Starting point is 00:00:00 She's on the money. She's on the money. Welcome to She's on the money, the podcast for millennials who want financial freedom. Ryan John here, Tony Lodge is here as well. And what are you looking at, Tony? Oh, have you just seen Victoria's face? You've taken her job. I have.
Starting point is 00:00:26 And so is award-winning financial advisor and creator of She's On The Money, Victoria Devine. You really just raced on in there, didn't you, Ryan? Hello. All right. On today's Friday Drinks episode, you're going to learn how to save money on your heating bills this winter, which is convenient because I spent so much last year. Maybe because we were at home all year last year and the heating bills were just crazy. I actually read a thing about how during COVID, because everybody was working from home,
Starting point is 00:00:54 and they weren't expecting these like crazy bills and not just working from home, but not going out on the weekends. So your heater was on all the time. Yeah, so we got some advice on that coming up soon. Caitlin shared a post about why it feels illegal to ask for the annual leave that you're actually entitled to.
Starting point is 00:01:08 And I feel like a lot of people really felt that. So we'll get to that in a second. You guys last week did that episode on imposter syndrome. And V, did you realize at the time just how much that was gonna like stick with people? No, I didn't think that people would care as much as they did, which is kind because i obviously did so much that i did an entire episode on it but it's just not common for you guys to get as on board with my rants as you did which is very kind so coming
Starting point is 00:01:33 up in this episode we're going to talk about sophie marshall she loved the episode and went hey guys in terms of imposter syndrome let's all back ourselves and she did a thread called toot your own horn and she's like tell me how good you are tell me why you don't have imposter syndrome celebrate yourself and the posts are actually like really inspiring it's really awesome It's really cute. Yeah. So this week, Toni, what did we have? So on Monday we had a money diary with a really,
Starting point is 00:01:58 really lovely woman who's been kind of through hell and back in the last 18 months. So V and I had a chat with her and she told us that her fiancé was in a really bad accident overseas just before they were supposed to get married, which, like, added a bit of drama and spice to the story. Yeah, for that. And, yeah, so basically she'd been saying to him for a really long time,
Starting point is 00:02:20 Make sure you get your insurances in order. Make sure that you're organized if anything goes wrong. And then something did go wrong. The way she talked about it, don't you agree, V, was really empowering. There was no point where you were listening and went, oh, God, she's a bit woe is me. She was just so switched on. Yeah, it was actually in a way a little bit jarring and in the best possible ways, right? Because I had no idea what that money diary was about because I never know until I actually
Starting point is 00:02:46 get in the room and then you read the email, right? And that's all real. gosh like I thought that this would be you know a little bit more of a downer episode but she was so positive and it was so beautiful and I just love that she's like no still getting married we're still doing all this stuff like we're doing life together it was just such a feel-good story yeah it was is it bad that it then makes me feel guilty that I was like oh my coffee wasn't that hot this morning how annoying and she's just gone through all that and it's just like oh whatever it's fine I think it's nice when you hear those things that put that stuff into perspective
Starting point is 00:03:15 though we've definitely had times in the office where I've been like oh my tram was late or my umbrella wasn't in my bag and I've gotten all wet or whatever. And then we chat to these amazing people in our community and I'm like, okay, it's really not that bad. And the deep dive this week was about health insurance. Yeah. So it kind of accidentally lined up with what we chatted about in our money diary about having your insurances together. But Georgia King and Victoria had a bit of a chat about the private health insurance premiums going up every year. And it was really nice actually hearing a little comparison between well I mean you did a great job you always do did you know that insurances actually went up this year by 2.74 percent is that a lot I just
Starting point is 00:03:58 feel like it it's a bit of a kick in the nuts after the year that we had like why'd you do that because they put it off didn't they they um no so this is the one that's going off but the last increase they put off for a little bit to give us a little bit of COVID relief which means that they're closer together so we've obviously got this but we also had one late last year had one as well so it just feels a little bit too soon guys but it was a really great chat that you guys had that it didn't really say like you need private health insurance you don't need it you shouldn't have it you should have it it was really just about knowing how to educate yourself and there were some great um resources as well so if you've listened to it and you didn't see in in the
