That's fine. this week we i reckon we had a pretty epic week guys we had a money diary on monday our 19 year old super saver who honestly was an epic example of someone who's taken their money story and a

pretty tough start in life and made a really great money story out of it she has some really great habits and i loved that money diary and then on wednesday we got to hang out with our friends from shop back and talk about breaking up with bad financial habits which i felt was really well time to give him it is on a sunday valentine's day what have you got planned for valentine's day because you've been sending texts over there and you've got something on my girlfriend steph asked if i wanted to go do a galentine's at a winery and i think that i'm totally up for that because i'm not really a valentine's person cute are you a valentine's day person georgia do you think i am no no i'm not i'm not jess you i oh she is oh my gosh like jess is the sappiest person

my group and uh this lady named when a savvy i mean if anyone knows how to save money it's when a savvy she's actually one of my favorites she's on the money is we go way back don't really well she is getting free domestic travel for the next two years oh my gosh so that's in the money wins coming up as well all right i want to hear all about that but before we get there jessica what are we drinking this week this week we have something that's a little out of my um unrefined wheelhouse which is why we're having it this week because jessica said she didn't like it so uh that's why we picked it we're becoming cultured here in the office um straying slightly from our throwback trashy roots for a beautiful little uh pinot noir by little yerring your little

yering little yering is that yering station or is that different i think it's from yering station is it made by yering station yeah excellent winery in the yarra valley honestly it's stunning wine it's one of my favorites it's not too expensive either i think it's under 20 bucks it tastes a little bit different coming out of the plastic cup that we found yeah look it's probably not ideal out of plastic but i rate it still it smells delicious like as someone who's not a big red drinker it smells beautiful i did have a sip she's you did like All right, well, that's what we're enjoying while we share our money wins and confessions this week. I have a confession this week. And if you've been keeping an eye on our money wins thread, you might have already heard my tale of tragedy. However, on Monday morning, I slept in and woke up really late and missed my train and breakfast. So I bought myself a muffin at the station to make myself feel a little bit better, $6.50 later, and it was basically like a Woolies mud cake that had been crushed into the shape of a ball. I'm sorry, I don't eat it, but Woolies mud cake,

I will stand that every day. Like I love a Woolies mud cake, but not at 8.30 in the morning when I'm rushing down Collins Street to the office. Not for $6.50. No. And especially our office, She's on the Money, is in Collins Street. Yeah.

Moon is literally across the road. I could have got a loon croissant for a compromise. Or literally a thousand other things in the CBD of Melbourne. Because I was already running late. I was like, I'm just going to grab something that I can shove in my gob while I'm literally running down the street. What would happen if you were late, considering your boss is Victoria? Relevant.

Not a whole lot. Also, my favorite thing is I bake these breakfast cookies because dietary life. And they're all full of oats and they're in the cupboard and Jess knows they're in the cupboard. And yet she still chose a terrible muffin. They're really, those are really good. We should drop that recipe at some point.

If anybody's interested, let us know. Yeah, I make literally an oatmeal cookie. This is me promo-ing my own product. It's an invention. Product like you said. It's a product. I'm probably going to sell it. Ryan, John and I, this week, we launched the business bible, didn't we?

How many businesses can we launch in one week? Another one. It's going to be the oatmeal cookie recipe. It's kind of a mixture of a lot of different oatmeal cookie recipes, but the main thing I wanted to achieve was a whole serving of oats in one cookie so that I could eat that instead of having porridge in the morning. She's a genius. Genius.

So I make it with roasted apples. I'll have you know. That's also nice. That is a nice touch. It's actually pretty good. Anyway, I've had them before. Mudcake muffin was not a win for me in the morning. I'm sorry.

George's turn. Hello, everyone. Okay, so I have a money win. I came prepared. I've written down my notes. So it could be, it's not really a money win yet. It could be a money win. I've started writing.

This is going downhill really quickly. You said it was a money winner. I planted the seed. This is like Rian John's 12-month money winner. So basically every day I'm writing down everything that I purchase in notes on my phone. And I feel like by writing down everyday purchases, I'm going to be more accountable.

I'm not going to want to add extra money to that list. Do you guys think this is actually a good idea? I'm on day two. So it's early days. This is from Little Things, Big Things Grow. No, this is Little Things by One Direction, actually. Oh, no. Is it?

Yeah. I picked the wrong Little Things. Let me just fade that out and pretend it never happened. I heard the first three bars of that song and I was like, I don't think this is the song that I thought about. I actually really appreciate that because I would have been pretty frustrated if that was the song stuck in my head for the rest of the afternoon. I'm with Georgia, though.

