Welcome back to another one of our Friday drinks episodes where we get to celebrate the wins from our She's On The Money community. As we all know, there are so many great wins and confessions shared every single week in the She's On The Money Facebook group, and our team spend a very significant part of our week and all of our days talking about the things that you guys get up to,

so it only feels fair to make that conversation public. So to kick off this week's Friday chat, tony what did we get up to on monday with money diaries our money diarist on monday was talking to us about how she is recovering from a financially abusive relationship with her mom and how she's kind of come out on the other side she's she's got no debt she's got like a huge juicy emergency fund now and she's doing full service sex work and building herself back up and she said that she was loving what she was doing which was really really cool and really important because it's important to love the jobs that we have. Exactly. Like Jess, who obviously loves her job. Jess, what did we do on Wednesday? So Wednesday was a really fun conversation around

what happens if you don't want to buy a house? What happens if you decide that you want to rent forever? We've actually had a few DMs about this really recently, people saying that they can't afford to buy where they want to live, or they don't want to be tied down to one place for too long and it's such a big financial commitment so we spoke about you know what your options are what that might look like um and also if anyone is interested in rent vesting we spoke about that on the property playbook as well yeah it was actually a very property centric week i feel talking all things renting buying selling across the property playbook and she's on the money um i think i want to go back to talking about shares soon though guys if that you're like give me some

superannuation talk right now oh my gosh there are changes coming in october to the insurance industry actually that tony jess and i have been talking about and we'll probably do an entire pod on but like yeah maybe we should change the conversation away from property because i'm telling you right now as much as property is very exciting do you know what's more sexy superannuation it's true it gets me going every time we talk about i'm like oh superannuation literally the best but talking about the best let's go back to our community and ask Ryan what his favourite posts in the She's On The Money community were this week.

All right. Well, last week we were discussing hard rubbish wins. They were so good. The thread was top notch. It's a really great read. I recommend it. I'll get to them in a sec, but just quickly a few money wins. Irene, for the first pay cycle in a long time,

didn't transfer money from her savings back to her everyday account. The first time in years, she said. Yes, legend. The extra $50 she put into her additional savings, sushi he's up well done irene great job irene it's such an easy thing to do you're like oh just a little bit off the top i'll pay myself back next week but you never do you never do you really never do now this is a pretty big one it might not seem like a big one but i reckon this is huge ash says after spending the last four years at home raising my child i'm this week

returning back to work for the first time since giving birth that's so exciting that is so That's huge. Oh, exciting. Congratulations. I wish I'd cottoned on to what you were saying earlier, though, Brian, because I thought you said she'd spent four years at home erasing her child, not raising her child. So I had to hear the rest of that comment to really get the context in order. Well, maybe that's why she's got time to go back to work now.

Yeah, because she doesn't have a child anymore. She just rubbed it out. She's incredibly nervous, but good luck, Ash. Oh, my gosh. You can take to it like a duck on water. You will be fine. All right. And, Laura, here's a great money win,

which i'm guessing jess might have done some work in the background laura says money win i won the bloody rumba yeah the rumba boom um i get to remove that from my want to buy list it's a money win but also an energy and time win i cannot wait for it to arrive it's so i cannot tell you oh my gosh like as you guys know i have named mine jeeves um and now jeeves has been set up for a significant period of time he's mapped my whole house so I can send him to specific locations but better I've worked out how to turn him on every morning so it's like I turned on the vacuum and I vacuumed the house before I even get out of bed it's don't tell me I'm not productive in lockdown it's so fun giving people stuff can I just say like I was talking to Laura when she won the room

bar she was literally in cold she sent us a voice memo she's like I'm just holding an avocado and it was so funny um but we put up a post this week because it's really fun giving back and we wouldn't have anything without the support of you guys and we want to put together more really fun giveaways particularly at a certain time of year when gift giving is very prominent so if there's anybody that you guys would really love to see us work with or anybody that would you know if you were to win a prize from them which make your day please go and comment on that post because Can I comment on that post? Ryan John requested a Tesla. Oh, I would like to request that we partner with Chanel. I've literally always wanted one of their black jumbo handbags. Completely out of my budget, not the point. But if I won one, that'd be all right. It was actually Rhiannon who requested the Tesla. I just supported her recommendation just to get that on your record, Tari. All right, well, Tony's requesting the Chanel.