Starting point is 00:04:37 show notes there's a few little links that are that'll take you to the right place and also um a link to buy victoria's book oh did you put that in the show of course so go and check out those episodes but this is friday drinks where we like to celebrate the community talk about what's going on in the money world and tony you came in hot and said guys we're ditching the plastic but it's not what we think right uh no it's not so um this bank in australia has now changed their plastic debit card which we all know and love i mean does anybody really carry around a card anymore i mean is it really bad that i only use apple pay is that naughty i don't think it's that naughty i think it's just only naughty if you're mindlessly spending on
Starting point is 00:05:21 any way that you pay oh oh my god have you got apple to tap pay on your phone v or use the card no i do i've never set it up i just oh it's i mean i'm not like getting a kickback but it's really handy oh i bet no i'm sold and i've just never yeah got around to it no it's really good but anyway so this is that what this company's doing no so gateway bank in australia they've said goodbye to paying with plastic and hello to paying with cornstarch and it's australia's oh that's catchy i love that so instead of ditch the plastic when we talk about not having a credit card we'll say ditch the cornstarch because we don't want thick sauces and soups yes so where are we going with this they're the first australian bank to change their bank card to being made
Starting point is 00:06:08 out of cornstarch except for the magnetic strip and the little um you know the knobbly bits on your card where it says your name the numbers so they have to be yeah i don't know they have to be raised right yeah and it has to be compliant with like i guess so it's if the power goes out oh yeah okay all right all i can think of is how when i used to go out and not want to take any like collateral with yeah i used to shove my bank card in your bra right yeah am i gonna like go to get it out in the future and i'm just gonna have a plastic strip of the magnetic thing i'm not gonna have a card divine is gonna be like alphabet soup yeah and i've just made sauce in my bra yeah well that's why i'm like if you get stuck in the rain do you have gravy instead of a way to so you can't
Starting point is 00:06:54 buy lunch but you can eat the card that's taking a new meaning to it's all gravy when we talk about money the difference between victoria and tony and i v was like what if i'm going out in my pretty dress and tony and i were both like so if we're out in the run getting food suck on it well i want to know if this is the true meaning of ethical investing i see what you're doing oh guys that was funny that's not ethical you were meant to say like sustainable or something and i would have been like yeah all right go again we'll laugh i promise is this she actually believed we'd love that i've had enough that's so cute but in all seriousness do we think a we know why they're trying to do it they're trying to be environmentally conscious or is the corn such
Starting point is 00:07:40 thing just puts us off a bit and it's a bit weird still i just think it's good i think it's great i think it's a great step towards sustainability so the ceo the ceo has come out and said they're very proud to be australia's first bank to offer a sustainable option for people to use their bank but i don't know i think it's just like how are they making sure is it full of glue and they're durable yeah well it's kind of like all of the sustainable cutlery and stuff that's coming out recently right like you've got all these plastic cutlery pieces i don't know paraphernalia made out of like sugar cane and cornstarch and bamboo and i think that that's really cool and that's working well can i put it out there those paper straws just don't bother just drink it out
Starting point is 00:08:23 McDonald's what are you doing when I go through drive-thru to get my coke and my small chips yes that's what I do most times I'm on the way home um giving me a paper straw it is soggy by the time we get there can we have those sugar cane ones just across the board they're so much better right yeah I went somewhere the other day I had pasta what if I'm gluten intolerant which I am goodbye I've really you just done a good job today where's your research appreciate it okay great but a pasta one did they go hey do you want a straw with your meal and you were like yes please are you gluten intolerant oh sorry i just ordered a coke or what if you ordered a hot drink and it turned to noodles
