On air and iHeartRadio, Money, Money, Money, She's on the Money radio show, Money, Money,
Money, with Victoria Devine, starts now.
Hello and welcome to the She's on the Money podcast, the podcast for millennials who want
financial freedom.
What a show.
Who would have thought that one up?
I love the way you laminated that for me so I can read it perfectly as well.
Yeah, well you didn't even read it perfectly, but that's okay.
We will move on.
It's called Creative Spin.
I'm putting my creative spin on it, but that's fine.
Trav, where's Mitch?
He said that he's too busy for us.
He has way too many shows and he's got, guys, you know what?
He's like, oh, I've got to go straight on to this other show
as though Brit and Laura are more important than us.
I was going to say something else that rhymed with Brit.
More like, shh.
No, we love them.
I'm a big fan of the Life Uncut podcast.
Me too.
I'm just trying to be cool.
Hey, we've got a big show this week, but before we get to that,
how was your holiday, mate?
Oh, my God.
It was so good.
It felt like I was kind of celebrating.
celebrating. It did feel like I was kind of celebrating.
You should because I... Did you see me on my Instagram
the night before I left? I did, yes.
I was hectic. I was so
overwhelmed. If you didn't,
obviously not everyone follows me on Instagram
because it's actually really terrible. Why don't they? What is wrong
with you? My Instagram is a bit of a
shit show, you could say.
So I found out
the night before flying out
at 5am to London
that I had won
non-fiction book of the year
and also podcast of the year at the Max Awards
and I was just, like, hysterical.
I was crying.
I was left home alone because my partner was still at work
and I was just, like, so happy and overwhelmed and tired
and all of these things.
And I went on Instagram stories and was like,
oh, my God, guys, like, I'm so excited.
Like, this has just happened.
Wanted to share it with my friends,
but I think I sent a whole heap of my friends into a spin
because they're like, what's wrong?
Like, are you stressed about leaving?
you this and i'm like nah i won an award and they're like oh like okay no problem i'm like
no but you care no but the reason why is because you're so bloody amazing mate that we just expect
it so if you don't that's what it is all right but it was like i got one and i was like oh my
gosh this is wild fantastic because there were two awards nights at the same time and i was
heartbroken because i'd already booked the holiday and they were both in sydney so i couldn't attend
them so i'm like on youtube watching the awards and i was just like by myself with my phone being
I'm like, wait, wait, that's me.
What?
And it was kind of funny as well, because with awards,
if you can't be there on the night, they're like, hey, V,
if you win and you're not able to be there,
could you pre-record a speech?
But hang on a second, do they kind of...
No, they don't tell you that you won.
They're just kind of like the bachelor.
But do you think, though, that you go, oh,
they might have an inkling that I did?
No, because, look, honestly,
I just don't have as much confidence as you think I do.
So I was like, when is a finance book going to win
non-fiction book of the year?
When it's your book, mate.
Yeah, but, like, there were so many great people that were up for that award.
And I was like, I loved those books.
I'm a bit of a reader.
So I was like, there's no way She's On The Money is going to win.
But I'm going to feign excitement.
So if you saw my acceptance speech, I'm like, oh, my God, so grateful.
This, that, the other, like, did all the things.
And then in reality, I'm, like, hysterical, crying on the floor.
Like, I'm kind of glad I wasn't there.
No, but you know what?
That's why we love you, mate.
Very well deserved.
And speaking of your Instagram being a shit show, something that wasn't a shit show was the show that we did today.
Oh, it was a banger.
I reckon it was a banger.
Was it because you guys bought me donuts beforehand?
What's your birthday as well?
Yeah, like donuts, birthday week, stretch it out, 10 out of 10.
Absolutely love it.
And speaking of travel as well, we did a little thing called Guilty Pleasures, which I love.
You know, that stuff that you absolutely spend all of your money on and you're like, ooh, I probably shouldn't.
Had a caller call up and say that she spent, what, like five grand on a Gold Coast trip?
Yeah, and she only paid for like four nights of accommodation.