I'm just supporting her in that request. and emily jade has requested a date with ryan john so good luck to emily i said something you wanted oh the collective look on all three of your faces of disgust can someone just show some sort of support it's like when someone says they think your brother's hot i'm assuming that's what that's like you're like oh why would you do that would know i'm from an orphanage all right let's go to the hard rubbish wins now are you guys on slack by the way yeah can you just jump on the she's on the money slack all right jump into the i just posted a photo to us yeah of a whole heap of random chairs yes okay so v how many chairs do you reckon four eight twelve sixteen oh probably

like 37 38 maybe all right so jennifer's hard rubbish win she said i really love wooden the wooden chair mishmash look so for our wedding last year i found all these different chairs on roadside pickups i drove around for weeks collecting them all and that's them there so So the total seating cost was just $10 because I had to buy a few screws to fix some wobbly ones, but she found all of those chairs and used them for a wedding. That's a lot of chairs. That is a lot of chairs.

It looks really cute too, very like shabby chic. All right, Georgia. Now, I both love and hate that this has become a thing, but Georgia said she's been manifesting a green velvet couch for years. The trick is to be specific. Yeah, and she finally found this on the side of the road. She bought some new cushions to kind of, you know, clean it up and take care of a few edges and stuff.

$70 total for the whole thing. And if you check out that picture, it's so cool. Like, obviously, it'd be a certain vibe depending on the room that it sits in and stuff, but she's been manifesting it. This is exactly what she wanted, and it looks like a winner. And you can just clean something up, and it looks like $100. That's not a lot. A million bucks.

Do you know what I mean? I mean, it could also look like it was worth $100. It depends how good you are at DIY. Speaking of DIY, I think we've used this term before, but I haven't really clicked. Like the term upcycling? Yeah, that's a term we've heard on this podcast before. Yeah, all right.

Have a look in the Slack now. This is from Sophie. She found this cabinet on the side of the road. Oh, that's so nice. It looks beautiful. So she's sanded it up, put some new doors on it. Now it's a TV cabinet, but that's an absolute ripper. That looks like it would be really expensive.

And to be honest, that would not look out of place in Jessica Rieke's house. Really fun fact, I have done almost the exact same hack to an Ikea cabinet and it's literally right next to me. Oh, my gosh. It literally is the same. So I endorse this DIY. I'm actually glad that I know you well enough that I knew you'd not only endorse it but have a similar product.

That's so good. strong personal branding jess i love it yeah great all right sarah says i love good hard rubbish finds last week i got two perfect condition bedside tables and a set of drawers oh it's sad yeah so i just needed to dust them off i managed i can't believe so a little while ago i manifested it and then i drove past and luckily i have a ute so collecting these goods is nice and easy i see them i literally just slam the brakes on and throw it in the back get him in your car yeah uh so she's got a few things and she said her next thing is a big red

couch oh she's manifesting i'll be thinking about it i'm manifesting that too if you actually find a big red couch we want to see it we want photos i was gonna say that not car that that's catchy enough catchy enough that's good um all right Ruby says, I found a Papa Sun chair. Now, I've got a Papa Sun at my house. I love a Papa Sun, which is like a big, how would you describe it? It's like a half dome almost. It's like a train half dome thing.

Oh, they're really trendy. Yeah, so Ruby found one whilst listening to the Friday Drinks episode. Yes. She was out for a walk hearing us talk about hard rubbish. She's walking down the street, and as she's hearing it, she goes, look at that Papa Sun. I'm going to take that. Oh, my God.

She manifested it. yep uh she said she made three thousand dollars last year selling things she found in hard rubbish as well sometimes she gives them a new coat of paint or sends them back but it's like a little hobby she touches them up and well done that's impressive now i know i've made some pretty um maybe outrageous claims in the last month about this is the greatest money win of the year or stuff like this but unlike you i think this is the most feel-good money win that we've ever had and she's on the money okay throw it what is it this is from joe elizabeth okay hi joe and i'm gonna put it out there joe you are a bloody legend mate joe said i make fifteen thousand dollars a

year from hard rubbish flipping stuff that i find and i use that money to fund my homeless kitten and animal stop it stop it joe you didn't stop it oh my god uh free money to me i help people who can't afford new stuff and you know give them some stuff that looks really great at a cheaper price it avoids stuff going into landfill i spend one afternoon a week going and finding stuff i turn it around on the weekend and i make a bit of money i put it into something good and i feel like i'm doing some good in the world and i bloody agree joe you're doing a lot of good that is unbelievable what a special human wish i was that good a person oh you just stopped though No, I'm the one throwing the stuff out, unfortunately.