Starting point is 00:09:05 you'd like go back and be like sorry i ordered chicken noodle soup not just chicken soup and they're like oh the noodles is the straw all right so there's this article called here's the mistakes you're making that's costing you heaps of money with your heating bills and i worked at home all year last year and our house was really badly insulated so it was just really cold all the time like fifteen hundred dollars for a quarter that's a lot i think our power bills are tends to hang around three four hundred dollars per quarter and that's just the two of us yeah um i don't know what's yours victoria is it bad if my partner pays it no no i mean it's great for you it's not bad at all but i
Starting point is 00:09:57 actually haven't seen one because we just moved right and i think steve organized it all oh yeah so this is gonna be your first winter in the new house yeah we haven't probably haven't even had Come on, yeah. Well, here is five mistakes that people in Australia- Didn't you just say six? I've culled one. Okay, so it's getting shorter and shorter. You better get into it before we don't have any.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And thanks for tuning in today. All right, here's five heating mistakes that people make and it costs them heaps of money apparently. So what we're going to do is we're going to go through the five things and see how many of these bad things we've done. If we're guilty of making these mistakes. I feel like I'm about to get called out. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:10:32 All right, mistake number one. assuming the most expensive heater will be the best heater so apparently you know choice that website that does all the comparisons and stuff they found out that some budget heaters cost less to buy and it also costs less to run as well oh really i think i had this thing in my mind like oh you pay for the good expensive heater but you get it back because it's so efficient yeah yeah but that's what our parents have sold us they're the same people that yell at us for the tumble dryer like god forbid you use a tumble dryer inside your house in the middle of winter if your mum says it's a good day outside you you're gonna get cut yeah so you reckon they've
Starting point is 00:11:08 also said they've drilled that into us that you spend more and it's better absolutely do you know how many fights we had when i was growing up with my dad being like turn the heater down it can't be above 21 it's ridiculous like genuinely we would get in trouble for changing the thermostat in the hallway it's a pain point for me yeah it's really triggering i'm so sorry it's a legit argument dad this one's for you is it fair to say we're all guilty of just assuming that that was correct yeah 100 and that goes for all appliances i think oh i didn't assume it i was bullied as a child into believing it yeah all right next one forgetting to use reverse mode on your ceiling fans oh i don't think this is a thing no no i do i know it's a thing no i know that it's like
Starting point is 00:11:54 My dad taught me. El Niño, La Niña, whatever. But I don't think it's a thing. No, it's totally a thing. It's, how? Because it works. No, because the fans, they're slanted. So, like, they either pull air up or push it down.
Starting point is 00:12:08 And in the middle of winter, you want it to push the air down because hot air rises. And if you've got your fan on low, it's slowly pushing your hot air back down. And then in summer, obviously, you want the hot air to rise. So, you turn it on reverse and it works. I promise because I used to not know about this and then I thought that the fan was just making me hotter and they're like well is it on the summer setting and I was like what and then I found it and it actually helped I must admit when I first found out I was like well that's obviously not correct but apparently and we all know using the fan is cheaper than the heater so apparently
Starting point is 00:12:43 if we've got that we can you know not use the heater as much and Tony is still not like I'm just not convinced about the el nino but i understand what you're saying i understand the science behind it but i just don't think it really works what were you saying ryan i'll put that down for a tony does not believe in that one all right number three don't get us started on religion or politics number three and now i think victoria's dad's gonna have something to say about this oh it's about should we get eric on the phone cranking give him a call cranking the temperature apparently the experts say that the difference between what you want that's you know you say to the heat up put it on 26 degrees and what it is outside has to be within eight degrees of each
Starting point is 00:13:25 other so the outside temp has to be within eight degrees of your desired temp because if it's because if it's not it's actually wasting energy and it's not possible and it's just using more energy than actual heat providing well i am not paying for it to be zero degrees outside and my house to be heated to a warm and toasty eight degrees are you very joking me but i don't think it's going to get to like it's saying it's not actually going to get it to 26 like just having it within eight oh you best believe the heat is in my house i reckon it's 32 degrees year round they are the most expensive ones on the market they're ducted and i've got to use my fans because they're in the in the roof should we do a shoes on the money sweep to what victoria's power bill
