She's on the money.
She's on the money.
Hello and welcome to She's on the money, the podcast for millennials who want financial freedom.
This is another one of our Friday drinks episodes where we get to celebrate the money wins from our
she's on the money community as you guys already know because we've said it so many times there are
so many beautiful money wins and confessions that are shared in our community each and every single
week and given our team genuinely spends a very big part of our week talking about what happens
in the community it only feels fair to share Fridays are always about celebrating our community
and having more positive and constructive conversations around money so let's jump
right in Tony what was this week's money diary about this week we spoke to a woman oh a little
bit of a trigger warning here um to a woman who has been through a really rough time she's
gone through multiple injuries and she um suffers from erlin's disease which is epic i loved this
yeah um so she's had lots of challenges through her life um with a late in life diagnosis of
dyslexia and erlin so um she went to uni that was really difficult and stuff like that and um went
through an abusive relationship and had lots of debt put into her name, which she hadn't actually
incurred herself. So yeah, it was a really inspirational story to hear that she'd come
through the other side. She's just paid off all that debt. She's making $88,000 a year in the
job that she's doing. She was making bank for herself. Yeah. And she's got a great new partner
now who loves her and she gets along really well with his family and stuff. So it was a really,
really nice feel-good ep of a money diary this week yeah i was really impressed with her and to
know how much money she's making when you know kind of the odds were against her a hundred percent
get it i love this for you jessica ricci what happened this week on the deep dive this week
we said let's talk about tax baby oh you are singing and i have been singing this all week
tony should definitely sing that not me because i trashed it but that's okay it's about the
enthusiasm you bring to the table here. Spoiler alert, we spoke about tax. Baby. Baby. Tax time
is right around the corner. So we spoke a little bit about the do's and don'ts, how you can take
a bit of the stress off and feel a little bit more prepared, what you may and may not be able to
claim, and a whole bunch of things which may be really helpful for our side hustlers and small
biz owners. I feel like that episode was really fun as well. And we got you on the episode this
week as well didn't we because G King has been away for her partner's birthday but usually I
ask you what we're drinking what are we drinking this week oh this week we're celebrating we've
got a little chink chink oh I don't like that champagne sound Ryan you don't no no no stop it
that one's slightly a bit more aggressive yeah that's okay Jessica we are drinking champagne
you are correct but could you please properly articulate the name of this drink uh today we're
drinking a chilled verve not from dan murphy's because if you know you know a chilled verve
click oh chilled verve click it's actually the uva click it is actually yeah yeah yeah the one
with the orange bottle and the green glass yeah yeah north north click hot is actually what it
is yes it is nice yeah we didn't go with chardonnay but that's okay no sorry about your
shardy do you put lemonade in your shardy of course yeah i'm an australian woman
but we're on the champers because we're celebrating we are celebrating this week
victoria what happened my book came out oh my gosh
there has been so much going on and so much i want to share but we're going to talk about it
a little bit later so i'll save it for after the break okay so from there we are going to bounce
straight to ryan brian john have you got some community money wins to share with us i do and
the first one's from taryn but before we get into taryn's what's our thoughts on skinny jeans being
out and mum jeans being back in nope nope nope i've tried the mum jeans i'm stuck on skinny jeans
i'll fight you tony yeah i would like to say there's room for everyone i agree i like it as
if you have mum jeans on i love come in my rooms they're so comfortable but i think a skinny jean
has its place call me a like i hate that i'm gonna say call me a millennial like call me a boomer but
sometimes this is a podcast a skinny jean just makes your butt look so good
it does and the secret here i should stipulate you get the stretchy ones like we're not here
for feeling like a trussed up turkey i want to be able to breathe oh my god trinny and suzanna
on the podcast i don't want to sound like a boomer but i'm dropping vocals like that
Norse, different, unusual.
So, Taryn says, I've been eyeing off some mum jeans for a while
because I'm, you know, a big step for a millennial skinny jean
obsessed person like myself.
