow-up from a money loss from a few weeks ago we love to see it i also love that you're tracking this you're like this is gonna change this is gonna become something else you're as soon as you hear you're gonna know what i'm talking about so a few weeks ago i parked at a wilson's car park prepaid my parking uh and then when i came out tapped my card it's meant to just

let you out and it charged me an extra 30 bucks so i paid like almost 60 for parking that day with my pre-booking and the extra are you picking this money win slash loss to just trigger me knowing my experience with the parking this week uh that was probably three or four weeks ago and today i finally got the email after registering my complaint that the money has been refunded nice oh good job how good is it for you i was getting ready to go full karen on them and call them and be like where is my money because i like sent them my thing being like hey like i booked like i've done everything right something's wrong in your system and you've charged me extra and that's not cool um but it just took them forever so that's my win what happened today with the

parking yesterday with the parking victoria divine did go full karen yeah it was what did you do It's not my proudest moment, but also I was really frustrated because the girl on the phone, what is it? Jess was in the car with me. She was so condescending and rude and I was just, I was not having it. I'd had a really long day and I was just like, no, you're not going to do this.

Not today, Satan. Not today. And so what happened was I prepaid for parking and when I went to tap my credit card out, which had let me into the car park. It's the same car park. It's the same car park, just really bad for it. tapped it said that it couldn't register my data so I clicked the intercom this has happened a

million times before unfortunately and every time I pick up the people on their phone are like hey sorry this happens all the time what's your registration and I tell them they look me up and they let me out great there's probably a note on your father like this is not worth your time just let her out literally so I did that and the guy that I got onto was like yep you'll have to pay the full rate again and obviously that's like I think $88 for a day and I was like no I'm not paying it like I pre-booked and they were like what's your booking reference and I'm like I'm really sorry your car park is underground I don't have reception I cannot get you the booking reference I've just tried it's not loading and they pretty much suggested that I got out of my

car went up the three stories got the booking reference got reception got reception got back in the car and got it for them and I was like look every other time you've looked it up by my number plate and all of this other stuff anyway back and forth and back and forth and they charged me again for me to go home because she said she didn't believe essentially that i had booked parking for me to go home and be able to then access the receipt so that was really fun guys sounds awful is anyone thinking we could make a lot of money from buying a car park yeah they must she's on the money car park like my dog will be there but seriously those buildings in the city it's like do we spend 10 million renovating these beautiful apartments or do we just make the

dank as smelly as concrete block and just charge people for it they would make bank on those exactly and they all smell like wee but you know what i want to hear about georgia king's money what a segue uh okay so this is a money win i think are you convinced you don't sound convinced well i guess what i've realized is that over the journey i have some money confessing to do so markets so people are always like go to the market yep you guys still love a market day I've written blogs about it. I'm like, you know, considerality, consider markets. It's a great way to save a buck instead of going to the supermarket.

Anyway, I've always gone to the Paran market or the South Melbourne market, and I've never really understood how it's such a money win because I'm there. It's a bull market. I go to the bougiest markets and I don't understand why it's so expensive. The cheese is $15. Yeah, I don't understand. They're the most expensive suburbs. What is going on?

I was not aware of that. In hindsight, it does make sense. But I went to Queen Vic on Saturday. Oh, that is a money win. Hooly dooly, guys, I bought as much fruit as I could bloody carry. It was coming out of my ears for the price of a slice of cheese from Proud Market, like $15, and I bought a week's worth of veggies. Far out.

Well done. How good is it, though? It is so good. I was there with hearts. We were like, this is heaven. I'm still so excited. I'm going to go back this weekend. I love that.

There's been a pair of sneakers that I've had my eye on for quite some time, probably six months that I've, I'm not wearing them now. Don't look at my face. We all just like, oh, let's check her feet. they're under the table and they're normally about two hundred dollars so i really agonized over them and i was like am i gonna wear them enough and i always boil all of my clothing purchases down to a five dollar rule so i work out how much i would have to wear a certain item for it to cost five

dollars a wear and if i think that i will do that i buy it and i'm happy to um but if i don't if i'm like okay that's three hundred dollars i'm definitely not gonna wear that x amount of times for that to make sense that's a good rule that's actually an epic rule i really like that so i do that with every single thing that i buy and these sneakers were no exception i was like oh i definitely wear them enough but i i finally was like you know what i'm just going to buy them i really really want them went online and they're 160 instead of two how good is that eight less wins that ate less that god damn it i was being you tried so smart you tried i like it do you want to have it take it from the top come on jessica ricci that is eight less wears that

If you found a MyKey on the train and you looked around and there's no one else there. No. No. I went to court for this.

This is her story. um so i caught the train in used my stuck on her face victoria stop looking at other people i got it i got it i got it i can do it all right from the top she needs the music in the background um i caught the train in to the city one day touched on like a good law-abiding citizen I am forgetful we've discussed this before somehow I lost my Mikey on the train left it there got all

the way to the um barricades where you tap out realized went back to the train back to where I was couldn't find it someone's picked it up so I go to exit it was Ryan go to exit there's ticket inspectors there that I tell them what happened they're like yep sure no problem um just let us no we'll send you a fine let us know we'll you know they'll clear it kind of thing came to you know got fine told them sent them proof that i had topped up my mikey that morning was like there's no way i'm topping up my mikey and then fair of eating i'm kind of pissed off that i've lost my mikey with 50 on it to be honest yeah um and they still wanted to find me like 300 so i was like not today and you took them to digital court yeah they were like you can either pay it or you can go

to court and i was like hell yes i'll take you to court and so what happened in court oh the lady was so nice i explained the situation i'm like i have proof like here's my bank statement and here's like four months worth of bank statements showing that i top up like every week and she was like oh you're fine like go right through great oh that's awesome money win yeah that's a huge money win that's a huge money win and so no fine no fine she was really nice really kind she actually taught me that you can register your mickey to yourself which i didn't know so if you lose it you can cancel it and transfer the money which is also a potential money win after all of that ryan uh do you want to go ahead with your question nope what was your money win not important

not important um just yes and cheaper transport for the family the less or abiding citizen yeah Someone found someone else's Mikey and has been using that. Ryan, did you even try to return it? Someone in my family who catches the train to work every day. Yeah. Which is not me. V, what do you got? All right.

So. Did you break any laws? No, I haven't, unfortunately. Usually I do. Sorry to report. But you know what I do have for you? A money win. Is that a full table?

Yes, it means a full table of money. i'm pretty sure that's the first time since i've started working here that it's been a full table of money yeah that's really rare guys it's like getting a rare pokemon card hardly ever happens but it's very exciting when it does retro reference yeah you're welcome do you want to hear about my money ween yes also related to pets like pokemon yeah so i looked up how much it costs to do dog grooming in my area because i've as everybody knows recently adopted lucy it's really expensive like really really expensive what like 50 bucks like more than a hundred dollars yeah and like she's obviously going to become a really big dog and she does have a lot of dents

for whatever i get it i totally get it because they need to wash her they need to dry her they need to groom her and all of that other stuff great they're probably not using their dyson yeah i saw that on the stories questionable i did use it but you know what was much more efficient she dried four times quicker than any other kind of dryer this does sound like an ad now there's the credit yeah please send me an error thanks to the dyson dog dryers thanks to the dyson dog dryer which is not sponsored sadly we're just trying to like work towards it because everybody on my team wants an air wrap um and nobody on my team wants to pay for the air wrap which seems like a really great option for you to provide so if you would like to give us air