Starting point is 00:14:03 is going to be at the end of winter oh that's a good idea oh gosh it would be bad because i'm You know, I'm very environmentally conscious, but the heater is definitely my downfall. Oh, I think that most people can relate to that. Yeah, absolutely. And I also low-key use my tumble dryer as an iron. Yes. Oh, that t-shirt's a bit creased. I'll chuck it in the trash.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Yeah, chuck it in. Look at me. Everyone thinks I'm so put together when in reality, I had a toasty dress to get into this morning. All right. The next one. Using the heater to dry your laundry. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I mean, I just... Attacked. Okay. okay um yeah cool it's been nice knowing you guys tony lodge is this something that happens in your household no it's not because so we've only got one like reverse cycle unit in our house so it if we have that on and we've got wet washing so we've just got a little apartment it just makes the room too humid so then our our um our windows glaze over and it looks like we've had a real romp in the in the hay like in titanic oh here i am thinking you had a healthy relationship
Starting point is 00:15:11 it's just the washing introducing humidity into our house well apparently a lot of people will put the you know like on the clothes horse and they'll put it over the heating ducts or next to the heater it actually blocks the hot air getting to the rest of the room thus you need a lot more heat when you're covering it over that actually makes a lot of logical sense yeah Tony was practically right. I'm very guilty of this. We don't have a dryer at this stage. You know, not in Victoria at the moment.
Starting point is 00:15:38 But I use the heater and guilty as charged. So, there are the five. How many did you have? Tony, you kind of disagree with all of them? Yeah, I don't disagree with, I don't agree with science. I think I had two on there. Yeah. V, do you feel better for knowing those?
Starting point is 00:15:54 I actually don't want to talk about it. I feel like we've all learned about Victoria's habits and her family relationships. Can you imagine how angry my dad's going to be at me when he finds out I keep my house at a cool 32 degrees all the time? Or when he says, Victoria. You could have just put a jumper on. Put another pair of socks on.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Go to bed early. You don't need to have that heater on. Maybe that should have been tip number six. Just put a jumper on. Yeah, that's a good tip. Yeah, put another jumper on. No, do you know how fancy these pyjamas I'm wearing are right now? I'm not covering this luxury up.
Starting point is 00:16:31 i'm gonna put this out there this is a trigger warning because people get real worked up about this and so do i what are you going to talk about caitlin posted in the group oh yeah i guess i get up in arms every time she posts wanting to know if anyone else feels the same as me probably why does it feel illegal and like i'm letting down my whole workplace just for applying or asking for leave that i'm actually entitled oh this is such a good one i find myself having to work myself up to speak to the boss even for a few days i kind of like you know dread going oh i'm gonna have to go and see him and talk to him um and that's for one day let alone an extended period has anyone else experienced this and there are so many comments so um who wants to go first v you you
Starting point is 00:17:24 guys are all revved up as each other b what's your thoughts well i don't have a boss so i don't feel guilty but as a boss yeah look as a boss i feel like i'm probably a bit different i just i genuinely think that people should be taking leave and you know you both are in my team so you know what my approach is to it and i arguably argued with you recently tony about taking more leave than what you were planning on taking and I was like what no take more like that's a great trip bye bye and for me I think it's really positive for your team to be taking leave for their mental health for their family for their friends and whatever else they're doing but also like let's just make it a little bit more about the business owner for a second I don't want you having massive leave
Starting point is 00:18:08 balances on my balance sheet every year true that's massive because if you then left my business I have to pay you out all of that leave anyway so whether you're feeling bad for taking it or not i'm gonna pay it anyway that actually annoys me so much with the balance things because often it's really hard to take leave and then an email comes out in june and they're like you have to take your leave by the end of financial year and you're like i've been trying to take leave for a year and now you're forcing it upon me and i have to take it in winter when i wanted to go to the beach or do something and stuff like that so tony what what's your read i've because i think hearing your perspective as a boss v is really interesting because i would have never thought about like the