She must be taller than me because I'm telling you right now,
I have not found a mum jean that suits someone who is 5'1 yet.
If you have, please slide into my DMs.
Oh, you're going to get so many messages.
Honestly, I'd be very happy to get so many messages because I'm short
and don't look good in mum jeans.
I feel like a mum jean and a pair of your really expensive shoes
would be one of the ultimate combos.
All right, thank you.
I will absolutely model that for you later.
What did she do?
So, Taryn said,
I couldn't justify spending $100 on these mum jeans that I found
because she's like, I'm not sure if I actually like them.
I'm just kind of seeing what the deal is.
But then I found them on Amazon this week for $65.
Nice.
Plus they had a promotion to get $10 off if you use the app.
Then it had free shipping.
And then I remembered that I had a stash of Amazon gift cards
from workers, little bonuses and stuff.
And she got it down to $0.
dollars got some free mum jeans and then deleted the amazon app off her phone so she wasn't tempted
to go again huge well done uh jacinta says genius oh tony you've you've been on this all day you
keep being really punny thank you oh jacinta jacinta says we're moving house so i've been
selling the furniture we won't be taking it's not much but we've put enough enough money that i can
use money from the old furniture to pay for the new appliances all right which is genius when she
says it's not a big deal i reckon that's a huge win that's massive yeah absolutely and also like
doing your bit for the planet as well instead of just like chucking stuff out there's probably
people that are moving out for the first time that are getting like a bit of cheap furniture
out of it which is like a win-win for everyone absolutely now amanda's got a win that i'm going
to implement in about 17 minutes time if you type in pizza hut into google one of the first sites
that pops up is dominoes promoting 30 off pizzas it works every time i've never paid full price for
a pizza in my life on the dominoes team came up with that marketing strategy amazing 10 out of 10
well done absolutely and i've savage you can skip the middleman of pizza if you just google
dominoes retail me not they always have i obviously eat a lot of dominoes not for full
price though no never who are you a savage all right here's another conundrum for us oh how do
we describe the feeling of purchasing something and then a few weeks later seeing that it's on
sale and cheaper than what we bought it for frustrating yeah it's annoying now it's frustrating
but i'm probably a little bit of a debbie downer if it was in your budget you shouldn't be worried
you shouldn't still be looking at it but you still want to win like you still want the win
But if you decided that you weren't going to wait for a sale,
then you accepted the non-sale price.
I'm hoping this win's going to be something we've spoken out about.
And I'm being, like, an absolute not very nice person about it.
A trust-up turkey, yeah.
So, Karen says, store credit win.
My name's Karen.
Well, wait for it.
Bought a table from Freedom Furniture for $1,200.
Oh, that's an expensive table.
I'd be annoyed about that too.
Sorry to take everything back.
Then got an email about it being advertised for $800,
dollars which is 400 cheaper and she goes i know freedom is super strict with their refund policy
but i thought it was worth an ass so what did karen do she asked talk to the manager
but it worked out the person who answered the phone said yeah that does sound a bit unfair
especially as we haven't even delivered it yet so instead of giving the 400 dollars back which
they couldn't do she got a 400 store credit oh that's good so you still spend the money there
that's so smart from freedom as well well you're now getting something for free yeah i like that
But so many people have said, though, that when they've had that happen to them, like they've seen something go on sale not too long after they purchased it, that they've just gotten in touch with the company and been like, hey, are you able to refund the difference?
A lot of the time people say, hey, like if it's within returns period, like you can either refund it or I'm going to return it and get it cheaper anyway.
And they say yes.
And so they should.
And I think they get it.
They're like, oh, we're helping our customers.
Everyone's a winner.
They get a good experience with us.
The people on the other end of the phone are humans too.
Yeah, be nice when you ask.
Yeah, but Victoria and I were talking about this the other day,
that when you do call someone, you're not talking to the owner of Freedom.
You're not talking to Mr. Toyota.
You're talking just to a person who probably also just wants to save the $400.