She probably stayed at that bougie Versace hotel.
I was about to say, that's a Victoria Devine bougie.
Oh, I've never been there.
I do not want to go there.
That is not my vibe at all.
If I go to Queensland, I'm going to get an Airbnb close to the beach.
I'll sleep on the beach.
I don't even care.
I've done that before.
I was much younger.
Tell them they're dreaming, which I love as well,
because there are some clowns out there on Facebook.
I'm still salty about the Pilates machine, though.
I didn't get to rant on the radio because you were trying to rap me
so that you could play some music.
I wasn't.
Producer Richie was, mate.
Well, everybody was because you were like, get it going, Victoria.
But, like, why is a Pilates machine eight grand?
I could buy a legit car for eight grand.
Yeah, no doubt.
What's that thing?
Is it the...
It's a car.
I'm doing, like, a steering wheel thing I've just noticed.
But no, the Pilates thing, it's not called the Ring of Fire.
It's called the...
Whoa.
No, I know.
That's why it's...
Like a Pilates ring?
Yeah.
I don't know what it's called.
I'm going to Google that.
But I do use it.
I think it's called a Pilates ring.
No, I don't think it's called a Pilates ring, mate.
It does what it says on the box, all right?
Hang on.
I'm just Googling it.
Ring.
Careful what you're Googling here, Trav, with the work thing-o.
Pilates.
Here we go.
Oh, my God.
It is literally called a Pilates ring.
See?
I was like, is there a fancy word?
I don't think there's a fancy word.
I've been calling it a Pilates ring.
I don't think there's any need for that to have a fancy word.
No, speaking of fancy, though, the show is damn fancy
and it's about to start now.
So here is the She's On The Money radio show.
And Mitch is on it, just not on the preamble.
Yeah, we can't afford him to do this.
No, no, no, he's really expensive.
Do you know he went to the legit Logies?
I know, right?
He's made it.
Yeah, I know.
Money win and not having Mitch on the show.
This is She's on the Money Radio Show.
She's on the Money Radio Show with Australia's number one finance podcaster.
That's you, Victoria Devine.
Ew.
Yeah, and Mitch Turi as well.
Wow, thanks for the big preamble, by the way.
Number one podcaster and then Mitch Turi.
Was once the cash cock.
Go and do something with your life, Mitch,
and then I will put it on the top of the sheet, okay?
Fair, fair, fair.
You know who has done amazing?
He's really fancy.
He's on the Life Uncut show.
He's basically famous, famous.
He's a Haley, so he went to the Logies.
Wow.
Okay, move on.
Who are we all thanks to?
I was going to say, do you know who is pretty special?
Budget Direct.
Budget Direct.
They're the winner of CanStar's Insurer of the Year Award 2022.
Budget Direct, insurance solved.
What are we going to do now, though?
This.
Guilty pleasure.
Guilty pleasure.
I like how good you are at radio, Victoria.
Look, pre-empting stuff.
Anyway, we are doing our Guilty Pleasures.
We want to know on 131065, give us a buzz right now here on She's On The Money radio show,
what's your guilty pleasure?
How much are you spending on it?
Bonnie, you've called us up.
Bonnie, what is your guilty pleasure?
Travel.
I love to travel.
Oh, that's a good guilty pleasure, though.
That's not like Mitch Turi's $17,000 of Uber Eats.
Yeah, Bonnie, you can sleep at night if you're spending your money on travel.
That's not guilty.
Definitely not.
How often are you travelling?
So far, three times this year.
Oh, okay.
So a fair bit.
That's a bit excessive, yeah.
I do budget for it a little bit.
A little bit?
What does that mean?
How much are you spending?
Are we talking like bougie five-star hotels or are you doing like hostels?
Not quite.
Where's the line?
I have two little kids now, so that sets me back a little bit more.
Pesky kids.
Straight in.
I can't believe I literally went to the Gold Coast and I spent four nights at my parents' house
and we spent for eight nights, only four in accommodation, about $5,000.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, you could have done like a whole family holiday to Bali,
all-inclusive, fancy resort.