Starting point is 00:18:46 the balance sheet or the budget or how that looks for you mine is probably more about my team because i know that if i have time off because i'm ill or because i want to go on holiday or whatever i think about how that's going to impact the people that i work with so say i'm not coming in i think oh my gosh that is that ryan's gonna have to cut the podcast or jess is gonna have to do something for me and george is gonna have to do more to make up for me or whatever and that's my perspective and i think because i'm a little anxious being i'm always thinking i don't want to let the team down and have time off and have to get other people to cover me i totally get that but flip that if ryan was really sick wouldn't you be like oh don't worry ryan i'll cut it for
Starting point is 00:19:27 you yeah so you're extending the grace to him but like just not giving it to yourself when you're not well so caitlin in the group she writes this is so relatable for me the issue isn't asking for the leave it's being able to enjoy the leave when i'm on it because when i'm not at work i'm thinking oh is that thing getting done is that person who's covering for me are they okay and i don't actually get to enjoy my time off because i'm still mentally could you just like key in a song toxic by britney spears it's about her workplace yeah no if you feel bad being on leave that's not a positive thing like you should have created a culture where you can leave and feel really comfortable to enjoy your time because your team is covering for you or everything's been organized
Starting point is 00:20:08 and I know that sometimes that means you do do up a little bit of a handover document so that you don't feel like you're losing track and you know what you're going to come back into and that's all okay but I think if you're on holidays you should be enjoying that and if you're not enjoying that you really need to have a think about why that's not the case because that's not fair on you it's not fair on your mental health and then furthering that let's be a little bit business self-centered for a second it's actually not fair in your business for you not to be well rested and not to be mentally well and physically well you need that break you perform better when you're at work and you're a whole being yeah um one thing that annoys me and this is might just be a real nitpicky
Starting point is 00:20:45 thing yeah guys it's me when you get a job the old boss the old ball and that's not really bosses that's why did he think that i'm his work wife that's quite sweet are you not oh well who the hell am i something's gonna happen guys don't look at each other um one thing that annoys me is that when you sign a job you know you contract your workplace employment it part of the deal is you get four weeks off that's owed to you you don't have it you shouldn't be oh i'm so lucky no no we signed a deal yeah that was the deal and you work for it you work for it and for me imagine every month going to your boss and being like oh can you please pay me and then being like oh far out it's like well no and it's the same thing i worked for my the money and i also work
Starting point is 00:21:33 to accrue this accrue this leave so you signed the deal i shouldn't have to be made to feel bad about just getting what i'm entitled to and whilst i totally agree with where you're coming from I have 100% worked in workplaces that make you feel like you are so lucky to be getting paid that week or so lucky to be going on leave. So, unfortunately, I get where Caitlin's coming from because that really, really sucks. Yeah. I've been there.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I've felt like that too. I don't think there's anybody that hasn't worked in a place that's like that. Luckily for me, now I work for the best boss in the world that, you know, wants to clear her balance sheet so that I can go on holiday. So last week on She's On The Money, you guys did an episode on imposter syndrome. Actually, question without notice, V,
Starting point is 00:22:20 how would you sum up imposter syndrome? How would you define it? It's where you think you're faking it until you make it and you genuinely believe that you were a fake the whole time, but it's not true. It's like they're going to figure out that I'm a phony. Yeah, you're going to be exposed for doing your job well. And a lot of people really resonated with that episode
Starting point is 00:22:35 because I feel like, is it fair, like the three, we've all had, I've had experiences, like I still have it all the time. Are you guys the same? A hundred percent. A man who has imposter syndrome. Wow, Tony. My heart bleeds to know.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Do you know how hard it is being a straight, white, middle-class guy? It must be so hard for you. I can't relate to that. Unrelatable content. But I think that anybody, man, woman, non-binary, does not matter who you are, there's every single person is confronted with that. It's hard, too, because you just don't know who to talk to