I think that's definitely a win. I think that's a win. And I think it's actually a really good little activity to kind of reflect on what you're up to. Maybe not for the entirety of a year, but like maybe for a couple of weeks or a month. Well, it's Frugal February right now, so that could help people on their way, right? Absolutely. And the community is doing really well with Frugal February, actually. I'm enjoying the threads.

I've been checking in every week thus far. It's been one week, so I've checked in one time. But I really like what people are doing. And this week, I've got a couple of money wins for you. My first money win is I actually painted my own nails again this week. It is not the first time you guys have heard that this was a money win, but I recently introduced Jess to getting your nails done at the nail salon, and I feel like it's an expensive habit for both of us.

Yeah, why did you get her onto that? Because she'd never had her nails done. I'd never had them done before. That's what I mean. If it's addictive, as you say, then. You don't enable her. No, she'd never had it done, and I thought, let's go. She was really nice.

Money win. She took me and paid for my nails. How kind. Money loss. We should start a group called Victoria Enables People. And you just message in and say what you want to do and V will just take you to do it. I never felt more like a classy lady, to be honest.

Like, I don't want to give up this feeling. She kept putting her hand in every Instagram post. So if you go through the She's On The Money Instagram, you'll see that there is a high percentage of, like, product posts. We probably didn't even have a sponsor. And she's just, like, strategically holding it so you can see her nails with stars on it. Am I wrong, Jessica?

So cute. So, Jess. Yeah, 100%. Did it on my page too. It's very Jess. I like it. Anyway, that was my money win this week. I've painted my nails.

And for the last couple of days, which is all a frugal Feb, I have taken lunch to work and consumed it, which, Jess, is pretty rare for me because sometimes I actually see my lunch and say I want something different and then go to the shop anyway. She's been strong. She's been really strong. Good girl. Do you think $27 a day, right?

Do you think people could easily spend $27 a day on a morning coffee, lunch, you know, bits and pieces like that? I think they can. But you know what we're going to do? We're going to ask Georgia, who's been tracking her spending, how's it going? It's going okay. As I said, it's day two.

But I'm doing the same thing that you're doing. I keep on taking tuna and rice to work every day, and every day I look at it and I'm like, tomorrow I will eat you and then I go and buy sushi, which is the same, it's just wrapped differently. it's so true though but in my head i'm like five dollars it's not that much but now i'm gonna add that to the list well the reason i say twenty seven dollars is because we learned the other week that's ten grand a year get out of town seven dollars fifty a day if you can save

that that's ten thousand dollars in a year and i feel like that adds up really quickly because yeah a couple of coffees and lunch and stuff so easy for it to just disappear you can't get i don't believe and i work in the melbourne cbd so there are going to be a lot of people who are like oh, lunch is like $5, but there are a lot of people who would go out and just spend $15 on lunch. That, I would say, is probably about average, unless you are my dad, in which case his workplace has a chef at it and it's $5 a day to get like a full chef-prepared beautiful lunch.

That is what we aim for. Can we get one of those? No, no, no, no, no. He works for a very big company, so it is probably financial. We've been doing some hiring recently. is that how far down the list is a chef um i just think probably one of the last times let's get to it after we okay service all the other needs that we have but yeah i think it's really easy to get past that but uh i feel like burrito bowls are a really great way to have

something yummy at work that by the time lunchtime comes you actually want to eat the lunch that you brought to work yeah also super easy to prep yep do you feel like having yummy food like the reason we go and buy stuff and don't eat the stuff we brought is because the stuff we brought it's a bit basic and we go i feel like a treat so if you bring good food to start with it's easier 100 yeah and if i've got a burrito bowl at work and i know i'm looking forward to it it's actually pretty simple to put together but it's yum at lunchtime like i love guac anything with guac i'm all over so maybe we'll drop the recipe for a good little burrito bowl so maybe next week we an all-meal prep yeah i'm so many how cute what a little frugal fed them yeah i love it all right

ryan john have you got a personal money winner confession i've got a confession and it's also a bit of a gripe um it's probably about us jess no it's not it's not not this time i don't want to sound like a grinch but i feel like there's two things businesses need to do online businesses that's like etiquette when you like go to unsubscribe from their email you got to let us unsubscribe you know it's like that unwritten rule you click unsubscribe we're going to stop annoying you the second one and this is my confession like it's illegal that's what i mean yeah the second one is i thought i cancelled a subscription and the company's actually made it really difficult to cancel and i put that in the same category as when you say i want to cancel