So you might as well call them.
It costs nothing to ring, apart from local call trucks.
Is that still a thing?
I don't know.
$0.55.
$0.55.
STD.
How much does it cost?
Is it STD or is that a different thing?
Oh, that's a different thing.
Yeah, that's a different podcast.
Paulette says, money win.
I entered two competitions on Instagram and won two $50 vouchers.
Now I'm off to Lioness and Glassons for some new outfits.
But how lucky is she to have gotten not one but two?
I know.
What are the chances?
Is it the same competition?
No, they'd be two different competitions.
See, there you go.
That's a lot of luck.
I said this the other week.
I enter competitions on Instagram all the time.
I never win anything.
Really?
We have a family friend who literally enters competitions,
and I think she started when she was pregnant, just at home,
started mat leave was a bit bored she's won everything literally tvs fridges a trip to
hawaii one time just for some people are lucky like that i remember i watched like a current
affair episode or something like back in the day on people who do it like almost as a job like just
any competition they can get their hands on they will enter and like statistically they win like a
heap of stuff because they're just entering so much can we do a thread in the group about stuff
you've won doesn't matter we've done that before i don't know but i'd love to it's fun doesn't
matter how big or how small in fact i'd actually find it quite funny to see the small little wins
you've got i reckon that would be a lot of fun but i also want someone to one day go oh i want
a million dollars from a scratchy like tell me about it if you're comfortable sharing that
obviously how blind are you what do you mean drunk i'm not i've had a glass of champagne tell
on to your speech all right nikki nikki says gotta love facebook marketplace and this is the last one
so just a little nod to jess over there appreciate it i sold a suit on facebook marketplace as it
didn't fit me anymore and i was i thought you said soup sorry you're saying that i'm drunk
jess is over here talking about trust up turkeys tony's talking about soup and i get in trouble
for stumbling over a word i sold some soup on facebook marketplace because i didn't fit it
anymore that's why i was i was done eating my suit i'd eaten enough but i could not fit anymore
so nikki said it didn't fit anymore but she wanted a new suit to replace it she thought if i sold one
on facebook marketplace may as well look there as well uh-huh she said i found one that i really
really loved and it was actually less than the what i sold my for so not only do i now have a
suit that fits but i had a little bit of extra change as well she made money money wins that's
huge well done nikki let's go to a quick break then and we'll talk after the break about the
She's on the Money team wins the book news.
And Jessica, I believe you have a very exciting follow-up from one of our community members.
Don't go anywhere.
It's a good one.
All right, we are back.
And because we are very kind people, we're just going to jump automatically to the most exciting thing.
Jess, you have a follow-up from one of our She's on the Money community members that you want to share.
what is it i do so anyone who listened to last week's friday episode one of the things we spoke
about from the community was a post from our friend jacqueline who um had been offered a
redundancy she'd been working at her company for a really long time and she liked the company right
she and that was the thing she was like it's a really sizable redundancy because i think she'd
been there for close to 10 years or over yeah it was like nearly 10 years yeah so it was pretty it
was going to be pretty sizable but she liked her team she liked her role and she was like oh i
don't know what to do and that thread had over 200 comments of people throwing in their two cents
and obviously we spoke about it well she sent us a message which i was so excited about and she said
hey team i listened to the friday episode and was super excited to hear about my post
just thought i'd share an update with you i decided to take this once in a lifetime opportunity
and take the plan yay i'm so excited to hear that so she took the redundancy it turns out that
there's going to be an organizational restructure so her like current job that she loves won't look
exactly the same after that imagine saying no to a redundancy and then finding out that oh your
role's a bit different now and then you don't like the new one oh that would suck so it's really
lucky i think that they obviously gave her all that information and she said she felt really