Yeah, Jo says her strategy is to hang out the front of Tony's house, wait for some good stuff, and go from there. Stop giving your strategy away. You won't make $15,000 next year. I walk out my front door, there's like 30 people standing out there. They're like seagulls waiting for a chip. All right, there are our money, our hard rubbish wins. And there's only a few of them that thread it genuinely.

So jumping back into the episode, we are going to be talking about the wins from our team. Tony, I want to know what money win you want to share with the community this week. guys i have a really fun and dumb win this week um so i've got the i always wear white runners which most people wouldn't know but i do always wear white runners and my very favorite type of white runners are like the one the supergar ones with like the high platform on the bottom oh yeah and you're fancy you always have really cute sneakies on they're just always white because

they just elevate everything a white snake that it's just it just does something to me just i don't know if this is pushing off your money win but you do have those fancy vega ones too is it vega vega whatever you say well i always think it's vega but i actually don't know but remember that was one of my first money wins because they were supposed to be like 200 and i got them for like 110 i reckon your cost per wear on those is epic now it's oh i'm making money back yeah they're paying dividends um right so i found i got this email from platypus today that the supergar sneakers that i normally buy like 180 dollars and i got them for 85 dollars what that is a good money win yep yep so i'm very very happy with that so just have to wait three

weeks for them to get here by post um but there's gonna be a while but it'll be worth the wait not me over here being like super guard does she mean super ga i live under a rock oh is that what they're called no no no no no they're probably like you're correct i am not cool i just see all the cool girls on instagram wearing those and look at them and i'm like maybe i could one day be a cool girl it probably is super ga you know i just thought it was super it's one word so super i feel like super girls you know i'm gonna slide into their dms and ask them yeah if anybody knows message us at the she's on the money instagram but let us know how to how to say brand name please i just feel like we're not on trend with that um but v do you have a more substantial win

than that i do but this is very domestic obviously a couple of weeks ago i got a robot vacuum which i'm quite clearly over the moon about and the next step in my domestic goddess journey is getting curtains for my house how exciting strap yourself in this story is a cliffhanger um so i went and got a quote to have my whole house done in those beautiful sheer blinds right like my house isn't actually that big so i've got like two rooms at the front of the house and the big um open plan kind of like shears at the back and my study so it was going to be thousands of dollars to get these shears little did i know that they're actually really expensive and so i'd kind of just reserved myself to the fact that no maybe i just won't get them at home not yet not until

like you know i'm a bit older and have a bit older yeah like you know i still feel like even though i'm 30 i still need to grow up like you remember when you used to look at people and be like 30 she's ancient and now i'm like 30 how are people letting me be responsible for anything like Like, I shouldn't even have my kettle license yet. Like, I don't know. Anyway, I never got my pen license on that note. What about joining license? What's a joining license?

For cursives. Yeah, like when your letters can join the next letters. No, I'm a left-hander and it's actually a really sore point for me. I literally never got my pen license. I was still on pencil until the end of grade three and then by grade four, I didn't have a pen license. I was illegally using big pens. Oh, my God.

I'm going to call someone about that. please don't call my grade three teacher Mr Snee he'll have something to say about that um but back on track my curtains were going to cost a lot of money and I'd reserved myself to not do that and I actually found a whole heap of really cheap curtains this is not sponsored FYI just on freedom that you can install yourself that look exactly the same and I'm literally paying less than a quarter of the price to install them myself and with all the time I have in lockdown instead of waiting eight weeks like the fancy curtain place website said it was going to be it's going to be here really soon and over the weekend i can install my own curtains oh great and

then you can do diy relationship counseling when you break up because you do the diy curtains yeah and like it will actually give us something to argue about that isn't what we're going to have for dinner yeah or what you're watching on Netflix yeah or do we really want to watch another episode of suits like i don't know yes is the answer that ikea is really good as well for like really affordable sheer curtains and if you're in a rental like me pro tip if you have blinds or something you can just get like a pressure rod which literally holds itself up using gravity you don't have to drill in or anything and you can hang your curtains from that yeah is gravity the word you want to stick with i don't think so do you want to lock that one in eddie

science makes it stay up and not fall down comes to your house and he says stay up stay up somehow they stay up they don't damage the walls and you can put beautiful curtains up and have your lovely she is for a really affordable price i like that i one day i'm gonna hire jessica to be the interior designer at my house because honestly you guys aren't in her house Haven't you sort of already done that? Kind of. Kind of. Unofficially.