the company should just be really nice about it make it really easy and maybe you go back in the future so in november i got this subscription i feel like name and shame yeah i'm the only guy in the world who's gonna say this it's lumen who's like it's skincare oh yeah yeah yeah and because i was getting married i thought oh well if for a few months i'll at least try to slap some moisturizer on this thing by the way guys this is another episode of friday drinks ryan's mentioned that he got married also he dropped the um wedding video this week into the facebook that nearly made me cry that made me cry so many so cute i also cried like bridget was cuter but that's such a beautiful vows were better yeah she is excellent but i love that i mean you didn't drop it in the

group you dropped it in general and i put it you put in the group so thanks for that um and thanks for all the nice comments and maybe we'll do hey and here's an idea should we do an episode on like eloping and saving on weddings because my wedding was super cheap oh my gosh yes will you tell us how much you spent can we get permission from bridget to do that if you say a number i'll say higher or lower okay well we're not going to do that yet it will be on the episode so watch out yeah so i went to unsubscribe for the lumen thing and i thought i had but then the moisturizer keeps turning up and i was like oh my god i'm paying for this stuff i'm not using so that's my big money loss so i thought i unsubscribed and i hadn't so the product kept turning up and it

turns out i'd been paying extra this whole time for stuff i didn't want to use so i went in and it turns out that when i clicked unsubscribe it has this oh are you sure we'll send a confirmation email so you can confirm your unsubscription and again they made it really difficult and again i didn't mind the product and maybe if i wanted something in the future i would but that's just really like yeah grind of my gears and there was this the one last button and this really pissed me off it said it's like two options it says oh you want to cancel your subscription do was this a mistake do you want to keep it or do you not care about your skin and they made me tick that button this is a business not like a computer game i find that really rude i don't really like

that like if i'm leaving you don't make me feel bad about it because i'm definitely not coming back like what if i couldn't afford it for a couple of months and i was just stripping back my budget because i needed to build my emergency fund back like you are not getting my business back if you're going to do that kind of stuff a hundred percent and not that we want to keep plugging the business bible but i want to do an episode on our business podcast that we're about to start in it's a really big deal now about having a good returns policy taking care of customers on the way out and not just the way in because like you said v maybe on the track you want to go back maybe a friend will ask a recommendation i was about to swear then not

these guys because they were massive jerks about it yeah i don't like it i actually had a really similar experience this week trying to cancel a booking system that we have for she's on the money so that people can book times in our calendars yeah it's been pretty expensive and we're genuinely not using it because now jess literally does everything and i'm like oh send them the link and she's like oh no no i already booked them in i'm like okay well we don't need to be paying for that link thing yeah so i to unsubscribe i actually had to go on submit a ticket to unsubscribe and then have a back and forth conversation with them about why i was unsubscribing and trying to get rid of this subscription i don't need to explain it just let me go do you know how easy it was to

sign up two clicks and i was like cool i want this package here's my credit card details set it up use it but to get rid of it it took it was a circus anyway yeah i'm on your train of being frustrated with that all right to that let's drink more red coming up in a second we'll go through the money wins and i've also got gripe with a lady named claire who's in the group i believe is bullying me claire is bullying you thank you for being on my side do you feel personally victimized by claire i do and it's time to get her back you're about to hear revenge so now that we're back i think it's actually time to dive straight into the community wins of the week which we have had an overwhelming number of messages about because people are

I've now signed up with another chick and we're moving into a share house. I'm saving $180 a week on rent and I'm putting that into my business. Oh, how exciting. She said the new place is even closer to my work studio so I can walk and also save on public transport. I want to get my own place eventually because I value my personal space and you don't need to justify that. I get it.

Usually it's like a pizza. Yeah, well, usually. And Jess just got us pizza tonight, so I don't even have to help anyone move.

I think they were downsizing. And, you know, like some older people are like, oh, I just don't need all that stuff, and you're there. And she goes, yeah, no, I will take that. How good. That's awesome. That's an epic money move. Georgia Keller?

Good name. Keller her? Maybe Keller her. I got a sleep spray in my Mecca Beauty Loop. Can someone explain what the hell that sentence is? That stuff's really good. I use that. Jess already knows.

I'm obsessed with it. I fell in love with it. It's a bit X-y when purchased at full price. It is. It's $45 a bottle for some stuff that you spray on your pillow. And you don't even get to enjoy it because it puts you to sleep. Yes. Like, there is not long-term sustainable enjoyment in that product.

Well, Georgia said, I googled around and found it online on another site, tried heaps of random promo codes, ended up getting it for half price. I love her. I also know what that sleep spray is. and I use it too. Does it destroy your linen?