empowered thanks to all of the comments and feedback that everyone gave her so if anyone
was wondering what was happening jacqueline we're proud of you um i'm very excited did she say how
much no she didn't it's not about business it's not about business but you can't say you're not
curious in the original post it actually said that it would cover like two years worth of her
current salary so which is massive if she earned like 60 grand she'd be looking at a redundancy
payout of like 120 000 what that's like six figures easy yeah and she said she had until
october for the redundancy to actually kick in so she has heaps of lead time to find herself
something else oh my gosh it just sounds like really the most ideal situation she could have
asked for i can't wait um jacqueline can you please give us an update on your new job and
whether you love it and what you did and how it was like we're gonna check in each week
how many jobs you apply for this week um no i absolutely love that and i think it's really
special that the community one hears their posts on this episode and loves hearing it but two
actually is generous enough to share their follow-ups with us like how special that they
actually go hey guys I know you're invested in this because we genuinely are we're so invested
you have no idea and I bet everyone listening is probably like I wonder what Jacqueline did like
and I mean you might have forgotten in the moment but the second Jess said okay remember
Jacqueline for last week everyone's like ding ding ding yes absolutely I do I love that and
as exciting as that is Jacqueline hasn't written a book so I feel like we need to talk about Miss
Victoria Devine hello so something super exciting happened this week my book came out I mean you
guys knew that because we mentioned at the start of the episode but I'm glad that we want to talk
about it more because I'm genuinely so excited about it and the She's On The Money community
has been so kind and tagged us in so many things it's been popping off oh my gosh we were in number
one bestseller on amazon like what on the day it came out on the day it came out yeah and that
wasn't even the platform that did the pre-orders guys that was booked hopia which we are also a
bestseller on and that is also wild the power of the community is crazy and so many people are
yeah as you said sending us photos and messages and just being so incredibly kind i don't think
they realize how much that means to us as a team but you especially be because i know how much
love and just literal hours and tears went into this book i've seen it and even this week like
all i've done is cry every single time i see a post like it's not good jess made this sappy
video of me i love the sappy video yeah i loved it too the music of it just sucked me right in
yeah i was like jessica i was real cheeky i put up a post last week i was like victoria cried do
you want to see it and everyone said yes and i was like v the people want it you can't say no
I already promised.
Well, at that time, I don't think I even knew that you were filming me.
I was just like skitzing down the hall to get this book because I'd been waiting for
this delivery.
And I remember the entire week, I think our delivery was delayed, Jess, and I had been
checking the mailbox and like, I remember there was like the day before we got a different
parcel and I thought it was that.
And we all sprinted down the hallway.
We all sprinted down the hallway and we're like, it's here.
And then it was just like one of my online shopping orders.
And you guys were like, oh, come on.
and then when it came it was really really fun i think it's um you know really surreal to see
something come to life that you know i've been talking about for two years and you know if you've
been in the she's on the money community since i got my first book deal which is why you would
you would have seen me drop hints along the way and say things like yeah there's actually a book
coming and you know so not really a hint that's just saying that's just facts yeah it wasn't a
But at that time, our She's On The Money Facebook group was small.
It wasn't this, you know, absolute behemoth that it's grown to.
And, you know, I think if you go back, you'll start seeing comments like, oh, yeah, it's
coming.
Like, don't worry.
And people were checking in and I get messages over the last 12 months from people saying,
hey, I think I read that you had a book coming out.
Is that coming out?
And I'd be like, oh, my gosh, yes, it's taking ages.
Like, it actually takes so much longer to write than I ever anticipated it would.