Starting point is 00:23:07 and don't know how to validate those feelings, and it's just challenging. well you do know who to speak to now it's a she's on the money group because after the episode sophie marshall did a post and she was like i heard the episode it really resonated with me so i'm starting a thread about tooting your own horn which is super cool super empowering we've all got some of our favorite horn toots and victoria will go first okay i am very excited about these i got to go first which means i got to arguably nab the best toot your own horns so the first one was by nicole and i liked this one it was short sharp to the point she says
Starting point is 00:23:41 quit my toxic nine to five job i'm now a full-time pilates teacher oh legend toot toot i like that she got a lot of likes on that and i think that that's so empowering like how exciting quit my toxic job yes money win life win everything win a little bit off topic but there's been a lot of really incredible posts in our community lately of people talking about ditching their job even though it's high paying and going to something they're really passionate about and there is just something that really that does me yeah yeah makes me so happy to hear for other people because oh it's so exciting there's just something about it yeah all right well you're gonna like this next one yes so before i get into it ryan you'd know big four we know we're talking about you know
Starting point is 00:24:24 consulting the big accounting firms consulting big banks right like becoming a senior consultant is a big deal right like that's a bougie title i don't even know that word yeah i mean it's got more than five letters in it so that might not be your area that's really unkind of you ryan another white male thing of course yeah there's that imposter syndrome again how dare i use words with more than six letters but this little toot toot is coming from steph and she says hi steph i'm 23 and working as a senior consultant in a big four professional services firm which if you don't know what that is that's big roll yeah i appreciate that wrong kind of horn to be tooted but here we are wrong horn but whatever and she says hopefully soon going to go to manager and
Starting point is 00:25:10 i'm concurrently studying law full time and then she said need to toot toot myself more often yes you do queen i literally loved that i was like heck yes because that is so hard to get into a position like that it is into the firm in general is hard enough exactly and you're already talking about going to a management position at 23 say what she's got it on yeah she's got it going on she's on the money and that is the end of the all podcast yeah i wish it was you can actually just put me in the bin on the way out nice tony lodge okay um i was a bit naughty i've got three so i'll go through them quickly oh come on all right all right all right okay so the first one which i absolutely love is from someone called rebecca brown hi rebecca they say i'm doing breast cancer
Starting point is 00:26:03 research and know so much more than i did in january and i can't explain how proud i am of myself but i also feel like i know absolutely nothing because there's so much more to learn but i'm tooting my own horn anyway yes i love that because i think that sometimes people think that it has to be a tangible thing to toot your own horn but no you learn that's amazing that's huge and sometimes it's nice to the more you learn the more you realize you don't know and the fact she's aware of that she's like i'm on this journey i'm getting started i've had a great six months and i'm still learning more like and breast cancer research as well she's a better person than me um emily jade um has said working for a company that improves the financial literacy
Starting point is 00:26:44 rates of literally women all around the country but yeah cool well i'm sorry i'm trying to do my best well when you said uh she's a better person than i were you waiting for us to kind of butt in because we both didn't i know that you won't i just never wait for that anymore okay emily jade has said i moved out and lived alone at 16 and became the first person in my family to finish uni i am now the only aboriginal teacher in a school over 3 000 kids what syndrome every day no you're not an imposter you were exactly where you were meant to be i know in fact amazing there should be more of her in that position she's repping as well isn't that amazing that is so That's epic.
Starting point is 00:27:20 Especially a 3,000-kid school. That is a big school. That's a big school, right? Yeah, big time. I'm from Tasmania. I didn't even know there were 3,000 students. I've got a sneaky last one. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:27:29 I want to hear it. Taylor Arkley said, Just moved into my own purchase department at 19. What? After getting kicked out of home at 16 and becoming homeless at that age. Oh, if that's not a money diary in the making, my friend, you slide into our DMs. We want to hear that story.