Business class.
Yeah, like maybe you do need to be a bit better at it.
But you know what, Bonnie?
As they always say on Instagram,
travel's the only thing that makes you richer.
Was that big, you at the airport?
I was just going to say, yeah, at least now she's just checking into Jetstar.
No, that was my husband.
Sure it was.
Oh, sure, mate.
Whatever, Bonnie.
Married to a pilot.
We were husband.
Yeah, just in the cockpit with babe.
That's hilarious.
All right, who do we have next?
We've got Sabina who's given us a call on 131065.
Now, Sabina, apparently your guilty pleasure is Country Road.
Yeah, like when I've got that little bit of spare cash,
I'm at Country Road spending a couple of hundred bucks.
So you can get one thing there for your couple of hundred bucks.
I hear you, though.
Are you making use of their spend and save
or are we just throwing cash their way?
Oh, look, if a spend and save is on, that's even better.
Yeah, exactly.
But if that money's just burning in my wallet, I still spend it.
Like, it's just a bonus.
What are we buying, though?
I feel like we all have a store like that, Victoria.
Is there one store for you that you just can't resist walking through a Westfield?
Oh, look, I don't know.
I feel like I'm...
Best and less?
Yeah, best and less.
Great.
Big W.
As if.
Came out.
But, Sabina, what are you buying at Country Road?
Like, are we talking apparel?
Are we talking a million tea towels?
Like, are you buying the dog accessories?
Where are we at?
Not tea towers.
That's boring.
Not the whole shop.
That's the stuff that I get excited about.
No, no, no.
I don't find that exciting.
I find the dresses, the pants, you know, the jumpers, all that stuff.
They just fit really well, though, and they're good quality.
This is really well made.
That's right.
I get it.
I'm probably meant to be telling you how to be better at your money,
but I get it.
Hey, thanks so much, Sabina.
Okay.
All right, 131065, what is your guilty pleasure?
How much are you spending on it, Tina?
I go to the hairdresser at least once a week.
Once a week?
Maybe twice a week.
What have you got?
I get a blow dry once a week and then I get my roots coloured once every week or every 10 days because my greys are so bad.
Oh my gosh, but I can sympathise with that.
Is there nothing better in this world than a good blow wave?
Oh my gosh.
I saw when you thought this was going Trav Roebuck.
blow wave no comment oh my god do you go to the blow in the city because i am obsessed with the
blow it's like a walk-in walk-out blow dryer bar 10 out of 10 i know and i how cool is it that you
don't have to wash and blow dry your own hair this is a fine airing show everybody no it's not
no it's not this isn't even a guilty pleasure this is solid financial advice
With a good blow, your life will be a million times better.
That's the takeaway, everyone.
I want you to think you're getting a good blow when you listen to
She's on the Money Radio Show.
Ten out of ten.
Thank you so much.
Look, if you have ever thought somebody is asking way too much
on Facebook Marketplace, we're going to play Tell Them We're Dreaming
up next right here.
She's on the Money Radio Show for your Saturday morning.
This is She's on the Money Radio Show.
yeah for your saturday morning she's on the money radio show with australia's number one
finance podcaster victoria divine mitch cheery as well guys it is time to do this
tell him he's dreaming tell him they're dreaming everyone say it together because you have to say
it with an aussie all right all right ready one two three tell him they're dreaming wow yes
yeah this is our segment yeah i have no it's not this is good radio because if you ever have the
universal feeling to be scrolling through facebook marketplace looking for a bargain i'm going to be
blown away by how much someone thinks their terrible stuff is worth not even terrible stuff
i've got a personal one after you've shared some bangers that i'm just mad about oh you found one
victoria it's not even a bad thing tell me what you've got though because i know that i've asked
you to come to the table with a few things oh but i've been scrolling facebook and my algorithm's
so screwed up it thinks i actually want to buy these let's go tell me how much you think uh this
spokesperson in adelaide has listed a fake brand new they led with fake fake brand new air jordans
limited edition which i don't see how how is it limited edition because they only made three fake
copies okay oh like 20 bucks they're fake shoes they're asking 50 but it was initially 100 and
they've given them 50 percent oh wow the error of their way what do you want fake shoes for so you
can look cool and not spend the money mate jeez i don't like fake things because i don't know where
to get the good fake things.