and you know I'm not someone who could dedicate myself full-time to being an author and writing
and you know every single time and I'm sure my editor Izzy who was delightful like I cannot tell
you how good she is as a human let alone a publisher but the amount of times I had to go
hey Izzy um you know how I was writing that book um yeah so I actually have another chapter I want
to add and she'd be like okay no problem so what is it how does it work because at the start of
the book writing process you do this skeleton for them to sign off and you say okay here's the
skeleton of the book and here are the chapters I want to produce and I'll you know do it this way
and they say yep no problems go ahead do that and then you know I think at the start I had 15
chapters and we've ended up with like 22 and I keep shuffling them around and changing them and
going hey um so insurance yeah I want a whole heap more on that or hey tax yeah it's updated
since I started writing it I need to edit that entire chapter so it has been a ride but a very
very fun one and I cannot tell you how proud I am of creating this and it's not just writing the
book it's then spending I think just how many days did I spend in audio recording like oh easily
over a week yeah it was close to two weeks with Gregor who was our audio producer for the book
what a name by the way Gregor he was so cool is he terrifying I feel like it's a terrifying name
no but he had a goth band well that's yeah he was so cool anyway so i spent more than a week
with gregor just like recording for full days getting that done and you know listening back
to every single sentence to make sure it sounded right and it did the right thing and i think we've
come up with i think it's close to six hours of audio content on the audio and the audio book
comes out the same like it's out as well that's out too like in terms of accessibility there's
the audio book and there's an e-book yeah there's an audio book there's the e-book there's the
physical book i am genuinely so excited so what's going to be the main thing like what's the main
reason someone would buy it i mean i know that's a simple question but what's in it what are we
going to learn people are really into their finances they love listening to the podcast
what's in the book so it obviously goes beyond the podcast but it's everything i talk about
like i share with you my banking structure i talk to you about how to budget and how to save
and not just i guess flimsily saying here's how to create a budget it's like hey here's how to
create a budget here's how to stick to it here are the bank accounts you should set up and here's how
you should put each and every single dollar to work so that it actually happens as opposed to
you setting up a budget and then forgetting about the spreadsheet saving it on your desktop and then
12 months later when you're emptying your desktop you're like oh oh yeah that's weird forgot I
decided to do budgeting for a week so it's all about tangible change it will come as a surprise
to nobody that my first chapter is on money stories and the importance of money stories and
I think my favorite part of the book is actually the money stories that are woven throughout the
whole thing so each and every single chapter has money stories from our she's on the money
community associated with it that actually become relatable and real and actually differentiate this
book from being just a hey here's how to budget it's like hey here's how to budget but also here's
this really beautiful example of how someone has done that and changed their entire life
because of the advice the podcast has shared so it's genuinely my favorite thing knowing that
we've impacted financial futures already and i just i feel like this is a step in the right
direction because so many times people have said oh my gosh victoria i've recommended someone to
listen to your podcast they really need to and now it's that like tangible thing that if somebody
genuinely needs the help you can hand it to them physically and go hey here's the next step here's
what i'm gifting you and it's like i don't know it's just something that's i've worked on really
hard to be non-judgmental and actually be about tangible change as opposed to just going hey
here's here's a budget surface level stuff yeah it's not surface level it's like hey here's how
to dive deep and make sure that you would create the financial stability that you deserve as opposed
to hey if you want to own your own house because that's not everybody's goal if it is great the
book's going to help you get there but if you have different goals it absolutely embraces that if you
want kids great I talk about the costs of them but also if you don't I talk about how to deal with
that and I think it's just you know everybody has a different journey and I want that book to be
on all of your journeys and I think that that's actually possible which is really cool so I know
like the term one-stop shop is like such a cliche but doesn't really matter what stage of your
financial journey you are like you said if you're having kids not having kids if you're a student
if you're a bit older, it doesn't matter who you are, it's got you covered.