No, so far so good. Could I sound any more like an old dad? So far so good. Not the linen. Not the linen. All right, Wenna Savvy. Now, am I saying her name right, V? I don't know.

You and Wenna go way back. Oh, that's not her real name. Yeah, apparently you guys went way back. Yeah, that's not her real name. That's just her online name. Well, guess what? She's a queen. And she's a small business owner.

Last year, I was supposed to go to Europe. Weren't we all, says Wenna. as i have a quantus travel i have a quantus flight credit because you know i was going overseas i gave you credit but you can't use it that's ridiculous so she said she called the travel agent and they said that they've changed the terms of the credit so now she can use it on domestic and they now have not one year but two years to use it and because the flights to europe were kind of spenny now she's got all these in credit for yeah many little trips away That's how good.

I'm glad she can use it. And I'll be supporting local too. Like if you go somewhere small and like, not small necessarily, but like local in Australia. Yeah, definitely worthy. If you have a credit with them as well and you haven't inquired, go ahead, ask. Can you use it domestically?

And then maybe you've got a couple of little weekend trips up your sleeve. Yeah. Now, last week during this episode, Friday Drinks, Victoria, you called up a phone provider and got a better deal. I did. Live on the podcast, which was incredible. It was a lot of pressure. I can't believe you didn't get another phone.

It's only for a dollar. Not even for a dollar, guys. Not even for a dollar. Caitlin Hebbard says money. Also, apologies for butchering every single name on today's episode. We're not even meant to be using their surnames. Aren't I? No, we like to keep our community our community.

If you're not in it, you don't know them. Okay, in that case, it starts with a K and rhymes with Raitlyn. Money win. And after multiple complaints to Telstra about having no coverage and no response, I was just about to give up. But I filled in an online form with the ombudsman. And can I just... I think I said this one before.

As soon as you use the word ombudsman, you've got the power. They said because the Telstra coverage wasn't great, the phone bill was dropped to a $65 non-locking contract and has $15 worth of credits a month, which brings it down to $50 a month instead of $164. So over the next two years, I'll be saving $2,736. Get around it. I love that money win.

Oh, that's what that was. We didn't know what that was. Yeah, we didn't know what that was. I was like, what the hell is this? As a mechanic, I feel like I should know. She's serious. You picked the wrong person. So then with the lights in the water, then what's happening?

What's it implying? What's it implying? So we've got the surfer at the bottom set of the waves and because the waves are so huge, each wave is just a bigger financial problem. But that's why we have our emergency funds to make sure we can ride out the waves and be successful at the end of the day. Claire, you just got hired as the she's on the money meme explainer. Yes, I finally got a job I can excel at. That was epic. I'm surprised Ryan John didn't have a sassy sound effect to go along with that, to be honest. I was about to say, he's been, like, really hitting the mark

our hearts so much i cried yeah that's okay um but she reached out and she was like hey like i just wanted to send you guys something as a little thank you i'm from my business and we were like oh no problem she sent it over she got every single member of our team everyone these beautiful little personalized pieces so i'm giving george hers live on camera that is beautiful but she had put together literally a present for everyone including lucy lucy got a customized dog bowl ryan john got his customized coffee cup got a keep cup with my name and beautifully scribed into it it was beautiful and we all got key rings how sweet are they anyway so her business was called only the sweet stuff and if you guys follow lucy the sheep a doodle on uh instagram you would

have seen her bowl tagged on instagram recently but we'll do a post on our story today about it because genuinely it was the sweetest gift very sweet and like i loved that she actually hand makes them herself and she reached out to us and started it because of the pod is that's not the sweetest story i don't know what is and to be honest it's why ryan john and i are genuinely so excited about the business bible because the business bible is literally just this like collective of small businesses that are all going to come together to support each other and we are going to give you the tools and resources that you need to actually smash your business goals and i actually can't wait like i'm so passionate about it so what she's

on the money is to your money the business bible is about your side hustle your small beers or whatever you're doing yep ryan we were talking about this earlier this week and i'm just so sick of this like oh if you've got a business when are you gonna make your first million like that is not what business is about i feel like a lot of them i don't know if i get it more because i'm a dude in my algorithm but they're really like broey and techie and a bit gross yeah like are you cracking 10k a month i get up at 4 a.m and drink 15 green smoothies just to get my mindset i drink raw eggs like i have oat milk all right well attacked but i genuinely feel like people aren't celebrating the side hustle and teaching us well okay if you're going to start a side