Yeah.
Victoria, I can see your Prama wallet that you've got there.
My Prama wallet?
Yeah, it's got an LV symbol on the back.
I've got to say, I love your Gochi watch, Victoria.
Oh, my gosh.
It's so nice.
Have you seen my Chanel shoes?
Oh, you're wearing that with the Louis Vuitton scarf, right?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gucky, gucky.
And the doofle Gary perfume that you've got on.
Oh, my gosh.
This is terrible.
I smell like the tip.
Anyway, hey, I'm a big video game guy.
Of course I am.
A Sony PlayStation 4, 20th anniversary, limited edition, 500 gigabytes.
How much did you pay for that?
Oh, like $300 maybe?
Is that a thing?
Yeah, $500.
$500.
All right.
A dollar per gigabyte, you reckon, Mitch?
Yeah, that sounds fair.
That's good math.
No, no, no.
$2,000.
I know.
All right.
I've got one more.
I've got one more.
Let's end it on this because I think it's a high and I think, Victoria, you might want
to purchase these.
So this is in Sydney.
Someone is listing Molly Care unisex pads for incontinence.
Oh, what?
Yeah, okay.
How much are pads?
Please, sell them to me.
There's maxi pads.
There's 12 in the box.
$12.
I think it's a bargain.
Oh, $15.
Do you know what?
I feel like this might be a bargain.
We just don't know how much pads usually cost.
I've just put in an offer, Victoria.
What's your address?
I'll get it sent straight to you.
Thank you, thank you.
I'll text it to you.
But on this, these are obviously things that you guys aren't trying to buy.
I had this brainwave the other day and I was like, do you know what?
I really want to do more Pilates.
Maybe I should look at buying one of those Pilates Reformer things.
I now have a little bit of space in my house.
Surely they're not that expensive.
Thought it was going to be a money win because Pilates classes are really expensive.
I just assumed it was a mistake and messaged her and said, hey, you're really close to me.
Would love to pick it up on the weekend.
Wait, what's the actual price though?
Me thinking maybe $800.
No, no, no.
She did mean $8,000.
that's how much they are
I'll be sticking to my classes
thank you sir
well hey
if you've seen something
bizarre on Marketplace

money dilemma Victoria
which is my favourite thing ever
if you have a money dilemma
or you have found yourself
in a little bit of a pickle
with money
and want some advice
it doesn't just have to be
from me
it could be from Mitch
it could be from Trav
you get to pick
honestly
hit us up at
she's on the money
and this week
we're going to talk about
Karina who wants some tips
on how to avoid scammers
using text messages after she fell victim.
But we'll answer that right after this quick music break,
I believe they call them.
Wow, OK.
The 1980s call.
They want their radio announcing style back, Victoria.
That's why you're here.
That's what you're good for.
Get to that next on She's On The Money Radio Show
for your Saturday morning.
This is...
She's On The Money Radio Show.
Victoria Devine there,
absolutely loving the music this morning.
She's On The Money Radio Show
with Australia's number one finance podcaster,
Victoria Devine.
and Mitch Turi, guys.
It's all thanks to Budget Direct.
Hello, Mitch.
What is Mitch?
They are the winner of CanStar's Insurer of the Year Award 2022.
Budget Direct, insurance solve.
Let's do this, guys.
Money, money, money.
Yeah, so every week we bring someone's financial story on air
and we give Victoria's advice on what they should do.
So we have this.
This is on our Facebook group, everyone.
The She's On The Money Facebook group.
There's 250,000 of you throwing questions at us.
I'm here for it.
But calm down.
Only the good ones make it to the radio show.
Wow, savage.