It's the basic principles. So, it's the things that you need as a foundation to always go back
to. So, whether you are 16 and you haven't got your first job yet and you've been thinking about
it and you don't know what bank accounts to open, I'm sure you could learn something. And then if
you are 50 and you are in a situation where you're like, oh, what's retirement look like? I really,
it all feels overwhelming. Like, I feel like there's going to be something for everybody
while still being enough information and not being you know too overwhelming and it's probably worth
noting i know you said that you cover a lot but it's not just budget you go over everything you
go over property cash flow investing superannuation uh a whole like if you can think of a financial
topic there's a good chance it's covered in there like it there's really a lot it's all the way
through so it's like everything from you understanding your money journey and your
money story all the way through to what retirement would look like and then we've also done an
additional entire chapter on how to implement that over 12 months so we break down then the entire
book and give you an actionable guide to creating financial change over 12 months instead of just
hey well now you've got the book go away and do it it's like no this is what you're going to do
in month one and this is what month two looks like so that in 12 months you actually end up
in a better position that's so exciting keep tagging us in your photos we're sharing as many
as we can i'm loving seeing them and if it's not in your budget right now to purchase the book
something that someone shared in the comments on something that we thought was so awesome was that
they actually reserved the book at their local library and it was really cool because one girl
said oh my gosh i'm so excited i've reserved it and i'm third in line to get the book which is
cool which is cool and then somebody responded to that and said oh my gosh you're so lucky i'm number
was it like 59 yeah like what which is insane yes so and that's just a book for the library now i
think it's like two weeks like and to be honest i'm i'm a slow reader so it definitely would have
taken me more than two weeks to read this book but so good luck to that girl who's 59 well actually
jess and i replied to the comment said who's your library because if there are 59 people at that
library or that want that book i will definitely send them more copies so that they can get through
it quicker yeah but you should be so so proud of yourself because it's been really exciting seeing
how much love everyone has for you and how much excitement there's been for the book and we're
approving every single post about the book that's going into the group and spamming everybody
bridget who manages that keeps saying like oh is that all right if we you know and we're like yeah
put them all in put them all in put them all in and then tony keeps being like victoria we're gonna
we're gonna spam you yeah we're gonna report it for being self-promotional and i'm like do it do
it do it do it but I think it's really fun and to be honest I have felt so wrapped up in love
and so supported and so just honestly proud like it is overwhelming how much support we have had
like you know I knew that our community was supportive I just didn't know what that would
look like when we launched a book and it's been honestly so beautiful and you know it just reminds
us that we're doing the right thing and we're in the right place and you know this team I've created
are the right people to be guiding that and the community has the right people in it to be growing
it and getting our message of financial literacy out there and i just honestly can't wait to see
what the next 10 years looks like once this book is in people's hot little hands so yeah but do you
know what else is exciting about friday drinks is money wins and confessions from my team yay
i mean it's hard to you sounded so enthusiastic it's hard to come off the back of you you know
writing a book and it's coming out today what'd you do oh yeah i saved on my sushi yeah
i don't know about that i mean yeah look it's not great but maybe i won't no i haven't got a money
win what's my that's a win enough yeah i think yours is covered you're all good to go you can
pass the baton very long money win uh jess what have you got because you sounded most disappointed
having to follow that i do have a win um it's like nothing crazy like our friend nikki earlier
i too have been selling more things on facebook marketplace yeah um while melbourne was in
lockdown i just did a big clear out of my stuff that had accumulated and so satisfying so
satisfying and i just had a bunch of things that i was like oh like i'm gonna chuck it out i'm gonna
donate it and i was like no you know what like i'm just gonna list it once lockdown ended on
marketplace for like ten dollars for a little group of things and i ended up making a hundred
bucks a hundred dollars yeah just like little collection selling gold like little groups of
things like had a set of like brand new baking item like and i was just grouping things together
i am i feel like at some point we should do like a top tips for selling on marketplace yeah um but
yeah jess's jess's short course on how to be a facebook place mogul and manifesto it's jess's
second job you're gonna throw those out but someone else manifested some cooking utensils
and it was just nice to yeah a little bit of a circular economy like that's going to someone