Starting point is 00:27:46 I'm very, very proud of this and how far I've come. feels surreal to be able to live in my own place we are also so proud of you we love you that's amazing that is like almost hard to comprehend goosebumps i do too oh that's so good i love it when we read the ones that make us all a bit cry i think that you know we work in this space every day and i would say that we're relatively grateful people but we just sometimes don't comprehend how special the stories we get to share are it's it's epic very exciting all right try and top that I was going to say, you should have gone last. Hang on, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:28:20 All the tooting is amazing. Everyone's on the same level. Some stories just hit a bit different. Good. That was well said. Alice says, in 12 months, I've risen from admin assistant to the manager of my entire clinic, managing 10 staff across two venues,
Starting point is 00:28:35 and I'm doing a really good job of it. Who are they? I'm doing a darn good job of it. So this week I stood my ground and asked for an additional $6 an hour, which adds up to a lot over the week and over the years. So, Alice Murphy, what a legend. Toot toot. Good on you.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Toot toot indeed. That's amazing. Now, this isn't a toot my own horn from Angela, but I feel like this sums up this whole chat. Okay. Angela, can confirm imposter syndrome shouldn't exist because the longer I'm in my workplace, I realise that no one else actually knows what the hell they're doing.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Yes. Can confirm it shouldn't exist. I genuinely believe that as well. it's so interesting as you you know get a bit older and you start to become a little bit more experienced in your own you're like oh so we're all just bopping around here faking that we know what we're doing everyone's just banging on their keyboard like this trying to figure it out i don't really know what i'm doing they're gonna find out and everyone else is sitting there going i also don't know what i'm doing i'll just write a whole heap of emails and send them to drafts i'll just
Starting point is 00:29:34 look angry for the rest of the day and hope that no one else hop around the office and say i need more coffee all right thank you we're outing ourselves whoops all right thank you for listening to friday drinks um there is a bonus episode out this week as well yes so um we have a very very exciting announcement which is so fun which you would have seen on our instagram all right that's a toot our own horn thing oh yeah oh is that i would love it if you took your own horn right okay we we launched our partnership with six park this week which brings to life investing in a way that is much more accessible it is the next step from micro investing and it's full service investment advice so we're not talking you know jumping on an investment platform
Starting point is 00:30:17 and popping your money in like most of the micro investing platforms we always talk about it literally gives you a statement of advice which i was talking to you earlier about because you were like well what's that even cost the average investment statement of advice in australia sits It's between $3,000 and $7,000 for just the advice. And this starts at $9.95 a month. And I think that is pretty good to have a financial advisor on call whenever you want one to talk about your investments. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I feel like, and tell me if I'm wrong here, but being in the group, I feel like there's people who are getting started and are using rays and spaceships and those great things. There's people who have got inheritance or people older than us that got a stack and they've got these big investment strategies. But there's this gap in the middle. Massive gap. And is that what we're talking about here?
Starting point is 00:30:58 It is filling the void for those people who say, hey, V, like I've been doing my raise or I've been doing my spaceship or I've been on Clover, like I've got to $5,000, what's next? And the logical thing is I would love for you to get financial advice and start like investing in a well-diversified set of ETFs, not just one ETF and, you know, get some advice to make sure that it's always rebalanced properly. and unfortunately that's always been too expensive and I don't want to refer you to that because if you have five grand and then I'm asking you to spend, you know, minimum three grand. On getting the advice. It's just so... As a financial advisor, I would advise you to not do that.
Starting point is 00:31:35 So there's a full bonus episode on that. There is a full bonus episode on it. All the juicy details. All the juice. All the tea. All the tea. Gonby spilt. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:43 I think that's all we have time for today, but just before we head off, we'd like to acknowledge and pay respect to Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They're the traditional custodians of the lands, the waterways and the skies all across Australia. We thank you for caring and for sharing the land on which we are able to learn.
Starting point is 00:32:02 We pay our respects to Elders past and present and we share our friendship and our kindness. The advice shared on She's on the Money is general in nature and does not consider your individual circumstances. She's on the Money exists purely for educational purposes and should not be relied upon to make an investment or purchase or financial decision. Oh, I added purchase in there.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Oh, nice. But also that. Yeah, that too. And we promise Victoria Devine is an authorised representative of Australia Pacific Funds Management, Proprietary Limited, ABN 34132463257, AFSL 339151. All right, if you want more info, check out our Instagram and join the Shiz on the Money Facebook community
Starting point is 00:32:42 where over 170,000 people are in there. Yeah, it's wild. How special. It's such a warm bed. There's so many people in this. Okay, that was interesting. See you later, guys. See you next week.