Karina is the cream of the crop.
This is what she said, right?
She said, I've had major money loss.
I've fallen victim to an incredibly elaborate and convincing scam.
God, they get everyone, don't they, these scams?
In a nutshell, right, she says,
I've stupidly transferred money to the scammers out of my savings,
banking with online bank-wise, formerly transfer-wise,
It's okay, technical.
Other than getting in touch with my banks and the police,
is there anything else I can do?
Or the poor thing.
Apparently it was an Australia Post scam message,
which are just getting so much more prevalent, Victoria.
They are getting terrifying.
The only thing I'm disappointed about, because I'm quite pervy,
I want to know how much it was.
Is that bad?
Like, is it $5 or is it $50,000?
Like, where are we sitting?
But scamming these days is getting wild.
And to think that Australia Post isn't going to scam you.
were scammers pretending to be Australia Post.
And I've seen the same thing go around.
Essentially, if you get a text message from your bank
or any type of financial institution with a link, don't click it.
Full stop, end of story.
Your bank is never going to send you a link and be like,
hey, do this.
And if they call you and you get in the heebie-jeebie vibes,
it is well within reason to be like,
hey, Trav, thanks so much for calling me.
You're welcome.
Absolutely would love to have this chat.
What number can I call you back on?
I'll just give you a buzz back because, you know, my friend got scammed recently, just don't want it to happen to me.
The person on the phone is going to fully understand if they're not a scammer and go, all right, 131065.
And then you Google that number, make sure it is the bank's number, give them a buzz back and you'll be transferred through and you can solve your dilemma and not get scammed.
Don't click links.
Banks and any type of financial institution is never going to ask you for your personal information via a text message.
they're never going to text you or email you and be like hey could you just reply make sure this
is you i've had a few recently actually i should post them on my insta stories i also find if you
get those emails if you click on the actual email address you go there's like a million different
numbers and letters and stuff after it we've just got to be super vigilant because it's 2022 guys
everybody is so much smarter and she was saying that she thought she got a call from nab because
that's a number that popped up and so that's why I'm saying just like say you want to hang up and
you want to call them back on your own accord because then you can be very sure of who you're
getting in contact with and I think the other thing here is we really need to talk about it
because if there's an Australia Post scam going around we need to actually know about that and
also report it to them. Google Australia Post scam and they've probably got a website set up
for you to actually report this or report it to Australia Post, report it to your bank,
Report it to TransferWise
Make sure that you are
Communicating this
To stop it happening
To other people
Or just call my mum
Chrissy Robot
Because she messages me
With every scam
Under the sun
Oh my mum's the kind
That's going to send me
A train email
And I'll be like
If you don't reply
To this train email
You're going to have
Bad luck for seven years
Why does that not surprise me
Anyway you've got a question
Hit us up on socials
Just search
She's on the money
Coming up next
Mitch we're going to do
Super Saver Saturday
Here we are baby
Super Saver Saturday
Anyone else get excited
For Super Saver Saturday
Oh, just me, just me.
Oh, you too?
No, I do.
Do you guys like it?
I tell all of my friends.
Best segment ever.
That's coming up next.
She's on the Money Radio Show right here for you Saturday morning.
This is...
She's on the Money Radio Show.
She's on the Money Radio Show,
Australia's number one finance podcast.
Victoria Devine is over there.
Mitch Turi as well for you Saturday morning.
And it's your favourite time, Victoria, because it's time to do this.
Super Saver Saturday.
All right, this week I am bringing you a banger
from the She's On The Money podcast
because I always ask people, like,
what's your tips and tricks I want to know?
And people write in to us each and every single week
what their money wins of the week are.
Like, on Mondays, we post a thread in our Facebook group
and it goes off, like, hundreds if not thousands of comments
of people being like, I saved money like this
or I did this or I did that.
Or some people are even like, oh, my God, money lost this week.
I've seen that on the Facebook group.