who's going to use it i got rid of some clutter i made a little bit bit of extra cash and then
when i needed to buy something that weekend that cash paid for it which was awesome feels like it's
free yeah absolutely genius tony what have you got to bring to the table this week so my boyfriend i
a win i've got a win i love a win my boyfriend and i have recently um set up a budget and opened
up bank accounts and all of that and we're all in the right place and we're sorting out all of our
stuff and uh we've we've managed to put away every month like 20 for our electricity bill 30 for our
rego and stuff so that when the bill comes up and it was really satisfying because this week my rego
came and i could just pay it i wasn't like what have i done like now my rego is here again i was
like I can pay this money and it just felt so grown up honestly how empowering is it when you
know that that isn't a stressor anymore and just when I saw the Vic Rhodes envelope in the mailbox
I wasn't like far out what have I done like yeah I was just like I was just like yeah take this
big roads no i'm ready for you but yeah to like pay it with cash and i'll be like oh i've got to
pop that on the credit card or take money out of our savings because we don't have enough cash at
the moment or whatever so it was just really satisfying and just made you made me feel awesome
i love that so it's a good win yeah like that's what we want that's exactly what we want and i
love that so much ryan what have you got um so mine's a win but oh my gosh have we got wins all
wins all around and still not as good as victoria's book okay but like that makes our win even better
so this it sounds like a bit of a weird humble brag but this win starts with a mistake right
so i was listening to the tax episode that victoria and jess you guys did fun and you were
talking about how some people with their own businesses they set money aside for tax it's
not as simple as just getting your return you actually have to think ahead and go oh i might
actually have to pay some money so i've been putting money away into a separate account which
I assume all that money is going to go to the tax man.
Well prepared.
Good job.
Thank you.
Yeah, and that's what we want.
We don't want you to get to tax time and not have money set aside
so you end up getting stung or have a really big tax debt
because, as we know from, I think it's next week's Money Diarist,
tax debt is scary and feels really overwhelming
and is just awful to have to go through.
Well, any time a government body sends you a letter saying,
you owe us this, it's terrifying.
That blank envelope is not good.
So my mistake was is that I've actually sent too much money
to my tax account.
So I reckon I'm way, like I did some rough numbers and, like I said,
listened to the tax episode and went, oh, it's probably going to be here
and looks like this.
I'm way ahead.
Yes.
So it's sort of like my own tax return that I already have,
if that makes sense.
That's so good.
Is that why earlier this week you posted, oh,
I think we're going to go on a holiday?
You did the numbers and you're like, here we go.
I see why you've booked a holiday.
Well, we're now allowed to travel more than 25 kilometres from our house,
so we're going on a big one-hour road trip.
All the way to Phillip Island.
Phillip Island, look out.
I love that, though, and I think that that's something
that Melbournians have been through recently.
Like, that happened to me, and I'm not counting it as a money loss
or a money win.
It is what it is.
Like, I had to cancel a holiday, and I was actually meant to be away this week,
and it was going to be beautiful, but, you know, COVID happened again,
another lockdown happened again and I had to cancel it but it's funny how dynamic we are
and how easily I was able to go yeah okay we just have to cancel that that is what it is
we've had to become quite resilient haven't we I think if you told me two years ago hey Victoria
we're gonna have to cancel holiday I would have been heartbroken I would have just been so upset
because I'd been looking forward to it and whilst I definitely was looking forward to it I was kind
of like yeah I should have seen that one coming that's all right we'll just do it another go a
different time yeah it's weird right yeah can i do a pre-emptive money win yeah will it be a money
win when we sell all the equipment we bought when we're in lockdown with the home microphones and
all the setup now that we don't need them anymore see i would love to say yes but we had amy who is
our co-host of the property playbook she went and sold all of her at-home podcasting stuff and then
we had that snap lockdown again and we had to go and i was like um so do you have that home
podcasting here and she was like no of course not i sold it all because we're not in lockdown
anymore and i was like um you know how we're all going into lockdown again she's like i'll go buy
exactly what i had before i was gonna say don't get ahead of yourself because as we've seen you
just don't know yeah it appears my fun future money win is a bit of a sore point for me you
could probably get rid of a significant part of it but as a podcaster you best believe let's be
ready yeah i would never not have a microphone at home because i'm not missing a friday drinks
episode come on now absolutely not absolutely not by the way tony you need to give me my
roadcaster back yeah all right i already sold it on my good chat good chat let's wrap the show i