I do actually consult her before I make any big purchase nowadays. Like, ask Jess. When I was ordering these curtains, I was like, now is this the right color? And Jess was like, I literally don't know, but sure. Well, Jess, is that your money win, that Victoria's hired you for a different other job? No, mine is also something I purchased,

but it comes with a little life hack. So we know I love a Depop win. i bought a pair of lulu lemon leggings um my favorites are the aligns they're buttery soft they are 120 if you buy them full price i found a pair on depop for 45 because i'm familiar with it's a money win but if you're familiar with lulu they do different leg lengths so that you know you're taller gals you're shorter girls everybody get yeah they do different lengths for different people um and the leggings that i purchased are too long for me but i was doing some googling to get them hemmed lululemon does free hemming in store you don't it doesn't have to be at the

time of purchase and you don't even have to show a receipt you just turn up so i bought these leggings really affordably they were my size but too long i'm going to take them they're going to hem them up to the perfect length and it's not going to cost me a dollar which is such a good money win impeccable that's so amazing ryan do you have a a win from lululemon you actually say that but there are some unbelievable men's items in lululemon i know that sounds like a joke but they actually is obsessed with lululemon yeah they're actually great and until you've actually tried them or until your male friends or people who wear males clothing tries them i promise you they will always pick fun at you for spending too much on leggings and too much on lululemon

stuff until they try it themselves and now my boyfriend is addicted to lululemon it's so expensive but i promise you the quality supreme supreme uh my money win until i get into the lululemon is i think i mentioned a few weeks ago that i sold my car yes so yeah bridget and i went from being a two-car family to one car family because we just didn't need it and that's so economical i'm so proud of you thank you doing it for the environment and the cloud it actually is not just like the petrol and the money i got from selling my car but the insurance the rego like all those other things it's going really good yeah so i am now getting to work using those uber bikes have you seen those uber bikes in the city like you scan them with the qr code and you literally

just get on are they the blue ones no they're like they're really bright obnoxious red orange sort of vibe and they're what about your helmet there's a helmet attached and it's all locked in And so as soon as you scan the QR code, it unlocks. It's got this little thing and then you grab the helmet, chuck it on. And I've had friends who have had bikes stolen. I've had friends that are like, oh, my bike's broken. I have to go and take a get it service. The ability to just ride it and just literally leave it on the side of the road is a very nice luxury.

And for me to get to work on average has cost between about $2.90 to $3.80. Hey, that's pretty good. But I'm confused. That's less than a public transport fare. like yeah i'm confused about the accessibility of these things well they're only in i guess inner suburbs i live in richmond and so when i get up in the morning i open the app and it's sort of oh it tells you where about i was gonna say how do you know where the back is gonna be how do you finish work and then be like oh i'm gonna get a bike like is it where you left it

or did somebody else come and get it i'm just i don't understand yeah so i go on the app and it and it shows you that the one's closest to you and then you can like press on it and like sort of bags it for 10 minutes while you walk to jump on it sort of thing however i've literally been riding home and leaving it on the front like on the footpath at the front of my house and 99% of the time it's the same on there and i walk out in the morning so it's super easy because there's so many of them and that saved me a fortune like i said literally sold a car all the on-road costs and it costs a couple of dollars a day huge win and they're like an assisted bike as well so they're not as hard to ride like it's not as if you're jumping on a bmx and it's you know a really

different and then you rock up to work and you're sweating because you've just ridden your bike i still don't know what the deal is electric right but you can't hear it like it's so you literally do two rotations and you're like arrive at your destination and i don't know how and i didn't actually realize that until i wrote it the first time and someone at work was like oh yeah good on you getting your exercise every day and i was like take it run take it plenty of exercise just a really active guy thanks that would be me until you told me they were electric i was like that's not for me that's not my vibe but i can arrive fresh and refreshed and tell everybody that i rode the bike nice yeah so it's it's really weird a few rotations and it just goes

so i don't know how it works battery inside it somewhere or some solar thing it makes no sense to my simple mind maybe it's charged when you pedal that's actually like yeah potentially like a wind turbine or something like kinetic energy like how watches some watches have that like when you move your wrist if i don't put my watch on for a while it's always the wrong time if anyone knows the answers please post it in the facebook group because i write it twice a day and i have no idea how it works i mean a simple google will probably answer that question but we could also ask jess she'll probably say the answer is gravity how does it yeah yeah i'm just happy to get to work for two dollars ninety yeah it doesn't really matter that's a pretty good money win