Yeah, I spent $17,000 on Uber Eats.
so but the good thing with that is you're saving time because you're working smarter not harder
getting other people to do your job i am actually a content genius sure but the thing there is it's
not just for the content guys it means i don't even have to look up money saving hacks so that
i can save money and this week someone told me that they booked a holiday by buying gift cards
but using shopback which is a platform that you can use to get some cash back on your purchases
But they bought their gift cards through Shopback, got 5% cash back and then booked their own holiday with a 5% discount on the travel gift cards they'd bought.
What a genius.
Yeah, some people are just way too smart with this stuff.
But these cash back apps like Shopback are genius.
It's money back on purchases you were going to make anyway.
And you guys know that I do have a good relationship with them.
But this is definitely not sponsored.
I'm just a fan.
But they now have a Chrome extension.
So you don't even have to go check the app.
It just tells you that you're going to get a discount
when you're online shopping.
Oh, I love that stuff.
As a lazy person, that is sensational news.
I thought that would be music to your ears.
You are welcome, Mitch Turi.
But it's genuinely something that I was like,
oh, I just got back from a holiday, right?
Would you like to talk about it?
We don't have time, sadly.
No, sorry, sorry.
Moving on, moving on.
But I wish I'd known that because I also booked my holiday
through Flight Centre and they got a 5% discount.
Flight Centre weren't giving me that, were they?
No.
Genius.
Okay, more tips.
I'm hungry for more.
All right, the next tip also stolen from the Facebook group, but we're all about recycling content and working smarter, not harder.
It's use your clothesline.
Are you ready for this?
One of our She's On The Money community members had calculated how much her tumble dryer was costing her, and it was a couple of hundred bucks a year.
And now she's using her clothesline and saving a whole heap of money, which is something I'm not willing to do.
I love my tumble dryer and I will continue to use it
because have you not ever gotten out of the shower to a hot fluffy towel?
That's worth a lot of money to me.
It's the best.
Or throw your jumper in the tumble dryer,
not even because it needs drying in winter and then throwing it on at night.
It is the best.
It's also my way of ironing.
So if you ever see me in a shirt and you're like,
wow, Victoria is so put together, that shirt is looking crisp.
Yeah, it's because I pulled it out of the tumble dryer.
You know that's not ironing, by the way.
It is ironing.
No, that's not ironing.
I pulled it out of the tumble dryer.
I gave it a little flick and I'm ready to go.
If the colour wasn't crisp enough, touched it up with my hair straightener.
I want another tip.
You want another tip?
You didn't like that tip?
Yeah, I want another tip.
No, I want more.
I'm hungry for tips.
Okay, cool.
So the next tip I have, again, not sponsored, just good.
It's the McDonald's app.
They are so good.
Were you guys here for legit tips where you could save and invest?
Because this week ain't it.
No.
How does it work?
June where I gave you tax tips.
We needed to go back into the real true Victoria Divine tips.
It works by just downloading the app and each and every single week they have like a little
deal on there.
Last week, cheeseburger meal and a sundae, $4.
That's a good price.
That's a good price, right?
Yeah.
So you like book it through the app.
You can go through drive-thru.
They've now started asking like, oh, do you have a code?
And you're like, what are you talking about?
They're talking about the Maccas app.
You give them your four-digit code.
Up comes your order.
You don't even have to talk to the person for that long.
pay my $4, drive away happy.
Wow.
Wait, can you get a steamed bun on the Maccas app?
Because I totally care about steamed buns.
Oh, I did ask for that.
That I'm downloading right now.
All right, we've got to end the show.
We do.
Driving now, download the My Maccas app.
That's a good recommendation.
Yeah, and if you've got a money-saving tip, hit us up on our socials,
She's On The Money, so we can work smarter, not harder.
Now, Mitch, you usually do the Life Uncut radio show,
but not on this week, so you've got nothing to do, mate.
Party time.
Let's go grab ourselves a little sneaky cheeseburger run on the way home, guys.
See what's on special.
Victoria's Shout, everyone.
Catch you next week on She's On The Money radio show.
Have yourselves a great weekend.
See you next week.
