On our Money Diary on Monday, we spoke to a future doctor who's managing an extremely laborious degree while staying afloat financially and we spoke to her about how she says no to FOMO when her friends lure her from

their very well-paying full-time jobs. Then on Wednesday, we had a deep dive episode where we dove headfirst into all things property, which was one of our investment methods we chatted about at the beginning of this what we're going to call mini series of assets. In this episode, we're Also going to be chatting to the team, as usual, about their money wins, their confessions, and we're obviously going to be hearing Ryan Jobs' top six money wins from the community, which we arguably all cannot wait for. I don't know who else has put a drink on a fishing line. So what does the note say? um back on topic we got this beautiful handwritten note from the team at selena estate they've just launched a new range of wines and they actually sent us a set and linked each of us to one of their bottles of wine so it was very cute this is like a one of those um buzzfeed quizzes like which wine are you so i'm nervous about the assumptions they've made yeah but i also really like this because you know sometimes you get pr and they kind of just send you a box with a printed piece of paper that's like hey team here's our product like the licorice you ate the other day

yeah like the licorice i ate the other day and i was like cool um this is selena from selena herself has written us a note um so to kick it off we have the rosé which is victoria clearly one of the biggest boss queens around and it is called slay all day then rosé Oh, I love it. Do you know, guys, Jess would not let me open the box or read the wines until today. So she's kept these. It's a surprise for everyone at this table.

Yeah, and she had to carry this into the studio today. I'm sorry, Jess. Just walking down the street with my bag clinking very suspiciously as I walked into KISS. Slay all day, then rosé. Yeah. Next up is the Savvy B for G King. She said in case it wasn't obvious and it's get sassy with Savvy.

buying people's shots way too drunk anyway all of my good work just went out the window but did you write that down in your book no i can't tell the book the book's off i wish you had like buy a shot one shot gotta write this down guys sorry turn the music down um but can you just exactly define when you say i made mistakes what were the mistakes just like buying a lot of drinks for myself for other people ubers uber eats uber eats after the session you know what i'm saying yeah where were you just just in melbourne cbd various venues i want to disclose don't worry about it um she was at revs that's what that's new new new new she was at the couch so that was that and then today i was like need to get out of the house working from home

went for a little walk to the bakery i was gonna buy a loaf of bread and so i did and the lady was like that'll be eight dollars please what eight dollars for one that's my question were you like oh my gosh no sorry ma'am i did not order eight breads yeah yeah i just ordered one and she was like no and i was like is there gold in it and she was like no um so i just walked home you can't not get it at that point you know no i wouldn't have backed down from that sale either so i mean And it was delicious yeasty bread to be fair. Was it at least like a sourdough or something? It was, it was sour, it was delicious.

But $8, too many dollars in my opinion. Yeah, agreed, agreed. Anyway, bread chats aside, let's move on to Jess. Oh, I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel this week. Oh, wait till you hear mine, my love. Minds of money win. And normally my partner and I alternate. We have like one takeout night a week.

It's like our little splurge night. I can get whatever you want. Normally, we just alternate weeks who pays. Like, we don't share expenses. It's just easier that way. This week was my week, but he paid again. Money win! How do you swing that one?

Does he listen to the pod? Should we be... He was in trouble and he was trying to make up for it. Life loss. Oh, gosh. So, my loss... I've also got a loss. Oh, no.

Me too. This is not a positive episode. Life is not really a win either. Oh, you know what? I'll throw in a money winner. It will be, you know, far-fetched. But Ryan, what is yours? So Bridget gets home the other day and says the water's not working.

She wants to have a shower and the whole apartment has got no water. And we don't know what it is. And because it's an apartment, we don't even know where to even look. So we call the plumber. It's after hours because there's no drinking water or anything. So it's after hours. They come out. And it turns out the people next to us are renovating their kitchen.

So they turned the tap off thinking it was for their kitchen, but it was the tap-off for the whole building. You're kidding. And you had to pay for the plumber. Well, because I called the plumber out. Surely they would pay for it as well. But it turns out the whole building was out, so multiple people had called multiple plumbers.

And once they turn up, one person just went, and all the other plumbers were like, thank you, $120. That's like a community money loss. Yeah, but it was a money win for the plumbers. They're all high-fiving each other on the way out. So what's going to happen? I don't know. they felt really bad

because once they oh we didn't realise it was everyone we just thought it was us so they felt horrible which made us less like lynch mob spiteful

yeah okay but 120 bucks for something that's literally got nothing to do with you I feel like they've got to cover that and yeah it is pretty

bad luck but I think there was three or four different people called plumbers so tough day oh gosh I also have a

tradesperson money loss it's my own fault the second time but the first time I don't know what caused it for those of you who have been listening to the journey you know that i bought a home recently and with owning a home comes home ownership costs one of them is having to pay a plumber to come out to you because your sewerage is backed up and it is spewing out in your garden

and yeah is that the whole house stink not the house just my driveway which you have to actually walk up to get into my house so it was just a good experience for everybody involved and so $240 got the plumber out he said your pipes are blocked it's because it's an older house it's very common just make sure like you're checking what you're flushing he said he put his little camera down there couldn't work out what it was and he said I think it's just like time the people that lived here before you hadn't lived there for six months whatever okay no problems and then i'm not trying to be naughty i flush cat litter because we have flushable cat litter spend a lot of money but do you though no steve does i don't do that chore

no but i mean like it says it's flushable litter but is it flushable the way that this story's going probably no yeah like spoiler spoiler we flushed cat litter backed off our toilets again and another $240 ensued to get the pipes. Same guy? Same guy. He's rolling in it. He's like, these guys, plebs. You know what?

Someone's putting a camera down a sewage tank to have a look. He earned that money. Yeah, money loss. He also, what a guy. He like high pressure washed my driveway before he left so that I didn't have to. What a legend. Yeah.

That is nice. 10 out of 10 experience. I didn't ask him to do that. He was like, oh, I just tidied it up out in the car. I was like, what a legend. That's so nice. That makes it all worthwhile. Yeah, I really liked him.

Ryan, could you make an epic segue into your segment of the show, which is your now six money wins? I don't know if you guys have noticed, Jess, Georgia, they're dwindling. It's gone from eight to six. I've got an epic one, but it's fallen through. So that it might be on next Friday. What do you mean? I'm doing some background investigating about one specific win.

It's not of the week. It's of a week. Yeah, but not this week. We'll take it to a vote. We'll ask. Have you guys heard of Car Next Door? Yes. I'd never heard of this before I looked into the group today.

Tracy says, I recently put my car on Car Next Door as a bit of a side hustle and I made $900 in one month. I couldn't believe it. That's a lot of money. That's a lot of money. The money is going towards getting the car serviced and any future income will go towards the car's exterior,

blah, blah, blah, take care of it. So my car is kind of paying for itself and paying itself off. So V, what is Car Next Door? It is a car share company. I feel like I've been put on the spot to sell a business, but a car share company where you can list your car online in much the same way you could list your house as an Airbnb and lease it out to people who want to come and borrow your car.

So hypothetically, and I feel like this will be very common to a lot of us and people listening. You're working from home Monday and Tuesday. You've got your car sitting there in the driveway. Someone's going to pay you however much and they go, I just need the car for the day. They take it, bring it back to your driveway.

You borrow the car next door. Tracy, $900 in a month. I reckon that is epic. That's someone's entire rent. That's a lot of money. Like what? That's huge. For something you literally already had sitting around.

Asking the real questions here as the type A person. Like, have we started at the best money win or have we started at, like, the not best money win? Like, where are we at, Ryan? Is there a hierarchy? Is there a hierarchy this week or are you just reading out six random ones and just not putting in nearly as much thought as you usually do? Sarah says, I did a market stall on Sunday to get rid of some things that I normally would have just taken to the op shop, covered my costs and made a $220 profit. Nice. Love Sarah, but not Ryan's.

I believe she, someone asked if it was at the Camberwell Market because that's a very popular one. That's so good. Very popular for secondhand goods. She said that sometimes she goes there, but she went to Bentley, which is in Melbourne. There's a bit of a secondhand trade going on there. Also on the same theme, Carly said she sold some clothes on Depop.

$85 money win so far. Now, does anyone know here about Depop? No. I'm a Depopper, yeah. Oh, you're a Depopper. Can I guess what it is? I don't know if it's meant to be a verb. Yeah, you can guess what it is.

So I've only heard of Depop is when influencers get sent free stuff that they don't need and then they flip it. Even though what it gets used for is that's not the whole purpose, right? No, but as a content creator, that's definitely something I've done in the past. No, but it's just like an online marketplace. It's primarily clothing and accessories, but some people do homewares or homemade small business pieces.

Is it Etsy-esque? not really because it is more it's kind of like an online thrift shop like you any clothes that you're selling it's a good place if you're looking for something specifically to get it really cheap like ebay kind of yeah but you don't bid it's just like you put it up that's the price and get it i know a lot of people also rent stuff on there but i what i don't really know how that works because it's not designed for that if you're going to sell something would you sell it on facebook marketplace or depop if it's closed i tend to do depop because you can just sell it package it and post it you don't have to worry about like getting it to someone because you

you include postage in the price right yeah right and also you don't have to deal with the pesky back and forth that facebook marketplace afforded sometimes sometimes people do there's a real i can't talk that facebook marketplace supports you sometimes people do though there's a really funny instagram account um that shows like dumb things people have dm'd on like deep off and it's quite good i would recommend that i kind of like that i saw a tiktok once that was about facebook marketplace where someone just walks into the room and goes is it still available and the person's like yep and then they just leave because if anyone sold anything on facebook marketplace that happens all the time people message you and then disappear all the time all right let's go to

eliza that's a pretty name eliza said i've been trying to stop buying so many coffees at work so i just restocked my coffee pods within she does an espresso one which is obviously you know one of the classics uh i did a lot of online research and shopped around and i found a place that was doing 60 pods for $49. Is that good? It's less than a dollar a pod. Less than a dollar a coffee. Yeah, I feel like that's good.

Which is pretty good. What about milk? However, then she did some more shopping around and, you know, looked for some discount codes. And I know a lot of people are just checking shop back just before they buy anything, just in case it's on there and stuff like that. It's what we promote.

Yep, there's even more discounts. Free shipping. It ended up being $0.62 per coffee. Money wins! That's an espresso, which is huge. Let's go to Jessica. saved over 50% on my monthly car insurance just by moving into my first home.

50%? It turns out my new suburb is much safer than my old suburb, so you know how sometimes you type in where you are and it gets rated? I know exactly what she means, yes. How much more rent are you paying, my friend? But does it balance it out, though? Oh, maybe.

If rent's 50 bucks higher and insurance is 50 bucks cheaper, wouldn't you rather live in the good place? Is that really a money win? Or is that just a life smart win? we're getting savage on the money wins ryan is really unimpressed with me today no it's a good point i mean how many segments can we have i don't know was that a tantrum a corny tantrum now this is the most you know how last week i said this is the most disgusting

weird money win ever because it was the girl she ate popcorn from the back of the couch for 20 bucks for the bet with her partner. I thought that was the most random thing I would have ever read in the group. But you spoke too soon, didn't you? I bite my tongue because today, this is a money loss.
